No Company Is Perfect, So Where Do Christians Draw the Line?

As businesses like Target sell apparel for children with Satanist ties and Bud Light advocates transgenderism, believers naturally start to wonder: “Is it wrong for Christians to shop at stores run by sinners?”

This question was posed on a recent episode of the Outstanding Podcast with host Joseph Backholm and guests Jared Bridges and Suzanne Bowdey. The rise of corrupt ideologies sweeping over America is nothing new, but how do Christians determine whether boycotting is the right course of action?

The fact of the matter is that we are all sinners in need of a Savior. So, the better question may be: is it wrong for Christians to consciously give money to companies who use those dollars to support sinful practices? Throughout the discussion, Bridges and Bowdey share helpful insights in navigating this conundrum.

Suzanne Bowdey, editorial director and senior writer at The Washington Stand, advocates for boycotting. “I think a lot of Christians and other people get caught up in the fact that you can’t be pure about boycotting. You can’t find a company or a national corporation that’s going to be 100% with your Christian values. [But] I accept the imperfection of boycotting,” she said. “I accept that it’s messy. I accept that it’s inexact. … For me, it’s about: what am I doing as a Christian, as a steward of what God has given me?”

Constantly looking for companies to boycott “is no way to live,” Bowdey acknowledged.  But when is the activism is blatant, Christians should consider whether it’s worth spending money with businesses that will turn around and use it to support woke agendas.

Sharing his perspective, TWS Editor-in-Chief Jared Bridges stated, “I don’t think [boycotting] is un-Christ-like. The reformers were the ones who wanted to change the church.” He continued, “They wanted to reform the church. And then you had Puritans who wanted to leave and go elsewhere. Now, as an evangelical Christian, today in America, I have benefited from both reformers and Puritans.” Bridges added. When contemplating these issues, “I think we need both. Ultimately, we can’t boycott everything that offends us.”

So, how and where do we draw the line?

“We can only control what we can control,” Bowdey stated. “Yes, it’s inconvenient, because my list has gotten pretty big. … But are those things I can avoid? Absolutely.” For Bowdey, it’s worth figuring out where you draw the line personally. She talked about an FRC colleague who draws the line at companies that support abortion travel such as Amazon. As difficult as it was for her co-worker to give up Prime, she thought about it this way, “When I get to heaven, God’s going to look me in the eye and say, ‘Was it really worth it for the free two-day shipping?’”

Much of this discussion boils down to personal conviction. But, as Bowdey stated, “We are accountable for what we know. If I know that my money is going to be turned around and given to the Trevor Project or the Human Rights Campaign, and they’re going to use it to fund a war on God’s values, [I’ll have to answer for that].”  Bridges lamented that many Christians don’t even take the time to think about these matters enough to have personal convictions.

At the end of the day, Backholm emphasized, Christians have one ultimate loyalty: Jesus Christ. “As truth seekers, we have to recognize that whenever there are people involved, there are opportunities for sin to come in,” he stated. What is most important is to discern what best aligns with Jesus. At what point do you draw the line? What sacrifices are you willing to make for the sake of upholding Christian values?

1 Corinthians 10:31 states, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Christians have a call to live according to a biblical worldview — that is, in accordance with the Scriptures. Perhaps this discussion is hard to navigate. Perhaps the solution is not clear. What is clear is that we ought to glorify God in all we do. As Backholm put it, ask yourself this question: “Am I looking for excuses to do what I want to do, or am I trying to find a way to be more obedient to Jesus?”

As the discussion ended, Bridges added that “there are ways to interact in the world to the glory of God.” Through prayer, “We need to seek Him in how we do that.”

When Corporations Act Like Politicians

As the 2024 presidential primary begins to take shape, pundits of all descriptions treat their readers to theories of whether this or that candidate can hold onto the partisan base or persuade independents. Strangely, many corporations — all Democrats, apparently — are behaving in the same, partisan way. Their unbusinesslike behavior is hurting their bottom line.

The gravest recent example is Anheuser-Busch, manufacturer of Bud Light, who sponsored an Instagram post by Dylan Mulvaney, a man who pretends to be a girl, during March Madness. Even though senior management apparently never signed off on the decision, the backlash was furious, rapid, and sustained. Bud Light sales fell 21.4% in April and continue to drop, sinking 28.4% lower in the boycott’s sixth week, according to Beer Business Daily, which noted, “nobody imagined it would go on this long. … It struck a nerve.” This, despite Anheuser-Busch’s attempts to re-entice former customers, including a patriotic ad campaigncamo-print bottles, and a statement from the CEO admitting that they “never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people.”

Now, Bud Light is basically giving beer away and buying back expired beer from wholesalers in efforts to boost sales. Shares in the company have plummeted nearly 15% since the end of March, a loss of nearly $20 billion (with a “B”) in market value. Oh, and left-wing pundits are attacking Anheuser Busch for its weak attempt at an apology, which NBC News’s Ben Collins characterized as, “Bud Light caves to a mob.” Bud Light was last seen sponsoring Pride parades for the upcoming Pride Month, with all of the revenue they aren’t making.

In the last week of May, retail giant Target joined the fun, rolling out a 2023 “PRIDE” collection that featured Satanic symbolism and trans-specific items like a “tuck-friendly” swimsuit, prompting some conservatives to call for a boycott. Target responded by relocating the unsightly Pride displays from the front of some stores and removing some offensive items from its website, but CEO Brian Cornell doubled down on the decision, claiming that partnering with a Satanist to design pro-trans merchandise was “just good business decisions” and “a great thing for our brand.”

It’s too early to tell if Target’s sales numbers have been affected, but its stock has crashed more than 13% since last Wednesday, a loss of more than $10 billion in market value (for perspective, Target saw a “full-year operating income of $3.8 billion in 2022”). Leftists rewarded Target for its transgressive Pride display and non-apology by slamming it. California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) complained that Cornell was “selling out the LGBTQ+ community,” while National Black Justice Coalition executive director David Johns said Target’s allyship with the LGBTQ community was merely “superficial.” For their part, Target rebounded from the Pride boycott with an email to their employees to “remember the anniversary of the murder of George Floyd.”

The corporate flip-flop is not only for manufacturers and retailers. The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team planned to award an anti-Catholic group of “queer and trans nuns” — whose D.C.-based chapter was formerly led by former Biden nuclear official Sam Brinton — with their annual “Community Hero Award” at their Pride Night on June 16. Not surprisingly, this provoked Catholics to call for a boycott of the Dodgers. The Dodgers rescinded the group’s invitation, acknowledging their controversial nature. But when they did so, LA Pride, which produces the city’s Pride parade, also dropped out, “forcing” the Dodgers to “offer our sincerest apologies” and reinvite the drag troupe.

You might have noticed a pattern developing here: Company X tries to promote the LGBT agenda without generating any controversy — and generates controversy. First, conservatives get mad at the promotion, leading the company to publish a half-hearted apology or half-step back. Next, progressives get made at the company’s supposed capitulation to conservatives. The company winds up angering both sides. Its effort to boost its image winds up backfiring. From this pattern, other companies should learn to ask: if we proceed with this marketing campaign, what’s the end result? Will there be backlash among our customers?

You also might have noticed that the products for sale — baseball, home furnishings, beer — appeal to broad, diverse customer bases. Everyone needs a rug or lamp or articles to fill their domicile. A large swath of American society drinks beer aplenty. And baseball is an American classic. This makes the promotion of trans ideology — a polarizing and un-inclusive issue — wholly unfitting for these brands. Not only does the ideology alienate religious Americans, but it is so unnatural — to a degree surpassing same-sex marriage — that it even alienates people who haven’t thought deeply about it, but who instinctively abhor transgenderism nonetheless.

The point of marketing campaigns is to make your product appealing to your customer base. If that customer base is broad, the marketing campaign should have broad appeal: lovable characters (Geico), memorable slogans (Capitol One), catchy jingles (Liberty Mutual), enticing visuals (anyone selling a burger). Statistically speaking, the percentage of the population who identify as transgender is tiny, even smaller than the percentage that might be turned off by overt appeals to them. Even if they sell such products, Nike doesn’t advertise shoes over size 20, Allstate doesn’t advertise insurance rates for Lamborghinis, and Chick-fil-A doesn’t advertise the vegan options on their menu. Such niche promotion is not worthwhile — unless the product being marketed is also niche.

Furthermore, these products — baseball, home furnishings, beer — are inherently nonpartisan and are in no way enhanced by association with the Pride agenda. A father-son outing to the ballpark is in no way improved by drag performers competing to disgust Catholics. Men drinking at a bar actually prefer that their beverage of choice not be marketed by a TikTok influencer caricaturing an underage girl. A store’s embrace of transgender ideology adds nothing to the take-home value of a shower curtain or candle or desk lamp purchased there. Even the sliver of the population to whom they’re trying to appeal are already as likely to purchase these ubiquitous products and brands as anyone else.

Way back in the 1990s, basketball great-turned-entrepreneur Michael Jordan resisted pressure to endorse Democrat Harvey Gantt in his challenge to Republican Senator Jesse Helms. “Republicans buy sneakers, too,” he reasoned. More corporations today would be wise to heed his advice.

Somewhere along the way, America’s major corporations have stopped behaving like businesses and started behaving like politicians. A politician succeeds by winning votes — which increasingly involves performative virtue-signaling in our culture obsessed with performative identity. A business succeeds by producing the best product and selling it for the lowest price. But investing in pride campaigns is a dubious method for improving a product, and by raising costs it actually increases the price.

Corporations are busy trying to win votes by performative virtue-signaling, but it turns out that is a horrible way to deliver the best product for the lowest price.

Don’t Trick Yourself into Buying from These Companies This Halloween

Last week, we urged you to treat yourself with Halloween necessities from H-E-B, Great Pretenders, and Spirit Halloween. These are companies which put you over politics. If you missed it, here’s the link for you to read!

Today, we’ll be asking you to say “Boo” to three companies which put politics over customers. These are companies which rank poorly on 2ndVote’s 1-5 scale for their donations and company policies.

  • Kroger (1.70) is the parent company to grocery store chains like its own name brand, Harris-Teeter, and QFC. The company ranks at just 1.70 on the 2ndVote scale as it scores a 1.00 in all categories except its 5.00 in Basic Freedoms.
  • Amazon (1.62) is the world’s largest retailer. They rank at 1.62 with 2ndVote because of their opposition to Basic Freedoms like religious liberty and speech, and their environmental radicalism. Amazon also scores a 1.00 in each category except for our 2nd Amendment category which earns a 4.70.
  • Target (2.31) is one of middle-class America’s favorite places to go for everything retail. However, the company has also endangered women’s privacy and safety through its decision to allow men to use women’s restrooms and changing rooms. With scores of 1.00 in each category except a 4.86 in Basic Freedoms and a 4.97 in Civil-Safe Society.

If you would like to see changes in these scores, use YOUR voice to call them out. Contact them through our website with these links: KrogerAmazon, and Target.

It’s important to treat – and not trick – yourself when it comes to Halloween. We encourage you to spend your hard-earned money with companies like Spirit Halloween, H-E-B, and Great Pretenders this Halloween season!

Companies Nationwide are Leading the Way to Ending Mask Mandates

RELATED VIDEO: Fauci, China and the W.H.O…Trish Demands to Know: What is Everyone HIDING?!

At long last, some of the nation’s largest companies are easing mask mandates at their store locations. As COVID-19 cases continue to decline, more and more people feel ready to return to normal life – and these companies are leading the corporate charge to support the reopening of America.

Companies like Walmart (1.33), Costco (2.33), Publix (2.33), and Trader Joe’s (2.67) were some of the first to stop requiring customers to wear masks. Since then, others like Chipotle (2.33), Target (1.50), Starbucks (1.17), and CVS (3.72) followed suit, dropping the mask requirement for customers who have been vaccinated.

None of these companies have announced any plans to check their customers’ vaccination status. We’re grateful they won’t be acting like the COVID police, but are instead allowing people to use their best judgment. After all, getting back to normal means not having to constantly think about pandemic measures. After a year of restrictions, letting people make their own decisions is the right move.

Of course, all of the above companies must defer to state and local law. Twenty-two states have not yet lifted their mask requirements for businesses. And some companies, like Home Depot (3.47) and Gap (2.00), continue to require masks regardless of local regulations. As cases continue to drop nationwide, these states and companies should be encouraged to ease their mask mandates to help send the message that pre-pandemic life is on the way.

When it comes to employees at these companies, the picture is more complicated – but still encouraging. Target, for example, no longer requires fully vaccinated employees to wear masks, but CVS and Chipotle still require masks for their staff no matter what. Employers should end mask mandates for their employees as soon as reasonably possible so that their employees can also return to normal life.

Companies nationwide are making good progress on ending mask requirements. They should keep it up and be leaders in helping America return to normal.

Target restrooms become meeting spots for ‘flash mob orgies’

folsom street fair 2016Shortly following the announcement that Target will observe gender neutrality of their restrooms, customers have been reporting organized flash mobs of sexual deviants holding orgy parties inside Target’s public restrooms. Unfortunate shoppers who happened to be inside the restrooms at the time, some with their children, became unwitting spectators to some of the most blatant debauchery seen in North America outside of San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair.

One mother, who was in the ladies’ room with her nine-year-old daughter, described one such flash mob as “horrifying.”

“A number of creepy men and women walked into the bathroom and immediately began stripping, then petting each other,” she said. As she and daughter left the stall and attempted to flee, one of the men grabbed the mother’s hair and tried to pull her into the pile of nude people engaged in sexual intercourse on the restroom floor.

Barack-Obama-Peaking-Into-Women-s-Bathroom--78029According to witnesses, these restroom orgies typically take less than ten minutes, after which the participants put their clothes back on and go their separate ways, leaving behind the scarred memories of shoppers who had the misfortune to walk into the restroom during the event.

In addition to multiple reports about the Target flash mob orgies across the country, there have also have been cases of other deviant sexual behavior that continue to traumatize unsuspecting shoppers.

A sudden proliferation of so-called “glory holes” have been popping up in Target’s multiple washrooms. A “glory hole” is a hole made in a stall wall at about waist height for the purpose of anonymous sex.

The problem has caused Target’s corporate lawyers to send a special warning to all of the chain’s 1,793 stores, advising local managers to be aware of potential lawsuits resulting from shoppers slipping on lubricants and other fluids left over on the bathroom floors by spontaneous sex parties taking place in their facilities.

In less than a few weeks’ time, Target restrooms have become some of the most dangerous places in the United States, competing with rundown truck stops and highway rest areas for the title of the most notorious stomping grounds for sexual predators.

Federal authorities have released an advisory informing residents in populated areas that, until the situation is taken under control, Target restrooms are not a suitable place for families or vulnerable individuals to visit.

I am Barack Obama

It’s always hard coming out. But it’s even harder not being true to yourself. So, inspired by Bruce Jenner and other intrepid souls, I’ve decided to finally start living the life I was meant to:

Barack-Obama-Peaking-Into-Women-s-Bathroom--78029

Image is courtesy of FreakingNews.com.

I identify as Barack Obama.

Oh, I can hear the cynical statements now. “Duke, your I.Q. is 50 points too high.” “Duke, you can speak fluently without a Teleprompter.” “Duke, you know there aren’t 60 states and can pronounce “corpsman.” “Duke, you’re melanin compromised.” All these things are inconsequential details, the stuff of tiresome prigs — sort of like genitalia on a man.

Given my identity, compassion dictates I be allowed to use the bathroom of my choice. My preferred bathroom happens to be in the White House. The same is true of my preferred bedroom, kitchen, living room, Blue Room, Green Room and Map Room; and my preferred chef, servants and security detail. I’ll have my preferred executive orders, too.

Some backward thinkers will insist I use the facilities appropriate to my station; others, thinking themselves reasonable, will offer to paint my place white and erect four majestic columns at its entrance. To them I will say, you’re insensitive, bigoted, narrow-minded, unscientific, ambition-phobic racists who should be killed with fire. As with the children and youths for whom the Obama administration (my administration) has so courageously taken up the cudgels, it is unconscionable to suggest I shouldn’t be allowed to use the facilities consistent with my identity.

Many, though, in the grip of white “male” (whatever that is) linear thinking, will dismiss my righteous claim by flippantly saying I’m not Barack Obama. Well, this is my reality — not yours. As American Thinker’s James Arlandson recently pointed out, philosopher Immanuel Kant informed that “we can’t know the ‘thing-in-itself’ without our mind filtering it.” Fellow enlightener Friedrich Nietzsche further clarified that “[e]verything is Interpretation: … Against those who say ‘There are only facts,’ I say, ‘No, facts are precisely what there is not, only interpretations.’ We cannot establish any fact in itself.”

And my own personal, provisional fact is that I have strong and persistent feelings I’m really Barack Obama. If you say feelings aren’t facts, you’re not paying attention.

Everything is relative to a reality that isn’t really there.

Besides, don’t be an unscientific fascist. When a born-male sentient biped informs us he’s really a girl — which is now old hat and needn’t even be questioned — rightful deference is shown to his reality because, as PsychCentral.com puts it, he has exhibited “gender dysphoria,” which is defined by “strong and persistent cross-gender identification.” Oh, I know you’ve heard that intrauterine anomalies might cause the brain of a developing XY-biped to not be fully masculinized. Ze may then end up with a “female brain.” Of course, a recent scientific study purports to have debunked the very notion of male and female brains, but it doesn’t matter.

There is no brain scan used to confirm the “realness” of a gender dysphoria diagnosis.

There’s no genetic test used.

There’s no hormonal test.

There’s no medical test of any kind.

Rather, the diagnosis is based, again, on strong and persistent cross-gender identification — on strong and persistent feelings — lasting for more than six months, that you’re really, deep down, a member of the social construction fascists call “the opposite sex.”

So don’t waste time telling me a brain scan would reveal that I don’t have the gray matter of a Barack Obama, that my brain is in a considerably more used condition. Don’t tell me that “status dysphoria” is a mental disorder. I have feelings, too. And my feelings say I’m what fascists call “the guy I voted for.”

The point is that, scientifically, there’s every bit as much medical proof a trans-status biped such as me is Barack Obama as there is that a “transgender” person is an opposite-sex member. Ze’s stuck in the wrong body — I’m stuck in the wrong position.

Our trans-status and transgender diagnostic methods would constitute malpractice in any other branch of medicine, you say? You may claim that recommending someone for “sexual-reassignment surgery” based on a gender dysphoria diagnosis is akin to a patient exclaiming to a cardiologist, “Doc, I have strong and persistent feelings I have heart disease! I need a bypass!” and the physician responding, “Have they lasted for more than six months? Yeah? Okay, well, medical tests show no signs of arteriosclerosis. But, what the heck, I’ll cut your chest open.” My response to this line of what fascists call reasoning is, you’re an insensitive, bigoted, narrow-minded, unscientific, ambition-phobic racist who should be killed with fire.

And be warned, we trans-statuses and transgenders will have many allies in our bonfire of the insanities. Psychologists also define something called “species dysphoria,” which is when an individual identifies as a different kind of creature. Examples of people brave enough to live as their true animal selves may be Texas resident Wolfie Blackheart, who insists “I am a canine”; and a Norwegian woman called “Nano” who says she’s a cat. (Question: if Wolfie and Nano met, would they fight like…well, you know? And would they identify it as a catfight?)

Note also, there’s every bit as much scientific evidence of trans-status’ and transgender’s validity as there is of trans-species’ validity.

In our camp also should be those with Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID). These people insist that one or more body parts, such as their legs or eyes, don’t belong on/in their bodies. Not only have some mutilated or blinded themselves on this basis, but there are enlightened physicians who, respecting these patients’ identity, have agreed to perform amputations. And why not? Remove what’s between your legs — remove your legs — whatever makes you happy.

And remember, there’s every bit as much scientific evidence of trans-status’, transgender’s and trans-species’ validity as there is evidence that a BIID biped really should be a no-ped. Feelings über alles.

So I am Barack Obama. At least, that is, until January 20, 2017, at which time I may identify as Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. And they’re coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-ha. Or are they coming to take you away, bigoted, narrow-minded, unscientific, ambition-phobic racists who should be killed with fire? That all depends on the outcome of these refreshingly fact-free culture wars.

May the strongest feelings win.

VIDEO: Turning Target’s Bathrooms into Porn Studios — opening Pandora’s Box

Since the announcement by Target that it will allow men to use women’s bathrooms there have been arrests of men secretly filming women. This is the cheap way to make pornographic films, all at the expense of Target customers. Customers violated include women and underage children.

Ashley Lahue from KMOV TV in St. Louis on April 27th reported, “An O’Fallon, Missouri man was arrested on April 23, 2015 after allegedly secretly filming women in a Target dressing room. Matthew Foerstel, 26, faces felony charges for invasion of privacy in the second degree and unlawful possession of a firearm.”

The same is happening on college and university campuses.

Project Veritas did a video expose of a University of North Carolina, Ashville official allowing a man, who self identifies as a sexual predator, to use the women’s bathroom:

Several states, including North Carolina, have restricted access to public bathrooms based upon a person’s birth gender. Most recently a Florida School District has done the same. The Liberty Council reports:

Effective this morning, the Marion County School Board affirmed the constitutional expectation of its student’s privacy by requiring students to use the bathrooms and other facilities based on biological sex, as requested by Liberty Counsel. This 4-1 vote happened late last night. It will allow students of only one gender, that of their birth, into a bathroom or locker room.

Liberty Counsel represented Harrell “Hal” Phillips before the Marion County School Board in support of this commonsense bathroom policy. Phillips and his son are devout Christians who believe strongly in both biblical modesty and constitutional privacy. Last week, Phillips’ son was extremely upset when he encountered a female student in the boy’s bathroom at his high school, Vanguard High School in Ocala, FL. This was a place where he has a reasonable expectation that he will not encounter the opposite sex. Liberty Counsel also offered to defend the school board for free if the board is sued for adopting this policy.

The U.S. Constitution establishes a protection of the privacy of Americans, and our public school students do not give that up when they enter a public school bathroom. This policy protects the privacy rights and safety of all Marion County students. The four board members who voted to approve the policy should be commended for their common sense and courage in the face of threats and intimidation by the ACLU and its allies.

It also appears that Florida is considering a bill similar to that passed by the North Carolina legislature. Pedro Gonzales from The American Thinker reports, “Florida is considering a law which would require men to use men’s bathrooms and women to use women’s bathrooms, and not let them pick and choose.

Employees of pro-LGBTQ companies are revolting against the open bathroom policy. In the column Employee Revolt Coming in Sin-Supporting Companies Linda Harvey reports:

It seems the majority of U.S companies have suddenly gone berserk, hotly defending the “right” of men to use female restrooms.

But are we to believe all their employees have obediently embraced homosexuality and gender-bending, and are also eager to deny the religious liberties of those who don’t?

Are so-called “LGBT” behaviors being welcomed with open arms by Joe and Jane American Worker at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Coca-Cola, Target, PayPal, Apple, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, Time-Warner, Marriott, Hilton, Kellogg, First Data, Amazon and SalesForce? How about the NFL, NCAA and ESPN?

Hardly.

In fact, within these companies there may be revolution brewing.  People are fed up with management’s blatant support of harmful, depraved lifestyles that apparently compel people to spitefully and deliberately discriminate against faithful Christians.

Last week, I heard from a woman who contacted me after reading my articles. She has quite a story to tell about being fired from her counseling position by a lesbian supervisor. Her termination wasn’t even related to a dispute about homosexuality, but simply because she was known to be a Christian with a desire to sometimes pray with counseling clients, with their consent.

The details of her story are here.

It appears that Target has become the target. Customers, employees and a growing number of states are saying no to gender neutral bathrooms.

What do you think?

The Illogical Transgender Argument

What would you think if famed Hall of Fame NBA player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who stands 7’2, claimed to be five foot tall? What would you think if South African president, Jacob Zuma claimed to be president of the U.S.? What would you think if I told you the Washington Wizards of the NBA was currently playing in the playoffs even though they are not?

Let’s take this a step further. What would you think if Abdul-Jabbar wanted to have all of his legal documents (driver’s license, passport, medical records) made to reflect his contention that he was five foot tall despite all evidence that he is seven two? What would you think if Zuma wanted the United Nations (U.N.) to recognize him as the duly elected president of the U.S.? What would you think if the Wizards went to the commissioner of the NBA and demanded an opponent to play even though they are not eligible to participate in the playoffs?

This type of behavior is the clinical definition of psychosis. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), psychosis is “a severe mental disorder in which a person loses the ability to recognize reality…having false ideas about what is taking place or who one is, and seeing, hearing or feeling things that are not there.”

So, the point is, no matter what Abdul-Jabbar says he is; there is nothing that can change the fact that he is seven two. Even if the U.N. wanted to recognize Zuma as the U.S. president, there is nothing they can do to make that a reality. The Wizards claiming they “deserve” to be in the playoff won’t change the reality that they are not in the playoffs.

Abdul-Jabbar can insist he is five foot tall until he is blue in the face; but the U.S. government will never “officially” recognize him as such. The American people will never recognize Zuma as our elected president regardless of how vigorously he claims to be. The Wizards can organize protests all across the country, but there is nothing they can do to be included in the NBA playoffs. I am sure most of us would consider it very strange to try to change each of these three situations in the face of established facts to the contrary.

Most of us would consider a person who refused to accept the absolute facts of these situations as having some type of mental issue or psychosis as defined above.

Unfortunately, too many people today are refusing to accept reality; thus an alarming rate of psychosis being revealed not only in the U.S.; but throughout the world.

I recently had a discussion with my doctor about Bruce Jenner, who was born with a penis, and yet “claims” to be a girl. My doctor indicated that even if Jenner were to have a surgical vagina created; biologically and genetically, he would still be a male.

If Jenner’s body was discovered a thousand years from now, my doctor continued, and a DNA test was run; Jenner would be labeled as a male.

So, this whole foolishness about men born with a penis or women born with a vagina being able to “self-identify” as a woman or a man, respectively is the very definition of psychosis.

As in my opening three examples, there is absolutely nothing that can be done or said to change the reality of if you were born with a penis, you are a male; and if you are born with a vagina, you are a female.

You can have all the relevant body parts changed, but biologically and genetically, you still are who you were at birth—male or female.

So if Abdul-Jabbar can’t legally place on his documents that he is five foot tall; Zuma can’t legally be recognized as the U.S. president; and the Wizards can’t be in the NBA playoff simply by saying they are; then simply saying something is true does not make it true. A male who has a penis cannot and should not be allowed to go to the girl’s bathroom simply because they “claim” they are a girl. A female who has a vagina cannot and should not be allowed to go to the boy’s bathroom simply because they “claim” they are a boy.

What would be the legal basis for codifying such an act?

In order to accept the transgender argument; then you must allow Abdul-Jabbar to be listed as five foot tall, Zuma to be recognized as president of the U.S.; and the Wizards to play in the playoffs. Both sets of examples are based strictly on each person’s distorted view of reality in opposition to all the available facts. Both are simply based on a person’s verbally claiming something is reality; even though the verbal statements are without fact or merit.

In the immortal words of Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers, “what a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away; because what seems to be is always better than nothing at all.”

A Rogue IRS: Enough is Enough

“On matters of style, swim with the current. On matters of principle stand like a rock.” – Thomas Jefferson

For over 10 years, the FairTax® campaign has warned about the politicization of the IRS. Events over the past nine months have only served to heighten this concern. Consider the following revelations:

  • The IRS admitted to and apologized for targeting certain conservative leaning groups.
  • The senior IRS official at the center of the targeting, Lois Lerner, pleaded the 5th during questioning by members of a House Oversight Committee.
  • The Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee released an email from another senior IRS official confirming the IRS had been “off-planning” this targeting as early as June 2012.
  • A senior Senator publicly requested the Executive Branch use the IRS and bypass Congress to weaken and curtail funding for certain conservative leaning 501(c)(4)’s.
  • The Chairman of Ways and Means stated the IRS has targeted established conservative 501(c)(4)’s for audits.
  • The IRS proposed new rules that would redefine political activities by 501(c)(4)’s and effectively extinguish their 1st Amendment right to free political speech. Thankfully, opposition has been swift and strong and is coming from the left and the right.

This cascading series of events should strike fear in the heart of every single American citizen.

Today, the IRS may target you for your political beliefs.Tomorrow it could be the color of your skin, your gender or your religious beliefs. Once you begin power sliding down the slippery slope, it’s impossible to predict where you might land.

There is a way out of this increasingly dangerous mess – a way in which citizens do not have to fear their elected officials or their government. It is the FairTax Plan.

The FairTax eliminates the income tax while defunding and disbanding the IRS. The FairTax institutes a progressive, national consumption tax that is simple, fair and ready to implement. It fully funds the federal government, including Social Security and Medicare, while stimulating the economy and generating desperately needed jobs at an unprecedented level!

The American Revolutionary War began because of colonists who were fed up with Britain’s increasing tyranny and taxation. Having had enough, they drew a line in the sand and declared  “no more taxation without representation”.

When a nation’s elected officials use government agencies for partisan political gain, suppress free political speech and target individual citizens for punitive action, that nation has effectively slid into taxation without representation.

Where is your line in the sand? When do you tell your elected representative, I’ve had enough, I want simple and transparent taxation without interference by special interests and a government that does not engage in punitive, partisan manipulation?

Finally, congratulations to Congressman Chris Stewart (UT-2) for becoming the 74th co-sponsor of HR 25! Please call Rep. Stewart and welcome him to the FairTax family.

Iranian General: We have “identified centers in America” for attack, U.S. “will be destroyed from within”

Targets? Within America? But I thought the Iranians were all moderates now, and loved us. In any case, the “destroyed from within” part looks as if it is proceeding apace. “Iranian commander: We have targets within America,” by Reza Kahlili for the Daily Caller, February 1:

A top commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards boasted Saturday that his forces have plans in place to attack the United States from within, should the U.S. attack the Islamic Republic.

“America, with its strategic ignorance, does not have a full understanding of the power of the Islamic Republic,” Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami said in a televised interview.

“We have recognized America’s military strategy, and have arranged our abilities, and have identified centers in America [for attack] that will create a shock.”

Reports indicate that terrorist Hezbollah forces — allies of Iran — have infiltrated the U.S. and have mapped out targets.

“We will conduct such a blow in which they [America] will be destroyed from within,” Salami said.

This is the second warning by a high-ranking officer of the Guards in two weeks. The chief commander of the Guards, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Jafari, addressing Secretary of State John Kerry, said on Jan. 24 that a direct conflict with America is the “strongest dream of the faithful and revolutionary men around the world.”

Kerry had previously said that if Iran did not live up to the agreement reached in Geneva on its nuclear program, “all options are on the table.”

“Your threats to revolutionary Islam are the best opportunity,” Jafari had said. “Muslim leaders for years have been preparing us for a decisive battle.… Do you know how many thousands of revolutionary Muslims at the heart of the Islamic revolutionary groups around the world are awaiting for you to take this [military] option from the table into action?”
