These are indeed strange times. We now question not only America’s future, but its very existence. This is not the first time we have questioned our ability to carry on. The 1860’s, 1930’s and 1960’s were strange times in our country’s history, but somehow we held on and succeeded in spite of overwhelming odds against us.
I have had the pleasure and privilege of being able to see quite a bit of the world, and there are many countries with admirable strengths, but there are weaknesses in them as well. Although other countries are quick to criticize our actions and policies, make no mistake, America is the country everyone wants to work with, and the place where everyone wants to come to. In spite of all of our problems, America continues to somehow persevere. One cannot help but ask, “Why?”
As the world’s melting pot, we are a culturally diversified society with a heterogeneous set of opinions and perspectives. Our customs, beliefs, and values are derived not just from the “old world” but from geographical idiosyncrasies as well; e.g., New England, the Mid-Atlantic states, the South, the Midwest, the Southwest, and the Northwest, each with their own indelible peculiarities which influences the behavior and opinion of the citizens. Getting the people of the United States to conform to a standard set of values, rules, and laws is not only incredibly difficult, it is nothing less than a miracle that we have lasted this long.
So why does America succeed? Two reasons:
First, Freedom – We were very fortunate to have a set of founding fathers with the foresight to develop an innovative Constitution and Bill of Rights which defines the checks and balances of government and establishes the unalienable rights we all enjoy as citizens. It is simply brilliant. Freedom allows us to express our creativity and imagination, encourages an entrepreneurial spirit, and promotes a free-enterprise system that stimulates the growth of the middle class representing the economic engine of our country (and the world). Without this engine, America would be no different than any other third world country.
We have been fortunate to have had many people defend these rights over the years, both in and out of uniform, but perhaps no more than Abraham Lincoln who seemed to grasp the significance of what our forefathers were trying to do and, thankfully, preserved it for succeeding generations. I very much doubt we have anyone in our government today with the wisdom and vision needed to devise as sophisticated a document as the framers of the Constitution did over 200 years ago.
Second, the People – who thrive under an environment of freedom. America is not just one people, it is several types of people operating under one umbrella. Both our strength and weakness lies in our cultural diversity. It brings many different perspectives, insights, and new ideas to the table, thus encouraging opportunity, competitiveness and invention on a global scale. It is because of this cultural mix that we only come together as a result of disaster; the rest of the time is spent arguing, finger pointing, and political wrangling. This is why Americans are typically better reactors as opposed to planners. If America has an Achilles’ Heel, it is that we tend to wait for disaster before we act; e.g., The Lusitania, Pearl Harbor, and 911.
America succeeds not because of our government, but in spite of it. Without the blueprint of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, our government would be more invasive in our lives than it already is.
So, why do we succeed? Actually, I think it’s more than just dumb luck, but rather because the time was right to create a country like the United States, the need was real, and we were fortunate to have good and learned people who put it all together. As long as we believe in our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and do not deviate from them, and believe in ourselves, “We the people…” of America will succeed.

I have been a fan of the Youtube! video platform for quite some time. It has just about everything I want, such as movies, comedy, sports, history, music, news, food, and much more. Lately though, I stumbled upon a series of videos featuring people who appear to have lost their minds on camera, be it:
There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of such videos through Youtube! For me, it is like watching a train wreck. The stupidity of the people is mind-boggling, making the video somewhat addictive to watch, e.g.; “How will they screw up this time?” From these videos I noted three common characteristics:
All of this is a formula causing them to go berserk at a moment’s notice. Basically, they are trying to impose their sense of reality and morality on everyone else, even if it is incorrect. This is the basis for my thesis, “Homo Sapien Ass****” (HSA) which I wrote years ago. In it, I contended an HSA is a person who acts in a seemingly absurd manner towards others based on their erroneous perception of reality either for personal gain or to react to a situation. Our perception of reality dictates our actions. For example, we dress according to how we believe the weather will be; if we believe it will be cold, we will wear a warm coat. However, if our perception is wrong, that the weather is actually quite hot and humid, wearing a warm coat would be considered a foolish decision. A false perception of reality is one of the underpinnings of HSA and can be caused by such things as attention deficit disorder (easily distracted), or by our own sense of worth (ego).
So the challenge becomes to act according to the proper perception. If we do not, we will lose our cool, as the people did in the videos, and not act responsibly or respectfully, just obnoxious at whatever the cost. In other words, HSA’s cannot socialize effectively.
One last conclusion, the people shown in the videos must either be Democrats or members of the press as their perceptions are different than main stream America and act as HSAs, also known as the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Here are some videos featuring people with TDS; notice how they essentially act no different than the people in the first set of videos:
In these last videos, the angst of the protagonists is triggered by anyone who flagrantly opposes their viewpoint or sense of reality. The outbursts are actually Pavlovian in nature thanks to repetitive training by the main stream media. None of these people will tolerate an opposing opinion, thereby possessing a closed mind. All of this highlights the strength of the media which is actually quite scary.

My family and my company are leaving California.
It’s heartbreaking.
My parents moved to California four decades ago. I grew up here. For 33 of the 36 years I’ve spent on this planet, I’ve lived here.
I was born at St. Joseph’s in Burbank; I attended elementary school at Edison Elementary; I went to college at UCLA. I co-founded a major media company here, with 75 employees in Los Angeles. I met my wife here; all three of my kids are native Californians.

This is the most beautiful state in the country. The climate is incredible. The scenery is amazing. The people are generally warm, and there’s an enormous amount to do.
And we’re leaving.
We’re leaving because all the benefits of California have steadily eroded—and then suddenly collapsed. Meanwhile, all the costs of California have steadily increased—and then suddenly skyrocketed.
It can be difficult to spot the incremental encroachment of a terrible disease, but once the final ravages set in, it becomes obvious that the illness is fatal. So, too, with California, where bad governance has turned a would-be paradise into a burgeoning dystopia.
When my family moved to North Hollywood, I was 11. We lived in a safe, clean suburb. Yes, Los Angeles had serious crime and homelessness problems, but those were problems relegated to pockets of the city—problems that, with good governance, we thought could eventually be healed. Instead, the government allowed those problems to metastasize.
As of 2011, Los Angeles County counted less than 40,000 homeless; as of 2020, that number had skyrocketed to 66,000. Suburban areas have become the sites of homeless encampments. Nearly every city underpass hosts a tent city; the city, in its kindness, has put out port-a-potties to reduce the possibility of COVID-19 spread.
Police are forbidden in most cases from either moving transients or even moving their garbage. Nearly every public space in Los Angeles has become a repository for open waste, needles, and trash. The most beautiful areas of Los Angeles, from Santa Monica beach to my suburb, have become wrecks.
My children have personally witnessed drug use, public urination, and public nudity. Looters were allowed free reign in the middle of the city during the Black Lives Matter riots; Rodeo Drive was closed at 1 p.m., and citizens were curfewed at 6 p.m.
To combat these trends, local and state governments have gamed the statistics, reclassifying offenses and letting prisoners go free. Meanwhile, the police have become targets for public ire. In July, the city of Los Angeles slashed police funding, cutting the force to its lowest levels in over a decade.
At the same time, taxes have risen. California’s top marginal income tax rate is now 13.3%; legislators want to raise it to 16.8%. California is also home to a 7.25% sales tax, a 50-cent gas tax, and a bevy of other taxes that drain the wallet and burden business.
California has the worst regulatory climate in America, according to CEO Magazine’s survey of 650 CEOs. The public-sector unions essentially make public policy, running up the debt while providing fewer and fewer actual services.
California’s public education system is a massive failure, and even its once-great colleges are now burdened by the stupidities of political correctness, including an unwillingness to use standardized testing.
And still, the state Legislature is dominated by Democrats. California is not on a trajectory toward recovery; it is on a trajectory toward oblivion. Taxpayers are moving out—now including my family and my company. In 2019, before the pandemic and the widespread rioting and looting, outmigration jumped 38%, rising for the seventh straight year. That number will increase again this year.
I want my kids to grow up safe. I want them to grow up in a community with a future, with more freedom and safety than I grew up with. California makes that impossible. So, goodbye, Golden State. Thanks for the memories.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Larry Klayman, a citizen of Florida and a voter in his home state, has sued Michael Bloomberg, the Biden campaign and other defendants as set forth in the complaint, which can be found at www.freedomwatchusa.org, over Bloomberg’s alleged scheme to induce convicted felons to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for president and vice-president in the upcoming general election. The complaint was filed in Florida state court in Tallahassee and is styled Klayman v. Bloomberg et. al, and is listed as case No. 2020-CA-0018 on the court’s docket.
Klayman, who while chairman and general counsel of Judicial Watch participated in the trial in a Tallahassee courtroom presided over by now retired Judge N. Sanders Sauls during the 2000 presidential election challenge known as Gore v. Bush, had this to say upon filing suit:
“The dilution of my vote and the vote of Florida citizens by illegal means must not be permitted. Michael Bloomberg, the Biden campaign and their co-conspirators must not be allowed to influence an election for any presidential or vice-presidential candidate. I am therefore asking the circuit court in Tallahassee to issue a declaratory judgment and preliminary injunction barring this illicit plan from going forward. The multi-billionaire Bloomberg and the Biden campaign are not above the law they must have their nefarious wings clipped and held to account.”
The Catholic News Agency reported Tuesday that Cardinal Raymond Burke, “a canon lawyer and formerly the prefect of the Church’s highest court, has said that Catholic politicians supporting abortion should not receive Holy Communion, including pro-choice Catholic presidential candidate Joe Biden.” That’s the kind of statement that makes you formerly the “prefect of the Church’s highest court.”
Biden, Burke asserted, “is not a Catholic in good standing and he should not approach to receive Holy Communion,” because “a Catholic may not support abortion in any shape or form because it is one of the most grievous sins against human life.”
If that is the case, then Biden is clearly not a Catholic in good standing. Accordingly, Burke stated, “I would tell him not to approach Holy Communion out of charity toward him, because that would be a sacrilege, and a danger to the salvation of his own soul. But also he should not approach to receive Holy Communion because he gives scandal to everyone. Because if someone says ‘well, I’m a devout Catholic’ and at the same time is promoting abortion, it gives the impression to others that it’s acceptable for a Catholic to be in favor of abortion and of course it’s absolutely not acceptable. It never has been, it never will be.”
The good Cardinal is right in a sense. That is indeed the teaching of the Catholic Church. But teaching is one thing and practice is quite enough. Pope Francis has repeatedly made it clear that as far as he is concerned, the real sins, the real serious sins that get you a tongue-lashing from the Roman Pontiff and doubtless a date with hellfire in the age to come, are opposing mass Muslim migration into the West and believing that Islam is not a religion of peace. Abortion? Come on, man! That’s child’s play, so to speak, compared to the big sins.
Last September, Pope Francis, who back in 2014 fired Burke from his position as “prefect of the Church’s highest court,” made clear what the big sins really are as far as he is concerned, when he emphasized that Christians had a responsibility before God to take in migrants: “This loving care for the less privileged is presented as a characteristic trait of the God of Israel and is likewise required, as a moral duty, of all those who would belong to his people.”
On that same occasion, the Pope unveiled a huge statue in St. Peter’s Square, “Angels Unawares,” which depicts a boat full of migrants and a pair of angel wings, so as to emphasize that the migrants into Europe, among whom have been numerous jihad terrorists, rapists, and other criminals, are saintly and deserving of Christians’ support and protection.
What about Christians in Europe who are concerned about the spiraling crime rates and the strain on the welfare systems of nations that have taken in large numbers of migrants? Are they allowed to exercise charity toward their neighbors and friends by opposing mass migration and trying to preserve and defend their own cultural heritage?
Not on your life. Or at least they can’t do that and remain Catholics in good standing. And Francis’ Brave New Church has other newly-minted “grievous sins” as well. The Pontiff has claimed risibly that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” As ridiculous and readily disproven as this is, it has become a superdogma in the Catholic Church: if you don’t believe that Islam is a Religion of Peace, you will be ruthlessly harassed and silenced by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the hierarchy elsewhere as well. The bishops of the Catholic Church are much more concerned that you believe that Islam is a religion of peace than that you believe in, say, the Nicene Creed. And so what possible reason could there be to be concerned about these “refugees”? It’s a religion of peace!
As of several years ago, the U.S. Catholic bishops had 91 million reasons — indeed, 534 million reasons — to turn against the truth and disregard the safety and security of the American people: “In the Fiscal Year 2016, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) received more than $91 million in government funding for refugee resettlement. Over the past nine years, the USCCB has received a total of $534,788,660 in taxpayer dollars for refugee resettlement programs.” And how much have pro-life organizations given to the Church in that span? Not $534,788,660.
As Ilhan Omar might say, it’s all about the Benjamins.
And so Cardinal Burke may say Biden is barred from Communion, but it’s certain that there are numerous others who will readily administer Communion to the candidate. After all, he’s right on the really important things.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)

As President Donald J. Trump gears up to debate Joe Biden tonight in Cleveland, life-long Democrat and Ohio lawmaker Bernadine Kennedy Kent announced her endorsement of President Trump’s re-election. Joe Biden has spent nearly half a century in Washington and his actions have only resulted in further divisiveness and mass incarceration for Black Americans. Only President Trump has taken historic action to empower the Black community through economic opportunity and access to quality education, resulting in the lowest poverty rate for Black Americans in U.S. history.
The letter from Bernadine Kennedy Kent, Ohio State Representative (D) – District 25 reads:
“No matter what my feelings are towards the Democrat Party, one thing is crystal clear: my values truly align with President Donald J. Trump’s willingness to work with those of differing opinions and perspectives more so than with Joe Biden’s divisive rhetoric, promotion of mass incarceration, and disrespectful, insensitive ideologies that substantiates his infamous comment ‘…if you’re still deciding between me and Trump, then you ain’t Black…’ during an interview on a popular African American radio program earlier this year.
“Not only am I Black, I am a proud American and delighted to endorse President Trump for re-election. Furthermore, I am honored to share with people my intent to vote for him and spread the word on the value of his leadership and his dedication to the American people.”

Something fundamentally disquieting, like some noxious alien plant, has been allowed to take hideous root in our beloved America. Going back to 2016, when Donald Trump won the presidency, we have witnessed increasing hysteria on the Left, but also within what passes as the Establishment. After all Trump has never been a part of the establishment elites and so we now have a President who answers directly to the people and not to the Washington insider crowd.
A perfect storm has arrived – the Chinese virus – or what we are told must be called Covid-19 in order to be politically correct and not upset the Communist Chinese government. Thanks also to Dr. Fauci we have become the locked down nation, morphed into mass helplessness and forced to wear masks. Many in the medical profession consider him a hero while others have a more jaundiced opinion.
If Dr. Fauci has his way we may soon have to add goggles to cover not only nose and mouth but also eyes. Imagine looking out of the windows of our homes and seeing strangely garbed neighbors passing by.
Leftist Democrat mayors encourage the “protestors,” who in reality are rioting millennial mobsters, to get on with their dirty work because the police are being defunded so in all likelihood the spoilt millennials won’t be arrested. This is the Left’s perfect storm but is America’s misfortune.
We do not have enough conservative media to combat the tidal wave of misinformation and deception which enslaves the minds of millions of our ill-informed citizens. This is now what has become of the mainstream media, which looks the other way as the leftist mobs of Black Lives Matter and Antifa burn down businesses and attempt to destroy Federal buildings in Democrat run cities throughout America.
If good people know too little about what is going on it is because they are fooled by watching ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and MSNBC or by reading the New York Times and the Washington Post. Tragic how the great profession of journalism, with a few honorable exceptions, has become the propaganda arm of the Democrat Socialist party.
American viewers are too often not seeing cities becoming war zones, nor are they hearing that Federal agents and police, who are protecting Federal buildings, are being permanently blinded by green lasers fired at them by BLM or Antifa mobsters as in Portland, Oregon. But what they are falsely told is that that the nightly violence is all Trump’s fault because he is sending in “stormtroopers’ (aka, Nazis) into American cities to attack “peaceful protestors” as the execrable Nancy Pelosi so dishonestly claims.
President Trump is not acting as a dictator as some liberal friends of mine recently and shamefully suggested. No, he is fulfilling his Constitutional duty to prevent the burning down of Federal buildings and protecting American citizens from the violence of Antifa and BLM because left wing Democrat mayors have told their police to stand down.
The good people may finally begin to say to the recalcitrant Democrat governors and mayors that enough is enough and this lawlessness must stop now. The good people, of course, can make their opinions matter at the ballot box.
We must ask ourselves if viewers of the nightly news truly believe what the mainstream media (MSM) is telling them is the truth. If they still do then we have reached the terrifying reality of how easily and how far good Americans can be manipulated and deceived.
The problem with the MSM is compounded by how, for instance, the Supreme Court has also become hopelessly politicized. Justice which is supposed to be blind, like the blindfolded face on the statue atop London’s Old Bailey, is trampled by activist judges who ideologically favor the Left and judge accordingly.
What has been heartbreaking to witness was the recent five to four Supreme Court decision in which John Roberts once again joined the liberal wing and voted to allow large numbers of folks to attend casinos or movie theaters, maybe as many as five hundred at a time, but limited to a mere fifty how many worshippers could attend churches or synagogues. Notice no such draconian restrictions have been placed upon mosques. This was a deplorable abrogation of the First Amendment and is patently a violation of free speech, religion, free markets and capitalism.
We are thus being put into the same position that existed in 1776 or 1860 where we are being forced to fight for the continuing existence of freedom and liberty. Political Correctness is the enemy of free speech, just as masks one day may be seen as a mass submission by the population to a nascent tyranny.
Our Judeo-Christian faith teaches that God is on the side of freedom, truth, justice and law and order as enshrined in the Ten Commandments: the Decalogue. And this is the very reason that the godless Left hate it so much and tear down its monuments wherever and whenever they can.
Someone once wrote that, “America was great when thousands of white men shed their blood to end slavery during the Civil War. America was great when four hundred thousand Americans died in WW II to defeat Nazism and the Japanese warlords. America was great when settlers braved the wilderness in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries to blaze trails, forge pathways through the plains and mountains, tame a wilderness and build a great nation.”
And America is great today because she gives more to help a starving, needy world generously than any other nation on earth. And America is great mainly because of her belief in the Biblical God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and because of religious freedom to worship God.
The hope before November and the General Election is that folks watching the baleful MSM will have the opportunity to rid themselves of their reliance on leftwing news and begin to ask how Democrat mayors of cities such as Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, ad nauseam, could allow such anarchy and violence to go on and for so long.
As patriotic Americans, we all believe in the Constitution and we must never allow anyone to tell us that we cannot exercise our Constitutional right to vote as we see fit.
If we don’t resist, then we are at the very edge of the abyss and will fall into the horrors of a Bernie Sanders malign socialist state that is no longer America. Instead we will become victims of the “squad” of the odious likes of AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour and the sinister Marxist wizard who hides behind the curtain: George Soros.

Should being an active Christian bar you from public service? Yes, say many pundits today. It would seem that the left wants to impose a religious test to bar anyone who truly believes in Jesus from serving in government.
The death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg left a vacancy on the Supreme Court. In the days following her death, all of the candidates on President Trump’s shortlist to replace her were dedicated Christians, and the left once again bared their anti-Christian bigotry.
The Constitution says there can be no religious test applied to those seeking office at the federal level (Article 6, clause 3).
A famous incident in 2017 involved California Senator Diane Feinstein scorning Catholic judge, Amy Coney Barrett (who is now Trump’s nominee to fill the Supreme Court vacancy), for being too religious. The senator said, “I think whatever a religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different. And I think in your case, professor, when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern.”
Washington Post writer Ron Charles recently criticized Judge Barrett because of her belief that a “legal career is but a means to an end … and that end is building the Kingdom of God.”
When George W. Bush, an outspoken Christian, was president, one of his biggest antagonists (at least behind the scenes) was George Soros. The billionaire venture-capitalist is committed to a secular vision for America. Soros has paid out billions of dollars to try and impose his godless vision on America. With Bush 43 in mind, Soros said, “The separation of church and state, the bedrock of our democracy, is clearly undermined by having a born-again president.”
These are amazing statements. Why not just hang out a sign on Constitution Avenue: “Government Service Openings: Christians Need Not Apply”?
One man had the impertinence to hold a different opinion than these. He said, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege of interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
Oh my goodness. Who was this backwoods rube? Didn’t he know anything about the Constitution and about our nation’s sacred institutions—er, make that “secular institutions”? That quote was from founding father John Jay, one of the three authors of the Federalist Papers, perhaps the finest political science writings in American history. John Jay was appointed by President Washington to serve as the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
I spoke recently with my friend Dr. Peter Lillback of the Providence Forum on the radio, and I mentioned the Diane Feinstein quote to him. He noted that we could turn it around and observe that Senator Feinstein is also dogmatic. But her dogma is one rooted in secularism.
Gary DeMar of American Vision puts it this way: “The left hates any ‘dogma’ that questions their ‘dogma.”’
Meanwhile, an honest reading of American history shows that faith—the Christian faith—was very important to most of the settlers and the founders of America:
The dogmatic anti-Christian bigots in our society are very wrong in their notion that being a devout Christian should somehow disqualify you from public service. The idea that there’s some sort of anti-Christian magnet over the threshold of government buildings does not comport with our history nor with our Constitution.

In her book, The Shepherd’s Granddaughter, Anne Laurel Carter drops her young readers into the middle of a land without its history, a situation without context, and a story without perspective, but her message is meant to influence innocent students. It is a tutorial in subterfuge, a tale woven on an invisible loom, where the circumstances are unseen, the actions undefined, and the slander insidious. This is my seventh children’s book review and it has left me reeling.
We meet Amani at age 6, eager to be a shepherd like her grandfather, Seedo. His two sons (her father and uncle) and his grandson (Amani’s brother) apparently have other interests and Amani loves being with the sheep. However, there is no resemblance to Johanna Spyri’s joyous tale, Heidi, as this author has a political mission. We immediately learn that Amani’s people have lived “under the Mediterranean sun” for a thousand years, and that this land, by default, should be theirs. If that were the case, might that same rule also apply to the Jews who have lived in Poland for more than a thousand years? Does mere residency grant consequential ownership?
No, that is not the case. In Ambassador Yoram Ettinger’s “Palestinian claim of continuity,” he quotes British cartographer and Dean of Westminster Abbey, Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, who observed in 1856, “for miles and miles there was no appearance of life or habitation” in Sinai and Palestine. The labor migration into the British Mandate was notably Egyptian, but also Syrian, Yemenite, Persian, Afghan, Hindu, Bedouin, Bosnian, and more – at least 25 different nationalities. The point being that the majority of residents in Judea, Samaria and pre-1967 Israel were recent migrants.
Grandfather explains that the mountain wolves were dispossessed by the Israeli “occupation.” It is more likely that the wolves fled due to the din of the systematic shelling into Israel by Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and Jordan, and the all-out “Six-Day War,” when Israel made a vital pre-emptive strike that resulted in its re-occupation of the West Bank (Judea, Samaria), Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, Old City of Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. And since then, the Arabs, now self-proclaimed Palestinians, have never ceased their terrorist raids.
As they navigate the grazing areas, Amani sees terraced olive trees and areas where Israelis destroyed entire groves. Again, the author allows us to believe that Israelis wantonly cause destruction; the truth is withheld. Property demolition is a method Israel has used in these territories that came under its control because of winning the Six-day War. The procedure is considered a form of deterrence or collective punishment, as the terrorist is forced to consider the effects of his actions on his family. When Amani observes the occupation, checkpoints, security zones and helmeted soldiers, Seedo justifies, “We’ll never have peace through violence. They don’t trust us.” His statement, both prophetic and instructive, remains unexplained, but implies that he knows the terrorists who are responsible for the local damage and the Israeli backlash, including the eventual demolition of their property.
During family conversations, they speak of Israelis building new highways and new settlements (neighborhoods) throughout Palestine (Judea, Samaria), and are heading their way. Amani’s uncle Ammo, angry that Palestinians live like refugees, wants only to fight with weapons. As they watch TV, they learn of battles on city streets, riots, protesters decrying the new highways, people crying, blood-stained sidewalks, a suicide bombing in Israel, 11 young people killed in two explosions. Israeli soldiers block the old road to disallow passage through the eastern gate. Ammo wants his people to live in houses on Palestinian land. The author, Carter, does not explain that this land is disputed territory that falls under the purview of UN Resolution 242, which calls on Israel to withdraw from territories captured if and when its neighbors agree to live in peace, and not as long as the terrorism continues. Palestinians have refused all proposals of peace, using their UN funding for weaponry, terror tunnels and payments to mothers of martyrs instead of building infrastructure and establishing a country.
They speak of armed Jewish neighbors chasing Palestinian farmers from their orchards, burning down houses, suggesting that they are the aggressors, attacking without reason. These are neighbors who are retaliating against the source of terrorist attacks, but until the terrorists are apprehended, it is Israel’s policy to respond with disciplinary action – temporarily shutting down power, imposing a provisional curfew, and positioning tanks to enforce house arrest, which also inflicts a financial hardship for those who cannot go to work. These activities are not explained to the young readers; neither are they told why Amani’s father, uncle, and brother are periodically arrested and released. Amani’s brother Omar gives her a book, Al Naqba (The Catastrophe), referring to the (self-)evacuation of 600,000 Palestinians in 1948. Carter offers no history, no context, no comment.
As bulldozers approach the north valley, Omar, cries out, “They want our land, our water, they want to drive us out. A man has the right to defend himself on his own land.” Their mother, Mama, talks about the past and the “massacre” in her village when the Israel Defense Forces attacked. Omar claims the right of defense, that Israel wants Palestinian water. The truth is that Israel supplies Palestinians with water. In fact, Israel has doubled the amount that was stipulated in the Israeli-Palestinian Interim Agreement (9/28/95, signed in Washington) to combat the desert water crisis. The Palestinian Authority pays Israel $3 million per year for their water, which constitutes less than 10 percent of the water they consume.
Mama’s tale of the massacre is Carter’s revival of the most infamous Massacre that Never Was. It occurred in Jenin, April 2002, when 16 Palestinian terror bombings killed 102 Israeli civilians. The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) reported first 3,000, then 520, Palestinians killed, adding unchallenged quotes and false allegations that were repeated in at least half-hourly sensational reports. When finally Doctors without Borders went in, and were met with the undeniable stench, they reported that the body count was unearthed corpses from adjacent cemeteries. The BBC was fully responsible for all the libelous coverage, falsehoods, accusations of “war crimes against humanity.” Sir Quentin Thomas noted: This was “a straightforward lie unwittingly, but very effectively, served by the BBC, that caused terrible damage and pain.” Carter, knowingly or otherwise, refrains from clarifying that the horrors were never committed. Knowing only what Mama says, the young readers will conclude that Israel is worthy of loathing. Further, Mama’s village was not “confiscated,” but “recaptured” by the invaded country.
To exacerbate the already damaging narrative, Carter adds two gratuitous Jewish characters to the story. One is a rabbi who joins the demonstrating Palestinian blockade that chants, “This is our land,” as they seek to stop the Caterpillar equipment from preparing the peak for paving. Certainly, the Jews have their share of collaborators or leftists, but the novelist’s inclusion is psychologically coercive, implying that this individual represents a large percentage of Israelis.
The second is Jonathan, a teenage boy about Amani’s age, whose “settler” father shot one of Amani’s sheep. He is sympathetic to Amani and rejects his father’s actions and the conflict. He says, ““My father says a real Jew defends the Holy Land. I don’t know what a real Jew is anymore My grandparents saw so many Jews die in the camps. They believed in a homeland where Jews would be safe, but I can’t believe they meant this. The settlement destroyed your life.” The author’s message is that the traumatic injustice suffered by the Jewish generation of the Holocaust has goaded them into visiting something similar on a defenseless people. However, there is no historic precedence to prove that Jews are a vindictive people, but quite the opposite.
The Jews are the indigenous people and legal residents on the land, yet Carter disparages the defensive actions of the Israelis while remaining non-judgmental about the terrorism, which, in essence, is a continuation of the Islamic jihad that has spread throughout the world over 14 centuries. The novelist has used two Jewish conspiratorial voices to support the Palestinian narrative.
Carter evidently has no concern whatsoever with context, perspective, history and the consequent dissemination of falsehoods. The danger is that her story will be accepted at face value by the young and undiscerning. Only those who understand the sub story of this tale will realize that Amani’s father, uncle, and brother are terrorists, and it is because of them that Amani and her family have lost everything.

Cissy Steele was using the internet to disguise herself as a talent agent from Royal Loyalty Management who was looking for models and actresses when she came across Jane Doe (not her real name). Steele then proceeded to prey upon Jane Doe by intentionally cultivating a sense of trust and building a false relationship. Steele reached out to Jane Doe online and offered her lucrative acting and modeling opportunities. After communicating, Steele convinced Jane Doe to take a modeling opportunity with the promise of making Doe into a successful model and actress. Steele manipulated Doe to go a step further and move into Steele’s home with the reassurance that this move would benefit Doe’s supposed new career.
Once Jane Doe was ensconced in Steele’s house, Steele furthered her deception of Doe by setting up several faux modeling photoshoots. After a few months, Steele began verbally degrading Doe and telling Doe that the only way she had a chance at becoming a lucrative actress or model was through pornographic “acting.” When Jane Doe resisted this pressure, Steele began using psychological manipulation, direct coercion, intimidation, threats, and physical violence against Doe including threatening to kill Doe’s dog and harm her family. In the end Steele managed to effectively imprison Jane Doe and coerce her into commercial sex acts with men at various hotels in several states. All the money made from Jane Doe’s sexual exploitation was immediately pocketed by Steele.
From there, Steele also trafficked Jane Doe to multiple pornography production companies in California and Nevada including Diabolic Video Productions, Black Ice Ltd., Zero Tolerance Entertainment, Third Degree Films, and Elegant Angel, Inc. All of the pornography producers directly paid Steele for Jane Doe’s participation in the videos despite clear signs that Doe was being trafficked.
The pornography production companies distributed the videos of Jane Doe to a multitude of internet pornography providers. As a result, the online porn providers illegally profited from the sex trafficking of Jane Doe through advertisements on their websites as well as through viewers’ subscription fees.
Eventually, with the help of a friend, Jane Doe escaped from Cissy Steele’s home and control and began a new life. Despite Jane Doe’s many efforts to have the videos taken down, her videos remain on several online sites to this day.
Cissy Steele, the pornography production studios, and the internet pornography websites violated the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (TVPRA) which prohibits anyone from knowingly using force, fraud, and coercion to entrap victims into commercial sex acts and profiting off of their exploitation.
Accordingly, Jane Doe has now sued Cissy Steele, the pornography production companies, and the online pornography providers which continue to show and sell videos of her sexual abuse and exploitation against her will. The case, filed on September 24, 2020, is in federal district court in San Diego.
As horrific as this case is, it is not an anomaly. Countless Jane Does are trafficked and exploited by the pornography production industry and internet pornography providers. Jane Doe repeatedly attempted to have her sex trafficking videos removed to no avail and there are websites that continue to profit off of her sexual abuse and exploitation to this day. The same is the case for myriad survivors who find their sexual abuse images and videos on internet pornography websites and are afflicted with the paralysis of not being able to remove the degrading and re-traumatizing content. As long as someone is willing to pay for this content, pornography production companies and internet pornography providers have proven more than willing to provide it—no matter how violent, dangerous, and degrading the content may be.
Take the case of Mia Khalifa as another example.
In 2015, Mia Khalifa mistakenly signed a contract with a pornography production studio and resigned after two weeks. The contract she signed gave the company control over the websites and domains that contained her stage name. Although Khalifa has been out of the pornography business for over five years, the pornography production company is still promoting her videos and creating an illusion that she is still engaged in the commercial sex industry even though she has worked hard to have her videos removed from pornography sites. This reality has made it difficult for Khalifa to find employment in other fields, which only furthers the reach and extent of the exploitation.
Like many others, Khalifa’s attempts to remove her videos have been met by indifference from the pornography companies. “Pornography companies prey on callow young women and trap them legally into contracts where they’re vulnerable,” Khalifa noted in comments published by The Guardian. She also stated that during every filmed scene she would black out, yet no one on the set seemed to notice or offer any assistance: “The abuse and exploitation of young women is normalized in pornography, and if you don’t comply, you’re threatened, beaten, and intimidated.”
Whether or not there is a contract in place, the sexual exploitation and abuse that comes from pornography production studios and internet pornography providers is degrading, traumatizing, and crippling. These abusive companies know they are profiting off of the sexual exploitation of women who have been beaten down, manipulated, often drugged, and are in no condition to acquiesce to such exploitation. The pornography industry’s lack of regulation hinders many survivors from fully healing, as they are continuously haunted by the existence of videos of their abuse living on in the Internet.
The Cissy Steel lawsuit is the first federal lawsuit against a pornography producer and online pornography website for federal anti-trafficking violations. We hope this lawsuit and many others like it will hold pornography producers and internet pornography providers accountable for the damage, abuse, and exploitation of the untold numbers of women and children trafficked in the pornography industry.

The world of politics is the arena in which the culture and the Church are now colliding head-on in a war for the ages. It’s taken a man like Trump to actually set the stage for this epic battle, to set the table for everything to come together.
For example, in a stunning admission this past weekend, in light of the announcement of Catholic Amy Coney Barrett by Trump to the Supreme Court, New York Times columnist Elizabeth Bruenig just flat out said, “Judge Barrett’s nomination has merely renewed attention to a fundamental conflict, centuries underway, between Catholicism and the American ethos.”
Well, at least Bruenig has the decency to be upfront about her anti-Catholic bigotry. Most of her Marxist-minded allies do not. But more and more of them are beginning to speak of actual Catholics as some sort of pariahs, speaking of us in terms of the enemies of the State.
It’s not been that long in this country since Catholics were treated as the enemy. It was really only in the wake of World War II where Catholic servicemen fought alongside millions of their non-Catholic American brothers-in-arms that we caught a break.
Ten years later, Abp. Fulton Sheen was dominating the airwaves, speaking of Catholic majesty and truth and virtue. His Life Is Worth Living television show was the number-one-rated show when it aired from 1952 till 1956. He even won the Emmy award for “Most Outstanding Television Personality” in the show’s first year.
Sheen — American born and Catholic formed — was a strident patriot and a zealous anti-communist. He often railed against the evil of Marxism, even famously saying of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin on the air, “Stalin must one day meet his judgment.” The next week, Stalin hit the floor, dead from a stroke.
Of course, this was all nearly 70 years ago, and a lot has changed in America since then. America has Marxist creep. It has become this way because the American experiment is based on the foundation of a virtuous people. Once virtue leaves the room, chaos sets in. Sheen never had to talk about widespread ills of our society — fatherless children, shattered families, an acceptance of homosexuality, abortion as the most common surgical procedure performed in the country.
It was precisely to prevent evils like this that Sheen preached to begin with. Yet here we are, a nation sunk so low that many are questioning, “Is America on life support; is this its demise?” Despite this past weekend’s prayer rally organized by Frankin Graham (with a conspicuous absence of Catholic bishops, incidentally) the large gathering of thousands does not mask that America has traded vice for virtue.
Little by little, each election cycle, fewer believers vote, ultimately because there are simply fewer believers to vote. The scales are at the tipping point, and soon, barring some action by Heaven, they will complete their tilt toward godlessness, enshrining immorality into law and eviscerating any opposition to that what Bruening calls “the American ethos.”
What has happened though is that what she describes as the American ethos is little else than a sophisticated way to speak of Marxism. Her American ethos is as far from the actual American ethos as James Martin’s version of Catholicism is from actual Catholicism — which is to say light-years away.
Anti-Catholicism will soon become etched into that new ethos if the Marxists win this election. In some ways, in fact, it already has. President Trump had to actually come out this past weekend and address the entire topic of anti-Catholicism.
Now the last battle is being waged in the arena of politics. A win here for the Marxists means it’s over. Time will be all there is standing between faithful Catholics and those who want to destroy them. Consider, almost a hundred Catholic parishes or shrines around the nation have been vandalized this year.
Faithful Catholics have been insulted, spit on at pro-life prayer sessions and vilified in the media for defending Catholic teachings. This will not go away if Biden wins. It will increase — it will, in fact, come to be blessed by the State (for how else should an enemy of the State be treated?).
The case could be made — strongly — that 70 years ago, America was on the verge of becoming Catholic. But that was not to happen. Many of the religious orders — even back then — had already been penetrated (as well as Catholic colleges and universities).
The seminaries were beginning to stink of subtle heresy. The Church had been neatly prepared to be offered up to the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s. By that time, enough of the hierarchy had become corrupt — doctrinally, liturgically, financially or sexually, or in some cases, all of the above.
A giant structure of the Church in America had been constructed in those first hundred or so years, and it would take a number of generations to dismantle it. But over the decades, dismantle it they did — the enemies of Christ inside the Church we’re speaking of.
Their champion is Joe Biden; he is the very model of everything the current American ethos is about. And he is the very model at the same time of all that fraudulent Catholicism is about. He is the son of the fraudulent Church of Nice, and those in his entourage would turn around and smash the authentic Church to pieces.
Understand, Catholics who actually believe, understand everything that is at stake here.
