VIDEO: Ambassador Woolsey responds on The Kelly File to questions about Revamping the CIA

The Kelly File on January 5, 2017 interviewed Ambassador R. James Woolsey about his alleged leave taking from the Trump team.  In the course of which he gave his views about Obama era ‘reforms’ placing the  “OSS-legacy”  Clandestine Service underneath the Analysis bureaucracy silo at the CIA.  Kelly who is relentless about questioning media treatment used The Washington Post report as a means of eliciting Ambassador Woolsey’s response on his status with the Trump team.

Woolsey indicated that he had been involved with the Trump Presidential campaign acting to clarify positions on national security in media interviews, but was not part of the subsequent Trump transition team.  Given his several decades of valued service to this country under four administrations he had the requisite experience to formulate his own views about reform of the nation’s intelligence services.  Especially when he was Director of the CIA transitioning from Bush 41 through the first term of the Clinton Administration.  He has been critical of the Obama Administration encumbering the Clandestine Service by placing it under the Agency bureaucracy and Analysis Division. As he states in The Kelly File interview he had argued for the Clandestine service at the CIA to return to the pro-active OSS covert service origins enshrined in the National Security Act of 1947.

Evidence of  Woolsey’s concerns for vital reform of the CIA and other elements of the intelligence community are reflected in investigative journalist Ken Timmerman’s  2008 book, “Shadow Warriors: The Untold Story of Traitors, Saboteurs, and the Party of Surrender.”

Someone  involved with the Trump transition, who knows firsthand what both Ambassador Woolsey  spoke  of and Timmerman wrote about,  is former US UN Ambassador John Bolton.  Bolton confronted politicization of national intelligence estimates and WMD while an official at the State Department. That was prior to his pocket recess appointment as US UN Ambassador by Bush 43.  Bolton, by dint of his own experience and assessment of the effects of the Obama Administration implementation of intelligence reforms, may be acutely aware of the necessity for reform suggested by Ambassador Woolsey.

Note these comments of Ambassador Woolsey during the Fox News Kelly File interview:

Former CIA Director James Woolsey appeared on “The Kelly File” tonight to address a Washington Post report that claimed he has resigned from President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.

Woolsey, a veteran of four presidential administrations, explained that he worked as a senior advisor to the Trump campaign during the election, but he was never actually an advisor to the transition.

He said he felt it was important to clarify that, since he was still being referred to as “senior advisor to the Trump transition” when he made public or television appearances.

Megyn Kelly pointed out the Washington Post reported that Woolsey stepped away due to growing tensions over Trump’s vision for intelligence agencies and the fact that he had been excluded from discussions on intelligence matters.

Woolsey acknowledged he was not called upon to attend meetings or participate in discussions in recent weeks, but he would not confirm that he took issue with Trump’s reported plan of revamping the country’s intelligence framework

“I think it’s important to realize that there [is] more than one way to reform intelligence,” Woolsey said, adding that he disagrees with many recent bureaucratic, post-9/11 intelligence reforms.

As for whether he would support Trump’s plan for U.S. intelligence agencies, Woolsey said that would “depend where it goes.”

WATCH the FoxNews Kelly file interview: “Former CIA Director Woolsey Explains Why He’s No Longer Advising Trump Team”:

We got to know Ambassador R. Jim Woolsey several years ago when I participated in an early webcast on the Electronic Magnetic Pulse threat to our electrical grid with he and other experts.

During my stint as co-host and co-producer on the former Lisa Benson Radio Show on National Security, that association deepened when we addressed with his expertise matters ranging from EMP, to the lack of an adequate Ballistic Missile Defense and airport ‘security’.

Given his service on intelligence and ballistic missile negotiations under four US Presidents culminating in his role as CIA director under former President Clinton in the early 1990’s he demonstrated integrity. His role as a senior adviser during the Trump campaign lent gravitas as an elder statesman to discussions on national security.

We have noted in various articles and posts the history of intelligence community being politicized on these current and previous issues. That was particularly concerning to many of us with the faulty National Intelligence Estimates on the Iranian nuclear program, especially the 2007 NIE and WMD during the Second Gulf War. On the latter matter I happen to think based on the independent assessments of experts we highly value that Saddam Hussein transferred some critical CBW materials to Syria, perhaps with Russian Spetsnaz assistance. Ken Timmerman and others have written about that. Certainly Dr. Jill Bellamy knows the Biowarfare side of the Iraqi WMD capabilities that were transferred.

After all, both countries had Ba’athist dictatorships, despite the Assad family being an Alawite Shiite sect and Hussein a Sunni. We also know that former Hussein Ba’athist officers and intelligence officers formed the security spine of the Islamic State after the 2013 ‘jailbreak’ in Iraq. They were also familiar with the use of chemical weapons from the 1988 campaign against the Kurds that killed thousands and knew where certain caches were located.

On FoxNews, CNN and PBS interviews with Ambassador Woolsey he acquitted himself ably in addressing trump views on intelligence reform, allegations of Russian cyber hacking and interference with the 2016 Presidential election.

Thus, we commend him for his integrity for stating that he was no longer serving in the capacity as a senior adviser for the Trump team as the election campaign is past. That is sad to see occur. The incoming President deserves to have the widest possible range of informed views to assist in formulating coherent national security policy for the protection of our international security interests and fellow citizens.

Fakestream Media Watch: WaPo publishes two fake news stories in one week

The Washington Post has published two stories in one week that are untrue.

Warner Todd Huston from Breitbart News reports:

Amid all the inflated headlines about Russian “hacking” of the U.S., the Washington Post was forced to retool an article that falsely claimed a Vermont power plant was hacked by Russian hackers.

Late on Friday, December 30, the Post broke a story originally entitled, “Russian hackers penetrated U.S. electricity grid through a utility in Vermont, officials say.”

The Post story went on to say, “A code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration has been detected within the system of a Vermont utility, according to U.S. officials.”

But it appears that the paper published the shocking story before actually getting any quotes from the power company in Vermont. It also turned out that the paper’s tale was wildly wapo-logoexaggerated.

In a second column dated January 5th, 2017 titled “Former CIA director James Woolsey quits Trump transition team” states:

Former CIA director R. James Woolsey Jr., a veteran of four presidential administrations and one of the nation’s leading intelligence experts, resigned Thursday from President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team because of growing tensions over Trump’s vision for intelligence agencies.

Woolsey’s resignation as a Trump senior adviser comes amid frustrations over the incoming administration’s national security plans and Trump’s public comments undermining the intelligence community.

However on the Fox News The Kelly File Woolsey says he did not quit and that he was not a member of the Trump transition team and he did not quit. Watch the 4 minute interview between Woolsey and Kelly:

The Entire Refugee Admissions System is Broken!

screenshot-46Nayla Rush at the Center for Immigration Studies has done the work for us and analyzed a new UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) report which makes suggestions for reform that basically increases the number of migrants (aka refugees) that would move from the third world to the first.

Watch for it! They will be pushing for “alternative pathways” because they know that the refugee system they have been relying on is crumbling.

Of course, one option in that reform (in my opinion) should be to sever our connection with the UNHCR altogether and choose our own refugees (and how many!) and thus leave the UN out of our immigration business!

Wouldn’t it be great if Trump UN Ambassador Nikki Haley could preside over the process of severing our ties to the UNHCR!  (I can dream!)

Here is Rush’s opening paragraph:

The latest United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) resettlement assessment report summarizes its 2015 activities and introduces its 2017 strategic direction and needs.1 At a time when refugee protection is addressed on a global scale, the report, “UNHCR Projected Global Resettlement Needs 2017”, provides us with insightful information about submission categories and acceptance rates, top resettlement countries of origin and destination, and more. It also suggests how badly in need of reform the entire refugee system is. [Of course the UN’s idea of reform and ours is very different!—ed]

Obama’s Legacy: The rise of the ‘Alt-Left’

Merriam-Webster defines an insurgency as “a usually violent attempt to take control of a government : a rebellion or uprising.”

Four blacks Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; Brittany Covington, 18; and Tanishia Covington, 24, tortured a handicapped white boy. Brittany Covington posted the video below on her Facebook page [WARNING DISTURBING IMAGES]:

Tyler Durden from Zero Hedge reports, “Jordan Hill, 18, of Carpentersville; Tesfaye Cooper, 18, of Chicago; Brittany Covington, 18, of Chicago; and Tanishia Covington, 24, of Chicago; were each charged with aggravated kidnapping, hate crime, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and residential burglary, according to the Cook County state’s attorney. Hill was also charged with robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.”

Why is this case of torture and hate of blacks against whites so important? Because it is representative of the Alt-Left in America.

President Obama since his election has made the Democratic Party a coalition of tribes. Staffer for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert John Feehery in a June, 2009 CNN op-ed column “Why Democrats give GOP hope” stated that “Democrats are internally divided to a greater degree than Republicans.” Feehery wrote,

The Democratic Party can be seen as a coalition of tribes, much more so than Republican voters, who tend to be much more homogeneous racially and philosophically… The Democratic Party is dominated by six different — if overlapping — groups of voters.

The groups that Feehery listed in 2009 were: The Democratic leadership, Blue Dog Democrats, African-Americans, Hispanics, Union voters and Urban liberals.

Since 2009 these tribes have changed and become more prone to use violence to take control of local, state and the federal government. The Alt-Left is a rebellion against the American people. Today the Alt-Left coalition consists of new tribes. In a column The neo-Democrat Party: Devout followers of Marx, Mao and Mohammed I noted:

I believe what President Obama has truly done is fundamentally transformed the Democratic Party of JFK to the Democrat Party of BHO. I use the word Democrat because the Party of Obama is not Democratic, as envisioned by Thomas Jefferson. The membership of the neo-Democrat Party are made up primarily of the devout followers of Marx, Mao and Mohammed.

Those who oppose Obama and the neo-Democrat Party, including JFK Democrats, are subject to ridicule, rejection and bullying.

Extremism in the name of the collective is the over riding strategy of the neo-Democrat. Radicalism is the tactic. The more extreme the ideal, the more it is embraced. This leads to what some have labeled a form of political insanity. I call it political suicide. History teaches us that tyrants and tyranny ultimately lose the support of the masses. Why? Because the policies implemented harm the masses.

Ayn Rand wrote:

“The uncontested absurdities of today are the accepted slogans of tomorrow. They come to be accepted by degrees, by dint of constant pressure on one side and constant retreat on the other – until one day when they are suddenly declared to be the country’s official ideology.”

Here are some of the absurdities that have become the official ideology of the Alt-Left (i.e. Democratic Party):

  • The greatest national security threat is climate change (i.e. formerly global warming).
  • White Christian men are a greater threat than the Islamic State, Iran and the Black Lives Matter movement.
  • Spending on social programs is more important than spending on national security.
  • Engagement and dialogue with America’s enemies (i.e. Iran) is preferred to any form of confrontation.
  • Nationalized health care (the Affordable Care Act) is affordable.
  • Deficit spending is good for the economy and will create jobs.
  • Putting more Americans on the public dole is good for creating more government jobs.
  • Anyone who disagrees with the neo-Democrat Party policies is racist, homophobic, Islamophobic and a national security threat.
  • People don’t kill people, guns kill people (e.g. need to outlaw guns).
  • Public schools must teach children what to think, not how to think (i.e. Common Core).
  • Aborting the unborn and selling their body parts is noble.
  • Bigger government, more regulations and centralized powers and greater control over the behaviors of citizens is good.
  • Coal, oil and natural gas are evil.
  • Saving the planet is more important than saving the human race.
  • A weak America is good for world peace.
  • The Judeo/Christian God is dead.

The Democratic Party of JFK has morphed into the neo-Democrat Party of the Alt-Left by dint of constant pressure from the radicals and the constant retreat of the Jeffersonian Democrats.

Today the Democrat Party has fundamentally transformed into the party of Marx, Mao and Mohammed.

It is a struggle between the civilized man and the uncivilized man (savage).

Massacre

We have posted articles and interviews with the Chairman of the Sudan Unity Movement, General Abakar M. Abdallah about the threat of indicted war criminal Sudan’s President Omar Bashir raising a foreign mercenary jihad army to ethnically cleanse the Darfur, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile regions of the war torn country.

This New Year’s there was dramatic evidence of what General Abdallah had warned about, a massacre in the Central Darfur town of Nertiti by marauding Sudan Armed forces and Janjaweed mercenaries killing, injuring innocent civilians. Sudan expert and author Eric Reeves has published a report demonstrating Bashir’s callous intent when he declared a “cease fire” with resistance force.

The pictures that Reeves and other sources like Radio Dabanga have published tell a grisly story. This and other information has been passed on to the Trump transition team concerned with formulating a strategy to deal with the renegade Bashir regime.

The Bashir regime, backed with Saudi and Emirate funding, is posed to unleash ethnic cleansing of African tribes in Darfur, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile regions to exploit the natural resources both offshore in the Red seabed and on shore in Darfur and the Nuba Mountains.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of foreign Islamist terrorists and mujaheddin from across Africa and Syria are gathering and being trained in Sudan for conduct of this Jihad while the UN Security Council turns a blind eye, instead seeking to illegal isolate Israel.

Note what Eric Reeves writes about the Nertiti Massacre and why the outgoing Obama Administration has engaged in the folly of outreach to this rogue Islamist regime.

“We learn today from a wide range of sources just how meaningful Omar al-Bashir’s declaration of a one-month extension of his nominal “cease-fire” really is (see Sudan Tribune, January 1, 2017 | http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article61265/). Radio Dabanga, Sudan Tribune, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-North, and the Darfur Union in the UK have all reported within the last 24 hours on the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) massacre of civilians in Nertiti, Central Darfur (formerly West Darfur). Figures for casualties vary but suggest that some 60 – 70 civilians were killed or wounded during the vicious SAF rampage (Darfur Union UK lists the names and ages of 11 people killed—five of them under the age of 17). Notably, Radio Dabanga reports that the UN/African Union “hybrid” Mission in Darfur did not respond in any way to the massacre—the perfect image of impotence and indifference that now define UNAMID.

In the wake of such a brutal assault, condemned as of yet by no international actor of consequence, all we may be sure of is that al-Bashir’s “cease-fire” will end whenever his generals declare it is time to finish their genocidal business in Darfur, South Kordofan, and Blue Nile. The dry season has begun, and we should recall that the massive and brutal Jebel Marra offensive began exactly a year ago; there is simply no reason not to expect a follow-up campaign this year.

This brutal assault on innocent civilians by regular army forces is emblematic of just what the National Islamic Front/National Congress Party has always represented. That the countries of Europe and the Obama administration continue to seek rapprochement with these génocidaires for reasons of self-interest reflects the moral emptiness of their foreign policies toward Sudan.”

President Trump’s Immigration Challenge: To undo Obama’s catastrophic damage

On January 20, 2017 President Trump can and likely will end all of Obama’s illegal immigration executive orders, but he needs to do more.

For decades the effective enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws was hobbled by lack of resources in general and a particularly devastating failure to enforce the immigration laws from within the interior of the United States.

For decades the Border Patrol was perceived as the primary enforcement arm of America’s immigration laws and for the Border Patrol this worked out fine.  They got the lion’s share of publicity and, far more importantly, the funding while INS special agents and the interior enforcement mission were all but ignored

When the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) was created in the wake of the terror attacks of 9/11, the former INS was dismantled and broken into several components of the DHS and mixed in with other agencies, principally the U.S. Customs Service.

Bad as it was for INS agents to operate in the shadow of the Border Patrol, the creation of the DHS was disastrous and caused many of the INS agents nostalgic for “the good old days.”

On May 5, 2005 the House Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Claims conducted a hearing on the topic, “New ‘Dual Mission’ Of The Immigration Enforcement Agencies.”

I was one of four witnesses who testified at that hearing.  In point of fact, I testified at several hearings that sought to understand the challenges that the creation of the DHS created for the effective enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws.

In my testimony I clearly articulated my concerns about the myriad issues created when the DHS was established and the former INS was dismantled.

Consider this excerpt from the testimony of then-Subcommittee Chairman John Hostettler in which he articulated the importance of immigration law enforcement and that was, however, hobbled by the creation of the DHS:

The first two Subcommittee hearings of the year examined in detail how the immigration enforcement agencies have inadequate resources and too few personnel to carry out their mission. The witnesses mentioned the lack of uniforms, badges, detention space, and the inevitable low morale of frontline agents who are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of incoming illegal aliens. If this were not enough, these ”immigration enforcement” agencies also face internal confusion resulting from dual or multiple missions in which immigration has all too often taken a back seat. Sadly, contrary to Congress’ expectations, immigration enforcement has not been the primary focus of either of these agencies, and that is the subject of today’s hearing.

The Homeland Security Act, enacted in November 2002, split the former Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS, into separate immigration service and enforcement agencies, both within the Department of Homeland Security. This split had been pursued by Chairman Sensenbrenner based on testimony and evidence that the dual missions of INS had resulted in poor performance.

There was a constant tug-of-war between providing good service to law-abiding aliens and enforcing the law against law-breakers. The plain language of the Homeland Security Act, Title D, creates a ”Bureau of Border Security,” and specifically transfers all immigration enforcement functions of INS into it. Yet when it came down to actually creating the two: new agencies, the Administration veered off course. Although the service functions of INS were transferred to USCIS, the enforcement side of INS was split in two, what is now Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, to handle interior enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to guard our borders.

ICE was given all Customs agents, investigators, intelligence and analysis-from the Treasury Department, as well as the Federal Protective Service to guard Federal buildings, and the Federal Air Marshals to protect our airplanes, and finally the INS investigators.

CBP was given all Treasury Customs inspectors at the ports-of-entry, Agriculture Inspector from the Department Of Agriculture, and INS inspectors.

At no time during the reorganization planning was it anticipated by the Committee that an immigration enforcement agency would share its role with other enforcement functions, such as enforcement of our customs laws. This simply results in the creation of dual or multiple missions that the act sought to avoid in the first place.

Failure to adhere to the statutory framework established by HSA has produced immigration enforcement incoherence that undermines the immigration enforcement mission central to DHS, and undermines the security of our Nation’s borders and citizens.

It is not certain on what basis it was determined that customs and agriculture enforcement should become part of the immigration enforcement agency, except to require Federal agents at the border to have more expertise and more functions.

It is also unknown on what basis the Federal Air Marshals should become part of this agency, especially since it has been revealed that the policy is not to apprehend out-of-immigration status aliens when discovered on flights. If the mission of the Department of Homeland Security is to protect the homeland, it cannot effect its mission by compromising or neglecting immigration enforcement for customs enforcement.

The 9/11 terrorists all came to the United States without weapons or contraband—Added customs enforcement would not have stopped 9/11 from happening. What might have foiled al Qaeda’s plan was additional immigration focus, vetting and enforcement. And so what is needed is recognition that, one, immigration is a very important national security issue that cannot take a back seat to customs or agriculture. Two, immigration is a very complex issue, and immigration enforcement agencies need experts in immigration enforcement. And three, the leadership of our immigration agencies should be shielded from political pressures to act in a way which could compromise the Nation’s security.

It was clear that the Bush administration was eager to de-emphasize immigration law enforcement.  What was not noted in the testimony is that most of the management at ICE came from Legacy Customs and not from Legacy INS.

However, as bad as things became when the DHS was created by the Bush administration, the Obama administration, once again, caused ICE agents to become nostalgic about “the good old days” of the Bush administration.

While nature’s laws are immutable, legislated laws are not.  Law enforcement personnel are essential to the enforcement of laws.

The incoming Trump administration must make effective interior enforcement of our immigration laws a key priority if his immigration policies are to be successful.

Additionally, because of the policies of the Obama administration, there is an abject lack of managers and agents who have any actual experience or understanding of effective immigration law enforcement.

Institutional memory about effective immigration law enforcement has been all but expunged from the DHS.

Furthermore, most federal prosecutors lack experience in bringing criminal charges for violations of immigration laws.

I would recommend that the Trump administration make training a key priority for all prosecutors and immigration enforcement programs as well as for the employees of USCIS.

They all need to work cooperatively and collaboratively.

The culture of the adjudications program that is the realm of USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) is to not cooperate with the ICE agents.  This culture was created and nurtured by the Obama administration.

The Trump administration must swiftly remove or reassign any USCIS managers who refuse to cooperate fully and collaboratively with ICE enforcement personnel.

Consider a particularly egregious case involving the manager of the San Bernardino office of USCIS obstructed ICE/HSI agents assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force from entering her facility.  They were seeking to locate and arrest a suspected co-conspirator of the San Bernardino terror attack less than 24 hours after that attack.

She was subsequently nominated for the prestigious Secretary’s Award.

My article about this insanity included this excerpt:

On March 16, 2016, Senator Ron Johnson, the Chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, requested an investigation by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Homeland Security into the circumstances surrounding this monumental screw-up.  On June 1, 2016 the OIG report of the investigation was made public.

This is how the OIG report described the outrageous confrontation between the USCIS manager and the ICE agents:

The Field Office Director told the agents they were not allowed to arrest, detain, or interview anyone in the building based on USCIS policy, and that she would need to obtain guidance from her superior before allowing them access. During this exchange, the agents also spoke by phone with the Acting Chief, Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS), USCIS, Los Angeles. According to the HSI agents, he told the agents that it was USCIS policy not to arrest, detain, or interview on USCIS property.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) also accused her of lying to their investigators.

President-elect Trump’s has focused on immigration.  He will have the unique opportunity to address the multiple failures of the immigration system, many of which are decades old while some were created by the Obama administration.

Trump’s leadership can undo the madness foisted on America and Americans by the Obama administration and even correct the errors inherent in the way that the DHS was created in response to the terror attacks of 9/11.

What a way to start the new year and a new administration.

Mama Merkel: Boo-hoo! We tried to help them and they attack us

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has a bad year ahead.  On December 19th, a failed asylum seeker killed a dozen people celebrating a Christmas tradition in Berlin. Here we learn that a Syrian refugee (who had been granted permission to stay in dear old Deutschland) has been arrested on terror charges, and she is up for election later this year. To top it off Donald Trump, rather than her soulmate Barack Obama, will be in the White House.

A Syrian migrant who arrived in Germany two years ago has been arrested on suspicion of seeking funds from Islamic State to drive truck bombs into a crowd, a German state prosecutor’s office said on Monday.

The arrest follows an attack two weeks ago when a Tunisian whose asylum request had been rejected rammed a truck into a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 people. The man, Anis Amri, 24, was later shot dead by Italian police.

In the latest case, the prosecutor in the western city of Saarbruecken said the 38-year-old Syrian was detained on Saturday and a formal arrest warrant was issued on Sunday on suspicion that he was trying to raise 180,000 euros ($189,000) to fund an attack.

[….]

The Syrian is from the city of Raqqa, Islamic State’s main stronghold in the country. The prosecutor’s office in Saarbruecken, near the French border, had been alerted to his activities by the BKA federal crime office.

The Syrian came to Germany on Dec. 5, 2014, just before a wave of more than 1.1 million asylum-seekers arrived from the Middle East, Africa and Asia in 2015. He was given permission to stay in Germany on Jan. 12, 2015.

Chancellor Angela Merkel, who made the now-controversial decision to open the country’s borders to refugees in September, 2015, described Islamist terrorism on New Year’s Eve as the greatest test facing Germany.

She has also said she is sickened by the prospect that refugees Germany has tried to help could mount attacks.

Remembering the 1979 Russian Invasion of Afghanistan: How Democrats created radical Islamic terrorism

Don Hank in an email titled “This is how the terror started (in 1979)” provided this quote:

In his 1993 memoirs [“From the Shadows“], ex-Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) Robert Gates revealed that direct CIA involvement in Afghanistan had commenced almost six months before the Soviet invasion. Jimmy Carter signed a presidential decree in July 1979 to covertly aid the Mujahideen insurgents.

Hank then wrote, “And then came Al-Qaeda and the 9-11 attack, and then ISIS and the invasion of Europe. It all seems to have started with the CIA. If you want a war on terror, you have to start with the people who spawned the terror. A true war on terror would include a war on the CIA. It starts with education.”

Hank provided a link to a Daryl Morini, paper dated January 3rd, 2010 titled “Why Did the Soviet Union Invade Afghanistan?.” Morini wrote:

The Soviet intervention in Afghanistan was a costly and, ultimately, pointless war. Historical hindsight has made this evident. However, exactly why the Red Army wound up in direct military conflict, embroiled in a bitter and complicated civil war—some 3,000 kilometres away from Moscow—is a point of historiographical uncertainty. The evidence available suggests that geopolitical calculations were at the top of the Kremlin’s goals. These were arguably to deter US interference in the USSR’s ‘backyard’, to gain a highly strategic foothold in Southwest Asia and, not least of all, to attempt to contain the radical Islamic revolution emanating from Iran. The subsidiary goal of the invasion was to secure an ideologically-friendly régime in the region.

Following the 1970s period of détente between the United States (US) and the Soviet Union, the latter seemed to be in an advantageous strategic position, compared to the post-Vietnam paralysis which plagued its main opponent. Scott McMichael, a military historian, argued that this “turned out largely to be an illusion,” although there is substance to the claim that the Soviet Union was ahead of the game in the lead u p to 1979. This is exemplified by Moscow’s increasing assertiveness in foreign affairs during this period. As a direct result of the so-called ‘Brezhnev doctrine’, the USSR asserted its “right and duty” to go to war in foreign countries “if and when an existing socialist regime was threatened.” [Emphasis added]

Is Russia, under Putin, making the same mistake that his predecessors in the Former Soviet Union made by exerting Russia’s “right and duty” to go to war in foreign countries “if an when an existing socialist regime [like Assad’s Syria] was threatened.” According to Wikipedia:

The Ba’ath Party, and indirectly the Syrian Regional Branch, was established on 7 April 1947 by Michel Aflaq (a Christian), Salah al-Din al-Bitar (a Sunni Muslim) and Zaki al-Arsuzi (an Alawite). According to the congress, the party was “nationalist, populist, socialist, and revolutionary” and believed in the “unity and freedom of the Arab nation within its homeland.”

The party merged with the Arab Socialist Party (ASP), led by Akram al-Hawrani, to establish the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party in Lebanon following Adib Shishakli‘s rise to power. [Emphasis added]

Has President Obama made the same mistake as Jimmy Carter did in 1979 by arming the anti-Assad Mujahideen insurgents? Is the CIA complicit, once again, in doing the wrong thing for what it believes is in America’s national interests?

President-elect Donald J. Trump has expressed his doubts about the CIA and other U.S. national intelligence agencies, especially when it comes to Russia, Iran, North Korea, China and Syria.

On January 20th, 2017 Donald J. Trump will be sworn into the Office of the President of these United States. Will a President Trump learn from the failures of both Democratic President’s Carter and Obama? Me thinks so.

Donald J. Trump on Phyllis Schlafly: ‘She never wavered’ … Nor will I

As Americans anticipate the inauguration and administration of President-elect Donald J. Trump, it is fitting that we remember the life of Phyllis Schlafly the leader of the pro-life movement. President-elect Trump has promised to appoint strict Constitutionalist pro-life Supreme Court Justices in the mold of Anthony Scalia.

In a the column LifeNews.com column Donald Trump: “I Am Pro-Life and I Will be Appointing Pro-Life Judges” to the Supreme Court Steven Ertelt reported:

During tonight’s presidential debate [on October 19, 2016 at University of Nevada-Las Vegas] Donald Trump made it very clear that he will appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court who would be likely to overturn the Roe versus Wade decision that has led to 58 million abortions.

Trump said he is pro-life and the kinds of Judges he would put on the nation’s highest court are those that would be the kind pro-life voters would appreciate. For pro-life voters, the Supreme Court is probably the most important election issue this year as the nation’s highest court could control the fate of abortion for decades to come and whether another 58 million abortions happen or if unborn children will eventually enjoy legal protection.

“The Supreme Court – it’s what it’s all about. Our country is so, just so imperative that we have the right justices,” Trump said. ” I feel that the justices that I am going to appoint– and I’ve named 20 of them. The justices that I’m going to appoint will be pro-life. They will have a conservative bent.

When then candidate Trump said this perhaps he was thinking of Phyllis Schlafly? It may be so because at her funeral just a month before this debate Trump stated, “[W]e will never ever let you down.” I now appears that a President Trump will keep his promise to Phyllis.

Thank you very much. What a great honor. And what a great lady.

We are here today to honor the life and legacy of a truly great American patriot. I wish first and most importantly to extend my deepest heartfelt condolences to her six wonderful children who she loved so much – John, Bruce, Roger, Liza, Andy, and Anne. And also her sixteen grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.

A movement has lost its hero. And believe me, Phyllis was there for me when it was not at all fashionable. Trust me. You have lost a mother. An amazing mother. And our country has lost a true patriot. Phyllis was a strong, proud, fierce, and tireless warrior; and that’s what she was – she was a warrior. And she was a warrior for the country, which she loved so much. Even at the age of 92, this beloved woman had more strength and fire and heart than 50 strong politicians all put together. Believe me, I witnessed it. To borrow a phrase from a great poet, Phyllis was “that strength which in all days moved heaven and earth.” This incredible woman has been active in American politics for one quarter of American history – think of that. One quarter of American history. And at the top! She was the ultimate happy warrior – always smiling, but boy could she be tough. We all know that. And in all of her battles, she never strayed from the one guiding principle – she was for America. And it was always America first. People have forgotten that nowadays. With Phyllis it was America first.

She never wavered. Never apologized. And never backed down in taking on the kingmakers. She never stopped fighting for the fundamental idea that the America people ought to have their needs come before anything or anyone else. She loved her country, she loved her family, and she loved her God.

Her legacy will live on every time some underdog – outmatched and outgunned – defies the odds and delivers a win for the people. America has always been about the underdog and always about defying the odds. The idea that so-called “little people” or the “little person,” that she loved so much, could beat the system – often times the rigged system (we’ve been hearing a lot about it) – that the American grassroots is more powerful than all of the worlds’ special interests put together. And that’s the way Phyllis felt. She’s always felt that way. That’s the romance of America; that’s the story of the mother and the patriot that we honor here today. Phyllis, who has rejoined with her late husband Fred, is looking down on us right now and I’m sure that she’s telling us to keep up the fight – no doubt. No doubt about it.

Phyllis we love you, we miss you, and we will never ever let you down. God bless you, Phyllis. God bless her family. And God bless everyone. Thank you very much, thank you.

Winter 2017: Behind the Enemy’s Front Lines

Late December, 2016 saw many, many changes in the Middle East, especially concerning the tentacles of ISIS. The strangle-hold on the second largest town in Iraq, Mosul, where ISIS has controlled since early summer, 2014, began to loosen when one-third of the town of 1.5 million was NOT under the control of ISIS.

Rev. Bob Armstrong of Love-Link Ministries from Bradenton, Florida (and “Operation Freed from ISIS”), yes me, I was invited by Kurdish leadership to see firsthand and to minister firsthand to those in need in this embattled city. However, due to continued skirmishes and the planting of Explosive devices by retreating ISIS, the government did not want to be “responsible” for an American; and complete access was denied. But at least I had the opportunity of going to the outskirts of the city and minister to warriors, refugees, homeless, colonels, even pray for Iraqi soldiers en-route to battle in Mosul, less than 7 miles away.

I even came within 20 feet of five ISIS Prisoners of War!

But first I stopped by the Armenian Christian village of Havresc (near the Syrian border) to visit school children where Love-Link helped to provide a school van so they could go to school in Duhok, Kurdistan. I was with my close warrior friend and mayor, _________. Tears came to his eyes as I was privileged to unveil for the very first time in that town the movie, “Havresc”!

Love-Link continues to reach out to survivors of ISIS by distributing food and diapers to those needy in tents. For security concerns, I cannot mention names or show faces, but Love-Link continues to rescue girls and families physically from ISIS and assists in their rehabilitation!

On top of the roof of Samaritan’s Purse in Kurdistan overlooking the Kanke Camp which houses 16,000.

One of the very highlights of this dangerous trip was spending a few hours with the top leadership of “Samaritan’s Purse” outside Dohuk at the Kanke Refugee camp which houses 16,000! We explored and discussed ways to work together mutually on special outreaches in the future. Fantastic Win!

I spent three days with a devoted Kurdistan pastor in Dohuk, preaching in his church and ministering and praying along-side of Pastor K. We visited in the homes of needy refugee families and gave out money and food. Most of these fled from Mosul earlier this year.

On a humorous note, I stayed one night in a “hell-hotel” (that’s okay, when I first went on the mission field, I slept in a tent!). Here were the amenities: No Internet, No electricity, NO heat in freezing weather, and NO toilet paper! You must bring your own. By the way, the importance was NOT in that order! I must confess, I “stole” from poor refugees! Let me explain: when a guest arrives in your home, they are served a cup of hot tea. On the table is a box of facial tissues (for napkins). I must admit, I took 8 tissues for later use, just in case—if you know what I mean! I know, kind of selfish.

The rescue of a women from ISIS.

With special permission, I went to Qaraqosh, a former, thriving city with many well-to-do-people of 75,000, outside Mosul. Thanks to ISIS, it was a true eerie “ghost town” with bombings and burnings from ISIS two years ago still evident. I warmly embraced Colonel _________ of the Nineveh Protection Unit, my host. He described how thankful he was for evangelical Americans who supported these Assyrians (first Christians) during the war on ISIS. Small signs of life started to show as hundreds had begun to come to clean up. It is gratifying to know (because I saw the footage on a national U.S. news channel upon my return to the States) that on Christmas Sunday, services were held in one church for the first time in over two years!! Food and water was delivered to the town. Iraqi military forces embark on a battle with ISIS in Mosul!

Qaraqosh was recently liberated by Iraqi and Kurdish forces. I prayed for one large 35-armored vehicle Iraqi force that was moving out to fight ISIS in Mosul that very day! The V for victory sign was shared by all.

But so, so much of the town remains in ruins. Even the burned-out churches had ISIS practice targets inside, not to mention the ISIS tunnels that were used by the enemy extensively. The devastation reminds me of French towns destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. The rubble and debris is sometimes several feet high. Most people will not return. But some clean-up has begun. I tell you, it is hard to encourage those involved in this sordid process, especially with ISIS only miles away.

Shoes and sandals inside a church belonging people, many church-goers, who were literally slaughtered by ISIS.

Most tragic, was the gathering of several shoes and sandals inside a church which represented people, many church-goers, who were literally slaughtered by ISIS. They were buried without their shoes.

It was the most solemn moment as one realized that every shoe had a different, horrible tragic ending, but it represented a life of dedication. That site shook me to my very core!

In Qaraqosh the author picked up a burnt prayer book which survived the devastation.

In one of the burned-out churches in Qaraqosh, I picked up a burnt prayer book that somehow halfway survived the flames. As I held that prayer book in my hand, I prayed for this nation that God would show me how to be the most effective with His resources to bring people to the Lord and to happiness and peace. The burnt smell will forever go with me!

A respite of Christmas happiness and joy, I was with William Murray, the founder of the Religious Freedom Coalition, the umbrella group of Christmas for Refugees and Diapers for Refugees. I’ve been on the Board for over 30 years and have worked with Bill on numerous projects. I represented him in Lebanon for three days at events and was with him for several events with children and mothers in Kurdistan. Examining a burnt prayer book inside ISIS destroyed church near Mosul!

Overall, about 6,000 children and refugees were given food and gifts, hundreds of refugee mothers received specially designed “hygiene kits” and over 160,000 diapers for refugee mothers were recently delivered. I saw firsthand what a difference Bill Murray is making. And all received the Bethlehem Christmas story of hope! My original plan was to have a mini-summit of organization leaders figure out a game plan on how to deal with almost 100,000 refugees from Mosul alone. I interviewed 12 organization leaders on their thoughts and plans. Things are noticeably different. For example, the governments of Erbil (Kurdistan capital) and Duhok do NOT want ANY Arab refugees inside their cities. They understand that ISIS has infiltrated the Arab refugees and they do not want any trouble, so they are in United Nations camps way outside the cities. (I wish our December USA government would take note of the same!!). Outreaches to these refugees are ongoing and might even be manageable with the help of Christians!

THANK YOU for your prayers while I was in the war zone!

I am already in contact with Samaritan’s Purse in Kurdistan to push forward ways of mutual co-operation for my next mission’s trip, depending upon the strategies and outreaches.

Celebrating the New Year With Our 100 Day Plan

Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days, of yore …” Christmas was awesome! Since moving to Florida 16 years ago, this was Mary and my first Christmas back to Baltimore for the annual Christmas Eve festivities at my dad’s home. My four younger siblings, their kids and grand-kids were there. The millennial girls prepared a delicious homemade feast. We joined hands in a huge circle for Dad to say grace.

Dad, 89 caught me by surprise. Passing the baton of family leadership, Dad said his time was running out and they should come to me as patriarch of the family.

I’m a mystery to many in my family; the embarrassing traitorous black political activist they see in the media bashing their beloved Obama. So when patriarch Dad said this is my beloved son, hear ye him, that was huge. It is a responsibility I take very seriously.

As Chairman of the Conservative Campaign Committee, I am with our team in a secured underground bunker in an undisclosed location planning our strategy for assisting the implementation of The 100 Day Plan (Donald Trump’s Contract With The American Voter); just kidding about the bunker.

While I did not become a Christian preacher like my dad, politics is my ministry. This battle goes beyond Democrats vs Republicans/Conservatives vs Liberals. We battle not against flesh and blood, but spiritual wickedness in high places; good vs evil. No, I am not saying everything Republican is good. I am saying 99% of the modern Democrat party’s agenda is anti-God, anti-America and anti-traditional wholesome values. If you believe you’re a chicken trapped in a human body, count on the democrats to pass legislation to fund your feather implants and force us to celebrate your Chickenization.

During the debates Trump said partial-birth abortion is wrong. Hillary’s shocking retort was a woman has the right to kill her baby on the day of delivery. Then, she used the Left’s tactic of attempting to brand anyone who thinks otherwise a male Neanderthal who hates women. Evil folks.

Trump’s landslide electoral victory was clearly a repudiation of the Left’s agenda from forcing Americans to allow men to use restrooms with their daughters to dethroning America as the world power.

I am convinced many still do not comprehend the Left’s disdain for us normal Americans, God, traditional family and country. Forcing the Left’s minority agenda down our throats is all that matters; trumping national security and American lives. Therefore, no tactic is too deadly, divisive or evil. This is the arena in which we fight. Some on our side still don’t get it; wanting to bring an olive branch or a knife to a gun fight.

With blood coming out of their eyes from hate and rage, the Left is committed 24/7 to branding Trump’s election illegitimate and blocking our 100 Day Plan.

Leftist actor Charlie Sheen tweeted that he wishes for the death of Trump.

Extreme Leftist, Democrat Rep. Maxine Walters vowed, “I’m going to fight him every inch of the way!”

Make no mistake about it folks, all the Left’s vitriol against Trump is really their hatred for us; every day Americans. CNN’s hate-filled Leftist Van Jones slandered Trump voters calling them angry white racist against a changing country and a black president.

Even Leftist columnist Maureen Dowd had to admit that this election was Americans rejecting Obama’s and the Left’s agenda. Mr. Trump received over 62 million votes, not all of them cast by homophobes, Islamophobes, racists, sexists, misogynists or any other “ists.”

So here we are folks. The Inauguration is weeks away. The Left true to its evil nature is still being obstructive; spewing fear and hate including celebs refusing to perform at the Inauguration. Fine. This is God’s way of providing an opportunity for other deserving artists.

I’m so excited about the new year 2017. However, the Left “ain’t” stoppin’ and they ain’t goin’ away. I cannot express enough how crucially important it is that we stay alert and protective of our 100 Day Plan; doing everything legally possible to push it through.

I feel like singing, “Happy days are here again…The skies above are clear again…So let’s sing a song of cheer again…Happy days are here again!”

What’s Truly Remarkable about Bitcoin: It Exists by Jeffrey Tucker

It was the second week of February 2013 when I first ventured a public opinion that Bitcoin is the real deal. The dollar exchange rate was at $25, on its way toward another run-up and crash that had been the pattern for two years.

I had just returned from a conference where some Bitcoiners surrounded me and force-fed me the information I needed to know. It would take another two months before I wrapped my brain around it enough to be able to write an article. But in these early days, it was enough publicly to dispense with incredulity to cause the ceiling to fall in.

To this day, I’ve never faced such a barrage of criticism. Derision, ridicule, outrage, disgust – I saw it on my feed, all of it very personal and hugely inflammatory. It was my first experience with what it is like to feel like that whole world is against you (an illusion social media specializes in creating).

And yet I completely understood why. I had been reviewing submissions on Bitcoin since 2009, and I had not been a believer either.

Money for Nothing?

How can you create money out of computer code? That struck me as absurd, a techno version of alchemy. Money had to grow out of commodities used in barter – this is what Carl Menger had proven. If Bitcoin had a value, it had to be an error, a result of clever marketing, like any Ponzi scheme. Like many observers at the time (and there weren’t that many), I had no idea about the underlying payment system (the Blockchain) or the complex history of fits and starts that led to its creation in 2008. I had read the original “white paper” but could hardly understand the language.

So, yes, I dismissed it.

Bitcoin Didn’t Care About My Theory

Groucho Marx once said: “Who you gonna believe, me or your own eyes?”

After having acquired Bitcoin and used it, I had to deal with something that became profoundly important in my own intellectual life. I had to recognize the reality of something my mind could not explain. I had been writing about money, its history and theory, since college. I thought I knew it all. Now this thing came along that blew up all my understanding. Who was I going to believe, myself or my own eyes?

I finally decided in favor of my eyes. The market had outwitted my expertise. This was a very humbling experience for me, and it taught me a lesson I hope never to forget. Never become so wrapped up in the certainty of your own opinions that you fail to look out the window and walk the streets to discover something that challenges what you think you know. It’s a Hayekian point but one that intellectuals are prone to ignore.

First Public Writing

As Bitcoin reaches the age of 7 and is again floating around an exchange rate of 1BTC to $1,000, I decided to look back at my first public writing on the topic (April 1, 2013), just to re-experience the lesson. And by the way, all credit to Max Borders (then the editor of FEE) and Lawrence Read (president of FEE) for daring to publish this piece, which defied all conventional wisdom. They were willing to take the risk on this piece, which was probably the first major article in the established free-market opinion world to say: this is real and it matters.

As I look back, I put the most important point up front:

Understanding Bitcoin requires that we understand the limits of our ability to imagine the future that the market can create for us.

Thirty years ago, for example, if someone had said that electronic text—digits flying through the air and landing in personalized inboxes owned by us all that we check at will at any time of the day or night—would eventually displace first-class mail, you might have said it was impossible.

After all, not even the Jetsons had email. Elroy brought notes home from his teacher on pieces of paper. Still, email has largely displaced first-class mail, just as texting, social networking, private messaging, and even digital vmail via voice-over-Internet are replacing the traditional telephone.

It turns out that the future is really hard to imagine, especially when entrepreneurs specialize in surprising us with innovations. The markets are always outsmarting even the most wild-eyed dreamers, and they are certainly smarter than the intellectual who keeps saying: such and such cannot happen.

It’s the same today. What if I suggested that digital money could eventually come to replace government paper money?

I then marched through the reasons for my conversion to the cause. The main one was the realization that Bitcoin reproduced a key feature of money that no previous attempt at digital money had achieved: scarcity. The algorithm assigned property rights to the units in question. At that point, this was enough for me to see that it could become money. It would take another year before I discerned its intellectual origins, and another half-year before I could intelligently explain why Bitcoin gained value in the first place.

My first article concluded:

It’s possible that Bitcoin will flop. Maybe it is just the first generation. Maybe thousands of people will lose their shirts in this first go-round. But is the digitization of money coming? Absolutely. Will there always be skeptics out there? Absolutely. But in this case, they are not in charge. Markets will do what they do, building the future whether we approve or understand it fully or not. The future will not be stopped.

And Yet, the Price Doesn’t Matter

Like many observers, I became caught up in the exchange rate madness, thinking that a higher rate confirmed my embrace while a lower rate raised doubts. In my mind, I became a cheerleader for the Bitcoin boom and correctly predicted the first price break above $1,000 (December 2013) but failed to predict the bust that followed.

In retrospect, I should have stayed focussed on my main theme that started me off on this journey. The remarkable thing about Bitcoin is not its upward trajectory in valuation, the rate of its adoption, the pace which which it made its march to the mainstream. All that comes in time, and no one is in charge of the process or pace or direction of change. The main insight I had at the time is still the right one. What’s wonderful about Bitcoin is that it exists at all.

Money for the digital age, and without the state: the concept has been proven. That’s what matters. The technology is known. It works. It represents a path for reforming the world’s monetary and legal systems. It points to a bright future.

It is all the more wonderful to consider the glorious way in which Bitcoin has outsmarted the experts, including me. And this is precisely why I adore market forces so much. No one is in charge of them. No one can consistently outthink them. Markets keep us humble. They constantly remind us that even the most astute and prescient observer can be surprised, even shocked.

I like living in such a world, one where the future is not only unknown but unknowable. That will always be true, and this is also why no one will finally gain control of it.

That is the lesson that the astonishing experience with Bitcoin teaches us.

Prime Minister of Israel invited to Inauguration of 45th President of the United States

Change and hope are in the wind. It appears that President-elect Trump’s transition team is seeking to change course in its foreign policy even before Donald J. Trump is inaugurated at 12:00 o’clock on January 20th, 2017.

World Jewish Daily reports:

Advisors to Donald Trump want Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attend the President-elect inauguration this month.

According to the New York Post, Trump’s son-in-law and top aide Jared Kushner, who is Jewish, is “aggressively courting” Netanyahu in hopes the prime minister will come to the ceremony.

A source within the Trump transition team told the Post that even if Netanyahu does not attend, Trump and the prime minister are in close contact and a meeting between the two men will definitely take place.

“There’s a plan for Trump to meet with Netanyahu. They’re talking all the time. And Netanyahu is talking about possibly going to the inauguration,” the Post quoted the source as saying.

Trump has taken a strongly pro-Israel stance since being elected, including a brutal criticism of President Barack Obama’s recent anti-Israel moves at the U.N.
