Tucker Carlson Declares Abortion a ‘Spiritual Battle’

Veteran reporter and cultural-cum-political commentator Tucker Carlson is declaring that the fight against abortion is in fact a matter of spiritual warfare. Speaking at a gala hosted by The Center for Christian Virtue last week in Cleveland, Carlson stated that abortion is not a “political debate” but a “spiritual battle.”

The ex-Fox News host said that for most of his life and career “the debates that we had in the political sphere were over competing visions for how to improve people’s lives.” Referring to debates over issues like minimum wage, Carlson said, “I was on one side of it, but I could also sort of see the other side. Both sides were at least pretending to try to improve the lives of the people who voted for them.” The prevalence of abortion as a political issue is, argued Carlson, a departure from the sort of debate he and much of America has long been accustomed to.

Carlson pointed to two Ohio ballot initiatives — one enshrining abortion in the state constitution and the other decriminalizing recreational drug use — that he found especially distressing and disturbing. He asked, “When you wind up in an election where the two top ballot initiatives are 1) encouraging people to kill their own kids and 2) encourage their kids to do drugs, who’s benefitting here?” He then extolled the joys of being a parent and raising a family, saying, “I’m serious. The one unalloyed source of joy in your life is your children, the point of life is to have children, and to watch them have grandchildren. Nothing will bring you joy like that will — nothing comes close, nothing comes close.” Carlson continued:

“So anyone telling you, ‘Don’t have children, kill your children,’ is not your friend, it’s your enemy. And by the way, it’s a very recognizable promise that they’re making to you, because it’s as old as time and it’s chronicled in great detail throughout the Hebrew Bible — it’s human sacrifice, which rears its head about every four chapters, and which is singled out for approbation every time. Of all the sins the ancient committed, that sin, every single time it’s described, is called detestable… Detestable. God singled that out.”

“Why were people doing that?” he asked. “Because, of course, they believed that they were getting power and contentment and happiness in return.” Carlson explained that child sacrifice was not a practice relegated to the Mayans or Aztecs but was practiced by practically every major civilization or peoples from antiquity. “Human sacrifice, the sacrifice of children, the killing of children is the one constant in human civilization.”

He continued to note that all these various ancient civilizations, spread across different regions and continents across the globe, all reached the same conclusion: that child sacrifice might provide happiness or safety. Carlson said that conclusion couldn’t be reached “organically,” pointing out that it contradicts evolutionary biology and the instinct to preserve and continue not just the species but the family.

So where did human sacrifice come from? “That’s an idea, an impulse that was introduced,” Carlson explained. “Outside forces are acting on people at all times throughout history in every culture on the planet to convince people that if they sacrifice their children they will be happy and safe.” He continued:

“And that’s exactly what this is. This is a religious rite. This is not a policy debate, they’re not telling you that some girl got raped at 13 and she needs to go to college and therefore, unfortunately, we need to abort the child. No. That was 20 years ago. Now they’re saying, ‘Abortion is itself a pathway to joy.’ Really? So this is not a political debate, this is a spiritual battle. There is no other conclusion.”

Addressing the other ballot initiative promoting recreational drug use, Carlson quipped, “Take more drugs and be happy? Right, okay.” He expounded that the results of that initiative would essentially zombify the population. “Less conscious, less aware, give your soul over, dull yourself, become a robot. Really? Those are the promises they’re making?”

The bulk of Carlson’s speech last week is reminiscent of a speech he delivered earlier this year at The Heritage Foundation’s 50th anniversary gala. In that speech, Carlson said that American debate used to center on differing policy plans for achieving what was generally an agreed-upon good outcome. But now, he said, “people … decide that the goal is to destroy things — destruction for its own sake — ‘Hey, let’s tear it down’ — what you’re watching is not a political movement, it’s evil.”

Referring to abortion, he reiterated that abortion advocates have gone from claiming that abortion is “sometimes necessary” to foaming at the mouth for abortion on demand anywhere, any time, for any reason. “If you’re telling me that abortion is a positive good … you’re arguing for child sacrifice.… That’s like an Aztec principle, actually.” He argued that the era of policy paper debates is over and America is now in a period of “theological” war. Days after delivering that speech, Carlson was removed from Fox News, reportedly because then-Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch thought the speech was too Christian and was unsettled by its theological overtones.

Last week, though, Carlson did more than just highlight the reality of America’s present spiritual war. He asked, “So how do you respond to this?” The answer, he suggested, is to remain courageous. Citing St. Paul as a hero of his, Carlson said:

“This is like the bravest guy ever. There’s not a letter he wrote where he didn’t have a sword hanging over his neck, he expected at any moment to be murdered, and I think the consensus among historians is, in the end he was. He was murdered. … But he lived with the certainty that he was going to be killed for his beliefs every day. And he was totally unbothered by it, completely. … He was never afraid.”

“And by the way,” Carlson asked, “why would he be afraid? He believed his fate was sealed. He was going to join Jesus. He was going to Heaven.” Carlson proclaimed that courage is the “marker” of the Christian faith, adding that if a Christian is afraid, then “you’re kind of not doing it right, are you? There’s no excuse for being afraid.” Whether facing the threat of a worldwide “pandemic” with a 99% survival rate or facing a firing squad for being a Christian, Carlson’s exhortation was clear: be not afraid.

‘Mountain Of Evidence’: Oversight Chair Comer Sets Stage For First Biden Impeachment Hearing

House Oversight and Government Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer will emphasize America’s desire for accountability during the first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden Thursday, according to an opening statement reviewed by the Daily Caller.

The House Oversight and Government Accountability Committee is set to hold a hearing Thursday regarding the value of an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden for his alleged involvement in an influence-peddling scheme connected to Hunter’s foreign business dealings. Comer will open the hearing, according to an opening statement reviewed by the Daily Caller, by detailing the committee’s past findings including that the Bidens and their associates have “created over 20 shell companies and raked in over $24 million dollars.”

“For years, President Biden has lied to the American people about his knowledge of and participation in his family’s corrupt business schemes,” the Kentucky Republican’s opening statement reads. “Evidence reveals that then-Vice President Joe Biden spoke, dined, and developed relationships with his family’s foreign business targets. These business targets include foreign oligarchs who sent millions of dollars to his family. It also includes a Chinese national who wired a quarter of a million dollars to his son.”

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy directed House Republicans in September to open a formal impeachment inquiry into Biden over his conduct as vice president. The House speaker first started weighing an impeachment inquiry in August over whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) used David Weiss’s position as special counsel to block or alter an investigation into Hunter Biden by the House Oversight Committee.

Hunter Biden pled not guilty to two tax misdemeanors in July after his diversion agreement and plea deal fell apart under the scrutiny of U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, which led to a disagreement between Hunter Biden’s legal team and the DOJ.

“To date, the House Oversight Committee has uncovered how the Bidens and their associates created over 20 shell companies and raked in over $24 million dollars,” Comer’s statement reads. “We’ve also identified nine members of the Biden family who have participated in or benefited from these business schemes. What were the Bidens selling to make all this money?”

“Joe Biden himself,” the statement continues.

The latest evidence in the Biden impeachment inquiry includes a Tuesday report from the committee that shows that Hunter Biden’s Chinese business associates sent the first son more than $250,000 worth of wires using Joe Biden’s Delaware home listed as the beneficiary address.

Hunter Biden was paid $10,000 by Chinese associate Wang Xin in July 2019 with another $250,000 being wired to Hunter by Johnathan Li, a different Chinese business associate, in August 2019, the House Oversight Committee found. President Joe Biden’s address in Wilmington, Delaware, is listed as the beneficiary for both of the 2019 wires.

“The American people demand accountability for this culture of corruption,” Comer’s opening statement reads. “They demand to know how these schemes have compromised President Biden and threaten our national security. They demand safeguards to be put in place to prevent public officials from selling access to their public office for private gain.”

James Comer Announces Subpoenas For Hunter And James Biden’s Bank Records

Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced Thursday he is issuing subpoenas for personal and business bank records from Hunter Biden and his uncle, James Biden.

Comer announced the new subpoenas at the conclusion of the first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden led by the House Oversight Committee.

“I want to thank the witnesses for their testimony today. It confirms the evidence compiled by this committee justifies the investigation of Joe Biden’s role in his family’s international business schemes and justifies the next step of this investigation,” Comer said in his closing statement.

“Therefore, today I will subpoena the bank records of Hunter Biden, James Biden and their affiliated companies,” Comer concluded.

Comer clarified during the hearing that the bank records already obtained by House Oversight came from suspicious activity reports sent by banks to the Treasury Department flagging the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.

The House Ways and Means, Judiciary and Oversight Committees are leading the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden related to Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and the IRS whistleblower testimony accusing the Department of Justice (DOJ) of giving Hunter Biden special treatment during its ongoing investigation into Biden’s alleged tax and gun offenses.

The chairmen of the three committees circulated a memo Wednesday showing the Biden family and its associates brought in more than $24 million from Ukraine, Russia, China, Romania and Kazakhstan from 2014-19 through a network of shell companies. Joe Biden’s false statements about his knowledge of his son’s business dealings and Hunter Biden’s business dealings with China were also included in the memo.

The House Ways and Means Committee released 700 pages of documents Wednesday substantiating IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler’s testimonies that DOJ investigators allegedly slow-walked and obstructed the Hunter Biden investigation.

Among the documents are text messages from Hunter Biden, a memo summarizing an interview with James Biden, internal DOJ correspondence, internal IRS documents, emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop archive, diagrams outlining Hunter Biden’s network of business entities and communications with Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.

Burisma paid Hunter Biden more than $80,000 per month to be a board member of the company despite his lack of experience with Ukrainian affairs and the energy industry, bank records indicate.

The House committees leading the impeachment inquiry continue to investigate the IRS whistleblower allegations alongside House Oversight’s investigation of the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.

Joe Biden Wouldn’t Need To Receive A Direct Payment To Be Found Guilty Of Accepting A Bribe, Legal Experts Say

  • Payments do not need to be paid directly to a public official to be considered a bribe, legal experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
  • “There are cases in which payments made to family members can be treated as bribery of the principle if he is aware of it,” Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz told the DCNF in August.
  • Former federal prosecutor and FBI consultant Joseph Moreno told the DCNF that federal law makes it a crime “for a public official to directly or indirectly receive something of value in return for being influenced in the performance of any official act.”

President Joe Biden could be found guilty of accepting a bribe based on payments given to family members, legal experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Democrats have largely objected to Republican’s investigation into Hunter Biden, as well as the newly-launched impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, on the basis that the president received no direct payments or benefit from his son’s business dealings and alleged influence peddling. Legal experts said this is misguided, noting foreign payments Hunter Biden received could implicate his father if a clear link were to be established.

“There are cases in which payments made to family members can be treated as bribery of the principle if he is aware of it,” Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz told the DCNF in August. When the House Oversight Committee released its third bank records memo in August on payments Hunter Biden received from foreign sources, Republicans argued payments need not be made “directly to the president to show corruption” because “the law recognizes payments to family members to corruptly influence others can constitute a bribe.”

The memo identified over $20 million in foreign payments to the Biden family and associates, including payments Hunter Biden received from Russian oligarch Elena Baturina, Ukrainian energy firm Burisma and Kazakh oligarch Kenes Rakishev, while Joe Biden was vice president. In response, White House spokesperson Ian Sams said the memo “doesn’t show anything about President Biden.”

Former federal prosecutor and FBI consultant Joseph Moreno told the DCNF that federal law makes it a crime “for a public official to directly or indirectly receive something of value in return for being influenced in the performance of any official act.” “So in establishing whether there was a quid pro quo, prosecutors would have to prove that something was demanded or received by a public official (including the President) in exchange for some official act (i.e., approving foreign aid, putting pressure on a foreign official),” he explained. “This can be done via a direct payment or gift to a public official, or an indirect one through, say, a family member or business associate.”

A payment accepted through a family member could also be relevant in an impeachment trial, where the standard leading to removing a president is easier to meet and does not “require a statutory violation,” he said. “Impeachment by the House (Art. I, Section 2) and trial by the Senate is for when a President commits ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanors,’ which is not a term defined in the Constitution but has largely been considered to be whatever Congress deems to be,” he said. “So if Congress wants to impeach and try President Biden for benefitting from improper payments received through his son or other family members, it is free to do so.”

Hunter Biden’s former business associate Devon Archer testified to the House Oversight Committee in July that the value of adding Hunter to Ukrainian energy company Burisma’s board was “the brand.” Additionally, he testified that Joe Biden spoke with his son’s business associates on more than 20 occasions. New documents released by the House Ways and Means Committee Wednesday show that Hunter referred to the Biden “brand” as his family’s “only asset” in a message to his uncle, James Biden.

The DOJ convicted the two sons of the ex-Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli in 2022 based on facts similar to those in Hunter Biden’s case, the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project noted in a tweet Thursday. The brothers used shell companies to receive a $28 million bribe for a relative, $19 million of which was transferred through U.S. banks, according to the DOJ.

During the impeachment hearing Thursday, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said arguments that the president must have received a direct payment in order for there to be a bribe are incorrect. “The courts actually have rejected that,” he said. “They said that money going to family members is, in fact, a benefit.” “This idea that you can have millions going to a politician’s family and that’s not a benefit, I think it’s pretty fallacious.”

Turley also said during the hearing that the House had passed the threshold for an impeachment inquiry but noted the current evidence does not yet support articles of impeachment. “The key here that the committee has to drill down on is whether they can establish a linkage with the influence peddling which is a form of corruption,” Turley said, according to The Hill.

The White House did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Hunter Called Biden ‘Brand’ His Family’s Only ‘Asset’, Message Shows

Hunter Biden referred to the Biden “brand” as his family’s “only asset” in a message released in new documents by the House Ways and Means Committee.

The House Ways and Means Committee released a 700-page report Wednesday containing documents to corroborate the testimony of IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who alleged that the Justice Department slow-walked the investigation into Hunter Biden and gave him “preferential treatment.” The younger Biden wrote in a June 6. 2017 message to James Biden, his uncle, that the Biden brand was his family’s only asset and called access to it as “the keys,” according to the report.

“Bull***t James – all around bull**t. Explain to me one thing Tony brings to MY table that I so desperately need that I’m willing to sign over my family’s brand and pretty much the rest of my business life?” the message reads, appearing to refer to his former business partner Tony Bobulisnki. “Read the f***ing documents people.”

“It’s plane f***ing English,” he wrote, according to the document. “Why in gods name would I give this marginal bully the keys my family’s only asset? Why?”

Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former business associate, testified to the House Oversight Committee in July that the value of adding Hunter to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma was “the brand” — then-Vice President Joe Biden. Archer also said Joe Biden spoke with his son’s business associates more than 20 times.

Joe Biden’s role in helping Hunter’s business dealings is central to House Republicans’ investigation, and resulting impeachment inquiry.

The documents released Wednesday also contain an email from Justin T. Cole, the Office of Communications Director for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), who said a CNN producer who reached out about the investigation had an email Hunter wrote stating he “expected all of this ‘stuff’ to go away when his dad becomes President.”

“This evidence makes clear Hunter Biden’s business was selling the Biden ‘brand’ and that access to the White House was his family’s most valuable asset – despite official claims otherwise,” House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith said in a statement.

The UK’s first womb transplant – what the media missed out

The first UK ‘womb transplant’, carried out by Richard Smith’s team in Oxford and announced at the end of August, understandably gained a lot of press coverage and was heralded by some as the ‘dawn of a new era’. In fact, the first uterus transplant was carried out in 2000 in Saudi Arabia in a 26-year-old woman who had to have the cadaveric transplant removed due to thrombosis 99 days later. Others have questioned how that particular procedure ever got through an ethics committee.

One of my lawyer colleagues remarked how little comment there has been, if any, about the ethical aspects of this first UK womb transplant and so wrote a helpful article on the topic herself.

There are several issues not raised in that article, however, that appear to have gone entirely without comment. The first relates to informed consent and the importance of receiving accurate information rather than skewed statistics.

In the case of wombs, a successful transplant is not saving a life, but ultimately about successfully gestating a healthy new life to the point of viability, despite the considerable risk to the recipient. In order to give valid consent, the chances of success of delivering a so-called ‘take home baby’ – of necessity via a Caesarean section followed by hysterectomy to avoid continuation of immunosuppressive medications – needs to be communicated accurately.

Dodgy statistics

Worldwide, with over 90 womb transplants carried out and 50 babies delivered, the success rate is in the order of 50 percent. In 2019, one US medical centre said a womb transplant was not worth the risk. However, some other clinics are putting out statistics of almost 80 percent success rates because they use the number of successful transplants, rather than the total number performed, as the denominator for calculating the rate. Thus, one clinic boasts a headline and opening paragraph as follows:

Uterus Transplant Team Has a Current Success Rate Close to 80%

As the publication shares, out of the 14 (out of 20) technically successful uterus transplants, there have been 12 successful live births, which gives us a success rate of 79%.

However, only 12 out of 20 transplants actually resulted in a baby. Sixty-two percent, though not really close to 80 percent at all, gives a far more accurate picture to those considering the procedure.

The second point not mentioned by the media concerns the fact that most of the world’s 100 or so uterine transplants have been from deceased donors. Consent for the deceased donation of organs considered routine for transplantation (such as heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, corneas, pancreas, and small bowel) is assumed in the UK unless the person concerned actively opts out.

Trans-plants

Although we are many years away from uterine transplants becoming routine, should they become so, they will be unique in that only biological females will be possible donors. Potential donors may regard a non-life (or non-sight) saving transplant in a different light from already well-established, routine transplants. Indeed, research will need to be carried out to ensure women are not deterred from donating other organs because of reservations they may have about uterine donation after death.

Usually, the recipient of a deceased donation cannot be specified by the donor. Still, if it does eventually become technically possible to transplant a uterus successfully into a biological male, many women may not wish to donate their wombs in such circumstances. This is a long way off, of course.

In response to questions, co-lead surgeon of the first UK transplant, Professor Richard Smith, said he thought this was decades away because it was technically more difficult due to ‘anatomical differences’ and other issues such as differing microbiomes in men and women. Nevertheless, if not given a choice to express a view on such a divisive issue, some women who might otherwise have elected to donate after death might opt out.

Finally, there is the high financial cost of uterus transplants and the question of who pays for them. The UK’s first womb transplant cost £25,000, even with the surgeons working pro bono, and was paid for by a charity. Is the NHS going to be able to afford the costs of such transplants into biological women with uterine factor infertility, let alone into biological men in whom the likelihood of a successful transplant (let alone the delivery of a healthy infant) is far more remote? Is this a justifiable use of public funding?

Truthfulness (Psalm 51:6) and justice (Micah 6:8) are important biblical ethical principles, and both are often absent in debates about fertility treatment more generally. Sadly, discussions – or lack of them – about uterine transplantation don’t look set to herald much change in that tendency.

Nonverts — The Attrition of America’s Churches

Nonverts: The Making of Ex-Christian America By Stephen Bullivant. Oxford University Press. 2022. 272 pages.

Professor Stephen Bullivant has established himself in recent years as an expert on religious disaffiliation among Catholics.

In Nonverts: The Making of Ex-Christian America, which came out in December 2022, the Director of the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society at St. Mary’s University widens his focus to look at the broader topic of America’s secularisation.

For years, we have heard stories about the rise of the ‘Nones,’ that large body of Americans – one in four adults, as Bullivant notes early on – who do not claim any religious affiliation.

In this book, Bullivant deals with the issue of those ‘nones’ who previously had a religious affiliation before ‘converting’ to nothing at all – the ‘nonverts’ as he calls them.

“Nonverts now make up 16% of the US population, with cradle nones adding a further 6%, for a combined total of 22%. Hence nonversion accounts for somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters of all US nones,” Bullivant writes.

Bullivant describes this overall shift by taking the reader on a tour of the major American religious traditions and introducing dozens of real-life nonverts who make for a diverse and compelling range of case studies.

All of the indications are that America is rapidly becoming more secular. Data from the General Social Survey in 2018 showed that a third of 18-to-29-year-olds said they had no religion. Three years later, that figure had increased to 44 percent.

Lack of enthusiasm for religious participation among the young points to a much more irreligious future, but what is more interesting is the declining rates of religious attachment being recorded across all age groups and religious denominations.

Leaving formal religion

Bullivant’s figures indicate that there are roughly 16 million American nonverts who were raised Catholic, and in a damning indictment of the Church’s effectiveness in religious formation, he notes that “[a]cross all US cradle Catholics born since 1970, a ‘Catholic upbringing’ has produced twice as many nones as it has weekly Mass-going Catholics.”

Mainline Protestant churches have been significantly impacted too, along with Evangelicals, and though Mormons are thought of as a group which has defied the secularist trend, Bullivant’s analysis of the available evidence suggests that a considerable portion of Mormons have also become nonverts.

One key insight from the stories told by the nonvert interviewees is that they share very little in common. This makes it hard to speak of this vast swathe of Americans as a coherent group.

Questions of religious belief are one obvious example of this. Americans nonverts, like Americans nones more generally, often remain believers.

“[O]nly one in three American nones are straightforward atheists or agnostics. And get this: 21% of nones told the GSS, ‘I believe in God and I have no doubt about it,’” Bullivant writes.

Time will tell if this remains the case, but it is doubtful that individual faith can remain strong in the long run when connections to communities based around a shared expression of that faith are severed.

America long lagged behind other advanced democracies when it came to the stubbornly high rates of churchgoing, and it seems natural that now that this is changing, there will eventually be a corresponding increase in the percentage of Americans who do not believe in God.

The political implications of this are hinted at but not elaborated upon within this short book. Nones are disproportionately likely to be Independents: adding credence to the view that the move away from organised religion is part of a broader decline of participatory social institutions.

Bullivant points to data cited by the statistician Ryan Burge that suggests that Joe Biden received the votes of 71 percent of America’s Nones in 2020. This strongly suggests that the secular America which is emerging will be one where the Republican Party finds it much more difficult to prevail in elections.

Lack of focus

America’s secularisation is probably the most consequential change which the country has been undergoing in recent decades, more important even than demographic changes.

Yet, it has been mostly ignored by many supposedly serious observers. Meanwhile, intellectually lazy explanations have been proposed, most of which centre around the alleged role of conservative Christians in turning people away from religion.

As a conservative-minded academic, Professor Bullivant is well-suited to challenging this thinking, and does so here.

While he agrees with others (including the author of the recently-published book, The Great Dechurching) that the ending of the Cold War eased the transition away from religious affiliation by reducing anti-atheist sentiment nationally, in other areas he breaks with the consensus.

He challenges simplistic claims about the politicisation of Christianity by pointing to the terminal decline being experienced by the mainline Protestant churches: many of which have adopted liberal views on sexual mores without managing to retain old members or to attract new ones.

A more interesting theory of his relates to the role of religious mission in a church’s success or failure.

While the Mormons continue to place evangelisation at the heart of their religion — and still try to ensure that every young Mormon has the ability to serve as a full-time missionary — this is a relatively unusual approach, and Bullivant writes that one early sign of the declining self-belief of mainline churches lies in how they long ago replaced ‘mission trips’ with humanitarian work.

He quotes the view of the well-known historian Rodney Stark, who argued that “[t]he liberal denominations stopped sending missionaries [in the traditional sense] because they lost their faith in the validity of Christianity.”

Lost faith in Christianity will continue to become more common in America, and is it any wonder that this process has unfolded at precisely the same time as many Americans have been losing their faith in their country and its political institutions?

Stephen Bullivant’s engaging writing style and clear thinking make him an essential voice in this area, and any reader wishing to understand what is happening in America should read this book closely.

Buyer’s remorse strikes Americans who voted for Biden

Anyone who has ever bought something only to hate it once they got it home is familiar with the concept of buyer’s remorse. Sadly, the regret felt after making a bad purchase also applies to the world of politics.

The difference is that politicians, once elected, cannot be returned for a refund. And the damage they inflict on their constituents or nation can linger on for years, long after they have left office. Which is why many American voters, when faced with the reality of the Biden Presidency, are now having second thoughts about voting the man into office.

Biden’s fast-sinking ship of state

Truth to be told, this process actually started fairly early on in his Presidency as shown by a series of Gallup polls, which show that, while Biden did initially enjoy a 56 percent approval rating generally (60 percent among younger voters), support for him quickly dropped so that by March 2022 his overall support had fallen by 14 percentage points to 42 percent. This drop was particularly worrisome in light of the even greater declines seen among some key demographics – namely, Millennials and Gen Z voters (down 19 and 21 percentage points respectively), African-Americans (down 21 points) and Hispanics (down 20 points).

Since that time, Biden’s approval rating has remained stuck at around the 40 percent mark, even dropping below that recently. While this is close to the level experienced by Presidents Trump and Obama at the same point in their Presidencies, there are a number of red flags unique to Biden. One is the steep decline in support seen among independents – which fell from 61 percent in January 2021 to 39 percent in August 2023. Another is the softness in support from young Hispanics and African-Americans. And then there is the ongoing flight of working-class voters to the Republicans.

Recent polls have been so dismal that even the usually Biden-friendly mainstream media have been forced to recognize the depth of voter discontent. The most recent example involved the ABC News/Washington Post poll released in late September. It found overall approval for Biden to be trailing disapproval by 19 points (37 percent approval versus 56 percent disapproval). To make things worse, his approval was lower (30 percent) when it came to the economy and lower still when it came to immigration (just 23 percent). The intensity of the disapproval felt by Americans was shown by the 45 percent of respondents who strongly disapproved of his performance compared to just 20 percent who approved strongly. And to cap things off the poll concluded that, were a Biden/Trump Presidential election held today, it would be a toss up – in spite of Trump’s many legal woes.

While this latter finding may seem implausible, there nevertheless are a number of trends that do seem to support it.

Declines in key demographics

One is the growing support for Trump among African-Americans and Hispanics. For in this poll Trump got the support of 20 percent of African-Americans and 42 percent of Hispanic votes – a significant increase from the 8 percent of African-American and 36 percent of Hispanic votes he got in the 2020 election. These numbers are particularly striking in the case of African-American voters, given that no Republican candidate in the last 50 years has gotten 20 percent of this group’s votes – the average for the period being just 9 percent.

Part of this may be explained by Trump’s personality, which some observers believe connects well with African American men – a hypothesis for which there is some evidences. For example, one Fox News poll examining attitudes toward the candidates running to become the Republican Presidential nominee found that 41 percent of non-white men had a favorable view of Trump – with 25 percent declaring themselves to be strongly favorable. (This contrasts with the 27 percent approval rating from non-white women who clearly were not as impressed by the man.)

But that’s only part of the story since almost all of the other candidates saw their favourability rating among African-American respondents stand at or above the 20 percent level. So, it’s clear that others things are likely at work here as well.

One such thing is a growing sense among some African-American voters – particularly the young – that their decades-long support for the Democratic Party has failed to pay the dividends they had expected. This was underlined by University of Chicago academic Cathy Cohen who stated, “we have a generation of young people who have seen up close the limits of electoral politics. They’ve seen the election of black mayors, they’ve seen the election of the first black president, and they’ve also seen that their lives have not changed.” A similar sentiment was reported by Reuters drawing upon a number of polls and interviews. It found a number of respondents who complained about the Democratic Party’s failure to deliver on its promises and its growing emphasis on LGBTQ rights and abortion at the expense of economic issues.

Teamed with this is a sense that, once in power, the Democrats are not much different from the Republicans – a theme explored by researchers with the Black Swing Voters Project at the American University in Washington DC.

Of course, this sense of alienation is far from restricted to people of colour and the young. For there is a strong sense among large numbers of working-class people across all races and ethnicities that the Democratic Party may no longer adequately reflect their views. Part of this flows from the Party’s socially-liberal stances that conflict with the more conservative values held by many working class people in such areas as public safety, LGBT issues, abortion and renewable energy. In an article in The Atlantic, left-leaning scholar Ruy Texeira describes what he calls the “Democrats’ Long Goodbye to the Working Class” which over time has seen working-class voters leave a Democratic Party they believe increasingly reflects the values and concerns of university-educated activists and voters. While this trend may have initially been centered on white working-class voters, many Hispanics are now joining them – with early indications that Black working class voters may now be starting to follow suit.

Is this the end for the Democrats?

So, is this the end for Biden and the Democrats? For Biden – maybe. But for the Democrats – hardly.

And while things do look bad for Biden just now, the reality is that he may yet survive this current rough spot. For politics is a funny business and stranger things have happened. And a number of leaders in worse shape than Joe have continued to rule long after their “best before” data. Two examples that come to mind are: Mao Tse-tung, who was rumoured to have been so incoherent in his old age that only one person in China could understand him, and former Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, who (so the joke went in Eastern Europe) had actually been dead for a year before anyone realized it.

Whatever happens to Biden, the Democrats can be counted upon to look after themselves. For example, they might well may force him to resign before the end of his term. Or they might find another more-electable candidate to run in 2024. (Michelle Obama is an interesting name that has recently been mentioned!) And the strength of the Democrat’s ‘ground game’ and their impressive bag of tricks – helped along by Donald Trump’s inability to keep his mouth shut – may be enough to push them over the goal line, even if Joe is their candidate.

Finally, something unforeseen may happen – such as a ‘Black Swan’ or some other event – that will totally reshuffle the electoral deck for Biden and the Democrats. Politics is funny that way. Just when you think you have it all figured out, something happens to turn the world upside.

Still, those are all short-term considerations. The more serious questions are long-term ones – namely, how America can survive if it continues to remain as divided as it currently is and tolerate the compromised institutions and incompetent leaders we see today. And those will not be easy to address since they will require some sort of cultural or spiritual revival if that is to happen.

Have Iranian Agents Penetrated the U.S. Government?

We learned this week from a trove of emails between former Iranian regime foreign minister Javad Zarif and a number of Western Iran “experts,” that the Tehran regime has cultivated ties with prominent academics with the goal of influencing U.S. and European policies.

Why is this important? Because that influence was focused on getting major concessions from the U.S. and the EU in the negotiations over Iran’s illegal nuclear programs, from 2014 until today.

One of those “experts” who sought guidance from Foreign Minister Zarif was a former Rand Corporation analyst named Ariane Tabatabai, the daughter of a prominent professor at Tehran University. Ms. Tabatabai became part of the State Department’s nuclear negotiating team and, most recently, went to the Pentagon where today she serves as the chief of staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations.

Please pause to let that information sink in.

A woman, whose own emails and actions and public writing and speaking show great sympathy for the Iranian regime, to the extent of asking regime officials whether she should attend academic conferences in Saudi Arabia and Israel, now has her finger on the pulse of ALL U.S. Special operations activities around the world.

And she is not the only one.

Ali Vaez, the former assistant to Robert Malley, both the Obama and Biden administration’s top nuclear negotiator with Iran, also appears in the emails to be taking directions from regime officials.

Malley was removed as nuclear negotiator in late April of this year and his security clearance was suspended as the FBI launched an investigation into his own activities, and now Vaez himself appears to be under investigation.

Perhaps it is just a coincidence that when John Kerry negotiated the Iran nuclear deal in 2015, he made three separate last minute concessions to the regime after he had thought he had a deal.

And the regime just happened to know that Kerry would cave on each one, so they pressed for more.

It was obvious at the time that this was an agreement “written in Tehran,” as I wrote in a column that appeared the day the agreement was finalized in the Daily Caller. You can read that article here.

Now it would appear, from these emails, that “written in Tehran” was not hyperbole. It was the literal truth.

The Party of War in Washington, London, Paris and Brussels continues to press its case for military assistance to Ukraine, even as the big Ukraine counter-offensive appears to be stalled.

As I remind listeners in my weekly geopolitics segment on Prophecy Today Weekend, war is politics by other means. At some point, politics has to take the fore and negotiations begin. But we are still a long ways from exhausting the dogs of war. They are still hungry and full of pep.

One positive surprise this week was the report released on Thursday by the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, part of the U.S. government’s official effort to counter propaganda and misinformation worldwide.

Instead of claiming Russian efforts to subvert our elections, long a common theme, this report focussed on China and Chinese communist efforts worldwide to “reshape the global information environment.”

About time, I would say.

Yours in freedom, for as long as we fight to preserve it.

Border Under Siege—The Truth Behind WHY

Two days ago, GOP senators delivered a fiery rebuke to the Biden administration’s handling of border security amidst high stakes spending negotiations. In a charged press conference, Senators Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Marsha Blackburn, John Kennedy, Thom Tillis, Katie Britt, and John Cornyn didn’t just express their displeasure; they painted a vivid picture of their frustrations.

Cruz deemed the border situation an “unmitigated disaster”, accusing Democrats of attempting a cover-up. They spotlighted the plight of stranded migrant children, the escalating menace of drug smuggling and human trafficking, and the strain on cities like New York who’s facing down bankruptcy.

While the Senate’s current Continuing Resolution (CR) neglects additional border security funding, the House is fervently pushing for the “Secure the Border Act” which finally puts stronger restrictions on our loose asylum seeker laws. This showdown promises to be a political spectacle, with the fate of border security hanging in the balance.

Biden’s response to the border crisis focuses on streamlining the flow of traffic at the open border, with measures such as CBP One, increased tent facilities, and expanded work permits.

The Biden administrations and DHS has recently reclassified Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), providing work permits and a shield from deportation to 472,000 that entered prior to July 31st. The cost of this one TPS grant cost Americans 56,640,000,000!

Uncoincidentally, the southern border is experiencing a surge of predominantly Venezuelan single adults with 4,000 entering this week alone, knowing that Biden has authorized the entry of 30,000 Venezuelans, Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans every month under a ‘humanitarian parole program’ and would likely extend the TPS Status to parole’s entering after the current cut-off. America is choking on special programs that are allowing the Biden Administration to circumvent our laws and these special grants should be challenged in the courts!

Is the Biden administration’s aggressive push for ‘Temporary Protected Status’ indicative of a calculated strategy to promote socialist ideologies among illegal migrants from Mexico, Central America, and Venezuela, potentially altering the political and cultural landscape of the United States?

Venezuelans, having endured the disastrous consequences of their socialist economic policies in their homeland, are now flooding the United States, enticed by the promise of taxpayer-funded welfare programs. Rather than staying and fighting to rebuild their economy and demand political reform in Venezuela, some argue that this migration pattern raises concerns about an anti-capitalist, dependency mentality. This situation fuels a debate about the balance between humanitarian assistance and fostering self-reliance and change in their home country.

Beyond the immediate fiscal strain on American taxpayersa deeper concern lies in the potential cultural and political impact of welcoming tens of millions of individuals with socialist and communist ideologies. These immigrants predictably and overwhelmingly will vote for the Democratic Party, further altering the nation’s political landscape, if granted citizenship. Many illegal aliens are living in battleground cities and states where elections are already determined by a razor’s edge. The sudden injection of such a substantial voting bloc will result in a seismic shift in political dynamics, affecting the local, state, and federal elections. This raises questions about the balance between compassion for refugees and the potential transformation of American culture and politics.

The outcomes of Biden’s immigration policies reveal a deeper intention within the Democratic Party. Their policies are intentionally encouraging a global surge in illegal immigration while coaching migrants on claiming amnesty and fear-based asylum to secure temporary entry into the United States.

The Left’s ‘Get Out the Vote’ strategy includes defending lax voter registration, lax voter roll maintenance, and eliminating Voter ID at the polls while identifying individuals with non-citizen driver’s licenses, registering them for vote-by-mail, and closely tracking these ballots for collection and delivery to voter drop boxes.

As Democrat policies create fractures among Democrat voters and contribute to the deterioration of cities, the economy, and law and order, the urgency to expedite the influx of migrants from socialist countries is viewed by some as critical for the Democratic Party’s survival and its prospects in future elections.

Clearly, the Democrat party has abandoned the American people and the American dream. They have decided to Move On (.org) and create a new America for the sole purpose of securing voters to secure their power, as their base begins to reject their destructive, self-enriching, and self-serving interests on the backs of taxpayers.

VIDEO: Illegal Migrants Fist Bump Border Patrol Agent After He Cuts Through Border Wire

EAGLE PASS, Texas — Illegal migrants fist bumped and thanked Border Patrol agents for cutting through barbed wire that had been erected by Texas authorities to secure the border, the Daily Caller News Foundation observed Thursday in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently instructed Texas authorities to place more wire along the Rio Grande River to address the influx of illegal crossings. Border Patrol agents cut through the wire to take into custody a group of migrants that had crossed the Rio Grande and arrived at the U.S. side of the river.

The migrants who crossed illegally Thursday thanked Border Patrol and the U.S. after they were let in.

WATCH:

The area has been overwhelmed by the surge in migrants crossing illegally, leading the mayor of Eagle Pass to declare a state of emergency.

”I want to be crystal clear – what’s happening is not the fault of the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol. They have been thrust into an untenable no-win chaotic situation. Place blame for the lawlessness at our borders where it belongs – the Biden Administration,” former acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan told the DCNF regarding the exchange.

WATCH:

“If you want to stop the invasion of people, drugs, criminals, and national security threats pouring across our borders, President Biden could do so tomorrow with a stroke of a pen! We must not fall into their trap to allow the scapegoating of the Border Patrol,” Morgan added.

“It is a federal responsibility to enforce U.S. immigration laws. U.S. Border Patrol continues to enforce U.S. immigration laws. Migrants who cross the Rio Grande from Mexico to Texas are on U.S. soil and subject to U.S. immigration laws,” CBP told the DCNF. “Those who cross unlawfully are subject to the lawful pathways rule, which places common-sense conditions on asylum eligibility, with certain exceptions. Migrants who do not establish a legal basis to remain in the United States will be removed.”

The number of illegal migrants in Border Patrol custody nationwide surpassed 22,000 on Tuesday evening, according to internal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data obtained exclusively by the DCNF. As of Tuesday, the Del Río Border Patrol sector, which encompasses Eagle Pass, was 280% over capacity.

Border Patrol has recorded more than 1.8 million illegal crossings at the southern border between October 2022 and August, according to federal data. In fiscal year 2022, the number of illegal crossings hit a record 2.2 million. In August, Border Patrol saw more than 181,000 illegal crossings in the region.

Biden’s Brother James told the FBI that the Bidens tried to help a Chinese firm tied to China’s president buy U.S. Energy Assets

Biden Bombshell: President’s brother told FBI family tried to help Chinese firm buy US energy assets

President’s brother told agents Hunter Biden believed CEFC company was tied to China’s president

By: John Solomon, JTN, September 28, 2023:

President Joe Biden’s brother told the FBI the first family – including Hunter Biden – tried unsuccessfully to help a Chinese company buy U.S. energy assets and did so believing the firm’s leader was tied directly to Communist Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to explosive new documents made public Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee on the eve of the first congressional impeachment inquiry hearing.

James Biden told the FBI in an interview last year about efforts by him and Hunter Biden to help the CEFC energy firm in China buy a liquid natural gas facility on Monkey Island off the coast of Louisiana, and that he personally met once with the company’s chairman, Ye Jianming, according to the FBI interview report released by the committee.

“James B noted (Hunter) portrayed CEFC to him as Chairman Ye was a protégé of President Xi,” FBI agents wrote in the report.

You can read the full interview report here.

File: T19 Exhibit 401-Memo-FINAL Memo of Interview w James B SPORTSMAN-09.29.2022_KPM Unredacted_Redacted.pdf

Upon the revelations, Georgia Republican Rep. Austin Scott deemed such activities treasonous, expressing that sentiment on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast on Wednesday.

“It just means it’s even worse than even I thought it was that they would go that far. If you look at some of those ports in Louisiana, and I don’t have a map in front of me, but like Port Fourchon, that area of Louisiana, just a tremendous portion of the energy that we use inside the United States come comes through those hubs,” he said.

“And the idea that you would help the Chinese acquire assets in that area to give, you know, an adversary… the ability to control the energy supply inside the United States… I don’t understand how much more of a traitor you could be than to do such a thing,” Scott added.

The bombshell revelation further contradicts President Biden’s claim dating to the 2020 election that his family made no money from China. It was released as part of a cache of documents turned over to the committee by FBI whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.

Documents previously released by federal prosecutors as part of Hunter Biden’s now-rejected plea deal show Hunter. Biden was paid millions from China, including from the CEFC deal. But James Biden’s FBI interview filled in crucial details about what the first family knew about CEFC, its leader and what it assisted with in return for payments from China.

UK’s Home Secretary: Multiculturalism has ‘failed’ and threatens social cohesion

Suella Braverman has never wavered in telling the truth, even under severe criticism. See HERE and HERE. However, her party and country are run by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who — like his predecessor Boris Johnson — has demonstrated no will to tackle the flood of illegal migrants that have invaded Britain, and continue to do so daily via the English Channel. Nonetheless, Braverman still advances a strong anti-globalist message, which seems to be out of sync with her party’s actions. For some reason, however, Braverman is still tolerated within her party, perhaps to calm the party’s conservative base. It remains a deep mystery why the Sunak government refuses to act in the best interests of Britain, and in accordance with conservative values.

Braverman’s speech was undoubtedly praiseworthy, particularly when she notes that “multiculturalism makes no demands of the incomer to integrate. It has failed because it allowed people to come to our society and live parallel lives in it. They could be in the society but not of the society.”

Most important, however, is the question of what her party intends to do about this, if anything. In Italy, right wing/conservative Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni bemoans suicidal immigration policies and hails the importance of protecting Italy’s culture, yet she has done nothing to stop the migrant influx.

Braverman: Multiculturalism has ‘failed’ and threatens security

Sophie Wingate, Independent, September 26, 2023:

Suella Braverman has declared that multiculturalism has “failed” in Europe and threatens social cohesion in the nation state.

The Home Secretary, giving a speech on migration in the United States, said a “misguided dogma of multiculturalism” has allowed people to come to the UK with the aim of “undermining the stability and threatening the security of society”.

Setting out the “civic argument” against illegal migration, Ms Braverman said: “Uncontrolled immigration, inadequate integration and a misguided dogma of multiculturalism have proven a toxic combination for Europe over the last few decades.

“Multiculturalism makes no demands of the incomer to integrate. It has failed because it allowed people to come to our society and live parallel lives in it. They could be in the society but not of the society.

“And, in extreme cases, they could pursue lives aimed at undermining the stability and threatening the security of society.”

She said “the consequence of that failure” are evident “on the streets of cities all over Europe,” pointing to clashes in Leicester as an example….

TAKE ACTION: Tell Nickelodeon that We Are Not Buying What They are Selling

Alerting all parents!

TAKE ACTION

In a recent episode called “The Crew Builds an Observatory,” Nickelodeon’s popular children’s cartoon Paw Patrol gave a nod to inclusivity, by introducing the franchise’s first non-binary character, River, who loves amateur photography and skateboarding. This episode also featured the bulldog Rubble and his building team as a promotion of the Paw Patrol spin-off show, Rubble & Crew.

Unsurprisingly, non-binary author and activist Lindz Amer created River. Amer also runs the YouTube channel Queer Kid Stuff and admitted in an Instagram post that creating and writing about the cartoon character was a bucket list achievement.

Amer announced, “They brought me on to consult on the first non-binary character – meet River!! – for the PP universe and write their episode, talk about a bucket list item.”

“I wanted to write a non-binary character who was aspirational and incredibly cool, someone for the pups (and kids at home) to look up to. They found an awesome non-binary actor, Cihang Ma, to voice River, and I’m so happy how it turned out,” added Amer.

Though River’s gender is not mentioned openly in the episode, Amer’s social media information makes it difficult for Nickelodeon to deny their intentions. Plus, the character gives subtle hints, including the transgender pride flag’s pink, white, and light blue color scheme displayed on socks and shoes.

Obviously, River is a blatant attempt by Nickelodeon to normalize children identifying as non-binary.

The Nickelodeon that parents knew as children is long gone.

Nickelodeon has now decided to be politically correct instead of providing family-friendly programming. But Nickelodeon should stick to entertaining, not pushing an agenda.

Please share this with your friends and family to ensure they are aware and not blindsided by it. As moms, we all want to know when Nickelodeon is attempting to desensitize our children by normalizing the LGBTQ lifestyle.

TAKE ACTION: Sign our pledge today! I encourage you to join us in telling Nickelodeon that we are not buying what they are selling.
