Only Fools Trust Obama or the Iranians

Only fools express any trust in Obama these days or the Iranians who have made him look the fool when no one in their neighborhood or the world trusts a thing they say or do.

After more than six years of listening to President Obama’s unremitting lies, when he says of the latest “accord” with Iran, “It’s a good deal” and standing in the Rose Garden declares that the U.S. and Iran have reached “an historic understanding” the only history being made his own ignominy and idiocy.

It would be historic if anyone could extend either President Obama or the Iranians any trust. Indeed, since the U.S. created its first atomic bombs to end World War II, one nation after another has secured their own nuclear weapons, starting with the then-Soviet Union who built theirs with plans stolen from us!

We have been down this road before. On April 1st Wall Street Journal columnist Daniel Henninger offered an abridged look at the quarter-century of negotiations with North Korea which agreed to all manner of terms, signed all kinds of agreements, and joined various international organizations to assure everyone of their peaceful intent. He warned that “No agreement is going to stop Iran. Agreements, and a lot of talk, did not stop North Korea.”

“Iran,” said Henninger, “knows it has nuclear negotiators’ immunity: No matter how or when Iran debauches any agreement, the West, abjectly, will request—what else?—more talks. Iran’s nuclear bomb and ballistic missile programs will go forward as North Korea’s obviously did, no matter what.”

All the back-and-forth between the White House and Congress about the “accord” is essentially meaningless. It is mostly a debate about the treaty-making powers the Constitution extends to the executive branch and, at the same time, limits with legislative “advice and consent” of the Senate. For now the Senate can only wait for whatever is decided by June 30, but it is unlikely Obama will send it the text of the agreement.

To influence the outcome, Congress talks of the sanctions it has imposed on Iran and says it will impose again, but Obama has no legal authority to lift those sanctions, only Congress does.

AA - Javad

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif

The same day the President made the announcement, Javad Zarif, the Iranian counterpart to Secretary of State John Kerry made his own announcement. The U.S. and Iran, he said, had agreed in principle to let Iran continue running major portions of its nuclear program. “None of those measures”, intended to slow Iran’s progress, “include closing any of our facilities. We will continue enriching; we will continue research and development.”

This is the result of 18 months of “negotiations” with Iran. In the same way the U.S. caved to North Korea since the 1990s, it has caved to Iran and it has done so with the blessing of the European Union and the other members of the P-5+1, France, Great Britain, Russia, China, and Germany.

For good measure, to show how wonderfully warm the relations between Iran and the U.S. are, within hours after Obama’s announcement, Foreign Minister Zarif accused the U.S. of lying about the details of the tentative framework—“the historic understanding”—saying that the U.S. had promised the immediate termination of sanctions.

The notion that we would know if Iran was continuing its nuclear program because the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be inspecting its facilities is about as credible as similar inspections in North Korea when, in 2002, it cut the IAEA seals on its nuclear factories and withdrew from the non-Proliferation treaty, starting a nuclear reactor. It has pursued its nuclear weapons and missile programs ever since.

In the same fashion as the Soviet Union, China, and Israel, we didn’t know that either Pakistan or India had acquired nuclear capability until after they tested theirs. That’s how we will know when Iran has nuclear weapons. It already has intercontinental missiles with which to deliver them.

As quoted in an April 3 article by Mark Dubowitz, executive director, and Annie Fixler, policy analyst, of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, they cite an unnamed “senior State Department official” as saying “The truth is, you can dwell on Yemen, or you can recognize that we’re one agreement away from a game-changing, legacy-setting nuclear accord on Iran that tackles what everyone agrees is the biggest threat to the region.”

Unless one believes in unicorns and other fantasies, this latest “accord” and what we are being told about it by the President and the State Department is not a great achievement. It is doomed to failure because Iran has had no intention of doing anything other than getting economic and other sanctions removed. Time is on their side as they work to develop their own nuclear weapons.

When Iran tests its first nuclear weapon, Obama should return his Nobel Peace Prize.

Defending New Jersey’s Politicians

I’d be surprised to learn that anyone in the Obama and Holder Department of Justice even knows how to spell “justice.”

On the same day it announced an indictment of New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez (D) for allegedly taking bribes and engaging in various forms of corruption, it also announced that it would not pursue a criminal contempt of Congress resolution against Lois Lerner, the member of the Internal Revenue Service at the center of the effort to deny conservative groups the right to be certified for non-profit tax status.

Without such status, the group’s ability to raise funds and pursue their issues and agenda was significantly impacted. If you were a liberal group, however, you sailed right through. That’s that way the Obama administration has functioned in all aspects of governance since it began in 2009.

In what is now becoming a standard way of avoiding an investigation, last June the IRS announced that it had “lost” two years’ worth of Lerner’s emails in a 2011 computer crash. An IRS inspector general, however, unearthed the backup tapes believed to contain them. Lerner would not speak to lawmakers, but she has reportedly cooperated with the FBI.

In an April 1 Politico.com article, “Don’t Blame Menendez, Blame New Jersey” Jeff Smith and Brian Murphy would have you believe that New Jersey is a steaming heap of political corruption that has no equal. When was the last time a New Jersey senator was found guilty of bribery? 1981. Thirty-four years ago. An entire generation has been born and grown up in the Garden State since then.

I am born, bred, and live in New Jersey. Illinois has ex-Governors in jail and no New Jersey Governor ever shared that distinction.

Our current one, Chris Christie, came to statewide attention when, as the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, he put a number of our politicians in jail for corruption in addition to a slew of convictions for sexual slavery, arms trafficking, and racketeering by gangs, along with other federal crimes.

He was a very good lawyer and had also been politically ambitious, rising through the ranks, campaigning for Bush 41 and 43, the latter who appointed him to the State Attorney post. In a very Democratic state, he would handily defeat Joe Corzine in 2009 to become Governor because Corzine was as incompetent then as Obama is today.

The rap on New Jersey is that politicians and those who donate a chunk of money to support their election are somehow different or special in some way. I doubt there is a political reporter or blogger in any other state that could not regale you with a history of their crooked politicians and appointees that would not equal or exceed ours.

AA - Sen. Menendez

New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez (D)

Now, let’s get to the heart of the charges against Sen. Menendez. More to the point, when the charges were announced. In early March he gave a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Menendez made no secret of his displeasure that the Obama administration was negotiating with Iran. “When it comes to defending the U.S.-Israel relationship,” he told the group, “I am not intimidated by anyone—not Israel’s political enemies and not by my political friends when I feel they’re wrong.” He said that as long has he had an ounce of fight in him, “Iran will never have a pathway to a (nuclear) weapon.”

And Menendez had also made it clear that he opposed the normalizing of a diplomatic relationship with Cuba. “The deal achieved nothing for Americans.”

When the DOJ indictment was announced, the state’s largest daily newspaper virtually pronounced him guilty. “The litany of travel arranged by U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez’s good friend, Salomon Melgen, reads like the operation of a small airline.” It salivated over the 68-page indictment and the favors alleged between him and “his wealthy benefactor” that included “more than $1 million to various political campaigns connected to the senator.” No question about it, Melgen was Menendez’s friend and supporter. That is, however, not against the law.

I doubt there is a member of the U.S. Senate that does not have such wealthy supporters, nor any that have not accepted an invitation to vacation as their guest. Did Menendez reply by using the influence of his office to facilitate visas or the approval of deals by which Melgen would benefit? In one cited case that influence did not have any effect on the outcome, but simply stated this is part of the job. It is the quid pro quo of politics and always has been.

The Department of Justice indictment came at the same time the Obama administration had squandered 18 months in useless, senseless negotiations with Iran to arrive at an agreement that would ultimately permit Iran to produce nuclear bombs. No other nation wants that. Iran had never ceased to tell the world it intended to “wipe Israel off the map”, nor cease to call America the “Great Satan.”

The level of hubris from the President to the Secretary of State to those engaged in the negotiations is beyond measurement. It blinds them to the obvious.

The White House clearly could not permit a prominent Democratic senator to tell the Israelis and the world what a bunch of jackasses they were. They feared losing control of the rest of the Democratic senators and thus Menendez is being subjected to a long, costly indictment as a lesson to the others.

The indictment suggests a pattern of corruption based solely on the relationship between Menendez and Melgem, both longtime friends. If Menendez broke the law the DOJ should have been able to come up with comparable charges involving others for whom he intervened. If I was a gambling man, I would bet that Sen. Menendez beats the charges.

The Quest for True Equality

During the past two weeks Americans have lost their minds regarding the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) that was passed and signed into law by Indiana governor, Mike Pence. My readers know I do not support homosexual marriage or the homosexual agenda of being legally protected as a class based on their sexual preferences.

My purpose with this column is to bring some sanity to the debate swirling around the issue of religious freedom. I want to remove all emotion from the debate and discuss the facts.

The bill in question was Indiana Senate Bill 101, titled the “Religious Freedom and Restoration Act.” Pence signed the bill into law and all hell broke loose. Opponents said the bill would allow businesses to discriminate against homosexuals; supporters said it would protect business owners from doing things that would put them at odds with their religious beliefs.

The bill was three pages long and never mentioned the words homosexual or gay; thus the homosexual community went out seeking a problem where none existed.

The homosexual community is masterful at PR. When you don’t have public support for your position, many times a good PR campaign can usually do the trick. As I have written many times in previous columns, Republicans are horrible when it comes to PR and communications, even when they are right on the issue.

Gov. Pence in particular and Republicans in general showed total incompetence in dealing with this issue. They should have anticipated this type of reaction from the radical left. This was so obvious that even Stevie Wonder could have seen this coming.

Nineteen other states have passed similar laws, with several others considering the same. So you mean to tell me that almost half of America believes in discrimination? I don’t think so!

This whole debate has absolutely nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with forcing Americans to accept the homosexual lifestyle and their intolerant agenda. Homosexuals don’t deserve special treatment because of their sexual preferences; but they do deserve equal treatment because of their humanity.

They would argue how could I, as a Black man who has experienced discrimination, support the discrimination that they suffer because of their sexual preferences? Their plight, according to them, is the Civil Rights of our day. STOP right there!

I find it extremely offensive for homosexuals to attempt to equate the two. Blacks fought for rights that were already enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution granted us citizenship, equality, and the right to vote; the Constitution just wasn’t being enforced. Thus, the need for civil disobedience, political and legal action.

There is no such accommodation for homosexuality, NONE. That’s what this fight is all about. They want to be “legally” codified as a protected class strictly based on their sexual preferences and gender identity.

Now, let’s assume for this discussion that you are a Christian and that you believe homosexuality is a sin, thus is wrong. Homosexuals would argue, and rightfully so, sin is sin. How is homosexuality any different than lying, adultery, murder, cheating, stealing, etc.? Great question. I have an answer that homosexuals don’t want to deal with.

Name me one state in the U.S. where they are trying to legalize lying, adultery, murder, cheating, or stealing? Homosexuality is the only sin that people are trying to codify as legally and morally permissible. Can someone please reconcile this for me?

Homosexuals have been successful at getting many courts to recognize them as a protected class even though there is no legal basis to recognize someone based on their sexual preferences. It takes a lot of legal creativity to create a protected class out of nothing.

I find it quite interesting that, as a heterosexual Black male, that I would not be allowed to join a lesbian group or sit on the board of a homosexual chamber of commerce (yes, they do exist). Is this not also hateful, bigoted, and discriminatory?

Why is it necessary for everyone to know your sexual preferences? If I go to my workplace and tell women that I am heterosexual and like women; I will be rushed down to the HR department and possibly fired. But, if I go to the same workplace and announce that I am homosexual, they close early and the CEO buys a big cake and we celebrate my courage for stating my sexual preference publically (i.e. would be N.F.Ler., Michael Sam)

Courage is stating that you are homosexual in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. Courage is sitting at a Woolworth lunch counter and knowing that you are going to get the hell beat out of you because you are Black.

On a homosexual’s worst day, they have nothing to fear in America; on their worst day, nothing they go through can ever compare to what Blacks went through from slavery until the present. We didn’t get sold into slavery because we were homosexual; homosexuals never get pulled over by police because they are homosexual; homosexuals never get shot by police because they are homosexual; they don’t get denied bank loans because they are homosexual. So please dispense with the odious comparisons.

Blacks never sought special recognition as a class, we simply wanted recognition.

Pop Goes the Culture

America and the West as well as parts of Asia, such as Japan and South Korea, have a real problem on their hands.  It’s a problem that is growing.  But nowhere is it more glaring and out of control than in the United States.  Even Canada has sensed this growing problem and actually exports their problem to the United States.

I’m talking about Pop Culture.  You know what I am talking about.  We have a culture that is almost totally centered on entertainment.  Not just the product such as music or movies or art and such.  But centered on those that produce that music, movie, art or such.

We glamourize the “stars” and put them on a pedestal and no matter what these people say or do, they are hardly ever demonized in any way.  In some cases, the “star” can even get away with murder.  At least in the public’s eye, they can even if the law finds them guilty.

This is dangerous at best and a complete societal breakdown in the making at worst.  We have started to make our political and legal leaders “pop stars”.  We determine who will lead us locally and nationally based on how well they look on TV and how well they speak.

Substance comes second.  Especially if its Liberal ideology that they are spewing.  In that case, substance my actually come last.

We have an entire generation that is actually less educated than their parents’ generation.  Even though the younger set has a greater percentage of college degrees.  They actually know less and are heavily influenced by sound bites and pop culture.

That pop culture mentality bleeds into politics at all levels of government.  The younger set demand more government intervention and higher taxes but do not fully understand the ramifications of their wants and desires.  So when something hits them in their wallet, they blame others instead of realizing they got exactly what they asked for.

Yet they will take to the streets or hit the Internet and spew their limited knowledge and decry how unjust the current system is.  Not understanding that they are the main reason for their own discontent.

Politicians pay attention to this nonsense as well.  If you stop and think about it, you will notice all the laws that we have enacted that were influenced by pop culture.

The whole Religious Freedom Law fiasco in Indiana and Arkansas is proof of this.  This shows how shallow the knowledge of many in the younger generation is.  They don’t know or understand that many states have similar laws already on the books and the world is not falling apart.

The younger set doesn’t know or realize that then President Bill Clinton signed a similar law into existence back in 1993 with huge fanfare from the left, as I recall.  Yet sound bite pop culture has decided this “new” law in these two states is directed totally at the gay community and has nothing to do with religious freedom.

However, when you ask these same pop culture gurus point blank, if you had a t-shirt shop and you were gay would you want to be forced to print a bunch of shirts that were anti-gay?  Their immediate and total reaction is a flat no.  But they are too brain dead to relate that same scenario to the other side.

It’s a total selfish, self-absorbed mind set.  Its all about them.  Nobody else counts in their eyes.  Its all about being popular and doing the popular thing and thinking in the popular think.  There is no room for being thoughtful towards your fellow citizen.  There is no room for doing what is best for your community.  There is only room for what is best for each of them and what makes them feel good about themselves.

You may think that we cannot change that mindset and mentality.  But we can.  Its called real and complete education.  And that kind of education begins at home.  It takes parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles to counter the over simplification of pop culture.

It takes true patriots and true historians to set the record straight and to force the younger generation to think beyond the sound bites.  To delve deeper than the surface interaction they are used to.  It takes a few wise people to shout out the truth and do it often.

We can pop this pop culture so it goes back to the position and place it belongs.  Pop Culture belongs at the back of the bus and should be viewed only as entertainment, a temporary distraction and should not be construed as the main stream thought that rules our politics and our lives.

In the end, if we do not pop this pop culture, we will end up being popped and imprisoned by it.

Memories Pizza: We Did It Together!

Patriots, we did it! We raised over $840 grand expressing our love, support and solidarity with Memories Pizza – a Christian owned business temporarily closed down due to extreme harassment from the Left.

The Blaze TV host Dana Loesch came up with the idea of a fundraiser for Memories Pizza, targeted for destruction because of their beliefs in support of traditional marriage. National talk radio hosts Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh picked up Dana’s baton and ran with it.

Memories-PizzaWhat struck me most about the initiative was the self-less unity. Conservatives of varying stripes came together to lift up a wounded brother (Memories Pizza) in the battle for liberty and freedom. In essence, conservatives across America said to Memories Pizza, “Hang in there bro, we got your back.” Awesome! This is how we win this battle for our freedom folks. This is how we push them back.

The fundraiser felt like a project of our national conservative family. I was excited about participating; eager to do my part. Mary does our on-line transactions. The moment she awoke, before she could pour her first cup of coffee, I asked her to go to the website and contribute. When she told me it was done, we felt great.

But folks, what really warmed my heart is the fact that we did it together. United we stand, divided we fall sounds cliche. However, it is so true. Look at the power we have when we work together.

“Its amazing what you can accomplish when you do not care who gets the credit” Harry S. Truman

Twenty years ago, I produced a similar feel good initiative. Working on a song in the recording studio late one night, a ten year old kid knocked on the door asking for money. Frank Starchak my music producer said the kid had bad parents and was on the road to becoming a juvenile delinquent.

That night, I dreamed of various singers and bands coming together, laying aside their egos to record “Amazing Grace” in their own style (musical genre). I sent out a clarion call to the Maryland music community. We recorded a unique version of the classic hymn. All proceeds from sales of the recording benefited a youth center run by a Catholic nun, Sister Bobby. Please give it a listen.

There is a verse in the Bible that says they meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. Clearly, the Left’s attack on Memories Pizza was an evil attempt to destroy the Christian owned business.

God used the Left’s attack to bless not just Memories Pizza, but give a must needed shot of feel-good inspiration in the arm of the Tea Party movement.

A patriot called a national talk radio show to say she and her husband plan to trek to Memories Pizza to celebrate their wedding anniversary. What a great idea.

Brother and sister patriots, together, we did it! United we stand, divided we fall.

A President, Not a Potentate

In 2010, before the midterm elections, President Obama said, “We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends.”

Instead, it was the Democratic Party that got punished as voters rejected its candidates, rendering it some of its biggest losses since the Great Depression. The Republican Party gained 63 seats in the House of Representatives, recapturing the majority, the largest seat change since 1948.

In November 2014, the voters gave complete control of Congress to Republicans for the first time in eight years as they retained every one of the GOP Senate seats up for reelection and added six more to ensure a Republican majority.

What was apparent before the 2010 election and since has been a President who regards himself and his powers as that of a potentate, a monarch scornful of the Congress in the same way English kings scorned their parliament until forced to relinquish total power and grant individual freedom to their subjects.

In the twenty-two months before Obama’s second and final term ends, I am, I confess, increasingly fearful of what he has in mind for America. The voters have already made it clear they oppose his gun control efforts, his views on illegal immigration and they want ObamaCare repealed.

As this is written, Americans are growing increasingly concerned over the outcome of the negotiations with Iran. Obama’s chief of staff, Denis McDonough, has written to Bob Corker (R-TN), the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, harshly criticizing the notion that the Senate should have anything to say regarding the negotiations and suggesting that Obama has the authority to lift the sanctions imposed by Congress on Iran. He doesn’t.

A White House that believes it has powers that a simple reading of the Constitution tells them are limited is dangerous place. Obama’s White House has been gaining a reputation for lawlessness and we have seen this in the way the IRS denied conservative groups the right to tax-exempt status to which they were entitled. Then, not so mysteriously, the emails that would reveal this were “lost.”

In the wake of the Benghazi tragedy in which our ambassador and three other staff were killed on September 12, 2012—the anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon—the emails of the then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have gone missing along with all the rest of those wiped clean from her personal server. I still recall seeing her stand beside the President when he blatantly lied to Americans and the world that the attack was the result of a video no one had ever seen.

Cover - Our Lost ConstitutionIn his book, “Our Lost Constitution: The Willful Subversion of America’s Founding Document”, by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) he devotes a chapter to the Fourth Amendment:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probably cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Colonial Americans had watched a famous case in England in which John Wilkes had led the fight to ensure that the King could no longer arbitrarily search and seize the property of anyone. They had fought a Revolution to be free of such tyranny. In the effort to secure the ratification of the Constitution, in 1789 James Madison began drafting the Bill of Rights that several of the states said had to be part of the Constitution if they were to ratify it. It was introduced to the First Congress that same year.

Sen. Lee expresses concern that “for the past eight years, the federal government has relied on an excessively broad interpretation of an excessively broad provision of the USA Patriot Act to collect and, in some circumstances, search through vast amounts of information that most Americans would consider both private and entirely unrelated to national security.”

Noting the intelligence agencies such as the National Security Agency that routinely gather enormous information about all our electronic communications, telephone calls and email, Sen. Lee says that “One could argue, however, that that far greater threat to government of the people, by the people, and for the people is the near certainty that those who wield this power will eventually use it to identify and punish anyone whom may disagree with them. This type of abuse could weaken or even destroy constitutionally limited government as we know it.”

That’s what has me worried specifically about Barack Obama. I have no doubt at all that he would and probably has used the vast information gathering capacity at his disposal to “punish” those he regards his enemies.

Consider what he did to Iraq War hero Gen. David Petraeus who he had appointed as Director of the CIA. He drove him from that post and threatened him with jail for an infraction that likely was discovered by monitoring his private communications. By contrast, Hillary Clinton’s email server was, according to intelligence experts, likely hacked to the point where our enemies knew exactly what she and the State Department was doing. And she wants to be your next President.

My ultimate concern is that Obama might declare martial law for whatever spurious reason he would give. It would suspend the Constitution and leave us with no rights at all, subject to arrest for resisting his takeover of the nation. It would also mobilize the largest army in the world…America’s hunters and gun owners!

Obama has been working to federalize police authorities around the nation. He has purged the military of any officer that was deemed to disagree with his policies. All that stands between us and him is the Constitution and Congress. And the fact that millions of Americans, thanks to the Second Amendment, are armed in the event he tries to assert dictatorial powers.

Secular Signs of Spiritual Significance — What Could They Mean?

Recent events like solar and lunar eclipses and the nuclear talks with Iran have biblical significance. What do they signify, or  do they have any relevance for us?

Einstein said, “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”

Two weeks ago, we saw a “rare” solar eclipse falling on the spring equinox accompanied by a supermoon when the moon was as close as possible to the earth. Saturday night we may see a “blood moon” due to a full lunar eclipse.

So what do such signs mean?

A library would likely have the information and here’s where the Spanish language can help us. The word for library in Spanish is biblioteca—Bible tech! That’s right. The Bible has answers, but sometimes we have to be like a librarian to find them. And the more we use the library, the easier it gets as we become familiar with card catalogues or computer searches.

We can do the same with the Bible. Any word or phrase we want to find in the Bible can be found with the use of an online concordance. For example, if we type “sun, moon” into a concordance search, it gives 35 results. Because I’m familiar with this “library,” I find Joel 2:31 helpful:

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” The concordance also shows the Hebrew words and what they mean. For example, the word “before” comes from paniym, meaning face or “ in the face of”–impending!

But what does the “day of the Lord” mean? Many people think it means the day Christ comes again, but using the online concordance, we find the phrase 23 times and again Joel has five references to it—more than any other book. Here’s an example:

“The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark…the day of the LORD is great” Joel 2:10,11. The chapter has many other “events,” but not the “2nd coming.” Nevertheless, serious events may be impending.

This week we saw more coincidences. When the U.S., UK, China, France, Germany and Russia have been concerned for 12 years and been negotiating with Iran for 18 months re a nuclear program that came to a head this week, maybe it’s just a coincidence, but what does our library—Bible tech suggest?

“The day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night, For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes” 1Thessalonians 5:2,3. If we are honest, we would have to characterize those talks as “Peace and safety.” This could heighten our expectations for serious events. We might not know exactly, but maybe this is the reason for the blood moon.

As Israel put blood on their doorpost and prayed that God would pass over them in judgment, we can believe God is putting blood on the moon–Who else could arrange that phenomena we are seeing?

Why not ask God to pass over us in any judgments that come. It’s not just Jewish. Christ did the same, asking his followers to “watch and pray.” Wouldn’t that be a more Christian way to celebrate this time than looking for Easter eggs?

We won’t likely hear any voices or see any visions, but people who ask God for things testify that while they don’t always get what they want, they are convinced that He’s there and sometimes they are later glad they didn’t get what [or who] they wanted!

That could also be God’s way of remaining anonymous, and for us, it’s an opportunity to build character based on choices to include or exclude Him—He leaves the choice to us. After all, if He stood over us with a big stick, forcing us to do it His way, we would have no freedom—but He didn’t wanted robots, so He the freedom of choice that He gave us.

Iran Framework: Give an Inch, Give a Mile

‘The U.S. negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran’s behalf with other members of the P5+1 countries and convince them of a deal.’ What type of hawkish bigot could possibly have made such a claim? Well, it was actually said by an Iranian journalist Amir Hossein Motaghi, a close aide of President Rouhani who headed his public relations team during the 2013 Iranian Presidential elections. While covering the nuclear negotiations in Lausanne Mr. Motaghi decided to defect because he said he was fed up writing what he was told to write by the regime.

Mr Motaghi’s insight is particularly revealing because so comparatively little has emerged from Switzerland this week. Despite the timeline for talks continuously over-running and continuously being extended. The reasons have been rumoured but rarely confirmed. Each time the deadline on the talks has expired the Americans have leaked that they are getting close and that there is no point in halting the talks because of such ‘arbitrary’ deadlines. There are obviously sticking points, as anyone could have foreseen. Though what those sticking points are nobody yet knows.

What does seem to be known is that the Americans have rolled over on a number of concessions. One particularly notable concession which has apparently been made is that the Americans have agreed to allow the Iranians to continue spinning the centrifuges in their Fordow facility. That is the underground facility which President Obama himself has previously said is one that the Iranians do not need if their ambition is to develop a purely peaceful nuclear facility.

The short explanation for what is going on in Lausanne is that the U.S. negotiating team’s position has fundamentally changed. Having promised the American people repeatedly that no deal would be better than a bad deal, they seem to have decided that any deal is better than no deal. There are a variety of reasons people will give for this ranging from malign intent to wilful optimism via the usual problems caused by the fog of negotiations.

In any case it is striking that of the few leaks that have come out from the talks one fact remains clear – that the Iranians haven’t budged an inch. While the Americans continue to try to persuade their negotiating partners to give more concessions to Iran, the Iranians seem perfectly happy where they are. And why would they not be? For even while standing still everything seems to be able to fall into their lap. Just this week they have been able to make further territorial and political gains not just in Iraq but also in Yemen. Indeed the one clear message that is coming out from the region’s instability at the moment is the fact that the only winner anywhere, repeatedly, is Iran.

The American negotiating team in Switzerland may indeed think that their primary requirement in the negotiations is to persuade their European partners to budge in Iran’s favour. The future of the nuclear consensus and the security of the future of the world depends on the Europeans ignoring them.

One of the unintentional consequences of America’s Middle East policy in recent months has been to encourage those Arab states threatened by the rise of Iran’s nuclear power and of the spread of Islamic State (IS) to take their security matters into their own hands.

In various iterations, we have seen alliances of different Arab states come together to conduct bombing operations in Libya, participate in air strikes in Syria and Iraq and engage in ground operations in Yemen. Now cooperation has been taken a step further, with the announcement this week that for the first time, the Arab League will develop a multi-national military force capable of insertion into local conflicts.

The last time there was any similar degree of unanimity in the Arab world was in the heady days of Nasserite Pan-Arabism in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Then, Egypt’s President bestrode the region like a colossus, looking to cajole his fellow Arabs into a united socialist nirvana. But whereas Pan-Arabism proved disastrous for the Arab World – and led directly to provocation of Israel and the events of the Six Day War that killed the concept – this new development should be welcomed.

For too long, wealthy states in the Middle East have freeloaded their security requirements off the US commitment to stability in the region. In a world of shrinking defence budgets, this is now an unaffordable luxury. That these states are now feeling the effects of this over-reliance on a US administration whose policies they dislike is no bad thing in and of itself. If it encourages a greater sense of taking control of destinies in the Middle East, then we may even have found one aspect of the Obama administration’s policies – albeit unintentional – to applaud.

Is Liberty Now A Thing Of The Past?

Many say that America is now the land of the free and home of the brave in concept only. It is getting more difficult to argue with that assessment. When Indiana governor, Mike Pence initially signed into law a religious liberty bill I was pleased and thought highly of the Hoosier State leader.  Unfortunately, after a hot air blow back from the usual progressive suspects, a proposal to amend changes to the bill was brought forth by the governor. So basically, certain individuals and anti- Christian groups don’t approve of Christians exercising their religious beliefs in the operation of their businesses. Even NASCAR went to nutsville, making some idiotic proclamation about welcoming homosexuals to their events. NASCAR’S little statement was nothing more than phony grand-standing event to make brownie points with anti-Christians zealots.

No-one advocates not allowing homosexuals to be prevented from being treated with the same respect due anyone else. By the way, for you anything goes promoters, the personal life choice of an individual or group does not supersede the right of another to operate according to his or her religious beliefs.  It is about time that homosexuals and their progressive supporters grow up and stop trying to bully people who don’t think and believe as they do.  I know that many homosexuals, just like liberals, progressives, dedicated Muslims, etc. are not stupid.  So let’s cut to the chase.  You people and groups want to fundamentally change America into a land void of the Christian values she was founded upon, including virtue and traditional family values. It is you liberals, homosexuals, dedicated Muslims and progressives who truly discriminate against sovereign individuals who don’t believe, act or think like you do.

If a homosexual, transvestite, or lesbian wants to walk into any bakery in America, they can purchase a cake. But Christians who actually believe the word of God concerning unnatural lifestyles may not want to sale a cake for that purpose.  It is not about discrimination against anyone. What is going on is homo-intimidation of those who believe in and operate according to a different lifestyle standard.

The Bible states that certain things are an abomination to God, including men laying with men in a sexual manner, also adultery and fornication. The last time I checked (and I really did check) American Christians are being forced to celebrate unnatural sexual activities. But a funny thing occurred to me. Adulterers are not filing into bakeries and demanding adultery cakes, or fornication cakes for fornicators. There are a great number of non-Christian specialty bakeries willing to oblige, just not a Christian bakery.

Besides, if I were not a Christian and homosexual who wanted to purchase a cake that reflects something totally non-Christian, I would try to force a Christian bakery to take my business. To try and bully others just to force them to serve your cause is not justice, nor is it morally correct. The so-called tolerance of the unnatural sexual practitioners always harp about is a crock of you know what.

It was a shame that governor Pence folded under pressure from people who do not believe in religious liberty. The left is hoping that those they oppose will give up their beliefs and cow-tow to their outrageous demands. Such actions exhibited by governor Pence is indicative of part of the reason why our republic turned mob rule democracy is in mortal danger of collapsing from within. If we are not willing to stand for what we believe or know to be right, our nation will end up falling for anything and suffer the consequences.

“We the People” can no longer afford to give in or give out because it may be a bit of uncomfortable persecution from the bigoted progressives. The more of our unalienable rights we allow to be trampled upon just to get along to go along, the more difficult it will be to simply live in the United States. The progressives, liberals and unnatural sexual practitioners will never stop complaining about others who don’t walk in lockstep with them.  For example the legions of homosexual supporters and other leftists who threatened the lives of pizzeria owners in Walktertown, Indiana because they are Christians who would not cater a homosexual wedding.  I thank God for the even greater numbers of Americans, both gay and straight, who showed with monetary support and words of encouragement for the pizzeria owners who only expressed their faith.

My fellow Americans, let’s remember the worthy words of the Revolutionary War her Thomas Paine. “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”

Wake up America and avoid certain doom, let us together resume our nation’s destiny of greatness.

God Bless America and May America Bless God.

The People’s Cube is 10 years old

On this day, 1 April 2015, the People’s Cube is celebrating ten glorious years of unstoppable revolutions. Jubilant masses of correctly educated workers, peasants, and unwashed toiling intelligentsia are coming together in towns and villages around the world, carrying People’s Cube posters, peacefully hurling red cubes at the capitalist classes, and spontaneously chanting Party-approved slogans:

People's Cube

Long live the Glorious World of Next Tuesday! Hurrah!

  • Cheers for our beloved comrade Red Square, People’s Director!
  • We need more visual agitation and propaganda to tell us what to think!
  • There is no truth but the Current Truth
  • We demand equality of results!
  • Ten years equals three Five-Year Plans completed ahead of schedule!

Ten years ago, when our Party Organ ascended over the digital horizon like the red sun of the media revolution, Comrade Red Square delivered his famous ten-hour speech, titled “Gulagosphere for the Masses.” In part, he stated that the American Motherland was lagging a hundred years behind the Soviet Motherland in redistribution of wealth, collectivization, re-education, socialized healthcare, government dependency, and media compliance. Our most urgent task was to jam an entire century of missed progress into only ten years, so that we would have a chance to see the Glorious World of Next Tuesday in our time.

The people and the Party responded to such burning words with massive enthusiasm, closing the gap ahead of schedule and surpassing other nations in our collective march towards the GloriousNext Tuesday. At least that’s where we are now according to the compliant media, and that’s all that matters.

People's Cube worship

In response to hostile criticism coming from our enemies at home and abroad, we would ask them a question: If our nation and its leaders weren’t following our instructions transmitted through the People’s Cube, what would they do differently?

Upon completion of spontaneous rallies later tonight, the masses are scheduled to begin spontaneous celebrations according to the protocols developed by the People’s Cube Hospitality Committee.

Old Should Be New in Old Fashioned

I have to admit, I am old enough to remember a time without cell phones, personal computers, video games and 24/7 television.  But I am also young enough to understand that all of this new electronic stuff has been a boon to mankind.

But sometimes I wonder how good has our modern technology really been to us as humans, as Americans.  Is it really what we as a society truly wanted?  Or did we get caught up in the myth that we need the newest, biggest, fastest gadget that someone can think up and bring to market?

Yes, I remember a simpler time.  I know, I know.  Your grandparents say the same thing.  Your great grandparents say the same thing.  But, did you ever really stop to think that they may be right?  Did you ever slow down long enough to really smell the sweet roses?  Did you ever think to enjoy the moment that you are currently in?  Did you?

In our so-called modern life, we seem to go faster than ever.  We have all kinds of devices that make things easier, faster, seemingly more simple but we get upset when our computer takes 5 seconds to download a picture instead of it doing it in a micro second.

We find that we work longer hours even though we have all kinds of modern stuff that makes us more productive than anyone thought possible.  We have less time at the dinner table than ever before because every member of the family is either totally connected to the outside world or schedules are so busy that even sleep takes a back seat.

How refreshing it is to live in a part of the United States where we have some semblance of history.  I say that because really we are a nation that is only a little over 230 years old.  Not counting the Native Americans that occupied this land beforehand, we are a civilization that is just barely 500 years old, if you wish to go back to the time Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

We in the United States lack a real and serious sense of history.  Think of Europe, Africa and Asia where families have lived in the same house longer than we have been a nation and you start to understand that we don’t have a very deep history.

But here in New England, the Northeast, the Eastern Seaboard, our nation has its deepest roots.  I am very fortunate to live in this area of the nation because I get to go back in time whenever I wish.  Whenever I need to remind myself there is something greater and better and sweeter than this plastic, silicone and metal society we populate today.

I can easily take a trip back in time when things were made of metal, wood, paper and other natural materials.  I can see and feel cobblestones and brick streets and drives.  I can feel the old wood ships and see the devices of 100 years ago still in perfect working order today.

I can step back in time and experience when things were slower, more personable.  When service really meant service and attention by a human being, not an answering machine or an email address.

I can easily drive down a country road and stumble upon a small town with a fully functioning Country Store.  Step inside and see the store jam packed from floor to ceiling with goods both modern and from a time gone by.  I often chose the product from a time gone by.  It some how taste better.  No chemicals.  No preservatives.  No by products.  Nothing artificial.  Just the real thing.

I can look at the label and marvel at how many things still say “Made In America”.  I bask in the warm and friendly smile of the store keeper and know that they will take care of my every need and still offer me a more than fair price.

I can chat with the local towns folk in the town square or library or on the steps of Town Hall.  Yes, people still gather at these locations here in New England.

I can see the old road signs of an era long gone.  Yes, I marvel at how life used to be and ask even with all of our so-called modern convenience, how is life better today?  We have less time to just enjoy life.

No I am not some old man longing for my younger days.  I have not even hit the age of 50 yet.  But I do understand a time period when a man would hold a door open for a woman.  When a child, no matter how old, would never even think about cussing in front of their parents or disrespecting their parents.  I long for the days when the local policeman walked his beat and chatted with folks on the street and truly served and protected the community vs being locked away and separated from that community by a fast moving vehicle with the windows rolled up and air conditioner blowing.

Yes, back to a time when the fire department would come to your home to rescue a cat out of a tree.  When a town parade was the hi-lite of the summer and where everyone looked out for everyone else because you knew your neighbors by name.

So tell me again how our fast paced, 24/7, electronic, non personal modern society is better than the time of yesteryear?  Tell me again how not knowing your neighbor or your policeman or your fireman or even having a long term doctor is better?  Tell me again how having food loaded with chemicals and preservatives just to increase shelf life, but deliver little nutritional value is better than real food grown and prepared just before you eat it?  Tell me again how the lack of family dinners, trips to the beach, town parades is somehow of great benefit to our society.  Tell me again, please.  And tell me how.

Sure we know a lot more in 2011 than in 1911 but at what cost did we learn?  Could we not have learned but still have kept our basic core values?  I say we could.  I say we can have those core values again.  I say we can go back to a time when we could leave our front door unlocked all night in total safety.  I say we can go back to a time when we didn’t have to pay someone to watch over us and our possessions via some distant computer monitor and charge us a monthly fee for the honor.  I say we can go back to a time when we could actually trust our local and national politicians.  I say we can go back.

I like holding a door open for a lady.  I like talking with my neighbors and getting to know them.  I like small town parades.  I like the small town general store.  Yes, I like Old Fashioned and in most cases prefer it to New Fangled.

Now if I could just have one more taste of my great aunts vanilla pudding, that would complete my trip back in time.  I miss you T.T.

Experience for yourself what life was like.  I bet that you too, will prefer Old Fashioned.  Simply because Old Fashioned really never goes out of style.  Old Fashioned still works, period.

The “Cinderella Man” Complex

Due to my near obsession with opinion shows on the 24-hour news channels, I don’t watch many movies anymore. But, a few days ago I stumbled upon the movie “Cinderella Man” about the life of professional boxer James J. Braddock. Although I love boxing and was familiar with Braddock’s story, I was unaware of all the layers of his incredible comeback story.

What makes Braddock’s story so compelling is his embodiment of many characteristics universally accepted as virtuous and worthy of emulation. Many people are tough, many are resilient, and many have a solemn sense of personal responsibility. But people who can lay claim to having all of those characteristics, at the same time, have all of the markers of greatness.

Braddock had these characteristics in spades. Braddock lived through the worst of the Great Depression with his wife and children but refused to take any handouts until his situation became untenable. He refused to stop working on the docks even though he frequently did so with a badly injured and broken right hand, which he hurt in the ring. And, most importantly, he never gave up on a career in boxing despite losing a number of bouts and being labeled a “has been.”

I am writing about Braddock because we have reached another turning point in the evolution of the Republican Party and Braddock’s story can help us find a better path to tomorrow. Many of the principled conservatives, libertarians, and Republican activists I speak with are tired. But they are not tired of the ever-present fight to defend individual liberty and vibrant freedoms; they are tired of the fights with members of their own Party.

A prominent, passionate and respected conservative activist made me aware of an incident this week where she was told that it would probably be best if she “left the Party.” She was told this by a well-known Washington Party insider who should have been embarrassed by this open show of ignorance but, surprisingly, he appeared proud of it. These are the fights that are wearing the grassroots down.

Despite what the insider class may believe, it’s the grassroots that owns the Party, not the insiders. The grassroots activists are the ones doing most of the inglorious work, while the insiders claim the spoils of that work. You would think they would be grateful, but instead, many are resentful.

What the insider class consistently fails to understand about the grassroots is that we are not looking to fight with them; we are looking for them to fight for us.

Braddock persevered though extremely tough times in the Great Depression and managed to overcome a number of obstacles placed in his way in his journey to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world. Sadly, many of the current Republican Party leaders have developed a reputation for crumbling in the face of the first sign of an obstacle in the form of media criticism. This fear of the media has been used as an excuse for damaging votes they have taken on illegal immigration, exploding deficits and debt, tax hikes, Obamacare, and the growing regulatory state. Being on the wrong side of the voters on these critical issues is a black flag to the grassroots and is equivalent to being on the wrong side of a characteristic we all see as salutary, perseverance.

The grassroots is looking for people to lead who, like Braddock, are tough and are willing to persevere in the face of adversity because they believe in a cause greater than simple political expediency. The DC insider class should be willing to take the tough votes knowing that principles matter to people living outside of the Beltway cocoon.

I am not naive enough to ignore the short-term consequences for principled perseverance, and for being on the right side of principled votes in the face of a media firestorm. But, if being principled were easy then everyone would act that way and we wouldn’t be in the troubling predicament we are in. We need leaders now, not tomorrow. Braddock became the stuff of legends not because of his skills, but because of his character. Maybe politicians concerned with their political “skills” and getting re-elected could take a lesson from Braddock and worry more about their character instead. That would truly be a game changer.

Mitt Romney’s Shocking Statement About Blacks

Katie Couric: “You said if you were to have run this time [for president] it would have been a very different campaign, how so? How would it be different this time?”

Mitt Romney:

“I would spend a great deal of time taking my message to Hispanic Americans and to other minority groups in this country, African Americans, Asian Americans and describing why it is that conservative principles are best for them and for their families, that’s something I wish I would have spent a lot more time doing…

We would have taken ad dollars as well and responded to some of the attacks that came our way, some of them by the way were below the belt…there were things that were said in some of the ads that came against us in Hispanic media but also in English media that were not accurate and we should have fought back harder against those things, and shut them down and made it loud and clear that those things were wrong….but I will be talking with our nominee about the mistakes I made and suggesting things that he or she ought do differently than I did…. but the real thing that I wish I had done differently is make a greater effort at communicating to minority voters in this country the policies that I think are right to help minority families and that’s without question the biggest mistake I made in the campaign.”

The above exchange was taken from an interview Katie Couric, of Yahoo News, recently did with former presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Over the past two years, America has begun to see the Mitt Romney that should have been shown during the 2012 elections. If the “real” Romney was shown, he would be president right now.

I was very critical of Romney’s 2012 campaign for president in my columns. I criticized his campaign for the dearth of Blacks on staff. The couple of Blacks they finally added to the campaign were totally in over their heads. They did more damage than good. They had no authority, power, or connection to the Black community.

Blacks are totally disillusioned with Obama and the Democratic Party. Blacks are begging the Republican Party to give them a reason to vote Republican in the next election. Philosophically the Republican Party is in synch with the Black community on issues like family values, traditional marriage, lower taxes, education, and entrepreneurship.

Blacks simply don’t believe the Republican Party want them involved in their party, philosophy notwithstanding. Republicans are horrible when it comes to messaging toward the Black community. The biggest shock in Romney’s interview was that he would have spent money in Black media if he had decided to run again.

To this day, none of the would be Republican presidential candidates have any Blacks on staff, as a consultant, or as an advisor. They all “talk” diversity, but it is never backed up by their actions. It’s not enough to go to a Black university, with an all-White staff, and lecture students about Civil Rights.

I have had the privilege of spending some intimate time with Romney at the Utah home of our good mutual friends Scott & Karen Keller. Romney is one of the most decent people you will ever meet. With his recent TV appearances, America is even beginning to see that Romney has a great sense of humor to go along with all of his intellect.

Right before the eyes of the American people Romney is metamorphosing from a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. He is becoming an elder statesman within the party. Quietly as it’s kept, there are many people from all levels of the party seeking Romney out for his guidance and counsel.

If all those would be Republican presidential candidates are smart, they would heed Romney’s advice regarding the Black community. They should hire “real” Blacks for their staff now; not Blacks who want to remain invisible or have disdain for their own community (ala Obama). They should fully utilize the Black press—there are 205 Black owned newspapers in the U.S.

How can anyone take a Republican seriously about wanting to be president in 2016 when his staff looks like 1916? I have made a commitment not to vote, give money to, or raise money for any Republican candidate whose staff doesn’t reflect America.

And to Romney, it’s not too late for you to engage with the Black community. The Black community is open to the message you have to share, especially regarding entrepreneurship.

The poet George Bernard Shaw once stated, “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

So, to Mitt Romney I say, please be “unreasonable” enough to join me in my 25 year battle to make our Republican Party look like America.

This Is America! Act Like It

THIS IS AMERICA! This was the mantra of generations after the establishment of the United States of America. Our history shows that this nation was built with grit, toughness, a do it yourself and a get it done attitude. Sure, like any other great or not so great society in history, our nation made mistakes. We were not and are not perfect.

However, there is no argument that this nation, the one that history will forever remember, was made great simply because people were proud to be human. Proud to be children of God. Proud to be Americans.

When the nation was threatened, the people rose up to the challenge and shouted, This Is America! And they would not give up or give in to anything but complete and total victory.

This attitude was instilled in their children. The children instilled this attitude within their children. Those whom we called legal immigrants instilled this attitude into their children and indeed they often admonished their children for not acting, being more American.

They were proud and grateful to the new country they now called home. They, too, stood up and shouted, This Is America when they were challenged by outside threat. They, too, picked up arms and joined the army and navy and fought along with natural born citizens. They fought to insure their posterity had a better life, more opportunity than they did. They did not give up nor did they give in.

It was an attitude that spurred fear into our enemies and emboldened all those who wished to live as Americans lived. America inspired others to rise up against tyranny within their own nations. When they could not fight, America gave them grit and purpose to make the often dangerous and deadly journey to this land of freedom and opportunity.

People of far off lands created and shared legends about America. “In America, the streets are paved with gold.” Although our streets were not literally paved in gold, they were not wrong in stating such. Indeed, our streets were paved with the gold that is opportunity and freedom. It is a priceless treasure.

I long to hear the shouts and cries in the streets, This Is America. I fight and work tirelessly to get a chorus of voices shouting, This Is America. I impatiently wait for the flag of our nation to be flown high and proud on every home, every business. To be worn with pride on every shirt. No apologies. No wimpery. No weakness. No retreat.

This Is America! And Americans need to be reminded to act like it.
