The Truth About Liberal Policies

Many thanks to Laser List member Jeff Walyus for this fantastic rhetorical approach.  I have found it enormously helpful on many occasions.

The truth about liberal policies is that they hurt people.  Let’s look at just the latest examples.

The New York Times made an astounding admission in November. Democrats run the show in Illinois, California, and New York, and have for decades, but blue states are doing worse than red states in many key respects: lack of affordable housing, disparities in education funding, rising economic inequality – all things liberals and Democrats profess to care about and for which they claim to have all the answers.  The New York Times was brutal in its assessment of blue state results:

… blue states are the problem.  Blue states are where the housing crisis is located.  Blue states are where the disparities in education funding are the most dramatic.  Blue states are the places where tens of thousands of homeless people are living on the streets.  Blue states are the places where economic inequality is increasing most quickly in this country.  This is not a problem of not doing well enough.  It is a situation where blue states are the problem.

Let’s take a closer look at one of those blue states, Washington, out on the Left Coast.  America’s schools are following in the footsteps of Seattle to indoctrinate students on racial equity. But Seattle’s efforts to teach racial equity and ethnic studies have been marked by animus, lies, and worsening results.  Academic achievement as measured by state test scores went down after instruction on “power and oppression” was emphasized over math in 2018.  Pass rates for whites and blacks both dropped.  The response of the schools?  More ethnic studies and less math.  Despite having equity programs for decades, Seattle schools had one of the worst black-white student achievement gaps in the nation, as of 2017.  Liberal policies did not make things better.  They made them worse.

Another admission comes from a liberal book author who worked on progressive causes in San Francisco.  Like other west coast cities, San Francisco adopted policies that enabled homelessness, drug dealing, and crime.  All the problems he set about to solve got worse, instead.  He pins the blame on the liberal mindset that labels people victims and makes excuses for their destructive behavior.  San Francisco is where Walgreens closed 15 stores because shoplifting there is so bad and the penalties for it have been reduced.  Do you suppose the people who walked to those stores for their prescriptions are better off now?

Liberals have pushed Child Tax Credits, food stamps, and super-sized Obamacare subsidies, but a recent report shows people can make more from these programs than from work.  These programs disincentivize work and allow people to stay home and not return to the work force.  Maybe, if you’re a Democrat politician, you like the idea of making people more dependent on government and, thus, on you.  But any normal person can see this is not a healthy development and it’s unsustainable.

Democrats want to massively increase federal spending on transportation which they view as systemically racist.  But more mass transit and fewer cars will hurt the poor.  A study found that cars provide urban households with better access to jobs and economic opportunities than other forms of transportation.  Cars reduce neighborhood poverty exposure by 3 to 4 percent.

Liberals love the teachers unions, but collective bargaining agreements for teachers produce worse outcomes for students, especially minority students.  Liberals also love rent control, but it’s well-known rent control produces housing shortages because it destroys the incentive to build new housing.

Rising homelessness.  Out-of-control shoplifting.  Worse educational outcomes.  Fewer economic opportunities.  Not only do liberal policies not work, they actually hurt people.  In their impulse to make a perfect world and end all human suffering, liberals end up making things worse.  This is why you should not support them, no matter how good they make things sound.  They might be good at dazzling rhetoric, but they’re terrible at good governance.  Which would you rather have?

Liberal Media Group Creates pro-Biden ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Ad and We Can’t Stop Laughing

It’s time for a little laughter given the bleak winter of 2022 and the Biden presidency. What we didn’t expect is that a liberal media group would bring that laughter to us. Call it “sun in spades”, or for our French speaking readers soleil à la pelle, no pun intended.

MeidasTouch is a liberal PAC that was founded in March of 2020 by Ben, Brett and Jordan Meiselas with the purpose of stopping the reelection of Donald J. Trump.

MeidasTouch’s slogan is “Because Truth Is Golden.” Ironic isn’t it.

MeidasTouch decided to do a political ad favoring Biden and titled it “Let’s Go Brandon.” Watch:

The problem, after you stopped laughing while watching the ad, is that Biden and his administration have either failed in getting their agenda passed, e.g. Green New Deal, federalizing elections, or have failed to accomplish their agenda when passed, e.g. the Infrastructure Bill which does little for infrastructure and is biased in its funding to blue over red states like Florida.

in an article titled “Okay This Is Beyond NUTS, This Pro-Biden Ad Might be the WORST Ad Ever” wrote:

Yes, the claims it makes are, without exception, dumb and baseless. And yes, it looks absolutely horrific; as Ben Dreyfuss put it on Twitter, “This ad looks like it was made on their phone at 3am by someone drunk in an Uber on their way home.” Bingo.

Those facts are bad enough and would make the ad well worth laughing at. But, even more ridiculously and hilariously, someone thought that bringing up the “Brandon” thing in a pro-Biden ad was a good idea!

Yeah, that’s right. They used “Brandon” as an acronym to try to list out Brandon’s accomplishments, none of with are actually real and almost all of which aren’t exactly the issues Americans care about.

We all know that the symbol of the Democrat Party is a jackass, which is funny enough. But MeidasTouch using Let’s Go Brandon in a pro-Biden political ad takes the proverbial cake.

We agree with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who said, “The highest state is laughter.” We are definitely in a high state of laughter. If you want another laugh just watch as liberal media personalities slam Biden’s bureaucracy on COVID-19:

Dumb ass best describes MeidasTouch’s ad.

CFACT Collegians Make The Grade For Liberty, Mid-Term Grade A+

It’s winter break for many of CFACT’s Collegians activists, and so it is time to take a peek at their “mid-term grade” for the year.

We’re happy to report that CFACT’s student leaders have earned an A+ for their great efforts! Of course, at CFACT, we do not lightly award such grades – our standards are high for activism and making an impact. So, what warranted such stellar marks for our Collegians? Here’s a few examples:

To jump start efforts in the fall, Collegians organized informative speaking events so that students could hear the facts they aren’t hearing in their classrooms.

At the University of Central Florida, CFACT Collegians co-sponsored a talk given by the former press secretary to President Trump, Kayleigh McEnany, to a crowd of several hundred students. She discussed her experiences in the White House and took questions from students regarding Biden’s climate and energy policies. In Minnesota, students at UM-Twin Cities heard from CFACT president Craig Rucker about the genesis of the modern environmental movement and the troubling agendas at work within leftist Green circles today. Meanwhile, University of Texas, San Antonio students brought in Gabriella Hoffman, host of CFACT’s District of Conservation podcast and Conservation Nation YouTube series, to learn how hunting contributes to conservation efforts.

Collegians then followed up these educational forums with unique campus activism.

In November, CFACT activists organized a campus activism campaign called “Build Back Bankrupt” to push back against President Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda. As part of the joint effort with other student groups, CFACT students at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, Grand Canyon University in Arizona, the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, and the University of Central Florida distributed fake monopoly money with flyers. The point of this effort was to show students that the dollar will essentially be worth nothing more than fake play money if Biden were to get his expensive Build Back Better agenda enacted.

“As inflation rises from huge government spending it’s like a hidden tax on all of us,” said Ned Sheehan, a graduate student at Vanderbilt University who organized efforts at his school. “Less purchasing power impacts all students, and it is important for them to learn about that.”

“This was an important event to do on campus, because young people need to realize what is happening to the value of the dollar,” said Farrell Sessler, a sophomore at Grand Canyon University. “If government keeps spending money recklessly on all sorts of climate change and expanded welfare programs, inflation will keep getting worse and it will be harder for all of us to succeed both during and after college.”

Yet despite the success of these events, Collegians realized the dire need to deliver facts directly to those deciding public policy. So, in December, four CFACT student leaders from Pennsylvania, Arizona, Texas, and Washington DC, delivered testimony to the Environmental Protection Agency during its virtual public hearing on new methane rules. The CFACT students all objected to the new Biden rules, saying they were unnecessary, would further heighten energy costs, and ignore environmental gains already achieved in the United States.

“Methane that is leaked is just natural gas that isn’t sold by companies. The industry already has a strong incentive then, to limit these leaks to limit profit loss, and has clearly taken steps already. Methane emissions from U.S. oil and gas have dropped 12% since 2005, while oil and gas production increased by 80% and 51%, respectively, according to the Wall Street Journal,” testified Mikel Moore from the University of Houston.

Shakira Jackson from the University of Pittsburgh voiced concern with how the new rule would hurt federalism, saying: “This rule erodes [our] system of federalism by changing the way we regulate existing sources of emissions. That is supposed to be regulated by states under the Clean Air Act, but this regulation takes that authority away from states and forces a one-size-fits-all approach on states. It is saying that the same regulations for California should match those for Pennsylvania – states with different populations, different industries, and different priorities.”

As the semester wrapped up and 2021 came to a close, students from Trenton High School in Michigan and Liberty University in Virginia organized two environmental clean-up and community service events. These efforts were organized to show the public that CFACT Collegians not only work to impact public policy and change minds, but also care deeply about the environment and seek ways to keep our communities clean.

In this spirit Michigan students led an event called “Raking a Difference” that organized lawn clean-up efforts for the elderly and disabled. Liberty University students in Virginia performed a litter clean up around Lynchburg to clear trash from paths and brush.

Through CFACT’s recruiting and organizing efforts this past semester, new CFACT Collegians chapters and networks were established at Indiana University Bloomington, Dartmouth College, the University of Houston, and Grand Canyon University.

These new student networks helped build upon CFACT’s already extensive presence on colleges and universities across America. Expect their new members to make a big splash for liberty and sound science on their campuses in 2022!

For their commitment to the truth, impressive organizing abilities, and tenacious courage in the face of relentless leftist censorship from campus authorities, CFACT Collegians undoubtedly earned their A+ grade.

Look for them to keep up the momentum this spring!

Biden’s Inabilities Threatening Global Peace

The idiotic usurper in the White House and his administration’s foreign policy is bringing the world closer to an apocalyptic end.

Russia for some time has been threatening and amassing massive military assets at the Ukrainian border. They have had threatening flyovers and Putin has made very clear Russia’s claim to the Ukraine. Now, don’t get me wrong. Ukraine is no angel but it has been profitable for the Biden crime family. It is a corrupt nation. Not one I want our military put in harms way necessarily to defend. I certainly do not want to see our great military enter a war with Russia.

Russia has been increasing spending tremendously on its military and, as a petroleum based currency, has been greatly aided in this by the incredibly stupid Biden energy policy. In other words since 2021 wehave been paying Russia trillions for oil that we had previously been supplying from our own reserves.

Here however, this administration has done all it can to belittle and destroy our military from within.

When Biden mentioned in his speech that if there was only a “small” Russian incursion then the response may be proportionate. He showed the world and our allies how weak we have become. China, North Korea, Russia and Iran took notice and have all become visibly excited and more dangerous. They now think the time has come to do whatever they want as all they see is a geriatric, mentally challenged piece of human excrement in charge here led by radical extremists intent on destroying America from within.

The Afghanistan withdrawal made it perfectly clear to all our enemies that our corrupt top military leaders and politicians have no idea what the hell they are doing. It was a totally embarrassing debacle of staggering stupidity and weakness with apparently no repercussions on the traitors involved.

We are now at a place where we are ordering out our families of US embassy staff and American citizens in Ukraine and telling them to leave while they can. We know from Afghanistan that this administration does not have an exit strategy for our people. This came after news was obtained from UK Intelligence services that Putin was looking to replace the Ukrainian leadership with one more sympathetic to Russia either prior to invasion or after. ( Embarrassing that our CIA didn’t get this info but also obvious as no foreign intelligence agency or country can place any trust in this pathetic failure of an administration. )

America. We have around 200 Florida National Guard servicemen and women in the Ukraine in military advisory positions and this administration has said it will ensure, when the time comes, that they all get out! Like the Afghanistan withdrawal you mean? Right ….

This as the idiot in charge is contemplating sending a couple of thousand American troops to the area to Sabre rattle. This will be part of a wider NATO plan which will be ineffective. Even the worthless Marxist head of the Church of Rome is calling for a day of peace. Pitiful. Do they think Putin cares about any of that?

China meanwhile continues to taunt America with massive military displays of power like the 39 fighter plane flyover by Taiwan just as we sailed in there with two aircraft carriers and a pair of amphibious assault ships in the Philippine Sea. China has done this multiple times with ever increasing sophisticated equipment. China has been very clear, like Russia, that Taiwan belongs to them and they fully intend on taking it back. This has been ongoing since 1949 when the split occurred. America still has not officially recognized Taiwan but is supportive of its democracy based government.

Iran to add to all this seems intent on accomplishing it nuclear ambitions, the primary one becoming a nuclear armed country and the total destruction of Israel. Thanks to Biden again, they are pretty much being given the green light to continue without fear of any serious repercussions. What a pitiful weak nation we have become in one short year. Who could have imagined our demise as a powerhouse would come so fast? The whole Middle East has become a major area of possible conflict where we had had peace for the previous four years under President Trump ruling from a position strength and not weakness.

North Korea as well understands that they too can thumb their noses at America and continue developing their weapons of mass destruction and the hyper sonic missiles they could carry those warheads on and reach even us. Again, no repercussions just threats that everyone knows are just that. Idle threats from a treasonous administration.

NATO is nothing without strong American leadership. We do not have that. They will huff and they will puff but they will not blow these houses of evil rearing their ugly heads into the dust they should. That organization, like the waste of time UN, are a bunch of toothless feminine bulldogs. All bark. No bite. More worried about “wokeness” than international peace and global stability.

The EU and NATO response is weak. Germany is so reliant on its fuel and coal deliveries from Russia (31% and 54% respectively of its needs) that it is wishy washy in its response as is Europe. Sending a couple of planes and a few soldiers will not deter Russia if it decides to enter Ukraine. Russia has sensed blood in the water and is circling like a shark. China and our enemies are watching in delight as we are looking weak and unsure.

Our diplomats are mentally outmatched by our enemies. They are inexperienced and do not have our best interests at heart. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is a completely weak moron. A Biden aide with no real experience or abilities to be negotiating with the likes of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who ran rings around him. What an embarrassment. When you get Biden and Putin talking together it is like a world leader (Putin) talking to a kindergarten kid. No match.

America. The domestic enemy within has strengthened over the last 60 years to become a worthy enemy that is far more dangerous to this constitutional republic than any foreign enemy has to date. Those our military were always able to take care of. Some of our own people have turned on this nation like rabid creatures, drooling saliva and bad breath and they deserve no sympathy but just total annihilation. Only then can this country mend and come together and face the world united and strong and once more be that beacon of light and hope for the rest of this globe.

To all servicemen and women. Past, present and future. To all law enforcement professionals. Past, present and future. I say the following. You all took the same oath to defend this nation against enemies foreign and domestic. That day is here. The threat from our domestic enemies far outweighs the threat right now to our existence, far more so than from our foreign enemies.

The day is nigh when you may need to recommit yourselves, remember that oath taken without an expiration date, and stand strong against our own brand of domestic enemy- the leadership of which is in both parties and scattered throughout every corrupt alphabet agency and offices of power. Their evil doer soldiers are emboldened by this administration and daily they show their hand. We know who they are. We know where they are. The day is nigh.

These trans TikTok videos are pushing kids over the edge

Social media is fuelling a trans pandemic.

The irony should not be lost on us that a trigger warning is required for an article written for adults about what their kids are watching on the internet. But in the age of social media and trans mass hysteria, this is where we find ourselves.

A brilliant documentary called “The Call is Coming From Inside the House; The Great Awokening” was posted on YouTube on January 16th 2022. Within a few days, it accrued thousands of views. It features extensive footage which has been publicly posted on social media promoting trans identities and trans surgeries, much of which is highly graphic and disturbing.

This documentary compares the recent explosion of trans-identification among our youth to mass hysterias of the past such as the “dancing plague” of the middle ages, and the hysteria of the Salem witch trials, and lays the blame squarely at the feet of social media.

It begins with a general discussion about online social contagion phenomena. During the Covid pandemic, epidemics of  Tourette’s-like tics, and of teens claiming to be suffering from multiple personality disorder, bipolar disorder and many other mental health disorders have come to the attention of concerned medical professionals. There is plenty of footage of teens explaining their self diagnosed conditions on social media in the first part of the documentary.

It has been well recognized for some time that eating disorders can be socially contagious, and there is confronting footage documenting teens posting images online of their cachectic bodies and bullying each other to lose weight.

We parents of transidentifying kids have been shouting from the rooftops for some years about the social contagion that is behind the explosion in numbers. However most health professionals are still refusing to acknowledge this, despite the recent awareness of all these similar socially contagious online phenomena.

The documentary features arresting footage of teens on social media talking about their diverse gender identities and their unique pronouns.  Disturbingly there is even one teen claiming to have multiple personality disorder, and explaining that because most of her “alters” are trans, she is going to transition, despite the fact that she is not trans and does not wish to do so.

We then move on to cover trans surgeries, and this is where the trigger warning really cuts in.  Graphic images of girls as young as 13, posing topless to show off the scars from their “top surgery” –  cosmetic double mastectomies – are genuinely shocking, even to us parents, who have been hardened by our exposure to the trans movement.

There are images of smiling surgeons posing with their young patients, and advertising directly on social media to these adolescents to drum up more business for their grisly trade. One photogenic blonde surgeon is shown smiling approvingly as a young trans-identified woman reels off a list of slang terms used for breast amputation including “divest the chest”, “arrest the breast” and “get riddy that tiddy”. Several surgeons then assure your teen that surgery can be personalized in whatever way is “most affirming” including the complete removal of the nipples, or shaping of nipples into “a Christmas tree, or the Star of David”, or whatever other shape is desired.

Teens are informed by influencers that these surgeries are “customizable” and that they can choose to keep or dispose of any body part as desired.  Various possible mindboggling configurations of genitalia are described. Surgeons are then depicted explaining “nullification”, which involves a male who does not “identify with his genitalia”  having them completely amputated, leaving only smooth skin. (Gender mapper has documented that this surgery may be available to boys as young as 17.

Next there is a discussion and graphic images of “phalloplasty”, a procedure which attempts to construct a phallus for trans-identified females by removing a chunk of flesh from the forearm, rolling it up, and attaching it to the groin.  The complication rate is sky-high and the financial cost astronomical.

An apt analogy is next drawn between transgender surgery and the “lobotomy craze” of the 1950s, which left thousands of patients permanently harmed by the time it petered out.

Finally there is a discussion of regret, with interviews with numerous young people explaining how they had no idea what they were getting into, the pressure to rush into irreversible surgeries, and their profound regrets about what they have done to their bodies.

I caution anyone who chooses to watch this documentary to use their discretion. It is truly shocking – but it is what our kids are freely able to access online. Every parent should watch it if they feel able. However there should be no discretion for any politician, journalist, health professional or teacher who is pushing this harmful, abusive ideology to our children. Any who wish to utter one more word about “acceptance and inclusion”, and about how “affirming” medical transition is, should be forced to watch this documentary and imagine their own daughters walking around their homes, topless, sporting flat, scarred chests.

To close, I will describe the two images which, among all this surreal horror,  had the biggest effect on me.  One shows a smiling young woman posing topless with her surgeon to show off her mastectomy result – multiple self harm scars are clearly visible on her arms and abdomen. The other is a short video of a young woman, also topless with fresh mastectomy scars and missing nipples, explaining in an agitated manner how she is getting “phantom nipple pain” and pleading with whoever has “gotten hold of my nipples and is pinching them to stop the “sick game”. There are no words to describe a society which allows healthy body parts to be removed from young people who are clearly in such severe mental distress.

Wokeness has captured universities, says Jordan Peterson as he resigns

Sick of intellectual corruption, the world’s best-known psychologist abandons academia.

“I recently resigned from my position as full tenured professor at the University of Toronto,” Jordan Peterson wrote in a bombshell op-ed for the National Post last week.

The Rockstar psychologist’s fame long ago outgrew the halls of Canada’s oldest college, where he has researched and lectured since the late 1990s in spite of every slur and scandal.

“I had envisioned teaching and researching at the U of T, full time, until they had to haul my skeleton out of my office,” he writes. “I loved my job.” Nevertheless, Peterson’s title will soon be downgraded to professor emeritus — and how long he lasts in that role is uncertain, judging from his rationale for stepping down.

If the legacy press has been your main lens on Jordan Peterson, you might assume that he’s quitting after one too many pranks or personal attacks. But if you’ve followed the man more closely, you’ll know he has thought in great depth about the decision.

“The appalling ideology of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity is demolishing education and business,” he opens. And yes, Peterson deliberately jumbles the acronym to achieve his preferred spelling: DIE. These three words, now heard in classrooms and boardrooms across North America, have quickly become the Holy Trinity of wokeness.

Put simply, this is what DIE has done to academia, in the words of Peterson:

We are now at the point where race, ethnicity, “gender,” or sexual preference is first, accepted as the fundamental characteristic defining each person … and second, is now treated as the most important qualification for study, research and employment.

How have they driven Peterson from his post? First, he says, DIE is killing the career prospects of some of his brightest students. The students who excel and have the correct sex, skin colour and sexual predilections are fine. But those who deserve to be hired and are white, straight and male mostly graduate to a dead-end road.

“I am academic persona non grata,” Peterson adds, “because of my unacceptable [read: anti-woke] philosophical positions.” For all these reasons, he feels that his job has been rendered morally untenable. “How can I accept prospective researchers and train them in good conscience knowing their employment prospects to be minimal?”

Beyond the practical consequences for his students, Peterson is labouring under the weight of DIE’s deception. While he doesn’t mention Solzhenitsyn, Peterson’s philosophical father clearly haunts the decision he has made. Especially this famous quote: “The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie.” Writes Peterson,

All my craven colleagues must craft DIE statements to obtain a research grant. They all lie (excepting the minority of true believers) and they teach their students to do the same. And they do it constantly, with various rationalisations and justifications, further corrupting what is already a stunningly corrupt enterprise.

The problem is greater still for Peterson, since woke ideology has also stretched its tentacles into the accreditation boards of Canada’s graduate clinical psychology training programs. Henceforth, these gatekeepers of the profession will refuse to accredit any program that doesn’t have a “social justice” (read: woke) orientation.

Moreover, Canada has just outlawed so-called “conversion therapy”. Peterson warns that it will therefore become “exceedingly risky for clinicians to do anything ever but agree always and about everything with their clients”. It may even have “doomed the practice of clinical psychology,” he mourns, “which always depended entirely on trust and privacy”.

Rounding off his explanation, Peterson posts an extensive quote from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who curiously weighed in on wokeness late last year. Putin’s words are worth reading in full:

The advocates of so-called ‘social progress’ believe they are introducing humanity to some kind of a new and better consciousness. Godspeed, hoist the flags, as we say, go right ahead. The only thing that I want to say now is that their prescriptions are not new at all. It may come as a surprise to some people, but Russia has been there already.

After the 1917 revolution, the Bolsheviks, relying on the dogmas of Marx and Engels, also said that they would change existing ways and customs, and not just political and economic ones, but the very notion of human morality and the foundations of a healthy society. The destruction of age-old values, religion, and relations between people, up to and including the total rejection of family (we had that, too), encouragement to inform on loved ones — all this was proclaimed progress and, by the way, was widely supported around the world back then and was quite fashionable, same as today. By the way, the Bolsheviks were absolutely intolerant of opinions other than theirs.

This, I believe, should call to mind some of what we are witnessing now. Looking at what is happening in a number of Western countries, we are amazed to see the domestic practices — which we, fortunately, have left, I hope — in the distant past. The fight for equality and against discrimination has turned into aggressive dogmatism bordering on absurdity, when the works of the great authors of the past — such as Shakespeare — are no longer taught at schools or universities, because their ideas are believed to be backward. The classics are declared backward and ignorant of the importance of gender or race.

In Hollywood, memos are distributed about proper storytelling and how many characters of what color or gender should be in a movie. This is even worse than the agitprop department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Blinken: U.S. Not Imposing Sanctions Despite Continued Russian Buildup On Ukrainian Border

Despite urging from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Sec. of State Antony Blinken has pushed back against calls to impose sanctions on Russia as they continue to buildup a military presence along the Ukrainian border.

“When it comes to sanctions, the purpose of those sanctions is to deter Russian aggression. If they are triggered, now you lose the deterrent effect,” Blinken explained to CNN’s Dana Bash Sunday. Blinken maintained that everything the U.S. is doing now, including working with Europe in a “united way” is designed to “deter and dissuade” Russia from taking aggressive action while the West pursues diplomacy.

Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst appeared later in the broadcast refuting Blinken’s stance on sanctions, stating, “When it comes to pushing back against Russia, we need to show strength and not be in a position of doctrine of appeasement, which seems to be how President Biden has worked his administration.”

“So, we do need to go ahead and impose sanctions on Russia now.” Ernst continued. “We need to show them that we mean business and we will be there for Ukraine should they invade. Once an invasion happens, lives are lost. You can’t go back from that. So those sanctions need to be put in place now,” she concluded.

Russia has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops along the eastern border of Ukraine following that country’s pursuit of membership in NATO, something Russian President Vladimir Putin has called “unacceptable.” Putin has also voiced concern over the placement of U.S. missile sites close to Russia’s borders.

“We are doing a lot right now,” Blinken maintained. “Besides the United States taking the lead in bringing countries throughout Europe and even beyond together, in putting together massive consequences for Russia if it takes renewed aggressive action, in Ukraine, as I mentioned, we’re providing and last year alone provided more military assistance to Ukraine than at any year in the past. We have been going against those inside Ukraine trying to destabilize the government. So we’re taking concrete action,” he concluded.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Progressive commentator Melissa Harris-Perry, in an MSNBC ad:

There’s your bright red line, people. Terry McAuliffe said that parents have no business passing judgment on what their kids are taught at school. This is what so many on the Left believe: that it is their role to liberate children from the troglodytic beliefs of their parents.

They want our kids for themselves. Don’t you get it?

I think this fall, Republican candidates should just run this MSNBC clip over and over, and at the end, just add the slogan: “Had enough? Vote Republican.”

UPDATE: Hello all, I had to spend all the afternoon and evening traveling, and I only just got Internet. I have learned that this Melissa Harris-Perry spot is from 2013. Obviously it might not represent what she thinks today, so I apologize to her if by quoting it, I falsely represented her views today. The clip was massively shared on Twitter yesterday, and it’s worth considering why it sounded plausible and current: because we are watching right now, in real time, in suburban Virginia and elsewhere, the educational establishment — the progressive wing at least, but perhaps I’m being redundant — behave as if they believe that MHP spoke the truth.

Still, I wish I had known this was a 2013 clip. I still would have cited it, because I believe it shows what many on the Left really do believe about kids and parents, but I would have specified its date.

Just moments before she was shot and killed, Ashli Babbitt confronted the police officers guarding the doors to the Speaker’s Lobby at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, blasting them for allowing rioters to smash the windows and not calling for backup, an analysis of a journalist’s video shows.

The analysis comes on the heels of recent disclosures that Babbitt tried at least four other times to stop the assault on the Speaker’s Lobby. It shows her desperation when the rioters were left unchecked, even smashing a window just inches from a police officer’s head.

In the video—shot by independent journalist Tayler Hansen—Babbitt, 35, is seen trailing rioter Zachary Alam, attempting to get between him and one of three police officers at the Speaker’s Lobby double doors.

Alam, who was arrested by the FBI on Jan. 30, 2021, bashes the window in the double doors twice.

The first time, he grabs one police officer’s shoulder with his left hand, then punches between him and another officer, striking the window, the video shows.

“Chill out! Chill the [expletive] out, bro!” someone shouts. “Hey! Chill out!”

“These guys work for us!” someone in the crowd interjects.

“You gonna shoot him?” another person asks.

A bearded man in a red Trump cap complains that they are not being allowed into the Speaker’s Lobby. “Mother [expletive]! We don’t want to hurt nobody. We just want to go in the House.”

Tried to Dissuade Rioter

Babbitt tries to get in between Alam and one of the officers. She says something to Alam, but he brushes her off. Alam then cranks up his right arm and punches the window next to the officer. Within a few seconds, Babbitt blows up at the officers for allowing the violence and vandalism.

“Call [expletive] help!” Babbitt shouts, jumping up and down in front of the officers. “We’re allowed to be here!”

Babbitt takes a couple steps back. There was no visible reaction from the officers, sparking her anger. “You’re a fraud!” she shouts. “You’re a [expletive] fraud! You’re wrong!”

After walking away, Babbitt can be heard screaming just off camera: “Take it down!” Hansen said he believes she meant for the crowd to calm down.

“You could tell that she was definitely getting upset,” Hansen said while reviewing the video with The Epoch Times. “She was calm when she first got there. Then as the destruction continued and as more people started to fill in and it got more dangerous, that’s when you can tell she was getting really upset.”

Babbitt served as a police officer in the U.S. Air Force during her 14 years of military service. Her husband, Aaron, said her law enforcement experience likely told her something was wrong.

“I believe she saw their inaction as odd or off, and was ultimately confused as to what was happening,” Aaron Babbitt told The Epoch Times. “She was a take-charge kind of person. Her frustrations show that the cops who should’ve been taking charge—weren’t.”

“I’d only seen bits and pieces and never fully put together,” Aaron Babbitt said of the video. “I can hear the confused panic in her voice.”

He said the video makes him sad, since his role as a husband is to protect his wife. He stayed in San Diego to run the couple’s small business while Ashli attended the Trump rally in Washington. She was trapped in the hallway, and claustrophobic.

“She had no friends in that room,” Babbitt said. “I always go back to no one would’ve ever watched out for (her) like I always did. Very helpless.”

Babbitt said he hopes the video analysis gives the public a better understanding of the chaos in the hallway.

“I’ve known something was off with the whole situation from day one,” Babbitt said. “Hopefully this gives other people a different perspective—or at a minimum makes someone take a second look with a different mindset.”

“What I think it was from reviewing the footage and just from knowing what I know about Ashli from the family, is she probably got claustrophobic,” Hansen said, “because more people and more people kept pouring in and she realized she was in a bad situation. So then she pushed her way over to the window area.

“Once that window broke, I think she realized this was going to be bad for the people inside if they were actually able to breach these doors entirely,” Hansen said. “I think she wanted to be the first one through that window so she could kind of safeguard it, honestly. If she can get to the other side of the window where officers are, in her mind she would be safe.”

Hansen said he just discovered an Instagram live-stream video he shot on Jan. 6 that shows Babbitt as she first turned the corner into the Speaker’s Lobby hallway. He said it confirms what he told The Epoch Times on Jan. 17, that Babbitt was friendly with the police officers when she first approached the doors.

“Ashli just walks right up to them and just seems super happy; doesn’t know what she’s about to walk into. She was joking with the cops right before Byrd put a bullet into her.”

Hansen said he first encountered Ashli in the Capitol Rotunda as she entered the building by herself. He next saw her as he emerged from a room with George Washington’s portrait on the wall, then followed her to the Speaker’s Lobby hallway. They were the first two to reach the double doors.

Encounter Started with Calm

“It shows her and me just walking right up to the door with Officer Yetter and all the other cops and she starts talking to them.”

Hansen also captured the moment Lt. Michael Byrd shot Babbitt as she stepped up into the open window frame to the right of the double doors. The bedlam in the hallway quickly turned to panic—and anger.

“There’s an active shooter here! Get her down!” Hansen shouts.

“She needs help! She needs [expletive] help!” someone screams.

A man off camera reaches in at the 38-second mark of the video and check’s Babbitt’s neck for a pulse. “She’s gone, guys.”

“We can’t [inaudible] if you’re here!” a police officer shouts at the crowd. “We’ve got to get EMS here!”

“Back up guys, back up!”

An officer leaning over the stairway railing, shouts, “She’s going to [expletive] die! You want to be next?” he says

“Go, go! Everyone get the [expletive] away!”

The Biden administration is obstructing more than a dozen congressional investigations into its diplomacy with Iran and its efforts to unwind sanctions on the hardline regime, according to a year-long foreign policy evaluation conducted by Republican leaders in the House.

The Republican Study Committee, the largest conservative caucus in Congress, disclosed on Thursday that it has sent over a dozen letters to the Biden administration asking for information on the lack of sanctions enforcement in the last year with no satisfactory response. The administration is stonewalling these investigations as it works to keep Republican lawmakers in the dark about the status of negotiations and economic sanctions on Tehran, according to the lawmakers.

One year into President Joe Biden’s administration, “Iran is richer, stronger, and closer to a nuclear weapon” than ever before, the RSC concludes in its latest foreign policy assessment, which awards Biden a failing grade for allowing Iran to greatly expand its atomic weapons program. An advance copy of the RSC’s investigation, led by Chairman Jim Banks (R., Ind.), was provided exclusively to the Washington Free Beacon. The report exposes how the Biden administration has repeatedly broken its promise to enforce U.S. sanctions as it pursues diplomacy with Iran’s anti-American regime.

“It is clear that the Biden administration, while not technically lifting many of President Trump’s sanctions on Iran, is tacitly providing sanctions relief through lack of enforcement, to coax the Iranians to re-enter the failed Iran nuclear deal,” according to the Republican report card. “Unfortunately, such a tactic only hardened Iran’s will to stall in negotiations and step-up provocation.” This includes sponsoring terror attacks during the past year on U.S. outposts and allies in the Middle East.

In compiling the report, Republican leaders held meetings with former high-level national security officials and think tank analysts. The officials helped the RSC detail how the administration has relaxed pressure on Iran and helped the regime claw back from the brink of financial collapse.

When former president Donald Trump left office following the toughest four years of sanctions on Iran in recent history, the country had just $4 billion in accessible cash reserves. One year later, Iran’s foreign currency reserves have increased by 750 percent, congressional leaders determined. Tehran’s illicit oil trade with China, Russia, Syria, Venezuela, and other malign regimes also increased by more than 40 percent during 2021, the Free Beacon first reported this month.

“Despite repeatedly stating that no sanctions relief would be provided to Iran until Iran returned to the failed Iran nuclear agreement, the Biden administration has reneged on that promise by not vigorously enforcing existing penalties, and, in some cases, abusing waiver and license authorities directly benefiting the Iranian regime and its affiliates,” the report states.

As negotiations drag into their second year amid increasing Iranian demands for cash, the regime has implemented “a series of nuclear moves that experts consider ‘irreversible’ in terms of the knowledge needed to move closer to a nuclear weapons threshold capability.” Iran is now enriching uranium, the key component in a bomb, to the unprecedented level of 60 percent purity, which is close to weapons-grade material. This has coincided with a massive rise in the production of uranium metal, another fissile material.

Since Biden took office and made reentering the 2015 nuclear deal a chief priority, Tehran has also blocked international nuclear inspectors from accessing its most contested sites, including military compounds known to house its weapons program. The Biden administration, Republican leaders say, “failed to have the back of these nuclear inspectors as Tehran increasingly diminished monitoring, limited access, and harassed female inspectors.” None of these provocations resulted in punitive measures from the Biden administration.

The United States’ concessions to Iran have been met with increased violence.

Throughout 2021, Iranian-backed terror groups launched a flurry of regional attacks, including a high-profile assassination attempt on Iraq’s prime minister. The Houthi rebels in Yemen, which are armed and directed by Tehran, also doubled their drone attacks in Saudi Arabia last year after the Biden administration removed the group from the U.S. designated terrorist list. Tehran also continued to seize ships in the Persian Gulf and increased rocket attacks on U.S. positions in Syria.

“Biden’s policy of maximum concessions,” the Republican leaders say, “has only made Iran more aggressive in the region.”

It’s no secret that China wants to surpass the United States in world dominance, yet American elites continue to help the communist’s government’s ambitions rather than treating them as the enemy. In his new book, “Red-Handed,” Peter Schweizer — author of best-sellers such as “Clinton Cash” and “Profiles in Corruption” — outlines the ways top politicians and CEOS get rich off China. In this exclusive excerpt for The Post, he reveals how Big Tech companies have sacrificed privacy and national security in pursuit of Beijing riches.

Blinded by their ambition, Silicon Valley elites are helping Communist China achieve their ultimate goal: “Technology supremacy” over the West.

“Science and technology is a national weapon,” President Xi Jinping has said. “We should seize the commanding heights of technological competition and future development.”

To accomplish this goal, Beijing has created “civilian-military fusion,” which means any technological advance in the civilian market must be applied directly to the military sphere. And they have effectively courted and seduced many powerful people in America’s tech industry to willingly, and sometimes enthusiastically, play along.

In 2015, the Obama Administration held an official State Dinner at the White House for China’s Xi. The East Room was decorated in peach and pink roses. The crowd included two hundred elite guests from the world of government and business. Among them was Mark Zuckerberg, the young-looking cofounder of Facebook, and his wife, Priscilla, who was seven months pregnant. When Zuckerberg finally got his chance to see the guest of honor face-to-face, he made an unusual request: would the communist dictator give his child his Chinese name?

Xi, understandably surprised by the request, declined, saying it was “too great a responsibility.”

It was not the first time the Facebook cofounder had gushed over Chinese officials.

In late 2014, a high-ranking Chinese official named Lu Wei made a trip to Silicon Valley. Lu was a Communist Party hack, the former deputy head of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China. President Xi had recently appointed him to head the “Central Leading Group for Internet Security and Information.” In short, Lu was China’s Internet czar, with the Orwellian job of restricting access to certain ideas and monitoring the flow of information.

The Chinese government had given him plenty of tools to do his job. In 2013, they created a law making it a crime to spread rumors online; if a post deemed untrue received more than five hundred reposts, the original poster could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.

But when Lu visited Facebook’s California headquarters in Menlo Park, Zuckerberg treated him like a VIP. The Facebook head gave him a tour of the new Frank Gehry–designed campus, which boasted the “largest open floor plan in the world.” Later, the two retreated to Zuckerberg’s private office. Lu sat in the CEO’s chair, took a few pictures, and then spotted a familiar book sitting on Zuckerberg’s desk. “The Governance of China” is a 515-page tome containing the speeches and comments of President Xi.

Why was such a book sitting on a capitalist’s desk? Zuckerberg explained to his guest that he bought the book for both himself and his staff as a guide. “I want to make them understand socialism with Chinese characteristics,” he said.

Zuckerberg’s Facebook teamed with Google in 2016 to build an undersea cable that would link San Francisco with Hong Kong, China, and other locations in Asia. The so-called Pacific Light Cable Network would provide better internet and data services to their customers in Asia. But the two American tech superpowers chose to partner with a Chinese company called Dr. Peng Telecom & Media Group to provide the link to Hong Kong.

Dr. Peng was financially backed by the Chinese government’s China Securities Finance Corporation, and worked closely with Huawei and military defense contractors in China. What could possibly go wrong?

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission in 2020 took the unprecedented step of blocking the project. The Facebook-Google cable presented “‘unprecedented opportunities’ for Chinese government espionage,” according to the U.S. Justice Department.

How the tech giants did not see the obvious espionage risk to their plans is a mystery. Or maybe they saw it and did not care.

At the heart of Google’s business strategy is an unquenchable thirst for data, and their dealings in China show they cannot resist tapping any vast resource offered to them.

In 2017, Google announced the opening of an AI research facility in Beijing. The Google AI China Center would include “a small group of researchers supported by several hundred China-based engineers.”

The head of the venture for Google, Fei-Fei Li, explained, “I believe AI and its benefits have no borders.”

The research at the Google AI China Center includes machine learning that would classify, perceive, and predict outcomes based on massive amounts of data. This is precisely the sort of work that military and intelligence officials would want from AI.
Google’s cooperation with China on AI research occurred the same year that the Chinese Communist Party and government laid out its “artificial intelligence development plan.” A report issued by the Chinese government explains that “AI has become a new focus of international competition,” mastering that technology enhances “comprehensive national power,” and that it would lead to the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”

Beijing has declared that passing the United States in artificial intelligence is a “national priority.”

Hunter Biden’s private equity firm invested in a company run by a Chinese executive with ties to officials at some of the highest levels of the Communist Party of China, it emerged on Thursday.

It adds to scrutiny of President’s Biden’s son’s business interests at a time when Republicans are threatening to make him testify in Congress if they take back the House this year.

Emails showed that as recently March 2017, his firm Rosemont Seneca Advisors held a five percent stake in Harves Amusement Parks as well as in interest in Harves Sports and Entertainment.

Their parent company. Harves Century Group, is backed by the state-owned China Development Bank and is headquartered in Shenyang, China, according to Fox Business which revealed the existence of the emails.

They reveal that Biden’s introduction to the Harves Group came in 2015 from Francis Person – who was an adviser to Joe Biden when he was in the Senate, and then from 2009 to 2014 when he was vice president.

In July 2015, Person invited him to visit China the following month to meet Bo Zhang, his business partner.

‘Bo Zhang and his family would host us,’ he wrote in the email.

‘They are a great family with great respect and relationships in China. Bo graduated from American Univ and is in his late 20’s, and his parents own Harves Century Group of Shenyang – which is a top-tier private Chinese real estate development firm.

‘His mom is actually the chairman of the company, which is unique in China.
‘They are very private, and wouldn’t tell anyone about you coming. Bo’s father-in-law is actually the Governor of Hainan (Chinese Hawaii), which he doesn’t advertise at all.’

Person added that his business partner Zhang was ‘being groomed to take over his family’s dynasty.’

But he said he was not trying to sell Biden anything, rather the trip was about growing ‘that relationship’ and ‘there will be plenty of big things that come down the road that we can work on.

He added some stardust to the invitation by adding that Harves was partnering with basketball stars Magic Johnson and LeBron James in 2016 to ‘host an NBA Global Game in China.’

Person started as a bodyman to Sen. Joe Biden and rose to become one of his most trusted confidants as vice president.

When he left his employment, a string of advisers – many of whom now inhabit the upper reaches of the White House – paid tribute to his work.

Dr. Jill Biden told Politico: ‘Fran has been like a son to Joe and me.

‘For eight years, we traveled the country, shared holidays together … Fran may be leaving the office, but he will always be a part of our family.’

Ron Klain, now Biden’s White House chief of staff, and Mike Donilon, now a senior adviser to the president, were among those who spoke in glowing terms at the time.

Person initially left for a job at the University of South Carolina, but by the start of 2015 he was heading up Harves in Washington.

According to his LinkedIn page, he ‘helped guide the formation of the Harves Group headquartered in Washington DC, serving as the U.S. affiliate of Harves.’

Fox Business reported that Hunter Biden was unable to make the planned China trip, but other emails showed that Person and Zhang met with him in Washington, D.C.

Why’s Motor Trend Drinking the Green All Electric Vehicle Kool-Aid?

I have a subscription to Motor Trend magazine. Since the inauguration of Joe Biden I have seen a distinct effort by their writers to go green, like soylent green.

The writers of Motor Trend are trending toward becoming woke personified when it comes to all electric vehicles (EVs). Their 2022 car, truck and SUV of the year are all EVs.

QUESTION: Why has Motor Trend abandoned the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE)?

U.S. consumers use Internal Combustion Engines in:

  • Cars, sport utility vehicles, light trucks, and motorcycles.
  • Recreational vehicles and boats.
  • Small aircraft.
  • Equipment and tools used in construction, farming, forestry, and landscaping.
  • Electricity generators for portable and emergency power supply.

U.S. Companies use Internal Combustion Engines in:

  • Commercial and corporate aircraft.
  • Commercial ships and cruise liners.
  • To run factories, printing presses and other manufacturing equipment to make cars, planes, trucks, trains, batteries, televisions, portable phones, computers and on and on.
  • Farmers use tractors to till the soil, fertilizer made from fossil fuels to grow crops, and trucks and farmers and ranchers use trains to move their goods to local wholesale stores and retail markets for sale.
  • Getting goods, food and medicines, and services, from lawn care to AC maintenance, to consumers requires cheap and reliable transportation.
  • To travel to conferences about climate change.

Now think about all of the people who are employed making parts, accessories, designing and engineering cars, ships, boats, aircraft, finding, producing and distributing fossil fuels all for the above Internal Combustion Engines!

The Cost of All Electric Vehicles

Motor Trend in its January 2022 edition named the yet to be mass produced Lucid all EV sedan as Car of the Year. But why?

In a February 5th, 2020 After Market News article titled “LANG RESEARCH: 36M MORE ICE CARS TO HIT U.S. ROADS BY 2030” the editorial staff reported:

Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) cars and light trucks on U.S. roads will climb by 36 million between now and 2030, despite predictions of their rapid replacement by electric vehicles. That’s according a new report from Lang Marketing Resources, a leading automotive market intelligence firm with more than 30 years of experience in the vehicle products industry.

“Cancel the obituary of the Internal Combustion Vehicle,” said Jim Lang, president and lead author of the report, “they will grow in number in the U.S. throughout the decade.”

The dominant ICE share of vehicles in operation (VIO) going forward, recording an approximate 95% share during 2030, will generate robust aftermarket parts and repair volume in the U.S. for many years.

“Peak ICE, the year when Internal Combustion Engine vehicles reach their maximum number, could arrive as late as 2035,” predicted Lang.

This is at a time when Motor Trend’s Angus MacKenzie in an article about an ICE car, the GMA T.50, ended by saying,

I have a feeling the GMA T.50 [ICE car] may be the last glorious rage against the dying of the internal combustion engine.

Is MacKenzie drinking the Green All EV Kool-Aid? Is he listening to Al Gore, Green New Deal proponent Alexandra-Ocasio Cortez,  Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and Joe Biden more than he’s listening to American consumers?

Drinking the Green Kool-Aid

Motor Trend, by drinking the Green All Electric Vehicle Kool-Aid, will do great damage to individuals, families, communities, states and America.

Batteries are not emissions free and certainly contribute to so called “Climate Change” yet activists who push the persistent, persuasive and unrealistic myths of Climate Change are also advocates for “alternative power sources” including solar, wind and battery powered devices like all electric cars.

Electric Batteries Are Not Zero Emissions Power Sources

There are two orders of batteries, rechargeable, and single use. The most common single-use batteries are A, AA, AAA, C, D. 9V, and lantern types. Those dry-cell species use zinc, manganese, lithium, silver oxide, or zinc and carbon to store electricity chemically. Please note they all contain toxic, heavy metals.  Rechargeable batteries only differ in their internal materials, usually lithium-ion, nickel-metal oxide, and nickel-cadmium.

But that is not half of it. For those of you excited about electric cars and a green revolution, I want you to take a closer look at batteries and windmills and solar panels. These three technologies share what we call environmentally destructive embedded costs.”

He paused, “I weigh one thousand pounds, and as you see, I am about the size of a travel trunk.” NM’s lights showed he was serious. “I contain twenty-five pounds of lithium, sixty pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds cobalt, 200 pounds of copper, and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic. Inside me are 6,831 individual lithium-ion cells.

It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each auto battery like me, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just – one – battery.”

He let that one sink in, then added, “I mentioned disease and child labor a moment ago. Here’s why. Sixty-eight percent of the world’s cobalt, a significant part of a battery, comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution controls, and they employ children who die from handling this toxic material. Should we factor in these diseased kids as part of the cost of driving an electric car?”

“Finally,” he said, “I’d like to leave you with these thoughts. California is building the largest battery in the world near San Francisco, and they intend to power it from solar panels and windmills. They claim this is the ultimate in being ‘green,’ but it is not! This construction project is creating an environmental disaster. Let me tell you why.

The main problem with solar arrays is the chemicals needed to process silicate into the silicon used in the panels. To make pure enough silicon requires processing it with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride, trichloroethane, and acetone. In addition, they also need gallium, arsenide, copper-indium-gallium-diselenide, and cadmium-telluride, which also are highly toxic. Silicon dust is a hazard to the workers, and the panels cannot be recycled.

Windmills are the ultimate in embedded costs and environmental destruction. Each weighs 1688 tons (the equivalent of 23 houses) and contains 1300 tons of concrete, 295 tons of steel, 48 tons of iron, 24 tons of fiberglass, and the hard to extract rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium. Each blade weighs 81,000 pounds and will last 15 to 20 years, at which time it must be replaced. We cannot recycle used blades. Sadly, both solar arrays and windmills kill birds, bats, sea life, and migratory insects.

Going green has a cost that no one is talking about. Motor Trend is working hard to push EVs but to what end?

In the same January 2022 edition of Motor Trend was an article on the Rivian R1T off-road EV. The article notes that in order to power their test vehicle Rivian “donated chargers to many of the hotels and campgrounds along the [test] route.”

That’s one of many issues with EVs, getting their battery charged.

The Bottom Line

ICE vehicles will continue to trump all EV vehicles. Here are some reasons for this prediction:

  1. EV vehicles, even with government subsidies, are too expensive for the working class.
  2. EVs take too long to charge up.
  3. EVs have major problems especially when the battery in them goes bad, e.g. a Tesla owner’s battery needed to be replaced at a cost of $23,000. Compare this to $60 for an ICE vehicle.
  4. EV charging stations are still to few and to far between to be practical.
  5. EV manufacturers, even those like Mercedes, Audi, Porsha, Ford, Chevrolet, GM, aren’t seeing a large enough customer base to make selling EVs profitable. Certainly not enough EV customers to abandon manufacturing ICE vehicles.
  6. You still need electricity to power your EV much of which comes from power plants that are driven by coal, oil and natural gas. In China, the country with largest number of EVs, gets the majority of its electricity from 1,082 coal fired power plants. BTW, America is third in the world with 252 active coal fired power plants.
  7. No electricity then no power to charge your EV. Just look at the blackouts in California to see the future of going green.

Paige Lambermont in an article titled “California Will Continue to Reap the Blackouts It Sows” reported:

It doesn’t take an engineer to see the worrying trend towards electrical deficit brewing over the horizon as blackouts already hamper the state.

One major cause of the rise in usage of wind and solar power in California is the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) which requires that by 2030 all “electric load-serving entities” procure 60 percent of their electricity from renewables, and that by 2045 that share becomes 100 percent. Because of this requirement, utilities use far more of these intermittent resources, resources that although “greener” are less reliable, than they otherwise would. To compensate, California cycles their baseload resources up and down as the sun ceases to shine or the wind ceases to blow, making blackouts more likely.

California imported nearly one-third of its electricity from other states in 2018. This is all fine and good when neighboring states have power to spare, but when they don’t their own capacity needs are fulfilled first.

Lambermont concluded with this warning,

If actions are not immediately taken to both keep current reliable baseload capacity, and remove legal limitations on the construction of new ones, both nuclear and natural gas, then California’s current power predicament may become a regular occurrence.

Without a major tidal shift in California energy policy, this problem is not currently destined to right itself.
