MSNBC’s Joy Reid: Education ‘Is Code for White Parents Don’t Like the Idea of Teaching about Race’

During MSNBC’s Virginia election coverage on Tuesday, racist propagandist Joy Reid argued that education “is code for white parents who don’t like the idea of teaching about race.”

“[T]he exit polls showed that — which was interesting — that the coronavirus, or that the virus was a very — was not important to many voters there,” Reid said of the runaway Republican victories all across the political board in Virginia, victories which embittered radical leftists like Reid.

The most important issue, Reid continued, “was education, which is code for white parents don’t like the idea of teaching about race. And I mean, unfortunately, race is just the most palpable tool in the toolkit. It used to be of the Democratic Party back in the day when they were Dixiecrats and now of the Republican Party. It just is powerful.”

Reid and her fellow Democrats are seething that Virginia voters rejected the entirety of the leftist agenda, primarily the teaching of the racist neo-Marxism of Critical Race Theory. The election losses leave Democrats nothing to counter with but false accusations of racism.

On September 3, 2020, Reid defended the funding of out-of-state agitators who were traveling across the U.S. to participate in various protests and riots — led by Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) — against the systemic racism allegedly pervading America. She also compared the activities and objectives of Antifa and BLM, to those of the civil rights movement: “First of all, it wouldn’t even be illegal if someone was paying for people’s flights to cities where they will protest any more than it was illegal for civil rights organizations to pay for the buses that brought northern protesters to the south during the civil rights movement. Most importantly, there is no evidence that anyone is paying for anyone to do anything, let alone there are ‘dark shadows’ out there enticing people to commit violent acts.” Asserting that the word Antifa “literally stands for anti-fascists,” and that the movement’s activities “aren’t close to organized crime,” Reid added: “I can’t believe I have to say this, but one more time for those in the back, Black Lives Matter and Antifa are not the mob.”

Virginia Parents Champion Victory Of ‘Family Values,’ ‘Parental Rights’ After Democrats Routed In State-Wide Elections

By Daily Wire, November 3, 2021

Virginia parents are claiming victory for “family values” and “parental rights” after Republicans swept statewide elections in Virginia on Tuesday.

Republicans routed Democrats for Virginia governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general on Tuesday in an election favoring Democrats earlier this year. Local outrage over education created a groundswell of anger against Democrats and progressive school curriculum, ideas, and policies such as student mask mandates.

Parental outrage drove Republican businessman Glenn Youngkin to victory over Democratic former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, flipping the state red after the tenure of Governor Ralph Northam.

“Glenn Youngkin’s victory showcases the Commonwealth’s desire to elect a public servant instead of a political servant,” Virginia mother Elizabeth Perrin told Fox News. “What we have seen is the importance of family values and parental rights in our education system.”

“It has been great to see how the importance of our children’s education and the parents matter movement has brought so many people together,” said Brandon Michon, a Loudoun County father of three. “This is Virginia’s opportunity to raise the bar, and we will be doing it with Glenn Youngkin as governor.”

Loudoun County was launched into national news as the center of a debate over Critical Race Theory in schools earlier this year. As The Daily Wire reported in June:

The fight between parents and Virginia’s Loudoun County Public School (LCPS) district board came to a head on Tuesday night after police arrested at least two parents who refused to leave a public school board meeting. Parents have been embroiled in a nearly year-long pushback against the district for allegedly pushing critical race theory on children — an allegation the district vehemently denies.

LCPS is far from the only school district in the nation pushing progressive ideology in the classroom. Some of the nation’s most elite private schools, such as Harvard Westlake in Los Angeles and the Dalton School and Spence School in New York City, are peddling this ideology as well. However, the infighting in public schools — which 90 percent of American students attend — is far more telling of what most parents are enduring today.

Loudoun County parents’ outrage exploded last month after The Daily Wire reported an incident in which a female student was allegedly sexually assaulted in a bathroom by a male student in a skirt.

UNBELIEVABLE: Republicans Win 4 New York City Council Seats

This is amazing.

Republicans win 4 NYC council seats

By: NY Post, November 3, 2021:

Republicans won four contested City Council races in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island and had a shot at taking a fifth in a potential upset.

Republican Inna Vernikov thumped her Democratic opponent Steve Saperstein for an open seat In southern Brooklyn’s 48th Council District by nearly 30 points.

With 87 percent of the vote in, Vernikov, a 37-year-old lawyer and Ukraine native, garnered 10,768 votes, or 65 percent of the vote, to 5,870 votes, or 35 percent, for Saperstein.

She will succeed ex-Councilman Chaim Deutsch, who forfeited his seat earlier this year when he was convicted of tax fraud.

The district includes many Russian-speaking and Jewish immigrants in the communities of Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay and Homecrest.

Vernikov ran as an unabashed supporter of former President Donald Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. endorsed her in a robocall to voters. She also opposed coronavirus vaccine mandates.

“I’m very excited. This election victory shows that the people are fed up with the progressive policies that have destroyed our city and district,” Vernikov told The Post last night.

Pro-Trump Republican Inna Vernikov thumped her Democratic opponent Steve Saperstein.

“I hope to open the door for other Republicans and serve the district with honor and integrity.”

Meanwhile, Joann Ariola kept the 32nd District, encompassing the beach communities in eastern Queens, in Republican hands.

Ariola, the Queens Republican leader and a Howard Beach civic activist, trounced lefty

Democratic progressive Felica Singh with 16,040 votes, or 67 percent, to 7,443 votes or 31 percent for Singh, who was backed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Political insiders said Singh’s support for defunding the police and her criticism of Israel were losing positions in the district.

Ariola will succeed term-limited Republican Councilman Eric Ulrich.

Republican Joann Ariola kept the 32nd District, encompassing the beach communities in eastern Queens.

Meanwhile, in Staten Island’s mid-island 50th Council District, Republican David Carr defeated Democrat Sal Albanse, a former Brooklyn councilman who moved to the borough five years ago.

With 99 percent of the vote in, Carr captured 19,295 votes, or 61 percent, to 10,082 votes, or 32 percent, for Albanese. Conservative Party candidate George Wonica received 2,273 or 7 percent of the vote.

Carr, who was chief of staff to outgoing Councilman Steve Matteo, will succeed his boss.
In Staten Island’s Mid-Island 50th Council District, Republican David Carr defeated Democrat Sal Albanse.

In Staten Island’s mid-island 50th Council District, Republican David Carr defeated Democrat Sal Albanse.

Albanese had the support of law enforcement and other unions but the red tide on the island swamped him.

Meanwhile, a Republican candidate pulled off an upset in the 19th Council District in northeastern Queens.

Vickie Paladino led former Democratic Councilman Tony Avella with 99 percent of the votes in. Paladino had the support of 12,143 votes, or 50 percent, to 10,490, or 43 percent, for Avella. John-Alexander Sakelos, running on the Conservative and Save Our City lines, received 1,729 votes or 7 percent.

In another shocker, Democratic Councilman Justin Brannan, who is running to become the next council speaker, is fighting for political survival.

With 95 percent of the vote in, Brannan was locked in a dead heat with Republican Brian Fox in the 43rd District that takes in communities including Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.

Fox, who ran a law-and-order campaign, had 11,589 votes to 11,568 for Brannan — a difference of just 21 votes.

‘How to Destroy a Nation’

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa.

Today’s blog comes from a regular contributor whose work you have all enjoyed. It was written about a week ago but is relevant today. It’s by Chris Wright from the Skirmish. Enjoy and as always feel free to share, like and comment.

‘How to Destroy a Nation’

By Chris Wright

I didn’t expect to be back to the subject of the border so soon, but a lot has happened since I last reported to you on the nation’s immigration crisis one week ago.

Since then, we learned Panama apprehended 52 people associated with al Qaeda Islamic terrorism who were headed to the U.S. southern border. They were among 100,000 people moving through Panama on their way north. There are separate reports of a caravan numbering thousands massing at the Mexico-Guatemala border, and 20,000 Haitians staging in Colombia to make the journey to the U.S.

It was also reported this week the Biden administration is secretly flying unaccompanied alien minors who crossed the border illegally to small airports around the country.  The border patrol encountered over 18,000 such minors in July and another 18,000 in August – over six times as many as a year ago.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the secret flights, then proceeded to make a joke out of them.  The flights are not in the middle of the night, she said, just “early” in the morning.  The Biden administration and government agencies involved are keeping the details secret, and not answering basic questions like how many, why at night, where exactly, at what cost, or how long this will go on.  Another good question: why isn’t the administration verifying the identities of the people picking the minors up at the airport?

lf the threats to national security, the migrant caravans, and the secrecy don’t bother you, maybe this will:

It was also reported this week the Biden administration believes tens of millions of people will be displaced by climate change over the next 20 or 30 years.  The administration’s priority is “strengthening global protection for these displaced individuals and groups.”  Indeed, the report said affording such protection is a “compelling national interest” and said the U.S. must prepare for a growing number of migrants in coming years.  Translation: not just open borders.  Open-ended open borders.

OK, so the Biden administration believes flying 18,000 minors around the country a month isn’t enough, catching 1.7 million illegal border-crossers a year isn’t enough, and the most generous legal immigration system in the world isn’t enough.  We must open up our country to tens of millions more who will be trying to resettle here in coming years.

I’m remembering the video of Dick Lamm, the Democrat former Governor of Colorado saying, if you want to destroy a nation, start with no longer enforcing its immigration laws and turning it into a multicultural country full of people who won’t assimilate.  I’m also remembering the economist Milton Friedman who said you can’t have open borders and an open welfare system at the same time, it can’t possibly work.

Thankfully, there are still people in positions of authority who view all of this as madness and are doing something about it.   Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced plans to send 5,000 National Guard troops to the border and a Texas sheriff is deputizing local citizens to secure his county’s border.

Some years ago, the Supreme Court knocked down Arizona’s efforts to enforce federal immigration laws on its own.  Recently, liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer spoke out against the Democrats’ court-packing plan.  Let’s hope the Supreme Court and others have come to their senses and now oppose the Democrats’ country-packing plan.  If not enough people come to their senses, we will surely destroy a nation.

US Would Have Highest Top Income Tax Rate Among Developed Nations Under Biden Plan, New Analysis Warns

Nobel-prize-winning economist Milton Friedman famously quipped that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Well, despite the Biden administration’s rhetorical spin, there’s also no such thing as a multi-trillion-dollar spending plan that costs “zero dollars.” Indeed, Biden’s plans include a vast suite of tax hikes to “pay for” the proposed spending—hikes that would leave the US with the highest top income tax rate among developed nations, according to one analysis.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE TAX FOUNDATION CHART SHOWING BUILD BACK BETTER TAX RATE WILL EXCEED 50% IN ALL STATES AND WASHINGTON, D.C.

The right-leaning, nonpartisan Tax Foundation examined the updated details of the president’s “Build Back Better” tax proposals. It reviewed the new proposed tax surcharges on high earners, proposed redefinition of certain tax bases to include more people, and already-scheduled increases in income tax rates. Under this tax regime, the Tax Foundation warns that accounting for federal, state, and local taxes, the US would reach a 57.4 percent top income tax rate—meaning that above a certain level of income, nearly 60 cents out of each additional dollar earned must go to the IRS.

As the below chart shows, the US would far surpass most other developed nations under the Biden administration’s proposals:

There would still be some state-level variation, but in all 50 states and Washington, DC the top personal income tax rate would exceed 50 percent. (Even in states like Florida with no state-level income tax!) The situation would be even more extreme in states like New York and California, where the top rate would hit 66.2 percent and 64.7 percent respectively.

It doesn’t take a genius or an economist to see how this could hurt not just rich people, but the entire US economy.

“Raising the top marginal tax rate on ordinary income to the highest in the OECD will damage U.S. competitiveness,” Tax Foundation analysts Alex Durante and William McBride warn. “It will also reduce incentives to work, save, invest, and innovate, with broad implications for the U.S. economy.”

Indeed it would. Simply put, wealthy individuals and businesses are less likely to invest in or relocate to the US if they will face a much steeper tax burden than in similar developed countries. Moreover, the dollars confiscated from wealthy Americans would likely have been invested, meaning the taxes will draw resources away from productive enterprise that would’ve led to new jobs, technologies, and economic activity.

The Biden administration continues to stubbornly claim that its agenda “costs zero dollars.” But nothing in life is truly free. Americans should keep the costs of President Biden’s tax proposals front of mind when considering their merits, not just any claimed benefits.

Blah, Blah, Blah – CLIMATE – Blah, Blah, Blah

Greta Thunberg Continues To Show Us That She Is CLUELESS, Chants “Blah, Blah, Blah”

UN COP 26, the most significant climate conference in years is underway in Glasgow and CFACT is there!

World leaders such as Boris Johnson, Prince Charles, President Biden, Al Gore, and UN Secretary General António Guterres ascended the stage for the UN “World Leaders Summit.”

CFACT found ourselves in the unusual position of agreeing with Swedish climate kid Greta Thunberg who called the world leaders’ rhetoric a bunch of ineffectual “blah, blah, blah.”

Greta just topped herself singing repeatedly to world leaders, “You can shove your climate crisis up your a***,” to the tune of “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain.” Watch:

CFACT shares Greta’s sentiment on this one.  (Though not her penchant for profanity).

All this top down blah, blah, blah demands a little perspective:

Pete Murphy joined CFACT’s delegation to Glasgow as a policy analyst.  Read Murphy’s first dispatch from the COP at CFACT.org.  In addition to his roundup of world leader bloviating, Pete reports that Climate Depot’s Marc Morano went on the airways reporting developments on One America News (OAN), the Joe Piscopo national radio show, and Washington DC’s talk radio station WMAL, among other media.  Stay tuned for much more.

Check out the big black inflatable capitalist “snake” climate campaigners are parading around Glasgow.  They did a fine job of underscoring the anti-capitalist agenda lurking behind so much climate and environment rhetoric.

CFACT’s (unofficial) poll of local Scots, however, reveals a people firmly grounded in common sense.  Scots are waking up to the fact that their massive investment in intermittent wind and solar power is threatening them with unaffordable electricity prices and blackouts.  Look to Scotland and some other European countries for a model of how not to handle a national energy strategy.

CFACT is your eyes, ears and voice in the UN climate process.

Watch for much more as COP 26 unfolds in Glasgow.

GOP SWEEP! Governor Elect Youngkin, Republicans Win Virginia Attorney General, Lt. Governor & the House Of Delegates

A Red wave in Blue Virginia. The people of Virginia completely rebuked the radicalism of the Left. The Democrats have been decimated in Virginia.

YOUNGKIN WINS VIRGINIA GOVERNOR’S RACE

The Associated Press called the race at 12:37 a.m. ET.

Youngkin, who was virtually unknown to most Virginia voters at the beginning of the year, previously served as the CEO of the private equity firm Carlyle Group before stepping down in 2020. The Republican won the state’s GOP convention in May, defeating six other candidates.

His victory is a major upset over McAuliffe, who has long been a fixture of Democratic Party establishment politics, previously serving as the governor from 2014 to 2018 and chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001 to 2005.

The Democratic defeat also serves as a warning for the party going into the 2022 midterm elections, which are widely being viewed as a referendum on President Biden’s first two years in office. As the polls tightened between McAuliffe and Youngin, Biden’s approval rating ticked down in Virginia.

Throughout the election, Youngkin was careful to walk a fine line when it came to former President Trump. While he said he was “honored” to receive Trump’s endorsement after winning the convention, he did not appear with the former president on the campaign trail.

McAuliffe and his allies long worked to tie Youngkin to Trump due to the former president’s deep unpopularity in Virginia. However, Youngkin’s win appears to be confirmation that the strategy did not pay off as expected, sending a signal to Republican and Democratic candidates going into the midterms.

The Republican upset in Virginia also points to Youngkin’s success heavily leaning into the issue of education, specifically parents’ rights over school boards. Youngkin and his allies jumped into the nationwide debate that originally took off in the Loudoun County School district over critical race theory and transgender rights in schools, arguing that it was parents, not school boards, who ultimately get to decide what their children learn in the classroom. Last month, Youngkin hit the Loudoun County school board once again, calling for an investigation into the handling of two sexual assault allegations in two Loudoun schools this year.

Prior to Youngkin’s victory, Republicans suggested they would tout the parents’ rights message going into the midterms.

BREAKING: Republicans Projected To Win Virginia Attorney General, Lt. Governor; Lead So Far In House Of Delegates

By Daily Wire, November 2, 2021

Republicans are expected to dominate Virginia’s elections on Tuesday, projected to win the state’s races for governor, attorney general, and lieutenant governor. They also were ahead by a substantial margin in the number of seats won in the House of Delegates, 32-15, although that is subject to change.

Dave Wasserman of the non-partisan Cook Political Report and Decision Desk HQ called the Virginia Lieutenant Gubernatorial Election for Republican Winsome Sears, a black woman. Wasserman and Decision Desk HQ also called the Virginia Attorney General Election for Republican Jason Miyares.

Other major outlets have not yet called the races.

“Since Virginia went blue for Barack Obama in 2008, Republicans have been on a downhill slide, the pace of which quickened during President Donald Trump’s administration,” The Associated Press reported. “The GOP, which hasn’t won a statewide race in Virginia since 2009, saw its legislative majority melt away.”

Wasserman, Decision Desk HQ, and Business Insider all called the race for the state’s governorship for Republican Glenn Youngkin.

Why I’m a Conservationist and NOT an Environmentalist

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And God said, ‘Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.’ And it was so.” – Genesis

“Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” — Albert Einstein

“There is a delight in the hardy life of the open. There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm. The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased and not impaired in value.” –  Speech by Theodore Roosevelt in Osawatomie, Kansas, August 31, 1910.

I deeply care about the planet earth and about all of the creatures living on the land and in our seas, rivers and oceans. However, I am not a environmentalist. Rather I am a conservationist.

According to Merriam-Webster, a conservationist is “a person who advocates conservation especially of natural resources.”

In contrast, an environmentalist is defined as one “concerned about environmental quality especially of the human environment with respect to the control of pollution.”

Do you see the difference?

Conservationism

A conservationist uses what has been given to us to use. He or she does not want to control people but give people access to all natural resources but task people to use these natural resources for the good of all of mankind. Not to do so is blasphemy.

The U.S. Department of the Interior says this about the conservationism:

President Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most powerful voices in the history of American conservation. Enthralled by nature from a young age, Roosevelt cherished and promoted our nation’s landscapes and wildlife. After becoming president in 1901, Roosevelt used his authority to establish 150 national forests, 51 federal bird reserves, four national game preserves, five national parks and 18 national monuments on over 230 million acres of public land.

Today, the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt is found across the country. There are six national park sites dedicated, in part or whole, to our conservationist president.

I believe that it is mankind’s duty to use our God given natural resources. I also believe that God tasks us to use them wisely. I believe in waste not, want not.

Aldo Leopold wrote,

“Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land. By land is meant all of the things on, over, or in the earth. Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left. That is to say, you cannot love game and hate predators; you cannot conserve the waters and waste the ranges; you cannot build the forest and mine the farm. The land is one organism. Its parts, like our own parts, compete with each other and co-operate with each other. The competitions are as much a part of the inner workings as the co-operations. You can regulate them—cautiously—but not abolish them.”

Love the land and its creatures but partake of earth’s bounty.

As John James Audubon wrote,

“A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children.”

Environmentalism

Environmentalists, unlike conservationists, want to prevent mankind from using earth’s natural resources. Environmentalism wants to “save the planet” by sacrificing the lives, liberties and prosperity  of mankind.

An environmentalist is focused neither on nature nor on science. An environmentalist is focused on controlling pollution by controlling people. Environmentalists have killed millions of people (e.g. when environmentalists banned DDT which lead to the deaths of millions who succumbed to malaria in third world countries from infected mosquitoes).

In order to control the people environmentalists have over time pushed three myths (big lies):

  1. Myth #1: Human Extinction Due To Climate Change Is Imminent

Biden’s Build Back Better agenda has a climate basket.

Biden’s Climate Basket:

This basket is filled with green energy goodies. It’s the Green New Deal on steroids. Unfortunately, if you heat your home using natural gas or electricity you are being tricked because your energy bill will go up, not down. If you drive a car, SUV, truck or van that uses fossil fuels you have already seen gasoline and diesel prices go up over 33%. There’s no treats in this basket for us consumers too. For you see when the cost of energy goes up so do the prices of consumer goods. This basket is filled with tricks and no treats.

Here are three absolutes that John Casey, a good friend of mine, taught me about the climate:

  1. The climate changes.
  2. These changes of the climate follow natural cycles (e.g. summer, fall, winter, spring).
  3. There is nothing mankind can do to change these natural cycles.

Conclusion

I believe Theodore Roosevelt said it best, “To waste, to destroy our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed.”

It’s not about pollution at all.

Environmentalists want to reduce the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere. They forget that it’s CO2 that feeds the plants and makes them green and grow faster thereby producing more for mankind to consume. Remember learning about osmosis in high school?

Genesis 1: 27-30 reads:

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’ Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground–everything that has the breath of life in it–I give every green plant for food.’ And it was so.

Don’t fall for the environmentalist’s big lies. Believe in the truth. God’s truth.

We have been given great bounty and we are tasked to give thanks for it.

Remember what Edmund Burke wrote,

“There is but one law for all, namely that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity – the law of nature and of nations.”

As we approach Thanksgiving Day 2021 perhaps we should bow our heads in prayer and be most thankful for our conservationists who give us food, drink and with this bounty, health and prosperity.

BLM and MAGA form Extraordinary Backlash against Democrats

On a recent weekend in New York City, thousands of protesters gathered in Times Square. But the number of protesters wasn’t the headline. Rather it was the diversity of the crowd that was surprising. One sign indicative of the mood read, “Dear Democratic Party, you lost me at mandate. Sincerely, a lifelong liberal.”

It appears that the American people may have, finally, had enough. Indeed, we may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the Democrat Party. All without one Conservative even firing a single shot.

Mixed into the masses were MAGA folks like John Tabacco, New York City Conservative Activist and host of the Newsmax show “Wiseguys”. He’s convinced that “New Yorkers are finally coming together on this issue. Biden and the government overplayed their hand with these draconian vaccine mandates and as a result people are uniting on the right and left. This is the government’s worst nightmare.” Could it be true?

Marching alongside residents like Tabacco were equally incensed New Yorkers like Reverend Kevin McCall, a Black Lives Matter activist. Where MAGA rally-goers generally remain lawful and peaceful, unlike what mainstream media likes to portray, BLM protesters have no such parameters.

McCall “made it clear to the crowd that sometimes civil disobedience is the only way to get the government to listen.” Consistent with the group’s historic ideologies, the Reverend said “[t]he revolution will not be televised. The revolution is going to be in the streets. Yeah we can rally, yeah we can say ‘no justice no peace’, yeah we can scream ‘my body, my choice’ but the only thing that they respect is when we shut stuff down!”

Now we’re talking!

I’ve preached for years the necessity of using Saul Alinsky tactics in order to win the war against the left’s march towards communism. One of his most successful early strategies was to threaten boycotts of big corporations like Macy’s in New York City to force compliance with his bullying tactics in order to change policy. He never needed to actually shut down most of the companies. He merely used his Tactic #9: The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. If shareholders caught wind of Alinsky’s plans, it was enough to give protesters what they wanted. Conservatives have been cowering by the left’s threats alone ever since. Such wimps we are.

Now it appears Conservatives won’t have to do the heavy lifting, shameful as that may be. When all is said and done, it could all boil down to the age-old mantra, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Since last summer when I helped organize marches in my own downtown city, I’ve known that we somehow must unite people with varying goals if we want to slay the real dragon — the left. I held rallies with titles like “Black and White Unite for Blue” against defunding the police, for example. Only together, I preached, could Americans beat back the tyrannical stranglehold of the Marxists’ transformation of our country. But few listened back then.

That MAGA and BLM would later unite in a desperate sign of unity to save our country from the encroaching enslavement now becoming more visible to all is a dream come true. Timing is everything.

If ever there was a poster “boy” responsible for the chaos the COVID mandates have wrought, it’s Rachel Levine. He has just been promoted as the first female four-star officer ever in the armed forces of the United States of America. Who knew breaking the glass ceiling was as simple as a sex-change?

The openly transgender health official may best be remembered as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health who, at the height of the CCP-virus pandemic across America, forced infected patients to return to nursing homes after moving his own 95-year-old mother to safety. That hypocrisy is the root of the anger coming back to haunt the Dems.

According to The Gateway Pundit (TGP), at the swearing-in ceremony in an unabashedly candid display of hubris, Levine stated, “I stand on the shoulders of those LGBTQ plus individuals who came before me, both those known and unknown. May this appointment today be the first of many more to come as we create a diverse and more inclusive future.” Ugh.

It’s that kind of gross government blasphemy that has awakened otherwise complacent MAGA folks and the still-rational Democrats, including the less radical members of BLM. People are saying, enough is enough.

The even greater news is that this symbiotic unification isn’t only happening here in America. Uprisings are taking place worldwide.

Local organizers responsible for the NYC march have been coordinating with the World Wide Rally For Freedom. These are “ongoing bimonthly events planned all over the USA as well as in over 400 locations including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Israel, Lebanon, New Zealand, Scotland, Switzerland, Uruguay”, according to TGP.

The World Wide Demonstration (also known as the World Wide Rally For Freedom) website, “is an internationally syndicated community demonstration dedicated to emboldening citizens to push back against Coronavirus related restrictions in their countries. The event is deployed by member organizations in each city, with full local autonomy at the grass roots level.”

As whole city populations around the globe are rising up as one against the tyrannical mandates, so too are segmented groups of workers in varied occupations.

In Chicago, a third of the police force refused to comply with vaccine reporting requirements. While Mayor Lori Lightfoot is infamous for her “defund the police” policies, she is now accusing the officers of “fomenting an ‘insurrection’”. Dare she risk losing 30 percent of her city’s protective force? We know Democrats are insane of late. But, are they that suicidal? Apparently so.

Now police officers who’ve opted to retire rather than be vaccinated are at risk of losing their pensions under even more draconian measures. While the Fraternal Order of Police are telling their members to “hold the line,” nothing could unify Americans from all sides against Dems better than injustices like this.

Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe’s race in Virginia also encapsulates the division created by the Party’s rapidly degrading overreach. Exposing the entrenched tyrannical attitude so many Dems have adopted over the last decade, the once popular Governor may have just lost the gubernatorial race with one simple gaffe.

Proving his insensitivity towards a parents’ rights to their own kids’ education given the explosive Critical Race Theory topic prevalent today, McAuliffe said he didn’t “think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” The backlash has been immediate and diverse.

Could it be that Americans are finally waking up to our alarming loss of rights? Only time will tell. But, one thing is for certain: none of us can sit this one out, no matter what side of the fence we sit.

Is there risk in getting involved? You betchya. We are fighting pure evil. Recently a Patriot who joined a rally I organized was contacted by the FBI, most likely for their participation. Scary as it sounds, we must understand this is a long battle for the very survival of our country. To the left, this is war and they aim to win by any means necessary. We must be equally determined.

For far too long we’ve focused on fighting each other. That’s been by the left’s design. If we’re lucky, those days are numbered. In uniting we can at least have hope for freedom and justice for all once again.

Join the movement. Go to World Wide Demonstrations here and become part of history while we still have a chance.

FDR’s Economic Policies Were Closer to the Fascists’ Than His Defenders Will Admit

Fascism leaves business ownership in private hands, but at state direction.

If there is one thing the American political right and left agree on, it’s that the other side is fascist. The left thinks Trump is Mussolini; the right points to Big Tech suppressing political dissent. We even have an organization that styles itself, “AntiFa,” its chief means for fighting fascism being to dress all in black and beat its political opponents with clubs.

We live in interesting times.

But for all the accusations of fascism, justified or not, no one ever makes mention of the overtly fascist institution that dominates a large part of our lives: the New Deal.

No, I don’t mean the Green one, proposed by democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others. I mean the now hoary, 88-year-old New Deal inspired directly by Mussolini’s fascism and praised both by Adolph Hitler and Il Duce himself.

This isn’t to equate the whole of Roosevelt’s governance to Hitler’s or Mussolini’s. But in economic terms, Roosevelt was in lockstep with the fascists.

Fascism rejected socialism’s government ownership of the means of production. For this reason, the left imagines fascism to be an extreme form of capitalism. It isn’t. Fascism was more anti-capitalist than it was anti-socialist, according to Mussolini himself.

As Mussolini wrote, “Fascism is definitely and absolutely opposed to the doctrines of liberalism, both in the political and the economic sphere…The Fascist State lays claim to rule in the economic field no less than in others.”

Fascism left business ownership in private hands, but at state direction. Business owners may have retained title ownership, but they largely produced what the state told them to produce, sold at prices dictated by the state, and made future plans based upon the needs and dictates of the state, rather than their individual interpretation of market signals.

FDR did precisely the same things under the pretense of fighting the Depression. The Supreme Court struck down a few of his worst abuses, but the fascist regulatory structure he built not only remains in place to this day; it has continued to metastasize.

Fascism was also anti-democratic. It was “opposed to that form of democracy which equates a nation to the majority,” wrote Mussolini. Thus, the rules governing society, including economic activity, were made by an unelected bureaucracy taking its direction from a supreme leader who embodied the state and therefore the spirit of the nation.

The New Deal is similarly anti-democratic. Not only does it transfer myriad decisions previously made by private business owners to the government, it allows those decisions to be made by unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch.

This unconstitutional transfer of legislative power from Congress to the executive was rationalized away by New Dealers and their SCOTUS enablers by drawing an arbitrary distinction between legislation and “regulation.” This is dishonest. Whenever government officials write enforceable directives that either require or prohibit human action, they are legislating, no matter what those written directives are called.

These regulations are presented to the public with benign motivations like safety and fairness, just as Mussolini posited his fascist state, “concentrates, controls, harmonizes and tempers the interests of all social classes, which are thereby protected in equal measure.”

In effect, they amount to the government dictating the minute details of business operations to the owners.

This has several deleterious effects. First, it stifles creativity. Enforcing compliance with hundreds of thousands of regulations naturally tends towards all businesses being run the same way. Revolutionary improvements like the assembly line and mass production could never have occurred under the New Deal.

Who knows what innovation has been stifled since?

Second, all this compliance has a cost, which is much more easily borne by large firms than small ones. As time goes by and the regulatory burden gets heavier, the advantage of large firms over small widens. This has the effect of promoting consolidation and elimination of marginal producers.

In a laissez faire market, there is always a natural tension between large firms with economies of scale and smaller ones that can adapt more quickly to changing market conditions. Both the cost burden of regulation and its stifling of innovation neutralize the strengths of smaller firms and tilt the playing field dramatically towards large ones.

Yet, ironically, the New Deal is most staunchly defended by progressives who claim to oppose big business and support “the little guy.”

Third, the New Deal inevitably leads to what we now call “regulatory capture,” meaning the large corporations themselves writing the regulations that govern them. When the government’s job is merely to prosecute crimes and referee civil actions, it can be accomplished by competent attorneys. But when the government aspires to regulate the minute details of business operations, it requires in-depth knowledge of the regulated industries, including understanding of sophisticated machinery and other technologies, supply chains, specific market conditions, etc.

Only an industry insider can provide that level of expertise. And so, the government must go to these insiders for recommendations on how to make their own industries “safer,” “fairer,” etc. Naturally, the government will turn to the largest firms, understood to be the most efficient, and who also have the money to lobby.

Anyone truly committed to ridding America of fascism should concern themselves less with what politicians they don’t like say or post on social media and instead support repealing the New Deal root and branch.

Stunning New Study Undercuts the Case for Vaccine Mandates

The study does stress that vaccination has a clear personal health benefit, drastically reducing the chance of serious illness or death once infected with COVID-19.

With President Biden’s federal vaccine mandate and local government employment mandates looming, the future of countless workers is up in the air. Yet new research undercuts the stated justification for these mandates.

Big-government politicians claim that vaccine mandates are necessary because unvaccinated individuals are a danger to not just themselves but society. They argue that choosing to remain unvaccinated exacerbates the spread of the deadly virus. But according to a new study published in the Lancet, this doesn’t appear to be true.

“People inoculated against Covid-19 are just as likely to spread the delta variant of the virus to contacts in their household as those who haven’t had shots, according to new research,” Bloomberg reports. “In a yearlong study of 621 people in the U.K. with mild Covid-19, scientists found that their peak viral load was similar regardless of vaccination status, according to a paper published Thursday in The Lancet Infectious Diseases medical journal.”

“The analysis also found that 25% of vaccinated household contacts still contracted the disease from an index case, while 38% of those who hadn’t had shots became infected,” the report continues. “The results go some way toward explaining why the delta variant is so infectious even in nations with successful vaccine rollouts, and why the unvaccinated can’t assume they are protected because others have had shots.”

The study does stress that vaccination has a clear personal health benefit, drastically reducing the chance of serious illness or death once infected with COVID-19.

“Those who were inoculated cleared the virus more quickly and had milder cases, while unvaccinated household members were more likely to suffer from severe disease and hospitalization,” Bloomberg summarizes. Yet the protection did not extend to the elimination of transmission.

“Our findings show that vaccination alone is not enough to prevent people from being infected with the delta variant and spreading it in household settings,” study co-author Ajit Lalvani said.

We should be clear about the uncertainty in this conversation. We don’t truly know how much, if at all, the vaccines reduce transmission of the disease; different research has found different results for different variants and different vaccines. Yet this uncertainty itself renders much of the stated interpersonal benefit from vaccine mandates purely speculative.

The vaccines do appear to highly reduce the chance of hospitalization or death from COVID-19. That’s why I chose to take the COVID vaccine and have encouraged several people in my life who are at risk of COVID to do so. But the fact remains that the main benefit of COVID vaccination is personal, not societal.

This is why Stanford epidemiologist Jay Bhattacharya calls the development of these vaccines “a wonderful achievement” that has “protected so many people from severe outcomes of the disease,” but ultimately concludes that vaccination is a matter of personal health—not public health.

Bhattacharya and experts like him are right. As evidenced by “breakthrough cases” and research like this new study, COVID vaccines clearly do not prevent transmission of the virus. The main benefits are for individuals themselves. Proponents of big government mandates have no compelling case for overriding individual choice on fundamental questions of bodily autonomy.

PODCAST: Send In The Military…

We’re hearing a lot about a massive supply chain problem whereby we do not have enough port workers and truck drivers to unload and ship materials throughout the country. Imports are radically up, and exports lag woefully behind, a telltale sign of problems with trade and the economy. Experts claim this supply chain problem will have an adverse effect on our upcoming holiday shopping season. To compensate, the Biden Administration proudly announced a deal to keep certain ports open around the clock, but the fact remains there are worker shortages.

Let’s be clear, under normal circumstances we would have enough longshoremen and truck drivers to maintain the supply chain, but these are unusual times. To illustrate, inflation is up, and as Bloomberg reports, “It now costs as much as $25,000 to import a 40-foot container from Asia, up from less than $2,000 two years ago.” The fact fuel has spiraled upwards since the beginning of the year also adds to the cost of living.

Nonetheless, we now have bottlenecks at our ports to accept imports, (with empty ships leaving with our exports), and we have an immediate need for manpower. The most obvious remedy is to use the military for both unloading ships and trucking. Some might argue this is a waste of military talent. Not really, as they have been doing such tasks for a long time. Nor is it without precedent.

I find it interesting most Americans have already forgotten President Ronald Reagan’s problem with FAA air-traffic controllers back in 1981. As a quick history lesson, this occurred just seven months into Reagan’s first term. At the time, the Professional Air-Traffic Controllers Association (PATCO) had gone on strike over wanting federal pay increases and a shorter work week. Almost immediately, this caused pandemonium in commercial flight schedules with many delays and cancellations. This brought the country to the brink of closing down air transportation.

Angered, President Reagan warned the members of PATCO to return to work or face termination. The union defiantly resisted, thereby causing Reagan to fire over 11,000 air-traffic controllers. Further, these people became ineligible to be re-hired. Now, without air-traffic controllers, the President called on the military to replace the union until new controllers could be found. It was a slow process, which affected business worldwide, but proved to be an effective means to solve the problem. Flights resumed and the country returned to normal.

This is precisely the type of action we need today. We may not have a defiant union to deal with, but we do have an immediate crunch-problem in terms of workers. If the Biden Administration is serious about fixing the problem, bringing in the military on an interim basis is a no-brainer. Think about it; what is the point of opening up our ports 24/7 if we lack the manpower to unload the ships and truck the merchandise? That is like buying a gun without any bullets; it’s totally useless.

Keep the Faith!

DeSantis Claus: Florida Ports Report Record Volumes As Governor Vows To Save Christmas

By: Political Insider, October 30, 2021:

Florida ports have reported record volume in 2021 even as supply chain shortages flourish under the Biden administration. The news comes as Governor Ron DeSantis has vowed to do everything he can to save Christmas during the crisis.

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) reported handling an all-time record volume in 2021, processing more than 1.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units during the year. The number marks a 10% increase from 2020.

Port Manatee announced similar success.

“Despite dealing with supply chain issues that are plaguing the country, Port Manatee has broken a record for imports with increased production,” Bay News 9 reports.

The success of the ports handling record volume comes as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a very different approach to save Christmas than the Biden administration or the media.

Supply chain issues have become so prevalent of late that White House officials warned in regards to Christmas shopping this year, “There will be things that people can’t get.”

Is Biden Creating a ‘Fourth Reich’ in America?

“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.” – Senator Barry Goldwater (R-AZ)

“We do not merely destroy our enemies; we change them.” ― George Orwell, 1984

Fourth Reich Rising

QUESTION: Are there similarities between Hitler’s Third Reich and the Biden Administration?

Since Biden’s election we have seen a dramatic increase in government control. Some are comparing what Biden is doing today as similar to what Hitler did after he took power in Germany on January 30, 1933. Hitler’s regime was called the Third Reich. Hitler fundamentally transformed Germany into a dictatorship.

Are Biden, his administration, Democrats in Congress, at the local, county and state levels all working in concert to fundamentally transform America into a dictatorship?

The following is a brief history of what Hitler did when he took power in 1933. We then compare what Hitler did to what Biden has done since his inauguration on January 20th to date.

The Third Reich

The Holocaust Museum makes these key points about what Hitler did, once elected Chancellor, to create the Third Reich:

  1. The Nazi rise to power brought an end to the Weimar Republic, a parliamentary democracy established in Germany after World War I.
  2. Following the appointment of Adolf Hitler as chancellor on January 30, 1933, the Nazi state (also referred to as the Third Reich) quickly became a regime in which Germans enjoyed no guaranteed basic rights.
  3. After a suspicious fire in the Reichstag (the German Parliament), on February 28, 1933, the government issued a decree which suspended constitutional civil rights and created a state of emergency in which official decrees could be enacted without parliamentary confirmation.
  4. In the first months of Hitler’s chancellorship, the Nazis instituted a policy of “coordination”—the alignment of individuals and institutions with Nazi goals.
  5. Culture, the economy, education, and law all came under Nazi control.
  6. The Nazi regime also attempted to “coordinate” the German churches and, although not entirely successful, won support from a majority of Catholic and Protestant clergymen.
  7. Extensive propaganda was used to spread the regime’s goals and ideals.
  8. Hitler had the final say in both domestic legislation and German foreign policy.
  9. Open criticism of the regime was suppressed by the Gestapo (secret state police) and the Security Service (SD) of the Nazi party, but Hitler’s government was popular with most Germans.

Another historical comparison between today and Nazi Germany

The Fourth Reich

QUESTION: Like Hitler fundamentally transformed Germany into the Third Reich, is Biden also doing fundamentally the same things to transform America into a dictatorship/Fourth Reich?

Let’s compare what Hitler did to what has happened since Biden was elected president on January 20th, 2021.

  1. Biden, like Hitler, is ending America’s Constitutional Republican form of government with a radical expansion of powers under the executive branch of government. OSHA and the CDC are using Covid to reshape our freedoms to choose our job, healthcare and economic futures.
  2. Americans, like under Hitler, are seeing their guarantied basic rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness stripped away. Government mandates are replacing our basic rights. If you don’t obey and get vaxxed you lose your job. As more and more people vote for a living rather than work for a living we can understand how Democrats, like Hitler, gain more and more power over the individual.
  3. The January 6th, 2021 protest in Washington, D.C is being used by Biden and Democrats, just as Hitler did using the Reichstag fire, as an excuse to oppress all political opponents. Those who participated in the Save America peaceful protest have had their constitutional rights taken away. They have been imprisoned, abused and even tortured. The Biden administration, and the Democrats in Congress, are demonizing those who peacefully protested the results of the 2020 election.
  4. Under Biden’s “Build Back Better Agenda” we are seeing the coordination —the alignment of individuals and institutions— with Democrat Party goals. The Green New Deal impacts all major institutions. The vaccination mandates have clearly hit all companies with 100 or more employees. From manufacturing, to healthcare, to law enforcement, to first responders, to our public schools, all are impacted.
  5. Since Biden’s inauguration we are witness a “cultural war” against those who do not agree with the policies and politics of the Democrat Party. If you are a parent and speak out against Biden’s plan to put Critical Race Theory in every classroom, then your are labeled a domestic terrorist by the FBI. If you don’t get jabbed then you’ll be punished. If you don’t obey your family won’t eat.
  6. Propaganda is the foundation upon which the Biden administration is built. The legacy media, social media, the White House press secretary are in full agreement that telling the big lie (propaganda) is the best pathway to keeping power. Anything negative about Biden is either suppressed or spun to make Biden look competent and his opponents look like enemies of the state. Lies are being told by members of the Executive Branch daily. The “big lie” is now the standard operating procedure of Biden and his handlers.
  7. Biden has coopted many Jewish, Catholic and Protestant clergymen. Churches fear losing their tax exempt status as Biden weaponizes the IRS.
  8. Biden’s handlers have the final say on all domestic legislation and U.S. foreign policy. Even if those policies are dangerous domestically and overseas. From Biden’s immigration policy of open borders, to kowtowing to our enemies like Iran, China and Russia, to leaving Americans behind in Afghanistan. All are disasters.
  9. Oppression. Biden is using the FBI to go after parents who disagree with what is being taught in our public schools. The FBI is complicit in suppressing opposition to Biden and Democrats. Some even suggest that the FBI is the new Stasi, the Ministry for State Security, or State Security Service, the official state security service of the German Democratic Republic. It has been described as one of the most effective and repressive intelligence and secret police agencies to have ever existed until Biden came along, that is.
  10. Biden’s policies are becoming less and less popular with the American people. However, there are hard core groups like Antifa, Black Lives Matter, Democrat Socialists like AOC, Nazi collaborator George Soros and the organizations he funds, and others who embrace Biden’s Fourth Reich.

Conclusion

Is Biden using a cultural war to create a Fourth Reich?

Daily we are seeing the negative impacts of Biden’s policies on our culture, economy, religious institutions, law enforcement, courts, industries and families. Americans are experiencing higher gasoline prices, higher prices for goods and services and serious supply chain issues due to lack of union workers at the ports along the Western seaboard states.

As Bill Clinton said, “It’s the economy stupid.”

The Third Reich ended violently. Will Biden’s Fourth Reich end peacefully or will there be a second American Revolution? #Let’sGoBrandon is becoming the rallying cry of free Americans.

Many are saying enough is enough! The political animosity against Biden is on the rise as his polling numbers have dramatically sunken.

Will Americans wait until the 2022 mid-term elections to make a statement or will they be forced to take up arms against Biden’s Fourth Reich?

Time will tell. Gird your loins.

FACT: ‘The Unvaccinated Are the New Jews’ – Don’t Let the Left Tell You Otherwise (Video)

German Political Activist And Former Lawyer Horst Mahler – Major Proponent Of The “Fourth Reich”

Do Democrats Suffer From An Extreme Case Of Confirmation Bias?

Parents Love Their Children. Departments of Education Do Not.

Who really knows what is in a child’s best interest?

Many US schoolboard elections take place in the coming week, yet many of them have become battlegrounds.

One critic writes of “the Balkanization of the US population into distinct and rigid political groups that fight for control over what content ought to be taught in their public schools.” “Bizarre hysteria about Critical Race Theory” and bitter opposition to mask mandates are seen as proof of alarming agendas at work.

Others see democracy at risk. Institutions which teach civics are hosting shouting matches. Community participation is at risk because board members are demonised.

The New York Times sees school boards as a new Vietnam where parents have become proxies for Republican imperialists seeking to snuff out truth, justice and the American way. Parents, it argues, have become unwitting pawns of political interests.

Incredibly, the White House helped to politicise this issue. One month ago the executives of the National School Boards Association colluded with the Biden Administration to send a public appeal to the President for intervention. This triggered a (subsequently rescinded) direction to the FBI to clamp down on “domestic terrorism and hate crimes” by parents and others against school board members. Parents have become enemies.

Despite the Washington Post railing against parental overreach, parents might indeed claim the opposite, that they are opposing the infiltration of woke values and calculating incompetence. In recent weeks parents’ rights colour debate in the  gubernatorial elections for Virginia and New Jersey that come to a head on November 2. In Virginia, education is polling as the second most important election issue. Yet in Virginia a prominent parents’ rights advocate has been suspended  by Twitter in the past week. Who is surprised?

What is to be made of all this?

Any proposal that parents should not be the primary figures responsible for the education of children ignores the lessons of history.

Quickly one glimpses the mischief wrought when parents are sidelined. In Australia there is the tragedy of the stolen indigenous generation when, over a period of the first 70 years of the 20th Century the state forcibly removed half-caste children from their parents and institutionalised them. Often this was with the best of intentions!

And when intentions are less than noble, what evil follows! Think of the stern words of warning to German parents by Pius XI in the face of the Hitler Youth and the Bund Deutscher Mädel (the League of German Girls, a parallel group to Hitler Youth):

“From the bond of responsibility established by God that binds you to your children, no earthly power can loose you. No one … will be able to answer for you to the Eternal Judge when he asks you the question, ‘Where are those I have given you?’ May every one of you be able to answer: ‘Of them you have given me, I have not lost anyone’.”

Inge Scholl was the elder sister of Hans and Sophie Scholl, university students who were executed for spreading treason against the Nazi regime. Based on her own experience of the Bund Deutscher Mädel wrote of the power of collective indoctrination to challenge parental values:

“We entered into it with body and soul, and we could not understand why our father did not approve, why he was not happy and proud. On the contrary, he was quite displeased with us; at times he would say, ‘Don’t believe them – they are wolves and deceivers, and they are misusing the German people shamefully.’ Sometimes he would compare Hitler to the Pied Piper of Hamelin, who with his flute led the children to destruction. But Father’s words were spoken to the wind, and attempts to restrain us were of no avail against our youthful enthusiasm.”

Think of the evils wrought by Chinese children waving the Little Red Book during the Cultural Revolution. The radical Brazilian educator Paolo Freire also looked to education to sow ideologies of revolution. And in Victoria we see this repeated in the gender ideology spruiked by the Safe Schools and similar programs seeding the upsurge of teenage girls with rapid onset gender dysphoria.

“Just another brick in the wall” sings Pink Floyd.

We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone

Never was this more brought home to me than in my second year of teaching. From the staff room I could hear all too clearly in the adjoining classroom a disillusioned recently-divorced teacher advising the 16-year-old girls in her care never to get married.

Insights from philosophy and theology

As noted by Leo Strauss and Allan Bloom among many others, the ancient Greek philosopher Plato was deliberately satirical in his proposal in The Republic that children be removed from parents. The key passage is 592b where Plato reveals that his political proposal is not possible. In another dialogue, the Laws, he explicitly upholds the role of the family.

But this is not just a question of opinion, or competing policies, but of compelling social principles. At the heart of the mutual obligations that bind us to one another in society are the five timeless principles of social justice: human dignitycommon goodsolidarity and participation, and subsidiarity. It is subsidiarity that recognises autonomy to be a feature of human dignity and that therefore all matters should be handled by the competent authority at the lowest level, in ways most respectful of the rights and autonomy of the individual.

It is parents who are responsible for their children and it is reasonable for them to outsource tasks in which they need assistance. Parents need experts to teach their children calculus or Shakespeare. It is not reasonable to outsource moral and character formation, sex education, and religious education to the state.

Pope John Paul II wrote that “the right and duty of parents to give education … is irreplaceable and inalienable, and therefore incapable of being entirely delegated to others.” This is a direct consequence, the 1983 Catholic Code of Canon Law argues, “since they have given life to their children”.

The heart of the issue

It is the height of foolishness to reduce education to purely pragmatic questions, or for parents to entrust the formation of their child’s heart to someone other than themselves. It is the height of arrogance for bureaucrats or school boards to require this.

And there is one simple reason for this. A family is a school of love. Alvaro del Portillo, now beatified by the Catholic Church, coined this expression:

“It is precisely in the family – a communion of persons among whom reigns a free disinterested and generous love – the place, the context in which, more than anywhere else one learns to love. The family is a true school of love. “

Happiness in life comes down to whether or not we have successfully learned to live for others. The family is the natural place where such love is learned because it is in a family that help is given without seeking anything in return. No institution can ever offer this.
