Louisiana Senator John Kennedy spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation’s Samantha Renck about the ongoing border crisis, his thoughts on Vice President Kamala Harris’ role in addressing the immigration crisis, and more.
“Of course, President [Joe] Biden says we can’t call it a crisis. How about a category 5 hurricane?” Kennedy, who recently visited the southern border with 18 other U.S. Senators, said of what he saw. “I’m not sure there are words in English.”
“It’s thousands and thousands of people flooding in,” he said.
Kennedy also discussed Harris’ role handling the root causes of the immigration crisis.
“Putting the vice president in charge of solving this problem is like making El Chapo the drug czar,” he said.

You’ve heard of theatre of the absurd? Well, here’s some more: the Daily Wire reported Friday that “a Minnesota suburban theater canceled its production of ‘Cinderella,’ citing that the cast had too many white actors.” Whiteness is the root of all evil these days, and Minnesota, what with its winsome Rep. Ilhan Omar, is a national epicenter of white shame, but this is over the top even for the Hating Whitey industry.
According to the Daily Wire, “Chanhassen Dinner Theatres announced on its website that the production of ‘Cinderella’ was not aligned with its current diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Instead of recasting the production to include more people of color, the theater opted to nix the production entirely.”
Now wait a minute. “Hamilton” was just a huge hit on Broadway with a predominantly non-white cast, and the intelligentsia was thrilled. So why not win a few Social Credit points by casting a few “people of color” in key roles in “Cinderella,” rather than filling up the cast with colorless oppressors?
The problem with doing that may have lain with “Cinderella” itself. After all, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres couldn’t very well cast black actresses in the roles of the wicked stepsisters; that would reinforce some racist trope or other. And even Cinderella herself couldn’t be a black actress, for then the Prince would be her “white savior.” Can’t have that. How about making the Prince a “person of color” as well? That would still leave Cinderella as a servant before she is magically raised out of poverty, and if Gone with the Wind is not acceptable today, then that wouldn’t be, either.
What if the Prince were a person of color but Cinderella were white? No, that would be the hand of kindness extended to the oppressor who is rightly and justly humiliated after enriching herself for centuries on the backs of oppressed people of other races. It would also depict an interracial love affair, which, if you haven’t been keeping up, is now racist among the woke crowd, warming the cold hearts of Democrats such as Orval Faubus, Bull Connor, and other segregationists down through American history.
And thus the plug had to be pulled. “After careful consideration and with our ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has made the decision to cancel our upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” the theater said in a statement. “Our hope in beginning the production process again with a new title will allow us to put into practice an intentional process based on the work we have been doing towards equity and inclusivity.”
The theater announced that it was offering a paid position to a person of color who would help them make their productions “anti-racist.” The theater statement added: “We believe this new process will allow us to tell the story in a rich way and allow us to live out our commitment to identity-conscious casting and becoming a more intentionally anti-racist theater.”
However brilliant and talented the new hire may be, that will prove to be impossible. There is no production of “Cinderella” or anything else today that is not vulnerable to cancellation by the woke fascists, because their criteria for what is acceptably non-racist are fluid, malleable, shifting, and opportunistic. If they decide to target and destroy you, they will target and destroy you. If they have to misrepresent your intentions and twist your words to do so, they will. If they have to put a negative and indeed sinister spin on actions that were completely innocuous, like the casting of a musical set in Europe with people of European descent, they will.
This is by now a tried and tested tactic on the left. It was first employed in the highly successful effort to stigmatize, demonize, and render toxic anyone who dared to oppose jihad violence and Sharia oppression. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s smearing of these people as “hate group leaders,” and their highly tendentious dossiers on them, made up of statements ripped from their context and willfully misrepresented, established a paradigm for the left that is summed up by the famous Miranda Rights statement: Anything you say can and will be used against you.
The management of Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has shown its awareness of this tactic by preemptively canceling their production before it could be accused of being “racist.” But no matter. Whatever show is being put on in the theater down the road will be branded as “racist” next, if the woke fascists choose it for a target, and however absurd the charge may be, they’ll make it stick.

On March 2, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced he was lifting all government restrictions aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Abbott’s decision caused a stir among politicians and public health experts, though numerous other states had been operating without restrictions for months.
“Governor Abbott’s failure to listen to science and medical advice will cost Texans their lives,” Rep. Joaquin Castro warned in a statement. “The easiest thing everyone can do to slow the spread of COVID is to wear a mask and keep a social distance.”
“These states’ lifting of measures … are quite premature,” Jennifer Nuzzo, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, told the BBC.
“They’re trying to do a good job of keeping everybody safe. Of course they want to open up. But getting rid of masks just seems ignorant to me,” said San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
Nearly a month after Abbott’s announcement, the data are in.
“Coronavirus cases have dropped to a record low in Texas roughly three weeks after the state lifted its mask mandate and reopened businesses,” Newsweek reports.
The news magazine was referencing new data touted by Abbott showing that the Lone Star state saw its 7-day COVID positivity rate, the percent of tests coming in positive, hit a new low—4.95 percent—while hospitalizations reached a six-month low.

“According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, at least 1,900 new virus cases were reported on Sunday, which is the lowest daily number the state has seen since early June,” Newsweek reports. “Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the seven-day moving average number of cases in Texas dropped to the lowest level since mid-June.”
Texas’s numbers are encouraging, but they are not particularly unique.
The same day Abbott made his announcement, Mississippi declared that it too was lifting all state restrictions. Mississippi’s case pattern looks markedly similar to Texas’s.
Lockdown proponents are losing the data war.

Despite the widespread warnings that Texas and Mississippi were needlessly risking the lives of their citizens, both states saw cases and deaths decline after lifting all restrictions. Why?
One answer might be that residents in Texas and Mississippi continued to take sensible precautions, as public health officials in these states recommended.
For example, Thomas Dobbs, Mississippi’s state health officer, urged people to continue to use discretion and exercise caution despite the absence of legal restrictions.
“Do stuff outdoors, don’t group together indoors with a lot of folks,” Dobbs said at a press conference with the governor when it was announced restrictions were ending. “You can catch COVID. And we can mess this up.”
From the beginning of the pandemic, there was a fear that Americans wouldn’t exercise caution and prudence absent the heavy hand of force. But this concern was always overblown. Evidence shows Americans were taking precautions well before government officials imposed sweeping restrictions.
“Americans living in red states appear to have taken the crisis plenty seriously; data shows that residents there were staying home well before their governors issued stay-at-home orders,” FiveThirtyEight pointed out back in May, citing research from Cuebiq, a private data company that assessed the movement of people via GPS data.
This suggests that people are more than capable of taking precautions—maintaining space, washing hands, wearing a mask—that they feel are reasonable without being forced.
Using force in the case of the pandemic seemed natural to many because it sprang from a desire to protect people from a deadly virus, but this was a mistake.
“Whenever we depart from voluntary cooperation and try to do good by using force, the bad moral value of force triumphs over good intentions,” the Nobel Laureate economist Milton Friedman observed in his book Is Capitalism Humane?
The data coming out of Texas and Mississippi (as well as Florida) are yet more evidence that the benefits of this force have been oversold. An abundance of research suggests lockdowns achieve very little (if anything); meanwhile, their harms are clear (though often ignored by lockdown proponents).
It’s time Americans recognized that lockdowns are policies born of fear that have caused irreparable damage: economic destruction, surging suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and increased poverty.
Fortunately, because of the system of federalism, which distributes power across the states, this truth is finally being revealed. Soon, it will be recognized.
“All truth passes through three stages,” the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer reputedly said (perhaps apocryphally). “First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.”
The failure of lockdowns and other various government restrictions are still in stage two. But stage three is rapidly approaching.

Conservative actress Gina Carano was cancel-cultured—politically fired—by Disney for posting a tweet about the Holocaust that identified the preliminary steps taken by the Nazis prior to sending soldiers to round up the Jews. At first, “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors … even by children,” her post accurately stated.
In laying the groundwork that led to millions of Jews being hauled off to concentration camps, Hitler’s henchmen launched a relentless campaign to dehumanize the Jews as morally reprehensible people, thereby conditioning ordinary Germans to hate the Jews and blame them for the nation’s problems. Carano asked how such hatred of the Jews was any different than Democrats hating conservatives for their political views.
Officially-incited hatred led many Germans to believe they’d been given a green light to attack their Jewish neighbors. With the Jews dehumanized, otherwise decent Germans stood by and said nothing as Hitler launched his Final Solution.

It is very difficult to understand the deep roots of communism in our Florida schools because the “educators” are very careful not to use word communism. The American approach to education uses the scientific method of deductive reasoning where by many theories are tried until the unknown outcome emerges. The communist approach uses the Pavlov/Skinner method whereby the desired outcome is known and theory is designed to fit the outcome. This process is called Outcome Based Education (OBE) aka Mastery Learning aka Training. We see this communist method used in Critical Race Theory, 1619 project and BLM curricula where the outcome must be: America is racist and “Whiteness” is the problem.
All of America’s problems today can be traced back to the 45 Goals of Communism read into the Congressional Record on Jan 10, 1963. by Rep Herlong (D-FL). The purpose of this reading was to serve as a reference and reminder showing the intent of the communists in their constant quest to transform America into a communist country. The Goals are from Cleon Skousen, researcher and author of “The Naked Communist.” These goals have been adopted by the Democrat Party and have been implemented across America. Goals 17-32 are a direct assault on American history, values, culture and religion using the public school system as the transmitter of this propaganda. Communist Goals – 1963 Congressional Record.
The purpose of this shift to communism was to ensure an underclass. Communists will not tolerate competition and free thinking. All products, distribution, and activity must belong to the state. This is accomplished in the name of fairness. “Dumbing” the population is the objective. In the 1989, education was changed from educating students for life to training students to work, from individualism to collectivism, from fact based to feelings and emotions. Nov 2, 1989 Governor Association on Education – Gov Bill Clinton presiding, GWH Bush 41 President a presentation was given by Shirley McCune from the McRel Foundation. Shirley believed that students were human capital and must only be trained to work. Individual life in not important only the group matters.
Whistleblower, Charlotte Iserbyt documented her findings when she was Senior Policy Analyst under President Reagan and wrote about the process to be used to accomplish this goal called Outcome Based Education, aka Mastery Learning.
The implementation of these goals in Florida schools is in violation of Florida Statute 876.01.
Communism forces humans to be the same which is totally against natural human instincts. Sameness eliminates natural instincts of curiosity, innovation and exploration. Humans are reduced to objects.
Will we soon follow the Nazi method of Tattooing numbers on their captives to track them. FYI: The tattoo registry was created and tracked by IBM.
Nameless, faceless individuals become property to be used and abused. The group not the individual is dominant. When individual destiny is chosen by the government, humans need a replacement to fill the need to feel important. Drugs, tattoos, piercing, drinking, and sex are used for replacement. How do you normalize this behavior – school, (Goal #17, 26,27)? Instead of sex ed being focused on hygiene and biology, and loving relationships, texts now teach explicitly how to have sex – with any age person or any gender. If used outside of school, these books and methods would be considered pornography.
The Obama administration through SOE Duncan gave grants to local media centers to include pop culture. Instead of including Pop Culture, Classics were replaced by POP Culture pornography which can be viewed by any age student. Today the communists proudly proclaim “WAP” by Cardi B, performed at the Grammy’s is the Best song of 2020.
In 2018, the Florida Citizens Alliance conducted a review of this objectionable material which did nothing more than “normalize” inappropriate sexual activity under the guise of “Sex-Ed” in violation of Florida Statutes.
By shifting the focus of the 3 R’s, learning facts, individual responsibility, and deductive reasoning (the scientific method) to sight, feelings, collectivism, and outcome based responses students are ill prepared for the challenges life demands. Due to the “grading on a curve” system adopted by many Departments of education, parents are often fooled by the letter grade their district receives. Depending on the curve,districts can receive an “A” grade when only 55% of the students are proficient in reading or math. Graduating students now enter college or the work place needing remediation and are often unable to follow simple directions. Mediocrity is evident throughout government and business decisions. When everything in your life is preplanned by someone else the human desire to be important, or successful becomes so frustrating that students often turn to drugs, sex or suicide. Students now trained to fit a particular job become apathetic while learning to shine by having sex any place, any time, with anyone. Enough sexual indoctrination will start a dangerous trend of sexual addiction and lead to more rape and sexual abuse.

As Communist Goals #17,25,26 are practiced and sex is “normalized” in school will sex addiction become the new excuse for horrific behavior?
When student feel their lives have no purpose, because they can’t control their own destiny, they feel hopeless and must replace that feeling with something. Because factual information aka truth is missing, and students are no longer “educated” to be able to make common sense decisions they turn on their emotions. Students are taught to be victims and focus their anger visually and emotionally on race. These curricula changes encourage students to blame someone else for their plight while turning to school sanctioned sex and hatred. Sex “feels” good, drugs “feel” good and brilliant minds are hopelessly lost. The destruction of American values through culture shifts from Freedom and Liberty as laid out in the US Constitution, and through the teaching of morality by belief in family, G-d and Country are initiated. By knowing history we learn that if not stopped, the transformation of America to hatred, rioting, racism, drugs and sex will follow. We have the right statutes in Florida to put a stop to the degradation. I support Gov DeSantis and his effort to implement them.

This email I received from a Geller Report reader shows how totalitarian the system already is, and with Covid it’s rapidly getting worse.
Hello Pamela,
My name is Lisa Amorosi. I was a 27 year Veteran at my local hospital (Glens Falls Hospital) in Glens Falls, NY. I started there in 1993, and was Terminated December 1,2020 after they changed Policy in 2020 mandating every employee receive a flu vaccination and stating that the only exception would be a NYS medical exemption letter from our own Doctors. As I and many others like myself had medical reasons and documentation why this vaccine was not for our medical highest good, we obtained the required NYS Medical exemption formed signed by our doctors.
The Hospital Center of Occupational Health then denied these letters over ruling our doctors exemptions. We were told that we had until December 1,2020 to get the shot or resign. I advised them that I would do neither. They then bullied and harassed us by not only threatening us by us loosing our jobs, they expected us to choose our job over our own health??? This is a health facility that is no longer concerned about individual health??? What? They are now in the wrong business!
About 5 years ago, NYS passed a law that would now mandate (never before) any health care worker to wear a mask once the CDC “deemed” it official flu season unless they chose to get the flu shot then no mask would be required. There are basically 4 kinds people prior to this mandate –
1- didn’t get them for medical reasons
2- didn’t for personal reasons
3- didn’t for Religious reasons
4- could careless either way (but now got the flu vax because they didn’t want to wear a mask)So for the past 5 years I choose not to get the flu vax due to 3 different years in past of trying it and I had compromising health quality of life for 8-10 months out of the year all 3 years I had received this flu vax.
So myself and others that chose not to get the flu shot for whatever reason have been wearing the mask for about 6 months out of the year for past 5 years. But this year (2020) we were all in masks
anyway, hence the policy change? What? Now the masks do not work for flu? This is now about money flo and kick back! Saratoga Hospital (in NY) and Glens Falls Hospital (GFH) are partnered with Albany Medical center (in NY). Saratoga has been since 2011 ish but GFH only 2020.
Per Albany medical staff that hospital has mandated the flu vax for years or termination (I did not know this until this until after my termination) but Saratoga Hospital along with GFH adopted this policy 2020 as per pressure from Albany Med. but Albany Med. denies this.
Either way, to my point this is not only unethical for a health care not to care about individual health. It is now discrimination. As I and others like me can no longer work at any of these places. Not to mention what a HIPPA violation on our medical information it was that for years due to having to wear a different color sticker on our badges to signify who had the flu shot and who didn’t (because the mask wasn’t obvious enough) but we didn’t even realize what was happening with this segregation until this “plandemic”
And now I can’t unsee it! People need to wake up and know what is really going on! The local news (Post Star of Glens falls) had my story on front page but like most media these days they didn’t report the real story of the Facility Denying our medical exemptions. They reported me getting fired over the flu shot after 27 years employment and how it was before Christmas so they made me out like Tiny Tim and the Cratchit aboys.
Yes the hospital made us go to an allergist (Worked for partner Saratoga Hospital) and Basically if you didn’t have anaphylactic shock right out of gate.. you were not qualified for exemption.. I was told “I didn’t fit in the box” because my symptoms lasted all year so there was no test for me. They would not give me an exemption even though they believed me and said “I didn’t fit in the box”. I was offered the flu shot by my employer in several smaller doses?? What aren’t they getting? My health matters , I am the one taking care of me and my boys! I was told “do your part by keeping the community safe”. I am the community and “doing your part” comes in many different forms it’s not a one size fits all. I did what I needed to do for my own health so I could continue to serve the community. I got let go because I had to honor my truth and my well being. I am still unemployed and sadly the Medical field has now discriminated where myself and others like me can work based on a flu shot and our own medical needs. The medical field is no longer in it for medical reasons and peoples individual health. It has gone Dark for money, power and greed!
This is NOT acceptable and the Truth NEEDS TO BE TOLD!!

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed to issue an executive order banning local Florida governments and businesses from requiring “vaccine passports.”
“We are not supporting doing any vaccine passports in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said on Monday. “It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society.”

The Monday announcement comes after it was reported the Biden administration is working to develop vaccine credentials so the public would be able to show proof of vaccination following the pandemic.
“Our role is to help ensure that any solutions in this area should be simple, free, open source, accessible to people both digitally and on paper, and designed from the start to protect people’s privacy,” White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients said during a March 12 briefing.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki addressed the issue on Monday and said that the development of such a program “will be driven by the private sector.”
State leaders such as DeSantis, however, said any such program would come with “huge privacy implications” and isn’t needed.
“You want the fox to guard the henhouse? I mean, give me a break. I think this is something that has huge privacy implications,” DeSantis added on Monday. “It is not necessary to do.”

The Biden administration is spending $3 million dollars a day to house migrants at a detention center in Dilley, Texas, where the number of people from Russia and the Middle East crossing the border from Mexico is growing at an alarming rate, DailyMail.com has learned.
Even more alarming, officials are being forced to ‘catch and release’ undocumented immigrants without properly vetting them, according to an official at the facility.
The South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley is currently housing about 1,500 migrants at a cost of approximately $2,000 per person per day.
The facility, the largest immigration detention in the US, can hold a maximum of 2,400 detainees and was originally intended to house mainly women and children seeking asylum.
Russian and Middle Eastern migrants are becoming more and more frequent, joining the caravan from Mexico to cross into the United States along with Mexicans and Americans.
But due to the surgeof migrants at the border, officials say it has now become an ‘intake and release center for illegal immigrant families’ including men, who are being welcomed into the country after 72 hours to await their court dates.
‘It’s nothing more than catch and release,’ a facility official, who wished to remain anonymous, told DailyMail.com.

Officials at the facility say they have now been forced to take in men due to the recent surge in migration and are seeing more than 150 families arrive daily

The 55-acre detention center is located off I-35 in a small Texas town with a population of 4,000. It is owned by Tennessee-based company, Core Civic, which manages private prisons and detention centers across 19 states, with a reported revenue of $1.98billion in 2019.
The inside source says the facility is also seeing an influx of immigrants from all parts of the world, not just Central and South American countries.
‘Previously we’d get immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, but in the last few months we’ve had immigrants from Russia, Iraq, Syria, Vietnam, Romania, Haiti,’ the source said.

But now, due to the influx of people, the maximum time migrants are kept in the center is three days before being released into the United States with an immigration court date in hand.
The process has sparked security concerns at the center, where officials are no longer able to properly screen migrants or verify their identities in their rush to process everyone.
‘Because the turnaround time is so short, the immigrants aren’t being vetted before they are released,’ the source said.
‘Our government doesn’t really know who they are releasing into our society. When these immigrant families come in from Russia, Syria and Iraq, some of them could be terrorists.
‘When these men come into our facility with women and children, we have no proof any of them are actually related. Often they don’t have documentation so we have to take their word on their name, age, nationality, etc. They could be anyone, child predators, traffickers, terrorists.’
‘The entire immigration system is overwhelmed right now. ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] is just trying to move people through the system as fast as possible,’ the source added.
‘We have more people than we can handle. It’s a crisis situation, everyone is overworked.’

The COVID-19 pandemic has also complicated matters now that officials have to administer tests to every arrival.
‘When immigrants arrive at the facility they are given a COVD-19 test before they even step off the bus,’ the source said.
‘If they test positive they are taken to the medical unit. About 10 per cent of them test positive, and aren’t released until they have a negative test.’
All girls over the age of 10 are also required to take a pregnancy test. Pregnant girls and women are then sent to the medical unit and hospital for more treatment.
According to the official, the center has seen girls as young as 12 produce a positive pregnancy test.
The immigrants are then are photographed and fingerprinted. ICE officials conduct a background check on each one of them, they can find out if someone has been arrested before in the United States, but it takes days to do a thorough background check.
‘Three days isn’t enough time to run a background on these immigrants before releasing them into the United States.
‘The Border Patrol brings in the immigrants immediately after they are detained. They come in dirty, hungry and often smell. We have them take a shower and provide clean clothing for them. There are medical and dental facilities on premises for the immigrants.
‘Most of the immigrants who arrive don’t have any paperwork when they arrive. They say they’ve either lost it or it was stolen from them. So we have to take their word for it when they give us their name, age and nationality. But we have no way of checking them out, unless something comes back from their fingerprint check.

Fresh from its racism controversy, the hard-left propaganda organ Teen Vogue (“Get ’em while they’re young” is apparently the motto) appears to be going for a death fatwa, publishing an article Friday entitled “Queer Muslim Heroes to Celebrate This Muslim Women’s Day,” by Zainab Almatwari. Almatwari is a Muslim, but clearly one with views so heterodox that she could easily arouse the murderous ire of many of her coreligionists around the globe. Teen Vogue is doubtless oblivious to the risk it is taking in publishing such an article; the chance to advance “Islamophobia” victimhood propaganda was just too good to pass up.
“Many people,” Almatwari informs us, “might not think to put ‘queer’ and ‘Muslim’ in the same sentence. The two identities, some think, are like water and oil.” She doesn’t explain why this perception exists but gives the strong impression that the problem comes from “Islamophobes” who misunderstand the truly benign and progressive teachings of the cuddly Religion of Peace: “But despite being left unrecognized, queer Muslims exist, and I am proof. In my journey to better understanding my identity, seeing and learning from other queer Muslims have been incredibly validating and reassuring. So, just to remind you that we’re here, we’re queer, and we’re not going anywhere, I compiled a list of queer Muslim heroes.”
“We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re not going anywhere” is sloganeering that gay individuals and groups have used in the West to rebuke and defy alleged “homophobia.” Few, if any, have ever dared to chant this slogan on the streets of Riyadh or Tehran or Lahore, not because those cities and others in the Islamic world are welcoming and accepting of “queer Muslims,” but because those who would do such a thing would be putting themselves immediate danger of death.
Almatwari is also writing in Teen Vogue, where “Islamophobia” in the U.S. is a much larger concern than Sharia-inspired violence against gays in Islamic states. She is not writing in a publication with wide distribution among Muslims, or that is devoted to issues of concern to Muslims. All this makes it likely that the people she thinks need reminding of the “queer Muslim” presence are non-Muslim Americans, not doctrinaire imams and their followers.
Almatwari also complains that “being a queer Muslim seems too complex for the world to handle.” But is it, really? Here again, she doesn’t specify exactly what part of “the world” she has in mind. Would anyone in America really care if Zainab Almatwari informed them that she was a “queer Muslim”? Some Christians would likely try to explain to her that she was on the wrong path; some might even be rude about it. But it is very unlikely that any of them would threaten her. In the Muslim community, however, that likelihood is far greater. Now, why is that?
“Tayah,” writes Almatwari, “is another Queer Muslim woman whose fight against societal standards is far from conventional. Our friendship started with a compliment of each other’s Hijabs and grew quickly to deep discussions about how Queer Muslim figures existed in all Muslim spaces thousands of years ago.” And what happened to them?
Because the left has deemed it “Islamophobia” to discuss the motivating ideology behind jihad violence and Sharia oppression, Teen Vogue wouldn’t dream of telling you that the primary reason why “queer Muslims” are threatened is because of the Islamic holy book: “As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify, then confine them to their houses until death takes them, or Allah finds another way for them.” (Qur’an 4:15)
This explanation of that passage is attributed to Muhammad’s companion Ibn Abbas: “The early ruling was confinement, until Allah sent down Surat An-Nur (sura 24) which abrogated that ruling with the ruling of flogging (for fornication) or stoning to death (for adultery).” If a woman is found guilty of adultery, she is to be stoned to death; if she is found guilty of fornication, she gets 100 lashes (cf. 24:2).”
A later tradition has one of the people who are identified as Muhammad’s companions observing, “When the revelation descended upon the Messenger of Allah, it would affect him and his face would show signs of strain. One day, Allah sent down a revelation to him, and when the Messenger was relieved of its strain, he said, ‘Take from me: Allah has made some other way for them. The married with the married, the unmarried with the unmarried. The married gets a hundred lashes and stoning to death, while the unmarried gets a hundred lashes then banishment for a year.’”
Teen Vogue would never dare tell you any of this, for fear of being considered “Islamophobic.” Instead, it implies that the only problems “queer Muslims” face are from racist, redneck, “Islamophobic” yahoos in the U.S. As such, they are leading both non-Muslim and Muslim girls down a very risky path. Risky in innumerable ways.

The very real controversies of America’s 2021 have conjured up the fictional dystopia of George Orwell’s 1984. The right condemns Big Tech as an incipient Big Brother—surveying citizens and suppressing disapproved thought. The left replies that Donald Trump is the true Orwellian threat. After all, he lies!
These spirited disagreements conceal an important consensus. Most Americans agree that the totalitarianism depicted in 1984 is bad and that we must beware of letting that nightmare vision become a reality in our own country. Our commitment to preserving freedom, then, invites us to consider the basis of this totalitarianism. In other words, we need to ask: what must the citizens be like to permit such a tyranny to arise?
In Orwell’s classic novel, Oceania’s totalitarianism rests on compulsory atheism. Oceania is ruled by “the Party,” which forbids religion to its members. Religious belief is one of the “crimes” to which Winston Smith, the hero of 1984, confesses under torture—along with sexual perversion and admiration of capitalism. The Party has to forbid religious belief because atheism is both the moral and metaphysical basis of its absolute power.
Atheism is the moral basis of the Party’s unlimited hold on its own members because it makes them terrified of death as absolute nonexistence. Like any government, the Party in 1984 has the power to kill disobedient subjects. Party members, however, view death not just as the end of bodily life, but as a complete erasure of their being—their thoughts, their words, their affections, their deeds. Winston Smith muses that the “terrible” thing about the Party is its ability to make you vanish, such that “neither you nor your actions were ever heard of again. You were lifted clean out of the stream of history.”
Yet the Party does not demand atheism of everybody. The “proles”—the proletarians, the workers—are permitted religious belief. As the Party teaches, “proles and animals are free.” Being free from dogmatic atheism, the proles are also free to believe in the intrinsic value of their own intentions and actions, even in the face of death. For the proles, as for the people who had lived before the revolution that ushered in Oceania’s totalitarian state, “a completely helpless gesture, an embrace, a tear, a word spoken to a dying man, could have value in itself.” Thus the proles, Winston observes, had “stayed human.”
In contrast, members of the Party view death as absolute defeat, from which the only escape is total submission to the Party, which alone is immortal. This, as the Party official O’Brien instructs Winston, is the basis of the Party’s seemingly contradictory slogan, “freedom is slavery.” As an individual—“alone” and “free”—the “human being is always defeated,” because “every human being is doomed to die, which is the greatest of failures.” The only path of salvation, then, is “complete, utter submission” to the Party. Only if an individual can “escape from his identity,” only “if he can merge himself into the Party so that he is the Party,” can he become “all-powerful and immortal.”
Atheism is also the metaphysical basis of 1984’s totalitarian regime. It underwrites the philosophic understanding of reality on which the Party’s unlimited power rests.
The Party insists on teaching its members that there is no external, objective reality apart from subjective human consciousness. This is the lesson Winston has to learn the hard way (under torture) after trying to think for himself. Trying to think for yourself implies that there is something “out there” for you to think about, some “truth” that you might be able to find, on the basis of which you might be able to critique approved opinion.
This the Party strenuously denies, as O’Brien labours to teach Winston. “Nothing exists except through human consciousness.” “Outside man there is nothing.” “Reality is inside your skull.” “You must get rid of those nineteenth-century ideas about the laws of nature. We make the laws of nature.”
Because there is no external, objective reality to which all human beings must conform, the Party gets to decide what is “real.” “Sanity,” Winston comes to believe, is “statistical.” That is, sanity means not seeing what is actually there but seeing what everybody else sees, which is what the Party is able to make them see. “Whatever the Party holds to be truth is truth. It is impossible to see reality except by looking through the eyes of the Party.”
Unbelief in any external, objective reality gives the Party absolute power over the minds of its members. Or, to put it another way, this unbelief secures the abject intellectual slavishness of Party members, their willingness to accept whatever the Party hands out to them, however absurd it may be on its face, however obviously it contradicts what the Party has said previously. This philosophy is the basis of one of the Party’s other famous slogans: “Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past.”
Since there is no objective reality, the past has no real existence, and the Party can make it be whatever it decides it to be. As O’Brien forces Winston to concede, the past does not exist in any place where one could go and confirm its characteristics. You could try to say that it exists in records, but the Party can revise all records. You could try to say that it exists in people’s memories, but the Party can falsify people’s memories through misinformation and intimidation.
1984 thus confronts us with a radical and very significant suggestion: without God as the eternal, omnipotent observer, there is no objective reality. Many have argued that without God there can be no fixed moral principles. Orwell’s great work goes further, raising the possibility that without God there cannot even be “facts” in any meaningful, reliable sense.
Think about it. Suppose I spill some water on the pavement on a hot summer day. It is gone in just a few moments—evaporated. Can I insist that it was really there? Where is the evidence of it now? If there is no eternity, if there is nothing but ceaseless flux, then every human life—and, indeed, every human civilisation and the whole human past—is on the level of that quickly evaporated water. These things appear for a moment and, once gone, no longer exist. Thus we may claim them to be whatever we want, or even deny that they existed at all. Or, to be more accurate, those who have power can impose these claims and denials on the rest of us.
For decades—for centuries, in fact—many allegedly profound thinkers have proclaimed to the world that they were promoting enlightenment and the liberty of the mind by discrediting belief in God and the afterlife. Orwell’s 1984, however, invites us to consider whether such thinkers have really been destroying the basis of freedom and laying the groundwork for unprecedented despotism.

Anthony Esolen: It’s not necessary to point at individuals, but that “rainbow” flag, which stands for the whole sexual revolution, must go.
The Vatican recently declined to permit Catholic clergy to bless same-sex unions, averting an immediate and world-wide schism. No one should be surprised; relieved, perhaps, but not surprised. The Vatican has declined to overturn the whole of Scriptural anthropology as regards the sexes, not to mention any coherent view of Creation itself – of the formal order imprinted with the wisdom of God.
Meanwhile, the world rolls on.
In the space of a few hours, I first heard the critics for Turner Classic Movies defending old films, though they were sometimes compromised by their racism-sexism-homophobia-transphobia. The critics spoke as if no decent person could take issue with the now settled moral wisdom that equates them all, and heaps them all together with the same reproach.
Then, I heard of two middle-school boys chosen to portray gay lovers in a school play. And of a young boy, in another school, set to sing a crude song about getting an erection when he looks at a certain girl in class.
Threesomes are everywhere in the news. I doubt whether there is a single public school in the nation that does not fly the rainbow flag, here, there, everywhere, in textbooks, in lesson plans, in reading assignments, and on the lapels of the teachers.
Wickedness, said Edmund Burke, is too clever to appear in the same form always. Our passions – pride, envy, wrath, lust, avarice – remain the same, but they move from fashion to fashion. That is why man so often attacks forms that have largely passed away. Gibbeting the carcass, Burke called it.
Nor do the new forms attract monsters alone. I am sure there were plenty of nice people who raised the swastika in their homes, not really hating Jews, but content to be swept along with the new, the ground-breaking, the Autobahn-building, the Germany-reviving, the right-thinking leaders of opinion.
I am sure there were plenty of nice people in Stalinist Russia, who raised the hammer and sickle in their homes, not really hating the Ukrainians or the recalcitrant Orthodox, but content to be swept along with the new, and so forth. The desire to get decent work, or to keep your job, or to be approved by the right-thinking leaders of opinion can do the trick and not require any great degree of courage in evil.
I am not saying that the Rainbow is the same as the swastika or the hammer and sickle. Of course it is not. I am not saying that it is just as bad: when we are dealing with fundamental evils, the question has no meaning. Was worshiping Baal just as bad as worshiping Moloch? While we quarrel over style in lust or hate, the principles themselves, Baal and Moloch, enjoy some flaming spiritual cognac and clink their glasses together. And Baal has slain his millions, too.
I have no desire to point at individuals. I have much sympathy for people who, in this intensely lonely time, catch at a same-sex relationship as at some last hope. But the Rainbow stands for the whole sexual revolution.
I am not talking about sexual sin, which we will always have with us, as we will always have lies, thievery, murder, blasphemy, and treachery. The sexual revolution is not a weed. It is a tree: planted with deliberation, watered and tended. It is not an aggregate of sins or bad habits. It is a principle bearing evil fruit.
The principle is that of bodily autonomy: what consenting adults do sexually is their business and no one else’s. Add romantic passion to sweeten the principle, add feminism to obscure the truth that men are for women and women are for men, wait a few decades for tastes to change, and you have the whole sequoia.
It was not gay people who mostly planted and fertilized that tree, though they lent their sweat to it too. But it does not matter how the tree came to grow, and to grow now so tall that it casts its shadow over the entire western world. The point is that that tree must come down.
Again, I do not say there will be no sexual sins. I mean that the principle must be repudiated: the tree is the principle and it bears the bad fruit of the principle.
I fear that some Catholics will tolerate the tree, because they do not want to hurt the feelings of those who relish the fruit, or because, even if they have no taste for that apple and its like, they do have a taste for this apple; for the tree is generous and offers plenty for every taste, bad fruit in a wide variety.
Perhaps those who planted it had no notion that it would come to this. They thought, perhaps, that a certain politeness would contain the evil: we would wink at John and Mary shacking up, but not at John and Martin; we would allow for divorces only in the hard cases; we would go for contraception but not abortion; we would go for homosexual pseudo-gamy but not for polygamy; not considering that the firmest moral steel is hardly sufficient to keep an evil principle contained.
And politeness, niceness, is paper, not steel.
The tree must come down.
Think, think what ordinary and human things we might again see, things to be expected, easily attained, matters of course: plenty of healthy young love between boys and girls, rather than a minefield for the moral and immoral both; surer direction for young people whose road to healthy manhood or womanhood has been made difficult by misfortune or the sins of their elders; a clearer and more grateful appreciation of each sex for the other; and with it all, sins and failures, weeds springing up as always, but in patches or one by one, not by design, not with the whole soil’s moisture and nourishment going to feed a vegetable leviathan.
The flag must come down.
Under drug criminalization, elites often get away with the same behavior that earns disadvantaged people harsh punishments.
Honesty is always the best policy. That is, unless you work in a low-level federal job for the Biden administration—in that case, it might get you demoted or fired.
“Dozens of young White House staffers have been suspended, asked to resign, or placed in a remote work program due to past marijuana use,” the Daily Beast revealed in an exclusive report. “The policy has even affected staffers whose marijuana use was exclusive to one of the 14 states—and the District of Columbia—where cannabis is legal.”
“Sources familiar with the matter also said a number of young staffers were either put on probation or canned because they revealed past marijuana use in an official document they filled out as part of the lengthy background check for a position in the Biden White House,” the report continues. “Would-be staffers in the Biden administration whose dream jobs were derailed by an opaque system now feel their own truthfulness has been used against them.”
This purge seems seriously hypocritical in light of past statements from top administration officials.
Low-level staffers are getting the axe over honestly answering employment forms, but top administration officials like Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg have publicly bragged about past marijuana usage (which likely happened when it was still illegal) and will face no repercussions.

Harris laughed and admitted in a 2019 interview with the Breakfast Club that she had smoked weed in college—despite having worked to imprison drug users as California attorney general and having opposed marijuana legalization until very recently.
“Half my family’s from Jamaica,” she said. “Are you kidding me?”
“And I did inhale,” she added with a laugh. “I just broke news.”
Similarly, Buttigieg has not shied away from publicly discussing his past drug use. During his 2020 presidential campaign—wherein he did support legalization—Buttigieg admitted that he had used marijuana “a handful of times a long time ago.”
Yet the vice president and a top cabinet official will not lose their jobs, face demotion, or be reassigned as a result of their past drug use. If the Biden administration believes that past marijuana use is disqualifying for low-level positions in the federal government, surely it must be considered disqualifying for high-ranking cabinet members and the woman a heartbeat away from becoming president.
The Biden administration’s dank marijuana hypocrisy is emblematic of a broader trend that always plagues drug criminalization; wherein elites get away with the same behavior that earns disadvantaged people harsh punishments.
Whenever the government criminalizes widespread victimless private behavior, it’s impossible to consistently and fully enforce its mandates. So, it has to decide which cases to pursue and which to overlook. This discretion in the wielding of vast concentrated power inevitably results in favoritism and corruption—inevitably redounding to the benefit of the well-off and well-connected.
The result?
African Americans and white people smoke marijuana at similar rates, but African Americans are nearly four times more likely to be arrested for it. Low-income Americans have historically been much more likely to get caught up in the War on Drugs as well.
And, now, low-level marijuana users are being purged from the federal government while elites like Vice President Harris at the top get away with doing the same thing and publicly bragging about it. This hypocrisy is what’s truly disqualifying.

I figure this is news you have already seen, but just now as I searched around I see that it took days for the disgusting story to spread. Why?
My guess is that it doesn’t fit the mainstream media’s narrative when members of one minority group, in this case Blacks (girls), kill a member of another ‘oppressed’ group, a Muslim man.
And, it all goes down in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s and Black Lives Matter capital city where black lives matter and others not so much!
It sure is a good thing we have the UK Daily Mail because as I began my reading this morning, it was challenging to find a succinct account of what happened almost a week ago.
Anwar died last Tuesday when he was ejected from his Honda Accord after two teenage girls allegedly tasered him and tried to steal his car.
That was bad enough but compounding the horrible event, Bowser attempted to protect the image of Washington DC’s black community by initially lecturing drivers to be more careful about keeping their cars out of the hands of thieves.
Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser has deleted her ‘tone deaf’ tweet advising people on how to prevent auto theft after days of silence about UberEats driver killed in a carjacking in the city.
Bowser’s official Twitter account posted a Metropolitan Police Department video about preventing car thefts on Sunday with the caption: ‘Auto theft is a crime of opportunity. Follow these steps to reduce the risk of your vehicle becoming a target. Remember the motto, #ProtectYourAuto.’
The tweet drew outrage from critics who called it tone deaf in light of the death of 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar. Anwar died last Tuesday when he was ejected from his Honda Accord after two teenage girls allegedly tasered him and tried to steal his car.
The tweet was deleted late Sunday.

The backlash over Bowser’s tweet followed graphic new video shared on social media has shown the events leading up to Anwar’s tragic death as well as the moment the suspects attempt to run away as he lay motionless on the sidewalk.
A father-of-three from Springfield, Virginia, Anwar was making deliveries for UberEats when the two teens, aged 13 and 15, approached his car and tasered him in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

A judge concluded that the two teen girls pose a threat to the community and are a potential flight risk, and ordered them detained pending their next court appearance scheduled for March 31.

My first thought was: so what is CAIR saying since they have been sucking up to BLM since at least last June? Have they blasted the mayor? Called for Bowser’s resignation? Called for more police protection?
Have they called it a hate crime, or an anti-immigrant xenophobic crime?
You can bet if the teens were white you would be hearing that cry already.
Have they said “all live matter?”
