50 Years Ago: The Bad News about Cigarettes became Clear – To Some

The headline from the Greensboro News & Record reminds us of Virginia Slim’s slogan, “You’ve come a long way [down] baby.” Millions have died prematurely and unnecessarily.

From the days of a liberated Eve expressing her freedom to eat what she wanted, millions of rebellious youth said No to mom and yes to peer pressure to smoke, drink, do drugs or have sex, but Oh, the pain and suffering later.

A German proverb says, “Ve get too soon oldt and too late schmart.”

It comes down to our own willingness. After all, the tobacco companies still will not admit their product ruins health. The question is, What evidence are we willing to accept and are we willing to learn from others?

Someone said, kissing a smoker is like kissing an ashtray. Why didn’t Hollywood get this straight 100 years ago before the US government let tobacco companies gift the GIs shipping off to war with cigarettes and returning hooked?

Hindsight proves the government is so stupid.

  1. They thought smoking (though unnatural) was okay, and may be a money-maker by allowing it, but taxing the tobacco companies. Bad #1.
  2. Then they subsidized the tobacco grower to help him grow tobacco profitably. Bad #2.
  3. Then they subsidized health care because tobacco causes heart and lung disease. Bad #3.
  4. NOW the government wants to control the whole medical scene. BAD #4.

The government can’t even run the postal system profitably, what makes them think their control of the medical care system will work? Probably they are not convinced, but the trillions of dollars in the system makes their hand in the cookie jar an irresistible temptation.

Just as telling lies becomes a way of life to some kids to evade responsibility, the government does this so well–You can keep your doctor. You can keep your health plan. It will cost less…Lies!

We are probably at the end of freedom as we are inducted into a system that will force us to have National ID that we rejected under Hillary 20 years ago–a foreshadow of when government will mark, number and control everyone as suggested in Revelation 13:16-18?

But it’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. The title of this article pays tribute to then US Surgeon General Terry who reviewed thousands of pages of medical studies to release his damning report on tobacco 50 years ago.

But 150 years ago, Ellen White, a humble woman blessed by God with insight wrote, “Tobacco is a poison of the most deceitful and malignant kind, having an exciting and then a paralyzing influence upon the nerves of the body. It is all the more dangerous because its effects upon the system are so slow, and at first scarcely perceivable. Multitudes…have surely murdered themselves by this slow poison.”

As a young medical student, I appreciated a pharmacology lecture that described those effects of nicotine above (“exciting” by stimulating the neurons and then “paralyzing” them as a result of the depolarization from excessive stimulation).

Ellen White republished the information in what some physicians (myself included) believe to be the best book ever written on the topics of health and happiness. Written a book of biblical wisdom, it is both profound and non-denominational. It may be read online. The chapter dealing with tobacco, is Stimulants and Narcotics.

Seawalls and Other Barriers to the Truth about Climate Change

“We are not capable of addressing climate change.” Such was the leadoff sentence of the latest climate change guest columnist Gregory Willits in the December 24, 2013 edition of the Orlando Sentinel. An accurate statement to be sure, but for all the wrong reasons.

Mr. Willits, an avowed ‘green’ enthusiast, went on to strongly support the building of sea walls to keep out the predicted rising sea levels that the world’s greatest climate scaremonger Al Gore, has said will swamp most of Florida with 21ft of sea water by the year 2100. Like a pair of old socks left too long in the gym locker, it is now a malodorous, well worn refrain especially to those in SE Florida who have been sold this phony bill of goods for over twenty years by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN-IPCC). Yes, we are not capable of addressing climate change, the truth about climate change that is.

The seawalls and numerous other barriers to the truth about the Earth’s climate status have already been built to enormous heights. We need no more.

The truth of what is really happening to the climate vs. the UN and President Obama version is, however, a bit hard to accept after two decades of global warming propaganda. I know. It was for me when in April 2007, after finishing some research into solar activity, I discovered that global warming was ending and a potentially dangerous cold climate was beginning. Such was my first major climate prediction with several more to follow.

My announcement then to the White House, Congress and the mainstream media was of course greeted with the expected indifference, ridicule, and even slander.

This is the historical outcome of any who stand against the dogma and power politics of their day. Now, almost seven years later, and the track record of my Space and Science Research Corporation (SSRC) in making major climate change predictions, according to public records, is one of the best if not the best in the United States. The Global Climate Status Report©, published by the SSRC each quarter, now shows that of twenty four climate parameters, eighteen show global cooling as the dominant trend. The remaining parameters are expected to switch to cooling in the next five to ten years completing this picture of the next climate change to the predicted long cold climate epoch.

Yet, this capability for climate prediction accuracy and that of the other researchers who follow solar behavior to gauge climate change, goes unmentioned by our leaders and the media because of the ‘sea walls to the truth’ about the climate and the decades long barriers created by the manmade climate change myth or, what I and others have called “…the greatest scientific fraud in the history of mankind.”

The truth is that in the world of climate extremism, the fear and scare tactics of manmade global warming advocates is their only tool for demanding more walls, real and imaginary, more taxes to build them, more seizures of property, more unconstitutional activities like the stated “fascism” styled regional plans like that of the Seven50 Plan of SE Florida. On August 21, 2013, I held a news conference along with other scientists outside Miami to announce the end of global sea level rise. Despite the overwhelming evidence presented that this was likely, not one major media source picked up the story. It seems that the truth is an orphan when deception rules the day.

The truth is that Earth’s global temperature average has had zero growth for sixteen years now. More importantly, the Earth’s oceans have been cooling for ten years now and the atmosphere for seven years. These three critical statements would not be possible if the CO2 emissions of mankind had the alleged effect that the UN has proposed. The truth is the many global climate models of the UN-IPCC that global warming and ‘green’ zealots have used to justify their actions have now all been proven “simply wrong” by a wide margin according to their own supporters and developers. The truth is that climate models based on the Sun being the primary driver of climate change are over 90% accurate compared to the utter failures of the greenhouse theory and climate change based on mankind’s insignificant portion of the total emissions of the minor trace gas, CO2.

The truth is we have begun a new and possibly dangerous cold climate which will reshape the future of humankind through massive global crop losses and social upheaval. Sadly, because of the misguided climate policies of our current government in Washington, we will be completely unprepared for it, virtually guaranteeing nation-wide panic when the first cold crop damage strikes. The truth is that scientists at the Russian Academy of Sciences have said a new “Little Ice Age” will start in 2014 and the SSRC says that the worst cold in over 200 years lies just ahead.

Yes, we are not capable of dealing with climate change, at least not on a truthful, factual level. The all- powerful Sun is about to demonstrate its influence over mankind’s ego by once again cutting back on its life giving warmth on a natural predictable cycle. Those who make decisions based on facts will do well in the coming cold climate. Those who make decisions based on fear and emotion will not.

This then is the truth about the Earth’s climate future when the “seawalls and other barriers to truth” are removed.

The 6 Things You Need to Know About The Human Care Complex

This is the first in a series of columns on America’s human care system. With the Affordable Healthcare Act now the law of the land, it is time to understand six things: the who, what, where, when, why and how we got here.

In 1976, the great critic of 20th-century society, Ivan Illich, wrote: “Modern medicine is a negation of health. It isn’t organized to serve human health, but only itself, an institution. It makes more people sick than it heals.”

In 1961 President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned America about a growing government-industrial complex.

During his farewell speech Eisenhower warned, “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” [Emphasis mine]

Since 1961 the military-industrial complex has been surpassed by the political power of the government/human care complex.

Eisenhower said, “The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite.” [Emphasis mine]

The human care “scientific technological elite” is now in the hands of the National Institute of Health (NIH). The NIH human care system, in some cases, is not about improving health. The NIH human care system may ultimately result in increased cases of pain, suffering and death.

Since passage of the Affordable Healthcare Act, there has been a battle raging over the control of human care. The battle is between the producers and consumers of human care — or as Illich and others have described it: sickness or  illness care. There are a growing number of consumers being cared for by the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid systems. Estimates are that ten thousand Americans daily are entering the federal human care system.

A growing number of doctors and think tanks are recognizing that the human care system is not designed to make people healthy; rather, it is designed to grow and be sustained by ever more illness care. This is accomplished via human care standards called “protocols.”  The illness care providers are ultimately responsible for human care medical guidelines becoming protocols.

The human care system has become a government/industrial complex controlling over 17% of America’s GDP. In comparison, the military is less than 4% of GDP.

Patients believe human care providers are acting in their best interests.

However, like any other producer of products or services, the human care system is focused on keeping competition down, increasing scarcity of services with the objective of keeping costs and thereby profits high. The human care system is by definition a cartel. A cartel is defined as, “A combination of independent business organizations formed to regulate production, pricing, and marketing of goods by the members.”

Add to the “human care cartel” government at every level and you have a powerful force, which few are willing to confront.

Dr. Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH, looked at the human care system in her landmark study, “Is US health really the best in the world?”, published in the July 2000 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Starfield came to the following conclusions:

Every year in the US there are:

  • 12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;
  • 7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;
  • 20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;
  • 80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;
  • 106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.
  • The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.

According to Dr. Starfield, “This makes the medical system the third leading cause of death in the US, behind heart disease and cancer.”

In 2010 Dr. G.R. Greenwell, MD, FACSM, began examining the US human care system. According to Dr. Greenwell, “Chronic noncontagious illnesses such as diabetes, arteriosclerosis  and hypertension have been continually increasing since the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) was established in 1976.”

“From 1976 to 1987 the number of diabetics in the United States increased by 25%. In 1995 the methodology for decreasing the incidence and severity of diabetes by more than 58% was demonstrated. Since that time the ODPHP has failed to require demonstrations and research projects to utilize that methodology in order to receive grants or funding. Consequently the percentage of people living in the USA suffering with diabetes has increased over 107% since 1995. The number of people in the United States with diabetes has increased 138% since 1995,” notes Dr. Greenwell.

Dr. Greenwell reports, “In 2006, approximately 65,700 non-traumatic lower-limb amputations were performed on people with diabetes. During the first 10 years of the War on Terror the total number of lower limb amputations of active-duty armed forces personnel was only 1,621.”

Dr. Greenwell points out, “The number of lower limb amputations due to diabetes and vascular disease during 2006 was 109,500. It’s been proven that if an optimum aerobic exercise program had been included in the treatment of these patients, approximately 80% of these amputations would have been precluded from becoming necessary (see page 8 of the 2011 National Diabetes Fact Sheet).”

The human care cartel is more dangerous than any other cartel because taken to its ultimate end it can contribute to the pain, suffering and deaths of those to whom it purports to serve.

PODCAST: How Mother Nature will Accelerate the Looming Fiscal Avalanche

Many are writing about the looming fiscal cliff that Congress and the Obama administration will deal with upon return from the Thanksgiving break. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) warns of a looming fiscal avalanche.

In After Fiscal Cliff Comes Fiscal Avalanche, Rejection of U.S. Debt, Senator Lee writes, “While Washington is preoccupied with the so-called fiscal cliff, little attention has been given to the fiscal avalanche that will occur if we continue down an unsustainable, long-term path, causing markets to turn sour on U.S. debt and leading to a spike in interest rates.”

Senator Lee states, “The Congressional Budget Office projects that under the most likely policy scenario, in 30 years, net interest payments on the debt could total $3.8 trillion in today’s dollars. That is more than total government spending for 2011.”

Robert Wiedemer co-author of America’s Bubble Economy – Aftershock wrote America has suffered through a number of financial bubbles and the aftershock following each. To date each of these bubbles, the most recent being the housing bubble, have burst and fallen onto two other looming bubbles. These two bubbles are the “dollar bubble” and the “debt bubble”. Wiedemer predicts these two bubbles will burst when pricked by the pin called “inflation”.

The government fiscal policies which have lead the US to the fiscal avalanche may be helped along by mother nature.

Relying heavily on the research of experts globally, as well as his own original research that correctly predicted the change in the Sun’s behavior, Mr. John L. Casey has spelled out in his book Cold Sun a convincing case that a new cold era has arrived. In Cold Sun, Mr. Casey presents the evidence showing:

1. Global warming ended years ago.
2. The Sun has entered an ominous state of ‘hibernation.’
3. The Earth’s ocean and atmospheric temperatures are dropping rapidly and are now on a long term decline for the next thirty years.
4. Glacial ice worldwide is growing again and the threat of rising sea levels is over.
5. Why we should be preparing now for the coming cold and its ill-effects including record earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions as well as global agricultural devastation.

Mr. Casey’s predictions of mother nature taking her own course fly in the face of current government policies at the national, state and local levels. In this exclusive interview Mr. Casey explains how mother nature will have her way no matter what we try to do:

While government is focused on reducing CO2 emissions to prevent global warming, the earth is in fact cooling. According to Casey this cooling will shorten the growing season causing food prices to increase, require more fuel and energy to heat homes and businesses. The US will experience an increase in the number of natural disasters costing human life loss and property damage on a grand scale. The US ability to recover from such natural disasters here and globally will be restricted by our debt and cost to service that debt in the long term.

The world’s growing population depends on food. Brian M. Carney in his article for the Wall Street Journal asks, “Can The World Still Feed Itself?“. Mr. Carney interviews Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, Chairman of Nestle’ the world’s largest food-production company. According to Mr. Brabeck-Letmathe, “Politicians do not understand that between the food market and the energy market, there is a close link.” That link is the calorie.

Carney reports, “The energy stored in a bushel of corn can fuel a car or feed a person. And increasingly, thanks to ethanol mandates and subsidies in the U.S. and bio-fuel incentives in Europe, crops formerly grown for food or livestock feed are being grown for fuel. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s most recent estimate predicts that this year, for the first time, American farmers will harvest more corn for ethanol than for feed. In Europe some 50% of the rapeseed crop is going into bio-fuel production, according to Mr. Brabeck-Letmathe, while “world-wide about 18% of sugar is being used for bio-fuel today.”

What does this all mean?

If John Casey is correct in his predictions, and SSRC always is, then cold weather brings with it a shorter growing season and increased demand for fuel to keep people warm. Therefore, we must have policies that increase calories, not decrease the food supply.

These natural events will occur during the same 30 year period where our payments on the national debt will increase to $3.8 trillion.

How Our Public Schools Came to Promote a Social Disease

Not so long ago, American high-school students were educated in “sex hygiene.” They were told, “Save the conjugal act until marriage or you’ll get horrid diseases; if you’re a girl, you might become pregnant; and, boys, don’t marry an easy girl.” The lessons yielded low rates of STDs, illegitimacy, abortions, fatherless households, and welfare dependency. They saw high rates of virginity (even Hugh Hefner was a virgin in college) and social stability.

But after World War II, a new “science” arose that transformed sex education into an ally for the sexual revolution. Leading the radicals was the closeted sexual psychopath, Professor Alfred C. Kinsey, “the father of the sexual revolution.” Backed by Indiana University and the Rockefeller Foundation, Kinsey’s pseudoscientific claims in Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female (1953) would displace the Judeo-Christian worldview in sexual criminal law, public policy, medicine, art, and entertainment, and would lead to the creation of a new “sex education” field.

The Infection

Kinsey’s books went viral and were translated into a dozen languages. According to Lena Lennerhed, a professor of gender studies at Södertörn University near Stockholm, the Swedes even spurned Freud for Kinsey during legislative debates in the 1960s:

Alfred Kinsey . . . was the scientific authority. Kinsey’s rejection of Freud’s sublimation theory was interpreted as an argument for the right among the young, even teenagers, to have an unrestricted sex life . . . and evidence that traditional moral standards were outdated and contrary to human nature. (emphasis added)

This opinion was parroted by professors everywhere. Newly minted college “sexperts” began teaching wide-eyed students that sexual self-expression was healthy and that self-control was repression and psychologically bad for you. By 1955, Kinsey’s sexual worldview had shaped the American Law Institute’s Model Penal Code, which urged all 50 states to view our sex laws as “outdated and contrary to human nature.” Conversely, the institute report spurred lawyerly claims that “sex education” would reduce sex crimes and diseases.

Sexual libertinism became the leading scholarly opinion. In 1964, as New York University began awarding degrees in “sexual health,” “brave pioneers” met at the Kinsey Institute to allot “sex education” to the newly formed Sex Information and Education Council of the U.S. (SIECUS). This organization joined with Planned Parenthood in attacking sexual morality on a global scale. Both groups were funded by the Playboy Foundation to train children about sexual “health.”

In 1968, a book by Kinsey’s coauthor and sometime lover Wardell Pomeroy, Boys and Sex, appeared as a school sex-ed text nationwide, normalizing sodomy, prostitution, sadomasochism, and homosexuality. It even described bestiality as “a loving sexual relationship with an animal.” Pomeroy advised children that “premarital intercourse does have its definite values as a training ground.”

The Disease

By the 1970s, public schools in the U.S. were flooded with radical sex “education.” Thomas Sowell and others have noted that teen “pregnancies soared as ‘sex education’ spread pervasively throughout the public schools.” This all helped to erode the barriers to legalized abortion, until Roe v. Wade wiped them out in 1973. That same year, Planned Parenthood’s president, Alan Guttmacher, noted, “The only avenue the International Planned Parenthood Federation and its allies could travel to win the battle for abortion on demand is through sex education.”

At that time, “sex positive” education rarely mentioned condoms, an omission that likely helped lead to an increase in teen pregnancies that ended in abortion—which in turn increased the “need” for more school sex education. By 1974, Planned Parenthood was mass-distributing a booklet called “You’ve Changed the Combination.” It was a full-blown, frontal assault on traditional American sexual morality, including marriage. The authors told our children, “Sex is best between friends. . . . Have sexual relationships only with friends. . . . If she’s young, always ask.” The booklet also normalized homosexuality and ridiculed marriage: “Do you want a virgin to marry? Buy one. There are girls in that business, too. Marriage is the price you’ll pay, and you’ll get the virgin. Very temporarily.”

Today, Planned Parenthood dominates public-school sex education. It battles every attempt at abstinence education, for a resurgence in teen chastity would reduce teen pregnancies and threaten Planned Parenthood’s lucrative abortion business and its pharmaceutical profits.

Florida 2nd Grader terrified after watching BrainPop video on global warming

WDW – FL received an email from a concerned parent. The email states, “My son attends a private school in Stuart, Florida. This school teaches Common Core Standards ‘Plus other things above common core standards’. My son is in 2nd grade. My son has been coming home worried sick about something that was reported in a classroom news format on TV at school for 2 days. It has been the first thing he has said for 2 days now when I pick him up after school. He was so worried he was bringing it up hourly. He kept on telling me throughout the evenings and I had been so busy I was not to been able to address his concern.”

“A big flood is supposed to happen in 2030. I had never heard anything about it … so I went online to find out about it. It is attributed to rising sea levels, which of course must come from melting icebergs due to global warming aka climate change. When I finally addressed his concerns later, he said the program reporting was BrainPOP on the Smart TV they have there at school,” states the parent.

The mother concludes with, “Meanwhile, my son is not able to fall asleep for the past 2 nights for worrying over this 2030 flood. It wasn’t until he went on for a hour as I multi-tasked that I realized what had occurred.  After I explained my thoughts on it, he was able to finally fall asleep. But he is only 8 years old and shouldn’t even have to be burdened with this!! He woke up this morning and was still going on for a half an hour about it … and then again just before I dropped him off to school. After he shut the car door he came back and said he wanted to make sure that I was going to tell his daddy about it to make sure that I tell his daddy we need to move NOW because we live right on the beach!”

According to Scott Ferguson, Communications Specialist for Sarasota County Schools, “We have a district license to use BrainPop. It is available as a supplemental tool for teachers to quiz students if the material fits the teachers’ content areas. We don’t keep track of which teachers use it in which schools, and which ones don’t use it. No state approval is required for the use of BrainPop. It is approved at the district level by virtue of our having a district license and making this tool available to teachers.”

NOTE: Professor Phil Jones  from the Climate Research Unit at Britain’s University of East Anglia and lead author on the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2001 assessment report, has stated global warming ended in 1995.

“Our content is mapped to the Common Core, aligned to academic standards, and searchable with our online Standards Tool“, states BrainPOP. Federal funds, public school districts, private schools and parents in Florida help fund BrainPOP via grants and other funding.

The Environmental lesson is focused on global warming, the use of fossil fuels, greenhouse gases and CO2 emissions and population control. It refers to former Vice-President Al Gore. The quiz for the Environmental lesson reinforces the now disproven theory that global warming is caused by human activities.

Scientists now dispute what is being presented as science in BrainPOP.

John Casey, the founder and CEO of the Orlando, Florida headquartered Space and Science Research Corporation stated in April and May of 2007:

1. Global warming was about to end, within three years!

2. The Sun was going to begin a “solar hibernation” beginning with the next solar cycle #24 (which began in 2008). This hibernation would result in a record reduction in the energy output of the Sun.

3. The Earth’s atmosphere and oceans were about to begin a long term drop in temperatures lasting for decades.

4. A new cold climate era was beginning that posed a serious threat to all with the potential to bring global crop damage and loss of life through starvation, cold weather fatalities, and social upheaval on a historic scale.

He proposed that a new climate theory which he called the “Relational Cycle Theory” or simply the “RC Theory” should replace the greenhouse gas theory of man-made climate change and asserted that the Sun and not mankind was the primary cause of climate change.

Perhaps BrainPOP did not get the memo that global warming has ended and a historical cycle of global cooling is here?

This young student need not worry about his home being flooded. However, his and other parents need to worry more about what is being told to their children about science via BrainPOP.

Popular Science has published research which debunks the three myths your teachers told you about how your brain learns. This means teachers and administrators have for a long time been taking education down the wrong path.

Shaunacy Ferro writes, “Many of the theories of ‘brain-based‘ education, a method of instruction supposedly based on neuroscience, have been largely debunked by rigorous science. Brain-based education studies are usually poorly designed and badly controlled. Nevertheless, myths about how we learn persist in the popular imagination, and, most importantly, in educational materials and references for teachers.” Ferro describes the three myths:

1. We Learn Best When Teaching Is Tailored To Our Learning Style

Every child is a beautiful, unique snowflake, as the theory goes, and every individual learns in a slightly different way. Some of us learn best by hearing, others by seeing information displayed as pictures, still others by reading words on a page. One study found that there are more than 70 different learning styles, which usually categorize people into dichotomous types, like visual versus verbal or active versus reflective, or, in the case of the Myers-Briggs test, Introversion Intuition Feeling Judging versus Extraversion Sensing Thinking Perceiving. According to what many psychologists label the learning styles hypothesis, instructors should teach in a way that targets our various learning styles, what’s called “meshing.” Sounds fair enough.

Except for years, the evidence has been mounting that a curriculum tailored toward a specific learning style isn’t any more effective than just, well, teaching.

2. Some People Are Left-Brained, Some People Are Right-Brained

According to common lore, certain people use the left side of their brain more, while others use their right side–just like being right- or left-handed. Left-brain thinkers are more logical, while right-brain thinkers are more creative. The left brain is responsible for language, while the right brain is used for visual and spatial processing.

To some extent, it’s true that the two sides of the brain are associated with certain activities. But that doesn’t mean you think or learn with just one side.

3. __ Will Make You Smarter

“For defined periods in Great Britain and the United States, the memorization of poetry was not an elective pursuit but a mandatory element of mass educational systems,” NYU professor Catherine Robson describes in her book Heart Beats: Everyday Life and the Memorized Poem. One reason was that educators saw memorizing poetry as a kind of brain calisthenics that could help improve other realms of cognition, too.

“We’ve been doing that for centuries,” Kirshner says. “We used to think if you teach students the classical languages they’ll be able to think better… in that way you would be better in all subjects.” Though we no longer place too much importance on learning Greek and Latin or memorizing epic poems, the basic principle lingers. “We still think there’s some kind of universal way we can pump up our brain,” he says.

Ferro’s bottom line: A “learning style” curriculum won’t affect the way you learn. You don’t only use half of your brain, so being taught to your “left-brain” or “right-brain” won’t help you, either. Fiddling with an iPhone app? Unlikely. And as for the validity of “brain-based” education techniques–that term should really apply to all teaching. Larry Alferink, a professor emeritus of psychology at Illinois State University, says, “[A]ll education is brain-based. It is impossible to learn without a brain.”

Florida considering adoption of national “sexuality” education standards

Governor Scott and interim Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart just finished hosting a summit on education in Clearwater, FL. Governor Scott called the summit but did not attend it. According to NorthEscambia.com, “The discussions largely focused on high-level ideas and few specific recommendations, such as whether the state should bail out of a consortium of states developing new tests for the nationwide “common core” standards now being implemented in Florida classrooms.”

One of the Common Core standards not discussed was the “National Sexuality Education Standards – Core Content and Skills, K-12“.

Even the birds and the bees will now have national standards under Common Core. “Sexuality” is code for “gender identity”.

Here are some quotes from the National Sexuality Education Standards:

On page 12: “By the end of 2nd grade, students should be able to: Use proper names for body parts, including male and female anatomy.”

On page 14: “By the end of 5th grade, students should be able to: Describe male and female reproductive systems including body parts and their functions. Identify medically-accurate information about female and male reproductive anatomy. Define sexual orientation as the romantic attraction of an individual to someone of the same gender or a different gender.”

Page 9 under “Guiding Values and Principles”:

“Instruction by qualified sexuality education teachers is essential for student achievement … Students need opportunities to engage in cooperative and active learning strategies, and sufficient time must be allocated for students to practice skills relating to sexuality education.”

To highlight this principle: Students need “multiple opportunities and a variety of assessment strategies” to determine their achievement of the sexuality education standards and performance.

Will public school children be graded on their sexual performance? It appears this requirement is necessary to measure the “practice of skills relating to sexuality education”.

According to Cheryl Etters, Press Secretary for the Florida Department of Education, “The Florida State Board of Education voluntarily adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in July 2010. The Florida Department of Education strongly supports the full implementation of CCSS in the 2014-15 school year and is focused on providing local districts the support needed for a successful transition to Common Core.”

And before you say it is not a part of Common Core, because it is “A Special Publication of the Journal of School Health,” please go to page 6 where it says, “The National Sexuality Education Standards were further informed by the work of the CDC’s Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT)3; existing state and international education standards that include sexual health content; the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education: Kindergarten – 12th Grade; and the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, recently adopted by most states.”

And before you say, “We won’t allow it in our schools. We will go to the school board.” Local control is gone. On page 6, “Specifically, the National Sexuality Education Standards were developed to address the inconsistent implementation of sexuality education nationwide and the limited time allocated to teaching the topic.” The whole idea behind Common Core is to create universal standards.

The education summit has been characterized as providing political cover for Governor Scott to adopt Common Core State Standards for Florida. These standards will include the sexualization of our youngest and most vulnerable.

As Milton Friedman wrote, “One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.” What will be results of nationalizing sexuality?

Support for Common Core Standards Continues to Crumble in RPOF

While appreciative that Governor Scott convened this summit on critical education issues and hopeful that some meaningful discussion and airing of concerns about the Common Core standards system would ensue, The Florida Stop Common Core Coalition (FSCCC) is deeply disappointed in the results.

“The outcome on the issue of the Common Core standards themselves was pre-determined,” said Dr. Karen Effrem, president of Education Liberty Watch and co-founder of FSCCC.  “Continued implementation of the standards was assumed.  No meaningful discussion of the merits or lack thereof of the standards themselves was allowed to take place. Any attempt to discuss concerns about rigor, content of the federally funded and supervised model curriculum and text examples aligned with these standards, psychological manipulation and testing as described in federal documents, or any other concern was immediately shut down.  Lacking the ability or desire to meaningfully and respectfully discuss and work towards solutions to these critical concerns, prominent officials at this summit resorted to ad hominem attacks calling the citizens and taxpayers of this state with concerns ‘crazies’  and  ‘radicals.’  Sadly this whole exercise was a massive waste of time and taxpayer funds.”

In a news conference held near Miami, Florida last night, the Space and Science Research Corporation (SSRC) announced that the global threat of sea level rise caused by decades of global warming is ending.

Speaking to cheering supporters from several groups from the general Miami area, SSRC President Mr. John Casey issued a formal declaration of the end of global sea level rise during a presentation in which he discussed the vital role the Sun plays in climate change and how the past growth in sea levels was caused by the Sun and not mankind. The event was sponsored by the American Citizens League.

The declaration read:

“As a result of the Sun entering a ‘hibernation’ phase, the Space and Science Research Corporation hereby declares that the past two hundred years of global sea level rise is expected to end no earlier than mid-2014 and no later than 2020. After that time, global sea levels are expected to begin a long term period of decline, lasting at least through the decade of the 2030’s. The estimated global sea level decline during that period will range from 20 to 25 cm from current levels.” Casey elaborated with, “The many climate models that have taken two decades and billions of dollars to fabricate have been utter scientific failures. Once you take the greenhouse gas theory out of the laboratory and try in in the real world it just does not stand up. Not only has there been no effective growth in the planet’s temperature for sixteen years, but current temperature trends show the Earth’s oceans have been cooling for ten years and the atmosphere for seven years! These real world indicators of the true status of the Earth’s climate are of course, an impossibility if the greenhouse gas theory really worked and mankind’s CO2 emissions had the effect as has been alleged. On the other hand, using solar variations for climate prediction, we see global warming ended and the next climate began right on schedule.”

Mr. Casey, is a former White House space program advisor, space shuttle engineer, and NASA Headquarters consultant, and is the Editor of the Global Climate Status Report (GCSR)©. Mr. Casey is also the author of the internationally acclaimed climate book, “Cold Sun,” which describes the cause and effects of this potentially dangerous new cold climate. He has amassed a list of correct, major climate predictions that according to public records of predictions, is unmatched by the UN-IPCC, NASA, NOAA and all US university Ph.Ds funded for climate research by the government.

Using charts of data, sea level and global temperature trends, Mr. Casey explained that the primary reason for the coming historic drop in sea levels will be caused by the recently started “solar hibernation,” a once every 206 year reduction in the energy output of the Sun. A list of other scientists , echoing Casey’s prediction of a new cold climate, was posted for attendees to read and is also available at the SSRC web site. He emphasized the seriousness of the SSRC prediction of a coming cold era by pointing out to the attendees a recent article on display which had comments from scientists at the Russian Academy of Sciences who said that a new “Little Ice Age” would be starting in 2014.

Clarifying how this change in the Sun will affect us, Mr. Casey stated, “As has happened before, when a solar hibernation hits, the Earth gets cold. The Sun cuts back on the energy by which it warms the Earth and we enter a period of at least twenty to thirty years of record, potentially dangerous cold. This next cold era has already begun to show a trend of longer colder winters and weather extremes which mark the transition from the previous climate of global warming to the next climate period of strong global cooling. Our climate varies by highly predictable natural cycles. Mankind and his industrial greenhouse gas emissions have little to nothing to do with major climate changes.”

Joining Mr. Casey via Skype were other experts from around the globe. They included Dr. Nils-Axel Morner, from Sweden, one of the world’s leading experts on sea levels, as well as Dr. Dong Choi, Director of Research at the International Earthquake and Volcano Prediction Center (IEVPC) in Canberra, Australia. Though unable to attend because of work in the field, Dr. Ole Humlum from the University of Oslo, Norway submitted a statement on the future of sea levels.

Dr. Ole Humlum, is also an Associate Scientist at the SSRC, a prominent geomorphologist and glaciologist and Co-Editor of the SSRC’s quarterly climate report. His comment read, “As Co-Editor of the Global Climate Status Report with John Casey, I can say that our regular review of global climate trend data is unmistakable. The past period of global warming has ended, just as John predicted it would in 2007. Now, a new cold climate has begun. Over the next few decades, sea levels will drop, possibly to where they were two hundred years ago. My own research indicates the oceans surrounding Greenland, Svaalbard, and the Arctic are all heading into their own decades-long cold period.”

Dr. Morner’s presentation focused on the lack of reliability in sea level measurements and his prediction of declining levels during the next cold climate. In it he stated, “Mr. Casey is correct in his assessment of the impact of the coming cold climate on the world’s oceans. My research shows from a study of sea levels over the last 600+ years that they will reach a new low between 2030 and 2050 judging from solar variability.”

Dr. Choi’s presentation comments included, “There is a strong correlation between these solar hibernations and the largest earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. We should be on our guard over the next few decades for increased, perhaps record levels of geophysical activity. In 2011, I was pleased to have endorsed his book, Cold Sun, which discusses this important relationship. I said then that he was right about the coming climate change and that we will have challenging decades ahead. My research and work done at the IEVPC confirms this.”

Mr. Casey tied these subjects together by adding, “It is important to note that solar hibernations affect all life on the planet as well as the geophysical nature of the Earth’s oceans, atmosphere, and land masses. The predicted drop in sea levels is just one of the important effects of the new cold climate.

There are other related effects like reduced solar wind, earthquakes and fluctuations in the Earth’s magnetic field. We are all intimately linked to what the Sun is doing. Further, it is time to accept the overwhelming proof that now exists showing the greenhouse gas theory and associated climate models simply don’t work and are fundamentally unreliable in their global temperature and sea level forecasts. They should all be discarded. Solar-climate models have already proven themselves and should become the new, better, highly reliable standard for climate prediction. The Sun rules climate change on Earth, not mankind.”

He summarized by saying, “The choice is straightforward, do we want our lives and our government to be determined by old climate theories that have been shown they don’t work or do we want to rely on climate theories that are highly accurate and account for all past climate variations including the one that is happening now?”

Mr. Casey concluded his presentation with one somber recommendation by stressing that, “We should prepare for a difficult new cold era that has already begun.”

Dr. Choi is a specialist in global tectonics, Sun-Earth interaction, earthquakes and paleolands in the present-day oceans. Journal of Medical Ethics supports “after birth abortions” and “euthanasia”

Since the revelations stemming from the Dr. Kermit Gosnell trial many are asking: How this could have happened?  Perhaps a review of a paper published in the Journal of Medical Ethics in 2012 by Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva titled, “After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?” will answer this question.

The abstract reads:

Abortion is largely accepted even for reasons that do not have anything to do with the fetus’ health. By showing that (1) both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons, (2) the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant and (3) adoption is not always in the best interest of actual people, the authors argue that what we call ‘after-birth abortion’ (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.

Giubilini and Minerva state, “Sometimes the two reasons are connected, such as when a woman claims that a disabled child would represent a risk to her mental health. However, having a child can itself be an unbearable burden for the psychological health of the woman or for her already existing children, regardless of the condition of the fetus. This could happen in the case of a woman who loses her partner after she finds out that she is pregnant and therefore feels she will not be able to take care of the possible child by herself.”

Single parenthood is an ethical justification for euthanasia.

“[W]e need to assess facts in order to decide whether the same arguments that apply to killing a human fetus can also be consistently applied to killing a newborn human,” write Giubilini and Minerva. They note, “Euthanasia in infants has been proposed by philosophers for children with severe abnormalities whose lives can be expected to be not worth living and who are experiencing unbearable suffering.”

Giubilini and Minerva write, “[W]e propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide’”

Giubilini and Minerva appear to be making the ethical case for Eugenics.

Those who professed the eugenic gospel were not the uneducated and uncouth. They were not led by a narrow worldview and limited access to information. Rather, they were the academics who led at the nation’s most prestigious institutions, the leaders who shaped the policy of the country, and the progressives with opportunities to make positive changes. They truly were the elites of America.”, notes Sullivan.

Have we returned to that period in American history where the infirm, the poor, the minorities are the targets of a “new Eugenics movement“?

Sullivan writes, “Despite the fact that proponents of eugenics thought they were working for a better world, their work became brutish as it advocated only for the good of a very select few.  The horrific result was 60,000 Americans who were forcibly sterilized through state-sponsored eugenics programs that forever ruined countless lives.”

In the 1932 dystopian novel,“Brave New World” Aldous Huxley wrote that:

“In politics the equivalent of a fully developed scientific theory or philosophical system is a totalitarian dictatorship. In economics, the equivalent of a beautifully composed work of art is the smoothly running factory in which the workers are perfectly adjusted to the machines. The Will to Order can make tyrants out of those who merely aspire to clear up a mess. The beauty of tidiness is used as a justification for despotism.”

Report: Florida ethanol plant a bust – zero gallons of biofuel produced

The Institute for Energy Research (IER) did a review of the Environmental Protection Agencies’ (EPA) biofuel mandate. According to IER, “The Energy Policy Act of 2005 requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set mandatory levels of cellulosic biofuel for refiners to blend into transportation fuels.  In order to restrain EPA, the law requires that the mandate be based on an estimate from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) as to how much cellulosic biofuel would be produced in the given year.”

One of the companies formed to meet the need for biofuels is INEOS Bio. INEOS Bio USA, LLC is located at 925 74th Avenue Southwest, Vero Beach, Florida. INEOS Bio’s parent company is the INEOS Group.

INEOS Group was founded by James Arthur “Jim” Ratcliffe, a chemical engineer turned financier and industrialist. According to the 2010 Sunday Times Rich List, Ratcliffe is one of the richest people in the United Kingdom. INEOS Group is the fifth largest chemical company in the world measured by revenues. In April 2010, Ratcliffe relocated the INEOS Group to Lausanne, Switzerland from the UK to cut the tax bill and save the company £100m a year.

The INEOS Bio website states:

The Center is the first large-scale project in the United States to receive registrations from the EPA for a facility using non-food vegetative waste materials (vegetative and yard waste) to produce cellulosic ethanol. Construction on the Center was completed in June 2012, and production of advanced cellulosic bioethanol is scheduled to begin in the 4th Quarter. INEOS Bio has plans to run municipal solid waste at the Center after the initial start-up.

The BioEnergy Center created more than 400 direct jobs in construction, engineering and manufacturing during its development and injected more than $25 million dollars directly into the Florida economy. The Center has 60 full-time employees and provides $4 million annually in payroll to the local community. The project sourced over 90 percent of the equipment from U.S. manufacturers creating or retaining jobs in more than 10 states.

According to IER:

In November 2011, Ethanol Producer Magazine conducted an interview with INEOS Bio CEO Peter Williams.  The article stated:

The project is on schedule and on budget so far, and if things continue to go as planned, the plant will be mechanically complete in April and will be continuously churning out waste-based ethanol by the second half of next year [2012].

The facilities were not completed by April.  INEOS Bio did not issue a news release on the project until July 23rd, stating:

Construction of Ineos’ $130 million biorefinery joint venture project in the US has been completed, with production expected to begin in the second half of 2012, said Peter Williams, CEO of Ineos Bio, the Switzerland-based company’s bioenergy business.

INEOS Bio did not produce any cellulosic ethanol in the second half of 2012.  In a subsequent news release on August 9, 2012, the company stated:

The Center is scheduled to begin production in the 3rd Quarter of this year.

In an October 31, 2012 news release, INEOS Bio stated:

Construction on the Center was completed in June 2012, and production of advanced cellulosic bioethanol is scheduled to begin in the 4th Quarter.

As EPA is aware, INEOS Bio produced 0 gallons of cellulosic biofuel from it[s] Florida plant in 2012.  As of the date of this comment, the company still has not produced any cellulosic biofuel in 2013.

Smart Brief reported, “Ineos Bio has joined Algenol in asking Florida Gov. Rick Scott to reject a bill [HB 4001] that would do away with the state’s ethanol requirement. Signing the bill into law “would send a clear signal to companies like ours and other investors that Florida is unfriendly to advanced biofuels, investing in new technology and jobs it creates or to building a clean energy economy,” Ineos CEO Peter Williams wrote in an e-mail. The bill “is an all-out attack on ethanol,” said Algenol CEO Paul Woods, adding, “I would rather go to a state that welcomes the jobs and the opportunity.”

HB 4001 reads:

An act relating to the Florida Renewable Fuel Standard 2 Act; repealing ss. 526.201-526.207, F.S., the Florida Renewable Fuel Standard Act, to remove the requirement that all gasoline offered for sale in this state include a percentage of ethanol, subject to specified exemptions, waivers, suspensions, extensions, enforcement, and reporting; amending s. 206.43, F.S.; conforming a cross-reference; providing an effective date.

Governor Scott signed HB 4001 on May 31, 2013. HB 4001 takes effect July 1st, 2013.

American Academy of Pediatricians wrong on “gay social stigmatization”

GAINESVILLE, Fla., June 25, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ — The American College of Pediatricians (the College) applauds raising awareness of the health disparities among youth who claim a non-heterosexual identity, and is committed to promoting the best for all children. However, the College disputes the recent policy statement issued by the American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) claiming that elevated health risks associated with non-heterosexual sexual activity are due primarily to social stigmatization, and that pediatricians should affirm non-heterosexual attractions in adolescents as normal.

The College states, “Physicians are unethical to withhold all facts from LGBTQ youth.”

In its call to affirm LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning) youth, the AAP overlooks the best interest of these adolescents. Despite the AAP claim to the contrary, there is no evidence that the grave health risks, self-destructive behaviors, and struggles with self-image associated with the LGBTQ lifestyle are caused primarily by social stigmatization; the same elevated rates exist in countries long accepting of these lifestyles. Delaying all sexual activity and delaying “coming out” during adolescence is the best way to avoid these negative consequences.

Savin-Williams and Ream in their 2007 research documented so many changes in sexual attractions among youth that they questioned whether the concept of sexual orientation had any meaning for adolescents. Seventy-five percent of adolescents who had some initial same-sex attraction between the ages of 17-21 ultimately declared exclusive heterosexuality.

Moreover, contrary to the AAP statement, rates of success and negative effects of psychotherapy aimed at changing homosexual attractions are on par with those of therapy aimed at other behavioral challenges. Not only is psychotherapy therefore appropriate to offer any questioning adolescent but it is unethical to withhold it.

Dr. Den Trumbull, president of the American College of Pediatricians states, “In many cases, youth experience sexual confusion. They need the private counsel of their parents, and sometimes the assistance of a therapist. They do not need persons of authority affirming that these feelings of same-sex attraction are inherent or fixed for life.”

The College encourages pediatricians to welcome all adolescents. Patients expressing gender confusion or same-sex attractions need factual advice from their doctors, and sensitivity and patience from their families as they navigate the course together.

Cold Climate Preparation demands US Academic Support

The Orlando, FL headquartered Space and Science Research Corporation (SSRC) announced today that it has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage the largest US academic institutions to become active participants in getting the US prepared for the next climate change, expected to be one of decades of extreme cold weather.

The campaign is in the form of a letter being sent to the heads of major US universities and colleges, academic associations, science and environmental departments, media, and government leaders. Universities in the Washington, D.C. area will be the first to be notified.

The letter was composed by SSRC President, Mr. John L. Casey. Mr. Casey is the leading climate researcher in the US advocating national and international preparedness for the coming cold climate era. His foundational research into cycles of the Sun completed in 2007, led him to the creation of the “Relational Cycle Theory” of global climate change and subsequently, the SSRC. This theory establishes that the Sun drives climate change, not mankind and that repeating cycles of the Sun allow us to predict climate changes decades in advance.

Mr. Casey, a former White House space program advisor, space shuttle engineer, and NASA Headquarters consultant is the Editor of the Global Climate Status Report (GCSR)©. This report is the only regularly published,  independent, climate status report in the US using a unique set of twenty four climate parameters to determine the Earth’s climate status and future. Mr. Casey is also the author of the internationally acclaimed climate book, “Cold Sun,” which describes the cause and effects of this potentially dangerous new cold climate. He has amassed a list of correct, major climate predictions that is unmatched by the UN-IPCC, NASA, NOAA and most universities.

In his letter, Mr. Casey stresses the need to give up on the past efforts to use the disproved greenhouse gas theory for climate change prediction and adopt the far more accurate models available that use solar activity forcing (SAF) as the primary tool for climate prediction.

His appeal to the academic world is not just driven by the need for improved scientific integrity but also the practical aspects of having that component of our society fully aware and engaged in getting the nation ready for decades of destructive cold weather.

According to Mr. Casey, “Our nation can be much better able to withstand the ill-effects of the dangerous cold that is coming if academia is actively involved in getting our students and the general public informed. Their role is vital to our country’s preparations.”

Shock Video: Abortion Doctor Compares Death Injection to ‘Flu Shot’

The latest investigative video [below] from the anti-abortion group Live Action unveiled Thursday shows an Albuquerque, New Mexico abortion doctor comparing the injection used to kill a fetus to a flu shot. The shocking video provided to Secrets features recordings from Dr. Carmen Landau, of Southwest Women’s Options in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a counselor employed at the same facility.

In the video, the fifth in a series meant to draw attention to the disturbing procedures at abortion clinics highlighted by the recent Philadelphia murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, Landau tells the investigator acting at a women seeking an abortion that the injection that will kill her baby is “like any shot, you know, like a flu shot, or a vaccine, really.” It comes as 6:20 in the video.

Orlando group predicts another strong earthquake before July in SW China

John Casey, the co-founder of the Orlando, Florida headquartered International Earthquake and Volcano Prediction Center, in the below video talks about the center’s prediction that there’s going to be another earthquake in Southwest China before the end of July. He talked about the methods used by the center to conduct prediction and cautioned the Chinese government to prepare for future earthquakes.

With such an historic capability to make predictions accurately with long notification periods, the IEVPC believes that perhaps many thousands of lives can be saved annually.

The International Earthquake and Volcano Prediction Center (IEVPC) was founded by a team of scientists and other experts with established track records for excellence in science research, especially tectonics, volcanism, seismic research, management, and other skills necessary for achieving the Mission and Objectives of the IEVPC. This team originated after its founders realized that there were strong correlations between the occurrences of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, solar activity, and precursor geophysical events.

These precursors have been studied for many years by the IEVPC founders, staff scientists and researchers who represent the primary body of expertise in understanding these early signals that catastrophic geophysical events (CGE) are about to strike.

The IEVPC determined that through an understanding of events leading up to these geological hazards, that they could be predicted in advance with a high level of reliability. Further, it has been shown that a combination of the leading-edge technology employed by the IEVPC science team can lead to a substantial improvement in the lead time from precursor signal detection to the actual CGE event transpiring.

The IEVPC has assembled the technology and personnel that it believes can give days, weeks and months of advance warning for the largest earthquakes and associated volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

In December 2012 the IEVPC concluded its highly successful earthquake prediction test program during which it validated its process for detection of major earthquakes for multiple types of quakes in various locations. In doing so the IEVPC has demonstrated that the most destructive earthquakes can now be predicted well in advance allowing threatened people to prepare.
