In April 1777, sixteen-year-old Sybil Ludington was at her home in eastern New York when British soldiers raided Danbury, across the border in Connecticut. Sybil’s father was Colonel Henry Ludington, commander of the local militia. A messenger arrived at the Ludington home about 9 p.m. to alert the colonel to the raid.
Sybil became known as the female Paul Revere and one of the most important women of the revolutionary war.
She was honored by a postage stamp and a large bronze statue in Carmel, New York, near her childhood. Beside capturing or destroying a large amount of military supplies, the British were ranging the countryside, burning the homes of patriots. Col. Ludington began to organize the militia, but he needed to send word to scattered homesteads. The messenger who had arrived was unfamiliar with the territory, so Sybil volunteered.
She rode more than forty miles through the dark and rain, dodging British patrols, avoiding known Loyalists, and spreading the alarm to her father’s men. The militiamen were able to mount an attack on the retreating enemy.
Sixteen year old Sybil Luddington was a hero of the Revolutionary War. As revolution number two shapes up, we could learn some lessons from our ancestors.

It’s a good thing for many Church leaders that there isn’t a bishops’ primary going on right now.
As the primary season continues to play out, the sense of outrage continues to increase. The burning cause of all this anger is the sense of betrayal felt by authentic Republicans — and by “authentic,” we mean pro-life and pro-conservative fiscal types. That was the image, at least, that was portrayed of the GOP by the GOP during the Reagan era: lower taxes, better economic might and a leadership faithful to God and appointing judges protective of the unborn. There would be no common ground sought after or found with liberal tax-and-spend, anti-life Democrats.
On the Republican side. true conservatives feel betrayed. So we reached out to some true conservatives on this week’s “Mic’d Up”: Ambassador Alan Keyes, journalist Ben Shapiro and popular blogger Matt Walsh to have them gauge the anger and outrage on the conservative side.
The “no compromise” image of the past has gone bye-bye. The current-day reality? A leadership content to let those authentic Republicans die on the vine as they lead their party more and more to the left. Why are GOP leaders becoming more and more liberal — certainly on values issues and more often than not economic issues as well?
Because they sense the center-left tilt of the country. The country is more and more comfortable with sexual immorality, abortion, divorce and remarriage; you name it, they’re pretty much down with it. And they don’t want to lose their power, so they go along with the voters.
Republican leadership seems to have taken a page out of the U.S. bishops’ playbook. And the way there are huge numbers of disaffected GOP voters, there is an equal if not greater intensity in various Catholic quarters owing to the same sense of betrayal. Faithful U.S. Catholics are feeling lied to, mistrusting of their bishops, and are growing more and more fed up with what they see as a sellout of the Faith on the part of the leadership.
What we see with shrinking minorities in both theologically orthodox and politically conservative circles is a parallel track of justified anger. Faithful Catholics are fed up with the constant compromise on the part of the leaders with the secular culture, liberal Protestantism, socialist-minded politicians largely centered in the Democratic Party and its allied institutions. They feel betrayed time and time again by an out-of-touch collection of bishops comprised part 25 percent liberal and 75 percent wimp.
On the political side of the fence, a rebellion broke out, which was quickly subdued, called the Tea Party. That was the warning shot that political conservatives fired at leaders six years ago. Now it has re-appeared in the form of an all-out revolution that will see anti-establishment Trump or Cruz seize the nomination while leaders plot and scheme a way to make sure that doesn’t happen. Good luck with that.
In the Church, things don’t work quite that way. We are hierarchical, not democratic. However, for leaders to think that the equivalent of a Catholic underground Tea Party has not and is not forming would be a huge miscalculation. A resistance movement is finding its footing among faithful Catholics — and it is long overdue.
Catholics were raised to trust their leaders, as we would hope we could, but a clericalism abused that hope and trust, and now what we are left with is the abysmal situation of not being able to trust anything that is said. This encourages within any bishops an immediate irritation when faithful Catholics demand accountability, feeling as though they don’t have to be accountable to anyone.
We are at an almost unbelievable impasse in the Church these days, and the only way to solve it is for the bishops to understand that the faithful laity are deeply wounded, hurt and disenfranchised. They are deeply suspicious of almost anything the bishops do or say.
This is why media apostolates like ours and others have arisen from seemingly nowhere. It’s why more and more Catholics have turned to parish shopping, starting their own schools or home-schooling, abandoning the LAtin rite and attending at other rites, dropping out of the mainstream Catholic life and becoming more “Tea Party” minded in their thinking and analysis.
This is a situation that the US bishops need to step up and admit and own.
They need to publicly disavow the wickedness and ignorance of previous bishops and their ill-fated decisions and do a major course correction.
Like republican leadership, Church leadership has spent entirely too much time stoning the sheep while making nice nice with the wolves.
It’s a good thing for many Church leaders that there isn’t a Bishop’s primary going on right now.

Trudeau justified his decision to restore the citizenship to a convicted Canadian terrorist who ripped up his passport by saying that the policy of the previous Conservative government created two-tier citizenship, In which citizens who have dual citizenship may lose their citizenship if they are convicted of terrorism, treason, espionage or fighting against Canadian forces.

“One of the key elements of that [opposing the proposed Quebec Charter of Values] and a point that I am so incredibly proud of Canadians is a moment in our election campaign where the governing Conservatives put forward a proposal to strip and actually [they] enacted it before the election to remove the citizenship from Canadian citizens convicted of terrorism, dual citizens in this case, which quite frankly they thought it is a great idea because here they were, these are people convicted of terrorism against our country or acts of war against our country and they are therefore forfeiting the right to be citizens which seems like a reasonable thing, again. On a front.
“But when you actually look at it and realize that means that someone convicted of terrorism with a dual citizenship could have different consequences under the law than a Canadian homegrown terrorist who has Canadian citizenship and is a six generation Canadian and therefore can’t have his citizenship removed at all.
“You devalue the citizenship of everyone by making it conditional on good behaviour or non heinous behaviour which is ultimately the same thing.
“So, I found my self in a situation on stage against the former Prime Minister [Stephen Harper] arguing that, yes, a man who he [Harper] had just stripped his citizenship of for being convicted of a terrorist act should have his Canadian citizenship restored even though he had literally, perhaps even literally, ripped up his Canadian passport. And yet I stand here as a Prime Minister of Canada.

Recently the House Judiciary Committee passed HR 3892 that would declare the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), something Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and even Syria have already done. This would allow the bill to come to the floor for a vote.
Even contemplating the passage of it gives the well-informed American a reason to hope that there still might be some sign of life left in the bodies of those occupying political office in Washington D.C. The positives of passing this bill are innumerable, and the negatives are like finding someone without an opinion on Donald Trump…there simply are none.
The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 in Cairo, Egypt by Hassan al Banna. According toShariah The Threat to America, the organization had two main goals,
“…to implement Shariah worldwide, and to re-establish the imperial Islamic state (Caliphate).”
So, ISIS has the same stated goal as the Muslim Brotherhood, but they just go about arriving at that goal by using different techniques. The MB in America are civil in their terrorism.
There is abundant information in the 21 page bill that displays facts about the organization so, why has the State Department been derelict in their duties to the American people in using their authority to fight terrorism not only abroad, but here at home?
Why does it take an act of Congress to get the Department of State to do its job in the first place? The mission of the Department of State is stated on their website:
“Today, the primary responsibility of the U.S. Department of State and its employees is to fight terrorism, protect U.S. interests abroad, and implement foreign policy initiatives while building a freer, prosperous and secure world.”
Countries that espouse the Shariah like Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, Iran, and others are not described as free, prosperous and void of terrorism, yet the State Department has overlooked the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood. It allows their members not only to operate in so-called “civil-rights” groups like CAIR, but also to have influence directing our national foreign policy by employing them in top positions of the Department of Homeland Security, Obama advisors, and envoys to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
If the bill passes, we could look forward to flushing out those MB members involved in the Obama administration. In addition, the majority of radical Mosques in this country would either be shuttered and their Imams deported or prosecuted and put behind bars where they belong.
The author of Muslim Mafia, Dave Gaubatz, a former federal special agent and distinguished military veteran, has been rating Mosques across the country as to their likelihood of having a member who will commit a jihadi attack within our country. One in particular is the Islamic Da’wah Center of Fort Walton Beach, Florida which rated a 9 out of 10 for likely involvement in jihad. Gaubatz found manuals in the church that advocate:
“Sedition and treason against America
Killing anyone who they determine to oppose their goals
Child marriages
Slavery
Abuse and rape of girls and women”
And those are just a sampling of Islamic materials within the Islamic Center. The reports among the locals reeks of incredulity at Gaubatz’s predictions, and as is becoming common with many journalists, don’t state the facts,
Interestingly, the Islamic Society of Boston, the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, and the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix all produced jihadists who committed terrorist attacks on our soil. Those aren’t the only ones either, just a sampling. Chances are great that if you look in the background of any of our “homegrown” terrorists you will find a Mosque involved. The majority of these mosques, some 80% are said to be Sunni and more likely to be connected with the MB.
It certainly doesn’t sound like all the books in the Islamic Da’wah Center are manuals teaching peace. Maybe local residents would consider the probability that mosques have a direct tie with terrorism if the State Department declares the MB as an FTO.
Those living in the Fort Walton Beach area, as well as the rest of the country, may want to contact their legislators in regards to the upcoming vote on the Muslim Brotherhood designation as terrorists. If it passes then America can rid this country of those wishing to destroy it either from the halls of the White House or out of the inner chambers of the mosques.

The birth control pill, since being approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, has become the weapon of choice against conception. Among American women who use contraceptives, 28 percent use the Pill — the single most popular form. And when you drill down into the numbers, American Catholic women — they use the Pill at just about the same rate as their non-Catholic counterparts.
The Pill has become a part of the American and Western world landscape, all in an effort to simply have sexual license and consequence-free sex. And thanks to Obamacare, the pill now has an enshrined place in law. Employers must provide the Pill for their employees through company health insurance plans or face fines and penalties.
The only exceptions to this are religious employers, but exactly who qualifies for that limited definition of “religious” is what the U.S. Supreme Court will be hearing arguments on and deciding in a short while.
What is known is that the Pill comes with all kinds of hidden dangers and side-effects, and no one really wants to talk about them.
We know its death-dealing spiritually. We know that its death-dealing biologically for the unborn — not just preventing conception, but also causing the newly conceived to actually be killed. Estimations are that the 60 million deaths in the United States caused by surgical abortion since 1973 pale in comparison to the deaths brought about by the birth control pill.
Moreover, women themselves are in lethal danger, however limited that may be. The question which logically arises is: Is a life of sexual license really worth your life? Unfortunately, we know that for many “liberated” women, the answer is yes, it is.
But what is perhaps most shocking in all this is the silence of the bishops on this matter of the birth control pill. For a gang of men who are constantly going on about the need to avert the dangers of fake, manmade climate change to simply fall silent on the very real deaths of tens of millions of small humans owing to the birth control pill has no explanation.
They will not support Church teaching on contraception, certainly not enough to voice their support for it and declare the evils – spiritual and physical — of the birth control pill is contributing to that evil. What is most frightening for the souls of the bishops who have made a career of keeping silent in the face of evil is the peril their own souls are in.
Their job is to teach, and through that teaching sanctify their sheep so that their souls can be saved. Short of doing their job, they are on the path to eternal damnation. But a bishop’s being damned — what a horrible thought — is nothing new. We have Judas as the first example; but we even have St. John Chrysostom warning that bishops not doing their job is their eternal undoing.
Why do the bishops not do what they are supposed to do? Where is their fear of God? Their silence imperils the souls of tens of millions — and it absolutely falls to them to witness to the truths of the Church.
Contraception, the birth control pill — that little pill — who but the diabolical could imagine that that would be the undoing of so many bishops and the cause of their damnation?
The deadliness of the Pill is the subject of this week’s “Mic’d Up” that you can view by clicking the link. The birth control pill is the reason hundreds of parishes have and continue to be closed. It’s the reason vocations have dried up. The Pill has all but killed the Faith in the West, exactly as its inventors had hoped and planned. The Pill has brought nothing but death, and the guardians of life have refused to attack it — and their silence will bring them death in their turn.
A couple of years ago, while he was president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops, Cdl. Timothy Dolan was being interviewed by NBC and made the astonishing claim that, at the time, he had been a priest for 37 years and had almost never preached on the evil of contraception.
In a separate interview around the same time, again as leader of the U.S. bishops and speaking for them and himself, he said they had all grown “gun shy” about teaching on the issue of contraception and sexual immorality. Talk about condemned out of your own mouth.
