Inflation Stays Sky-High As Core Prices Soar Above Expectations

UPDATE: Biden “Our economy is strong as hell.”

Inflation increased 0.4% in September from August as “core” inflation, measuring the price of goods excluding food and energy, soared above expectations to a 40-year-high, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Core inflation rose 6.6% year-over-year and 0.6% month-to-month in September, beating year-over-year expectations by 0.1%, while the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell 8.2% overall year-over-year despite spiking 0.4% from August, the BLS announced Thursday. Economists had predicted CPI would fall 8.1% year-on-year in September, down from 8.3% in August.

The decline in overall inflation can be attributed largely to a decline in energy costs, although they remain elevated by 19.8% year-on-year compared to 23.8% in August, according to the BLS. Food costs remain historically high, with the overall food index falling slightly to 11.2% annually, down from 11.4% in August.

With both headline and core inflation still well above the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%, the Federal Reserve is unlikely to halt its aggressive campaign of interest rate hikes, CNBC reported Wednesday. Goldman Sachs warned investors late September that even in the event of a so-called “soft landing,” where the Federal Reserve tames inflation without inducing a recession or a significant increase in unemployment, the Fed is likely to continue aggressive rate hikes through the end of the year, raising rates from the current baseline of 3.25% up to 4.5%.

The U.S. added 263,000 jobs in September, the slowest rate of the year, as the labor market continued to cool. Bank of America’s chief U.S. economist Michael Gapen warned Monday that unemployment could spike if the Fed continues its rate hikes, pushing unemployment as high as 5.5% from its current level at 3.5%, costing the U.S. 175,000 jobs per month early next year.

“No doubt the Fed still has its work cut out for them, and if tomorrow’s CPI read is hot, don’t be surprised to see some investors come to grips with how long the road to tamer inflation may be,” Mike Loewengart, head of portfolio management at Morgan Stanley told CNBC.

Government by Phony Narrative Blows Up In Their Face—Again

Wright’s Rule:  Live by the narrative, die by the narrative.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was told there was no evidence Border Patrol agents on horseback had whipped Haitians at the border before Mayorkas hyped the whipping allegations at a Biden press conference.  So he knew there was nothing to the story, but went out and told the story to the nation, anyway, and in the most inflammatory terms. These “horrifying” images “conjured up … what has occurred in the past,” Mayorkas said, referring to slavery.  But Mayorkas had been warned the photographer who took the pictures did not witness any whipping.  An internal investigation later cleared the agents, finding the agents were using long reins to control their horses and no Haitians were harmed in the process.

But now we have a government that never lets the facts get in the way of a good narrative.  The better to rule you with.  I don’t recall a time when the government has told us so many big fat lies.  All we get now is government by phony narrative.  Here’s what I mean.  We are told:

‘The Hunter Biden laptop is just Russian disinformation.’  What a joke.  Even the New York Times stopped telling that whopper.

‘Domestic terrorism is a huge threat because January 6th,’ except we now we know the FBI has been cooking up phony domestic terrorism cases to make the numbers look bad.

‘Republicans are violent and will disrupt the November election,’ except there’s no evidence of that and it’s Democrats and their fellow travelers who like burning cities and firebombing pro-life centers.

‘Election integrity laws suppress the vote,’ except voter turnout has a funny way of going UP – not down – after election integrity laws are passed.

‘Gun control laws work, we need more gun control laws,’ except mass shootings keep happening and gun control doesn’t stop them.

‘COVID vaccines are safe and effective,’ except they may have killed more than 30,000 people in the U.S. and many vaccinated people suffer breatkthrough cases.

‘Things are going swimmingly in Afghanistan,’ until we found out they weren’t, the failures leading to Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal.

‘Women can be men and men can get pregnant,’ except for the fact those assertions are completely contrary to science and common sense.

‘Green energy is better and the entire nation has to transition to it,’ except that green energy is unreliable, more expensive, has toxic environmental consequences, and is deliberately meant to impoverish people, as is happening now in England and Germany.

‘Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election,’ except we now know the FBI knew the Steele dossier was unverified, offered $1 million for corroboration, and proceeded with the Trump/Russia collusion hoax anyway, despite never getting any.

Live by the narrative, die by the narrative.  To our would-be masters, I say: You people are colossal liars, and don’t expect us to believe a word you say when you are the ones out there telling fish stories.  And you have the nerve to want to shut us up.  The sooner you are swept out of office, the better.  Government by phony narrative is hardly a sustainable theory of governance.  The truth always wins out and you are going down.

Ukraine’s Democrat Money Launderer Zelensky Demands America Nuke Russia

Nuclear war means the end of the world and yet the American media is cheering this. This is diabolical madness especially since this conflict on the other side of the world is of no import or concern to Americans.

“Time to update your assumptions about the technology here. These are not the bombs that flattened Nagasaki. They are incalculably more powerful. You hit New York, you take out Miami.”

Tucker Carlson expressed what anyone paying attention was thinking:

Are you shocked by this? Was there a vote on this? Did someone ask your opinion? No, but it’s been happening for months in slow motion. It’s been hidden from public view by the near-total blackout imposed by America media outlets so you probably didn’t know any of the details. For example, in March, the Turkish government tried to broker a peace in Ukraine and they came very, very close. Wasn’t reported widely.

Ukraine was prepared to guarantee neutrality, meaning it would not join NATO. That’s what the Russians wanted above all and in return for that, the Russian government would withdraw its forces from Ukraine and that might have been a neat solution, certainly for the rest of us. The global economy wouldn’t need to be destroyed. Nobody would die in a nuclear war. Negotiations to that point advanced to the stage that Vladimir Putin pledged to meet with Zelenskyy to sign a peace treaty and Zelenskyy was ready for it, too and we’re quoting, “I’m ready for a dialog,” he announced, but sadly, Zelenskyy could not act alone. Despite what you may hear on NBC News, Zelenskyy is not the independent leader of a democratic nation. No, not even close. That is a fiction.

Zelenskyy is a client of the Biden administration, which runs his country, and ideologues within the Biden administration did not want a negotiated peace in Ukraine. They wanted all along and it’s very clear now a regime change war against Russia. Period.

So, that’s what they are now getting. On Friday, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is applying for full membership in NATO on an expedited basis.

ZELENSKYY:Ukraine was and remains the leader of negotiation efforts. It is our country that always proposed to Russia to agree on coexistence, on equal, honest, dignified and fair conditions. Clearly, with this Russian president, it is impossible. He does not know what dignity and honesty are. Therefore, we are ready for a dialog with Russia, but with another president of Russia.

So, that’s the demand. Putin must be removed from office. Putin, of course, has no intention of leaving. You would have to take him out. Now, you don’t have to like Vladimir Putin. You don’t have to like anything about Vladimir Putin. You can hate Vladimir Putin and most Americans do, but you can still understand how totally deranged talk like this is. It’s the definition of reckless. Consider their own descriptions. For years, Democrats and the defense establishment they control have told us that Vladimir Putin is crazy and evil and he may be. Let’s assume it’s true. They’ve said it. Is that the man you want to publicly threaten with extermination? This is the man who controls more than 6,000 nuclear warheads. So, if you push him hard enough, why wouldn’t he use those nuclear weapons? Well, by their own description of him, he would.

Zelensky Calls for ‘Preemptive ‘Strikes’ on Russia to Stop Use of Nuclear Weapons

Ukrainian officials have denied that Zelensky implied the use of preemptive nuclear strikes, but instead meant “sanctions and armed assistance.”

By: Valient News, October 11, 2022:

Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelensky said that NATO must use preemptive “strikes” against Russia to prevent their use of nuclear weapons.

Speaking to Australia’s Lowy Institute via a live video link on Thursday morning, Zelensky called on the international community to “show strength” against Russia, and called on them put an end to “the aggressor’s ability to escalate.”

Michael Fullilove, the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute, asked Zelensky about the problem of “nuclear blackmail” from Russia. “Mr Putin told us the other day that he’s not bluffing,” Fullilove noted. “Do you believe that the likelihood of the use of Russian nuclear weapons has risen, and what more do you want NATO to do to deter Russia from using nuclear weapons?”

n response, according to translations from two different outlets, Zelensky said that NATO should “eliminate” the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons on Ukraine, and use “pre-emptive/preventive strikes” so that Russia will “know what will happen to them” if they used nukes:

“What should NATO do? Eliminate the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. But what is important, I once again appeal to the international community, as I did before February 24: we need pre-emptive strikes, so that they’ll know what will happen to them if they use nukes, and not the other way around. Don’t wait for Russia’s nuclear strikes, and then say, ‘oh, since you did this, take that from us!’ Reconsider the way you apply pressure. This is what NATO should do: reconsider the order in which it applies pressure [on Russia].”

The translation matched a software-aided translation of Zelensky’s full remarks that were reported by a Ukrainian outlet. The reaction from many online was one of shock, with commentators arguing that what Zelensky has said was tantamount to a call to start World War Three, or bullying “globalist Americans” into kicking off a “nuclear holocaust.”

Pedro Gonzalez, the independent conservative journalist, argued that Zelensky was now “worse than Putin,” because Zelensky “is a thug and a lunatic pretending to be a paragon of democracy.”

The National Security Implications of Electric Vehicle Fires

I’ve commented many times on the problems with the Biden administration’s push to ‘transition’ the nation to electric vehicles come hell or high water.  Still more problems have become apparent in recent weeks and they have national security implications.

Lots of electric cars caught fire during Hurricane Ian in Florida.  The batteries corroded, causing the vehicles to burst into flame, presenting a new type of problem for firefighters who can’t always put the fires out, not even with 1,500 gallons of water.  Lithium-ion batteries are composed of highly flammable materials and, if any part of the battery fails or short-circuits, flames quickly cascade through the rest of the battery in a process called “thermal runaway”.  Did you know there have been scores of electric scooter fires in New York City in the past two years and three resulting deaths?  How come the unicorns-and-rainbows Biden administration isn’t telling us about that?

Government reports show the Biden administration is aware EV production depends on the use of child labor in cobalt mines in Africa.  “Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo labor under harsh and dangerous conditions to mine cobalt ore,” one report said.  Another said, “40,000 children, some as young as 6 years old, work in cobalt mines. Often working in tight spaces underground without proper safety equipment or procedures, child laborers face serious risks of injury or death.”  Given these reports, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and the other moral monsters in the Biden administration pushing EVs have been made fully aware of the child exploitation problem with EVs, but they don’t care and they don’t let it interfere with their agenda.

Rural states are telling the feds that current plans for requiring EV charging stations every 50 miles along lonely stretches of highway are wildly impractical.  The electrical infrastructure just doesn’t exist.  Moreover, the feds want high-capacity charging stations, which Wyoming says, could not possibly be profitable until the 2040s.

More information has come in about the weight of electric vehicles adding a ‘fatality factor’ to car crashes.  Simply put, more people will die because of momentum and rotational inertia, the inability to change the direction of heavy electric vehicles headed to a collision.  Pete Buttigieg never told us about that.  Like the rest of the Biden administration, he never changes direction, either.

Another problem with EVs that’s come to light is the fact that their economic viability depends on one crucial factor: the price of lithium.  As I told you previously, Indigenous peoples and governments in Latin America are moving to clamp down on lithium mining because of the environmental damage it is causing.  Lithium prices are already at a record high.  This situation reminds me of how the economic assumptions of the nuclear power industry went haywire in the 1970s when the price of yellowcake uranium rose 700 percent.  Why hasn’t the Biden administration stress-tested the economics of the electric vehicle industry for potential increases in lithium prices, or told us the results if they have?

Now for the national security implications.  The military is rushing into electric vehicles.  What would happen to the defense budget if the price of lithium increases 700 percent?  What is the Pentagon’s plan for putting out battery fires at military bases under attack?   What are the implications of the military’s own report heavier electric vehicles are not as maneuverable?   Where will the massive amounts of electricity needed to recharge electric vehicles come from on the battlefield?  Why is the military pursuing EVs that don’t meet the military’s own range requirements?  What will it take to obtain high-capacity charging stations that will enable the military to charge EVs in the same amount of time it takes to refuel current vehicles?

Call me a cynic, but I’m not taking the Biden administration or the Pentagon’s fervor for EVs at face value, not when it’s been reported many Biden officials personally own green energy investments that rise in value proportionally to how much green energy policy they can foist on the country. None dare call it fascism.  [Daily Skirmish – 7/27/22]   And not when it’s just been reported a Pentagon official participated in discussions about blacklisting a Chinese company in which he personally owned stock.  A lot of electric vehicle batteries come from China.  It’s also just been reported that thousands of government officials own stock in the companies their agencies regulate.  So don’t tell me the Biden administration and Pentagon push to electric vehicles is totally on the up-and-up.  I don’t believe you.  They have to know about all the problems with EVs I’ve been telling you about, but they’re pushing EVs on us, anyway.  Every one of their press releases should come with a financial disclosure statement, as far as I’m concerned.

It’s Time to Talk Turkey About Race—Part 2

Today, I continue deconstructing the Left’s phony diversity narrative.  But first, two bits of astounding news about things I told you yesterday.

Democrat Nury Martinez apologized for racist remarks and resigned her post as president of the Los Angeles City Council, but retained her council seat.  Martinez, who is Hispanic, was recorded referring to a black kid as a ‘monkey’ and making other racist comments.  But if, as we’re told, black and brown people can’t be racist, why did she apologize and resign?  Why didn’t she defend herself and tell us she can’t be racist because she’s brown?  Because the diversity narrative is as phony as a three-dollar bill and everybody knows it, that’s why.

I also told you yesterday about Kamala Harris saying hurricane relief should be made on the basis of skin color, not need, a blatant violation of the Equal Protection Clause.  Well, it turns out, FEMA was doing exactly that after Hurricane Ian devastated parts of Florida.  FEMA apportions relief money partly on the basis of “social vulnerability” on the theory that minorities suffer more from natural disasters. Including crazy rich Asians, according to FEMA.  Racial discrimination is baked into FEMA policy.  It’s part of the Biden administration’s requirement that every federal agency come up with a redistribution – oops, ‘equity’ – plan.  The justification?  The historical denial of opportunity for minorities to participate in the economic life of the nation.  Tell it to Oprah Winfrey and LeBron James, billionaires both.  The bottom line: “big chunks of federal money” are flowing out of the Treasury based on skin color.  This is not some sideshow – “At FEMA, we strive to place equity at the center of our efforts…,” a FEMA official said.  A Treasury Department official said the same thing, recently – put race at the center.   All of this is blatantly unconstitutional, offending as it does the Equal Protection Clause that has served our nation well.  If you’re a thinking person, let me know when you think redistribution and the historical guilt trip are supposed to end.

Here are some other things that are wrong with the Left’s phony diversity narrative:

It relies on distortions of history.  The latest example is Don Lemon asking a British guest if the crown should pay reparations for colonialism and slavery.  But the guest pointed out the inconvenient facts slavery existed on the African continent carried on by Africans and the British were an early force in shutting down the slave trade, being the first nation to outlaw slavery on its soil.  If reparations are to be paid, they should come from the descendants of the African slave-traders who rounded up their own people, handcuffed them in cages, and brought them to the beach to be sold and put on ships.  People looking for black pride need to look elsewhere, not distorted and fictionalized accounts of history.

The diversity narrative is thinly disguised revenge and leads to race hatred.  An arts festival in Portland let blacks in for free and charged everybody else $80.  The Institute putting on the event gets government grants.  So I object.  This is enough state action to invoke the Equal Protection Clause.  As for race hatred, Democrat South Carolina State Rep. and U.S. Senate candidate Krystle Matthews, who is black, was caught on video trashing white people and saying she keeps them “under her thumb” or they “get out of control like kids.”  We keep going like this and we’ll end up like South Africa where the country’s leaders sing about killing white people and black people kill white farmers to get them off the land.  This way lies barbarism.

Finally, the diversity narrative is a crutch that holds people back.  First, it holds back the people who don’t get hired because of affirmative action policies.  The Supreme Court is hearing a case on October 31st brought by Asians who allege Harvard’s race-based admissions policies are holding them back.  Also, a class action suit has been brought against Texas A&M for reserving faculty posts based on race and giving six-figure bonuses only to minorities.  Affirmative action also hurts the minorities by putting them in schools and jobs they can’t handle and inducing learned helplessness in large numbers of people.  It’s racist to say minorities can’t excel and make it on their own merit. When affirmative action started in the 1970s, it was supposed to be temporary.  At some point, the guilt trip and the favoritism were supposed to stop.  We’re headed to India, where advantages are doled out by caste and the system is permanent.  Not the best outcome for us, the country that became the best country on earth by making opportunity available to all.

The Left’s phony diversity narrative is garbage, but will remain wildly successful for a while longer.  It sucks people in.  It gets them to turn off their brain and ignore all the costs the narrative imposes.  Identity politics is poisonous and destroys what unified us as a country – a belief in self-rule and rights for the most important minority, the individual.  But the costs become more apparent with every passing day.  Eventually, clear thinking will win out and the diversity narrative will get thrown into the dustbin of history.  It happened with ‘defund the police’ and it will happen with the rest of the diversity narrative, as well.  We will be much better off when we return to being a nation of sovereign individuals who are captains of their own fate not looking to government for favoritism or advantages others are not allowed to enjoy.

UN Weather Chief: ‘From climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing’

Putin is the UN’s new Climate Hero. Will Vladimir Putin now get a Nobel Peace Prize like Al Gore did in 2007 in service of the climate?

UN: Putin a Climate Hero?! UN Weather chief: ‘From climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing’

GENEVA (AP) — The head of the U.N. weather agency says the war in Ukraine “may be seen as a blessing” from a climate perspective because it is accelerating the development of and investment in green energies over the longer term — even though fossil fuels are being used at a time of high demand now.

The comments from Petteri Taalas, secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization, came as the world is facing a shortfall in energy needs — prompted in part by economic sanctions against key oil and natural gas producer Russia — and prices for fossil fuels have risen.

That has led some countries to turn quickly to alternatives like coal. But rising prices for carbon-spewing fuels like oil, gas and coal have also made higher-priced renewable energies like solar, wind and hydrothermal more competitive in the energy marketplace.

The energy crunch has also led many big consuming countries in Europe and beyond to initiate conservation measures, and talk of rationing has emerged in some places.

Taalas acknowledged that the war in Ukraine has been a “shock for the European energy sector,” and has prompted an upturn in the use of fossil energies.

“From the five- to 10-year timescale, it’s clear that this war in Ukraine will speed up our consumption of fossil energy, and it’s speeding up this green transition,” Taalas said.

“So we are going to invest much more in renewable energy, energy-saving solutions,” and some small-scale nuclear reactors are likely to come online by 2030 as “part of the solution,” he said.

“So from climate perspective, the war in Ukraine may be seen as a blessing,” Taalas added.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other leaders in the U.N. system have repeatedly made the point “that as well as the tragic human impacts, the conflict underscores the rising costs of the world’s fossil fuel addiction, and the urgent need to accelerate the shift to renewables, to protect people and planet,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

Taalas was speaking as WMO issued a new report that said the supply of electricity from cleaner sources of energy needs to double within the next eight years to curb an increase in global temperatures.

The latest “State of Climate Services” annual report — based on contributions from 26 different organizations — focuses this year on energy.

Taalas said the energy sector currently is responsible for about three-quarters of emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, and he called for a “complete transformation” of the global energy system.

He warned that climate change is affecting electricity generation — and it could have an increasing impact in the future. Among the risks, nuclear plants that rely on water for cooling could be affected by water shortages, and some are located in coastal areas that are vulnerable to sea-level rise or flooding.

In its report, WMO noted that in 2020, some 87% or global electricity generated from thermal, nuclear and hydroelectric systems — which produce less CO2 than plants run by fossil fuels — depended on water availability.

As the UN now openly admits, high energy prices and shortages are NOT the unintended consequences of the Green New Deal-style policies, they are the INTENDED consequences. In short, there is no better way to increase the politicians’ and bureaucrats’ power than by exploiting war, tragedy and chaos. Skyrocketing energy prices are exactly what the climate and environmental agenda demand and has demanded for the past 50-plus years. From President Obama to President Biden, higher energy costs have been the plan to soften up Americans and the economy to prepare them for accepting less in order to impose the progressive energy-restricted vision on society. Endless wars, high energy prices and shortages will condition Americans and Europeans to accept a ‘new normal’ in energy that is entirely due to following the climate agenda.”

Myths About Abortion

The Dobbs Supreme Court decision in June which overturned Roe v. Wade, notes Ob-gyn, Ingrid Skop, “has sent abortion advocates and their allies in the media scurrying to strike fear into the hearts of women.”  Just last Tuesday (10/4/22), the White House held a meeting to see how they could further promote abortion in America.

But much of the abortion debate essentially centers around eight key myths about the abortion procedure:

1. Myth: The Dobbs case will cause women to die for lack of abortions.

I spoke with the above-mentioned Dr. Skop on a radio segment. She has delivered more than 5,000 babies and serves as a senior fellow and director of medical affairs at Charlotte Lozier Institute, a pro-life organization. She wrote an op-ed exploding this myth.

Says Dr. Skop: “An ectopic pregnancy happens when an embryo implants outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube, and the fetus has no chance of survival to a live birth….As soon as it’s diagnosed, physicians will treat an ectopic pregnancy because the mother’s life is at risk, a routine obstetric procedure that is not jeopardized by Dobbs. This is lifesaving medical care. It is not an elective abortion.”

2. Myth: Abortion does not kill a human being.

Recently, Whoopi Goldberg said that abortion is needed to remove that “toxic thing” inside

women. But we were all once that “toxic thing.” How dehumanizing. Similarly, one abortion clinic nurse said that the unborn babies are just “pieces of goo.”

But Carol Everett disagrees. She’s a former abortion worker (and part owner of some abortion facilities). She once told me, “In the front counseling room, the young woman is asking, ‘Is it a baby?’ And she’s being told, ‘No.’ But in the back, every single baby, as early as it can be done, has to be put back together—the arms, legs, hands, feet, the head, and the spine—to be sure it’s all there. It is a baby.” (Anything left inside can cause an infection.)

3. Myth: Life begins when a baby is born.

Danielle D’Souza Gill, the daughter of Dinesh D’Souza, wrote a book in 2020, entitled, The Choice: The Abortion Divide in America.

She addresses this and other myths in a radio segment she did with me: “They always act as if ‘poof’—the baby has exited the womb. Now it’s a person. And that really makes no sense because moments before it’s born versus moments after it’s born, really make no difference. We’re really just talking about a matter of location.”

4. Myth: Even if it’s technically a human life, the fetus doesn’t feel anything or know what’s happening anyway.

Gill explodes this canard: “The baby in the womb actually has more consciousness, more brain waves than a comatose person.…It does feel pain and releases cortisone and the same stress hormones we release, even in the first trimester, when it’s under duress, when we’re trying to abort it.”

5. Myth: Abortion is a safe and simple procedure.

Gill answers: “First of all, we have to ask: For whom? Obviously, it’s not safe for the child….They like to act as if it’s an everyday nothing—like removing a polyp. But in reality, your body is going to fight back against that because the woman’s body is designed to protect that life and protect that fetus.”

6. Myth: Abortion is necessary in order for women to fully control their own bodies.

Gill responds: “They like to say, ‘My body, my choice.’ And I would say to them, ‘Sure, you can do whatever you want with your body, but we’re talking about another human’s body. It’s another human’s body that you’re trying to mutilate. And it’s another person’s heartbeat you’re stopping.”

7. Myth: We must have legal abortions because of rape and incest (leaving people with the impression they comprise most abortions).

Dr. Chuck Donovan, president of the above-mentioned Charlotte Lozier Institute, says the data shows that abortions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother comprise less than 1% of all abortions.

8. Myth: The mother has no option but to give birth and keep her baby.

Donovan told me in a radio interview that safe harbor/safe haven laws exist in one form or another in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia. Within 30 days of delivering a baby, that baby can be brought over in a box or basket to a local fire department or police department and be dropped off, no questions asked, no charges filed.

The Declaration of Independence says our rights come from the Creator and the first of these is the right to life. After a half-century of the abortion ethic, we have a lot of lost ground cherishing that right. Exploding myths that promote abortion is a step in the right direction.

Elie Mystal: GOP ‘Policies Attract the Worst People Possible’

Tuesday on CNN’s The LeadThe Nation’s racist “senior justice correspondent” (read: race agitator) Elie Mystal said he believed Republican “policies attract the worst people possible.”

Network political commentator S.E. Cupp ranted, “Because people like Kanye West occasionally say things that seem adjacent to the right-wing political agenda, they are completely willing to exploit him and, yes, even defend rank anti-Semitism. Because Tommy Tuberville is standing at a Trump rally and saying the right things and naming the right enemies, Republicans are fine with his naked racism. Herschel Walker is an obvious hypocrite, obvious. Whatever you think about abortion and I don’t like abortion, he’s an obvious hypocrite, and that doesn’t matter. It is because Republicans have decided politics is more important than decency, honesty, conviction, integrity, any of these things. None of it matters, even if you’re antisemitic, racist or a hypocrite.”

That’s not political commentary; that’s just hate-mongering and demonizing your opponent.

Mystal said, “Is this where I get to say I told you all so? This has been their party for a long time. At some point Republicans need to look to themselves, look at the kinds of policies they’re promoting, look at the way they want the country to be and ask why do our policies attract the worst people possible? Like they have to ask that question at some point to move forward from what has happened to their party.”

Again — that’s not political commentary. In addition to being Democrat projection, it’s just hate propaganda.

Depicting America’s Founding Fathers As “Racist, Misogynist Jerkfaces”

On May 2, 2022, Politico reported that an unidentified individual had leaked an initial draft majority opinion, written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, in which the Court had decided to strike down the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. The following night on MSNBC, Mystal told Joy Reid: “Alito’s fundamental reasoning is that abortion is not a fundamental right because it doesn’t go back to the Founding, because the Founding Fathers didn’t recognize abortion as a fundamental right. He’s right about that. The Founding Fathers didn’t recognize abortion as a fundamental right because the Founding Fathers were racist, misogynist jerkfaces who didn’t believe that women had any rights at all. So, of course, they didn’t believe that women had rights to their own bodies. The Founding Fathers didn’t believe that marital rape was a thing! Couldn’t be a thing, according to the Founding Fathers, according to Sam Alito, so that’s the history that Sam Alito is accessing.”

The Premeditated Murder of the American Family

“YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE THERE”

In 1959, I was 18, newly married to my former boyfriend of four years, and thrilled to be starting my “grown-up” life with the man of my dreams. Little did my then-apolitical self know that the close of that halcyon decade had been preceded by nearly a century of a concerted effort to destroy the American family, an effort fueled by the same fanatical Communist zealots who now occupy the Oval Office of the United States of America!

Now why would anyone––much less a huge number of people––want to destroy the greatest and most successful experiment in government in world history, one which President Abraham Lincoln described as “of the people, by the people, for the people,” the Democratic Republic of the United States of America?

Simply, because it flew in the face of every political system that previously existed––monarchies, dictatorships, oligarchies, aristocracies, totalitarianism, communism, socialism––systems in which the immense power and abuse-of-power that these regimes exercised would be vanquished if replaced by the Power of the People that the Founding Fathers of America envisioned.

The mission of those other regimes was never ever about concern for their populaces; rather it was––and is today––purely about the acquisition and maintenance of power and control and especially the immense wealth that comes with both power and control. Always, always, always follow the money!

HOW CAN WE DESTROY AMERICA?

The enemies of America thought long and hard about how to destroy this fledgling experiment. It was clear to them that America’s strength was a function of three phenomena:

  • A fervent belief in the God who makes miracles happen, for just one example the crushing defeat of the thunderously powerful English Empire’s armies by blazing patriots like General George Washington and his ragtag army of American heroes.
  • An equally ardent belief in and passion for the concept of Freedom. Men who knew they were going to die, and their wives who believed their deaths were for the noble cause of freedom, all sacrificed to bring about our victory over the monarchy that wanted to continue to rule us.
  • The most passionate was the embrace, belief, and allegiance to family, its sanctity, its strength, its ability to weather all storms and overcome all obstacles.

If we destroy all three, our enemies reasoned, the masses they considered essentially stupid would be forced to rely exclusively on Big Government. And so, to this day, the socialists-cum-communists among us are employing––as their predecessors did–– every malevolent, criminal, and vicious tactic they can muster to actualize that goal.

ASTOUNDING PROGRESS

The America haters among us have already:

Still, the family remains their most desired––yet maddeningly elusive––target.

HELP ALONG THE WAY

That effort was generously helped––perhaps, at first, innocently––by the theories of Sigmund Freud (1836-1939), the Austrian neurologist-cum-psychiatrist who was wildly successful in convincing the relatively new and free-thinking American public that the genesis of neuroses, phobias, anxieties, obsessions, depression, psychosis, and general psychological malfunction not only took place in the first few years of life, but that the mothers who raised these suffering children were primarily to blame. Later therapists, like the sadistic psychiatrist Bruno Bettelheim, blamed mothers for their children’s autism.

Mission #1 Accomplished: Mothers are not good for children.

These psychological theories prevailed throughout the 20th century and up to today, embraced by generations of psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, and psychotherapists until 1998 when they were thoroughly debunked by Judith Rich Harris in The Nurture Assumption, where the Harvard-educated psychologist and editor of most of the psychology texts used in colleges and medical schools in America argued persuasively that a person’s peer group is the major influence of thought, feelings, and behavior throughout life.

THE NEXT STEP

In 1960, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the most world-changing medication in history, developed by Dr. John Rock, a Harvard professor and obstetrician-gynecologist with five children––along with Drs. Gregory Pincus, C.M. Phang, and Selzo Garcia. Their creation was the birth-control pill, aka The Pill! For the first time in world history, women had control over their reproduction.

For millions of women, it was their own Declaration of Independence, and a huge relief not to have to worry every month about getting pregnant.

Mission #2 Accomplished: Now we can be just like men, some women reasoned, and have as much sex as we want without worrying about getting pregnant. Thus was the Free Sex movement born and a complete redefinition of traditional morality.

GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!

Three years after The Pill, in 1963, a book by Betty Friedan, a housewife with three children, shot to the top of every bestseller list. In essence, The Feminine Mystique told women that they were simply too smart, too creative, too intrinsically or at least potentially powerful to be spending their time, actually wasting their time changing diapers, folding laundry, and—the most colossal waste of time of all––raising children.

Nevertheless, Friedan’s book resonated with multimillions of women who had lived through the peaceful ‘50s and been spared the suffering and sacrifice of their mothers and grandmothers who had lived through the Great Depression in 1929, planted Victory Gardens during World Wars I and II, joined Rosie the Riveter in working in factories and shipyards to help the WWII war effort, lost husbands and sons to war, often raised children on their own, yet kept their families intact. The list of their arduous and valorous deeds goes on and on.

But that was then, the young women of the ‘60’s believed…this is now. Look what we have already accomplished! After that stodgy old Republican President (and former General) Dwight D. Eisenhower, we elected the dashing Democrat John F. Kennedy, with his glamorous wife Jackie and their two adorable children––all who ushered in the age of politics on “live” TV.

Mission #3 Accomplished: Multimillions of young women abandoned the once-desired goal of early marriage and motherhood and instead enrolled in colleges and universities where they pursued professional careers ranging from medicine and law and architecture to jobs like telephone linewomen to military combatants to firefighters to hedge fund managers to business executives, et al.

Coincidentally, ahem, an economy that once allowed men to work outside of the home and support a wife and children magically became an economy that only two working parents could afford. Kind of like an economy that was completely energy independent in 2020 quite magically became one in which the President of the United States had to beg foreign countries to sell him oil in 2021.

REALITY SETS IN

But the ‘60s also ushered in the historically unprecedented rash of violent assassinations––live on TV––of:

  • U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1963 (age 46),
  • Firebrand Black activist Malcolm X in 1965 (age 39),
  • Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968 (age 39),
  • Former Attorney General and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in 1968 (age 42).

All of a sudden, the idealized world of the newly emancipated women was shattered. The world is out of control, they realized. Is it any wonder that so many of them enthusiastically embraced (or attended) the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival, with not only free sex but a geyser of drugs for the smoking and snorting and injecting?

Mission #4 Accomplished: Many of these college-educated women congratulated themselves on avoiding marriage and especially motherhood, asking themselves: “Who wants to bring a child into this world?”

ONLY A FEW YEARS LATER

In 1971, Gloria Steinem––“We are becoming the men we wanted to marry” ––founded the first national feminist magazine, Ms., along with founding editor Letty Cottin Pogrebin and others.

Its message, as Pogrebin said on TV, was to spare women the dire fate of talking to their friends about laundry detergents. This and other angry feminist messages inspired an entire generation of women to use The Pill, defer marriage, go to college, pursue careers, and not even contemplate marriage or motherhood until their early- or mid-thirties, when their biological clocks started ticking quite loudly.

Mission #5 Accomplished: The traditional nuclear family was being dismantled by a new generation of women who bought into the notion that making money was infinitely more satisfying, meaningful, and important than raising children.

MARRIAGE OUT—NOW BABIES OUT!

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court issued a 7–2 decision in Roe v. Wade that all women had a “right” to an abortion. To this day, that decision is the Holy Grail of millions of women who believe that “my body, my choice” starts after they’ve had unprotected sex and gotten pregnant with a baby they don’t want.

In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and sent the decision for abortion back to each individual state. Today, every woman in the United States who wants an abortion can get an abortion, although some may have to endure the inconvenience of traveling to another state…forget about the inconvenience their embryos face of a death sentence!

Mission #6 Accomplished: The once-most-cherished accomplishment of both men and women—to be the parent of a newborn baby––was effectively reduced to ending that baby’s life in utero. And today, in some states, abortion exists right up to the moment a full-term baby is delivered, and, believe it or not, in California, even up to the time a healthy thriving baby is 28 days old!

THE TICKING CLOCK

But uh-oh. After graduating from college and laboring in the workforce for over a decade, millions of women realized that this money-making thing wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. But looking for a good man––after stepping on their necks on the way up the ladder––was even more problematic.

Nevertheless, the new social phenomenon of women marrying in their mid-thirties and older took hold, and not coincidentally gave rise to a booming in-vitro-fertilization industry, as millions of these new brides learned that conceiving and carrying a child after the age of 35 was both a “high-risk” and extremely pricey enterprise.

Mission #7 Accomplished: Take the joy out of intimacy and sex, make it a mechanical act, and further erode both marriage and the family at the same time.

BUT WHAT ABOUT MY CAREER?

The modern women had been told by the influencers of the day that they could “have it all” –– marriage, children, and career. Since they wanted it all, they bought it!

Some women were lucky to have their mothers or mothers-in-law or even young grandmothers volunteer to raise their children, and a rare few could afford expensive nannies.

But most women had to rely on another industry that boomed like no other––the daycare business––where mothers dropped off their infants, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to caregivers who tended up to 20 or more children at a time. This meant that for the entire day, paid workers made sure that those children were safe and fed, but not necessarily held, loved, comforted, taught, or nurtured.

However, this still allowed the mothers of these infants, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to brag that the hour or so they spent with their child at the end of a day––in which both mother and child were exhausted––was, ahem, “quality time.”

In addition, these “older” mothers, already guilty about the protracted hours away from their children, strove to be “friends” with their kids, praising them for, um, waking up in the morning, even smoking pot with them, and, in essence, abandoning the traditional role of the parent who teaches right and wrong, good and bad, proper behavior, et al.

Mission #8 Accomplished: Women out of the home, children being raised by strangers, the American family being dismantled piece by piece.

THE GENIUS STEVE FACTOR

Two geniuses…Steve Case, the founding CEO of America Online (AOL) in 1983 (which really took off in the ‘90s), and Steve Jobs, who invented, created, introduced the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad in 2010.

No need to elaborate on the degree to which these geniuses totally eliminated face-to-face communication and succeeded in riveting both parents and children to all the tantalizing distractions on these electronic devices that separate people and depersonalize intimate relationships, especially meaningful communication between parents and children.

Mission #9 Accomplished: Family concerns take a backseat to beeping texts, sexy emojis, Facebook invitations, Instagram images, Hollywood gossip, and horrifically graphic porn sites, which even savvy eight-year-olds can access with ease.

Worse, this has given rise to an entire generation of sociopaths who, understandably, have little or no human empathy, given the largely robotic care they received, combined with their toxic schooling and intimate “relationships” with their electronic devices.

Also, a remarkably fragile generation. When parents fear that “everything children see, do, eat, hear, and lick could hurt them,” write Lenore Skenazy and Jonathan Haidt in “The Fragile Generation,” children are left “more fragile, more easily offended, and more reliant on others.” Safe spaces, anyone?

EMBOLDENED PSYCHOPATHS

With all this success, it is no wonder that the lunatics who are running the insane asylum that is America today have inflicted their warped vision of the world on a tremendous number of people, thanks largely to a corrupt leftist media who are literally paid––see Media Whores––to carry these sick messages 24/7.

Men can have babies, they say. Well, of course, it you’re a woman who thinks she’s a man and decides to “transition” and undergo a double mastectomy and take testosterone injections but keeps her ovaries and uterus and Fallopian tubes and then is artificially inseminated and conceives and carries a baby, all the time proclaiming her maleness, he/she must think we’re all like recent Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who when asked to define a woman said she couldn’t because “I am not a biologist.” Right.

“YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE THERE”

And now we have an ad––since removed and eliminated from every search engine––that shows a child laughing and sharing an experience with her clearly delighted mother. Both are on iPads communicating long distance. The ad ends with a voice telling the mother: “You Don’t Have to Be There.”

Right. The mother doesn’t have to be there to raise and love and comfort and teach and tuck her child in at night, and the father doesn’t have to be there, either. Only Big Government should raise their child to be a good little obedient Communist. That’s the message!

Mission #10 Accomplished: Father never mentioned, mother out of the picture, the actual premeditated murder of the American family.

I rest my case.

UNCOVERED: The Biden Administration Propaganda Plan to Push COVID Vaccine

Washington, D.C. – Judicial Watch announced today that it received 249 pages of records from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) detailing the extensive media plans for a propaganda campaign to push the COVID-19 vaccine.

The records were received in in response to an August 2021 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)lawsuit filed after HHS failed to respond to a April 19, 2021 request for records related to the Biden HHS’ “COVID-19 Community Corps” program (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 1:22-cv-02315)).

Judicial Watch is asking for all records regarding the application process; all organizations asking to be chosen to participate; all grants; and all communications of representatives of the Department of Health and Human Services regarding the program.

PGS 30- 34 The newly released records include a document titled “PEC [Public Education Campaign] Plan April 19 -May 31 [2021],” which includes the following media plans and action items:

  • Work with all major sports leagues to send vaccination information to ticket holders
  • Work with ESPN for hosts to provide vaccination information.
  • Partner with Disneyland Parks for vaccination events when the amusement parks reopen.
  • Work with the Hollywood guilds to work vaccination messaging into scriped and reality TV shows (ex: Writers Guild, Directors Guild.)

“These records show a disturbing and massive campaign by the Biden administration to propagandize and politicize the controversial COVID vaccine,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It seems as if the entire entertainment industry was an agent for the government!”

Through FOIA, Judicial Watch has uncovered a substantial amount of information about COVID-19 issues:

  • Recently, NIH records revealed an FBI “inquiry” into the NIH’s controversial bat coronavirus grant tied to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The records also show National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) officials were concerned about “gain-of-function” research in China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2016. The Fauci agency was also concerned about EcoHealth Alliance’s lack of compliance with reporting rules and use of gain-of-function research in the NIH-funded research involving bat coronaviruses in Wuhan, China.
  • HHS records revealed that from 2014 to 2019, $826,277 was given to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for bat coronavirus research by the NIAID.
  • NIAID records showed that it gave nine China-related grants to EcoHealth Alliance to research coronavirus emergence in bats and was the NIH’s top issuer of grants to the Wuhan lab itself. The records also included an email from the vice director of the Wuhan Lab asking an NIH official for help finding disinfectants for decontamination of airtight suits and indoor surfaces.
  • HHS records included an “urgent for Dr. Fauci ” email chain, citing ties between the Wuhan lab and the taxpayer-funded EcoHealth Alliance. The government emails also reported that the foundation of U.S. billionaire Bill Gates worked closely with the Chinese government to pave the way for Chinese-produced medications to be sold outside China and help “raise China’s voice of governance by placing representatives from China on important international counsels as high level commitment from China.”
  • HHS records included a grant application for research involving the coronavirus that appears to describe “gain-of-function” research involving RNA extractions from bats, experiments on viruses, attempts to develop a chimeric virus and efforts to genetically manipulate the full-length bat SARSr-CoV WIV1 strain molecular clone.
  • HHS records showed the State Department and NIAID knew immediately in January 2020 that China was withholding COVID data, which was hindering risk assessment and response by public health officials.
  • University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) records show the former director of the Galveston National Laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Dr. James W. Le Duc warned Chinese researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology of potential investigations into the COVID issue by Congress.
  • HHS records regarding biodistribution studies and related data for the COVID-19 vaccines show a key component of the vaccines developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), were found outside the injection site, mainly the liver, adrenal glands, spleen and ovaries of test animals, eight to 48 hours after injection.
  • Records from the Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP) reveal safety lapses and violations at U.S. biosafety laboratories that conduct research on dangerous agents and toxins.
  • HHS records include emails between National Institutes of Health (NIH) then-Director Francis Collins and Anthony Fauci, the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), about hydroxychloroquine and COVID-19.
  • HHS records show that NIH officials tailored confidentiality forms to China’s terms and that the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an unreleased, “strictly confidential” COVID-19 epidemiological analysis in January 2020.
  • Fauci emails include his approval of a press release supportive of China’s response to the 2019 novel coronavirus.

The Most Important Problem Facing The Country? It’s The Government Stupid!

Yes! Why? Because there’s nothing being done about rampant inflation. Republicans have helped by approving too much spending including Ukraine handouts including our local U.S. House member Franklin, Senators Marco Rubio and rick Scott, and other Florida Republican Congresspersons; illegal immigration (again only a few Republicans actually speak out against or do anything about the invasion of illegals including terrorists, criminals (rapists, human traffickers, drug dealers, murderers etc.) nor the loss of wealth for the middle class as 401Ks continue to plummet. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is an exception.

Watch this statement by Senator Bernie Sanders to understand that it truly is the government, stupid.

So when they say Government is the problem, it is not just the Marxist Democrats at fault. We’ll see what Republicans do when they take back Congress. Will we have real retribution/change or just another Turtle/Ryan led do nothing Congress?

Even when Trump had a Republican Congress the only thing they accomplished was Tax Reform which was not made permanent.

Americans identify ‘the most important problem facing the country’

None of 3 branches of government trusted by a majority of citizens

By Bob Unruh • Published October 11, 2022

A new poll shows there is not a majority of the American people that trusts the nation’s judicial branch.

Nor does a majority trust the executive branch.

And those who trust the legislation branch – do not make up a majority either.

A new polling from Gallup cites the continuing distrust Americans feel for their government, a trust that has been falling even further.

“The latest decline in Americans’ trust in the judicial branch of the federal government — to 47% — means this is the first time that none of the three branches is trusted by a majority of Americans. The average level of trust in the three branches is 43% this year, tying 2015 as the lowest in Gallup’s history,” the poll analysis said. “That year marked the previous low in trust in the judicial branch (53%); trust in the legislative branch (32%) was lower than it is now, while trust in the executive branch (45%) was similar to what it is today.”

The polling reported, “Americans continue to name the government as the most important problem facing the country as leaders in Washington struggle to find solutions to address inflation, illegal immigration, climate change and gun violence.”

Why is this?

“The erosion of trust is largely due to increasingly partisan evaluations of government institutions at a time when politics has become all-important. Republicans and Democrats are inclined to trust institutions when they are controlled by leaders they agree with but withhold trust when leaders don’t make decisions in line with their own political views or policy preferences. In a democratic society, Americans would ideally retain trust in their government institutions regardless of which party is in control, provided those leaders put the nation’s interests first and follow the Constitution, laws, procedures and norms that govern the operation of those institutions,” the report said.

Biden’s Energy Chaos: The Who, What, When, Why and How?

Cheap and reliable energy is what makes our nation strong in peace time and in war. Without it we devolve into a second rate nation dependent on others for energy, the very life blood that drives our economy.

Biden’s key policy is to create chaos by attacking our ability to discover, mine, drill, extract, refine, transport and provide cheap and reliable energy to every American family, community, business and governments at every level.

Watch this video interview with Rick Perry, the 14th United States Secretary of Energy from 2017 to 2019 and the 47th Governor of Texas from 2000 to 2015, on Fox News to discuss the Biden Administration’s Energy Crisis:

Here are the answers to the questions we asked in the title.

WHO: Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and Jennifer Mulhern Granholm the United States Secretary of Energy. Granholm said, “I think blaming the president for high gas prices is like blaming Rudy Giuliani for 9/11.Note: The twin towers in New York City and the Pentagon were deliberately attacked by the radical Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda supported by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. deliberately canceled the Keystone XL pipeline, stopped issuing permits to explore and drill for oil and natural gas, made the decision to reduce and ultimately eliminate fossil fuel use and his policy to save the planet by going to green energy. Both of these are terrorist attacks on the American people.

WHAT: The Green New Deal.  The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA)—a sweeping climate and health care package that invests $369 billion in energy, climate, and justice over 10 years—was signed into law in August of 2022. After the law was signed by Biden Natural Resources Defense Council President Manish Bapna stated, “This law moves us closer to President Biden’s pledge to cut climate pollution 50 to 52 percent from 2005 levels by 2030. To get there, he must use his established authority to write rules to help cut carbon pollution from our cars, trucks, and dirty power plants, reduce methane emissions, and keep investors informed on corporate climate risk…This is a turning point in the climate fight – the strongest U.S. action yet to confront the existential challenge of our time [climate change].” Note: No piece of legislation can alter the weather, let alone the climate. Climate change is a myth to pass legislation that forces mankind to do things that harm it.

WHEN: August 2022 with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). Note: The passage of this act has not reduced inflation. In fact consumer prices and the inflation rate was 9.1% in June and has gotten much worse and America is officially in a recession. Wall Street is experiencing a bull market as well. The U.S. dollar has lost 13% its value since 2020. Today’s prices are 1.14 times higher than average prices since 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index. A dollar today only buys 87.390% of what it could buy back then. The inflation rate in 2020 was 1.23%. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated that the S&P 500 could yet fall by “another easy 20%” from current levels, adding that “the next 20% would be much more painful than the first.” Global inflation is forecast to rise from 4.7 percent in 2021 to 8.8 percent in 2022.

WHY: Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. policies including lockdowns, vaccine mandates, goal to eliminate fossil fuels and his anti-capitalism policies. OPEC and its plus one Russia (OPEC+) announced they would curb production by 2 million barrels per day. This happened despite the Biden Administration’s plan to purchase OPEC barrels to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in exchange for a guarantee to not lower production. According to Goldman Sachs, we are likely to see oil prices return to $110 per barrel, and gasoline prices will likely return to $5 to $6 a gallon nationally.

HOW: By Executive Orders and legislation passed by the current Democrat controlled Congress.

In a Real Clear Policy column titled How Much Worse Can Our Energy Policies Get?  adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute Jonathan Lesser reported,

In the wake of OPEC’s two million barrel per day announced production cut, the Biden Administration has responded with a cynical set of policy responses that will further damage the US and world economies.

[ … ]

Back at home, the Department of the Interior is considering a ban on all offshore oil and gas leases for the next five years that is being pushed by green energy advocates. Coupled with DOI’s slow-walking of new leases on federally-owned lands, the ban will push natural gas and crude oil prices even higher. If Democrats convince the Biden Administration to ban natural gas exports, the harm will be compounded. Natural gas prices in Europe will rise even further and countries will burn more crude to generate electricity, raising crude prices still higher. OPEC and Russia will be delighted.

A cynical short-term effort to reduce the price of gasoline. Price controls on Russian crude that will increase prices. Restrictions on US natural gas and oil supplies supposedly to speed the transition to green energy. If these policies were not so economically destructive, they would be laughable.

Except consumers and businesses around the world won’t be laughing.

The Bottom Line

Americans nationwide have been footing the bill at the pump, at work and at the grocery store for the Biden Administration’s disastrous energy policies. Americans are paying the price for the Biden Administration’s energy dependence at the feet of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and foreign adversaries like socialist Venezuela.

Unfortunately, our fuel bill is about to skyrocket yet again.

America First Policy Institute reports,

The Biden Administration’s energy dependent policies have put the United States in a vulnerable position. Instead of working for energy independence, the United States runs to foreign governments for energy. These governments include Venezuela, which is ironically an OPEC member.

Watch Astrid Hajjar examines the Biden Administration’s flirtatious advances toward Venezuela.

The cost of the Biden Administration’s energy dependent policies is being paid for by hardworking Americans, and these policies are helping enrich tyrants abroad. An America First Agenda is one that restores our energy independence and alleviates Americans’ pain at the pump.

Understanding Change Over The Years

BRYCE ON AGING

I recently wrote this for a good friend on the occasion of his 80th birthday. He is a great guy and I wanted to encapsulate a lot of what we have discussed over the years.

As Jack Benny said, “I don’t deserve this award, but I have arthritis and I don’t deserve that either.” And if you don’t know who Jack Benny was, you’ve missed a lot.

My friend is now entering his 9th decade and is doing a bit of trail-blazing for our group. I started to think about what both he, and all of us, have learned along the way. So, I want to review this by decade.

IN OUR FIRST TEN YEARS

Early on, we develop a dependency on our parents who try to teach us valuable moral values. If they do not, it defaults to churches, scouting, teammates on the playing fields, schools, or the media (which has a lousy track record these days). Parents check out our friends to see if they are good for us; if not, we hear about it. “Stay away from that punk, he’s an idiot,” they said (and quite often they were right).

If we are lucky to have them, we love our grandparents, not because of opulent gifts, but by the love and attention they provide, such as homemade baked goods, trips to the zoo and museums, knitting and sewing, fishing, and attendance at our first baseball game. They also try to teach us the history of the family and our cultural background which, hopefully, we will heed.

We attend school and develop friends, some for life. Some of us love school, others revolt against it for many years, and fight the system.

This is the “Age of Discovery.” You learn what you like to eat and what you abhor. To this day, I still can’t bring myself to eat lima beans or liver.

It’s a glorious time and your only true vacation from life, you just don’t know it at the time.

Boys and girls discover the charm of the other sex, but don’t understand why. We learn to dance with each other, most doing it badly. Boys either know how to get along with girls or are clumsy as they fear catching the deadly “cooties” disease.

You learn about death, through a grandparent or other favorite relative. Suddenly there is a void in your life which we do not understand. Most of us never figure it out, other than to say we wish we had spent more time with the person.

We enjoy the simplicities of life, such as a root beer barrel, rock candy, an ice cream soda, your grandmother’s homemade cakes and pies, owning your own bicycle (which you take everywhere), picking some fruit, catching a fish, or buying a comic book. As a kid, you discovered a dollar could go a long way and we saved every penny.

We suffer numerous bruises, breaks, cuts and accidents. At first, mothers panic, but as it happens more repetitively, they begin to say, “Oh, he’ll get over it.”

Mothers never sleep and constantly listen for signs of mischief. They offer classic maxims like, “If you’re not careful, you’ll put your eye out,” “Be careful or you’ll blow your hand off,” and “Wait until your father comes home.” If you really got out of line, you got swatted. In my house, you got “the strap.” Even my grandmothers kept a flyswatter or switch nearby to keep us in line.

TEENAGE YEARS (11-19)

We are quickly moving towards maturity, and stand in awe of puberty. Mother’s maxims change to, “Stop it or you’ll go blind.”

It is at this age where we learn we have to make our own decisions. What our parents had to say was important, as well as our peers, but we reluctantly learn we are ultimately responsible for our actions and decisions and nobody else.

Physically, our bodies grow and change, and our hormones rage. This is when the parents give us “the talk” which we’re all surprised by; but I think Hollywood has changed all that. I think our grand-kids can now give us a better “talk.” It would be scarey if we replied, “Gee, I didn’t know that.”

We take on small part time jobs, be it at a gas station, drug store, flipping burgers, or whatever. From this, we learn the important concept of “responsibility;” that we will have to work with others who depend on our abilities, regardless of how mundane we think the job is. My first job was as a SOHIO station attendant in Cincinnati where I pumped gas for $1.65 an hour. At our station, gas was 35 cents per gallon (but I also knew places where you could get it for 29 cents). Regardless, this simple job taught me responsibility, how to work with the public, and the necessity for portraying a proper image; I was not just a “grease jockey,” I was a representative of a big company who taught us to wear a clean uniform, cut our hair, and make everyone feel welcome so we could cultivate return business. Now, it is just the reverse.

As we come to the end of the teenage years, we knew we were running out of time, and adulthood was just around the corner. We also knew we would have to seek independence soon, and it scared us.

Our choices were simple:

  • Get a job
  • Go to college
  • Attend a trade school
  • Attend the military – where you learned structure, discipline, and gave the person a sense of purpose.

What we choose during these critical years affect us for the rest of our lives.

It is during the teen years when we learn to drive, scaring the hell out of mothers, and driving fathers crazy as they watch their car insurance skyrocket. Driving a car, teaches us the joy of independence, and to be a responsible driver; because if we screw up here, we can hurt more than ourselves.

We develop an attachment to the music and film of our time. At first, we listen to our parent’s music, but we quickly gravitate to our own. Parents don’t understand the music and constantly yell, “Turn that garbage off!”

Teens also start to experiment with booze and drugs as a form of escapism. The sad thing is, particularly with drugs, it can lead to death. As such, understanding addiction becomes incredibly important.

OUR TWENTIES

Studies from around the world show there is a proper sequence to follow in order to succeed in life: Education -> Career -> Family

If you get this wrong, you will have a difficult time in life. This has been proven all over the world, and starts to become obvious at this stage.

As my father-in-law used to say: “We have 30 years to learn, 30 years to earn, and 30 years to burn (the money).”

This leads to marriage. I tend to believe you should be certified in order to get married. I’ve seen too many people marry for the wrong reasons, particularly one based on sex only. As a Notary Public in Florida I have had the opportunity to marry people. I always admonish them to think of marriage like the Tango, that beautiful Latin dance requiring the skills of both partners; and that is what marriage is, a partnership requiring commitment, and like the Tango, marriage can be just as beautiful if you do it together.

The seeds of religion were planted years ago in Sunday School, but they begin to blossom now. As a youngster you weren’t sure what everything meant. Baptisms and confirmations were mysteries, but we begin to understand it was mostly lessons in morality. Now, in our twenties, we seek such morality, we want to pass it on to our offspring, and we take comfort that a higher Supreme Being is out there.

With a family underway, we become a little more self-conscious about the world around us. We take out life insurance to take care of our family and put aside money for college tuition (Yes, this all begins in our twenties, if we are lucky). We also start to become sensitive to our civic responsibilities, such as voting and jury duty, something nobody prepared us for.

At work, we are aggressively learning our craft. We discover there is a big difference between a career and a mere job. We all seek enjoyment in our chosen craft, but many settle for just a job. The ultimate goal of work is to leave the world a better place than before we got here.

OUR THIRTIES

Sometime during this decade we start to ask the disturbing question, “Have we become our parents?” Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you interpret it), the answer is, “Yes,” as we find we have to make the same decisions our parents made.

Our house becomes a major investment for us, we now have an un-Godly amount of insurance on our houses, cars, and medical. So much so, insurance agents start to smile when they see you are calling them.

We now have little ones underfoot who demand our attention, particularly at school functions, clubs and on the athletic fields. Now is the time to teach them the importance of good grades and being courteous, such as writing a sincere thank you note to someone, particularly grandparents.

It is at this time you become more active in nonprofit groups, such as churches and temples, fraternal groups, professional associations, homeowner associations and school groups. You do this more for peace of mind than anything else.

At work, you are becoming a master of your craft; people look to you for resourcefulness in getting a job done.

Yes, we are definitely starting to become our parents.

OUR FORTIES

When we reach the age of forty, we say “Whoops,” as it dawns on us that our life is half over and we better get moving. This is when we start to take on more responsibilities and become managers and department heads.

Our management style either involves micromanagement, telling everyone how to do their job, or we manage from the bottom-up by carefully training our people, empowering them, and turning them loose on their work. You learn you cannot afford to have people love you, as you’ve got to get a job done. Nor can you afford to be Atilla the Hun. Your goal is to promote teamwork and discourage rugged individualism, thereby creating win-win situations for everyone.

OUR FIFTIES

I’ve found that once you enter your fifties you become more reflective on where you’ve been and where you’re going. Now, more than ever, you embrace a sense of family, particularly as your children graduate, get married, and start families of their own.

One nice thing about becoming a grandparent is you are now at liberty to spoil your grandchildren. You give them money, candy, and toys, and their parents begin to wonder, “Who is this guy?” “Is this the same guy who made us do chores, cut the grass, and keep the house clean for fifty cents?” While your children scratch their heads, you finally get the last laugh.

At work, you have earned senior status, and become an important resource to the company as you mentor and try to educate the younger people. If they’re smart, they will listen as you possess the history of the company. You also can describe what has been tried and failed, and what works. Hopefully, they’ll listen.

OUR SIXTIES

I call this, “The Big Slow Down.”

When you turn 60, people start treating you differently. “Ok old man, sit in the corner, eat your cookie, and we’ll take it from here.” You still have a dance or two left on your card and still want to make a difference, but management and the younger workers begin to shove you aside.

It is also at this time when Retirement raises its ugly head. Some people welcome it, others resist it. Now we have to think about Social Security, Medicare, Insurance supplements, and keeping a constant eye on our portfolio.

You find personal conversations with your peers change from such things as management, production, and the competition, to things such as sciatica, macular degeneration, Milk of Magnesia, GasX, hemorrhoids and impotence. And it occurs to you, it was more fun the other way around.

You consider attending your 50th high school reunion. Some will go and have a great time catching up with old friends; others will remember the jerks of their class who are still witless. Consequently, you decide wisely to stay home. After all, we have Zoom don’t we?

OUR SEVENTIES

This is when we become more cognizant of the changes around us:

  • We cannot relate to the fashions of the day, preferring clothes and material from our younger days. For example, we can no longer find the type of underwear we wore for years.
  • We no longer understand the vernacular. For example, people say things like “Woke,” “Meme,” “Apps,” and “Social Equity,” and we scratch our head.
  • We do not understand their music and dancing. Frankly, it looks like a group of people in heat.
  • We start forgetting things, be it a name or word, or even worse, to shave, brush your teeth, or wash your hair in the morning. You’ve done it for so many years, you believe you already did it. You are also apt to lose TV remotes, cell phones, and keys.
  • The political world has changed. It is totally different than what you remember. You just don’t get it. Nor do you understand the morality of the day. It is not what you grew up with.
  • Due to our gastrointestinal problems, we now eat food in smaller portions and it’s more bland.
  • Travel, which was considered a great joy earlier in life, is now considered loathsome. Besides, we no longer have the strength to climb mountains anymore.
  • We have difficulty with the technology of the day. We use smart phones for nothing but communications, and ignore the hundreds of icons on it. Plus we still write checks and balance bank accounts using paper; either because we do not know how to set it up, or we simply do not trust the banks. Regardless, we develop a dependency on our grandchildren to fix the TV remotes, cell phones, and change all the clocks.
  • In terms of romance, we chase each other around the bedroom but quickly forget why.
  • Friends pass away without notice and we find ourselves alone.

Basically, we are afraid of getting beat up by age. We’re a little heavier now, we’ve lost or are losing our hair and hearing

It is around this time, we lose a spouse, and life is not the same anymore. There is an emptiness inside us and feel like we’ve lost an appendage. For those lucky to have stayed married all these years, enjoy every moment together and cherish your time. You are very lucky.

We now find ourselves in the uncomfortable position of being matriarch or patriarch of the family, something we didn’t sign up for, but now expected to pick up the check at family dinners.

You may not be strong anymore, but you’re smarter now. You are no longer able to pick up large stones or move refrigerators in a single bound, so you find other, more imaginative ways to get the job done, such as picking up the phone and calling a son or grandson.

You start planning for your demise by making sure your wills and related paperwork is in order. You also begin to consider who was good and bad to you over the years. You also negotiate with funeral homes for services and your final resting place. Many people think this is morbid, but you want to do what is right. One suggestion before making the final decision: alcohol. It’s easier to face a mortician when you are inebriated as opposed to clean and sober.

You find you spend more time in doctor offices than any other place, for tests, biopsies, consults, or routine checkups. You find your trips to medical facilities commands your social calendar, and you object to it. Interestingly, in doctor offices you can still find the same issues of “Boys Life” and “Sports Illustrated” you read back in the 1960s.

Physicians tell us to take a multitude of pills and medicines, thereby becoming the largest meal for us during the day. We take so many pills and medicines, we feel like a walking test-tube experiment. It’s very dehumanizing.

Then again, everyone insists you get some form of exercise, even if you’ve got bone-on-bone in your knees, neuropathy in your feet, your spine is out of alignment, bone spurs in your shoulders, and you now wear an adult diaper. Nevertheless, to keep people happy you go to a gym to stretch, lift weights, walk, and use bicycles. Does, this honestly make you feel better? Hardly, as your arthritis is still in a “seek and destroy” mode in your body.

What is most important is to keep your mind active. You read more, particularly history. Most people think you’re crazy for reading a hardbound book as opposed to a computer tablet. They think you are not in step with the news, but you are actually more aware of what is going on than younger people. You are also much less interested in being “politically correct,” and more interested in just enjoying life.

You finally discover that the simple things in life are the best. Trinkets and expensive toys no longer impress you. All you want is:

  • The love of a good woman.
  • A good drop of whiskey, perhaps a cigar, and some stimulating conversation.
  • Plus a good root beer barrel every now and then.

Your mantra is now KISS: Keep it Simple Stupid.

OUR EIGHTIES

I really cannot speak about this decade with any authority, but I presume it is time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and keep it simple.

Again, to quote Jack Benny, “Give me golf clubs, fresh air, and a beautiful partner, and you can keep my golf clubs and the fresh air.”

I guess the point of this essay is to realize we live in a constant state of change, and our ability to adapt over time. This that tests our fortitude. Some recognize change for what it is, and others openly resist it. Some people think the secret to longevity is simply to remain current with technology. I tend to believe it is an amalgamation of such things as technology, fashion, our vernacular, customs, and changing moral values. This is difficult to assimilate, particularly when you grew up with certain values. As for me, I don’t worry about such things and try to treat people courteously and professionally, with a little common courtesy thrown in.

Just remember, there is no denying an old Bryce’s Law, “If there is anything constant, it is change.”

Keep the Faith.
