The interview we are presenting in today’s Vortex is perhaps one of the most important we have ever conducted. We have included some sound bites in this episode to give you a flavor of it, but we strongly recommend that you view the whole interview.

When Our Lady appeared in Fatima in 1917, it was specifically to tell the world to repent and to warn of the coming scourge of communism (meaning Marxism). Marxism is the decided enemy of the Church, of Christ, because it replaces the supernatural with natural; it makes the State God.

Our interview is with Joseph Flynn — the brother of Gen. Michael Flynn and who heads up his legal defense fund. In our interview, he drops the bombshell that documents released as part of the ongoing Department of Justice (“DOJ”) investigation reveal that not only Obama but Joe Biden was a major player in the attempt to destroy Donald Trump even before the inauguration.

The chosen route was to conjure up charges against Gen. Michael Flynn — who had become aware of the fact that Obama had reworked America’s national intelligence apparatus.

This all started coming out a week ago when a document known as a “302” was released, showing the beginnings of what has been termed a “permanent coup” and that it was orchestrated from within the Obama White House — and Joe Biden was in on the whole thing.

If you’re wondering why you are hearing this on Church Militant and not CNN or MSNBC or even Fox News — except for the slightest little blurb — well, the answer should be obvious.

Why should all of this matter specifically to Catholics (aside from the fact that the Flynn family is faithful practicing Catholics)? Because the same dynamic creating a coup in Washington, D.C. is the exact same dynamic that is in high gear in Rome.

That analysis of what’s going on in Rome has been substantiated by considerable evidence and commentary over the past half-dozen years. It also explains why Pope Francis refused to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as Hong Kong’s Cdl. Zen — both of whom have been very public calling on Rome and the pope to condemn this march to worldwide Marxism.

Church Militant has been sounding this alarm for two years now, alerting the world to the union of Rome and the Washington, D.C. swamp to effectively oust Trump so that a new world order can be ushered in. Remember, the globalists never thought Trump was going to win in 2016.

The final push was supposed to happen from a Hillary Clinton White House. The globalists in the Church were already in place from early on in Francis’ papacy. They were to team up with a Hillary administration and carry the ball over the goal line.

That obviously did not happen. That’s why there’s been an unleashing of such evil against Trump by the Left: He ruined their plans, set them back four years — hopefully longer. America is the last piece on the board that needs to be taken off. One month to go.

CAMPAIGN 2020 OVERVIEW: THE STAKES

NEW YORK, NY/PRNewswire/ — The 2020 American Jewish Committee (AJC) survey of Jews in the United States regarding the upcoming elections shows that 75% would choose former Vice President Joe Biden and 22% President Donald Trump. In 2016, 16% voted for Trump and 62% for Hillary Clinton, while 7% chose another candidate and 14% did not vote.

The AJC survey is the most comprehensive Jewish organization poll of Jews in the United States. The survey of 1,334 American Jews, ages 18 or older, was conducted by SSRS via telephone from September 9 to October 4, with a margin of error for the total sample of plus or minus 4.2%.

American Jews were asked about the most important issue in deciding how to vote, which candidate would do a better job on key issues facing the U.S., as well as questions regarding U.S.-Israel relations and prospects for peace between Israel and the Arab world, and between Israel and the Palestinians.

As in prior election year AJC surveys, there is a pronounced division of opinion by Jewish religious affiliation, in addition to political party connection. Asked about party affiliation, 53% identified as Democrats, 14% as Republicans, and 25% as Independents.

Trump is preferred by 74% of Orthodox, 23% of Conservative, 20% of Reform, 3% of Reconstructionist, and 14% of Secular Jews. Biden is the choice of 18% of Orthodox, 72% of Conservative, 78% of Reform, 93% of Reconstructionist, and 83% of Secular Jews.

Vice President Biden’s share of the Jewish vote mirrors the degree of dissatisfaction the survey uncovered about President Trump’s performance in office. Seventy-seven percent of the respondents disapproved of the job the president is doing, 73% “strongly,” as compared to 22% who approved, 15% “strongly.”

The difference between Orthodox and other affiliated Jews in viewing how well the president is doing his job is clear. 75% of Orthodox, 24% of Conservative, 20% of Reform, 4% of Reconstructionist, and 15% of Secular Jews approve of President Trump’s performance. Those who disapprove are 25% of Orthodox, 76% of Conservative, 80% of Reform, 96% of Reconstructionist, and 85% of Secular Jews.

For American Jewish voters, the most important issue in deciding for whom to cast a ballot for president is the COVID-19 pandemic (26%), with others prioritizing health care (17%), the economy (13%), race relations (12%), crime (6%), foreign policy (5%), or another issue (20%).

Health care was chosen as the second most important issue by 20%, followed by COVID-19 (18%), race relations (17%), economy (16%), foreign policy (11%), crime (5%), or some other issue (12%).

By wide margins, American Jews believe that if elected president Joe Biden would handle several key issues facing the U.S. today better than President Trump, including the COVID-19 pandemic (78% vs. 19%), combatting terrorism (71% vs. 26%), and antisemitism in the U.S. (75% vs. 22%). The difference was narrower in those who believe that Biden would be better suited to strengthen U.S.-Israel relations (54% vs. 42%)

On the U.S.-Israel relationship today, 86% of respondents characterize it as strong, with 33% who say very strong, and 12% weak. Republicans (68%) are more likely than Independents (35%) or Democrats (22%) to say U.S.-Israel relations are very strong.

Recent efforts to establish relations between Israel and Arab countries apparently have had some influence on American Jews’ optimism. Nearly two in five (37%) say they are more optimistic than they were a year ago about peace between Israel and the Arab world. Forty-nine percent say their views haven’t changed much, while 13% say they are less optimistic about peace between Israel and the Arab world.

Republicans (77%) are more likely than Independents (45%) or Democrats (21%) to say they are more optimistic about peace with the Arab world.

On the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace, 55% of American Jews say their views have not changed, while 28% say they are less optimistic, and 16% say they are more optimistic than a year ago. Republicans (43%) are more likely than Independents (18%) or Democrats (7%) to say they are more optimistic about peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

‘Spontaneous’ Street Violence Is Well Organized, Pursuing a Radical Agenda

Add up everything we know about the ongoing violence in America’s cities, and you get a troubling picture.

It has nothing to do with law-abiding, peaceful demonstrations in favor of civil rights and police reform. No, the violence that exploits these well-intentioned activities—which often occurs after night falls and demonstrations have ended—is part of an organized effort to implement a radical political agenda.

For starters, the violence is organized criminal activity. The same destructive activists have been identified at different times in different cities around the country. For example, in August, eight members of the Seattle-based group Riot Kitchen were arrested after wreaking havoc in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Such groups are well-supported, as seen in the viral video of a rented U-Haul truck that appeared in Louisville, Kentucky, immediately after the grand jury verdict was announced in the Breonna Taylor case. The truck was stocked with riot gear and anti-police banners.

They are well-funded. In Grand Rapids, Michigan, for instance, the Michigan Solidarity Bail Fund posted $120,000 bail for rioters. Nationwide, bail funds have received tens of millions of dollars in donations in recent months.

These organized groups have no interest in demonstrating peacefully. They are showing up intending to commit violence. In Portland, Oregon, rioters came to the Portland courthouse armed with fireworks, Molotov cocktails, a circular saw, crowbars, rocks, frozen water bottles, and spikes—all instruments for conducting offensive actions.

National networks—most notably, Black Lives Matter—link these activities together. Check out the publicly available research on U.S. Crisis Monitor. Its report is actually sympathetic to the protests and is highly critical of U.S. law enforcement. Nevertheless, the data reveal some very disturbing trends.

Black Lives Matter is linked to the vast number of protests throughout the country. That, in itself, is not problematic. Many people and groups went to the streets to march in favor of civil liberties after the death of George Floyd. Yet, as the number of protests declined over the next three months, BLM participation did not, and the number of violent riots (as opposed to nonviolent protests) increased.

Over a three-month period, the report linked Black Lives Matter to 9 out of 10 riots. And there’s a good chance that that’s an undercount.

There’s an ideology behind the Black Lives Matter movement, and it has nothing to do with civil liberties. Indeed, as the organization has received more attention, and its link to an organization that has celebrated the Chinese Revolution and continues to defend China become known, Black Lives Matter attempted to purge Marxist statements that had previously been publicized on its websites.

We are also seeing organized groups conducting aggressive activity on social media to coordinate, promote, and propagandize violent activities.

According to a recent study by the Miller Center at Rutgers University, “We find evidence that both militia and anarchist networks play key roles in the recent social justice protests from controlling perimeters at CHAZ [CHOP] to coordinating nationwide anarchist-inspired violent protests online.”

When it comes to organized street violence, the response of public officials is key. That’s why the violence has mainly been focused on cities where state and local officials have created permissive environments, where it is easier for organized criminal activity to operate.

Portland, Oregon, and Seattle are prime examples. Officials have hamstrung the police and resisted cooperation with federal law enforcement.

And local “rogue” prosecutors have abetted violence by refusing to prosecute rioters and not enforcing law. For years, so-called progressive groups, including those funded by the philanthropist George Soros, have supported political campaigns to secure the election of liberal prosecutors.

In turn, those prosecutors in places like Portland and Seattle have in many cases been refusing to prosecute charges like disorderly conduct.

In Chicago, for example, police arrested more than 100 people after a night of rampant rioting and looting. The prosecutor did not pursue felony charges against anyone.

Finally, far too many journalists and politicians have normalized the acts of violence on our streets. They do this first by ignoring them—typified by the CNN reporter standing in front of a burning building and arguing that protests were “mostly peaceful.” Then they try to shift the blame on the police or the National Guard or Homeland Security or the administration.

And then they try to distance themselves from the issue altogether. As the public has turned decisively against the violence, they have done nothing but make excuses.

Perhaps all these dots are not consciously connected, but in concert they have reinforced and enabled one another. They explain why endemic, inexcusable destruction persists on the streets, and they reveal a serious effort to use violence to advance radical political change in this country.

Trump MUST Up His Game for the Next Debate

President Trump is masterful at his rallies. I’ve never seen anyone work a crowd better. Able to control the microphone, he’s loose, conversational, fluent, interesting, funny and even sometimes charming. He connects with people.

That’s not what he did September 29, however, during the first presidential debate. Many conservatives won’t like hearing this, but Trump underperformed while Joe Biden exceeded the very low expectations set for him. The ex-vice president simply had to show up and not exhibit dementia; the president had to impress. This he did not do. And he can — and must — up his game at the next debate, which also happens to be the last one.

I know, I’ve read the comments by conservatives claiming that Trump was impressive, that he won the contest. They cite certain polls supporting their position just as leftists trumpet polls indicating the opposite. I’m not here to claim that Trump won or lost or which polls are correct, however, because that’s the wrong way to view matters.

One thing you learn as a serious athlete, if you possess some wisdom, is the truth of the saying, “The only person worth feeling superior to is your former self.” If you chalk up a victory but perform terribly, you’ll be left unsatisfied.

At least, however, you do get the same W, and this is true whether you win by a nose or a mile. But with a debating politician, victory margin absolutely matters. Winning by a hair and capturing another, let’s say, one percent of “undecideds” is not as good as a resounding victory that sways another eight percent.

With everything arrayed against President Trump — from Big Tech bias to mainstream media malevolence to rampant vote fraud — he must seize every opportunity and run the table in public appearances. He cannot afford to leave arrows in his quiver.

One major issue is that Trump came off as angry Sept. 29, with his demeanor and frequent interruptions. Yeah, I know what some of you are thinking: “He has a right to be angry!” And with the bias against him, the continual unfair attacks and leftist witch hunts, yes, he does. But here’s the point:

You know why he’s angry. I know why he’s angry.

But the undecided voters largely have no idea.

If they did, they wouldn’t be undecided.

Remember, these people generally aren’t very conversant with the issues and may not pay much attention to politics until shortly before an election, when they may tune in to some news or a presidential debate. Now, put aside the projection — ascribing one’s mindset to others is a common failing — and consider things from their uninformed perspective.

“Why is this man so angry?” they may think. “He seems rude and not very nice.” Sure, it’s not fair. But life’s not fair.

Note here that in a debate, style supersedes substance. The participants make all sorts of claims, and undecided voters largely don’t know who’s telling the truth (again, they wouldn’t be undecided were it otherwise). Image matters most.

I think here of a man I spoke with years ago who didn’t like Barack Obama and his health plan, but who was enamored of Bill Clinton. When I pointed out that the latter was also a nationalized health care proponent, the man replied, “I know. But I like him.”

Yeah, I get it, it’s silly. But that man reflects a large swath of the electorate — and winning elections requires capturing a good portion of their votes.

The point is that many people make decisions, voting decisions in particular, on emotional bases. So you must reach them emotionally. As to this, note that a study years ago found that if a speaker says something well, he’ll sway people almost regardless of his message. Others have observed that the most charismatic candidate tends to win an election even if he has an inferior platform.

Regarding the difference between campaign-rally Trump and Sept. 29-debate Trump, coming to mind is an old interview with late, famed comedian Jackie Gleason. Explaining why he preferred live performances to making movies, he said that a comedian times his jokes based on the audience’s reactions. As to timing them on film sets where you don’t have this luxury, Gleason said, “I’ve never really seen anyone do it well.”

I believe a similar phenomenon explains Trump’s varying performances. At his rallies, the president enjoys huge partisan crowds that cheer and applaud enthusiastically. They not only help him time what he does, but, more significantly, he feeds off their positive energy and directs positive energy back. Note that the president enjoyed the same at the 2016 Republican debates, where there was a vociferous segment of Trump partisans.

Not only are general election debates different, but the September 29th affair was unprecedented: Thanks to COVID paranoia, the room was nearly empty with a small, distant, quiet audience of 80 or 90 people (I didn’t even know they were there). In this situation, your mentality can change: Instead of being influenced by and focusing largely on the audience, you will, if you react instinctively, be influenced by and focus on the only one(s) providing stimuli — your opponent(s).

In Trump’s case, this was Joe Biden with his prevarications and moderator Chris Wallace with his bias. They directed negative energy at the president — and he directed negative energy back.

(To be fair, he also came loaded for bear.)

In fact, Trump’s enemies can use his sensitivity to others’ comments and behavior against him by pushing the right buttons. He absolutely must not let this happen, and the next debate must not be a repeat performance of the first.

So here’s my message to President Trump: Don’t let Biden and the moderator goad you into grouchiness. Cultivate the campaign-rally Trump; if you have to, visualize your millions of supporters cheering and applauding in television-land. You can be aggressive, but do it with charm, wit and a twinkle in your eye. Kill them with cute cleverness.

Lastly, relating to emotion-grabbing substance, emphasize Democrat radicalism. Some undecideds will be decidedly shocked when reminded of plans to dismantle the police and ICE, for abortion up till birth, to put boys in girls’ bathrooms, for free healthcare for illegals, to end deportations even of criminals, for absorbing suburbs into cities, etc.

Oh, and don’t forget to mention Bidengate and to expose the moderator bias.

Mostly, though, remember that image is paramount. It doesn’t matter if the other guy’s the radical if you’re the man who, to the uninformed, seems like one.

Is This Another Reason the FBI Hid the Hunter Biden Laptop?

It didn’t surprise the informed, and understandably a bit cynical, to hear that the FBI sat on Hunter Biden’s laptop instead of seeking justice. The bureau was previously involved in an illegal plot to take down Donald Trump, after all, and its Deep State elements would assuredly love to see Joe Biden succeed him in January. So why would they reveal damning information on their establishment hope? Yet suppressing Huntergate perhaps provided a secondary benefit:

The information could be used against Biden once he was in office.

This wouldn’t be anything new. It’s believed that longtime, legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover used “dirt files” on politicians for leverage; for one thing, it’s said, this enabled him to remain bureau head for as long as he wished. William Sullivan, once the number three official under Hoover, put it this way:

From the moment the director got damning information on a senator, the man would be “right in his pocket.”

So not only could suppressing Huntergate get Biden in office, but then maybe it’s, “Nice presidency you’ve got there, Mr. Biden — I’d hate to see anything happen to it.”

Since the criminality in question could, apparently, put Hunter in prison along with destroying China Joe, the leverage is profound. It could not only be used to control Biden but also his wife, Jill, in the unlikely event she for a time is able to pull off an Edith Wilson (who supposedly ran the show when Woodrow Wilson became incapacitated). She wouldn’t want to see her family’s reputation ruined, after all, and we in addition have to wonder about her level of complicity.

The leverage could also be used to compel a resignation and clear the deck for Kamala Harris, should elevating her be the Deep State’s desire. Besides, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have dirt on her, too. Given what we know about Harris — sleeping her way to the middle, not prosecuting sex abuse cases involving the rich and powerful, etc. — just imagine what we don’t know.

This, ironically, brings us to one of Trump’s strengths. While the Left has been advancing the projection-based narrative that the president is a corrupt man susceptible to blackmail, he has always struck me as the antithesis of that.

Oh, sure, he’ll use the law to his advantage, as he did with eminent domain (which he touted and is wrong about). As for following the law, though, my read on Trump is that he’s as punctilious about that as he is about germs (he’s a famed germaphobe).

And perhaps this is another reason the Deep State wants Trump gone: You can’t have leverage over a man you can’t get dirt on — and you can’t get dirt on a man who’s fanatical about keeping his hands clean.

Wake-Up Suburbia! Soviet/Socialist Inspired Insurrection!

I have already focused your attention on Putin’s old Soviet fraud and his counter-intelligence operations in America, yet, even I was stunned watching how Lenin’s and Stalin’s grandchildren are manufacturing and executing a Socialist Revolution in America. It is a real insurrection and I recalled the design of the KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov. It is the one I have shared with you in at least a dozen of my columns. All the troubles in America today are happening because of his plan, which has been implemented and executed since the 1960s in America. In my columns I named it Andropov’s Operation Barbarossa. The design was a simple one: infiltrate simultaneously the media and all the Security apparatus of America.

Sixty years ago in Russia I heard about his design while talking with my friends from the Law School, who worked in different Russian Security Services, people close to Andropov. I didn’t believe in the project, but just listened to them. Sixty years later I see it in America… The predicate of all current troubles in America are the dysfunctional FBI and Intel who had been missing Russia’s counter-intelligence operations in America for the last decades (perhaps because they have been infiltrated?). The latest revelations show team Obama invented the whole RussiaGate Scandal. “In mid-2016, the FBI got word that Russian intelligence believed Hillary Clinton’s campaign was planning to frame Donald Trump for colluding with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.” Obama’s team allowed the fraud to go forward. I called this corruption the Obama/Putin Conspiracy and published it in my column Watergate 2.0: The KB’s Global Spy Ring, 11.8, 2019.

That is a fact. Yet, for me the fraud was created and produced much earlier by the KGB in 2015. I recognized it in 2017, through watching the Trump/Dossier. It took me a couple of seconds to realize the KGB Falshivka, while three incompetent FBI’s Directors couldn’t or wouldn’t. They didn’t know the modus operandi of the Russian Security apparatus and had missed a massive infiltration of those different agencies into the soil of America and their destructive activities in indoctrinating America’s minds, infiltrating all democratic institutions, businesses, sports, and changing our culture and criteria for moral standards. It was Russia’s counter-intelligence operations aimed at implementing the Stalinist agenda—One World Socialist Government under Kremlin’s rule. Now insurrection is going on with impunity…

Watergate 3.0: Biden’s Family–Mafia Clan

Secret Biden E-Mails were sent to the FBI in 2019. There was no answer. Where is Mr. Wray? In my book Putin is a mortal enemy of Trump and he is using Joe to defeat Trump while the FBI remains silent, subverting our national security. Putin knows the money-family-business, where all family members share money with Joe—a mafia clan. Putin is a devoted disciple of Andropov and the Biden campaign is Putin’s KGB counter-intelligence operation in the realm of Andropov’s Operation Barbarossa. Like many other KGB agents Biden is Putin’s Trojan Horse for Socialism–the vessel for Putin’s KGB working in his campaign and using the Democrat leader to destroy America’s political system and to bankrupt capitalism: To continue the old Stalinist, Socialist/Communist idea to create One Word Socialist Government under the Kremlin rule…

There is no doubt in there being an Obama/Putin conspiracy—Biden has been used by Obama to help Putin to suffocate the young democracy of Ukraine. Putin’s lust for power over Ukraine has no end. With it he will build the Russian Empire again. There is no European Empire of Russia without Ukraine, and the Obama/Putin conspiracy was supposed to change the map of Europe. I was writing about this conspiracy for years. Biden should have been impeached due to the Ukrainian case and his support of Putin. Everything in Biden’s campaign, his advertisements, his cynical lying during the Stephanopoulos Town Hall, and Biden himself is a totally tacit and outrageous FRAUD.

Listen to him, he is not only a compulsive liar, accusing Trump of the crime he himself committed. Biden at the same time plagiarized Trump—A typical Socialist Charlatan-Traitor. Surrounded by Obama’s holdovers, some are KGB agents helping Biden to continue running the coup against Trump today—the agenda is a one-party-system as in Russia and China and as it used to be in the USSR. They are fighting the American Constitutional Republic, the political system left to us by our Founding Fathers. Don’t be surprised by Biden, Trojan Horse Bernie Sanders and George Stephanopoulos. A recent Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing confirming Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court showed two Senators familiar to me. Sen. Cory Booker was running for the U.S. presidency among some 22 other Democratic candidates. I was closely following them all and found out that six of them were sponsored by the KGB, Cory Booker was one of the six. It is not a coincident that Cory Booker tried to engage Judge Amy Coney Barrett in the race discussion mentioning White Supremacy–Andropov’s race card in America. The second is Sen. Kamala Harris. Yes, socialism corrupts everything it touches. From the first I saw Kamala Harris, I didn’t like her: she reminded me of a Soviet apparatchik with her radical hatred and rudeness. Then I found out about her relationship with the Soros family. You have to know the KGB modus operandi to grasp the crux of the matter—the KGB’s tentacles are in the midst of our soil. We are dealing with a well-organized and calculated global Russian counter-intelligence operation in America where Biden is a center-point… There were a lot of Democrats’ cheap-shots against Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who strongly defended freedom of speech and religious freedom. There is more evidence of a crucial infiltration and indoctrination of the minds and souls in America that have been exposed during the hearing. Here is another example:

As Karl Marx rebelled against the divine, he wrote,

“I long to take vengeance on the One Who rules from above. The idea of God is the keynote of a perverted civilization. It must be destroyed.”

And Stalin obliterated the idea of God; by his Purges and Show Trials he annihilated the Russian clergy throughout the country. For your information the Catholic Church in Russia was totally destroyed and ceased to exist. Only a few Catholic churches had survived in Ukraine. When I heard Sen. Feinstein talking about a “Catholic Dogma,” it reminded me of that aspect of Stalinist Russia. It is not a coincidence that I was writing about the death of Truman’s Party and a birth of America’s Socialist Party run by Socialist Charlatans for the last thirty-five years. We are watching the result of their activities now.

Probably you haven’t read my books and columns, where I was constantly warning you about the failed FBI and Intel apparatus and the methods and tactics of the KGB infiltration on America’s soil. As a matter of fact, the KGB doesn’t want the Truth about Russian Security agencies to be exposed and when my first book was published in 2002, the corrupt FBI submitted my name to the FISA Court, which made me a foreign agent in 2002. 10 Counties With Most COVID-19 Deaths Account for 22% of Fatalities but 11% of Population

As Heritage Foundation researchers have demonstrated throughout the pandemic, the spread of COVID-19 in the U.S. has been heavily concentrated in a small number of states—and among a small number of counties within those states.

Heritage’s interactive graphic allows individuals to see more detail on these concentrations of COVID-19 among the counties with the most deaths as well as those with the fewest.

For instance, the graphic allows users to select data from the five counties with the most coronavirus-related deaths all the way up to the 50 counties with the most such deaths. It also allows visitors to select data from counties with zero deaths to counties with 10 deaths or fewer.

As of Oct. 12, the 10 counties with the most COVID-19 deaths account for 22.3% of all related deaths in the U.S. but only 11.2% of the population. The 30 counties with the most coronavirus deaths account for 37.4% of the related deaths in the U.S. and only 19.6% of the U.S. population.

Three of the five counties of New York City, one of the hardest-hit areas in the early stages of the pandemic, still account for three of the five U.S. counties with the most coronavirus deaths. New York City still has a disproportionate effect on the perceived COVID-19 experience in the U.S.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, New York City has a coronavirus death rate of 284 per 100,000; the rest of the state has a rate of 81 per 100,000. The average COVID-19 death rate for the entirety of the U.S. is roughly 65 per 100,000. (For more on how New York City skews COVID-19 data in the U.S., see this Heritage Backgrounder.)

This evidence suggests that as new locations in the U.S. experienced surges in COVID-19 cases throughout this pandemic, death rates remained lower.

Ultimately, several items could be at play, including a different, younger population being infected in many locations, such as Florida, during a surge in the disease. Additionally, better treatment and lessons learned from coping with the pandemic could be part of the lower death rates, including lessons learned in limiting exposure in vulnerable populations, such as the elderly.

Although still tragic, the outlook has improved over the past month.

As of Sept. 4, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation’s model projected that the U.S. would have 400,000 deaths from COVID-19 by Jan. 1, 2021. But as of now, the model has lowered its worst-case scenario to 338,735 deaths by Jan. 1, with its current projection 7% lower at 316,935 deaths.

Even so, to reach that new number by Jan. 1, the average daily death rate from COVID-19 would have to be roughly 1,300. The seven- and 14-day average death rates for the U.S. have not been that high since May 20.

The worst day prior to May 20 saw an average of roughly 2,200 deaths, a figure that falls to 1,659 if New York City is excluded. The worst day since May 20 was a seven-day average of 1,215 on Aug. 1.

Now that COVID-19 testing has increased dramatically and many state and local governments have relaxed stay-at-home orders, it is even more critical to study the trends in deaths along with cases.

To make studying these trends easier, The Heritage Foundation now has two interactive COVID-19 trackers. One tracks trends in cases, the other tracks trends in deaths.

The trackers describe whether the trend of cases—or deaths—is increasing or decreasing over the prior 14 days. They also provide a visual depiction of new cases—or deaths—during this time period.

These tools help put the concentrated nature of the pandemic in perspective with county-level data. They show just how difficult it can be to use only one metric to gauge whether a county—or state—is doing well.

Readers are invited to explore the information in the tracker and check back frequently for updates, as well as to explore the other visual tools on Heritage’s COVID-19 resources page.

More Examples of Election Fraud Prove the Left Is in Denial About It

The 2020 presidential election is less than three weeks away, and many Americans have already voted early or through the mail.

Unfortunately, at the same time that they are exercising their franchise, there are others out there who are taking advantage of the vulnerabilities in our system to try to steal their vote or dilute the value of their vote.

Though many on the left downplay the threats to the security and integrity of the electoral process, such fraud really does occur, jeopardizing free and fair elections for the American people.

The Heritage Election Fraud Database showcases a sampling of close to 1,300 proven instances of election fraud. Yet, many other cases go unreported and other potential cases are not investigated or prosecuted.

There has been a rash of recent arrests around the country. Although those who have been charged are entitled to a presumption of innocence, these cases illustrate the types of fraud that have occurred and can occur that threaten our democratic system.

In New Hampshire, Attorney General Gordon MacDonald announced an indictment against a woman for allegedly voting in the town of Derry during the 2018 general election despite residing in Washington D.C., not New Hampshire.

The indictment says she submitted a false voter registration form and then voted using an absentee ballot.

In Hooksett, New Hampshire, Michael Lewis has been charged with illegally voting in the 2016 general election even though he is a resident of Georgia, where he was arrested at the request of New Hampshire authorities.

The Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, run by registered Democrat Ed Naile, discovered that Lewis used the state’s same-day voter registration law in Hooksett to illegally register and vote.

And those are not the only recent cases from the Granite State.

Vincent Marzello was arrested for voting twice in the 2016 general election in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, once as himself and then again under the name of a woman, Helen Elisabeth Ashley.

In California, a man by the name of Caesar Peter Abutin was charged with three counts of felony voter fraud. Despite Abutin’s mother passing away in 2006, he voted under her name multiple times between October 2012 and November 2014, in addition to casting ballots under his own name.

These cases demonstrate how sometimes it can take years for the evidence in election fraud cases to come to fruition and for the potential fraudsters to face justice.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that election fraud cases often involve absentee ballots.

The danger posed to voters by such ballots, which are voted outside the supervision of election officials and outside the observation of poll watchers in unsecure settings, is shown by a video that has just surfaced from Escondido, California.

A local resident, David Sprouse, filmed an individual walking through his neighborhood last week stealing mail—including absentee ballots—from his home and other houses.

And the Virginia State Board of Elections had to send out a press release warning voters that six Richmond-area mailboxes—which may have contained absentee ballots—were broken into over the first weekend in October.

Other threats to the security of voting by mail are coming to light.

Take Hudson County, New Jersey. A postal worker was arrested for discarding mail after an investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice found more than 1,800 pieces of mail, including 99 absentee ballots, in a dumpster.

Fortunately, these ballots were recovered and forwarded to their intended recipients. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.

Thomas Cooper, a postal worker, pleaded guilty to obscuring, crossing out, and changing at least five party affiliations on absentee ballot request forms back in July during the West Virginia primary.

In Manatee County, Florida, Larry Wiggins, a registered Democrat, was arrested for requesting an absentee ballot for his late wife, who passed away in 2018. Though Wiggins claims he was simply “testing the system,” he is now facing third-degree felony charges.

In Texas, four people, including a Gregg County commissioner, were arrested last month in connection with their alleged involvement in a vote-harvesting scheme that was uncovered by the state Attorney General’s Office.

Commissioner Shannon Brown, Marlena Jackson, Charlie Burns, and DeWayne Ward are facing more than 130 felony charges, including organizing an illegal vote-harvesting scheme, illegal voting, fraudulent use of absentee ballot applications, unlawful possession of absentee ballots, and election fraud in connection with the 2018 general election, which Brown won by only five votes.

Another case out of the Lone Star State involves a mayoral candidate for the city of Carrollton. Zul Mirza Mohamed is alleged to have forged at least 84 voter registration forms for unwitting residents of Denton County, and then obtained absentee ballots in their names without their knowledge using a virtual mailbox and a false identity.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office states that at the time of his arrest, Mohamed was completing more fraudulent mail-in ballot applications.

There are also multiple reports of problems being caused by election officials using inaccurate, error-filled voter registration lists to mail out absentee ballots. Those include:

  • A German journalist who reports that he received three ballots at his residence in Washington, D.C., for the previous tenant, who moved five years ago; the landlady, who now lives in Puerto Rico; and the landlady’s deceased husband.
  • New Jersey residents across the state reporting that they have received absentee ballots for their deceased relatives.
  • Clerical errors that sent 1,400 Virginia voters two mail-in ballots for the general election.
  • Close to 100,000 New York City voters receiving mail-in ballots with incorrect names and addresses.
  • An acquaintance of one of the writers living in Washington, D.C., who received five ballots in the mail—two for him, one for his roommate, and two for individuals who haven’t lived at his address for years. Those ballots can be seen here:

This summary of recent cases doesn’t even cover the 1,000 voters referred to law enforcement officials in Georgia for voting twice in that state’s June primary (once in person and a second time with an absentee ballot); or the former Democratic congressman and erstwhile political consultant indicted in Philadelphia on charges of bribing an election official to stuff the ballot box with fraudulent votes in multiple elections; or the illegal aliens indicted in North Carolina for illegally registering and voting.

While many on the left dismiss these threats and insist that voting by mail has no potential for fraud, or that other types of fraud just don’t happen, these stories continue to break, dispelling that narrative.

These cases should be investigated and prosecuted, and reforms should be initiated that remedy the vulnerabilities in our voter registration and election system that will prevent and deter these types of actions from occurring in the future.

No matter who the American people elect, it should be done in a fair, free, and secure process.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m. Air Force One has touched down in Reno ahead of President Donald’s Trump’s rally in Carson City.

A procession of Nevada’s GOP luminaries have wrapped up the pre-rally formalities, warming up a largely maskless crowd of around 3,000 people patiently awaiting Trump’s arrival in Carson City.

Assembly Minority Leader Robin Titus, R-Wellington, opened Sunday’s proceedings with a prayer for Trump’s recovery from COVID and a swift confirmation for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. Term-limited state Sen. Ben Kieckhefer, R-Reno, then led the pledge of allegiance, before giving way to U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., who urged rallygoers to ignore polls showing Trump trailing Democratic nominee Joe Biden in Nevada.

“I want anybody here who’s seen the media cover a poll showing Trump leading to raise their hand,” Amodei said. “The record should reflect that no hands were raised today in Carson City.”

Ex-Attorney General Adam Laxalt picked up where Amodei left off, telling the crowd that the Nov. 3 election would be “a race for the soul of America.”

“Now’s our chance to get out and vote and make sure we give our president four more years. In 2016, all the polls showed the president wasn’t going to win,” “But as those results came in, in Florida and Pennsylvania, all the sudden, it dawned on everyone this man was going to be president.

“Visualize that for the next 16 days, as we watch Nevada go for Trump.”

Michael McDonald, chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, later took aim at the state’s controversial so-called “ballot harvesting” law. Trump unsuccessfully sued to block that measure, ensuring every active, registered voter in Nevada receives a mail-in ballot ahead of Election Day.

“You have to vote,” McDonald added. “These rallies, these ‘peaceful protests,’ as I call them, are great. … But we have to vote.”

VIDEO: Trump Reads List Of Statues Commission Wants Removed From Washington, D.C. — Then Throws Away Letter

President Donald Trump read a list of statues and monuments that the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission wants removed or relocated then threw the letter away at a Saturday rally in Muskegon, Michigan.

“From the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission. Recommend the federal government remove, relocate the following: Christopher Columbus statue,” Trump said to boos from the crowd.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is a member of the commission that is working with the District of Columbia Facilities and Commemorative Expressions (DCFACES) that stated in a report that it was assessing whether statues and memorials in the city should be removed, relocated or “contextualized” if they identify historical figures who participated in “slavery, systemic racism, mistreatment of, or actions that suppressed equality for, persons of color, women and LGBTQ communities and violation of the DC Human Right Act.”

Trump went through the others affected on the list. “Benjamin Franklin statue, Andrew Jackson — great, great general, really good president, a great general,” Trump continued to more boos from the crowd. “Andrew Jackson, the Battle of New Orleans right … They want to take that statue of Andrew Jackson right away.”

The president next mentioned that the commission wanted to remove the Jefferson Memorial — something Trump said would be “a tough one to take down … I don’t think we’re moving.”

Trump told the cheering crowd that the statues might already have been relocated if he had not objected to it. Trump signed an executive order in June that empowers Attorney General Bill Barr to prosecute any individual or group who “destroys, damages, vandalizes, or desecrates” any statues and monuments on government property.

“I’ll tell you what, if I wasn’t your president last summer, you may have [had] the Jefferson Memorial taken down. It may be down. They weren’t playing games. We weren’t playing games either.”

“OK, here’s the beauty. ‘We want to take down the George Washington memorial’ — the monument — okay. This is the commission, this is what we’re dealing with folks,” Trump said as he let the letter fly away in the breeze.

Rioters gathered in Lafayette Square in late June and attempted to tear down the statue of Jackson and set up a “Black House Autonomous Zone.” They were unsuccessful.

YouTube Bans X22 Report, Red Pill, Q News Corner, and others

In the last few days YouTube has just banned, according to some reports, over 30 more channels. The Winston84 website was built to help people still find these content providers as they are forced to migrate to other platforms. Here are our profiles for some of the banned channels, providing links to the other places their work can be found:

Destroying the Illusion, Lori Colley, Red Pill 78, SGTreport, X22 Report, Q News Corner.

There are many more. Combined, the YouTube videos posted by these 30 or so channels amassed hundreds of millions of views by tens of millions of viewers. Every one of those viewers has been slapped in the face today. How does this help YouTube, or the corporate media they’ve become part of?

What better way to lend credence to the latest conspiracy theory, which claims Osama Bin Laden was not killed in Pakistan? If you want to hear the arguments favoring this new story, to decide for yourself if it is BS, you can’t, because the online channels that promote the theory, or even that merely examine its merits without automatically dismissing it as pure fabrication, are all gone. Meanwhile, a Google search on the words “osama bin laden not killed in pakistan” yields the usual suspects – CNN, Washington Post, CBS, “factcheck.org” and all the rest, vigorously debunking the story.

Simultaneously, the mainstream media is awash with criticism of President Trump, who said “people can decide for themselves” regarding these conspiracy theories. But the President is right. When YouTube censors and shuts down content providers, working in lockstep with the biggest news corporations in the world, it doesn’t end the discussion. It just raises suspicion that maybe there is something to all of this.

The timing is also suspect. Another wave of shutdowns right before the November election. And the Bin Laden story, less believable, providing cover to also squelch the new developments in the Biden/Burisma story, which is very believeable.

The frightening conclusion one has to consider is that there is, mixed within the more outlandish reports and claims, some hidden truths that represent a grave threat to some very powerful special interests. Otherwise they would not give so much publicity to these online rebels by destroying their voice.

New Study Pegs COVID-19 Crisis Costs at $16 Trillion—So Far

The word “lockdown” never appears in the Summers-Cutler study, but the costs are clearly visible.

Estimated costs of the coronavirus pandemic are in. The results are not pretty.

A new study co-authored by Harvard economist David M. Cutler and former World Bank chief economist Lawrence H. Summers places the costs of the COVID-19 pandemic north of $16 trillion.

“The estimated cumulative financial costs of the COVID-19 pandemic related to the lost output and health reduction are shown in the Table,” write Summers and Cutler. “The total cost is estimated at more than $16 trillion, or approximately 90% of the annual gross domestic product of the US.”

As the authors explain, roughly half of the costs stem from the global recession, which was triggered by government-imposed lockdowns around the world. The remainder is the result of economic losses stemming from shorter life spans and health deterioration.

These losses are unprecedented in modern history. According to Summers and Cutler, the costs exponentially exceed previous recessions and recent conflicts in the Middle East and beyond.

“Output losses of this magnitude are immense. The lost output in the Great Recession was only one-quarter as large,” the authors write. “The economic loss is more than twice the total monetary outlay for all the wars the US has fought since September 11, 2001, including those in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.”

It’s a sobering analysis. The numbers are so enormous they are difficult for the human mind to grasp, but they will have very real effects on American families and others around the world.

As the authors point out, the losses translate to about $200,000 for a family of four. These losses will hurt American families, but poor families around the world will be hit even harder. A recent World Bank study estimated that as many as 150 million people around the world will fall into extreme poverty—defined by living on less than $1.90 per day—by 2021.

Cutler and Summers write that “the immense financial loss from COVID-19 suggests a fundamental rethinking of government’s role in pandemic preparation.” They recommend establishing permanent government infrastructure for testing, contact tracing, and isolation of the sick.

This seems, to be kind, misguided. After all, it was the government’s botched response to the pandemic and its proactive role in shutting down society that caused the bulk of the unprecedented economic damage.

It’s important to remember that throughout history humanity has experienced no shortage of pandemics and deadly viruses. Many have noted that the 1957-58 pandemic bears striking similarities to that of 2020. The 1957-58 pandemic claimed the lives of 1.1 million people worldwide (including 116,000 Americans). The case-fatality rate for that pandemic was 0.67, researchers estimate, which is almost certainly higher than that of COVID-19.

Despite the similarities, some of the differences are even more striking. The economic fallout from that pandemic was barely noticeable. (The same can be said of the Spanish Flu of 1918.)

What made the COVID-19 pandemic so unique was not the virus itself, but our collective response to it. In an effort to protect the population from an invisible virus, governments adopted a blueprint for government-enforced social distancing, a plan whose genesis stems from a 14-year-old girl’s science project and a library trip by George W. Bush.

In favor of this approach, the long-standing conventional wisdom of how to mitigate the spread of a deadly virus was abandoned by most nations, and by April dozens of governments around the world had quarantined tens of millions of healthy people and ordered the closure of millions of “non-essential” businesses.

Prior to February 2020, when China ordered the largest mass quarantine in human history, such an action had never been taken. (It’s worth noting that before they became a partisan issue, media organizations such as NPR and the New York Times expressed serious doubts about the strategy of government-imposed quarantines.)

And now we know why: pandemic lockdowns are a strategy born of hubris. The strategy rests on the misguided idea that central planners can create a more perfect social order by removing decision-making from individuals and replacing it with their own top-down mandates.

Economists from Hayek to Mises and beyond have warned that this hubris poses one of the great risks to modern man.

“If man is not to do more harm than good in his efforts to improve the social order, he will have to learn that in this, as in all other fields where essential complexity of an organized kind prevails, he cannot acquire the full knowledge which would make mastery of the events possible,” Hayek noted in his Nobel Prize speech.

“The recognition of the insuperable limits to his knowledge ought indeed to teach the student of society a lesson of humility which should guard him against becoming an accomplice in men’s fatal striving to control society – a striving which makes him not only a tyrant over his fellows, but which may well make him the destroyer of a civilization…,” he continued.

Central planners failed to heed Hayek’s “knowledge problem” warning. In their zeal to control society, they destroyed the global economy on a scale the modern world had never seen.

Somehow, the word “lockdown” never appears in the Summers-Cutler study.

This will not do. If we cannot acknowledge a basic truth—government lockdowns failed—we are bound to make the same mistake again.

Once we have come to grips with this basic truth— one the World Health Organization and some European nations appear to have gleaned—we can begin to rebuild the economy. And the recipe for success is simple: economic freedom.

“In order to reverse this serious setback to development progress and poverty reduction, countries will need to prepare for a different economy post-COVID, by allowing capital, labor, skills, and innovation to move into new businesses and sectors,” World Bank Group President David Malpass writes.

Free markets and free people is the formula for a brighter future in a post-COVID-19 world.
