Muslim Activists Helped Give Trump The White House — So Far, They Don’t Regret It

With weeks left in the 2024 election, Muslim Americans barnstormed mosques and community centers across Michigan with the purpose of preventing Vice President Kamala Harris — and the Democratic Party — from getting into the White House. They succeeded, and they don’t regret their efforts.

Those Muslim Americans told the Daily Caller that while they haven’t been thrilled with everything Trump has done in office, they are glad they cost Harris the election.

“I still stand behind our effort 100%,” Mahmoud Muheisen, the Abandon Harris Michigan Campaign Director, told the Caller. “If I could go back in time, knowing how it would turn out, I would do it again.”

“And I’m saying this as a student who’s involved in protests, and seeing that some students are facing deportation threats,” he added.

The effort to “abandon Harris” sprouted up in the Muslim American community in the months leading up to the presidential election, with the intention of punishing the Democratic Party for their handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

The effect of the protest vote was evident across one key swing state. President Joe Biden won 70% of the votes of Dearborn, Michigan residents — where more than half of the population is Arab American — in 2020. In 2024, Trump won 42% of the vote in Dearborn, while Harris won 36%. Green Party candidate Jill Stein won 18% of Dearborn voters.

In Trump’s first 100-plus days in office, his administration has taken steps to try to end the Israel-Hamas war and bring peace to the Middle East. After repeatedly striking the Houthi rebels, the Trump administration announced that the terrorist group agreed to stop bombing ships in the Gulf of Aden and other locations. The administration has also revoked student visas of individuals involved in anti-Israel protests. Trump effectuated the return of the last American hostage in Gaza by negotiating directly with Hamas. And most recently, Trump took his first foreign trip across the Middle East, visiting Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.

It was a trip that caught the eyes of the Muslim American community, including Democrat Khalid Turaani, co-chair of the Abandon Biden campaign in Michigan, who told the Caller that he thought lifting sanctions on Syria was a positive step.

“We had our reservations about Trump, but he has proven himself to be a very decisive leader,” Turaani told the Caller. “There’s the element of him that is showmanship. I certainly did not like when he was talking about removing the people of Gaza from Gaza, and then moved into Rivera and all of that stuff. I was like, ‘Are you kidding?’ … Then I realized that this is more of his showmanship.”

Turaani has been impressed by Trump’s “decisiveness,” which he argued was proven when the president moved Mike Waltz from national security adviser to United Nations ambassador.

“I thought that was very decisive and very spot on,” Turaani said. “The conversation [around the firing] was ‘it’s because of the signal gate,’ but we also have the news that it was because the guy, I guess, did not get the memo on ‘America first,’ and you don’t have to be coordinating with the Israeli prime minister on Iran or anything else. So I thought it was pretty good.”

Rex Nazarko, the founder of Drive for 75, led a large effort to divert votes from Harris in Michigan. His group assigned activists to mosques and community centers to promote their message across the state. They used social media and text message campaigns and knocked on thousands of doors.

In some instances, the “Abandon Harris” protest vote threw its support behind Stein as another avenue to spoil the former vice president’s bid.

“We still stand by that effort. We are fairly sure that none of this realignment that we see now in the Middle East would have happened under a Democratic administration,” Nazarko told the Caller as he reflected back on Drive for 75’s work.

Nazarko told the Caller that the Muslim community in Michigan has a “mixed bag of feelings” toward the Trump administration.

“There’s definitely certain moves by the administration that were not well received, like the targeting of pro-Palestinian student protesters, that kind of left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths post-election,” Narzarko told the Caller.

But following Trump’s trip to the Middle East, there seems to be some guarded hope sprouting up among the Muslim American community.

“They’re cautiously optimistic about the realignment that’s happening in the Middle East and the United States, detaching from an Israel-centric Middle East policy to a region-central policy,” Narzarko told the Caller.

“Then obviously there’s pockets of the community who may — on domestic issues — may be pleased with his performance. And on economics. I’ve heard that expressed a few times,” he continued.

Overall, the first several months of the Trump administration has left some Muslim Americans predicting that there could be a path forward for Republicans to embrace the Islamic faith community more permanently. Turaani told the Caller that Muslims in America are starting to realize they have more in common with the Republican Party, both socially and fiscally.

“I think Trump putting America first, I think, is a sign of leadership,” Turanni told the Caller. “To be honest with you, I’m pleasantly surprised.”

EXCLUSIVE: How Small Town America Stopped A Chinese Communist Party Takeover

A U.S. electric vehicle battery manufacturer with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has suspended its permit application to build a plant near a Michigan National Guard base following fierce opposition.

Chuck Thelen, CEO of Gotion Inc. — a “wholly owned and controlled” subsidiary of Chinese company Hefei Gotion High-Tech Power Energy Co. Ltd. (Gotion High-Tech) — said the decision stemmed from the firm’s ongoing breach of contract lawsuit against Green Charter Township, according to the Big Rapids Pioneer. The township soured on the $2.4 billion project in November 2023 after voters recalled numerous officials following a series of reports revealing Gotion and its Chinese parent company’s ties to the CCP.

“I applaud the people of Mecosta County as Gotion pauses their permitting process, but their fight is not over,” Republican Michigan Rep. John Moolenaar, chair of the House Select Committee on the CCP, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Gotion must announce it will finally listen to the people, and end its projects for good.”

“Over the last two years the residents of Green Charter Township, a small town of just 3,200 people, came together to defend American interests and stop Gotion from bullying its way into their community,” Moolenaar said. “The opposition to the CCP-affiliated company attended board meetings to voice their concerns and rallied their neighbors in true grassroots efforts against Gotion.”

‘National Security Risks’

Questions about Gotion’s CCP-ties began to arise around March 2023 when The Midwesterner reported Gotion High-Tech’s “Articles of Association” required the firm to establish a “Party organization and carry out Party activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Communist Party of China.”

Later, in August 2023, the DCNF found Gotion High-Tech’s Chinese-language annual reports from the previous year revealing the firm employed 923 CCP members at that time. The same month, the DCNF also discovered footage on the firm’s Chinese-language website showing employees visiting CCP memorials dressed as Red Army soldiers to pledge their lives to the Party.

Other Chinese-language announcements on Gotion High-Tech’s website unearthed by the DCNF showed Gotion’s Chief Technology Officer, Steven Cai, at the internal CCP committee meetings of its Chinese parent company.

The House Select Committee on the CCP investigated Gotion High-Tech in 2024 and “found their supply chains are reliant on forced labor as part of the CCP’s ongoing genocide of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang Province,” Mooleenaar told the DCNF.

“The full extent of Gotion’s ties to the CCP were uncovered, with the help of the investigative reporting by the Daily Caller News Foundation, as well as the national security risks posed by companies like Gotion,” Moolenaar said.

‘We Love Our Freedom’

Meanwhile, Michigan residents — like Joseph Cella, the director of the Michigan-China Economic and Security Review Group — engaged in grassroots activism to oppose the CCP-tied company. Cella served as the U.S. Ambassador to Fiji during the first Trump administration.

The former ambassador told the DCNF he blames local leaders for allowing such a company the opportunity to build a base of operations in Michigan.

“[They] refused to follow the directives given to state and local governments on dealings with China-based companies to exercise vigilance, conduct due diligence, and ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability are built into the partnership to guard against potential foreign government exploitation,” Cella said. “It is important that executive branch agencies, Congress, the Michigan Legislature, and citizens continue to scrutinize and investigate this ‘deal.’”

Cella credits other local activists, lawmakers, and journalists for their work in opposing Gotion’s project.

“This was a first-in-the-nation moment where a subnational incursion via a ‘deal’ with a China-based and CCP-tied company led to the recall and defeat of elected officials,” Cella said, referencing the November 2023 Green Charter Township election. “The totality of those activities for nearly two years resulted in this ‘deal’ being in grave trouble and facing a dim future.”

Dr. Ormand Hook, co-strategist for the “No Gotion” movement in Big Rapids, Michigan, told the DCNF that “people who just wanted to live in freedom” are “responsible for our victory.”

“We were motivated by the fact that we love our freedom and are not willing to give up our freedom to America’s number one geopolitical adversary. Plain and simple,” Hook said. “We had to push back at every opportunity because we had no playbook. We found the weaknesses and exploited them as best we could. Our biggest objective was to replace the fraudulent elected officials, which we were successful in doing.”

Among other things, Hook told the DCNF that many in the No Gotion movement were galvanized into action after the Michigan state Senate Appropriations Committee granted Gotion $175 million in taxpayer funding to support their project. The funding allocation passed with a 10-9 vote, despite every committee Republican and three Democrats voting against it.

“We found out most local politicians were in bed with the governor and our enemies,” Hook said.

Lori Brock, another leader of the No Gotion movement, told the DCNF that she was “cautiously optimistic that this disastrous project may finally be coming to an end.”

“We will continue to fight until it is completely gone from our community, and it’s my hope that our political leaders have learned a valuable lesson from this experience: in America, you don’t get to completely upend a community and our way of life without the consent of the people who live here, and American tax dollars should never, ever be used to subsidize anything associated with the CCP,” Brock said.

Thelen and Gotion did not respond to requests for comment.

Topsy-Turvydom In Michigan: Trump Courts Muslims, Bill Clinton Angers Them

In Michigan, Donald Trump went on November 1 to Dearborn, Michigan to court Arab voters. He has apparently enrolled in this outreach effort his daughter Tiffany’s father-in-law, Lebanese-American Massad Boulos. Could it be that when he says he wants Israel to hurry up and “finish the job,” he means that he wants Israel to end the fighting now, both with Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon? Israel still has to deal with the thousands of Hamas combatants who have managed to regroup in northern Gaza, as well as obtain the release of the hostages who are still alive. In Lebanon, it will still take a few months to end the threat from a much tougher foe, Hezbollah. One hopes Trump doesn’t mean to hasten the IDF to end hostilities before its goals have been achieved, but he needs to make this perfectly clear.

More about both Trump, and Bill Clinton, speaking in Michigan, can be found here: “Role reversal: Trump stumps for Arab votes, Bill Clinton speaks truth to state with large Arab pop.,” by Herb Keinon, Jerusalem Post, November 3, 2024:

Even in a US election campaign full of surprises – remember President Joe Biden bowing out mid-campaign in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris – last week’s role reversals in Michigan had some observers scratching their heads.

One of those head-scratching moments was when former president Donald Trump showed up on Friday for a campaign stop in Dearborn, Michigan, the largest Arab-majority city in America in a state with an estimated 200,000 Arab voters.

The significance of the Muslim vote in Michigan is greatly exaggerated. There are 8.45 million registered voters in the state. Only 200,000 of them are Muslim. But you would hardly know that from the breathless reports about the power of the Muslim vote. That’s exactly what Muslims in America want the world to think.

Why was this a head-scratching moment? It is one thing for Trump to go to the grave of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, as he did in October, and make a play for Jewish voters, even though he knows that historically, Jewish voters have favored his opponents by wide margins and vote heavily for Democrats.

But there was still a certain logic to it: after all, he is unapologetically pro-Israel, and when he was president, he took a number of extremely significant steps that helped Israel….

Trump did more for Israel than any President in history. He moved the American Embassy to Jerusalem. He recognized Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, signing on March 25, 2019 a proclamation stating that “the United States recognizes that the Golan Heights are part of the State of Israel.” He withdrew from the Iran deal and reimposed sanctions on Israel’s most dangerous enemy, Iran. Trump cut the annual US aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) – $500 million – claiming that its purpose had been to facilitate a peace process, but since the Palestinians refused to negotiate, it no longer made sense to fund them. Trump closed the PLO office in Washington. In addition, he cut the annual US contributions to UNRWA, claiming that the agency was corrupt and perpetuated the Palestinian refugee problem, and in its schools, was indoctrinating pupils with hostility to Israel and to Jews. Most important, perhaps, was Trump’s rejection of Obama’s claim that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal and the main obstacle to peace. He was especially offended by a resolution initiated by Obama at the UN Security Council in December 2016, when Trump was already president-elect. The UN resolution (2334) stated that Israel’s settlement activity constituted a “flagrant violation” of international law and had “no legal validity.” On November 18, 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared that “the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law.”

What was as surprising for some as Trump’s whistle-stop in Dearborn was a speech former president Bill Clinton, a Kamala Harris surrogate, gave two days earlier at a church in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, a three-hour drive away.

What was surprising, or rather, counterintuitive, was that in the heart of Michigan, with both candidates chasing after the Arab and Muslim vote, Clinton gave a vigorous defense of Israel’s war in Gaza.

What was striking about Bill Clinton’s speech?

Two things were striking about Clinton’s nine-minute discussion about Israel in the speech that went viral among Jews and pro-Israel supporters and triggered angry blowback by anti-Israel activists and pro-Palestinian organizations.

The first was Clinton’s honesty. He stood up and essentially put to lie the narrative of Palestinian victimhood popular among some progressive and pro-Palestinian supporters in Michigan.

Clinton said that when he was president, Yasser Arafat was offered a state on 96% of the West Bank and Gaza, could choose from inside Israel where he wanted to take the remaining four percent, and was offered a capital in east Jerusalem, including control of two of the four quarters in the Old City.

“And they said no,” the former president declared.

Part of the reason, Clinton said, was that “Hamas did not care about a homeland for the Palestinians; they wanted to kill Israelis and make Israel uninhabitable. Well, I got news for them: They [the Jews] were there first before their [the Muslims’] faith existed. They were there in the times of King David, and the southernmost tribes had Judea and Samaria.”…

Here’s what I think: If Trump becomes president for a second time, he would again be as supportive of Israel as he was the first time. Muslims who are counting on Trump to be less favorable to Israel will be greatly disappointed. And Clinton — well, that speech he delivered to an audience of Muslims and Arabs was most welcome. It’s too bad it took three decades — since the disastrous Oslo Accords that he helped to fashion — for the scales to fall from his eyes.

New Poll Spells Major Trouble For Harris With Unlikely Demographic

Former President Donald Trump is maintaining a small lead over Vice President Kamala Harris among an unlikely demographic as her campaign reportedly worries about her chances in key swing states, according to a new Arab News/YouGov poll obtained by Semafor.

In a new Arab News/YouGov poll, 45% of Arab American voters said they are more likely to vote for Trump, compared to 43% who said they will likely vote for Harris. More Arab Americans, 39%, think Trump will “successfully resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict,” compared to Harris who has 33% of the community’s support on this question, the poll shows. Two weeks before the election, the Harris campaign is worried about the vice president’s chances in the “blue wall,” such as Michigan, where the Muslim community is prominent, three sources with knowledge of the campaign’s strategy told NBC News.

“There has been a thought that maybe Michigan or Wisconsin will fall off,” a senior Harris campaign official told NBC News, emphasizing that there are real concerns over her path to victory if Michigan goes for Trump while Wisconsin and Pennsylvania stay blue.

Of likely Arab American voters, 4% of respondents said they would cast their vote for third-party candidate Jill Stein and 6% said they were still undecided, according to the poll. Arab News/YouGov surveyed 500 Arab Americans nationally between Sept. 26 and Oct. 1 2024 and the poll has a margin of error of 5.93%.

Muslim Americans in Michigan are making an effort to flip the state for Trump in protest of the Biden-Harris administration’s Middle East policy. One activist organization, Drive for 75, has calculated that if 75% of its community can turn out to the polls then the vice president has a 99.9% chance of losing, Rex Nazarko, who is heading up the effort, previously told the Daily Caller.

“What was a guarantee for [a Harris loss] to happen? We tried with different percentages and different turnouts, and with the 75% number, again, accounting only for the Muslim community, not other communities, not other allies, not other progressives. It essentially guaranteed a 99.9% likelihood of the vice president losing the election in Michigan, if 75% of [the community turned out],” Nazarko told the Caller, explaining that they ran numerous mathematical simulations to inform their strategy.

“We ran that simulation 10,000 times, and almost every time that was the case. So that’s how we got the Drive for 75 call to action and idea,” he explained.

As a part of the effort to flip the state, Muslim activist organizations are pushing their community to vote for Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, or even Trump, they told the Daily Caller. Abandon Harris, one of those groups trying to spoil Harris’ election chances, threw its support behind Stein, who also has the backing of some socialist groups in the U.S. due to her anti-capitalist economic positioning.

“We need to be clear about what our goals are, we are not in a position to win the White House. But we do have a real opportunity to win something historic. We could deny Kamala Harris the state of Michigan,” Kshama Sawant, a former Seattle City Council Member and self-described socialist, said to cheers at a recent rally for Stein.

A Harris campaign spokesperson denied NBC News’ report that there were concerns over their ability to win Michigan.

“We absolutely are competing to win Michigan,” Harris campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt told NBC News, pointing to the vice president’s recent stops in the state. “We think we will win Michigan.”

The vice president has recently campaigned across key swing states including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin alongside former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney.

Alongside Cheney, her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney previously endorsed Harris, though the endorsement might not have the positive effect the campaign is hoping to have, one Michigander told the Caller.

“Here’s the new thing going around, people are saying that, ‘hello, she’s been endorsed by Dick Cheney.’ That tells you everything you need to know about this woman: that her intentions are war,” Vice chair of the 12th Congressional District Republican Committee Stephanie Butler, who is married to a Muslim, told the Caller.

Trump took to TruthSocial Monday to give a message to Arab and Muslim American voters ahead of the election on Harris’ Middle East policy.

“Arab Voters are very upset that Comrade Kamala Harris, the Worst Vice President in the History of the United States and a Low IQ individual, is campaigning with ‘dumb as a rock’ War Hawk, Liz Cheney, who, like her father, the man that pushed Bush to ridiculously go to War in the Middle East, also wants to go to War with every Muslim Country known to mankind,” Trump wrote.

“If Kamala gets four more years, the Middle East will spend the next four decades going up in flames, and your kids will be going off to war, maybe even a Third World War, something that will never happen with President Donald J. Trump in charge. For our country’s sake, and for your kids, Vote Trump for PEACE!” the former president wrote.

‘We’re Desperate’: Socialists, Muslims Band Together To Deny Harris The White House

If 75% of the roughly 200,000 Muslim Americans in Michigan cast their vote on November 5, Vice President Kamala Harris will be virtually guaranteed to lose the state and its critical 15 electoral votes.

That’s what one activist group in the state, Drive for 75, believes. And to achieve it, Rex Nazarko and his organization are barnstorming mosques, hosting voter promotion sermons and knocking on thousands of doors across the state.

Though Harris hasn’t faced nearly as many pro-Palestinian protestors as President Joe Biden, efforts to thwart the Democrats’ presidential aspirations haven’t disappeared. Muslim Americans told the Daily Caller they are working to push their community to vote for Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, or even in some cases former President Donald Trump, in an effort to hold Harris accountable for how she and Biden have handled the Israel-Hamas war.

“[The Muslim American community] lost their faith in the Democratic Party and the Democratic administration, so they’re out to kind of hold them accountable. And I don’t want to necessarily say punish, but it is also a punishment vote, in a sense. I think that they’re desperate. We’re desperate. It’s also a vote of desperation. You know, we want to see an end to this bloodshed and this genocide as soon as possible,” Nazarko told the Caller.

The Michiganders who spoke to the Caller acknowledged Trump might not have the Israel-Gaza policy the community hopes to see, but their effort is more focused on punishing the current administration than about who they could vote into office. The movement is also about sending a message to politicians that their voice cannot be ignored, Democrat Khalid Turaani, co-chair of the Abandon Biden campaign in Michigan, told the Caller.

“We’re hoping that, whether Republicans or Democrats, will not take our vote for granted. So if it is [spoiling Harris’s chances], I hope it teaches not only the Democrats but the Republicans that, you go against your voters, you go against people as well. You continue to support a genocide, you’re going to lose,” Turaani told the Caller.

Before Biden dropped out of the race for the White House, his primary victory was stunted by a large protest vote across several key swing states, including Michigan. Campaigns like “Abandon Biden” pushed Arab and Muslim Americans to vote for the “uncommitted” ballot option in protest of his Gaza policy. And while 81.1% of Democratic primary voters chose Biden, 13.3% — more than 100,000 people — chose the uncommitted option.

In light of Biden exiting the presidential race, Abandon Biden switched its name to Abandon Harris, even though the vice president has indicated she would be tougher on Israel than her boss.

“She parrots the same line of ‘well on Oct. 7’ and okay, there has been more than 50,000 deaths. Two-thirds of them are women and children and she can’t get past ‘well on October 7.’ And we feel that this callous disregard to the lives of Palestinian civilians and the destruction of not only their infrastructure, the entire place in Gaza has been decimated, and and she just continues to parrot the same line. Meanwhile, continuing to support the Israeli assault and the Palestinian civilians and their lives and their buildings and their every aspect of their lives is under assault,” Turaani told the Caller.

“This administration represented by Biden and Harris continues to support that. The other thing is the fact that every effort to stop the genocide has been thwarted by this administration,” Turaani continued.

To cost Harris the state, not every Muslim American is expected to vote for Trump. In fact, some groups told the Caller they expect the community to not vote for either. Just five days ago, Abandon Harris threw its support behind Stein, who also has the backing of some socialist groups in the U.S due to her anti-capitalist economic positioning. And the Green Party seems to know its bid could spoil Harris’ candidacy.

A spokesperson for the Stein campaign referred the Caller to Abandon Harris’s endorsement, adding that it “outlines Muslim support for the campaign.”

“We’ve conducted an internal informal poll, we’ve cross-referenced with other polls taken in the state and nationwide, and we’ve been speaking to thousands of community members for the past weeks. The sentiment seems either Jill Stein or third-party, and then Trump and then Harris is at the very bottom. So if we just get the community out, we know that the natural distribution of both is going to fall towards that third party,” Nazarko told the Caller.

Vice chair of the 12th Congressional District Republican Committee, Stephanie Butler, who lives in Dearborn and is married to a Muslim, told the Caller that a deciding moment for the Muslim community in Michigan was former Vice President Dick Cheney’s endorsement of Harris.

“Here’s the new thing going around, people are saying that, ‘hello, she’s been endorsed by Dick Cheney.’ That tells you everything you need to know about this woman: that her intentions are war,” Butler told the Caller.

But a few weeks out from the election, some are still worried that the community may choose to stay home rather than go out to vote amid their anger.

“I feel like a majority of Muslims will vote for Jill Stein. There are a small portion that will vote for Trump,” Hassan Chami, a Dearborn resident, told the Caller. “The issue is, I fear that a lot of people may not want to vote at all. And if that’s the case, Kamala maybe can win Michigan.”

To address the concerns, Drive for 75 is blitzing the Muslim community. The effort currently has a civic representative and team captains assigned to each mosque that are building a sub team of volunteers and who each will be responsible for providing materials and election updates to 50 contacts within the community. Currently the plan is being implemented in 25 mosques, but will be expanded into more.

Within those mosques and other community centers, Drive for 75 is hosting turn out the vote events and using social media and text messages to push Muslim Americans to the polls. In the final two weeks of the election cycle, Drive for 75 expects to knock on 10,000 doors.

“Muslims are family-oriented and family-centered. We’re relying on the large networks that community members have to encourage one another,” Nazarko told the Caller.

Though polls show the race neck-and-neck in the state, there is a confidence among the community about what to expect.

“There’s no way [Harris] can win Michigan,” Butler told the Caller. “There’s just no way.”

A Middle-Class American Speaks Out—A Detroit Native Pens a Powerful Open Letter to Harris

Detroit, MI — A middle-class man who grew up on Detroit’s iconic 8 Mile has written a poignant letter to Vice President Kamala Harris, expressing his frustrations with the impact of current political policies on everyday Americans. The letter, now featured in a compelling video, draws sharp contrasts between Harris’ claim of being from the middle class and the reality middle-class families face today.

The man, who chooses to remain anonymous in the letter, recalls the pride of his working-class upbringing in Detroit, highlighting values like hard work and family. But as an adult, he shares how the current administration’s policies have devastated his ability to make ends meet. From skyrocketing gas and grocery prices to the collapse of traditional factory jobs, the letter speaks to a growing disillusionment among middle-class families.

Quote from the Letter: “I, too, grew up a middle-class kid, and unlike you, I am now a middle-class adult. My father worked overtime at the plant, and we took modest vacations. Today, those factories are gone, and I’m barely making it under your policies.”

‘They’ve Been Exploited By The Democratic Party’: Trump Has Caused Seismic Shift Among Blue Collar Voters

Former President Donald Trump has amassed more support among blue collar voters as Vice President Kamala Harris’ support with the once reliably Democratic group slips.

Trump has made strides among working class voters more than any other Republican candidate in decades, boasting a 31 point lead among trade school graduates and 17 point increase among nonwhite non-college educated voters compared to 2020, according to CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten. Among union voters, a historically blue voting demographic, Harris has managed to hold a nine point lead while her Democratic predecessors boasted a double digit advantage.

“There has always been a great deal of synergy between Trump and this demographic constituency,” Len Foxwell, a Democratic strategist based in Maryland, told the DCNF. “He has certainly made a conscious effort to target that voter base, and now, this traditionally Democratic constituency is at least keeping an open door to Donald Trump.”

Prior to the CNN poll, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters declined to endorse a presidential candidate on Sept. 18. Internal polling from the Teamsters, the largest union in America, revealed that nearly 60% of the workers they represent strongly favor Trump over Harris.

“All of the nation’s working men and women know that President Trump is the candidate looking out for them, which is why nearly 6 out of every 10 Teamsters support his candidacy,” Trump Campaign Senior Advisor Brian Hughes told the DCNF. “He has an economic plan that will allow workers to keep more of the money they earn, increase American manufacturing, and drive down energy costs. Under dealmaker President Trump, American farmers, manufacturers, and auto workers got the best trade deals in history, and he will once again put America First when we send him back to the White House.”

Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien was invited by to speak at the Republican National Convention (RNC) back in July. In contrast, O’Brien was not extended the same offer by the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in August.

“The Teamsters thank all candidates for meeting with members face-to-face during our unprecedented roundtables,” O’Brien said in a press release. “Unfortunately, neither major candidate was able to make serious commitments to our union to ensure the interests of working people are always put before Big Business. We sought commitments from both Trump and Harris not to interfere in critical union campaigns or core Teamsters industries — and to honor our members’ right to strike — but were unable to secure those pledges.”

The Teamsters have endorsed every Democratic nominee for president since Bill Clintonincluding President Joe Biden in 2020.

“By not endorsing Kamala Harris, they’ve given the green light to go vote for Donald Trump,” John McLaughlin, a Trump campaign pollster and CEO of McLaughlin & Associates, told the DCNF.

“We’re seeing a realignment between the institutional wing of the union and the rank and file membership,” Foxwell told the DCNF.

Pollsters like McLaughlin told the DCNF that this shift among working class voters is likely a result of economic hardships under the Biden-Harris administration.

“They’ve been exploited by the Democrat Party,” McLaughlin told the DCNF. “For the people that are surviving paycheck to paycheck, they have no choice but to vote for Donald Trump.”

Inflation has repeatedly polled as a top issue for voters, with rates surging to decade highs under the Biden-Harris administration.

While inflationary costs burden working class Americans, the Biden-Harris administration approved several spending provisions such as the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, which have collectively contributed more than $2 trillion to the federal deficit. The American Rescue Plan, which was passed in March 2021, approved $1.9 trillion in spending, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which was passed in August 2022, authorized an additional $750 billion.

In addition to economic factors, political strategists like Foxwell told the DCNF that Trump’s trade policy would “naturally appeal” to working class voters in a way that the Democratic Party hasn’t.

“We’re seeing a realignment of the two parties when it comes to trade policy,” Foxwell told the DCNF. “Trump, who leads the party that was once considered to be the party of free trade and unfettered market capitalism, has adopted positions on issues like trade tariffs that would naturally appeal to a union constituency.” (RELATED: Trump Hammered Voters’ Key Concerns In RNC Speech, Harris Hardly Mentioned Them)

“Meanwhile, ever since the days of the Clinton administration and certainly continuing through the Biden presidency, the Democrats have been leaning more toward free trade,” Foxwell told the DCNF. “So, to the extent that we have a union workforce that is concerned with unfair and unbalanced competition from export markets, Trump’s policies would have a natural appeal.”

Although the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania typically lean blue, their working class strongholds will prove increasingly consequential heading into November.

These “blue wall” states carry a lot of electoral weight, making them crucial for either candidate if they want to see an electoral victory in November.

In 2016, Trump swept all three Rust Belt states and secured his election against former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. In 2020, however, Trump lost in all three states and subsequently lost his reelection against President Joe Biden.

As Foxwell said, Trump has made a “conscious effort” to appeal to key industry workers like the United Auto Workers (UAW) members who were on strike in Detroit, Michigan, in 2023. During his campaign, he attacked Biden’s Green New Deal policies and their potentially negative impact on the auto industry in order to gain their favor.

Trump has also gained ground among trade school graduates, which is a continuously growing demographic. Gen Z has become increasingly involved in trade schools, with enrollments in vocational programs increasing by 16% from 2022 to 2023 according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.

“I think there’s a lot of fluidity in this campaign, despite the fact that the numbers look relatively static at the top,” Foxwell told the DCNF.

“It’s really essential,” McLaughlin told the DCNF. “For Donald Trump’s Republican Party to become a majority, we’re relying on working voters across the country in Michigan and Wisconsin to add to our coalition. And he will win them over not because they make up a majority of the Republican Party, but because Donald Trump has stood up for them.”

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.

‘I Have Not Seen This In Ages’: Pollster Warns Of Concerning Data For Dems In Nearly All Swing States

Veteran polling analyst Matt Towery detailed Monday on Fox News a worrying trend for Democrats due to a rise in support for former President Donald Trump among voters in crucial swing states.

During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Towery, who claims to have access to recent polls soon to be released to the public, reported a significant uptick in favor of the former president, not just in the usual hotspots but across almost every battleground state, including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Nevada.

“I’ve looked at polling that I’ve been privy to, and I’ll probably be public in the next few days. Trump is trending up in almost every single battleground state, almost every one,” Towery told Laura Ingraham when asked why Michigan Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin was concerned about the polling. “And when you ask the question, how are your neighbors going to vote? You have very shy Trump voters sometimes. Those numbers explode, and I’ve not seen this in ages. And you know me, I’m usually Mr. Doom and Gloom for the Republicans and Trump.”

WATCH:

While Towery is typically more pessimistic about Republican prospects, his current observations indicate a shift in public sentiment that spans beyond traditional strongholds.

“I am seeing a true shift in public sentiment, not just in Michigan and in Pennsylvania. I’m seeing it in Nevada, as a matter of fact, there’s been a turnaround there. The only problem child right now is Georgia, and that’s because the Republicans, you have two groups, traditionalist Republicans who go way back,” he continued. “They’re not feeling the groove with Trump right now. It’s the more new-come Republicans and those who live in the exurbs and down in those areas that were hit by this storm.”

Towery also touched on the recent severe storm that has wreaked havoc across the Southeast, particularly affecting Republican-dominated areas. “That storm affected Republican areas, and I’m just saying, demographically, all the way up, basically majority Republican other than Asheville. So what effect that’s gonna have on turnout? I have no earthly idea,” Towery added.

Experts suggest that Nevada’s shift toward Trump could significantly impact Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, despite the state’s modest six electoral votes. The unique economic and demographic factors in the swing state, which has consistently voted Democratic since 2008, might now tilt the balance in this tight race.

A New York Times and Siena College poll indicates a neck-and-neck race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in key swing states such as Michigan and Wisconsin. In Michigan, Harris leads Trump by a narrow margin of 48% to 47%, while in Wisconsin, her lead is slightly larger at 49% to 47%, according to the Saturday report from the NYT.

ELECTION FRAUD MICHIGAN: Detroit Hires 50 Republican vs 2,300 Democrat Poll Workers!

What fresh hell is this?

Who exactly was doing the hiring?

What mechanism was in place to ensure parity?

50 Republicans were hired as poll workers versus 2300 Democrats.

Lawsuit: RNC Claims Detroit Hired Seven Times More Democrat than Republican Poll Workers

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is accusing Detroit, Michigan’s election commission of hiring more Democrat than Republican poll workers as the presidential election approaches.

The RNC has slapped the Election Commission of the City of Detroit with a lawsuit that alleges officials broke state law by hiring over seven times more Democrats than Republicans for those roles, Fox News reported on Friday.

The outlet continued:

Michigan requires that the board of election commissioners “shall appoint an equal number, as nearly as possible, of election inspectors in each election precinct from each major political party,” according to Section 168.74 of the state’s election law.

However, the city of Detroit hired about 2,300 Democratic poll workers and only about 300 Republican election inspectors for the state’s 2024 primary election, according to the Detroit Election Commission Report cited in the lawsuit.

In a statement to Fox News, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump stated, “Detroit’s failure to hire Republican poll workers is the kind of bad-faith Democrat interference that drives down faith in elections.”

It is important to note that the RNC and Trump campaign recently surpassed 150,000 poll watchers and workers after setting a goal of 100,000 for their election integrity program, according to Breitbart News:

The RNC and Trump campaign announced the launch of the massive election integrity program earlier in 2024, describing it as the “most extensive and monumental election integrity program in the nation’s history.”

Every battleground state will have an election integrity hotline, and with that comes poll watching, which is a massive part of the program. Along with this comes “comprehensive training sessions” every month on election monitoring. In fact, in late July, the GOP celebrated 100 days until the election by holding a nationwide election integrity training event.

In September 2022, the RNC criticized the cities of Kalamazoo and Flint, Michigan, once city leaders appointed significantly fewer Republican election inspectors than Democrats, Breitbart News reported at the time.

“Under Michigan law, local election commissions must hire an equal number of Republican and Democrat poll workers. However, Kalamazoo and Flint officials significantly deviated from this requirement,” the outlet said.

The case is Republican National Committee v. Election Commission of the City of Detroit in the Michigan Circuit Court for the County of Wayne.

CAIR Executive-Director: There Are 9 Million American Muslims Who Can Tip The Balance In Michigan, Minnesota, Washington State, Wisconsin

Nihad Awad, the executive-director of CAIR — the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said in an April 26, 2024 sermon at the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Virginia that there are nine million Muslims in the United States, but that they were unable to “stand up to the lies” of the U.S. government and prevent the invasion and destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan, nor were they able to stop the “genocide” that is currently taking place in Gaza, and he warned that in India, “the Modi government and the Hindutva party are planning and getting the Muslim community to face the destiny of other communities who have been exterminated.”

Dr. Awad said that the Muslim-American community must be politically active, because even though they are a minority, they are having a political impact, as has been seen in key states like Michigan, Georgia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington, and elsewhere. He also prayed to Allah to grant victory to the people of Gaza.

In The Past, American Muslims Could Not Stand Up To The Lies Of The U.S. Government, Which Were Put Forth To Invade And Destroy Afghanistan And Iraq, And Kill Millions Of People

Nihad Awad: “According to my organization and the most reputable organizations in the country, the Muslim community is at least nine million people in the United States.

[…]

“We have not, and could not, stand up to the lies of our government [which were] put forth to invade and destroy Afghanistan and Iraq and kill millions of people.

[…]

“We could not prevent the massacre, the genocide in Gaza from happening.

[…]

“If you think you are powerless more massacres will happen. More genocides will happen. Do you know what’s in the pipeline in addition to Gaza? India. The Modi government and the Hindutva party are planning and getting the Muslim community to face the destiny of other communities who have been exterminated.

[…]

“And we are a minority, like in Mecca. And also, we are like in Medina, because we are also well established. We have resources we have voices and people are taking note of the Muslim community.

Millions Of American Muslims Can Tip The Balance In Michigan, Georgia, Minnesota, Washington State, Wisconsin

“And if you don’t know that, just watch what happened in Michigan, in Georgia, in Minnesota, in Washington state, in Wisconsin. The uncommitted. The millions of people who are voting and sending a clear message to this administration that they are going to hold them accountable in November.

[…]

“You have to be politically involved, because the ummah is waiting for you.

[…]

“In the swing states, you may not be the margin of victory, but you can tip the balance.

[…]

“We ask you Allah to empower us to give us the victory with the people of Gaza.”

Several Michigan Democrats Fail To Condemn ‘Death To America’ Chants

A number of Democratic elected officials in Michigan failed to condemn “Death to America” chants made at an Al Quds Day Rally in Dearborn, Michigan, late last week.

An activist named Tarek Bazzi spoke to the crowd at the rally calling for “all of” the crowd’s chants and shouts to be directed at America. The protesters can be heard chanting, “Death to America” in a video posted on social media.

“The death to Israel is the most logical chant heard across the world, today,” said Bazzi in the video. After Bazir’s remarks, Michigan Imam Usama Abdhulagani said to the crowd, “Israel is an evil settler-colonial State.”

“Israel is ISIS,” continued Abdhulagani.

The Daily Caller contacted Democrats from Michigan’s Congressional delegation, along with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, to ask if they condemned the chant. A number of them responded with condemnations, but several did not, including Whitmer and Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

Rep. Hillary Scholten denounced the “anti-Semitic” rhetoric of the protesters. “I fully condemn this dangerous and disturbing rhetoric and will stand strong against hatred, bigotry, and anti-Semitism wherever it exists,” said Rep. Scholten.

Rep. Dan Kildee also reprimanded the protesters for “dangerous” speech.

“I unequivocally condemn such extreme and dangerous speech,” said Rep. Kildee. “Calling for violence, including the destruction of America, is wrong and should be denounced.”

Rep. Elissa Slotkin thanked Dearborn leaders for speaking out against the protesters.

“Violent, hateful language has no place in our communities, no matter the cause,” said Rep. Slotkin. “I’m grateful to the Dearborn leaders and others for making clear that these statements do not reflect the views of Michigan’s communities. ”

After initially saying they would “politely decline” to condemn the “death to America” chant, the office of Rep. Shri Thanedar stated, ‘The Congressman condemns any chants calling for death to America” after the Daily Caller pressed for a statement.

Thanedar added,” I love America; I immigrated to the USA in 1979 and became a proud citizen in 1988. Any hate towards this great country must be condemned with the strongest words. I am deeply saddened by such attacks on American soil.”

The Daily Caller repeatedly requested a statement of condemnation from other elected officials from Michigan, including Rep. Debbie Dingell, Rep. Haley Stevens, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Sen. Gary Peters and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, but they refused to share their stance on the matter. Gov. Whitmer also did not respond to a request for comment.

Last November, the House censured Rep. Tlaib for anti-Semitic remarks made by the Congresswoman after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

The White House condemned the statement Monday morning in a statement first reported by the Daily Caller. Previously, the Biden administration had made multiple attempts to bridge divides with Arab-American voters in Michigan, particularly around Dearborn, who have expressed opposition to Biden’s support for Israel in its war with Hamas.

Dearborn: Al-Quds Day rallygoers scream ‘Death to America,’ speaker says U.S. one of world’s ‘rottenest countries’

Why are they here? “Fight them until persecution is no more and religion is all for Allah.” (Qur’an 8:39) That is, to conquer and Islamize. And no one dares say a thing about it, because to do so would be “Islamophobic.”

At International Al-Quds Day Rally in Dearborn, Michigan Protesters Chant ‘Death to America!’; Speakers at the Rally: America Is One of the ‘Rottenest Countries’ on Earth; Israel Is ISIS, Nazis, a Cancer

MEMRI, April 5, 2024:

At an International Al-Quds Day rally in Dearborn, Michigan, held on April 5, 2024 and streamed live on Dearborn.org on Facebook, protesters chanted: “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” Michigan activist, who is affiliated with the Hadi Institute, Tarek Bazzi said that it is not “Genocide Joe” that has to go, referring to President Biden, but it is the entire system of the United States “that has to go.” He Quoted Malcolm X, saying: “We live in one of the rottenest countries that has ever existed on this earth.”

Bazzi added that “death to Israel” has become the “most logical chant shouted across the world today.” Michigan Imam Usama Abdulghani, who is also affiliated with the Hadi Institute, said that the founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini established the International Al-Quds Day because he realized that Israel was a “cancer” and an “evil settler colonialist project.”

He said that the “people of conscience” recognize that Israel is ISIS, Nazis, and fascists.

At the end of the rally, Tarek Bazzi encouraged a young child to lead the chant: “Free Palestine! From the River to the Sea Palestine will be free!”

Swing-State Voters Overwhelmingly Trust Trump Over Biden On Pivotal Issues Ahead Of November Election: POLL

Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by large margins on key domestic issues across seven battleground states ahead of the November election, a poll released Tuesday evening found.

Trump is trouncing Biden by 20 points on handling of the economy, border security, inflation and the “mental and physical fitness needed to be President,” according to a Wall Street Journal survey among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Inflation and illegal immigration have surged since Biden took office in January 2021, and questions concerning the president’s mental fitness continue to mount.

Swing-state voters also said they trust Trump 14 and nine points more than Biden to handle the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, respectively, according to the poll.

The only issues polled that Biden led Trump on were abortion and “protecting democracy.” Biden was trusted by 12 points more on the issue of abortion, as well as one point on protecting democracy, the survey found.

Trump also led Biden in the poll for a general election matchup by one point in Georgia; three points in Michigan and Pennsylvania; four points in Nevada; five points in Arizona; and six points in North Carolina. The two were tied in Wisconsin at 46%.

When independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., “Justice for All Party” candidate Cornel West, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Lars Mapstead were included, Trump’s leads grew in North Carolina and Georgia, according to the poll.

The former president’s margins stayed the same in Arizona, Nevada and Pennsylvania with the third-party contenders on the ballot, while his lead dropped by one point in Michigan and Wisconsin fell to Biden.

Trump is currently leading Biden in the RealClearPolitics average for 2024 matchups in ArizonaNevadaWisconsinMichiganPennsylvaniaNorth Carolina and Georgia anywhere from 0.6 to 5.2 points.

The WSJ poll surveyed 4,200 registered voters across the swing states from March 17 to March 24 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

Neither the Trump nor Biden campaigns immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

Polls: What They’ve Gotten Right So Far, And What They’re Saying About ’24

For almost a decade now, Republicans have taken pollsters’ incompetence for granted. They gave Hillary Clinton an almost certain chance of victory in 2016, so they can never be trusted to accurately gauge Donald Trump — or so the theory goes. However, the polls have been fairly accurate in this election cycle — at least in the beginning.

Trump is a uniquely difficult figure to poll. For a long time, the hostile environment Democrats, the corporate media, and leading cultural figures built around him made expressing pro-Trump sentiments a risky business. Supporting Trump could put friendships in jeopardy, rupture families, or even have dire professional consequences. People knew they weren’t supposed to like him, and if they did, it represented some sort of character flaw. Even to strangers polling them over the phone, people cautiously guard their virtue. It doesn’t help that polls are sometimes strategically weighted toward Democrats, to shape opinion rather than reflect it.

Yet as Trump chugs along with the momentum of a steamroller, this toxic atmosphere has begun to collapse. It’s no longer a social death sentence to say you support Trump — even high-profile celebrities are doing it. Some, from irreverent rapper Azealia Banks to Kelsey Grammer to sports legend Caitlyn Jenner have openly endorsed him, while other notable figures like Elon Musk and Joe Rogan have certainly warmed up to some of his ideas. Partly, it’s herd mentality: middle-of-the-road voters now feel more comfortable expressing their support as social interdictions soften. However, it’s also a conscious shift. People have woken up to the media narratives, realizing that President Joe Biden is the true radical on issues from immigration to the economy, while Trump represents a moderate return to normal.

This helps explain why the polling on Trump has been pretty much spot on so far this election season.

On the day of the caucus in Iowa, the 538 polling average projected Trump would take 52.7% of the vote, while former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley would hold 18.7%. Trump wound up coming in just barely under, at 51%, while Haley over-performed by less than half a point at 19.1%. The key takeaways of the projection held: Trump enjoyed support from a narrow majority, while Haley’s base was a solid, but ultimately insignificant, quarter of the Republican electorate.

The polls were right again in New Hampshire. On the day of the primary, Trump stood at 53.9% percent in the 538 average,  while Haley stood at 36.3%. Trump slightly overperformed by less than half a point, walking away with 54.3% of the vote. Haley, meanwhile, did substantially better than the polls suggested at 43%, but that is likely because Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out right before the election. Some of his voters moved over to Haley’s camp too quickly for the polls to capture. On Trump, the pollsters were spot on.

In South Carolina, Trump again came in just slightly over a point of the polls — 59.8% projected compared to 61.6%. Haley overperformed by about 5 points, coming in at 39% after a 34% projection. Again, this is likely due to Democrats turning out for Haley to spite Trump, although they would certainly not vote for her in a general election.

It’s only in Michigan that Trump’s polling began to deviate. Haley did about 5 points better than expected, while Trump did about 10 points worse, with uncommitteds making up most of the balance.

From there, things got dicier on Super Tuesday. Polls suggested Trump was likely to win by almost 50 points in Virginia, but he only walked away with about a 28-point victory. Despite a small sample, polls did not predict Haley’s victory in Vermont; in fact, they suggested a roughly 30-point victory for Trump. Haley surged in Massachusetts (an open primary), reducing Trump’s margin of victory to roughly 15 points narrower than projected.

Partly, this is due to averages being skewed from earlier polling before Haley surged in the match-up against Trump. But it shows that polls can’t totally be counted on to accurately reflect the anti-Trump or Trump-ambivalent primary voters. So we get a pretty good idea of the proportions of Trump’s core base, and how they are going to turn out. Moderates and Independents, the types who are lukewarm on Trump and gravitate towards someone a little more centrist like Haley, may turn out to be a wild card that cut into Trump’s support. With Haley’s reported withdrawal from the race following Super Tuesday, the question now becomes: will they gravitate back to Trump, stay home, or vote for Biden?

Trump has been up in nearly every poll since the beginning of 2024. The RealClear polling average currently has him leading Biden by 2.1 points, 47.5% to 45.4%. If within the margin of error from the first three primary polls on Trump, he would still walk away with the win. Without Haley and her last-minute momentum skewing the polls, things may settle back into equilibrium. As the “herd” continues to move toward Trump as an inevitability, it becomes increasingly safe to support him. This makes people both more likely to support him, as well as more likely to admit it to pollsters. As a result, Trump’s lead should widen further and the polls should reflect it even more accurately.

This dynamic works in favor of Haley voters coming back to Trump. They are looking for the perception of moderation, stability and normalcy — and Haley herself will play a large part in convincing her voters whether Trump is the right candidate for the job.

Massive Protest Vote Sucks The Wind Out Of Biden’s Michigan Primary Victory

President Joe Biden won the Michigan Democratic primary Tuesday evening where 117 delegates were up for grabs, but faced a campaign that encouraged voters to support the “uncommitted” ballot option in protest to his handling of the war in Gaza, according to The Associated Press.

A group of Arab and Muslim American activists encouraged Michigan Democratic voters who oppose Biden’s support of Israel following the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack to vote against the president in the primary to send a political message ahead of November. Still, Biden won over 78.8% of Democratic primary voters compared to the “uncommitted’s” 15.8%, and Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips secured 2.7% support, the AP projected at the time of writing.

Democratic lawmakers in the state have rallied around the “Listen To Michigan” campaign, which has encouraged voters to support the “uncommitted” ballot option rather than voting for Biden. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, whose sister, Layla Elabed, is the campaign manager for the group, has also endorsed the effort that views Biden’s support for Israel as “funding war and genocide in Gaza.”

Elabed’s 10,000 vote threshold to measure the “Listen To Michigan’s” success was surpassed, as over 20,000 individuals backed the “uncommitted” ballot option. The “uncommitted” ballot option has received a similar number of votes in recent cycles, but made up for only 1.2% of the share in 2020 and 1.8% in 2016.

The state has one of the largest populations of Arab and Muslim Americans in the country, with Dearborn, Michigan, accounting for a high concentration of the community. Michigan is home to roughly 200,000 registered Muslim voters, and approximately 145,000 participated in the 2020 election, according to the Michigan chapter of Emgage, which aims to boost Muslim turnout.

Biden only beat former President Donald Trump by 154,000 votes last cycle.

A similar effort, the Abandon Biden campaign, formed due to Biden’s refusal to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, and is urging Muslim Americans to vote for anyone but the president. The group is operating in Michigan and other battleground states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Trump also beat former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley 65.5% to 30.2% in the Michigan primary, according to the AP’s projection. Haley has yet to win a single nominating contest, and she lost her home state of South Carolina by roughly 20 points on Saturday.

The RealClearPolitics average for a potential 2024 rematch between Trump and Biden, based on polls conducted between Feb. 13 and Feb. 25, indicates the former president is leading by 2.1 points. Biden is also lagging behind in several crucial battleground states, including Michigan.
