Just What You’ve Been Waiting For: Obamas to Produce All-Muslim Podcast for Ramadan

You can relax now: “Barack and Michelle Obama have their Ramadan plans ready,” Esquire reported happily on Wednesday, so you don’t have to worry anymore that the Muslim holy month might catch the First Couple of the Media Elites unprepared. The Obama have “announced a new season of their Higher Ground podcast called “Tell Them, I Am,” which will feature a collection of narratives from Muslim voices.”

True to form for the left, the podcast will be loaded to the brim with “diversity,” except in any of the ways that it actually counts. The “Tell Them, I Am” podcast, which is set for release on Spotify, will “feature stories from activists, artists, actors, performers and athletes,” all of whom no doubt all think the same way. Esquire, out there working hard for a pat on the head from Barack and Michelle, says that it is “promising to be thought-provoking and reflect the best that human nature has to offer, according to the streamer.”

That best of human nature, however, will all be Muslims. It could be that at this point the left’s infatuation with Islam has advanced to the point that the Obamas and Spotify can’t conceive of anything showing the best of human nature not being Islamic. The host of the podcast, Misha Euceph, explained: “The stories are universal and the guests are all Muslim. The ultimate goal is for people to feel something, for them to fall in love with the people they’re listening to without ever thinking about who they are and what they look like.”

Wait, what? We’re supposed to fall in love with them without ever thinking about who they are, and yet they’re all Muslim. The clear subtext here is that Hey, Muslims are people just like you, you bigoted redneck, and so can’t you just stop the hate? This becomes clear when Euceph adds that we will fall in love with them without caring what they look like. The assumptions here are that Americans don’t like Muslims (a baseless generalization) and that they dislike them not only because they’re Muslims, but because they’re “brown.”

Muslims aren’t actually all “brown.” Some are. Some are as white as the racist “Islamophobes” the Obamas’ new podcast is targeting. In reality, there are Muslims of all races, and Islamic jihadis of all races. But it is a staple of the left’s propaganda that opposition to jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women is all about racism from beginning to end, and is not actually motivated by a desire to avoid being blown up and seeing others be blown up, and a desire for society to be based on the idea of equality of rights for all people.

Thus the Obamas, in their truly infinite wisdom, have decided that since we Americans are so persistent in our racism that we voted for Trump (twice), we need to be reminded that Muslims are lovable, even cuddly, despite being Muslim and brown. Trump 2024? Pah! By that time, the “Tell Them, I Am” podcast and the rest of the Left’s propaganda will have convinced us all to forsake our racist idols once and for all and worship the One True Barack. By then, thanks to the Obamas and Misha Euceph, we will all be woke enough to repeat “Islam is peace” as fanatically as the average North Korean sings the praises of Kim Jong-un on command.

The double standard of the left in allowing for itself what it would never allow to its ideological opponents has been noted ad infinitum, but it is on particular display here. Imagine what might have happened if Donald and Melania Trump had launched a podcast featuring Christians, and Christians only, from all walks of life, with the express purpose of compelling you to “fall in love” with them. Spotify would refuse to carry it. Esquire would run a piece about the Trumps’ “Christian nationalism” and “white supremacism,” even if many of the featured guests were non-white and non-American. The establishment media would excoriate Trump anew for “religious chauvinism” and “xenophobia.”

This double standard also proceeds from a core Leftist assumption: the idea that Muslims in the U.S. are uniquely subjected to discrimination and harassment, and so we need podcasts showing us how wonderful they are in order to try to change this climate of “hate.” In reality, FBI hate crime statistics show that attacks on Jews are many times more common than attacks on Muslims, which are decreasing overall. Considering how the leftist media has rushed to blame Christianity for the January 6 “insurrection,” arguably a podcast showcasing lovable Christians might be more needed than the Obamas’ new venture. But no one among the elites has any interest in defending Christians or Christianity. To do so would be just the opposite of woke.

Obama to Visit U.S. Mosque Tied to Extremism

On February 3, President Barack Obama will visit a U.S. mosque for the first time during his presidency. Curiously, the president chose a mosque to visit that is deeply tied to Islamist extremism and terror funding.

The Islamic Society of Baltimore, the mosque Obama will visit, is part of a network of mosques of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). In 1991, a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo placed ISNA at the top of a secret list of “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.” The document said the organization’s “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within…”

In 2007, federal prosecutors named ISNA an unindicted co-conspirator in the terrorism-financing trial of the Holy Land Foundation, another U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity housed in the ISNA building.

The U.S. government’s identification of ISNA as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity was upheld in 2009 due to “ample” evidence linking ISNA to Hamas.

As if the Islamic Society of Baltimore’s association with ISNA wasn’t bad enough, the mosque’s imam for 15 year, Mohammad Adam el-Sheikh, also has deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. In addition, el-Sheikh served as the regional director of the Islamic American Relief Agency, a group which, according to the U.S. Treasury, funneled funds to Osama Bin Laden, al-Qaeda and Hamas, among other terrorist organizations.

El-Seikh is on record as defending and justifying Palestinian suicide bombing against Israelis.

This is not the first time Obama endorsed and supported the Brotherhood-linked ISNA. In 2013, Obama addressed the 50th annual ISNA convention via videotape, praising ISNA for its partnership with his administration.

To the conference participants, Obama said, “Over the last half-century, you’ve upheld the proud legacy of American-Muslims’ contributions to our national fabric and this gathering is a testament to that tradition.”

Yet, the gathering was anything but a testament to American tradition. A Clarion Project report showed the convention’s roster of speakers included many known extremists, including Zaid Shakir and Siraj Wahhaj.

Shakir has preached that the U.S. Constitution is flawed because it grants equality to Muslims and non-Muslims and Wahhaj, a main speaker at the conference, has a history of anti-American preaching and envisions the day when sharia law will control America. As a current strategy, he advises Muslims to avoid discussion of Sharia because “we are not there yet.”

Ironically, the White House said one of the purposes of Obama’s visit to the Baltimore mosque is to “reaffirm the importance of religious freedom to our way of life.”

Religious freedom is hardly a concept promoted by the Muslim Brotherhood and those associated with it.

In fact, Muslims who are genuinely interested in religious freedom for all people have found Obama’s visit to the Islamic Society of Baltimore highly offensive.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and vice chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, called the visit was “insulting.”

“It’s disgraceful that this is the mosque he’s picked to be the first to visit,” Jasser said on “Fox & Friends” Sunday. “This mosque is very concerning…Historically, they are basically a radical, extreme mosque and not representative of the modern Muslims in America.”

Jasser is right. According to a 2011 Gallup poll, only 4% of Muslim-American males and 7% of females chose ISNA as the organization that most represents their interests.

If one of the purposes of visiting a U.S. mosque is to “celebrate the contributions Muslim Americans,” as stated by the Obama administration, he could have started by choosing a mosque and its congregants that are have truly done so.

America Should Become More Racist

Two weeks ago, our First Lady, Michelle Obama seemed to have caused a hornet’s nest of controversy with her graduation speech to the students of Tuskegee University.  She was the wrong messenger, with the wrong message, at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

It was very difficult to listen to our First Lady rant on about the travails of being the first Black First Lady.  She travels around the world on a private jet, has maids and housekeepers at her beck and call, has a security detail and sends her kids to one of the most expensive private schools in the U.S.

But yet her speech centered on how racist America is.

Somehow she failed to talk about how America is racists enough to elect a Black man to be president; America is racist enough to create super wealthy people like Dave Steward, Oprah Winfrey, and Bob Johnson; America is racist enough to have a Black attorney general; America is racist enough to have a Black who owns a professional basketball team (Michael Jordan); America is racist enough to have over 200 Black owned newspapers; America is racist enough to have over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Though these students were about to receive their university degrees, they seemed totally unaware that many of those coming behind them may never have the chance to finish their degrees or it may take them longer to receive and might be more costly because of Obama’s husband.

Mrs. Obama received several thunderous applauses during her speech, but there was no mention of the devastation reeked upon HBCUs by the policies of her husband’s administration.  Based on conservative estimates, HBCUs have lost $ 150 million in funding during his presidency which has caused at least 28,000 Black students to drop out of school due to lack of money.

Obama was right, America does have a racist past and some of its vestiges continue rear its ugly head on occasion.  Slavery and racism are still the biggest blemishes on American history; but because we are Americans and showed resolve, we also have one helluva story of redemption to tell. We have come a long way from the days of slavery and Jim Crow. We have Blacks making millions of dollars in sports, music, business, science, and education.  Blacks have been to the moon and back.  And did I mention, we even have a Black president?

This graduation should have been a time for Obama to inspire and motivate these students about the best of America; to challenge them to take up the mantle of progress and take it even further. She could have used America’s racist past to celebrate our nation’s journey down the path toward redemption.

Now juxtapose Obama’s speech with that of actor Denzel Washington.  Earlier this month he spoke to the graduating class of Dillard University in New Orleans, LA, another HBCU.  Obama’s speech was just over 26 minutes; Washington’s was just over 12 minutes.

Washington gave one of the best graduation speeches I have ever heard; it was very powerful and motivational.  His speech centered on his faith in God and his realization that many, many people are responsible for the success he has attained in his life.  His achievements were not his alone.

He challenged the students to “put God first in everything you do;” to be humble and try to make a difference in other people’s lives; not to just be about material gain for oneself.

I sometimes think liberals continually want to obsess about America’s racist past and conservatives continually want to obsess about pretending that America has no racist past.

We should all be able to agree that America has come a long way over the past two hundred years or so.  America is not as bad as it used to be and not as good as it can be.

So, my problem with Obama’s speech was she chose the wrong time, place, and message for the occasion.

Washington’s speech made you want to go out and make America better, whereas Obama’s speech made you want to condemn America’s very existence.

If liberals like Obama continue to think America is such a terrible, racist country despite all that America has given to her and her family; I can only hope America becomes even more racist.

REPORT: Child Obesity Caused by Single Parent Households

In 2010 Michele Obama made it her mission to address the “child obesity epidemic”. The goal of Mrs. Obama is to reduce child obesity from the current 20% of all children to 5% by 2030. WebMD reports, “To accomplish this, the plan makes 70 recommendations for early childhood, for parents and caregivers, for school meals and nutrition education, for access to healthy food, and for increasing physical activity.”

According to WebMD, “Obesity is an excess proportion of total body fat. A person is considered obese when his or her weight is 20% or more above normal weight. The most common measure of obesity is the body mass index or BMI.”

“U.S. kids haven’t always been obese. Only one in 20 children ages 2 to 19 was obese in the 1970s. But around 1980 child obesity began to rocket to today’s stratospheric level: Nearly one in three kids is overweight or obese, and nearly one in five is frankly obese,” notes WebMD.

What is the cause of this stratospheric increase in child obesity? ANSWER: Single parent households.

In July 2010 the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) reported, “Prevalence of childhood obesity and its complications have increased world-wide. Parental status may be associated with children’s health outcomes including their eating habits, body weight and blood cholesterol.” [My emphasis]

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for the years 1988–1994 provided a unique opportunity for matching parents to children enabling analyses of joint demographics, racial differences and health indicators. Specifically, the NHANES III data, 1988–1994, of 219 households with single-parents and 780 dual-parent households were analyzed as predictors for primary outcome variables of children’s Body Mass Index (BMI), dietary nutrient intakes and blood cholesterol.

The NHANES survey found:

  • Children of single-parent households were significantly more overweight than children of dual-parent households.
  • Total calorie and saturated fatty acid intakes were higher among children of single-parent households than dual-parent households.
  • On average, Black children were more overweight than children of other races.

The study results implied a strong relationship between single-parent status and excess weight in children. The NHANES survey states, “Parental involvement in the development of school- and community-based obesity prevention programs are suggested for effective health initiatives. Economic constraints and cultural preferences may be communicated directly by family involvement in these much needed public health programs.”

Mark Mather from the Population Reference Bureau reports, “In the United States, the number of children in single-mother families has risen dramatically over the past four decades, causing considerable concern among policymakers and the public. Researchers have identified the rise in single-parent families (especially mother-child families) as a major factor driving the long-term increase in child poverty in the United States.” To read the full report click here.

Data from the Sarasota County School Board shows that since President Obama took office the number of children who are classified as obese is Sarasota public schools has risen as the children progress from Grade 1 – to Grade 3 – to Grade 6. The cohort obesity numbers go down at Grade 9. For example, 15.7% of students in Grade 1 in the 2008/2009 school year were obese. In 2011/2012 school year 18.8% of students in Grade 3 were obese. An increase of 3.1% of students in grade during school year 2008/2009 18.8% were obese. In Grade 6 that cohort increased to 20.1%. The Grade 6 cohort in 2008/2009 data was 21.5% and in 2011/12 dropped to 17.6%.

Public schools do not keep data on obese children who live in single parent households. 

Many are questioning whether the First Lady is addressing the root cause of child obesity – single parent households. Some see this health initiative as expanding government control of parents and children. Setting caloric standards is the first step in setting eating limits. Limits lead to control of food sources, leading to the redistribution of calories. Should not we be focused on the rising number of single parent households?

Perhaps it would be better for the First Lady to focus on increasing the number of traditional two parent families? After all, she has a traditional family and her husband and children all have normal weights according to the BMI calculator.

JUST FOR FUN:

As an aside, Watchdog Wire looked at some well known public figures and calculated their BMI scores.

Using the BMI calculator we determined that New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow, who is 6′ 3″ tall and weights 236 pounds, is overweight. If Tebow gains 5 pounds he will be categorized as “Obese Class 1”. In fact the entire New York Jets offensive and defensive lines are obese.

Muscle Chemistry lists the height and weight of actors. Those in Hollywood who are overweight according to the BMI calculator include: Whoppi Goldberg, Al Pacino, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Sylvester Stallone is rated as Obese Class 1.
