From Doublethink, to the Disinformation Governance Board to the coming Biden Ministry of Propaganda

“The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink.” ― George Orwell, 1984

“Doublethink: a simultaneous belief in two contradictory ideas.”Merriam-Webster

Today in America we are witnessing the full embrace and implementation of doublethink by our current administration, its cabinet and all of our government departments.

QUESTION: How has this fundamental transformation of our federal government taken place?

On May 4th, 2020 Biden clearly stated that Covid provides, “ [An] incredible opportunity…to fundamentally transform the country.”

Watch:

At that precise moment in time Biden and his administration began to implement “doublethink” as they fundamentally transformed our government, our economy, our judicial system, our freedoms, our liberties and our culture.

This transformation was all done in a methodical step by step manner: from lockdowns, to mandates to propaganda, to cultural transformation to the Department of Homeland Security ((DHS) establishing a Disinformation Governance Board, a.k.a. Ministry of Truth. It is no quirk that the Disinformation Governance Board is under the umbrella of the DHS rather than the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC has no powers to surveille and arrest. The DHS does. It can also designate an individual, organization or political party as domestic terrorists.

Disinformation Governance Board was put under DHS to allow the federal government to monitor, arrest, detain and imprison its social, cultural, and political enemies.

The U.S. Ministry of Propaganda, Est. May 4, 2020

Before, during and after the inauguration of Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. we began to see the government moving away from protecting individual rights and liberties to taking away individual rights and liberties.

The Biden administration began implementing a series of mandates from social distancing to face masks to Covid vaccinations to Covid booster shots to restrictions on our ability to greater government control of we the peoples’ life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Propaganda has become the great tool of the Democrat Party. That Russia stole the 2016 election was bought and paid for propaganda by the Clinton campaign. The Covid pandemic is a crisis that Democrats have taken great advantage of by pushing propaganda, and with it mass fear and hysteria, in order to expand government powers.

Today the federal government is just one small step away from officially establishing a Ministry of Propaganda.

FROM JFK TO JRB: How Democrats Become Despicable, Dangerous and Despised

I was a JFK Democrat. President John F. Kennedy was my idol while growing up. JFK was a war hero who was elected the first Catholic President of these United States of America. As a Catholic I was overwhelmed by JFK. He was a passionate man, a man dedicated to defending the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

JFK was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. It was JFK who introduced the lighter ArmaLite (AR) M-15 rifle, in NATO 5.56 caliber, into military arsenals over the objections of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The generals wanted the heavier M-14 rifle in the NATO 7.62 caliber.

JFK hated communism as evidenced by his policies to undermine the former Soviet Union, his operation, known as the “Bay of Pigs” invasion, of Communist Cuba under Castro and his expansion of U.S. military presence in South Vietnam to stand against the North Vietnamese Communists.

JFK and his brother Robert were pro-law enforcement and anti-crime. Just look at how AG Robert Kennedy went after organized crime.

From JFK to JRB

Fast forward to 2022 and we can clearly see the stark differences between these two “Democrats”, who are the only two “Catholic” presidents, John F. Kennedy and Joe R. Biden.

The differences couldn’t be more profound. While JFK wanted to engage with the American people as equal partners, Biden told the America people to obey his mandates or face the consequences (e.g. get jabbed or lose your job, declaring parents enemies of the state).

Benjamin Shapell and Sara Willen in their “The John F. Kennedy Centenary” wrote:

Kennedy, the first President born in the 20th century, and 27 years younger than his predecessor, Dwight D. Eisenhower, had just declared that the torch had been passed to a new generation of Americans – “born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage” – and pledged to “pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” Then he spoke the seventeen words – “And so, my fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you –  ask what you can do for your country.”

JFK stated during his inaugural address, “And the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility. I welcome it.”

Joe Biden is the antithesis of JFK.

Biden has laid out the following goals for his “Build Back Better” agenda:

  1. “Build a Modern Infrastructure” [More government spending]
  2. “Position the U.S. Auto Industry to Win the 21st Century with technology invented in America” [Mandate the auto industry comply or else]
  3. “Achieve a Carbon Pollution-Free Power Sector by 2035” [Green New Deal]
  4. “Make Dramatic Investments in Energy Efficiency in Buildings, including Completing 4 Million Retrofits and Building 1.5 Million New Affordable Homes” [More Green New Deal mandates]
  5. “Pursue a Historic Investment in Clean Energy Innovation” [Green New Deal on asteroids]
  6. “Advance Sustainable Agriculture and Conservation” [Famers required to be green or else]
  7. “Secure Environmental Justice and Equitable Economy Opportunity” [Equal people are not free and free people are not equal]

Which Democrat is more pro-American? Which president is more Catholic? Which president is dedicated to we the people?

Conclusion

Everyone is now laughing at the Biden administration. Biden and his handlers (he has handlers because he is incompetent) are the laughing stock of the whole world.

What is even sadder is that his policies and political positions are now harming working class Americans. Consumer confidence has now reached a 22 year low. It has not been this low since the DotCom implosion under Bill Clinton.

From Biden’s broken national security policies, to his disaster in Afghanistan, to the ongoing border crisis (the border patrol estimated that illegal aliens will top a million for the month of September), to a dangerous immigration policy, to the Democrat controlled Congress’ bills that raise taxes, increase spending and turn one group against another have many Americans of all races crying. Add to all of these failures the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. When will it stop?

Biden is now openly anti-American in everything that he, and his administration, does. Americans are today paying over $2.50 more per gallon of gasoline at the pump. Oil prices reached $100 per barrel, double the price under Trump prior to the virus from China. And Biden is just getting started on implementing draconian energy policies to “save the planet” from climate change.

At the Commencement Address at Yale University, June 11th, 1962 John F. Kennedy said, “The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie–deliberate, contrived and dishonest–but the myth–persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I judge people, and presidents, by the content of their characters. JFK had character. JRB is a caricature.

The DHS thought police are here. Gird your loins. We have 2 more years of JRB.

Rantz: School cancels 4th grade play over ‘cultural appropriation’ complaints with little notice

By: 770 KKTH, Apr 27, 2022

An elementary school in Tacoma canceled a 4th grade performance of Lewis and Clark with just over a week’s notice because of two complaints.

Lowell Elementary principal Renee Rossman informed parents on Tuesday, April 26th, that she was pulling the plug on the play. She said it depicted stereotypes and engaged in cultural appropriation.

The decision caught parents and children by surprise. The performance was set for May 5th.

Rantz: Bethel School District teachers, staff are using students to pass school levy
‘Cultural appropriation’

After receiving two complaints from parents, Rossman made the surprise announcement claiming the play is inappropriate.

“It is essential that our school promote respect for all cultures and people. We must not perpetuate stereotypes or engage in cultural appropriation. After thoughtful consideration along with Racial Justice training at Lowell for all staff, I have decided to cancel the 4th grade performance of Lewis and Clark,” Rossman wrote in a letter obtained by the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH.

Lewis and Clark follow Meriwether Lewis and William Clark as they “discover the Great Unknown West.” It reportedly involves a “hostile encounter” with the Teton Sioux and depicts Sacagawea as she helped the two explore the land.

“I know students have been preparing and may feel disappointed, but we ask for your support as we take this time to reflect, learn and revise our practices,” Rossman wrote.

Due to the short time frame between the letter and the play’s scheduled performance, the principal said she would not schedule another play this school year.

Beyond the letter, there was no detailed explanation as to what was offensive about a play written for children. Rossman also does not explain the concern about cultural appropriation, though one parent suspects it’s because the students who depict Native Americans are white.

A school spokesperson says the decision was made in consultation with district officials.

“After receiving complaints from parents about the play, the school and district reviewed the script. The script contains cultural stereotypes that misrepresent the customs and traditions of Native Americans. We initially sought to revise the script but determined given the timeline it was not possible,” the spokesperson explained via email to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH.

Senate Democrats Want Hearings On the Threat That There Might Be Free Speech on Twitter

Democrats enjoyed a largely compliant Big Tech cartel that was eager to censor conservatives. Now that might change, at least on Twitter, they’re reacting with the grace and dignity that tinpot fascists are always known for.

Some key Senate Democrats are considering calling Elon Musk to testify on his plans to remake Twitter, amid broader calls in Congress for new regulations for tech and social media companies.

There are no imminent plans for hearings, but, “We’re thinking about it,” Senate Commerce Chair Maria Cantwell said in an interview Thursday.

This is what’s known as intimidation. Or more relevantly, government coercion. To cite Justice Thomas, government coercion of a company can bring the First Amendment into play.

None of this analysis means, however, that the First Amendment is irrelevant until a legislature imposes common carrier or public accommodation restrictions—only that the principal means for regulating digital platforms is through those methods. Some speech doctrines might still apply in limited circumstances, as this Court has recognized in the past. For example, although a “private entity is not ordinarily constrained by the First Amendment,” Halleck, 587 U. S., at ___, ___ (slip op., at 6, 9), it is if the government coerces or induces it to take action the government itself would not be permitted to do, such as censor expression of a lawful viewpoint. Ibid. Consider government threats. “People do not lightly disregard public officers’ thinly veiled threats to institute criminal proceedings against them if they do not come around.” Bantam Books, Inc. v. Sullivan, 372 U. S. 58, 68 (1963). The government cannot accomplish through threats of adverse government action what the Constitution prohibits it from doing directly. See ibid.; Blum v. Yaretsky, 457 U. S. 991, 1004–1005 (1982). Under this doctrine, plaintiffs might have colorable claims against a digital platform if it took adverse action against them in response to government threats.

But back to Senate Dems throwing around threats of government coercion in response to the urgent threat of free speech.

Senator Ed Markey, a member of the Commerce Committee who has called for new laws regulating large tech companies, said that a hearing with Musk was necessary given Twitter’s importance.

“It’s a technology which is central to democracy and our economy and it is important for the representatives of the American people to hear what the new owners intend on using that technology to accomplish,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in an interview. “We have to understand the censorship or lack thereof, content moderation or not, that is going to be the policy for the new owner.”

Ed is a bit old and so despite the claims to having invented the internet, he slipped and said the “C” word. It’s understandable because censorship is what these folks want.

Former Honduran President Charged With Smuggling Huge Quantities of Narcotics Into US: Meanwhile, Biden’s border policies facilitate smuggling operations.

On April 21, 2022 the Department of Justice issued a press release that announced, Juan Orlando Hernández, Former President of Honduras, Indicted on Drug-Trafficking and Firearms Charges, Extradited to the United States from Honduras.  The subtitle of that DOJ news release provided a bit more specificity, Hernández Allegedly Partnered with Some of the Largest Cocaine Traffickers in the World to Transport Tons of Cocaine through Honduras to the United States.

The news release began with this excerpt:
Juan Orlando Hernández, aka JOH, 53, the former President of Honduras, will make his initial appearance tomorrow, April 22, before Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron in federal court in New York after being extradited today from Honduras. A federal court unsealed drug-trafficking and weapons charges today in a superseding indictment against Hernández.
The indictment charges that from at least in or about 2004, up to and including in or about 2022, Hernández, the former two-term President of Honduras, participated in a corrupt and violent drug-trafficking conspiracy to facilitate the importation of hundreds of thousands of kilograms of cocaine into the United States. Hernández allegedly received millions of dollars to use his public office, law enforcement, and the military to support drug-trafficking organizations in Honduras, Mexico, and elsewhere.
It is more than a bit ironic that the DOJ would pursue and tout the prosecution of an alleged high level drug trafficker while simultaneously the Biden administration has done everything imaginable- and even unimaginable, to undermine the security of the U.S. Southern border though which unprecedented quantities of deadly drugs and unprecedented numbers of illegal aliens easily flow into the United States.
While Biden’s border policies are bad news for Americans they are certainly good news for the Profiteers of Biden Administration’s Open Borders Policy.
As horrendous as this situation is, even as you read my commentary, the Biden Administration is preparing to terminate the protection provided by Title 42 that was implemented by the Trump administration as one of the measures he implemented to protect Americans against the COVID-19 virus.
While Title 42 addresses illegal aliens, as the number of illegal aliens entering the United States increases and  overwhelms beleaguered Border Patrol agents, these agents are forced to deal with this human tsunami and are therefore not able to provide border security to prevent the illegal entry of both illegal aliens and contraband, particular deadly drugs.
Simply stated, the Biden open border policies have enriched the drug traffickers, alien smugglers and human traffickers (often one and the same) immensely.
As a direct consequence, historic numbers of illegal aliens around the world have flooded into the U.S., along with record quantities of narcotics and other contraband, resulting in record numbers drug overdose deaths.
As I noted in my recent article about the prosecution of the former president of Honduras,
The administration’s policies are encouraging and facilitating the flood of deadly narcotics and criminals into the United States while enriching the violent and pernicious drug cartels and human traffickers who, thanks to Joe Biden, now have operational control over America’s borders.
It is worth considering an official statement issued by Attorney General Garland on April 21, 2022 about the extradition and prosecution of Juan Orlando Hernández that at it conclusion included the following excerpt:
The Justice Department is committed to disrupting the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking networks that harm the American people, no matter how far or how high we must go.
As the DEA Administrator will explain in more detail, today’s charges are part of our broader efforts to disrupt the activities of the most violent and extensive drug-trafficking organizations and gangs.
The Justice Department is taking a comprehensive approach to protecting our communities and our country from violent crime and from the scourge of deadly drugs.

We will work to support the communities most impacted by drug addiction and abuse

We will work with our partners to hold drug traffickers accountable for their crimes.

And we will confront corruption and criminal conduct anywhere that undermines the security of the American people.

If the Attorney General is truly committed to combatting violent drug trafficking organizations, as he stated in his own words, “…will confront corruption and criminal conduct anywhere that undermines the security of the American people.”-  The obvious question is why doesn’t he and his Justice Department begin at our wide-open southern border?
In point of fact, in this regard, I would call your attention to the Unsealed Criminal Indictment provided by the DOJ concerning this case.
That indictment goes into quite some detail about how allegedly hundreds of tons of cocaine were moved from Colombia and Venezuela to Honduras and the onward to Guatemala.  From Guatemala the narcotics was allegedly moved by boats and other means to the United States in coordination of the extremely violent Mexican Sinaloa Drug Cartel.  It is more than likely that the drugs were also smuggled across the U.S./Mexican border into the United States.
If the goal of the administration was to combat the huge quantities of narcotics flooding into the United States though this alleged smuggling operations and other operation run by other drug cartels and drug smuggling operations, we are again forced to ask why our border was not made as secure as possible instead of having been all but eradicated?

If the Attorney General is truly committed to protecting America and Americans why has he utterly ignored the importance of our immigration laws to combat transnational criminals, international terrorist organizations and drug cartels and, in so doing, violated the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission that determined that border security is national security??

The importance of effective immigration law enforcement to protect America and Americans was my focus in my earlier article, AG Garland Ignores Vital Immigration Law Enforcement

In that article I called upon my 30 years of real-world experience as a former INS Special Agent.  My highly diverse career included a four year assignment as the first INS Special Agent assigned to the Unified Intelligence Division of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration in New York City whereupon I was promoted to the position of Senior Special Agent and assigned to the Organized Crime, Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).

During my testimony at one of the first Congressional hearings at which I testified about immigration law enforcement I made the point that you only have one opportunity to make a first impression.  For millions of people around the world, the way America enforces and administers the immigration laws provide that first impression because those are the first laws that they are likely to encounter.

The Biden administration’s immigration policies coupled with the insanity of supposed Criminal Justice and Bail Reform have created a very dangerous first impression- particularly to the enemies of our nation and the criminals who seek to ply their respective “trades” here.

In the United States violations of our borders and our laws will not only be tolerated but richly rewarded.

On March 20, 2013 I testified before a hearing conducted by the Senate Judiciary Committee on the topic, Building An Immigration System Worthy Of American Values..  As bad as things were under the Obama administration. The Biden Administration policies have made things exponentially worse.

The conclusion of my prepared testimony for that hearing in 2013 will serve as the conclusion for my commentary today:

Law enforcement is at its best when it creates a climate of deterrence to convince those who might be contemplating violating the law that such an effort is likely to be discovered and that if discovered, adverse consequences will result for the law violators. Current policies and statements by the administration, in my view, encourages aspiring illegal aliens around the world to head for the United States. In effect the starter’s pistol has been fired and for these folks, the finish line to this race is the border of the United States.

Back when I was an INS special agent I recall that Doris Meissner who was, at the time, the commissioner of the INS, said that the agency needed to be “customer oriented.” Unfortunately, while I agree about the need to be customer oriented what Ms Meissner and too many politicians today seem to have forgotten is that the “customers” of the INS and of our government in general, are the citizens of the United States of America.

ANIMAL CRUELTY: New Report Reveals the Federal Government Is Spending Millions To Get Animals High

Research indicates that the federal government is actually responsible for the vast majority of animal cruelty in the country.

Animal rights groups like PETA raise millions of dollars per year and spend their time dumping fake blood on celebrities’ fur coats. Even more radical groups like the Animal Liberation Front set restaurants that sell meat on fire and torch research labs.

But a new report from the White Coat Waste Project (WCW), a free-market based animal rights group, indicates these organizations should probably be directing their fury at a much bigger culprit: the government.

That’s right. Research indicates that the federal government is actually responsible for the vast majority of animal cruelty in the country. According to WCW, the government spends millions of taxpayer dollars every year on animal laboratories that carry out unethical testing on animals through grants, contracts, and experiments within its own labs.

In a new report, Up In Smoke, WCW exposes even more of these corrupt practices. In particular, they detail millions of taxpayer dollars the government recently spent on cannabis and e-cigarette animal experiments—and rampant violations of federal spending transparency law that were committed in the process.

In one experiment, “pregnant mice were confined to a chamber, where they were forced to breathe e-cigarette vapor for hours.” According to the report, “After giving birth, their pups underwent behavioral tests, and were then killed and their brains analyzed. However, experimenters openly acknowledged significant differences between rodent brain development and human brain development.”

Another experiment forced mice to breath a variety of flavored e-cigarette vapors to “study the effects of vaping on the heart.” But notably, the authors said that “caution should be exercised when extrapolating the findings in the mouse heart to the human heart due to the presence of many obvious differences including those related to important species differences.”

So, in short, our government has been hotboxing mice for no apparent reason—they aren’t even producing research that could improve human health.

There are other problems detailed in the report as well. For instance, the Stevens Amendment is an old federal policy that requires public disclosure of taxpayer monies spent, yet WCW reports that not one experiment detailed in their report was in compliance with that law.

This is the second time in under a year that abusive animal testing by our government has come to light. Just a few months ago it was revealed that Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) provided a grant to a lab in Tunisia to torture and kill beagle puppies for scientific experiments.

These revelations are chilling. But they really won’t surprise anyone who is even vaguely familar with the practices of our government.

While our Founders intended the US to be a bastion of human rights and ethics, decades of rampant spending with little accountability have spawned a sprawling federal system that is anything but this. We see this leviathon bombing innocent civilians in other countries, persecuting journalists and whistleblowers who tell the truth about the government’s actions, and condemning thousands of innocent Americans to life behind bars for nonviolent offenses. Is it any wonder they also do not value the lives of animals? Hardly.

There’s a cruel irony here, too. While the government locks American citizens in jail for cannabis use with its right hand, it’s turning around and drugging animals with the same product with its left.

As economist Ludwig von Mises once said, “The worst evils which mankind has ever had to endure were inflicted by bad governments.”

This report is yet further proof of what many in the libertarian camp have long known: government is the real source of most of the evil in this world. But unlike when individuals do something wrong, there is little to no accountability for government actors when they carry out actions that would land the rest of us in jail.

Six years of BLM Killed More Blacks than 86 Years of Lynchings

“Black lives matter”, indeed.

Six years of BLM Killed More Blacks than 86 Years of Lynchings

By Ronald J. Kozar, American Thinker, April 25, 2022:

In 2014, the number of black American murder victims was 6,095. Then, after the August 2014 killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, anti-police protests and riots began, federal officials and mass media sympathetic to rioters brought heightened scrutiny to police practices, BLM began its career, “broken windows” policing was curtailed, and police morale plummeted.  The number of murders thereupon began to surge, never to return to 2014 levels.

The “excess” murder victims from 2015 through 2020 who were black — that is, the additional black victims each year beyond the 2014 baseline — add up to 11,005.  Compare that to the number of lynchings during the heyday of Jim Crow.  According to the Tuskegee Institute, the number of blacks lynched from 1882 through 1968 was 3,446.

Here are the numbers of black murder victims from 2014 through 2020:

Year       No. of Blacks      “Excess” Victims
                   Murdered

2014              6,095                          —
2015              7,039                        944
2916              7,881                      1,786
2017              7,851                      1,756
2018             7,407                      1,312
2019             7,484                      1,389
2020            9,913                       3,818

The numbers come from the FBI, though the FBI report for 2020 was visible online for only a short time in 2021.  Crime analyst Jeff Asher reported the 2020 figures before the FBI took the report down.

One might object that 2014 is an unfairly low baseline against which to compare the ensuing years.  2014 seems a natural starting-point for the analysis, as that was the year of Ferguson and the founding of BLM.  But the homicide figures in 2014 represented an historic low, a fact that might make the “excess” death figures for the ensuing six years look artificially high by comparison.  With the rise of “stop and frisk” policing, the number of homicides had been trending downward each year, with minor exceptions, from 1992 through 2014. ……. read the rest

Texas Man Offers Musk FREE 100 Acres to Move Twitter HQ Out of San Francisco

Americans are desperate to get their country back.

Yeehaw! TX Man Offers Musk FREE 100 Acres to Move Twitter HQ Out of San Fran

By: Keely Compson, Daily Political Newswire,

Oh snap! An Austin, Texas man is offering Elon Musk 100 acres of his land, for free, to move Twitter’s headquarters out of Fan Francisco and into Texas.Jim Schwertner, president and CEO of Schwertner Farms, tweeted on Tuesday: “Elon Musk, Move Twitter to Schwertner, TX. 38 Miles North of Austin in Williamson County, and we will give you 100 Acres for FREE.”

Schwertner argued that Twitter would add a lot of jobs to Texas and boost the economy, which would be a “win-win for everybody.”

“This area is exploding and we want to be part of this explosive growth,” he said.

“I just think with all the stuff he’s done, he evidently likes Texas, right or he wouldn’t have moved from California,” Schwertner added. “And I want to be part of his plan if he’ll come visit with us.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott added to Schwertner’s offer, stating that he “will declare it a ‘Free Speech Zone.’”

Abbott added, “Maybe we can rename it Twitter, Texas. Think about it, @elonmusk.”

The Biggest Reason Netflix Shares Are Tanking [+video]

The main reason Netflix is hitting headwinds is straightforward: competition.

When asked about the best way to fight monopolies in his documentary series Free to Choose, Milton Friedman had a firm answer: “the free market.” Some of his guests had other positions and argued that government intervention was necessary, but Friedman didn’t buy it.

The Netflix case has proved Friedman right, once again.

On Wednesday, Netflix shares plunged an impressive 36 percent. Conventional press releases blamed the loss of subscribers as the main cause for the crumbling value of the entertainment company. Others blamed Netflix’s ideological story lines, which in recent times have been advocating mainly leftist causes. These factors are undoubtedly part of the reason why its shares in the market crumbled, but the main reason was far more straightforward: competition.

No one can doubt that Netflix’s founders were forerunners. They discovered or created the subscription-based entertainment service, and they, far from selling or renting movies, as Blockbuster did, reinvented the industry. In 2016 an article was published in Business Insider that claimed Hollywood was terrified that Netflix would become a huge monopoly that would displace them. However, as usually happens in any society where there is capital, opportunity, and space for free competition, soon other companies began to copy Netflix’s business model and provide better service: cheaper prices, shared subscriptions with advertising, other productions, among other perks, which gradually began to bring down Netflix’s solitary reign.

Netflix knows it, too. They argue that the emergence of competitors (Disney, HBO, Amazon, among others) is one of the causes of the loss of customers. Of course, there’s also prices, ideology, and programming—there are a number of factors that have caused thousands of people to leave Netflix—but the main thing is that people have the ability to freely choose their entertainment service provider.

Now Netflix will have to adjust its rates, plans, and programming in an attempt to regain lost customers, and will surely backtrack on its intentions to increase subscription prices; in fact, it has been rumored that the company may be considering the possibility of implementing cheaper subscriptions with the inclusion of advertising.

Regardless of which company ends up being the one that consolidates as the most powerful in the entertainment market, we should all be grateful to have a healthy competition that allows us all to have better and cheaper services, because surely without such competition Netflix could unilaterally set the prices they see fit and include the programming that their directors establish without thinking about the consumer. Most likely this setback will make them rethink the editorial line of programming they have adopted in recent times.

Americans should be grateful to have in the country different large companies competing among themselves for customers. That is the essence of capitalism and the free market, and it is the reason why the United States has been such a successful nation. In Venezuela, the country where I was born and spent 27 years of my life, due to the shortage of products because of the enormous state intervention in the economy, I was forced on many occasions to buy soaps, deodorants, food, and other products of very poor quality and at high prices, because we could only buy what the government bureaucrats offered.

Similarly, I spent years of my life having electricity and water cuts that sometimes lasted 48 hours, because the government was the entity that managed the basic service companies, with the supposed intention of making it more accessible to the entire population. As it turns out—thanks to this intervention—no one in the whole country could enjoy smooth electricity service, a problem that remains to this day.

So as we watch Netflix shares fall, let’s be thankful and celebrate the market process, including the large companies and consolidation it creates. Because I assure you that if these big companies commit any irregularity or fail to comply with consumer demands, the market will put them in their place in a timely manner, something that the government will never be able to do.

TAKE ACTION: 16 Age Inappropriate /Obscene/Pornographic Books in Polk County Public Schools Media Centers

Recently there were found 16 books that are clearly age inappropriate, obscene and pornographic in Polk County Public School District (PCSD) Media Centers.  Glynnda White recommended the following actions be taken:

I think an excellent strategy for the next 9 days (till next school board meeting) is to contact every school board member by phone and email requesting that they ask for a vote on this matter at the next school board meeting.  If they refuse, we know where they stand and can begin advertising as such over the Summer, if they do and vote for keeping these books, we can also advertise that over the Summer.  They have painted themselves into a corner over this one and I believe we can win it if we are persistent.
I also want to research and find out how to get Heid fired.  I also want to research past meetings (Sara Beth’s discussion of rules before public comments section) to find out if she has used (Items to be voted on) in other meetings….I don’t think she has.
Should the books be kept the next step is to file formal complaints with the Sheriff, the State Attorney, the FL Education Office and of course the Governor who just may take this up since he is in campaign mode.  I am hoping that CCDF will begin legal action.  I would certainly support such an action….

Below are the emails and phone numbers of  the seven current  Polk County School Board Members.

We recommend: sending emails to each school board member individually rather than as a string.

Leave a voice mail message, if it is on and answering machine. Have the courage to leave your name and phone number as well!

PLEASE TAKE ACTION NO LATER THAN MONDAY MAY 2ND, 2022!

PROPOSED EMAIL:

Please take immediate action to remove any and all age inappropriate, obscene and pornographic books found in Polk County Public School Media Centers

Dear Polk County School Board Member,

We the people of Polk County ask that you do not take the easy or coward’s way out by abrogating your individual responsibilities as an elected official to vote on the 16 books that have been found in your Media Centers that contain inappropriate, obscene and pornographic material.

As a school board member it is your duty to deal with this most important issue – what the children of Polk County read and are exposed to.

Delegating this decision to the Superintendent shows a lack of your commitment to putting “Students First” as your motto clearly states.

You individually are accountable for all materials used both in the classroom and in the media center by Polk County Students.

Please show Polk County parents, the district staff, administration and the public where you personally stand on this issue.

We the people of Polk County, Florida will not tolerate the continued indoctrination, sexualization and grooming of the children attending Polk County Public schools.

Thank your for you attention and immediate action on this issue.

Signed

Note:  We have received information that the Polk County School Board does not plan on voting on this issue but will leave the decision to Superintendent Heid.  As we heard at April 26th meeting, it only takes three (3) school board members to vote to vote on this issue.

Are their not even three members of the current school board with the courage to hold the district accountable?

White House worried that Iran could obtain sufficient fissile material for a nuclear bomb in weeks

Imagine where we would be if Biden’s handlers had spent the last fifteen months trying to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, instead of bending over backwards to appease the mullahs.

Corrected (Official) White House worried Iran could develop nuclear weapon in weeks

Reuters, April 26, 2022:

The White House is worried Iran could develop a nuclear weapon in weeks, press secretary Jen Psaki said on Tuesday, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted earlier in the day the country has accelerated its nuclear program.

“Yes it definitely worries us,” Psaki said.

The White House clarified on Wednesday that although Psaki responded to a question about nuclear weapons, she was referring to the breakout time, which is the time it would take to obtain sufficient fissile material for one nuclear bomb, and was not referring to the production of an actual nuclear weapon.

‘Discomforting’: Elon Musk Reacts To The DHS’ New Disinformation Governance Board

Elon Musk called the Department of Homeland Security’s newly-created board targeting misinformation “discomforting” Thursday on Twitter.

The Department of Homeland Security formed the Disinformation Governance Board to begin countering disinformation and misinformation. Musk responded to comedian and political commentator Steven Crowder comparing the newly formed board to the Nazis.

“The government is creating a misinformation governance board,” Crowder said. “Who else did something like that? Oh I remember, the Nazis. And there’s some data showing some interesting things going on post-@elonmusk’s Twitter takeover!”

“Discomforting,” Musk replied.

Musk vowed to foster free speech and open debate on Twitter after buying out the platform for $43.4 billion. He outlined the importance of free speech in upholding a “functioning democracy” shortly after the buyout in a Monday statement.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.”

The administration appointed Nina Jankowicz, a global fellow at the Wilson Center, to serve as the board’s executive director. Jankowicz formerly cast doubt on the reports of the Hunter Biden laptop story and claimed the now-discredited Steele dossier was funded by Republicans in a 2017 tweet.

She described the board as an “internal mechanism working to better coordinate the Department’s work to counter disinformation” while protecting “free expression, privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties” in a LinkedIn post.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the board seeks to “prevent disinformation and misinformation from traveling around the country, but had no comment on concerns surrounding Jankowicz leadership at a Thursday press briefing. The press secretary previously said in February that Big Tech needs to take more steps to “call out mis-and disinformation” in response to podcast host Joe Rogan hosting vaccine skeptic and prominent virologist Dr. Robert Malone.

TAKE ACTION: Before adding an Edit button, ask Elon Musk to stop Twitter’s hosting of child sexual abuse

The Problem

Pedophiles and other predators go to Twitter to trade in criminal content such as child sexual abuse and nonconsensual pornography. The platform is rampant with accounts and posts functioning as advertisements for commercial sex—including prostitution.

Twitter fails to adequately respond to its victims, claiming it cannot be held accountable for disseminating illegal material. Twitter has even flatly refused to remove verified child sex abuse material from its site when asked by victims. Twitter must prioritize implementing robust and proactive efforts to remove sexual exploitation and abuse from its platform.

“Ministry of Truth” Trends on Twitter After Government Unveils New “Disinformation Governance Board”

The revelation that the government had created a new board to fight “disinformation” prompted a slew of Nineteen Eighty-Four comparisons.

On Wednesday news broke that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—a department that didn’t exist 20 years ago but today spends $52 billion annually—had created a new “Disinformation Governance Board.”

The news comes just days after Twitter accepted Tesla-founder Elon Musk’s offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion, a move that critics of the deal claimed could unleash disinformation. (Musk has been vocal in his support for free speech.)

DHS declined to be interviewed by the Associated Press, but issued a statement after news broke of the development.

“The spread of disinformation can affect border security, Americans’ safety during disasters, and public trust in our democratic institutions,” DHS said.

Perhaps naturally, the revelation that the government had created a new board to fight “disinformation” prompted a slew of Nineteen Eighty-Four comparisons, especially since it came so soon after Musk’s purchase of Twitter.

“Elon Musk buys Twitter to save free speech and days later President Biden announces a Ministry of Truth,” one observer quipped. “It’s like we’re living through an Ayn Rand/George Orwell novel mash-up.”

For those unfamiliar with George Orwell’s masterpiece, the Ministry of Truth is the propaganda and censorship department of Oceania, the fictional setting for Orwell’s dystopia.

Known as Minitrue in Newspeak, the name Ministry of Truth is a misnomer. Like all the departments in 1984, the name reflects the opposite of what the government actually does.

The book’s protagonist, Winston Smith, learns this in the second half of Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Even the names of the four Ministries by which we are governed exhibit a sort of impudence in their deliberate reversal of the facts. The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in doublethink. For it is only by reconciling contradictions that power can be retained indefinitely.

Smith, who works at the Ministry of Truth, realizes the Ministry of Truth is not the least bit interested in truth. Its use of propaganda is overt, as is its use of banal slogans designed to confuse and humiliate the people of Oceania.

On the exterior of the Ministry of Truth building are three party slogans: “WAR IS PEACE,” “FREEDOM IS SLAVERY,” and “IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.” Inside the structure, problematic documents are incinerated, dropped down a Memory Hole where they are conveniently forgotten.

One might be tempted to laugh off comparisons between a “Disinformation Governance Board” and the propaganda department in Orwell’s classic work. After all, we’re talking about a novel.

This would be mistaken, however.

For starters, Nineteen Eighty-Four is indeed a fictional work. But it was inspired by the authoritarian regimes and ideologies Orwell witnessed firsthand. A one-time socialist who observed the fighting in the Spanish Civil War—a conflict between fascists and communists—Orwell became a budding libertarian who became disillusioned with collectivism.

In fact, Orwell makes it clear that Nineteen Eighty-Four was inspired by communism.

“[Nineteen Eighty-Four] was based chiefly on communism, because that is the dominant form of totalitarianism,” he told Sidney Sheldon, who purchased the stage rights to the book; “but I was trying chiefly to imagine what communism would be like if it were firmly rooted in the English speaking countries, and was no longer a mere extension of the Russian Foreign Office.”

Stalin’s regime was not the only totalitarian regime to utilize propaganda and censorship, of course. Joseph Goebbels, the chief propagandist for the Nazi Party, is perhaps the single most infamous wielder of propaganda in human history. And of course the Nazis were infamous for their book burning.

The Chinese Communist Party uses propaganda and censorship to such great effect today that scholars say it’s difficult to even know what’s actually happened in the country over the last century.

“At a time when censorship is a part of everyday experience of the Chinese people, even few historians actually know all the history of the party,” historian Sun Peidong recently told The Guardian. “It’s hard to get hold of party history materials as a history researcher nowadays. It’s even harder to know what the past 100 years has really been about.”

This is why Americans should be concerned that the US government—nearly two and a half centuries after it was founded—is suddenly in the business of rooting out “disinformation.”

Humans will always disagree over what is true. Descartes’ first principle—”cogito, ergo sum” posited that the only thing we can know with total certainty is “I think, therefore I am.”

It doesn’t take a philosopher to see that a lot of stuff one finds online is drek, so it shouldn’t surprise us that “misinformation”—in various forms and to various degrees—is rampant online.

But history shows that no one wields misinformation and propaganda with greater effectiveness—or at greatest cost—than government.

Orwell understood this. Americans would do well to heed his warning.

Conflict on the Nile -The implications for Israel

The simmering conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia over the construction of a massive dam on the Blue Nile could have grave ramifications for Israel.

no one can take a drop from Egypt’s water, and if it happens, there will be inconceivable instability in the region.Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Aljazeera, March 30, 2021.

…we … don’t want to live in darknessEthiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Aljazeera, March 30,  2021.

These two short quotes encapsulate the essence of the brewing conflict between the leaders of the two North African nations over the waters of the Nile, triggered by the construction of a huge dam on the Blue Nile by Ethiopia, just east of its border with Sudan. The dam—the Great Ethiopian Renaissances Dan (GERD) is the largest in Africa and one of the largest in the world.

Ethiopian electricity vs Egyptian water

The Blue Nile is one of the two principal tributaries—together with the White Nile—which converge near the Sudanese capital Khartoum and then flow northwards, as the Nile, through Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea.

As the world’s longest river system, the Nile functions as a lifeline to the 11 countries, through which it runs, supplying them with both water and electricity.

Arguably Egypt, as the ultimate downstream country, is the most vulnerable to disruptions of the river flow. It depends on the Nile for over 95% of its irrigation and drinking water for its 105 million population and it perceives the Ethiopian dam as an existential threat to its national security.

By contrast, upstream Ethiopia claims that the planned hydroelectric power produced by its dam will be vital to meet the energy needs of its people—numbering over 120 million—well over half of which has no access to electricity. Accordingly, with a planned installed capacity of over 6 gigawatts, the primary purpose of the dam is to relieve the acute power shortage in Ethiopia, although the export of electricity to other countries is being considered as well.

Is a long-simmering conflict approaching boiling point?

The long-simmering conflict over the waters of the Nile, between the upstream and downstream riparians intensified in 2011 with Ethiopia’s decision to begin construction of the GERD. The dispute recently reemerged in the media spotlight when Addis Ababa initiated the operation of the first of the dam’s 13 turbines and unilaterally started production of electricity on Feb. 20, 2022, without consultation or coordination with any of the other Nile nations.

According to the World Bank, Ethiopia—the second most populous nation in Africa (after Nigeria)—is the fastest growing economy in the region and over the past decade and a half has been among the fastest-growing countries in the world (at an average of 10 percent per year). From Ethiopia’s perspective, the GERD is an essential initiative for the reduction of the widespread poverty that pervades the country, enhancing the availability of clean water—thus reducing illnesses and boosting employment.

For decades the waters of the Nile have been administered and allocated according to the colonial-era 1929 Anglo-Egyptian Treaty, which granted Egypt veto power over construction projects on the Nile River or any of its tributaries, and the later 1959  Agreement—concluded bilaterally between Egypt and Sudan—prior to Cairo’s construction of the Aswan High Dam in 1960, which would flood extensive areas of Northern Sudan.

Zero-sum impasse?

The 1959 Agreement, which effectively reinforced the provisions of the 1929 Treaty, increased water allocations to both Egypt and Sudan while neither agreement make any allowance for the water needs of the other riparian states. This includes Ethiopia, which was party to neither agreement and whose highlands supply more than 80 percent of the water that flows into the Nile River.

Unsurprisingly, as their populations—and water needs—increased, upstream nations grew increasingly dissatisfied with this arrangement. In 2010, five of them — Ethiopia, together with four White Nile riparians, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania — signed the Entebbe agreement, calling for a redistribution of the waters to include them, with Burundi joining in later.

Both Egypt and Sudan rejected the call.

Subsequent diplomatic efforts—including involvement of the UN Security Council and the African Union—proved fruitless in resolving what is essentially an archetypical “zero-sum game”. After all, with a fixed (indeed decreasing) supply of water and increasing populations (and hence demand for water) of the Nile nations, gains for upstream riparians (such as Ethiopia) must almost inevitably come at the expense of downstream ones (such as Egypt).

According to one expert: “Under another treaty in 1959, Egypt has a rightful claim to 55.5 bcm [billion cubic meters] of the Nile’s total volume. Egypt’s share of the Nile still falls short of its annual water needs that hover around 64 billion bcm. By 2020, Egypt will need 20% additional water to meet the needs of its projected population… Consistent increase in demand for water and proportionate decrease in its supply makes the future of Egypt even grimmer.

Consequently, the pursuit of some consensual arrangement, adequately satisfactory to both sides has proved consistently futile.

Egyptian saber-rattling

Going back over four decades, Cairo has reiterated that water could become a casus belli. Thus, in 1979, in the wake of peace accords with Israel, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat declared: “The only matter that could take Egypt to war again is water.”

A decade later, in 1988, then-Egyptian Foreign Minister Boutros Boutros-Ghali, later the UN Secretary-General, warned that the next war in the Middle East would be fought, not over politics, but over the waters of the Nile.

Stratfor cited a June 1, 2010 dispatch, according to which a “high-level Egyptian security/intel source, in regular direct contact with [President Hosni]Mubarak and [then-intelligence head Omar] Suleiman” said: ‘If it comes to a crisis [with Ethiopia], we will send a jet to bomb the dam and come back in one day, simple as that. Or we can send our special forces to block/sabotage the [planned]dam…’ “.

Even though Mohamed Morsi, the leader of the short-lived Islamist regime (2012-13), was generally less bellicose towards Addis Abba, he too—under pressure from his military, warned Ethiopia that “all options are open,” a reference to an airstrike, guerrilla sabotage, or destabilization of the Ethiopian government.

Last year, the current Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, cautioned that “there will be inconceivable instability in the region” if Egypt’s water supply is reduced by even “a drop“.

The drums of war?

The apparent deadlock in this clash of the crucial, indeed, existential, interests of the adversarial protagonists means that some form of military confrontation between Cairo and Addis Abba cannot be discounted.

However, should such a confrontation turn violent, the outcome is far from a foregone conclusion. For, while on paper, the Egyptian armed forces far outstrip those of Ethiopia in terms of quality and quantity of its armaments on land, sea, and in the air (see here), they would still face formidable obstacles in conducting a successful assault to halt the continued construction and operation of the massive GERD.

Moreover, it should be recalled that the only war between Egypt and Ethiopia in modern times (1874-1876), ended in an unequivocal victory for Ethiopia—despite it incurring far greater casualties. Conversely, for Egypt the war was a costly failure, severely blunting its then-regional aspirations as an African empire.

But even assuming that Egypt could effectively project military force effectively to curtail the GERD project, other factors need to be considered as well. Thus, as Cairo itself has acknowledged, any attack that causes catastrophic failure in the dam is likely to pose a major threat downstream as an almost 500-foot-high wall of water would come bursting through the breached structure along the river valley.

GERD: The ramifications for Israel

Although the Egypt-Ethiopia dispute over GERD and the Nile might appear somewhat remote and disconnected from Israel and its strategic agenda, this view may well prove mistaken.

Indeed, the potential strategic fallout of the Nile dispute for Israel is seldom, if ever raised in the public debate, despite the fact that it may turn out to be gravely ominous.

Egypt has long been plagued by Islamist insurgency in Sinai—by disaffected Bedouin tribes and the Jihadi Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, which later became the ISIS-affiliated “Sinai Province” (Wilayat Sinai). Insurgents have caused the death of thousands of Egyptian soldiers and local civilians as well as over 200 foreign citizens who died in the downing of a Russian airliner, attributed to Sinai Province.

Initially, the Egyptian army had great difficulty in contending with the insurgents, despite extremely harsh policies implemented by Cairo, and increases in military personnel and weapons that far exceeded the limitations of the peace treaty with Israel—which in itself is a source of considerable Israeli concern (see for example Israel’s Sinai Dilemma).

More recently however, partially due to a policy shift of engaging, rather than alienating, the Bedouin tribes, there has been greater success in reducing Jihadist attacks. Indeed, according to the Washington Institute, the military’s shift to tribal engagement has helped reduce jihadist attacks, but given Cairo’s sluggish efforts to advance development and human rights in the peninsula, there is little guarantee that future resurgence of previous levels of violence will not flare up once again.

GERD: The ramifications for Israel (cont.)

Given the effort in terms of personnel and materiel called for to impose law and order in Sinai and prevent its take over by Jihadi warlords, one can only ponder what the outcome would be if Cairo was faced with another situation, which gravely threatened vital national interests elsewhere and required siphoning off resources currently deployed in Sinai.

Thus, if Egypt perceives Ethiopia’s upstream dam construction as placing it in an untenable situation vis-a-vis its ability to provide vital amounts of water to its population, it may well find itself compelled to mobilize for coercive action to contend with the situation.

Thus, if the impasse with Ethiopia persists, and the grave water situation in Egypt continues to deteriorate, Cairo may well be forced to prioritize the wellbeing of the millions in the Nile delta over its endeavor to maintain its control over the remote Sinai—and draw off resources currently allocated to the latter. This will inevitably result in giving greater rein to the anti-regime—and anti-Israel—radicals, who, in the past, have launched attacks against Israel and been involved in smuggling arms into Hamas-controlled Gaza. These are likely to increase significantly if GERD-induced reductions in Egypt’s military presence take place.

Accordingly, Israel must plan for a plausible scenario in which, along its long southern border and the vulnerable transport routes connecting the center of the country with the southern port of Eilat are subject to mounting fundamentalist threats from unfettered warlords in an increasingly lawless Sinai Peninsula.

PODCAST: Biden’s ‘Digital Gulag’

The man enabling millions to immigrate here illegally just unveiled another, mortal threat to our country. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that his department is establishing an Orwellian Ministry of Truth called the Disinformation Governance Board.

It’s not hard to connect the dots on how such an effort to restrict speech will tie into the rest of the Marxist revolutionary wrecking operation the Biden administration is mounting. A new “Digital Gulag” is being constructed in which vaccine passports repackaged as SMART health cards will provide infrastructure for the surveillance, data weaponization and control mechanisms the Chinese Communists call the “Social Credit System.” It will be used to track and punish those deemed guilty of thought crimes called “disinformation.”

Learn what we can do about this at our “Digital Gulag” webinar on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Register at StopVaxPassports.org.
