Is the Pope Stalling Sainthood For Chinese Anti-Communist?

Some Catholic leaders believe Pope Francis is stalling the beatification of Chinese Catholic hero Ignatius Kung Pin-mei due to “diplomatic sensitivity,” according to Breitbart News.

Revered as a hero of the Christian resistance by Chinese Catholics, Kung was the Bishop of Shanghai who was arrested by the communist regime in 1955 and jailed for 30 years for refusing to renounce his loyalty to Rome.

“Pushing for Cardinal Kung’s beatification is a waste of time, and the Vatican would not accept it,” said Cardinal Joseph Zen, the former bishop of Hong Kong. Zen believes the Vatican is delaying the beatification process because it does not want to offend China: “How can the Vatican ignore his cause of beatification following Chinese authorities?”

“The Chinese government does not like Cardinal Kung, and therefore there is no public Mass for him,” said Father Zhu Lide, who was also imprisoned by the Chinese communists for 27 years. “His is a revered name for all Catholics but a prohibited one now in China.”

Because of the Coronavirus, Borders Suddenly Matter: New York State even establishes internal borders.

There is a Yiddish expression that translated states, “Man makes plans and God laughs.”  In other words, for all of the hubris of the human species, things do not always go as planned.  Circumstances beyond human control can easily obliterate the best laid plans.

Scientists currently believe that the mighty dinosaurs that inhabited the earth for millions of years were suddenly rendered extinct when an asteroid slammed into what is now the Yucatan Peninsula, roughly 65 million years ago.

Literally overnight the world changed and the mighty dinosaurs were wiped off the face of the earth.  Some disappeared entirely and others, it is believed, morphed into other creatures such as birds.

The stage was thus set for the rise of the mammals and, ultimately the human species.

We can hope that today another drastic event, the sudden appearance of the coronavirus (COVID-19)  will lead to the extinction of another species- the globalists and lead to a resurgence of leaders who, not unlike President Trump, believe in the value of national sovereignty, not just for the United States but all countries.

Greed-driven globalists have, for decades, demanded a borderless world insisting, “Borders, we don’t need no stinking borders” (slightly misquoting the famous line from the old film “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.”)

The globalists, driven by greed and unbridled hunger for power concluded that in a world without borders, workers could be moved around the world, not unlike chess pieces on a huge chessboard to drive down wages.  Merchandise could be moved around the world without tariffs, without any obstructions and as a consequence, the super wealthy could become even wealthier while the middle class would be relegated to museums that display extinct species.

Proponents of this transformation claimed it would lead to “The New World Order.”

In reality it would lead to nothing short of tyranny.

Borders are our nation’s first line of defense and last line of defense, yet you would never know it if you listened to the speeches and accusation hurled with rancor by the globalists.  The Democrats who used to support immigration law enforcement and the securing of America’s borders against the illegal and un-inspected entry of cargo and people have done a total reversal and now call for the end of immigration law enforcement.

In my previous article for FrontPage Magazine, Comprehensive Immigration Reform Should be Renamed the “Overwhelm America Act” I provided a direct quote from Bernie Sanders who, in 2007 proclaimed:

I think as you’ve heard today, sanctions against employers who employ illegal immigrants is virtually nonexistent. Our border is very porous.”“And I think at a time when the middle class is shrinking, the last thing we need is to bring over in a period of years, millions of people into this country who are prepared to lower wages for American workers.

None of the “journalists” who are covering the Democratic presidential primaries, who have become the masters of ambush or “gotcha” interviews, have ever confronted Sanders about his reversal on this extremely critical issue.

Did Bernie simply accept bribes from his “campaign contributors” who want the end of border and immigration law enforcement?  Alternatively, and more likely, has he and his Communist fellow traveler Democrats decided that the destruction of America’s middle class would propel millions of desperate Americans to the Left to seek financial assistance as they lose their jobs to foreign workers or, at a minimum, face massive wage suppression or even wage reduction making ever increasing numbers of Americans dependent on government subsidies offered by the increasingly radicalized Democratic Party?

Perhaps it is a combination of both.

New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo has come to vilify ICE (Immigration and Customs Agents), referring to them as thugs.  New York State recently enacted the “Green Light Law” that blocks federal immigration law enforcement agencies from having access to DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) databases.

As I noted in my recent article, this lunacy is a gift to criminals and terrorists that would keep on giving while undermining public safety and national security.

The purpose for imprisoning law violators is to punish those who commit crimes, to deter others who might consider committing similar crimes and to protect potential victims of criminals.  In essence, you could say that prisons quarantine sociopaths from society.

Increasingly, however, the Left has sought to turn criminals into the victims and have enacted measures that result in violent thugs and gang members being turned loose and back onto the street where they can continue to ply their criminal “trades.”

As a consequence innocent people have been injured and killed in the name of “Social Justice.”

Deportation of criminal aliens can help to address the perennial problem of recidivism when prisons fail to live up to their lofty and optimistic goals of being “correctional institutions.”

However “Sanctuary Cities” and “Sanctuary States” refuse to cooperate with ICE and infuriatingly, innocent people have again paid the price, all too often, the ultimate price, for this lunacy.

Now, however, in the wake of the emergence of the coronavirus countries around the world are suddenly attempting to secure their borders to prevent infected people from entering.  Following President Trump’s lead countries around the world are imposing entry restrictions on aliens who seek entry but have recently been in countries where the coronavirus is present.

While it is likely that the coronavirus will move around the world whether or not such measures are imposed, the idea is to slow the spread of the virus so that hospitals and medical resources can deal with the onslaught of patients without being overwhelmed in a short period of time.

This sensible strategy can, and hopefully, will save many lives around the world.

What is truly incredible, is that because of the virus, New York’s Governor Cuomo has established a Containment Zone around hard-hit New Rochelle in an effort to prevent the virus from spreading outward from this community.  In essence, he has established a border around this town in an effort to quarantine the residents who live here.

It is also worth noting that as I wrote in an earlier article, The Coronavirus and China’s Travel Ban:

Indeed, on January 24, 2020, New Jersey Senator Bob Melendez posted a news release on his official website, “Booker, Menendez demand coronavirus screenings at Newark airport as illness spreads.”

The inspections process is conducted at ports of entry by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to prevent the entry of aliens who pose a threat to public health, public safety, national security and the hence the lives and livelihoods of American and lawful immigrants.

A section of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S. Code § 1182 enumerates the categories of aliens who are statutorily ineligible to enter the United States and makes it clear that our immigration laws have nothing to do with bigotry, racism and xenophobia, but everything to do with protecting America and Americans.

Yet Cuomo and other radical Democrats are determined to undermine and thwart the efforts ICE and CBP, two component agencies of the Department of Homeland Security, to protect America and Americans.

Sanctuary policies and the obstruction of immigration law enforcement must suffer the fate of the dinosaurs and be rendered extinct- the sooner the better.

Muslim Stabs Four Random People. But Relax, Cops Say ‘Zero Evidence’ It’s Terror-Related

It’s funny how so many Muslims with “mental health issues” go on stabbing sprees, but shhhh – you’re not supposed to notice that. My latest in FrontPage:

It is insufficiently understood how much Leftist willful ignorance regarding the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat deform our response to it; a recent incident in Australia shows yet again how dangerous this denial really is. The Age reported Thursday that a man named Mohammad Ibrahim “stabbed four people, killing two, in random, ‘senseless’ attacks across the city’s inner-east.” But there’s nothing whatsoever to be concerned about: “Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir said there was ‘zero evidence’ to suggest the attacks were terrorism related. Ibrahim had no criminal history and was estranged from the mother of his child.”

It may be that these attacks were not terrorism related. But the fact that Ibrahim had no criminal history establishes nothing. There was a point in every jihad terrorist’s life when he had no criminal history.

Likewise, the fact that Ibrahim was estranged from the mother of his child also establishes nothing about whether or not his attacks were terrorism related. Many men are estranged from the mothers of their children and yet do not go on stabbing sprees of random people. Some men also are jihad terrorists and are simultaneously estranged from the mothers of their children.

The perspicacious Commissioner Weir continued: “There’s nothing to indicate at this early stage that this is anything other than a random act of senseless violence.”

Maybe there isn’t. But the Islamic State issued this call in September 2014: “So O muwahhid, do not let this battle pass you by wherever you may be. You must strike the soldiers, patrons, and troops of the tawaghit. Strike their police, security, and intelligence members, as well as their treacherous agents. Destroy their beds. Embitter their lives for them and busy them with themselves. If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be….If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him.”

Now Commissioner Weir may be right: that call or something like may not have had anything to do with Ibrahim’s actions. But what if it did? In that case, how would what he did look any different from a “random act of senseless violence”? If his stabbings of random people were an act of jihad, as we have seen so very many times before, Ibrahim wouldn’t be carrying an ISIS membership card. He need not have had contact with any ISIS members to have heard about that call and decided to heed it.

The Age added: “Police revealed Ibrahim spoke to them in 2018 about his concerns that IS operatives from Mildura were out to kill him. He wasn’t taken in for an assessment at the time but was flagged on the police system as potentially having a mental health issue.”

Maybe Mohammad Ibrahim does have a mental health issue. But the fact that he thought that the Islamic State was out to get him does not in itself prove that he is some “moderate” who would never undertake violent jihad himself. And no one ever seems to ponder why it is that so many Muslims with mental health issues somehow get the idea that stabbing random non-Muslims on the street is the thing to do. To consider such a question, of course, would be “Islamophobic” on its face, and “Islamophobia” is the one vice that law enforcement and intelligence officials are determined to avoid at all costs.

Has the whole world lost the ability to think clearly? Will this incident be investigated properly, with examination of all contingencies? Almost certainly not. Today’s political and cultural climate, not just in Australia but all over what has up until recently been known as the “free world,” makes that virtually impossible.

VIDEO: On Guns, Joe Biden is Full of It

Presumptive Democratic 2020 Presidential Nominee Joe Biden is not one for clarity, tact, or a firm grasp of the facts. However, even an American public that has long been aware of his shortcomings was taken aback this week when the former vice president launched an unhinged attack on a pro-Second Amendment auto worker. Aside from further exposing a waning control of his faculties, the exchange revealed Biden’s deep antipathy towards the Second Amendment, his profound ignorance on the firearms issue, and his willingness to lie for political advantage.

The verbal dispute occurred on Tuesday as Biden toured a Fiat Chrysler plant in Michigan as the state was holding its primary. As Biden made his rounds, auto worker Jerry Wayne went up to the presidential candidate and asked him about his position on the Second Amendment. Speaking with Fox News’s Fox and Friends the following day, Wayne explained that he “asked [Biden] how he wanted to get the vote of the working man when a lot of us, we wield arms. We bear arms and we like to do that. And if he wants to give us work and take our guns, I don’t see how he is going to get the same vote.”

Wayne told Biden, “You’re actively trying to end our Second Amendment right and take our guns,” to which a visibly agitated Biden responded, “You’re full of **it.” Following Biden’s use of profanity, a female Biden staffer attempted to quell the confrontation. Biden responded by shushing the assistant.

Biden then claimed that he supports the Second Amendment, providing as evidence his ownership of 12 and 20-gauge shotguns. An angry Biden then professed “I’m not taking your gun away” and denied ever having said that he would take guns away. Wayne responded that there was video of Biden expressing his desire to take guns, to which the candidate responded with a denial.

At that point Biden thought it appropriate to point a finger in Wayne’s face and clarify that he was going to “take your AR-14s away.” The befuddled politician presumably was referring to America’s most popular rifle, the AR-15. When Wayne protested Biden pointing a finger in his face, a now irate Biden challenged the auto worker to a fight, telling him “Don’t tell me that, pal, or I’m going to go outside with you’re a**.”

Demonstrating a firmer grasp on U.S. civics than the Syracuse Law graduate*, Wayne responded to the unhinged “public servant” by saying “You’re working for me, man.” Continuing his profanity-laced tirade, Biden responded with, “I’m not working for you. Don’t be such a horse’s a**.”

Confused, Biden then appeared to conflate commonly-owned semi-automatic rifles with machineguns. Wayne was then forced to explain to the former vice president the difference between semi-automatic and automatic firearms. An addled Biden then shouted “Do you need 100 rounds? Do you need 100 rounds?” before wandering off.

Describing the interaction for Fox News, Wayne recalled that Biden “kind of just went off the deep end.”

That is an understatement.

Joe Biden does not support the Second Amendment

Biden continues to boast about his role as lead sponsor on the Senate crime bill that contained the 1994 Clinton ban on commonly-owned semiautomatic firearms and magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. The ban was allowed to expire in 2004 after a federally-funded study determined that “the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.” Despite this record of failure, in 2007 Sen. Biden introduced S.2237. This legislation would have reinstated the so-called “assault weapons” ban.

At present, Biden’s campaign website touts his plan for a more restrictive ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms and magazines. Further, while attending a private $500 a person fundraiser in November, Biden revealed his intent to ban 9mm pistols. According to an article from the Seattle Times, while at the soiree, the 77-year-old asked attendees “Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds?”

The U.S. Supreme Court has made clear that the Second Amendment prohibits the gun bans Biden advocates.

In the landmark Second Amendment case District of Columbia v. Heller, the Court concluded that the types of firearms protected by the Second Amendment include those “in common use at the time” for “lawful purposes like self-defense.” The AR-15, which it appears Biden was attempting to cite in his most recent anti-gun rant, is the most popular rifle in America and therefore undoubtedly “in common use” and protected by the Second Amendment.

In 2015, Heller decision author Justice Antonin Scalia reiterated that the Second Amendment and Heller preclude so-called “assault weapons” bans when he signed onto a dissent from the denial of certiorari in Friedman v. Highland Park. In the dissent, Justice Clarence Thomas explained,

Roughly five million Americans own AR-style semiautomatic rifles [with many millions more owning them in 2020]. The overwhelming majority of citizens who own and use such rifles do so for lawful purposes, including self-defense and target shooting. Under our precedents, that is all that is needed for citizens to have a right under the Second Amendment to keep such weapons.

In targeting 9mm pistols, Biden has called for a ban on one of the most popular firearms in America. According to ATF’s Firearms Commerce in the United States FY 2019, there were over 3.6 million pistols manufactured in the U.S. in 2017. This was more than 1 million more guns than the next most popular category of firearms, rifles. Further, over 3.2 million handguns (including revolvers) were imported in to the U.S. in 2017.

In its annual report on the U.S. firearms industry, Shooting Industry reported that 9mm caliber pistols are the most commonly produced pistol and have been for many years. In 2017 alone, there were more than 1.7 million 9mm pistols produced in the U.S. Cumulatively there are tens of millions of 9mm pistols in the hands of law-abiding Americans.

As with so many anti-gun politician, when Biden claims to support the Second Amendment he is not being honest.

Joe Biden wants to take your guns

At a campaign rally in Dallas on the Monday before the Super Tuesday primaries, failed U.S. senate and presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke endorsed Biden for president. Sharing the stage with his former rival, Biden stated, “I want to make something clear. I’m going to guarantee you this is not the last you’ll see of this guy.” Biden went on say, “You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort. I’m counting on ya.”

Following the campaign event, Biden and O’Rourke went to local burger chain Whataburger, where the septuagenarian continued to heap praise on the former manny’s anti-gun advocacy. Speaking about Beto and gun control, Biden stated, “This guy changed the face of what we’re dealing with regarding guns, assault weapons… and I just want to warn [Beto’s wife] that if I win I’m coming for him.”

By offering Beto a role on guns in a potential future administration, Biden has made clear that he supports Beto’s gun control position. That position is gun confiscation.

During the September 12, 2019 Democratic debate, Beto O’Rourke was asked about his proposal to confiscate commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms. Beto responded in part by saying, “hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.” The Beto campaign would go on to sell t-shirts with the anti-gun slogan.

Less than a week later, Beto reiterated his call for gun confiscation on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time. During an interview, Chris Cuomo asked Beto, “All right, so let’s state the proposition. Are you, in fact, in favor of gun confiscation?” Beto responded with “Yes.”

There can be no doubt that Biden understands Beto would confiscate firearms, as he shared the debate stage with him on September 12.

Moreover, Biden himself has stated that he intends to take firearms. Biden had the following exchange with CNN’s Anderson Cooper when asked about firearm confiscation during an August 5, 2019 interview.

Cooper: So, to gun owners out there who say well a Biden administration means they are going to come for my guns.

Biden: Bingo! You’re right if you have an assault weapon. 

Biden must think he can get away with lying to Second Amendment-supporting working people. In the friendly confines of a CNN interview, Biden is more than happy to admit his gun confiscation plans. However, put him in front of a group of workers and he tries to hide his radical anti-gun agenda.

Thanks to autoworker Jerry Wayne, Biden wasn’t able to get away with it this time. Wayne was correct to ask Biden about his history of attacking the Second Amendment and support for firearms confiscation. Biden, on the other hand, was full of it.

Tucker Carlson: Shutting Down Economy Poses ‘Its Own Kind Of Public Health Risk’ [Video]

Fox News host Tucker Carlson struck a balanced approach between epidemiologists who would argue for shutting everything down to fight the coronavirus pandemic and those concerned that an economic recession and even depression could pose “its own kind of public health risk.”

Acknowledging the “major threat to the country” that coronavirus poses, Carlson pointed out the fact that there is “no clear consensus on how the country should respond.”

WATCH:

“That should not surprise you,” said the Fox News host on Monday night’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “People of good faith are working toward a couple of different goals tonight which at times collide with one another.”

While the “first obligation” is always public safety and should be accomplished if possible, Carlson pointed out that protecting the economy should also be considered.

“At the same time though, we need to protect our economy, and it’s not just something that Wall Street cares about, to be totally clear,” he said. “Economic decline is dangerous for everyone, especially at the bottom of the economy. It’s a legitimate human concern. It’s not just financial, it’s about families.”

The “two imperatives” can “often conflict,” the Fox News host contended. “So if you ask an epidemiologist what we ought to do next, the answer is simple: shut it down, close every public space until the virus passes.”

“From a public health standpoint, that makes sense, but what would be the consequences of doing that?” he asked. “Millions and millions of people would lose their jobs, some of them for good. We would enter a severe recession with mass unemployment and it could get worse from there. It’s not a joke, that could happen. You would see an awful lot of people in poverty in middle America and that poses its own kind of public health risk. Poor countries are never healthy countries. If you want great health care, you’ve got to pay for it and you have to have money to do so.”

Any proper response “requires balance” and is a “complex question” with “no obvious answers.”

Later in the monologue, Carlson warned against printing cheap money and eventually entering a situation where the U.S. “becomes Zimbabwe.”

“It’s missing the point anyway,” he said. “The real imperative is saving jobs. For government bureaucrats and administrators and corporate H.R. directors, a month out of the office constitutes a vacation, but for the classes below, it could be the beginning of a long spiral, a real one. Of waiters, bartenders, retail workers, huge parts of the service industry on which we are dependent could see their income dropped to zero and not come back.”

Carlson called the “guaranteed basic income” proposed by Utah Sen. Mitt Romney a “well-meaning” idea but in actuality “decadent and foolish.”

“Name a place that’s become happier and more prosperous under a scheme like that,” he said before lauding the German system that allows employers to place their workers on “reduced hours” with the government making up the difference.

Andrew Gillum Entering Rehab After Miami Hotel Meth Incident

Failed Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum revealed on Sunday that he is entering rehab after being discovered last week in a Miami hotel room with a male escort and bags of meth, naked and too drunk to explain himself to police officers.

Gillum, who claimed he had merely drunk too much at a friend’s wedding earlier in the day, said in a statement Sunday night that the incident was “a wake-up call for me” and that he had decided, after conversations with his family and deep reflection, to seek help in rehab.

“Since my race for governor ended, I fell into a depression that has led to alcohol abuse,” he said, pledging to work to “heal fully and show up in the world as a more complete person. I want to apologize to my family, friends and the people of Florida who have supported me and put their faith in me over the years.”

If Gillum, who is married with three children, comes out as gay in light of this incident, he will be celebrated and exonerated by the left, though he will have destroyed the lives of his wife and children in the process.

“If it bleeds, it leads” appears to reflect the morbidity of the news conglomerations. This quote has been around for over thirty years.  New York Magazine ran an article in 1989 titled “Grins, Gore, and Videotape – The Trouble with Local TV News” by journalist Eric Pooley. Pooley was angry about the quality of the stories being published locally and the sheer volume of stories whose subject matter was grim and menacing.  Pooley said, “The thoughtful report is buried because sensational stories must launch the broadcast: If it bleeds, it leads.”

The media in and of itself is a physical manifestation of our primal desires and fears, and they take great joy in using it for their own political purposes.  Most likely, the populace is the very cause of the demand.  Ever notice the number of rubbernecking motorists who slowdown in order to see something on the other side of a road or highway, often the scene of a traffic accident.  It’s the same thing with this Covid-19 outbreak.  If it bleeds, it leads…and they are doing their best to panic America.

This virus is about making sure the Democrats and their comrades in the mainstream media destroy Trump’s magnificent economy and the stock market (which has to do with the virus, and also with oil which the media is not reporting).

If people suffer and small businesses close, they don’t give a damn.  Covid-19 is two-fold…decimating the economy and killing off the elderly who are considered “useless eaters” by globalist elitists and UN Agenda 2030.

Harvard and Wuhan

Dr. Charles Lieber, 60, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University was arrested in late January.  Lieber served as the Principal Investigator of the Lieber Research Group at Harvard University, which specialized in the area of nanoscience, and has received more than $15 million in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DOD).  These grants require the disclosure of significant foreign financial conflicts of interest, including financial support from foreign governments or foreign entities.

Unbeknownst to Harvard University beginning in 2011, Lieber became a “Strategic Scientist” at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China and was a contractual participant in China’s Thousand Talents Plan (TTP) from in or about 2012 to 2017.  It is once again about spying and intellectual property theft.

WUT paid Lieber $50,000 USD per month, living expenses of up to 1,000,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately $158,000 USD at the time) and awarded him more than $1.5 million to establish a research lab at WUT.  In return, Lieber was obligated to work for WUT “not less than nine months a year” by “declaring international cooperation projects, cultivating young teachers and PhD students, organizing international conference[s], applying for patents and publishing articles in the name of WUT.”

U.S. officials say TTP encourages economic espionage and theft of intellectual property, the issue at the heart of President Trump’s trade war with China. They also argue that China’s so-called military-civil fusion strategy—in which the government employs resources, technologies, and people to advance both sectors simultaneously, elevates the threat.

Lieber had to pay a $1 million cash bond within five days of walking out of federal court for not telling the feds he was working for and being paid by China.

It was the Clinton-Gore team who compromised national security for campaign cash from none other than Communist China.  They sold our country’s security to Communist Red China for funds to remain in power.

World Health Organization

WHO Director declares Covid-19 a pandemic (a disease prevalent over a whole country or the world) and claims the death rate is higher than thought.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, former Obama administration health policy adviser who promoted Obamacare’s “death panels,” is the current special adviser to the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Emanuel says he found Trump’s statements on Covid-19 a little incoherent.  Well excuse the daylights out of me, but Dr. Ezekiel, you are the one who is incoherent and deliberately obtrusive.  Trump speaks plainly and clearly and tweets to his supporters daily.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is an Ethiopian politician and academic who has been Director-General of WHO since 2017.  Tedros is another hardcore leftist and is credited by abortion advocates with liberalizing Ethiopia’s abortion laws.  In early 2017, he attended the Dutch “She Decides” conference, organized in opposition to President Trump’s expanded Mexico City Policy blocking U.S. funds to international abortion groups.  Link

Dr. Tedros seems to be inflating the number of deaths to fulfill the scare tactics of our democratic socialists rather than looking at the real numbers, and President Trump is disputing the inflated numbers.  The mortality rates vary from country to country depending on the host country’s elderly population and their healthcare system.  The virus is normally less deadly than Sars or Mers, but more highly contagious.

Infectious Disease Research

In late 2015, an infectious-disease researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, published a study on his team’s efforts to engineer a virus with the surface protein of the SHC014 coronavirus, found in horseshoe bats in China. It is a SARS like virus that affects the respiratory system. The research was done in order to help combat animal to human spread of viruses.  The NIH defunded the UNC research although Obama had approved numerous grants for same.

Netflix produced a 2019 docuseries, “The Next Pandemic.”  In the episode, Bill Gates warned that a pandemic was on the horizon and pushed for funding saying it takes years to find a cure for a new viral outbreak.  Link

The biotech Moderna said it is working with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a coronavirus vaccine.  The effort is funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, a group started by Norway and India, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and announced in 2017 at the World Economic Forum.

There are 19 different Coronaviruses.  Depending on your health and your age, the Covid-19 virus affects everyone differently.  Some folks don’t even know they’ve had it or their cases are extremely mild, and others are desperately ill and struggle to breathe.

Fear, Hysteria and Panic

Was Covid-19 created in one of Wuhan’s biolabs?  The anomalies of this virus, lead me to believe it is manmade. Unlike flu viruses that often kill the young and elderly, this virus attacks the elderly and those with infirmities like heart disease, lung disease or diabetes.

The origin is Wuhan, but China is blaming America, and Iran is blaming Israel for Covid-19.  And now China is hinting at withholding drugs that help with the virus.  In 2000, under Bill Clinton’s administration, China was given entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) and granted “Most Favored Nation” status. We have suffered the consequences in many ways, and Covid-19 has exposed the danger of relying on China for our drugs.

Taking the same precautions as during the flu seasons will keep most people healthy.  The media has created an environment of fear to where everything is being cancelled or shut down including conventions, schools, universities, travels, sporting events, concerts, medical facilities, churches, movies, and jobs.  Mainstream media spreads fear 24/7.  Even the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in my hometown of Chicago where the Chicago River is dyed green, has been postponed.

And now, the governors of Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, California, Massachusetts and Washington have ordered all bars and restaurants closed.  Idiocy reigns, and businesses are destroyed.

New York Governor Cuomo has actually announced the deployment of New York’s National Guard and the creation of a “Containment Zone” in a one square mile section of New Rochelle that is the epicenter of New York State’s outbreak.  The National Guard has been called out in five more states, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Rhode Island, and Washington.

In Champaign, Illinois, home of the University of Illinois, an executive order has given the Mayor of that city the ability to suspend all firearm and ammunition sales, and allows her to restrict the sale and distribution of food and water as well as taking the title to private property.  As of yet, there are no Covid-19 cases in Champaign, and this EO has not been used, but it’s on the books and dangerous to freedom.

In Cliff Kincaid’s recent article, he wrote, “The President has another option: put the military in charge of the coronavirus response and move quickly to a war footing with Communist China.”

These military ideas are extremely dangerous.  The Posse Comitatus Act (1878) prohibited use of the U.S. Army to aid civil officials in enforcing the law or suppressing civil disorder unless expressly ordered to do so by the president.

Emergency Declaration

President Trump declared the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, a United States federal law designed to bring an orderly and systemic means of federal natural disaster assistance for state and local governments in carrying out their responsibilities to aid citizens during natural disasters.  This emergency declaration frees up $50 billion for use during this virus. There have been 59 other declarations, including one for H1N1 influenza by President Obama.

The government/media now controls you and everything about your life. Mass shut downs have occurred for fear of contracting this new respiratory flu virus.  Overnight our freedoms have been limited, all because mainstream media is selling panic.  We now have mass hysteria over a virus whose survival rates are extremely high.

H1N1 Flu Pandemic – 2010

Never before with all the deadly viruses that have killed far more Americans has the entire country shut down.  And why has this virus depleted grocery store resources including meats, canned goods, toilet paper, soaps, disinfectants, etc. My local meat market was nearly sold out, and Sam’s shelves were emptied of all paper products and now police are guarding the place.  How easily the media has molded the minds of Americans into a frenzied hysteria.

Remember the H1N1 swine flu pandemic of 2010?  Probably not…because there was no media panic. Why?  Because Obama was in charge and the media exalted and lauded him. They praised the handling of a virus far more virulent and deadly than Covid-19.  H1N1 infected 61 million Americans, 300,000 were hospitalized and the flu killed 17,000 Americans, including 1,800 children.  It affected young adults and children.  Yet the weaponization and politization of the Wuhan virus has received 10,000 times the media coverage H1N1 received. Yes folks, it’s all politics.

Covid-19 affects the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, but we don’t have 17,000 people dead in America from Covid-19.  According to Johns Hopkins, 70,000 people have recovered from the virus. Yet, everyone now thinks they have the virus if they catch a common cold or this year’s flu.  There are differences!

Covid-19 v. Truth

Don’t panic!  The media is selling lies for one reason only…to destroy the economy and President Trump. The real mortality rate is under one percent, and the true case fatality rate of this virus is likely to be far lower than current reports suggest. Even some lower estimates, such as the one percent death rate recently mentioned by the directors of the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, likely substantially overstate the case.  The arithmetic of Covid-19 death rates is totally misleading.

A recent Gateway Pundit article states, “The US has reported 68 deaths to date.”  Sharyl Attkisson writes, “Almost all of the reported coronavirus deaths in the U.S. happened in long-term care facilities in Washington State. And almost all of those occurred at the same facility.”

No young or middle-aged people have died of Covid-19 in the U.S and most people around the world diagnosed from January-March 1, have already recovered. Attkisson notes that the average age of deaths from the coronavirus in the US is 80 years old, (and that’s with immune system deficiencies).

As the Gateway Pundit reported earlier, according to CDC numbers, in the 2019-2020 flu season in the US, there were 222,000 confirmed cases of the flu from testing and an estimated 36 million flu cases in the United States. There were 22,000 confirmed deaths from the flu.

There are so many lies by mainstream media regarding this virus, that have been debunked by solid medical authorities.  The two articles by Chris Centeno, MD, entitled Why I Am Not Concerned About the Coronavirus – Episode 1 and Coronavirus Myths Debunked – Episode 2 are well worth your time to read.

Jim O’Neill’s latest article links to what Dr. Drew Pinsky has been saying about the media and panic…it too is well worth the read.  In two separate interviews, Dr. Drew Pinsky, M.D., said the liberal media are “over-reacting” to coronavirus and selling out America; they do not know how to report on it, and have created a “hysteria.” The “press needs to shut up,” he said, adding that the measures taken by President Trump, the CDC, and Dr. Anthony Fauci are “appropriate” and should be heeded.

The numbers make the current responses by government officials, communities and companies appear highly exaggerated.

Conclusion

Every year we lose approximately 30,000 people to flu, but we go on with our lives.  We didn’t bring everything to a screeching halt with swine flu, and the deaths from Covid-19 are miniscule compared to a normal flu season.  Stop the panic…go back to your lives, wash your hands, don’t be in crowds, and this too shall pass when warm weather arrives.

The democrat socialists don’t care about deaths of our elderly, or the murders of our unborn innocent young…but if there is one politician in America today who actually does care about the American people, it’s Donald Trump.

And you can see it every day simply from the policies that he tries to implement, the policies that he supports, the agenda that he has implemented. He’s all about making America great, not about making Trump great. And the left doesn’t get that he loves all Americans so dearly and completely that he wants to enrich their lives.  They are blinded in their hatred of a great leader.

The biothreat of China is accomplishing all the goals of Trump’s enemies.  You think America’s commie left and Red Chinese didn’t get together to do this?  It came from China and who do you think has been warning us about the Chicoms?  Donald J. Trump!

PODCAST: Trump Quarantines Abortion Money in Virus Bill

While lots of Americans are hunkered down at home, the U.S. Senate is holed up in its offices — waiting for a crack at the House’s coronavirus bill. And while there’s a lot of uncertainty about what’s actually in the package, Republican leaders won’t have to contend with at least one thing: abortion funding.

The version that passed Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) chamber in the wee hours of Saturday morning wasn’t what the House majority was hoping for. After word leaked out that Democrats had tried to tack on a secret slush fund for abortion, even MSNBC couldn’t hide its shock. “What does that have to do with COVID-19?” host Joy Reid asked. What indeed, Senator Ben Sasse (R-Nebr.) argued. With schools closing and most every gathering postponed, he couldn’t believe that Pelosi’s priority was getting more money in the hands of people who take life, not treat it. “Speaker Pelosi should be fighting the coronavirus pandemic, not politicizing emergency funding by fighting against the bipartisan Hyde Amendment,” he insisted. “We need to be ramping up our diagnostic testing, not waging culture wars at the behest of Planned Parenthood. Good grief.”

When the White House got wind of the Democrats’ plan, President Trump wasted no time warning House leaders what would happen to the bill if it got to him with that language: Absolutely nothing. Keeping a promise he made at the March for Life in 2019, the administration made it crystal clear that he wouldn’t allow Pelosi to hijack the crisis with her radical plans to overthrow the Hyde amendment. Emergency or no emergency. “As the House conducts its business,” the president wrote in a shot across the bow last January, “I urge that it respect and continue these other important pro-life protections… I will veto any legislation that weakens current pro-life federal policies or laws — or that encourages the destruction of innocent human life at any stage.”

The pressure worked. By the time the House voted, the language that would have compromised the Hyde amendment was gone. In an interview on “Washington Watch” last Friday, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) cheered the administration’s stand but warned that Congress still isn’t out of the woods yet. “They removed the anti-Hyde amendment provision. So we got that back and protected the unborn, at least… [But] we have to be vigilant — that’s for sure… [There are] provisions that have nothing to do with the coronavirus basically being thrown into this thing. And that’s just par for the course for the activist Left.”

Like a lot of Republicans, he also urged caution on a bill of this magnitude. “It’s a far-reaching and expansive and bill on spending,” Congressman Biggs explained, and although both chambers are doing their best to work quickly, there are still very serious legislative landmines. “Panic is no friend to sound policymaking,” NRO pointed out. As important as it is to combat the virus, it’s just as important to make sure America isn’t ravaged by Congress’s solutions. Right now, neither side of the aisle can even put a price tag on the bill — because no one can predict how widespread the pandemic will be.

“Most of the measures in this [plan] are something that the senators support,” Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) agreed. But there are concerns just the same — for small businesses, certainly, and the U.S. deficit. “Many of the 40 House Republicans who opposed the measure Saturday morning complained that they only had a few minutes to read the bill text,” Fox News’s Chad Pegram writes. “And, to this point, no one truly knows the cost of the measure. It’s anywhere from tens of billions of dollars to the hundreds of billions of dollars.” For Congress, it’s a delicate balance. As much as everyone wants to help the economy, conservatives understand: we can’t afford to create more permanent spending programs and entitlements.

Hopefully, a number of these concerns will be sorted out by the Republican Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has promised to work quickly but thoughtfully. In the end, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) advised, Congress needs to “approach this with a level head and pass a bill that does more good than harm.” It would be better to pass nothing, he said, than to rush through anything that could haunt us later on.

New Primary Polls: Biden Predicted To Win Easily In Florida, Illinois And Ohio; Sanders Voters Reeling

Latest ROI Rocket polls have Biden up over Sanders by 40% in Florida, 27% in Ohio and 24% in Illinois.

DENVER/PRNewswire/ — According to new surveys from ROI Rocket, a leading providing of market research-based consulting, former vice president Joe Biden is poised to win the three largest states holding primaries tomorrow by substantial margins. These polls project Biden will outperform Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) by about 67% to 27% in Florida, 61% to 33% in Ohio and 57% to 34% in Illinois. The estimated margins of victory in these races are well above the error rates associated with the results, though potential responses to the coronavirus epidemic may impact these numbers, particularly if older voters stay home in large numbers.

After breaking out of the pack on Super Tuesday, Biden has only increased his delegate lead, winning five out of six contests in last week’s primaries. The situation has left many Sanders supporters wondering where to throw their support. At present, across Florida, Ohio and Illinois, about 22% of Sanders supporters say they’re likely to vote for someone other than Biden or decline to vote altogether.

At the same time, support for Biden continues to be decidedly lackluster. There’s comparatively little enthusiasm for the candidate and he’s yet to make a strong emotional connection with many Democratic primary voters. Taken together, disaffection among Sanders supporters and broad but shallow support for Biden cast serious doubt on the Democratic Party’s chances of taking the White House in November.

State-specific Details

Florida: Only about 61% of Biden’s supporters are enthusiastic while just 53% feel an emotional connection. About 21% of Sanders supporters say they won’t vote for Biden in November—6% say they’ll vote for Trump, 8% for a third party and 7% will stay home.

Ohio: Only 48% of Biden’s supporters are enthusiastic and about two-in-five (40%) feel an emotional connection. As for Sanders supporters, about 28% say they won’t vote for Biden in November, 6% say they’ll vote for Trump, 14% for a third party and 8% will stay home.

Illinois: Significantly less than half of Biden voters (about 41%) are enthusiastic supporters and only 39% feel an emotional connection. If Biden is the nominee, about 7% of Sanders supporters say they’ll vote for Trump, 11% for a third party and 5% won’t vote at all.

This research was fielded from March 6 – 12, 2020. To qualify for this study, respondents were required to be registered voters likely to vote in the 2020 presidential election. Sample collection was balanced to state-specific U.S. Census numbers for gender, age, ethnicity and urban/suburban/rural residency. In addition, we also established minimum quotas based on party identification to ensure reliable sub-group analyses.

In addition, appropriate weights have been applied based on U.S. Census figures for state population, gender and age, along with party membership.

House Democrats: Let Convicted Terrorists Work for the TSA!

This was utterly predictable in today’s atmosphere of leftist insanity, but it’s appalling nonetheless. As the sage Joe Biden would say, Look, Fat, look, here’s the deal: I’ve been warning for years that it would sooner or later become “Islamophobic” to offer even the mildest opposition to jihad violence and that the “Islamophobia” mongers would become increasingly open about their support for jihad terrorists, and here we are. On Thursday, 174 Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against an amendment to the Rights for Transportation Security Officers Act that would prevent the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from hiring convicted terrorists.

Yes, that’s right: if these House Democrats had gotten their way, on your next flight, you could have gotten a pat-down from a TSA agent who previously conspired to down the airplane you were planning to fly on. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) explained that the amendment “was pulled back by leadership because the socialist wing of the party did not want to have that amendment go forward on this bill. When it was offered, overwhelmingly the majority of the House would like to see the TSA not hire terrorists or those who have been convicted of sexual misconduct with minors and others. But the socialist wing of the party, that controls now the Democratic Party, said that that could not be offered.”

However, as these prospective TSA employees might have said, Allahu akbar! The whole thing exploded in their faces: enough Republicans and renegade Democrats voted for the amendment to pass it. But among the luminaries who thought it so important to avoid even the appearance of “Islamophobia” that they opposed an amendment barring terrorists from pawing through your belongings as you made your way through security were the infamous “Squad,” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D, Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.), and Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.), along with the supposedly sane and responsible House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D., Md.).

The TSA has always been more security theatre than actual security, but that’s beside the point here: AOC, Omar, Tlaib, and the 171 other House Democrats who opposed this measure didn’t vote against it because it would be ineffective, but clearly because it would offend a key portion of their constituency, which for most, if not all, Democrats today consists of people who believe that terrorists are victims, that American imperialism is the real problem, and that Donald Trump is “racist” for wanting to protect Americans from jihad terror attacks by foreign nationals coming from the countries included in his travel ban and from violent crimes by illegal aliens coming into the country from Mexico.

The Trump Administration is leading an “all-of-America” approach, as Vice President Mike Pence calls it, to protect Americans during the global Coronavirus outbreak.

“Last week, at this table, the President met with pharmaceutical leaders, we met with nursing home leaders, leaders of commercial labs, airline industries,” Vice President Pence said. “We’re bringing all of the businesses of the country to bear to protect the health of the American people.”

Earlier today, President Trump and the Vice President met with executives from America’s largest health insurance companies, where they announced a major deal.

Vice President Pence: We are defending all patients against surprise billing

“I’m pleased to report, as you requested, Mr. President, that all the insurance companies here—either today or before today—have agreed to waive all copays on coronavirus testing and extend coverage for coronavirus treatment in all of their benefit plans,” the Vice President said.

Medicare and Medicaid announced recently that beneficiaries will have Coronavirus testing and treatment covered. Now, private insurers have made that commitment, as well.

Insurers also agreed to cover telemedicine services, which will allow all patients—particularly among the vulnerable senior population—to be treated without feeling the need to go to a hospital or doctor’s office.

After sitting down with insurance leaders at the White House, the President traveled to Capitol Hill this afternoon, where he and Vice President Pence met with lawmakers. “We just had a meeting on stimulus, and you’ll be hearing about it soon. But it was a great meeting,” President Trump said.

He also had one important message for Americans during this time: We’re prepared.

“Everybody has to be vigilant and has to be careful. But be calm,” the President said. Thanks to early preventative measures by the Administration, as well as the strong fundamentals in our economy and job market, America is in great shape to weather any storm.

Through personal conversations, and by listening to statements from politicians (federal, state, local, and international) and media pundits, it is apparent that very few people, if any, are prepared to think through the implications and consequences of what we are facing today.  The purpose of this article is to provide some context, insight, and – modestly – foresight into the current crisis created by the coronavirus (aka Covid-19, aka the Wuhan virus).

The next two to three months will be a period that we have to go through all together, and will come out on the other end changed.  This applies to us individually as well as to various facets of our society – commercially, politically, culturally, and financially.

Safety First

Let’s start with the obvious: to slow and finally contain the spread of the virus, there is no alternative to total lockdown.  We must isolate ourselves as much as practically possible.  Although the virus is most lethal in the elderly population (80+), any person regardless of age can contract and transmit the virus.  Therefore, people of all ages are equal opportunity vectors.  Lockdown measures have been applied in China, Italy, and Spain, and will almost definitely be used throughout Europe and the United States within the next few days.

What does that look like?  In Italy, for example, you are not allowed to travel outside your zone unless you have written form permission.  The list of exceptions is limited: for example, if you have an elderly relative to visit, if your job requires your physical presence (hospitals, delivery services, supermarkets, pharmacies), or your role in society is essential to keeping order (e.g., law enforcement) or ensuring survival (food and pharmaceutical production and distribution).  Police checkpoints enforce the rules; violators are fined, potentially jailed, and (if not jailed) sent back to their zones.

Locking down the United States for a period of two to three months (following the example of China and others) presents a unique set of challenges.  Each state will likely implement their own protocols.  The specific measures may reach down to the county level, with discretion given to police departments or sheriffs.  Specifics will be negotiated, or are more likely already negotiated, between parties at the governmental and corporate level.  The United States is leveraging contingency plans we all wish we never had to use.  The private sector will play an active role in distribution and planning: Walmart and CVS, and surely others, will serve as distribution points.  Google is assisting with the testing website.  Insurance companies will pay for the tests, as their contribution to the effort.  Pharmaceutical companies are working in concert to develop a vaccine.  More on vaccines later.

Logistics become the primary economic challenge.  Movement is very limited.  Schools and many businesses must temporarily be closed.  The National Guard may be used to distribute food and other vital supplies, and to help enforce the rules.

If this sounds Draconian, consider that the last time the United States government took comparable sweeping actions for any extended period of time (for a completely different reason) was during World War II.  (The same, incidentally, can be said for Italy, France, U.K., etc.)  But given the risk to the whole US, and global, population there is no absolutely reasonable alternative.  The implications that result from our almost definite future – lockdown – are sprawling and profound.

The Economy

The stock market is basically a predictive engine. Since concern about the virus has proliferated, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down from an all-time historic high of 29,568 to 23,85 (6,382 points down).  That’s a 21.5% economic drop already (from what we once expected).  For many investors, especially savers, this probably means a mainly paper loss.  But it is useful information because it provides a barometer of what we should expect.

Disruptions in travel and supply chains mean lost opportunities and lost revenues.  Business plans for the next 9-12 months will all need to be entirely reevaluated, and many postponed until it is possible to end isolation.  Restaurants and other small businesses face a strong threat of bankruptcy.  More on the travel industries later.

In Israel, which has a mandatory two-week quarantine for anyone (including citizens) entering the country, the airline El Al has told 75% of their staff to stay home.  It is not unreasonable to expect all major airlines to be in a similar position shortly.  Eventually, even though these measures are temporary, they have real economic consequences down to the employee and family level.  We suspect that two things will occur: the government will make low or no interest loans available, sustaining the majority of businesses through the period.  And businesses, with their bottom lines chopped, will use it as a pretext for retiring some “dead wood.”  Nice or not, that’s how things often work in the real world today.

Further economic relief will likely come in the form of tax breaks, tax deferments, and, as already announced, elimination of interest on student loans (expect other loans to be added to that list where and when possible). The Fed just cut interest rates to between 0.00-0.25%.  They did this in coordination with their international counterparts.  What effect will this have on credit card or mortgage debt – of an individual or business – with a 20% or 6% loan?  What will be acceptable rates in today’s situation?

All of these government tools, along with the equally complex situation in the financial markets, need to be thought through by officials and their private sector counterparts, and come to an agreement to put in to practice.  This all takes time, and no doubt these discussions are ongoing right now.

Once the crisis has ended, our entire approach to pandemics, in the United States and globally, will be (better be) overhauled.  The US dependence Chinese on manufacturing for our pharmaceuticals and other critical medical supplies will come into sharp relief, and the American pullback will have further economic consequences, as countries around the world reevaluate their dependence on China.  Reverberations will be felt for years, if not decades.

Hopefully, part of our future vigilance will be proactive development of vaccines against particularly virulent virus types.  On the hope for a coronavirus vaccine, it is a solution for a future date.  Let’s assume that one was discovered today.  We would still need to manufacture hundreds of millions of doses, and then deliver those injections to hundreds of millions of people.  If we really want to solve the problem, taking into account the global population, we need to inject billions.

So, to reiterate: for our immediate future, the vaccine and talk of one is irrelevant.  Let that continue in the background among the experts.  Today’s situation will be controlled without a vaccine, i.e. through 0lockdown and self-isolation, or it will not be controlled or solved at all.

Politics and International

Internationally, going forward leaders will have to be ready for pandemic control.  The WHO’s broad failure should result in dramatic and lasting changes.  Each country will certainly have to rewrite their pandemic playbooks.  A few days ago, the European Council President and European Commission President scolded President Trump for not consulting him before enacting the travel ban with Europe.  This is unhelpful and unserious: no country should ever ask permission to protect its own people.  The ban is for Schengen area due to lack of borders, so it was banned as a whole (including Switzerland).

A word on politicians: Every mayor, governor, president (etc.) is taking advice from their experts in this area.  President Trump, for example, is not setting policy based on politics but on scientific advice from the government’s top epidemiologists and infectious disease doctors.  CDC, HHS, and their partners are running the show now.  The President has to coordinate the entire effort, but in terms of the containing the disease the professional bureaucrats rule the day.  Let them, for they know best.

President Trump’s efforts have, at times, felt frustratingly slow.  As Americans, we assume that our government had the ability to test all of us in the event of a pandemic.  We now know this was not true.  They are developing, on the fly, a new system that should have been thought of and implemented 10, 20, or just 3 years ago.

It’s easy to say “we should have been prepared.”  Hindsight it always 20/20.  Although our response feels bumbling, it is equally true that the knowledge that something like this could happen with a coronavirus has been known to the scientific community for decades.  Although this may be the “novel coronavirus,” coronaviruses and their treat to human life is anything but novel.  We, as societies, are now exposed as negligent to prevent, detect, and vaccinate against such diseases.  Who do we blame for that?  The “experts?”  Sure.  But also get a mirror.  (We will, too.)

For Trump’s part, we can only offer this prognosis: he must embrace this challenge, or he will fail to be reelected.  From the outset his presidency has never sought to be at war; he has fought to end our foreign military presence across the globe.  His focus was always economic and cultural.  In this moment, however, we are on a wartime footing and must be prepared to stop the virus.  The economy will suffer, obviously, but wartime leaders who guide their people through incredible hardships are, in history, the most beloved ones.  (How popular is Calvin Coolidge today compared to FDR?)  We believe that President Donald J. Trump has strength, fortitude, and an exceptional, professional team around him to rise to the unforeseen and incredible occasion.  It’s a hell of a way to finish a first term, which will decide not only November but also the fate of hundreds of millions, nationally and internationally.
