The Democrat Party Implodes

As the 2020 political campaign intensifies, we are witnessing some rather strange phenomena; for example:

The Democrat controlled House Judiciary Committee struck out with the Mueller investigation, but they are still bent on pursuing presidential impeachment, even though there is no evidence to support it. This is being done to placate the far-left Democrats, not moderates who are weary of such shenanigans and want to see the Congress tackle legitimate problems. In a nutshell, the committee investigation is for show only as the Democrats know they cannot possibly impeach the president as it will not pass the Republican controlled Senate, but they want to keep their base in line for the coming election by demonstrating their hatred for Mr. Trump.

Left-wing Democrats in Congress are also at odds with moderates of their own party. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is having trouble keeping the radical newcomers in line. Some of these people are openly undermining members of their own party for political purposes. For example, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently threw her support to a progressive congressional candidate in Illinois instead of incumbent Rep. Dan Lipinski, a moderate Democrat. The message is clear, the far-left wants the moderates out.

In the presidential race, far-left Democrats are desperately trying to push moderate candidate VP Joe Biden out of the race, not just because he is currently the front runner but because he is not an uber-liberal. There is a very good chance this will happen, and I believe a far-left candidate will get the nod instead, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

As I keep saying to my old Democrat friends, this is no longer your father’s party. It is not the party of Kennedy, LBJ, Carter and the Clintons. As liberal as these people seemed at the time, they are considered conservative by today’s standards. Instead, it has morphed into the far-left who have seized control of the party, with encouragement from the media.

What we are watching is actually quite fascinating as it ultimately represents the death-roll of the Democrats. The party is hopelessly fractured and, as a result, we will likely see a new party emerge following the election, either a far-left version or a moderate. As the far-left wrestles away control from the moderates, they will likely lose the support of traditional Democrats who will stay home election day. They may not be able to bring themselves to vote for Mr. Trump, but they also cannot stomach the zaniness of the far-left.

This division means one thing, Mr. Trump will run away with the election. Whoever the Democrat candidate becomes, Mr. Trump will trounce the person on the debate stage, particularly when it comes to economics, which the Democrats are trying to offset by claiming a fake recession is in the offing. Bottom-line, Mr. Trump will do just fine, but what about congressional Republicans? If they abandon the president, they will be the ones taking the risk, not the president.

One thing is clear, the Democrats offer no platform other than Socialism and Trump-bashing, believing this will carry them to victory next year. The only thing they have successfully created is a hysteria to comfort their supporters and terrorize the general public, all of which denotes their desperation. It is no longer about issues, it is about panic.

The American public however is tired of the hateful histrionics and desperately wants to see the country tackle real problems, thus presenting the Republicans with a golden opportunity, namely: a new Contract with America.

The first Contract with America was written back in 1994 by Republican Representatives Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey. It was positive and upbeat, and the public took notice thereby allowing the GOP to finally retake the House, under a Democrat President no less (Bill Clinton). To their credit, they followed the contract and made sweeping reforms.

This is just the type of thing necessary for the Republicans to take back the House and secure their position in the Senate. If they were to introduce a new contract, it would go a long way to re-instilling confidence in the party.

We do not lack for areas to address in a new contract; immigration, health care, infrastructure, lobbying reform, term limits, reducing the debt, election reform, energy and environment, all come to mind immediately. This would show true initiative, something the Democrats are incapable of producing at this time. They only want oddball things to secure their control over the government, such as eliminating the Electoral College, changing the number and tenure of Supreme Court justices, lowering the voting age to 16, giving illegal immigrants the right to vote and massive entitlements, and The New Green Deal (aka, the “Socialist Manifesto”).

To make a new Contract though requires leadership, a la Newt Gingrich, but I am afraid I do not yet see this person in the Republican House ranks, except possibly coming from the House Freedom Caucus. A new contract is nice, but new Republican leadership is needed to make it happen. Milquetoast candidates need not apply.

Again, a new Contract for America is a golden opportunity to re-take the Congress and actually do some good for the country. Let the Democrats desperately squawk about President Trump all they want. While they turn the country off doing this, the Republicans could create a contract with substantial legislation. The far-left will not be interested, but most of America certainly will, at least those who want to see our Congress return to work.

Should the Republicans fail to produce such a compact, they will be admitting they are nothing more than a part of the Washington “establishment,” and don’t deserve our votes.

Keep the Faith!

Marriage on the Rock or Marriage on the Rocks

Many years ago, when “Dear Abby” was in many newspapers, there appeared this interesting exchange: “Dear Abby, I am 44 and would like to meet a man my age with no bad habits. Signed, Rose.” “Dear Rose, so would I. Signed, Abby.”

George Washington once observed, “I have always considered marriage as the most interesting event in one’s life, the foundation of happiness or misery.”

Recently, I preached on the subject of Marriage on the Rock (as in Jesus Christ) versus Marriage on the Rocks.

My long time pastor, Dr. D. James Kennedy, once noted that, before God created the church or the state, he created the family—beginning with marriage.

Marriage is special to God. The Bible opens with a marriage. The Bible closes with a marriage. Marriage is the picture of the believer’s relationship with Christ. That’s why Satan aims his big guns at marriage.

Marriage is good for society because it is the first defense against evil. Marriage is the building block of any community.

Generally, research shows people are happier when married, but you wouldn’t necessarily know that in our culture at large. Nicholas H. Wolfinger asked in an article, “Are Married People Still Happier?” He concludes in the affirmative—that data collected from the General Social Survey (the GSS) indicates that “married adults are much happier than unmarried adults.”

Nonetheless, marriage is under siege today. But is that necessarily new? In 1983, the U.S. Senate held “Broken Families Hearings.” They drew from a Harvard historian named Carle Zimmerman who had described in 1947 the “last stage of the disintegration” of the cultures of Greece and Rome. Here’s how Zimmerman described familial breakdown, which contributed to the fall of those ancient countries:

  1. Marriage loses its sacredness and is frequently broken by divorce….
  2. The traditional meaning of the marriage ceremony is lost. Alternate forms of marriage arise…
  3. Feminist movements abound….
  4. There is an increased public disrespect for parents, parenthood, and authority in general so that parenthood becomes harder for those who still try to rear children.
  5. There is an increase in juvenile delinquency, promiscuity, and rebellion.
  6. There is a refusal of people with traditional marriages to accept family responsibilities. 7. There is an increasing desire for—and acceptance of—adultery.
  7. There is a tolerance for—and spread of—sexual perversions of all kinds…

Whether it’s Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, 1947, 1983, or today, the breakdown of the family has incredible ramifications for society at large. As G. K. Chesterton observed, “As the family goes, so goes society.”

Yet there are many who want to essentially destroy the family. I’m reminded of the classic 1848 book, The Communist Manifesto, wherein Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels promote “the abolition of the family.” The Marxists have succeeded remarkably in contributing to family breakdown. Dr. Paul Kengor documents all this in his book, Takedown.

Two years ago, a Google executive got negative pushback from his own company when he spoke highly of the family. He had to apologize and grovel, speaking of alternative “family” structures.

But I would take the Word of God Almighty, our Creator, any day over the word of some Silicon Valley executives or Marxist professors. One day some religious leaders asked Jesus if God allowed divorce “for any and every reason” (NIV). “Any and every reason”? That sounds like today’s no-fault divorce.

Jesus answered them by going back to creation itself: “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate’” (ESV).

I remember hearing of a divorce attorney who quipped as he was about to return to work from lunch, “Well, I’ve got to get back to ‘putting asunder what God hath joined together.’”

But I will note that how you get married—that is preparing well for marriage, not just the wedding—is exceedingly important. My wife (of 39 years now, by the grace of God) and I decided that before we got married, we would freely use the D-word, divorce; however, after we got married, we wouldn’t even joke about it. We have stayed with that commitment.

Bible teacher M. R. Dehaan said, “The nearest thing to heaven on this earth is the Christian family and the home where husband and wife and parents and children live in love and peace together for the Lord and for each other.” And the nearest thing to hell is the opposite.

Biden Spells Extremism L-G-B-T

They may only be four percent of our country — but the LGBT community is getting 100 percent of the Left’s attention. Over the weekend, 10 of the Democrats vying for President Trump’s job tried to persuade Americans that the most pressing issue facing our country is the pursuit of taxpayer-funded gender surgery. If pandering were an Olympic sport, Joe Biden could have medaled. Instead, he settled — like they all did — for new records in extremism.

GLAAD CEO Sarah Ellis would have you believe that “LGBTQ issues have been… left out of the 2020 presidential primary conversation.” That’s interesting, since most Americans probably feel like it’s all the Democrats ever talk about. From Biden calling the Equality Act his “number one priority” to Julian Castro saying even transgender “women” need abortion, sexual politics have dominated this political cycle in a way most people can’t believe. Surely there are more pressing issues facing our nation than putting a Drag Queen Story Hour in every library — but you wouldn’t know it by the talking points of the Democratic field.

Most of Saturday’s event was spent fighting for the most radical social space in U.S. history — led by “moderate” Joe Biden, whose best argument for president is that he’ll turn our prisons into a gender-neutral free-for-all. “In prison,” he argued, “the determination should be that your sexual identity is defined by what you say it is [and] not what the prison says it is.” That, ironically, was tame compared to his other kooky suggestions. The former vice president’s platform for America also includes outlawing talk therapy, forcing religious hospitals to perform gender mutilations, and putting taxpayers on the hook for transgender plastic surgery.

The soundbites were almost impossible to believe. “We should outlaw, nationally, conversion therapy,” Biden argued. “There should be a law against it, period.” Followed by: “Obamacare… does cover [gender reassignment] surgery…Trump by executive order struck all of that out of the Affordable Care Act. I would reinstate it all. Every LGBT person… should be able to have full health care without limits.” Then, as if that weren’t enough, the former second-in-command went on to say that the government should punish hospitals who don’t want to perform transgender surgery. “It is simply against the law when I’m president.”

Of course, this grab bag of LGBT radicalism is all designed for one thing: winning the nomination. There’s just one problem — the same that one Hillary Clinton ran into three years ago: You can’t win the White House with the same extremism that charms the core of today’s Democratic party. For now, these promises may open up the Left’s wallet, but they never pay off come Election Day.

And it’s no wonder. Even sympathetic voters would agree that there are far bigger issues facing America than gender-neutral pronouns. With all of the tension on the world stage, with immigration reaching its boiling point, and people looking to Washington to keep the economic boom going, the front-runner of the Democratic party says putting men in girls’ bathrooms is the most important thing of all? And yet, the DNC is so tone deaf that its candidates aren’t participating in one — but two — LGBT forums this fall.

Interestingly, if you ask Americans what their biggest concerns are heading into next year’s election, the LGBT agenda doesn’t even make the list! In April, when Fox News ran the numbers, immigration (21 percent) and the economy (10 percent) were the only two that even had double-digit mentions. Gallup’s team got the same response in the lead-up to the midterms. When they asked voters, Biden’s number-one priority wasn’t even on the map. Even climate change, which is usually dead last on Americans’ minds, had more fans.

Brad Polumbo, one of the people who suffered through this three-hour spectacle, probably felt like a lot of viewers when he wrote, “I expected the debate would be full of left-wing virtue signaling and pandering. But I never quite expected this many Democratic candidates to say openly crazy things — and be proud of it.”

Welcome to 2020.

The Humanitarian Hoax of Disinformation: Killing America With Kindness

The Humanitarian Hoax is a deliberate and deceitful tactic of presenting a destructive policy as altruistic. The humanitarian huckster presents himself as a compassionate advocate when in fact he is the disguised enemy.

A friend of mine from high school, a well-intentioned and impassioned gallerist in Washington, D.C., sent out the following evite superimposed on an original oil painting depicting a pack of menacing rabid dogs:

We’re inviting America’s artist to help prevent the spread of Trump’s dystopia and the contagious HATE it causes…and needs to survive.

The invitation to participate in the juried show was followed by a red/white/blue poster asking the following question:

When your grandchildren ask you what you did to rid the body politic of Trump’s dystopia in 2019 and 2020 before it was too late What will you tell them?

I like and respect this very kind, intelligent, and considerate man even though our world views are diametrically opposed to one another. I simply could not ignore the radical leftist political assumption of his question. So, I answered my friend:

I will tell them I write to fight.

I will tell them that I fought with every word on every page to insure an informed electorate in 2020.

I will tell them that they and their parents were subjected to a most vile disinformation campaign that began with Jimmy Carter and the establishment of the Department of Education in 1979 run by leftist radicals intent on collapsing America and replacing our free market capitalism with socialism.

I will tell them that the regressive pressure to ignore facts and focus on feelings is a deliberate effort to infantilize the nation and indoctrinate its children to accept collectivism and cradle-to-grave dependence on the government. A dependent society, unaware and compliant in Hillary’s own words, is easy to control.

I will tell them that indoctrination is revolution without bullets because disinformed children grow up and vote for collectivism. The leftist propaganda machine has been stunningly successful – just look at the Democrat candidates and how their anti-America platform has bifurcated the country.

I will tell them that the 2009 Climategate scandal exposing the fraudulent science of manmade climate change was deliberately buried by the colluding mainstream media under Obama’s watch.

I will tell them that the same fraudulent science continues to disinform the public with politically useful manmade climate change hysteria in advance of the 2020 election.

I will tell them that manmade climate change is the big lie of the 21st century designed to redistribute wealth and collapse America’s industrial economy in a sinister effort to bring the United States into the new world order of one world government.

I will tell them that many intelligent, well-intentioned, good-hearted liberals were duped into participating in their own destruction.

I will tell them I fought the good fight for their freedom because free stuff is NEVER free – you pay with your freedom.

I will tell them the dystopia is and always was the globalist will to power and a regressive return to feudalism.

I will tell them that President Donald J. Trump was the existential enemy of globalism and that the leftist Democrat party were the useful idiots of the globalist elite.

I will tell them that the United Nations was the vehicle for imposing one world government and that America’s children were deliberately indoctrinated with the the globalized education of Common Core in public school and dummied down to accept its anti-American content.

I will tell them that failed educational policies of sight words and new math deliberately confused and frustrated them to the point of academic failure and negative behavior.

I will tell them that I tried to save our beloved country from the jackals at the door who fully intend to enslave them after ceding our national sovereignty to an international body politic.

I will tell them that no stranger ever seduced a child with spinach, and that the leftist Democrat offer of eternal childhood and free stuff is the candied invitation to get them inside the car.

I will tell them I love them and that freedom is the most important value. I will tell them that there is no freedom in the centralized governments of collectivism. No American has ever risked his life on a raft to get to Cuba – the escapes always sail toward Miami and freedom.

I will tell them to listen to the dissidents who have lived the collectivist lives they are being promised, and to ignore the lies of the mainstream media’s paid political pundits who are lackeys to their globalist bosses.

I will tell them I love them and hope that they listened.

Trump Could Make History With A Religious Bill Of Rights For The Americas

President Trump has the chance to make history in one of the most memorable ways today and tomorrow at, of all places, the United Nations by making the case for religious freedom worldwide, but specifically for calling for a Western Hemisphere Religious Bill of Rights.

The President is sponsoring an event today (Monday morning) at the UN Headquarters in New York entitled a Global Call To Protect Religious Freedom. The goal is to highlight increasing religious persecution around the world and claim the high moral ground for all civilized countries to commit to liberty for all religious adherents. This is something that has not been done by previous U.S. presidents and in breaking this mold, he is doing a marvelous thing.

The religious liberty event is at the same time as another in the endless line of politicized climate change panels that are unceasing. The media will hyperventilate and bring out children to teach us all about having only 18 months before some climate changes are irreversible. But it will all be meaningless gibberish because there is zero consensus on action, because, in truth, the evidence of both severity and cause are just not strong enough.

Not so with religious liberty. The evidence is overwhelming. Here are some stats from the 2019 Open Doors USA report, which tracks Christian persecution — the most persecuted religion in the world.

In the top 50 World Watch List of countries persecuting Christians the most, nearly a quarter billion Christians experience high levels of persecution for their faith; 1 in 9 Christians worldwide experience high levels of persecution; 14% more Christians experience high levels of persecution than did in 2018; 4,136 Christians were killed for being Christians; 1,266 churches or Christian buildings were attacked; In 7 out of the top 9 countries in the World Watch List, the primary cause of persecution is Islamic oppression (the other is North Korea); 11 countries now score as “extreme” for their level of persecution of Christians, compared to only North Korea five years ago.

This is a true crisis. The world’s Jewish population is experiencing it also.

According to the World Jewish Congress:

“…the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA)’s December 2018 second comprehensive report on discrimination and hate crimes against Jews in the EU, found that an overwhelming majority… — 89 percent — feel that antisemitism is getting worse…The 2018 report also found that 79% of those who experienced antisemitic harassment in the five years prior to the survey did not report the most serious incident to police, indicating an even darker reality than the official national crime numbers. More than one-third of all respondents said they had considered emigrating in the five years preceding the survey because they did not feel safe as Jews in the country where they live.”

The United States has a long history of being the global leader in freedoms in general, but specifically in religious freedom — critical, as that has been the lever of most of the world’s atrocities. America is a known refuge for the religiously persecuted and sought to export the concept for many years. But we abdicated that role to the deification of “multiculturalism” where the left paralyzed American leaders’ ability to say our way was better.

Yet our way of religious freedom for all, enshrined in the 1st Amendment, is undeniably superior to any that do not have such protections. People like former President Obama and today’s Democrats are largely incapable of saying even that.

But Trump is fearless on such matters and will thumb his nose at the self-appointed elites in the U.S. and Europe for whom religion is just a pile of myths leveraged to violently oppress. Living in the 13th century apparently, they see white Christians as the primary religious threat.

Here’s where the political incorrectness must come out, and it is backed by daily news accounts and Open Doors USA’ data: The giant source of religious intolerance and persecution today comes from Muslim dominated countries. In the past 50 years, Christians have been eliminated via forced conversion, displacement and massacre in large swaths of the Middle East. The region is becoming almost 100 percent Muslim, when it was the birthplace of Christianity. This is true in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya and elsewhere.

And it is the rub at the United Nations, because part of the worthlessness of that body is that almost every scoundrel nation out there is a member. There are 47 Muslim majority countries that are part of the U.N., including those who are the worst persecutors of Christians. They are not all scoundrels, but that weight, along with Europe’s growing return to anti-Semitism, is one of many reasons for the rank anti-Semitism evident in the endless denouncements of Israel, but never of Palestinian terrorists.

Not only do none of those countries have a 1st Amendment, they do not even acknowledge such a concept as good. A resolution would have a hard time at the U.N. But that doesn’t matter because it would be as meaningless as most resolutions at the U.N. Those only have value when powerful and influential countries sign on and agree to enforce them — such as economic sanctions against places like North Korea and Iran.

But by laying the foundation for religious freedom, Trump can not only claim the high moral ground, but can also begin an entirely new effort that encompasses the Western Hemisphere — North and South America. This would be a sort of Western Hemisphere Bill of Religious Rights. Countries that sign on, enact and enforce religious freedom laws could get more favorable relationships with the rest of the Hemisphere, most notably the United States.

This is actually doable in this Hemisphere because there is not much religious persecution at this moment in North or South America, and most of the nations are Catholic, Protestant or maybe secular in the case of Canada. The persecution that does exist, is not by adherents of a different religion, but by militant political leftists operating in countries without a 1st Amendment (again, see Canada.)

Let leftists, including those in the United States, oppose a Bill of Religious Freedoms, a majority of which will encompass “brown” people.

This may be more than Trump is going for this week. According to the White House statement:

“The President is working to broaden international support for ongoing efforts to protect religious freedom in the wake of increasing persecution of people on the basis of their beliefs and a growing number of attacks on and destruction of houses of worship by state and non-state actors.  The President will call on the international community to take concrete steps to prevent attacks against people on the basis of their religion or beliefs and to ensure the sanctity of houses of worship and all public spaces for all faiths.”

Religious intolerance always ends in terrible places. Using the United States as a model, President Trump could try something totally unique in world history.

Democrats’ and Medias’ Evil Mission to Divide Americans

Watching this year’s 9-11 remembrances on TV, it was heartwarming to hear commentators repeatedly use “we” and “our” when referring to Americans and America. Commentators said on September 11, 2001, “our” country was viciously attacked by Islamist terrorists. They said, “we” came together as a nation. A WWII vet said the unity of our nation on 9-11 felt the same to him as it did during WWII.

Rather than unifying Americans, each 2020 Democrat presidential candidate is campaigning on dividing us into bogus victimized voting blocs. They seek to convince every American that they are a victim in one way or another; a victim of racism, sexism, white privilege, environmental racism, income inequality and so on. The tag team of Democrats and fake news media are promoting the insane lie that the earth will be uninhabitable in 12 years unless we elect a Democrat president.

Delusional Democrats and fake news media actually believe they can win the White House by dividing Americans, encouraging blacks to hate whites, women to hate men and homosexuals to hate heterosexuals.

Democrats believe it is immoral to refer to America as “our” country. We have allowed old hippies to teach our children the lie that America ravaged the world for our prosperity. Therefore, it is only fair that we abandon borders, sharing our ill-gotten wealth with the world. Democrats also believe allowing needy unskilled people to freely invade our country will increase Democrat voter registration.

My wife Mary and I moved to a tiny town in West Virginia, population 500, which we have affectionately nicknamed, “Trump Country USA”.

In honor of 9-11, Main St in our town was decorated with American flags. The marque of the small public library read, “Never Forget 9-11”. Students were encouraged to come to school attired in red, white, blue and American flags. Students were taught history lessons about patriotism. This is the polar opposite of California schools banning American flag attire on Mexican holidays because it is offensive to illegal alien students. Democrats and fake news media say displays of patriotism are insensitive, racist and hateful. Shockingly, the U.S. flag was not seen on stage during the televised ABC Democrat presidential debate. Democrat controlled schools divide Americans by teaching black students to resent white students, absurdly claiming whites are “born racist”. Students are taught to hate their country.

In their ongoing evil mission to demonize America and divide Americans, Democrats and fake news media say the election of president Trump proves that widespread racism is alive and well, particularly in rural America. As I stated, Mary and I live in a tiny town. We are a black/white interracial couple, married over 40 years.

Because our home internet is not working, we took our laptops to the local country store to use their internet. The store was filled with white hunters and country boys. Thirty years ago, I might have felt uncomfortable. Neither Mary nor I felt an ounce of racial tension at our country store.

Clearly, America has come a long way baby in regards to race relations. Americans elected Obama two times to prove our nation has moved beyond widespread racism. And yet, Democrats and fake news media persist in selling their insidious lie that everyone who voted for Trump and supports his make America great again agenda are white supremacists. Because I am a black outspoken supporter of Trump and his America First agenda, Democrats and fake news media brand me a self-loathing Uncle Tom. See how these evil people seek to divide us folks?

I wore my “Trump 2020” cap to a local church flea market. I saw a white guy wearing a “Trump 2020” cap. I said, “Sir, you must be a racist white supremacist?” Seeing my cap, he burst into laughter as we spontaneously embraced in a bear hug.

Americans crave to be unified. Before singing my “American Tea Party Anthem” at a tea party rally in 2008, I told the audience, “I am not an African-American!” I am Lloyd Marcus, American!!!” The audience of 6,000 erupted in thunderous applause. After the rally, several audience members thanked me with tears in their eyes.

I thought I had made great headway in convincing my black relatives that Democrats and fake news media are lying about America’s police routinely murdering blacks. I was taken aback when a relative who I assumed knew better, helped to spread an initiative on Facebook to stop “trigger happy cops” from murdering young black men.

Stats confirm that cops are the greatest defenders of black lives. The greatest threats to black lives are black men and Planned Parenthood. Racist Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood to exterminate Negros. Planned Parenthood disproportionately aborts blacks with 70% of their dead-baby-body-parts-chop-shops located in black neighborhoods.

My deceived relative confirms that we must remain diligent in our efforts to educate misinformed Americans.

Folks, I could go on and on with examples of Democrats’ and fake news medias’ evil mission to keep Americans divided, in fear and at war with each other.

Instead, I wish to leave you with an inspiring act of random unifying patriotism. In Denver, a flash mob performed “God Bless America” with brass instruments. Please enjoy.

ISRAEL: A strange thing happened on the way to the polling booth

Arguably, Netanyahu’s gravest strategic miscalculation was not to call elections in May 2016 rather than capitulate to Liberman’s demand to be given the Defense portfolio.

Syria is not lost. Assad is Western educated and is not a religious man. He can still join a moderate grouping – Former IDF Chief of Staff , Gabi Ashkenazi, Haaretz, November 13, 2009, today fourth on the Blue & White Knesset list.

The greatest tragedy of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is that everyone knows how it will end. We will divide up the region. Israel will return most of the West Bank, and the Palestinian flag will fly on public buildings in east Jerusalem…The only unanswered question is how many more people will have to die along the way. And so we will fight against the extremists on both sides, including our extremists, the settlers – Yair Lapid, Der Spiegel, May 8, 2008, today number two on the Blue & White Knesset list.

The disengagement was …a legal action… approved by the government of Israel and carried out by the IDF…with great pain but done very well. We have to take its lessons and implement them in other places.Former IDF Chief of Staff, Benny Gantz, Ynet, February, 6, 2019, today number one on the Blue & White Knesset list.

Earlier this month, I wrote a column with the interrogative title: Sept. 17: Will the Right snatch defeat from the jaws of victory…again?

Judging from the emerging election results, it certainly seems as if it has…

(As I pointed out in my earlier article–and for the unfortunate readers who may have missed it—in the Israeli political context, the Left-Right rift is not along the usual welfare state vs free market divide in the socio-economic sphere; but more along the Dove-Hawk split on security and foreign policy, particularly with regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—with the former advocating Palestinian statehood and far-reaching territorial concessions by Israel, and the latter opposing them.)

Detriments of democracy?

True, at the time of writing, the official results are not yet in, but it is highly unlikely that there will be a sea-change in what we already know: Neither of the main protagonists, the Likud (ostensibly representing the electorate “right” of center), and Blue & White (ostensibly representing the electorate “left” of center) can form a majority coalition to govern the country—and certainly not a durable and stable one.

Almost incredibly, the prospect of yet another—a third—election in the space of a year cannot be discounted as totally inconceivable—portraying Israel in an extremely unfavorable light in terms of its governability and political maturity.

Thus, although things are still in a state of great flux, it is difficult to see any positive outcome emerging from the current electoral impasse. Even if some coalition could be cobbled together, embracing factions and individuals of wildly differing—indeed even opposing—political credos, it is unlikely to endure for long.

In many ways, it is Israel’s fractured electorate that has itself to blame for the mess in which it finds itself. After all, for all its manifest advantages over other forms of governance, perhaps the greatest drawback of democracy is that the demos can never complain that the dictator is responsible for its plight.

In this regard, the Israeli electorate has proved itself to be distinctly dysfunctional in that it has not been able, after almost six months of collective contemplation, to elect anything approaching a stable governing coalition.

The demos: Not entirely to blame

However, it is probably unfair to lay all the blame on the partly—indeed poorly—informed man-in-the-street and his female counterpart.

For they have been badly served by their elected representatives and by the central institutions that underpin Israeli society.

Indeed, as I pointed out in my earlier column, not only have the elected representatives of  the right-wing —despite being in power for the better part of two decades—proved unable to consign the failed credo of their Left-wing rivals to well-deserved oblivion; they have been unable to produce a convincing counter-credo that would sweep along dominant sectors of the voting public, long disillusioned by the misleading mirage of promise and hope, dangled before it by purveyors of a “New Middle East”.

But they have also been ill served by those seeking to replace the right at the helm of government. For while there may be a valid case for their claim that, after over a decade of Netanyahu incumbency, there should be a change of leadership, the manner in which they have gone about trying to effect it, has been both inappropriate—and hitherto—ineffective.

Thus, at the polls, they endeavored to unseat him with what is essentially a contrived “pseudo-opposition party”, an amorphous political hotchpotch, embracing members of radically opposing view-points whose only unifying feature appears to be a severe case of “Bibiphobia”—and with an unproven leadership, whose judgement has proved highly questionable in the past.

The second prong of the assault to replace Netanyahu was via the legal system, and a series of alleged charges that, to anyone but a rabid “Bibiphobe”, appear transparently contrived, creating a deep sense of unease that Israel’s legal establishment is being exploited for patent political ends.

Over 50% of the Jewish vote

Clearly, Netanyahu had formidable odds ranged against him: An amalgam of three parties (Gantz’s “Israeli Resilience”, Lapid’s “Yesh Atid”, Moshe Yaalon’s “Telem”) that make up “Blue & White”; four former IDF Chiefs-of-Staff (Gantz, Yaalon and Ashkenazi—and Ehud Barak in the Left-wing Democratic Front”), much of a vitriolic anti-Bibi mainstream media and the shadow of prosecution hovering over his head.

Yet despite this, Netanyahu and the parties endorsing his continued premiership still managed to win a majority of the Jewish vote (55 mandates out of 107—with the remaining thirteen won by the anti-Zionist Arab Joint List).

By contrast, Gantz’s Blue & White, together with other Left-of-Center parties (excluding the Arab Joint List) won barely 40% of the Jewish vote—and just over one third of the overall ballot.

For Netanyahu, this is no mean feat, and testifies to his enduring public stature and the widespread recognition of the impressive accomplishments he attained during his tenure—economically, diplomatically and, even to a large degree, in the field of security—where apart from what appears excessive restraint in the South, his record is far better than any of his recent predecessors.

Netanyahu’s greatest strategic error?

Even though I am not remotely an uncritical Netanyahu apologist—having even called for his resignation in the past –it is difficult to ignore that he managed to hold out against the hostile Obama regime, engaged the current US administration in a remarkable manner that has brought about the annulling of the atrocious Iran nuclear deal, recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the country and establishment of the American embassy there, and US recognition of Israeli sovereignty of the Golan. In addition, he has also managed to forge a close bond with Russia, India and formerly hostile Brazil, while overseeing an almost 60% increase in the country’s GDP per capita.

Given the fact the Netanyahu was elected to be Prime Minister, not Pope, none of his untried prospective successors appear to have anything approaching his proven ability for the post of which they seek to deprive him.

Of course, one of Netanyahu’s gravest strategic miscalculations –arguably his gravest–was not to call elections in May 2016, rather than capitulate to Liberman’s demand to be given the Defense portfolio. Readers will recall that following the 2015 elections, Liberman refused to join the ruling “right-wing” coalition”, after Netanyahu’s somewhat unexpectedly strong showing against the now forgotten duo of Herzog and Livni. Had he done so then—before Liberman  embraced his current anti-Haradi posturing, he not only could have laid the blame squarely on Yisrael Beteinu for “toppling a right wing government”—which would then, in all likelihood, not have passed the minimum threshold for Knesset membership. Moreover, he would have avoided the resultant friction with then-defense minister Yaalon, who probablyw ould not have resigned, and he would have nipped the then still-nascent Gantz-led opposition mergers in the bud—well before they could gather their current momentum.

Parade of perverse paradoxes?

But setting aside Netanyahu’s error in judgement in his timing for calling elections, it is difficult to disregard that the September 17th elections were preceded by a parade of perverse and perturbing paradoxes.

The first is that the Arab Joint List, an unabashedly anti-Zionist party, composed of wildly diverse elements (from left wing Communists to Islamic fundamentalists), whose only commonality is their rejection of Israel as a Jewish state—much like Blue & White is composed of wildly diverse elements whose only commonality is the rejection of Netanyahu, came out of the election with 13 mandates, making it the third largest party in the Knesset.

Three things are worthy of note here.

First, since according to the Basic Law: Knesset, the rejection of Israel as a Jewish state is grounds for barring candidacy for the Knesset, the anti-Zionist platform of the Joint List should—by letter of the law—be reason to preclude its running for the Knesset.

Second; the size of the Joint List is a direct result of an initiative by none other than Liberman to raise (from 2%-3.25%) the threshold for eligibility to the Knesset originally intended to block the election of the previously small Arab factions—which now seems to have backfired…(or not???)

Thirdly, without the anti-Zionist Joint List, Blue & White would have no chance of seriously challenging Netanyahu for the premiership. All this at the by the hand of the ostensibly anti-Arab Liberman????  The law of unintended consequences??? Or not???

Puzzling and perturbing (cont.)

Another puzzling and perturbing occurrence was the manifest reluctance and tardiness of the Central Election Committee to investigate allegations of gross irregularities in numerous polling stations, which according to some reports, may have affected the outcome of the April elections and the possible elimination of one of the Arab factions elected (as the Joint List did not run in April).

Perhaps one of the most incomprehensible aspects of the last election is that the party most responsible for creating the mess in which we find ourselves was the very party that appears to be most rewarded by voters—Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beitenu.

This seems even more puzzling since the repeat elections were precipitated by Liberman reneging on his April pre-election commitments (or at least, what many perceived as such) to cooperate in establishing a “Right-wing” government—which appears to indicate that for the new Liberman acolytes –anti Haredi opprobrium trumps political integrity.

It is important to note that Liberman, whose personal history is strewn with wheeling and dealing with Haredim, was not compelled by irresistible political constraints to take the uncompromising stance he took in the wake of the April poll. Indeed, it was not even central to his election campaign and was never presented up until the last minute of the coalition negotiations. It was little more than cynical political opportunism, tinged with personal vindictiveness against Netanyahu. The price to be paid by all Israelis may soon be upon us.

Much at stake…

There is much at stake in the outcome of the Sept. 17 elections. Topping the list is the ability to continue to reap the fruits of the clement Trump administration and proceed with extending sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and parts (hopefully all) of Judea-Samaria. With a Gantz-led center Left government, the chances that the opportunities that might have presented themselves will be seized, are considerably lower.

So while history may judge Liberman’s shenanigans harshly, the Israeli public should bear in mind: In a democracy the demos has no dictator to blame for what befalls it.

How The Left Could Erase Republicans In The 2020 Election

The Orwellian dystopia found in 1984 is our future if the trendline continues. And a startling pathway to that future is beginning to congeal before us.

George Orwell presciently wrote “The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.” This was accomplished in the novel through a device called the Memory Hole.

Protagonist Winston Smith’s job, along with innumerable other workers, was to search the news archives for any stories, phrases or even people who did not line up with the current official worldview and history as dictated by Big Brother. If he found an instance, he dropped it down a literal Memory Hole and it was erased from ever having happened. People’s entire lives disappeared, completely erased as though they never happened. Wars and movements and ideologies never happened and were replaced by a newly re-written history that aligned with Big Brother.

The internal operations of the Memory Hole were never described by Orwell. That was not important, it simply functioned as a metaphor for what Communism was doing around the world in 1948.

But today we are seeing how such a Memory Hole could practically function. No metaphors. Simple reality. And it could happen faster than we think. And like Communism, it comes entirely from the left.

It is the unholy union of the leftwing mainstream media, the leftwing social media giants, leftwing Google and leftwing website and platform hosts. These are virtually all of the avenues for information outside of old-school radio and TV. Talk radio is already dominated by conservatives, but it also does not reach many people in the middle. Ditto for Fox News.

For elections, communicating to voters in the middle, those who swing elections, is critical. Talk radio and Fox News largely do not do that. There is a conservative media such as the Daily Caller, Daily Wire, Newsmax and so on. But they are in the same category of reaching and informing conservatives, who by definition are not swing voters. This dynamic holds for openly progressive media, such as the Huffington Post, Slate, Buzzfeed, Salon, etc.

Let’s walk through how the Memory Hole is beginning to come together. We’ll start with the mainstream media.

The legacy media of newspapers and network television and CNN has long been dominated by leftwing reporters, editors and producers. It has become more obvious over recent decades, increasing sharply in the non-coverage of Obama-era scandals and now being completely unmasked in the age of Trump. So that is in place now.

Google has been outed repeatedly, most recently by Veritas, which interviewed whistleblowers at Google who leaked documents showing that Google is intent on not letting another Trump or Trump-type election ever happen again. They’ve been placing their thumbs on the scales for awhile, but this is a new level and it is now not just fellow travelers at the same company, it is coordinated from the top. That means it will be quite effective.

The result already is that searches for things that were readily available even a year ago, are almost impossible to find now. News stories from “trusted sources” get top play. And of course Google trusts only the mainstream and even outwardly leftists sources. I am reminded of this daily. I googled Tropical Storm Humberto and weather.com just today. Weather.com is a top 300 website. Yet the first two hits were for CNN and then NBC before getting to weather.com — even when I included the specific URL.

In this way, Google employees have become a little army of coding Winston Smiths to develop their part of the Memory Hole.

The social media giants of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube (owned by Google), Instagram, Pinterest and even the giant aggregator Reddit are run and dominated by leftwing executives and operatives. This is a crucial component, because social media was one of the few places where right, left and center could see everything if they wanted to. Everyone could post and link and be as political or nonpolitical as they desired. Since it was a social and familial gathering place, it allowed for the possibilities of seeing a real variety of views, even crazy ones. I described it as the Wild West and considered it a great step forward.

But alas, as the modern left has an instinct for censorship and shutting down discussion, debate and alternative views, so the social media giants are doing all those. From shadow-banning and demonetizing to de-platforming and outright banning, they are all creating what they call “community standards” that is simply leftwing ideology. So by definition, things that are overtly conservative are regularly running into the censor.

It’s not just whackadoodles like Alex Jones. It ranges from conservative comedians like Steven Crowder, who was actually trying to follow all of YouTube’s rules, to the mainstream pro-life outfit Live Action. But when the conservatively doctrinaire PragerU has large numbers of their videos hidden, you know the digital noose is tightening.

And finally, there are the website hosts and platforms such as Godaddy, WordPress, Weebly and so on that are also run by leftists. They have the ability to simply shut down original websites if they deem those have violated their standards. So far, it has only been done with the most egregious sites, such as the white nationalist, Holocaust-denying,  neo-Nazi website Stormfront.

But the line has been crossed.

When you combine the mainstream media, Google, the social media sites, and the website hosts as all leftists, anti-Republican and virulently anti-Trump, they could act in concert — without ever holding a meeting — to scrub the conservative or pro-Trump message from most of the Web — and all the places where swing voters might be exposed.

This includes both organic reach of conservatives and promoted reach. Facebook, YouTube and Twitter can decide that Republican or Pro-Trump ads are violating their community standards and refuse them. This, too, has already happened. This would mean that the GOP would have virtually no pathway for reaching swing voters other than expensive and much less effective direct mail.

Played in unison, these elements substantially become a Memory Hole.

Women’s March Replaces Anti-Semites with Another Anti-Semite

My latest at PJ Media:

It seemed like a positive development, which is rare enough coming from the Left. As Rick Moran noted at PJ Media Tuesday, “the Women’s March has forced the resignations of three founding board members who found themselves in trouble for explicit anti-Semitic statements. National co-chairs Bob Bland, Tamika Mallory, and Linda Sarsour stepped down, making room for 16 new board members, including three Jewish women, in order to repair relations with activists groups that couldn’t stomach the virulent anti-Semitism of Sarsour and the others.” But don’t break out the hats and hooters just yet: one of the new board members is another venomous anti-Semite, Zahra Billoo of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

According to IPT News, Billoo “matches – perhaps even surpasses – outgoing board member Linda Sarsour’s hatred for Israel and those who support it. Billoo at least is candid enough to admit she doesn’t think the Jewish state should exist (she has not mentioned other countries she wishes would disappear).” Nor has she mentioned the new genocide of the Jews that would inevitably accompany the destruction of the State of Israel. And there’s more: “She repeatedly has compared Israeli soldiers to ISIS terrorists. Being pro-Israel, she has written, is tantamount to being ‘pro-terror, pro-violence, pro-land theft, and pro-apartheid.’”

The IPT correctly notes that “criticizing Israeli leaders, or government policies, is not anti-Semitic. But rejecting even the idea of the state’s existence, is. It’s a view shared by the United States, Canada, the United KingdomFrance and at least 25 other nations.”

Amid numerous appalling statements Billoo has made is one in which she said: “I don’t think we can work on civil rights together in the US” if someone supports Israel, because the Israelis, she said, are “baby killers.” Nor has Billoo restricted her victimhood posturing and hatred to Israel; the Jewish state’s chief ally, the United States, has been her target as well. She has accused the FBI of recruiting for the jihad terror group the Islamic State (ISIS): “I’m more afraid of racist Zionists who support Apartheid Israel than of the mentally ill young people the FBI recruits to join ISIS.”

What’s more, despite the fact that the board members that the Women’s March dismissed came under fire for refusing to condemn the racist anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, Billoo also holds the Nation of Islam leader in high esteem. IPT News reports that “she featured a Nation of Islam video on her blog in 2010. Seven months earlier, she felt compelled to share with her Twitter followers that she was “watching Farrakhan church speech, while at the gym.’”

There is much more. Read the rest here.

OPEN LETTER: Bite me, Beto

Earlier this week in Atlanta, three minority males in their mid-teens were shot dead while attempting a violent armed robbers of a homeowner. This type of incident is why I bought AR-15s for my sons five years ago.

Below is what I emailed to a Democrat friend who thinks no one has any business owning a gun with more firepower than a 5-shot revolver.

Dear Susan –

I think it’s fitting that I give this email a title.

If it’s okay, I’ll call it Bite me, Beto.

Picture this. You’re at home in the yard with two other people, possibly your husband and one of your grandchildren.

Suddenly, three masked intruders—one firing shots—appear out of the dark in a nighttime robbery attempt.

What would you do to protect yourself and your loved ones?

According to multiple news reports, the scenario described above happened in an Atlanta suburb two days ago.

The homeowner and the two people with him, presumably family members, were not hurt.

The three teen lawbreakers were shot dead by the homeowner.

They were taken out by what is believed to be a semi-automatic rifle, far and away the best defense against multiple home invaders, according to no less an authority than Navy SEAL veteran Dom Raso – WATCH

Without adequate weaponry, the homeowner and the two people with him might be the ones whose funerals are now being arranged.

Bottom line: That homeowner was prepared to defend himself, and did, a moral responsibility every homeowner has, especially those who have family living with them.

Does the Hong Kong Protest Have a Prayer?

Protests in Hong Kong have been going on for months. Is there a Christian element to these protests that has been widely overlooked?

Hong Kong has a population of over 7 million people. Yet it has been estimated that, at one point in recent weeks, as many as a million protesters hit the streets.

Hong Kong has officially been a part of China since 1997, when it was handed back over after being a British colony and territory for more than a century.

They cherish their independence. CNN notes, “Many Hong Kong residents don’t see themselves as Chinese, but rather as Hong Kongers.”

That city enjoys a level of democratic freedom not experienced in mainland China, through “the Hong Kong Basic Law,” which CNN calls Hong Kong’s “defacto constitution…It guarantees freedoms that are unavailable to Chinese mainlanders, such as the right to protest, the right to a free press and freedom of speech.”

The recent protests began in reaction to an extradition bill that would have sent alleged criminals from Hong Kong to China for prosecution. If China lived by Romans 13, using the power of the state to punish evil-doers, perhaps there would be no such protests. The problem is who China defines as evil-doers.

Included in Communist China’s list of alleged evil-doers are religious leaders. Particularly under Chairman Xi, the head of China, the country has been cracking down hard on Christians and people of different faiths. Thus, this extradition law, had it gone into effect, could have allowed for the widespread persecution of Christians in Hong Kong, a city which has many churches and believers.

Last year, for Christian television, I spoke with Wendy Wright, the president of Christian Freedom International. I asked her, “What’s it like to be a Christian in contemporary China?”

She told our viewers, “In China there have been reports for a number of years that Christianity is flourishing and growing and expanding, that there are an untold number of people who are becoming Christians in China. What we’re also seeing is a recent crackdown on Christians and on churches—crosses being destroyed off of churches, so people can’t tell this is a church. Churches are being destroyed, being bulldozed, Bibles online are being censored…. And so we see this silencing, this crushing of public displays of Christianity in China.”

Regarding the recent demonstrations, Wendy Wright told me: “The protests in Hong Kong have a Christian influence. Baptist pastor Chu Yiu-Ming gave an impassioned defense of his Christian faith at his sentencing in April–as the latest protests were beginning…The 75-year old told the court, ‘Political freedom is more than loyalty to the state. It professes human dignity.’”

Wright also said, “After reports of police brutality, Christians helped make a safe place for protesters. Religious meetings in Hong Kong do not require police approval. The song ‘Sing Hallelujah to the Lord’ became an anthem. It is easy to learn and has a peaceful, calming influence.” Hong Kong protestors can be seen and heard singing this American Christian chorus in this piece from CBN News put together by Dale Hurd.

Wright added, “Christians in Hong Kong know the dire threat that China poses. The Chinese regime is arresting Christian leaders, shutting down churches, forbidding the teaching of children about Jesus Christ, installing face-recognition cameras in churches to identify Christians. China will extend their reign of persecution if Hong Kong allows it.” [Emphasis added]

A widow from our church and her late husband have known a Christian leader from Hong Kong for decades. She told me that over the weekend she had sent him a text, saying that she was praying for him and for Hong Kong.

He wrote her back, “Thank you. We are in deep water. Deep pain, but hopeful.”

I have heard estimates that approximately one out of nine of the protesters in Hong Kong are Christians. And I’ve heard estimates that there are approximately 300 million believers in Jesus Christ in China today—despite decades of persecution.

In our book, What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?, D. James Kennedy and I write:

“The frightening thing about a humanist and atheistic state is that there is nothing beyond man to which one can make an appeal. The founders of this country said that men have been created equal and have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.”

Perhaps this is why some of the Hong Kong protesters are waving American flags.

In closing, Wendy Wright notes, “We need to be praying for our brothers and sisters in China [and Hong Kong] that their faith will flourish even under the persecution they’re facing.”

Weekend Revelations, Stories of the Holocaust and Eternal Hope

(These are my views as a woman living in England, on how the culture and spirit of my country has changed over 50 years.   Why the country does not feel protected or strong any more, how it has lost, and is losing it values and decency, and how we are daily losing our free speech.)

Friday 29th August, 2019

It is pretty amazing what can happen all in the space of 3 days. What had started with a simple trip one Friday afternoon to an air-show to help hand out some leaflets for some friends, had also turned into an unexpected lunch with a young German couple and their child, an evening listening to Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss, step-sister to Anne Frank, and a cosy evening curled up on my friend’s settee viewing a new film with a very strange title called ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society’.

You just couldn’t have made it all up. Yet the air show, the film and the meetings, although separated over the length of 3 days, were all so closely connected, telling the story of life, sacrifice, death and resurrection,  that I had to write it all down. For you see they had also carried another message…….

Saturday 30th August, 2019

As we wandered through the crowds that Saturday afternoon handing out leaflets, some of the spectators and air enthusiasts would have witnessed in the skies the Battle of Britain Memorial flights consisting of Spitfires, Hurricanes and Lancasters. There were warbirds including the Buchon, Spitfire, P-47D Thunderbolt and Mustang; and there was a P-8A Poseidon Surveillance aircraft, which has a wingspan of 40 metres, developed for the U.S. Navy.

Even some miles away you would have been able to hear the noise of their engines even if you couldn’t witness them.  Sometimes, and most especially in the evening, they had sounded like thunder in the distance warning people of an impending storm

Some of the planes were very reminiscent of a bygone era. However, on the ground that day there was a strange battle of another kind taking place which were definitely in conflict with the lessons we should learn from history.

A sea of demonstrators all representing many different groups appeared within the crowds.  We were faced with people waving blue and yellow star spangled EU flags, people waving rainbow coloured flags, placards were being carried calling for democracy, banners and posters were being displayed to ‘out’ the prime minister, Boris Johnson, and demonstrations against climate change, were all inter-mingled and all attempting to make their voices heard above the sounds of rock music from one area and 40’s swing music from another area.   It was all one crazy market place.

The peacefulness at my friend’s home was a very welcome relief as that evening we watched the strangely titled film “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society” which tells the true story of the Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands during the Second World War and reflects the resistance that some Guernsey residents displayed towards the Nazi’s. [LINK]

In 2010, it was also reported that testimonies from resistance fighters in Guernsey were discovered by a research team from the University of Cambridge indicating that many resistance fighters were deported by cattle trucks from the island to be imprisoned in Germany. Many, however, also died on the way, and it is reported from those testimonies that the other prisoners were forced to bury them. [LINK]

Sunday 31st August 2019

The next day as the sounds of the rumbling aircrafts once more filled the skies we left the crowds and joined some friends for lunch. A couple from Germany, with their young child were staying with my friends. They were aged just 21. They were Christian and had a very strong and humble faith. I was particularly struck by their responsibility to their young daughter and how the husband only spoke English to the child whilst the mother spoke German.  The young man explained to me how he had been tempted by friends on some occasions to ‘go with the crowd’ but had escaped the baggage of ‘unravelling sin’ by resisting that. He was very keen to know about events happening in the UK, about Brexit, about culture and immigration.  They were an exceptional couple who I will always remember. Later, I learned that their child had been born with a serious condition at birth.  They prayed for her recovery, and she is completely healed.

Their beginnings in family life, and indeed their future, came to mind as later that day I attended a presentation called A Historic Event with Eva Schloss, who is a holocaust survivor, peace activist, international speaker, teacher and humanitarian.  She is also the step-sister of Anne Frank who wrote the book “The Diary of Anne Frank” and is 90 years old.

Listening to her story of how she survived, the escape from her homeland in Austria, two years in hiding in Amsterdam, capture on her 15th birthday, nine months in Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps, and her repatriation to Holland was very interesting.

It was sad to listen to how she had lost her father and brother, and very difficult to listen to how the women and young children had been stripped naked in front of the soldiers whilst they decided who would go to the gas chambers.   Both Eva and her mother did survive and she stated they were eventually liberated by the Russian army.  She went on to be married, have children, and also grand-children.

Whilst listening, I thought about the plight of children who are separated from their parents, and also recalled the 80th anniversary of Harwich Kindertransport, where 10,000 children were evacuated from Germany after anti-Jewish violence known as Kristallnacht in 1938. Many of those children never saw their parents again. [LINK]

During the evening there was a musical tribute called Ani Ma’amin – I Believe.   The history of the music is that it was composed by Azriel David Fastage on his way to his death at Treblinka.  A single survivor who jumped from the train later bought the composition to the United States.  The song is meant to speak of Eternal Hope.

Eva Schloss stated she speaks about her experiences so that it does not happen again, that we remember the holocaust, and fight the rise of anti-Semitism. She was very honest in her answers saying she would not forgive the Nazi’s.  You can read about Eva here.

I came away with many questions and observations about the times we are currently living in.

Monday 1st September, 2019

It was a beautiful morning as I packed my case to return home.  The sun was shining and it was very peaceful.   No doubt, I would later meet the thousands of spectators who had been attending the air show who would also be returning to their respective homes. I looked at one of the leaflets which I had kept.It spoke of the great mysteries of the air; the first hot air balloon in France, where the cargo was a sheep, a duck and a chicken. It spoke of the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle, how a helicopter lands when its engines fail and the disappearance of flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.  The leaflet then linked to the mystery that the disciples of Jesus Christ faced right before their eyes, as they watched him ascend from the Mount of Olives, 2000 years ago.  Some people who had taken the leaflets felt misled that the mysteries that they were more interested in had led them to read about a greater mystery explained.

It had been interesting that my friend had been approached by a local council official who had attempted in a false manner to stop her handing out these leaflets whilst ignoring the demonstrations nearby who had made a religion out of their own particular cause. Eternal Hope, appeared to be an enemy.

I witnessed how the battle between good and evil is continuing taking place and how eugenics, euthanasia, and abortion, which are all trade marks of evil and are symbolic of ethnic cleansing are increasingly being promoted quite openly.  I thought about the indoctrination in our primary schools in relation to gender identity and how young children were being experimented upon with hormone blockers and how children were being given a so called freedom and encouraged to ‘choose’ their sexuality or have no identity at all.  ‘Nobodies’.   Yes, in my opinion, there is a holocaust taking place. Objectors will be silenced. [LINK]

Monday September 16th 2019

The events of the weekend I spent 2 weeks ago had become a bit of a distant memory until I read a timely article today and was reminded about two German Christians, Sophie and Hans Scholl, who were executed in Germany for resisting Hitler and the Nazi’s. At the time of their beheading Hans was 24 years old and Sophie was 21. They had belonged to a non-violent underground movement in Germany known as the White Rose resistance movement and as part of their activities had wrote and distributed leaflets exposing the brutality that was happening in Germany.

In 1943, after their death, millions of copies of the sixth leaflet called ‘The Manifesto of the Students of Munich’ which had been smuggled out of the country were airdropped over Germany by the Allied Forces.

I was particularly struck by a quotation attributed to Sophie Scholl which reads:

“The real damage is done by those millions who want to ‘survive.’ The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves – or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature. Those who live small, mate small, die small. It’s the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you’ll keep it under control. If you don’t make any noise, the bogeyman won’t find you. But it’s all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?! From what? Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does. I choose my own way to burn.”

“I will cling to the rope God has thrown me in Jesus Christ, even when my numb hands can no longer feel it.”

VIDEO: Trump at New Mexico rally, ‘A vote for any Democrat is a vote to destroy the U.S.’

The Democrats have had a very bad year. They are on the wrong side of every issue that the American people care about. Democrats are wrong on immigration, wrong on taxing the working class, wrong on the job killing $15 to $30 minimum wage and wrong on taking away the firearms of law abiding citizens.

Just last week the the Democrats in the U.S. House passed a law to stop drilling for oil in Alaska and off of the coasts of Florida. Then came the attack on the oil fields of Saudi Arabia by the Iranians. Talk about bad timing.

Remember it was the Democrats under Obama who gave us the Iran Nuclear Deal.

So, President Trump is correct when he said, “A vote for any Democrat is a vote to destroy the U.S.”

Missing Sam Kinison, Redux

As many of you know, we lost comedian Sam Kinison in an automobile accident back in 1992. For those of you who do not remember him, Sam was described as a “heavy metal” comedian who was well known for being raunchy and irreverent. Interestingly, prior to becoming a comedian he was an ordained Pentecostal Minister, but he was better known for his shock-rock humor who made biting commentaries of our time. It seemed nobody was spared, but his favorite targets were Rev. Jim Bakker of the PTL Club and his wife Tammy, Jessica Hahn, the Pope, Oral Roberts, religion in general, World Hunger, Gays, and several commentaries on sex, drugs and Rock n’Roll. I can still vividly remember his trademark scream.

Sam Kinison and His Legendary Scream at Dangerfield’s Comedy Club (1986).

No, he was certainly not politically correct, by both today’s and yesterday’s standards. His humor would make just about everyone blush, but behind it all you had to admit there was an element of truth and wisdom in his comedy, and this is what ultimately endeared him to the public. Many didn’t understand how a former minister could be so vulgar, but as for me, I clearly understood what he was trying to tell us.

What is sad is that Sam was cut down just as the times were changing and we needed his biting humor more than ever. Had Sam survived, imagine what he could have done with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill. He could have done hours on the Clintons and Monica Lewinsky alone. There was also Drummer Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson, Anna Nicole Smith and Paris Hilton, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and much, much more.

Sam’s humor though was not confined to sex. I would have loved to have heard his take on Bill Gates and Windows, Steve Jobs and the iPhone, the Internet, the Taliban, Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, Iraq and Saddam Hussein, immigration, and on and on. Unfortunately, Sam missed a period of time which would have given him more fodder for his humor than he could have imagined. But such was not to be.

What few people realize is that just prior to his death, Sam was planning on giving up comedy and going back to being a Minister. As for me, Sam taught me that in an age of political correctness, maybe some intolerance and ridicule is deserved; maybe we shouldn’t just sit back and accept the status quo and instead we should speak up and voice our displeasure, and; perhaps we take ourselves way too seriously.

So, Yes, I miss Sam, not just for how he ranted and raved, but more importantly, what he was trying to tell us.

Keep the Faith!

Linsey Davis—Old School, Young Soul

One of the most invisible journalists on TV that you probably have never heard of is Linsey Davis; and that is a good thing. As a matter of fact, for her profession, it is one of the highest compliments a journalist can get.

She is not to be confused with many of her colleagues in journalism who are more media whores than journalists.

Davis is a correspondent for ABC News who reports for World News, Good Morning America, Nightline, and 20/20.

She has two Emmy Awards and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award on her trophy shelf. She is also the author of the New York Times best-selling children’s book, “The World is Awake and the just released book One Big Heart.”

Davis was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in New Jersey. She matriculated to the University of Virginia for her undergraduate studies, receiving a degree in psychology. She received her master’s degree in communications from New York University.

She joined ABC News in 2007 and last week did something that only two other Black women have ever done. She was one of the moderators for last week’s Democrat presidential debate hosted by ABC.

She joins the likes of legendary journalists Carole Simpson and the late Gwen Ifill. Simpson moderated a debate in 1992 and Ifill did in both 2004 and 2008.

Davis, like Simpson and Ifill, are good friends of mine; and she is simply one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

These three women were all old school journalists who brought honor, dignity, and grace to the profession of journalism. These types of journalists are going the way of the dinosaurs, unfortunately!

These women didn’t seek to inject themselves into their stories or seek to constantly give us their opinions on every issue imaginable.

Davis was a great counter to the embarrassing debacle of ABC choosing radical liberal Jorge Ramos as a moderator. Ramos didn’t ask questions but rather made speeches and then asked the candidates to comment on them.

When you ask what is the definition of a journalist, you will see a picture of Linsey Davis. Her approach to journalism should be taught in every journalism school in America. Her approach should be mandatory. As a matter of fact, it already is. It’s called the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics.

With all the embarrassing behavior going on with people who “claim” to be journalists, Davis is truly a refreshing throwback to the days of old where a news story, in large part, was dependent on the credibility of the journalist.

This was Davis’ first time participating in a presidential debate and the mere fact that there was very little conversation about her after the debate was the surest sign that she did her job professionally; unlike Ramos who was roundly criticized for his lack of journalistic integrity during the debate.

Davis is an old school journalist though she is a young soul. Maybe she can help prevent the dinosaur of real journalism from becoming extinct.
