A Christian Nation … REALLY?

“For those looking for security, be forewarned that there’s nothing more insecure than a political promise.” — Harry Browne

“There is no political solution to a spiritual problem.” — Bonnie Harvey

“Money is the currency of power; power is the currency of politicians.” — Bud Hancock

“Votes don’t decide elections; MONEY decides elections.” — Bud Hancock

“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” — Thomas Jefferson

In discussing the meaning of ‘being a Christian Nation’, we must first decide what the term means. The Merriam-Webster provides these definitions:

Christian:

  • One who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ
  • of or relating to Christianity
  • based on or conforming with Christianity
  • of, relating to, or being a Christian
  • Christian responsibilities
  • professing Christianity

Nation:

  1. a politically organized nationality,
  2. a non-Jewish nationality (Biblically),
  3. a community of people composed of one or more nationalities and possessing a more or less defined territory and government and
  4. a territorial division containing a body of people of one or more nationalities and usually characterized by relatively large size and independent status

Christianity:

  • the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the Bible as sacred scripture, and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic, and Protestant bodies
  • conformity to the Christian religion
  • the practice of Christianity

What IS Christianity, Really?

Even with the dictionary meanings, many questions are left unanswered as to the meaning of Christianity and ‘being a Christian nation’. In the US, if a person attends a ‘Christian’ church, he may regard himself as a Christian, which would be a bit of a stretch since nowhere in the definitions of the word “christian” is church attendance, regular or not, mentioned as being a characteristic of a Christian person. In fact, it has often been said that there are more demons who regularly attend church than humans. Would that attendance then make the demons ‘Christians’? Hardly.

I do not discount the possibility of church attendance being a good and worthwhile action, but the value of the time spent at church services is, or should be, totally dependent on what is heard and seen from those who have been called to be pastors and teachers, shepherds and leaders of the local flock.

I seldom use the word religion when discussing biblical topics because of the bad connotation it has,  based on the behavior and actions of many who claim to be ‘Christian’. The word ‘religion’ as defined by Dictionary.com is:

  • a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs
  • a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects
  • the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices
  • something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience

Church Attendance and Religion

I have some serious concerns that many people only consider church attendance data when trying to determine whether a nation is considered to be truly Christian, or not.

I remember that the churches I attended even as a young boy were careful to post the Sunday attendance numbers along with the tithes and offerings in a prominent place in the church sanctuary and when a “new record attendance number” was reached, much ado was made of it. Most people tend to associate the practice of ‘religion’ with regular church attendance and the paying of tithes or giving of ‘offerings’ to a church rather than  what the Bible says of religion. For some, the amount of offerings and tithes posted on that board could be a measure of the religion they espouse and hold to.

This statement can be attributed to the Jews of Israel in the time of Jesus when, on a certain occasion, He was visiting the Jewish Temple, sitting opposite the treasury observing the many worshippers who entered the Temple and deposited their money, the rich putting in large sums. But Jesus was moved to speak when He observed the poor widow who cast in two mites (one farthing), and knowing that her money represented all that she had, He stated that her offering was “more than all they which have cast into the treasury” (Mark 12:38-44 KJV).

Which of the Jewish worshippers, the poor widow, or all the wealthy, showed true religion?

Consider the ‘Model’ for a Christian

Contrary to many people’s individual belief, The word Christ is NOT the last name of Jesus. The word Christ is a transliteration of the Greek word, Christos (Strong’s 5547, pronounced Khris-tos’) and it has a meaning taken from the word Messiah, an English transliteration of the Greek word, ‘messias’ (Strong’s 3323, pronounced mess-see’-as, which coincides with the English word ‘messiah’, a transliteration of the Hebrew word mashiyach (Strong’s 4899, pronounced maw-shee’-yach)  which means ‘anointed’ and usually indicates a king or priest. Thus, the word that follows Jesus name is more of a description of what Jesus was and what His appearance on earth was meant to accomplish. The words ‘Jesus’ and ‘Christ’ put together literally means Jesus, the One anointed by God.  Read Isaiah 61:1-2 which is a prophecy of the appearing of the coming Messiah, the One Anointed; then read Luke 4:16-20 where Jesus completely fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah 61:1-2

The point here is that Jesus was the one sent by God into a flesh and blood world, in a flesh and blood body and having emptied himself (‘made himself of no reputation’, Philippians 2:7 KJV; ‘emptied himself’, Philippians 2:7 ESV) and walked this earth as a man just like any other flesh and blood man. Jesus performed great miracles and did many great and might works totally by and through the powerful anointing that came upon Him when He was baptized by John in the Jordan River.

The model for all who claim to be Christian (transliteration of the Greek word ‘Christianos’ (Strong’s 5546, pronounced khris-tee-an-os’, which means ‘followers of Christ’) is the same Jesus Who did mighty miracles of healing, even raising the dead, while walking as a flesh and blood man under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

It then stands to reason that, if a person claims to be a follower of Christ (The anointed One), he would be expected to do the same works that Jesus, the Christ, the One Anointed, did and even greater works (John 14:12 KJV) according to Jesus Himself.  This indeed sets a high standard for a person, and especially a nation, to be called Christian. I am nearly eighty years of age and I will admit that I have only seen a few works of miraculous healing during that time and one of them was on my own body.

If the United States were truly a “Christian nation” with as many people claiming to be Christian walking around should we not expect to see a multitude of miraculous healings and not a few being raised from the dead? I now fear that the words “Christian Nation” have become a byword for all who, instead of doing the works connected to true Christianity use them to make themselves ‘feel better’ about their own lives, most of which exhibit no anointing of The Holy Spirit.

James, the half-brother of Jesus, the Christ, the One Anointed, exhorted those to whom he wrote: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:22-25 KJV).

One expositor stated that James is comparing the word of God to a mirror wherein a man can observe his own actions and deeds and, continuing to observe and make every effort to conform to the word by allowing it to transform the image he sees to one that pleases God, (Romans 12:1-2 KJV), he can be a blessed man and will bless others in the process.

Conclusion

Having grown up with Jesus, his ‘big brother’, and closely observing the words and deeds of Jesus, James fully understood what it meant to be ‘Christian, a follower of Christ’. Using the words penned by James, I must conclude that any person who still blindly claims the US is a Christian nation has looked into the mirror without seeing the faults and blemishes the mirror plainly  shows has decided to continue using the ‘Christian Nation’ byword as a ‘feel good’ therapy with no concern about the real meaning of being a Christian or a Christian nation.

James also said in James 1:26-27,  If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

There was a time when most of the rest of the world respected this nation and indeed considered the US to be a Christian Nation. But former president Barack Obama stated in June 2007, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just.  We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.”

As much as I hate to agree with anything Obama ever said, he spoke the truth in those words, and shamefully, we have now become a nation that is far less Christian than when they were spoken. As a result,  the US is now facing the total loss of the blessings promised in Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance”.

I have become a person who now places absolutely no confidence in man or his ability to make himself or his nation better without the anointing that Jesus had when he walked the earth. Until that anointing, the presence of The Holy Spirit of God, is invited back into our nation, no amount of “claiming to be a Christian Nation” will have any meaning other than as a political catchphrase or an empty ‘feel-good’ byword.

In 2022, the IRS Went After the Very Poorest Taxpayers

By: Liz Wolfe, Reason Magazine, January 5, 2023: (thanks to Van):

Despite $80 billion in new funding, the agency is living up to its reputation of hassling low-income taxpayers over rich people.

On Wednesday, Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) released data provided to it by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on audits performed by the agency in fiscal year 2022. Despite the infusion of new funding earmarked for the IRS via last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, the agency continued historic trends of hassling primarily low-income taxpayers, with relatively few millionaires and billionaires getting caught up in the audit sweep.

“The taxpayer class with unbelievably high audit rates—five and a half times virtually everyone else—were low-income wage-earners taking the earned income tax credit,” reported TRAC, noting that the poorest taxpayers are “easy marks in an era when IRS increasingly relies upon correspondence audits yet doesn’t have the resources to assist taxpayers or answer their questions.”

In fact, “if one ignores the fiction of auditing a millionaire through simply sending a letter through the mail, the odds that millionaires received a regular audit by a revenue agent (1.1%) was actually less than the audit rate of the targeted lowest income wage-earners whose audit rate was 1.27 percent!”

The Inflation Reduction Act, passed in August 2022, directed $80 billion worth of new funding over the next decade to the IRS so it could hire 87,000 new workers, purportedly to better target millionaire and billionaire scofflaws. The Biden administration and credulous journalists claimed that this would in no way increase audits for those making under $400,000 annually—suspect assurances not provided within the text of the actual bill. This increased capacity meant only those at the top would be targeted, supporters insisted. But this ignores how the IRS’s incentives work and how agencywide reform might be too heavy of a lift.

Correspondence audits—which are conducted via mail, and are the type frequently used when interacting with the poorest of taxpayers—are much easier and cheaper to conduct than other types of audits. Plus, the earned income tax credit is easy to get wrong. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that new hires with experience in the field will take almost three years of ramp-up time, with more junior new hires taking longer. The lag time between 2022’s infusion of funding, and legitimately increased capacity, will be enormous—if the agency can even snag the best in the industry when TurboTax and H&R Block will surely be swelling their own ranks. It makes sense that, given a dearth of experienced auditors not likely to be fixed soon, the agency would rely on the easiest and least time-consuming types of audits.

But be suspicious of the idea that an infusion of cash will solve longstanding problems within the IRS. This is, after all, the agency that sent $1.1 billion in child welfare payments to the wrong people over the course of merely five months during the pandemic. It’s the agency that was hacked back in 2015, resulting in the personal information of more than 700,000 taxpayers being compromised. It’s the agency that has been foolishly going after Americans who hold $10,000 or more in a foreign bank since 2010, never mind the fact that many of them are middle-class expats, not folks with yachts in the Mediterranean. And it’s the (leaky) agency that enabled the richest Americans’ intimate financial information to be thumbed through by ProPublica readers. It will take more than a little cash to fix all this, and, as the IRS’s competence and tenacity increase, so too will the tenacity of the vast infrastructure of accountants and lawyers hired by the rich to creatively minimize their tax burdens.

Here’s What Concessions Were Made in Battle for Speaker of the House

We shall see, won’t we? But huge props to the Freedom Caucus for getting it done.

Newly elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had to make numerous concessions to win over a holdout group of populist Republicans in order to secure their votes. Here are the key concessions McCarthy had to make, including what some Republican strategists say is the key one—allowing just one member to move to vacate the speaker’s chair, giving McCarthy a fragile grip on power.

In a 20-minute speech following the vote, McCarthy laid out his priorities for the 118th Congress, including securing the southern border, combating “woke” indoctrination in American schools, and unleashing domestic energy production.

The House now plans to vote on a hefty rules package, which includes a series of concessions that the 20 holdout Republicans pushed for.

Some GOP strategists hailed the rule changes as a major win for the House Republicans Conference—the party caucus for Republicans in the House of Representatives—saying it marks the first time in decades that they have independent authority from leadership.

McCarthy’s road to the gavel was rocky, involving 14 rounds of failed votes before the 15th round brought victory. In order to secure the support of the holdout Republicans, McCarthy had to offer a series of concessions.

Republican strategists say the key concession is found in subsection “q” of the new House rules package (pdf). It reinstates a centuries-old rule allowing just one member to move to vacate the speaker’s position.

Such a motion would be made via a so-called “privileged resolution,” which supersedes all other business except adjournment.

“Anyone, anywhere, any time,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said on Thursday on Capitol Hill, commenting about the power this concession grants to members to try and oust their speaker in a vote of no confidence.

Were this motion to be invoked, McCarthy would need a majority of 218 votes to remain as House speaker.

“This effectively neuters McCarthy

“This might be one of the biggest conservative victories since @DaveBratVA7th,” she added, referring to former Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.), who in 2014 as a Tea Party-backed economics professor delivered a major shock to establishment Republicans by defeating then House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) in a primary, with Brat hammering him as soft on immigration.

While the move-to-vacate concession has received perhaps the most attention, members of the Freedom Caucus—of which most of the holdout Republicans are members—won another major compromise in the form of more seats on key committees.

Freedom Caucus Representation on Rules Committee

McCarthy has committed to giving members of the Freedom Caucus more seats on the powerful House Rules Committee.

The committee exerts tremendous power in Congress by setting the terms of debate, deciding what amendments can be added to draft legislation, and determining what gets sent to the floor—or blocked.

The Rules panel usually operates as a tool of the speaker but with more representation, conservatives will gain the ability not only to help bring key amendments to the floor on their priority issues—like government spending or abortion—but they’ll also have more opportunities to have their voices heard.

It’s unclear how many seats on the 13-member Rules panel will be given to Freedom Caucus members, with Time reporting that it’s four, though it did not cite a source, while Politico reported it’s three, citing anonymous sources.

In recent Congresses, the majority party held nine seats on the panel and the minority four.

The incoming chair of the Rules Committee, Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) told Politico that “we’ve had plenty of Freedom Caucus members before” and that “we’ll be fine.”

Overall, McCarthy agreed to a number of reforms in House procedures that empower the rank-and-file members and reduce the power of the speaker.

Hard Line on Debt Limit

Another of McCarthy’s high-profile concessions to conservatives contained in the draft rules package involves agreeing to replace the current “pay-as-you-go” requirements with a “cut-as-you-go” measure.

This would prohibit the consideration of legislation that increases mandatory spending within a five-year or ten-year budget window.

The draft rules package also repeals the so-called “Gephardt Rule,” setting up a separate vote on the debt limit. Currently, with the rule in place, the House automatically sends a joint resolution to raise the debt ceiling when the House adopts a budget package, with the change giving conservatives more scope to push for reduced spending.

“They’re going to say that unless they have very steep spending cuts in domestic programs … they won’t vote for it,” Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) told The Independent.

Republicans are still reeling from last month’s passage of the mammoth $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill, with many objecting to both the price tag and process, with Freedom Caucus members expressing the most vehement opposition.

Spending Reduction

Two other budgetary measures in the draft rules package involve restoring a point of order against a net increase in budget authority for amendments to general appropriations bills and restoring a point of order against budget reconciliation directives that raise net direct spending.

The draft rules package also restores a requirement for a three-fifths supermajority (from a simple majority) vote on increasing the tax rate, another win for conservatives who oppose Washington’s freewheeling tax-and-spend initiatives.

Another measure involves provisions for spending reduction account transfer amendments and requires all general appropriations bills to have spending reduction account sections.

Other concessions include one that would require 72 hours before a bill could come up for a vote and establishes several panels to investigate various issues of concern, including setting up a subcommittee on “weaponization” of the federal government.

The proposal for the subcommittee comes after Republicans recently signaled that they want a top-to-bottom investigation of the FBI after the so-called “Twitter Files” disclosed that the agency pressured Twitter to censor Americans’ free speech.

Before the rules package can be voted on, the process requires that members are first sworn in.

“If McCarthy tries to back out of any concession, he won’t have the votes for any rules package and we’re back to a stall. Congress can’t move without a rules package affirmed,” Ellis said in a post on Twitter.

“Bottom line: With this rules package, the 20 have achieved an historic accountability oversight and check on leadership and the Speaker’s power,” she continued. “I would consider this a TOTAL WIN for Gaetz & Co, the MAGA movement, and therefore America. Declare victory and let’s get to work!”

Attorney Jenna Ellis, who represented the 2020 Trump campaign, said in a post on Twitter.

Rep. Andrew Ogles Reveals What Concessions Were Made in Battle for Speaker of the House

By: The Epoch Times, January 7, 2023:

Although not yet sworn in, first-year Congressman Andrew Ogles from the Tennessee Fifth District found himself in the middle of a historic maelstrom when he arrived in Washington on Dec. 31, 2022, in the company of his family.

But Ogles knew a bit of what he was getting into because he had already become a member of the Freedom Caucus and was already involved in the ongoing negotiations that, as of this writing, seem to have vastly reformed the way the U.S. Congress will do business in exchange for allowing Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to become Speaker.

Ogles should be known to many Epoch Times readers for his participation in the unique primary debate—using domain experts instead of journalists to ask the questions—sponsored by this company in concert with the Nashville Republican Women.

Little did we know, nor probably did he, that Ogles would end up being one of the 20 to instigate this monumental change they say will return the Congress to the original intention of the Founders as The People’s House.

I spoke with Ogles by phone the night of Jan. 6, 2023, before the roll call vote during which, it was said, two of the remaining rejectionists who couldn’t accept McCarthy personally would absent themselves so that the magic number would be lowered and the new Speaker could go over the top.

Apropos, Ogles informed me that what many had guessed was true. His absence from voting in a previous round was also planned. He waited to see that all was going according to plan before stepping forward to flip his vote to McCarthy after the initial round.

For Ogles, the basis of all the negotiations was to establish the rules of the game in Congress that had been altered over the years beyond recognition. As he pointed out, the rules of a game almost always determine the winner.

He shared with me a list of some of what has been roughly negotiated to date. The devil, as always, is in the details.

  1. As has been reported, it will only take a single congressperson, acting in what is known as a Jeffersonian Motion, to move to remove the Speaker if he or she goes back on their word or policy agenda.
  2. A “Church” style committee will be convened to look into the weaponization of the FBI and other government organizations (presumably the CIA, the subject of the original Church Committee) against the American people.
  3. Term limits will be put up for a vote.
  4. Bills presented to Congress will be single subject, not omnibus with all the attendant earmarks, and there will be a 72-hour minimum period to read them.
  5. The Texas Border Plan will be put before Congress. From The Hill: “The four-pronged plan aims to ‘Complete Physical Border Infrastructure,’ ‘Fix Border Enforcement Policies,’ ‘Enforce our Laws in the Interior’ and ‘Target Cartels & Criminal Organizations.’”
  6. COVID mandates will be ended as will all funding for them, including so-called “emergency funding.”
  7. Budget bills would stop the endless increases in the debt ceiling and hold the Senate accountable for the same.

That’s all Ogles would tell me for now, but there is undoubtedly more in ongoing negotiations that could continue even after the final Speaker vote. No word, from him anyway, on committee assignments or agreements, although there are discussions on positions for Freedom Caucus members. Ogles did acknowledge his own interest in the Financial Services Committee, due to his economic background, or the Judiciary Committee.

No word either, so far, of a different kind of Jan. 6 investigation, unless that is intended to be wrapped into the new “Church” Committee.

I asked Ogles if there would be bad blood, as many are warning, after these days of heated negotiation. He denied it. The Republican majority, he said, was too small to afford that, and they all knew it.

Knowing human nature, I wouldn’t have completely believed him on that one had I not heard the resounding and welcoming applause given for every flipped vote. Many of those who voted for McCarthy were one hundred percent in favor of the changes negotiated by the 20, who may well be rewarded in the history books for their initiative.

What has been going on is being referred to as “chaos” by Democrats and the media, including, regrettably, many at Fox News and other supposedly right-leaning outlets. Still, others claim this has been a victory for the “extreme right, imposing their views.”

McCarthy’s Concessions to Freedom Caucus and What They Mean

Kevin McCarthy Elected Speaker After Making Major Concessions To Freedom Caucus On 15th Vote After Extraordinary Fight on House Floor

Freedom Caucus Agreement v McCarthy

I was taught early in college as I created Young Republican groups in three cities within northern Arizona, there comes a time when negotiations require delicate work, conversation versus shouting, actual protecting a person’s heart without sacrificing integrity and principles our Forefathers laid out for us to follow. It is most possible, but requires careful navigating to create a “win/win” outcome. The Art of Negotiations is just that, an art. It is not a science, it can be delicate and even cumbersome but with a clear conscience to maintain integrity, sustain our given freedoms and privileges, not deviate from the foundations for which our founders laid and so very many have paid the ultimate sacrifice to maintain, negotiations for a “win/win” are not impossible, quite the opposite.

Of course I do not know the conversations held, the agreements made, the concessions worked-out, and the egos needing to be massaged in accordance with the negotiations to make Kevin McCarthy Speaker of the House of Representatives. But I was sent the below information as at least a portion of the agreement reached to allow McCarthy to assume the Speaker’s Chair in Congress. I thought you might like to learn a bit from behind the curtain.

  • It will only take a single Congressperson, acting in what is known as a Jeffersonian Motion, to move to remove the Speaker if he or she goes back on their word or policy agenda.
  • A “Church” style committee will be convened to look into the weaponization of the FBI and other government organizations (presumably the CIA, the subject of the original Church Committee) against the American people.
  • Term limits will be put up for a vote.
  • Bills presented to Congress will be single subject, not omnibus with all the attendant earmarks, and there will be a 72-hour minimum period to read them.
  • The Texas Border Plan will be put before Congress. From The Hill: “The four-pronged plan aims to ‘Complete Physical Border Infrastructure,’ ‘Fix Border Enforcement Policies,’ ‘Enforce our Laws in the Interior’ and ‘Target Cartels & Criminal Organizations.’”
  • COVID mandates will be ended as will all funding for them, including so-called “emergency funding.”
  • Budget bills would stop the endless increases in the debt ceiling and hold the Senate accountable for the same.

So, a new Speaker of the House of Representatives has been accomplished. He claims under his watch Congress will not engage in business as usual but move appropriately, calmly but without delay in any fashion, to bring about serious corrections to acts that have deliberately eroded our freedoms, moved us away from our beloved Constitution, created terribly serious economic conditions, and created an establishment where a “Una-party” functions for their own interest and not in the interest of the American People.

Let us pray the aforesaid conditions are enforced, and we have a congress more than ready to turn our Ship of State around as we are headed directly into an iceberg at full speed which will destroy us!

Psychologist Ordered To Undergo Re-Education

Criticism of Justin Trudeau, the dictator of Canada, may sound like a lot of fun – but not for Dr. Jordan Peterson, a clinical psychologist, best-selling author, and professor emeritus at the University of Toronto.

Peterson has been told he must submit to “re-education” and social reconditioning after criticizing comrade Trudeau’s Covid-19 travel ban as “‘unconstitutional and vindictive.”

Peterson has dared to speak the truth, including truth-isms like men can never become women just by surgically removing their breasts and taking testosterone – as actress Ellen Page, now calling herself Elliot Page, did in 2020.

Peterson was kicked off Twitter for refusing to use Ellen/Elliott’s new pronouns and not acknowledging that she’s a man – because, of course, she’s not.

Peterson revealed that he has been ordered to undergo six months of coaching to “refine his social media etiquette” and to help him “review, reflect on, and ameliorate (his) professionalism in public statements.”

Peterson first gained prominence in 2016 when he publicly refused to participate in proposed Canadian legislation, which has since become law, that bans “discrimination” based on gender identity or gender expression. His crime was refusing to give in to “compelled speech” that required him to use improper pronouns.

In 2019, as a consequence, Cambridge University withdrew Peterson’s fellowship. In 2020 Penguin Random House in Canada attempted to block the publication of his book, calling him an “icon of white supremacy and hate speech.”

Peterson has endured almost as much bad press and attacks from the cancel culture as Donald Trump. Still, like Trump, he continues to fight on and refuses to bow to the mob. Peterson has a lot on the line, but we hope he refuses to participate in his university’s latest charade.

American conservatives have, and will continue to, welcome him with open arms.

God said what? Come on!

You might not have noticed this is the biblical creation story, but God created gender fluidity in the Garden of Eden.

Just kidding, Lord – please don’t smite me for uttering this heresy.

Yet that’s the conclusion reached by the first “non-binary gender-queer” Anglican priest in the U.K., the Rev. Bingo Allison of the Diocese of Liverpool.

Rev. Bingo (Bingo?) recently quoted the Bible: “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them,” then added that this passage from Genesis clearly expresses “maleness to femaleness” instead of separate men and women.

Rev. Bingo asserts that this interpretation gives him the authority to promote the “normalization” of gender-fluid behavior in children.

“One of the biggest things is … normalizing it for children,” says Rev. Bingo. “When I’m wearing my collar, it lets children know that it’s OK and that there is a place in church and the outside world for people like me.”

People like Bingo? He’s a dude wearing a clerical collar, bizarre makeup, fake (or maybe surgically enhanced) breasts, and long stringy hair. Oh, and he’s got a receding hairline. I doubt any children want to be like Rev. Bingo.

He said his revelation about the creation of gender fluidity was “a deepening spiritual experience” that God is using to “guide me into this new truth about myself.”

In a sermon commemorating Trans Day of Visibility, Rev. Bingo likened the plight of transgender people to the suffering of Christian martyrs.

Ok, enough of this drivel. The biggest sin here is not just Rev. Bingo’s blasphemy against God. It’s the Church of England that allows a mentally disturbed man to continue in his position. The church is also considering a proposal to allow gay weddings.

God is not dead, as some have said … but the church that once worshipped Him in truth is in its death throes.

Great American Family Network Is Bad News For The Hallmark Channel

If anyone needed evidence that the majority of Americans are sick up to here with the woke agenda dished out by mainstream T.V., look no further than the Great American Family Network (GAF).

This week the network – which launched less than a year ago as a breakaway and competitor to the Hallmark Channel – announced that it ranked number one in total day ratings growth in households, up 113%, and in total viewership, up 116%, according to the Nielsen ratings. It also came first in primetime rating growth for households, up 128%.

Why is this Hallmark knock-off channel gaining so much viewership? The main reason is its wholesome faith and family programming and its departure from Hallmark’s gay-friendly programming, which has been turning away viewers for the past several years.

Candace Cameron Bure, one of the biggest stars of Hallmark, jumped ship last year and moved to GAF. She came under fire recently for daring to note that GAF would focus on “traditional marriage.” The predictable hell storm erupted and is still swirling around an unperturbed Bure, who is happily acting and producing at GAF.

During the December Christmas programming, Hallmark further turned off viewers with its first Christmas story focusing on a gay couple, called “The Holiday Sitter.” It tells the heartwarming story of Sam, who babysits his niece and nephew before the holidays, and finds unexpected romance when he recruits handsome neighbor Jason to help.

Did I say heartwarming? Sorry, I meant heartburn-inducing.

Hallmark may have made the biggest mistake of its previously saccharine life by deciding to pander to the homosexual lobby, which makes up a small minority of viewers while thumbing its nose at the millions of viewers who always flocked to Hallmark for family-friendly viewing.

We wonder, though, will Hallmark regret its gay programming decision enough to go back to its roots? It’s doubtful … but they’re probably squirming right now with the release of the latest Nielsen ratings.

Number Of Children Chemically Castrated Has Doubled Since 2017

Everything seems to be skyrocketing these days – inflation, housing costs, interest rates, and illegal migrants flowing over the border.

But this statistic is truly alarming:

The number of American children subjected to ghoulish chemical castration and genital mutilation has doubled since 2017.

And since the data comes from insurance reports, the actual number could be much, much higher.

The criminal U.S. doctors performing chemical and real castrations, genital mutilation, and other disfiguring surgeries on children should be prosecuted for child abuse.

This is happening at a time when other nations in western Europe are wisely beginning to question these surgeries. They are now reverting to the time-honored psychotherapeutic approaches for treating vulnerable young people who are purposely confused by an evil gender-twisting industry bent on destroying young lives.

Appallingly, criminal surgeons amputated the healthy breasts of 238 gender-confused teenage girls in 2019 and 282 in 2021.

Predictably, Democrat-run states saw considerably sharper spikes, with diagnoses of gender dysphoria doubling in California and quadrupling in New York.

It’s appropriate that these medical atrocities are spawning malpractice lawsuits in the U.S. as young people realize the horrors inflicted on them at the hands of abusive adults who should know better.

But there isn’t a lawsuit in the world that can compensate for the surgical removal of a young girl’s breasts or a young man’s genitals. So their futures, in addition to their body parts, have been forever destroyed.

BREAKING: First Age Verification Bill in the U.S. Goes into Effect!

On January 1st, history was made when the first law in the U.S. requiring pornography sites to verify the age of users, and therefore prevent children from being exposed to pornography, went into effect. House Bill 142 (now Act 440), passed in Louisiana, was sponsored by Rep. Laurie Schlegel with bipartisan support.

Passage of HB 142 is a momentous victory. While U.S. law has long held that pornography must not be distributed to individuals under 18-years-old, until now, this principle has not been applied in the online world.

Although pornography vendors are required to ask for ID of anyone purchasing a pornographic magazine or DVD, there was previously nothing holding pornography websites accountable to verify the age of online users. Online, any child could access hardcore pornography that depicts violent and discriminatory acts.

This contradiction between pornography regulation in the online and offline worlds is a baffling and unacceptable gap in U.S. law – and Louisiana has stepped up as the first state to resolve it!

Age Verification is Not a Threat to Personal Privacy

A common concern raised about the Louisiana age verification law, and age verification legislation in general, is that it is supposedly a threat to the personal privacy of adult pornography consumers. Not true.

Robust methods for online age verification exist which are very adept at safeguarding personal privacy. The new law explicitly states that websites and third parties which perform age verification “shall not retain any identifying information of the individual after access has been granted to the material.” No data about the user is kept, except for the single fact that she or he is over age 18.

Louisiana has implemented digital identity technology that allows verifiers to accurately identify the age of an individual, while allowing the individual to remain in control of what data she or he shares.

HB 142 does not prescribe a single age verification method but leaves it open to any reasonable method that meets a set of minimum standards, whether it be an in-state or out-of-state product. Therefore, the law is not burdensome for businesses and does not violate the dormant commerce clause. The requirement is the same for any website that targets Louisiana consumers and is similar to age verification required for online alcohol sales or gambling.

One example of a method that does not require ID is technology that estimates age based on the biometrics of the user’s face. The technology is different from facial recognition – it does not identify the face; the sole function is the estimation of age. The image or the biometrics of the face are not stored. This method is therefore analogous to a cashier judging by a customer’s appearance whether she or he is over 18.

There are also age verification methods which employ in-person verification, so that it is the same as having one’s age verified in a shop. For example, in France, an individual can go to the local corner store, present an ID, then receive a token that can be used to access age-restricted websites (including but not limited to pornography websites). The token is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

NCOSE’s Public Policy Team and Law Center assisted Louisiana legislators by providing a legal analysis of HB 142 to ensure it passed Constitutional muster by appropriately safeguarding privacy and not placing undue burden on the adult user or on the business.

Why Age Verification is Important: Scientifically Proven Harms of Underage Pornography Exposure

Age verification legislation is crucial, considering that pornography has been linked to a variety of mental, social, and sexual harms to adolescents.

Several studies demonstrate pornography consumption is associated with both verbal and physical sexual aggression among adolescents. It has also been linked to more sexist attitudes and gender-stereotypical sexual beliefs.

Adolescent pornography consumption is associated with poor self-image, increased insecuritylower life satisfaction, psychosomatic symptoms, depressive symptomssuicidal ideation, and suicide attempts.

Pornography does not depict safe sex practices and research has found that adolescent pornography consumption is associated with having unprotected sex, among other risky sexual behaviors.

Beyond Louisiana: The Need for Federal Age Verification Legislation

We could not be more thrilled at the ground-breaking passage of HB 142, now Act 440. We hope to see similar age verification legislation passed at the federal level!

In the 117th Congressional session, Senator Mike Lee introduced a federal age verification bill, called the Shielding Children’s Retinas from Egregious Exposure on the Net (SCREEN) Act. This is the first time a federal age verification bill has been introduced in the U.S.

Slowly but surely, legislators are realizing the extensive harms that widespread accessibility to internet pornography poses to our children and are pursuing real solutions!

Tech Companies Continue Massive Layoffs, Amazon Announces 18,000 Job Cuts

The labor figures coming out of the Biden government are pure fiction (like every thing coming out of this treacherous regime). The unemployment rate, for example, is artificially depressed by excluding people who stopped searching for a job. Everything they say is a lie. Look around, use your eyes and your brain and think.

WHAT IS THE REAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE?

But the job market outlook is more complicated than that, because the headline unemployment figure is artificially depressed by excluding people who might only be earning a few dollars a week, but who want to find full-time work. It also does not encompass any workers who have stopped searching for a job because they are discouraged or caring for a child.

The Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity shows the “true rate of unemployment” is much higher than those government figures suggest.

A labor market metric developed by researchers at the institute evaluates workers who they consider “functionally unemployed” – individuals who are looking for work and do not currently have a full-time job, but want one, or who do not earn a living wage, which is roughly $20,000 annually before taxes. In April, about 23.1% of the labor market was functionally unemployed.

That is still in line with pre-pandemic levels: According to the Institute, which was founded by former U.S. Comptroller of the Currency Gene Ludwig, the true level of unemployment in February 2020 was about 24.5%.

The figures are even higher for Americans of color. The true unemployment rate is about 26.5% for Black Americans and 25.7% for Hispanic Americans. By comparison, White Americans have a true unemployment rate of 22%. (FOX Business)

Amazon Announces 18,000 Job Cuts

Amazon informed staff on Wednesday that it plans to cut 18,000 jobs amid slowing consumer and corporate spending.

The cuts include workforce reductions already announced in November. The company had previously flagged that it would make additional cuts this year.

Tech Companies Continue Massive Layoffs

Wall Street Journal: Amazon layoffs will affect more than 17,000 employees, a higher number than the company initially planned and one that would represent the most reductions revealed so far during a wave of cutbacks at major technology companies, according to people familiar with the matter. The Seattle-based company in November said that it was beginning layoffs among its corporate workforce, with cuts concentrated on its devices business, recruiting and retail operations (Wall Street Journal). CNBC: Salesforce said Wednesday that it is slashing 10% of its staff and curtailing office space. The cloud-based software firm had over 79,000 employees as of December. The layoffs, part of a broader restructuring plan at Salesforce, are the company’s latest headcount reductions after it let go of hundreds of employees in November (CNBC).

America’s Systemic Racism Problem Is Mostly In Woke Education Bureaucracies

America’s Systemic Racism Problem Is Mostly In Woke, Anti-Asian Education Bureaucracies

By: Helen Raleigh, The Federalist, January 06, 2023

Public school officials caused harm to Asian students’ college applications by not notifying them of important academic achievements.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin began 2023 by asking the state’s Attorney General Jason Miyares to investigate the allegation that officials at Thomas Jefferson High School (TJ) intentionally withheld notifications of National Merit awards from the school’s students and families (most of them are Asians) in the name of “equity” and “inclusion.”

Asra Q. Nomani, a human rights activist and a proud mom of a TJ graduate, broke the latest scandal at the school right before Christmas. According to Nomani, the scandal was initially uncovered by another TJ mom, Shawna Yashar, whose son took the PSAT test. He was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation “as a Commended Student in the top 3 percent nationwide — one of about 50,000 students earning that distinction.” It was the kind of honor that would have helped his applications for colleges and scholarships last fall had the TJ officials not withheld his award announcement. When the TJ officials eventually notified him of his award, the deadline for his college applications had already passed, which rendered the award useless.

Nomani learned that her son, a graduate of TJ’s class of 2021, was never told by school officials that he was a “Commended Student” in 2020. Even more infuriating is that these two young men’s experiences were not the result of some honest one-time mistake.

Nomani discovered that “the principal, Ann Bonitatibus, and the director of student services, Brandon Kosatka, have been withholding this information from families and the public for years, affecting the lives of at least 1,200 students over the principal’s tenure of five years.” These officials’ actions (or inactions) disproportionally hurt Asian students because the majority of the school’s student body is Asian. By intentionally withholding awards and eventually delivering them late and in a low-key way, these officials robbed the students and their families of chances to celebrate hard-earned achievements.

In addition, these officials caused undue harm to these students’ college applications and scholarships. For some first-generation immigrants with no other financial resources to fall back on, the damage caused by these school officials’ actions could have a lifetime effect, with some students having to settle for less prestigious colleges or be forced to take out more student loans.

After Nomani broke the story, TJ’s director of student services, Brandon Kosatka, justified her action by insisting, “We want to recognize students for who they are as individuals, not focus on their achievements.” Does she understand that celebrating someone’s achievement and acknowledging someone’s effort is an important part of recognizing students as individuals?

Meanwhile, Bonitatibus “still hasn’t publicly recognized the students or told parents from earlier years that their students won the awards. And she hasn’t yet delivered the missing certificates.”

TJ is a prime example of the woke left’s systemic racism against Asian Americans in our education system. Besides withholding awards, TJ’s woke officials and liberals of the Fairfax County School Board also canceled the school’s merit-based and race-blind admission exam to increase the student body’s “diversity,” which has become a code word for “purging qualified Asians.” The result speaks for itself: Asian students make up 54 percent of the class of 2025, a dramatic decrease from 73 percent of the class of 2021.

Another elite high school that followed TJ’s lead and canceled its merit-based admission in 2021 has experienced disastrous results. San Francisco’s Lowell High School, once the best high school in the city, dropped out of the top 100 ranking of high schools nationwide for the first time in the school’s history after woke officials canceled the school’s merit-based admission and replaced it with a lottery system. After Asian American residents in the city successfully recalled three leftist members of the school board, the new members reinstated merit-based admission at Lowell last year.

At TJ, a group of concerned parents organized a group called the “Coalition for Thomas Jefferson High School,” and they sued Fairfax County Public School District for the school’s “unconstitutional” and discriminatory new admission policy. A federal judge ruled in favor of the coalition last year, but an appeals court stayed the decision.

The coalition filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court last year, but the high court declined to block TJ’s new anti-Asian admission policy. The high court decided before it heard two cases challenging affirmative action-based admissions policies at the University of North Carolina and Harvard University. The oral arguments of the two cases have given much hope that the Supreme Court will uphold America’s principle of equality under the law by ruling in June this year that affirmative action-based admission policies are unconstitutional.

But Asian Americans cannot rest our hope in one court’s ruling alone. A lot more should be done at the state level. That is why Youngkin’s announcement of launching a civil rights investigation of TJ officials who withheld awards from students is welcome news. Youngkin said, “Parents and students deserve answers. … I believe this failure may have caused material harm to those students and their parents and that this failure may have violated the Virginia Human Rights Act.” Youngkin was spot on.

What these school officials did was a violation of students’ civil rights. Youngkin’s consistent focus on education and the clarity in his messaging explains why many Asian voters supported him during his gubernatorial race.

I sincerely hope Youngkin’s investigation will not only right the wrongs for affected Asian American students and their families at TJ but also become a rallying cry for all patriotic Americans. The most pervasive form of institutional racism widely practiced today in the United States is the anti-Asian hate in our education system. From eliminating gifted and talented programs in K-12, to canceling merit-based entrance exams to elite high schools, to dropping standard tests from college admissions, the objective is to reduce Asian American representation regardless of our qualification and effort because we are the “wrong” kind of minority.

AG Merrick Garland Falsely Links FIVE Capitol Police Deaths to January 6 Chaos

In a statement on the second anniversary of the January 6 chaos at the Capitol, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland honored five Capitol Police officers who, he claimed, died after defending the legislature that day in 2021 — even though none died as a direct result of the chaos.

“Two years ago, the United States Capitol was attacked as lawmakers met to affirm the results of a presidential election,” Garland wrote. “Perpetrators attacked police officers, targeted and assaulted members of the media, and interfered with a fundamental element of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next…

“We will never forget the sacrifice of the law enforcement officers who defended the members of Congress and others inside the Capitol that day,” he continued. “And we will never forget the five officers who responded selflessly on January 6 and who have since lost their lives: Officer Brian Sicknick, Officer Howard Liebengood, Officer Jeffrey Smith, Officer Gunther Hashida, and Officer Kyle DeFreytag.”

“Who have since lost their lives.” Since is the operative word. Officer Sicknick died the following day from natural causes unrelated to the events of January 6. The other four officers committed suicide in the weeks after, with no evidence of any cause-and-effect related to that day. But Merrick would have you believe that all 5 officers died as a direct result of the Deep State-instigated chaos of that day.

Meanwhile, he said nothing about the only person who did die as a direct result of the violence that day: unarmed female protester Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by a plainclothes officer as she tried to climb through a broken window in a door inside the Capitol during the chaos.

Garland Says “Domestic Terrorism” by “White Supremacists” Are Among America’s Leading Problems

On June 15, 2021, Garland announced the unveiling of the Biden administration’s new “First National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism,” an initiative designed to combat what Garland viewed as one of America’s most serious problems: “domestic terrorism” carried out mostly by conservative adherents to a doctrine of “white supremacism.” Below are some of Garland’s remarks from that day, remarks in which he: (a) cast the Trump supporters who had breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6 as uniquely evil; (b) warned of the allegedly enormous threat posed by violent white supremacists; (c) likened such people to genocidal Islamic terrorists; and (d) gave anecdotal examples of past terrorist incidents that had been perpetrated exclusively by whites…

‘Lawless’: DeSantis Declares State Of Emergency, Activates National Guard Over Wave Of Migrant Arrivals

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency Friday, activating the National Guard to help with an influx of migrants arriving by boat on Florida’s coast.

In response to the Biden administration’s alleged inability to manage a record number of migrants attempting to cross the southern border into the U.S. and anticipating a wave of migrant arrivals, DeSantis authorized state agencies to take emergency response measures  Jan. 6, according to the order. The governor also authorized the National Guard to deploy “as needed, to deal with this emergency,” given that “the migration of unauthorized aliens to the State of Florida is likely to constitute a major disaster.”

“The lawlessness at the Southwest Border continues unabated and the Biden Administration has repeatedly demonstrated its ineptitude at managing the crisis it created,” the order stated. As a result, an increasing number of illegal migrants are seeking entry to the U.S.

At least 345 unauthorized persons entered Florida on Jan. 3 and Jan. 5, and the state has identified multiple vessels likely to contain illegal migrants destined for Florida’s shores, the order stated. From August 2022 to January 2023, officials indicted more than 8,000 migrants in the waters around Florida’s peninsula.

Customs and Border Patrol has logged a record number of migrant encounters at all U.S. borders in the first two months of fiscal year 2023, which began in October, including 460,000 at the southern border alone.

Nearly 500 illegal migrants docked in the Florida Keys over New Year’s weekend, forcing a park in the region to shut down as Florida law enforcement struggled to apprehend all of the arrivals. Border Patrol reportedly told local police they did not have sufficient federal resources to respond, according to a Facebook post by Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay’s office.

Ramsay’s office described the incident as a “federal failure.”

Biden is set to make his first visit to the southern border since becoming president in January 2021 before traveling to Mexico to attend the North American Leaders’ Summit. The border visit will likely include a stop in El Paso, Texas, Sunday, where Democratic El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser declared an emergency authorizing use of additional resources to help with migrants sleeping on the streets.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
