From the story: The comments from American Airlines CEO Doug Parker and Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly came on Wednesday during a Senate committee hearing on the financial support the industry received during the pandemic. “I think the case is very strong that masks don’t add much, if anything, in the air cabin environment,” Kelly said. “It is very safe and very high quality compared to any other indoor setting” (Daily Wire). From Bethany Mandel: By now, you’ve seen the viral videos of the families forcibly removed from flights because their child, usually a toddler, is unable or unwilling to be masked for the duration of the flight. Those videos aren’t just traumatic for the unfortunate individuals finding themselves at the center of a firestorm; they have a way of intimidating anyone with a young child or disabled individual unable to mask from even attempting public transportation of any kind (Deseret).

Facebook Finally Admits It: Its ‘Fact Checks’ Are Just Opinion

Now the Left’s entire “fact check” deception is exposed. My latest in FrontPage:

For years now, Facebook and the other social media giants have been acting as the guardians of acceptable opinion, banning even the president of the United States for stating views they decided had to be forcibly suppressed. But now, facing a serious legal challenge to their massive censorship of dissidents from the Leftist agenda and ongoing infringement of the freedom of speech, Facebook has finally admitted what its foes have contended from the beginning: its “fact checks” are not really factual at all, but are simply opinion. On the basis of that opinion, innumerable truthful voices have been silenced; lovers of freedom can only hope that this startling admission is the beginning of the end of the social media giants’ hegemony.

Reclaim The Net reported Saturday that “John Stossel, a libertarian journalist and author, filed a lawsuit against Facebook, claiming the platform defamed him through a ‘fact check’ label. Facebook added a ‘misleading’ label on a video he posted.”

This labeling of Stossel had a powerful effect: he was “censored on Facebook and his work was undermined by the ‘fact check’ that he alleged was defaming his character by falsely accusing him of lying.”

Faced with a legal challenge from Stossel, Facebook’s lawyers were cornered into making the damaging admission about its “fact check” labels: “The labels themselves are neither false nor defamatory; to the contrary, they constitute protected opinion.” This is a sleazy tactic, given Facebook’s current power over the public discourse. Reclaim The Net noted that “Facebook wants the ability to allow fact checkers to accuse their users of lying and censor and ban users based on those ‘fact checks,’ but not to have any liability for accusing those users of lying.”

Facebook has done immense damage to a great many more people than just Stossel with these “opinions.” Numerous sites that report on news that the Left doesn’t want you to know have been and/or continue to be shadowbanned or have been removed from Facebook altogether.

Of course, it’s not just Facebook, either. This is by now a tried-and-true tactic of the Left. For years the obscenely wealthy and fantastically corrupt Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has operated in the same way, smearing and defaming foes of the Left’s agenda as “extremists” and equating them with neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klansmen. As a target of this myself, I have several times inquired with lawyers about whether I could sue the SPLC for defamation and am always told the same thing: it’s just their opinion, it’s protected speech, you would have to prove actual malice, and so on.

The problem with this is that the SPLC’s “opinion,” like that of Facebook, is taken as sober, objective fact by numerous organizations and institutions, many of which use the SPLC’s spurious and defamatory “hate group list” to determine whom they will do business with and whom they will shun. Amazon, for example, has a special service for 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, but those that have been smeared by the SPLC, even if they have been neither accused nor convicted of any wrongdoing and are still charities recognized by the U.S. Treasury Department, are excluded from participation. And Amazon is by no means the only corporation to operate this way.

Now that Facebook has made this admission, it has thereby cast doubt upon the Left’s entire “fact check” operation. For Leftists, “fact checking” is just another means to discredit and destroy their political opponents, not a means to get to the truth of the matter at all. But Facebook’s admission will, unfortunately, not likely change anything: the evil conglomerate will continue to infringe upon the freedom of speech and police opinions, allowing only those of the far-Left to be disseminated freely.

To solve this problem will require a president who understands the threat to the freedom of speech that Facebook and the other social media giants pose, and who has the will, the power, and the support to act decisively. If the United States is to survive as a free republic, Facebook, Twitter, Google and all the rest will have to be broken up, the way AT&T was long ago. Otherwise, these sinister oligarchies will continue to strangle and silence dissenting voices, until finally there is no one left at all to speak out as they implement their authoritarian agenda in full.

Biden Lied – People Died.

Let’s talk about Afghanistan. The scene of Americas greatest calculated lie. This discussion is not about if we should have been in Afghanistan, let alone for 20 years. It is about how a nation made promises which were believed and then broke them deliberately plus lied about it. It’s about how the usurper in the White House blamed President Trump for the disaster that was the withdrawal from Afghanistan. It’s about how he thinks that if he says it enough we will think he did a great job of the withdrawal and that everything was Trumps fault.

HE DID NOT DO A GREAT JOB AND IT WAS DELIBERATE.

Not only is his administration guilty but so was our military leadership who, since the Obama days, have all been political appointees with leftist beliefs. Oath breakers one and all. Traitors.

I want to tell you all about an Afghani family that my wife and I have met. Their story at times is heartbreaking. Abdul was an interpreter imbedded with SEAL teams and other active marine units. He worked for years for the US and was always promised he and his whole family would be expatriated to the US should things go south – like they did under Biden.

Nobody with half a brain cell working would withdraw the military prior to evacuating those that needed to be got out. Those that were promised they would be safely got out.

Nobody with half a brain cell would allow the Taliban to provide security nor surrender the safest air base to them.

Nobody with half a brain cell would leave billions of dollars in high tech weaponry for our enemies to keep.

Biden did all of the above.

Back to Abdul and his family. He knew his name was known by the Taliban and that he had to evacuate his family. He expected an orderly extraction. That didn’t happen. Instead his family had to attempt to get to Kabul airport, fighting every inch of the way in massive crowds of panicking Afghanis. Some of his family got separated and did not make it through the multiple Taliban controlled check points. He did manage to keep his two very young children, a boy and girl, 2 and 4, his wife and his young brother. His uncle who was in the American trained Afghan special forces was found and executed by the Taliban.

Abdul broke his wrist and hand in the crush as he desperately fought to get his family through. He made it. We all remember seeing that massive Airforce C-17 Globemaster with desperate Afghans trying to get in the wheel wells and running g alongside the plane as it tried to take off. Abdul and his immediate family were on that plane – miraculously.

The plane took off and went to Germany where Abdul and his family stayed in a camp for two weeks. He had nothing. He did not receive medical attention for his hand and wrist. He was then separated from his brother who was flown to a camp in Wisconsin while Abdul, his wife and two kids were flown to a military tented camp in Texas. He finally received medical attention while in Texas for the injury.

After two tough months in the Texas camp he was flown to Florida and reunited with his brother and placed in a small and unfurnished section 8 apartment in Clearwater. The family had been promised $1000 each which has not happened. It was promised food stamps. Also still never happened. The family had no furniture apart from that donated by other tenants in the apartment complex. No money for food other than that donated. No clothes apart from some donated tee shirts supplied by the agency supposedly looking after them.

My wife and I have done all we can to help and assist. However, the Government has farmed the responsibility to local non profits whose agents are either too lazy or too incompetent ( or both ) to do what I am sure is being really well compensated by the federal government with our tax dollars.

Abdul now has a job making donuts for a large national company at one of their factories. One day after he got a work authorization card. He and his brother managed to get employed together thankfully as the brother speaks very little English but the whole family is working hard to learn. They do not think we should learn their language but understand English is the primary language and as such must learn it. They both ride donated bicycles over an hour each way, regardless of weather, and try do all the overtime hours they can. Abdul has to send money back to Afghanistan to his elderly mother and family left behind. They live in fear of the Taliban finding out their son worked so closely with American special force teams. They cannot, nor would they be able to, get any help from the Taliban. ( I am embarrassed that these two guys can ride that long and far on rickety bicycles to a mediocre paying job every day and we cannot get Americans to cross the road to work.)

There are thousands of Americans, Christian’s, Afghans and others promised a home in America who are now stranded without hope and living in total fear. Some in hiding. The Taliban is murdering them, not in a clean quick fashion but slowly and torturously.

How will this country ever be able to persuade others to work with us when we have become a nation of lies, not trust worthy, whose word means nothing to this administration?

ARIZONA: Paradise Valley Unified School District Considers Adding Math Textbook That Claims Conservatives Are More Racist Than Liberals

Paradise Valley Unified School District in Arizona is considering adding an algebra textbook that discusses social justice issues as part of the district’s high school math curriculum review.

One of the math textbooks reportedly being considered for high school algebra teaches students about “racial bias,” “ethnic diversity in the United States” and “the widening imbalance between numbers of women and men on college campuses,” according to resources obtained by Parents Defending Education.

The textbook, titled “Precalculus 6th Edition,” by Robert F. Blitzer features a graph labeled “Measuring Racial Prejudice, by Political Identification,” which claims that conservatives are allegedly more racist than liberals.

Paradise Valley Schools is currently reviewing “Grades 9-12 math curriculum resources for high school math classes,” according to the district’s website. Dec. 17 is the final day for curriculum review.

The district is also considering books by Pearson, an educational publishing company. The company claims that education is a means for achieving “social justice,” according to the Pearson website.

“Education is the most powerful force for equity and change in our world. As the leading global education provider for learners and schools, we have a unique responsibility to be proactive in fighting systemic racism and bias. To promote diversity and inclusion. To bring social justice to the classroom. To be anti-racist,” the company’s website reads.

Pearson offers other left-wing social issue resources such as a story about a 9-year-old transgender child and a video that promotes Colin Kaepernick.

Erika Sanzi, the director of outreach for Parents Defending Education, told the Daily Caller that she believes math should be taught “free of politics.”

“It is not the role of a math curriculum — or a school system for that matter — to define political parties for students,” Sanzi said. “Teach [students] how to do math free of politics and send them off with the skills to draw their own conclusions.”

Matt Salmon, a former Congressman for Arizona and current gubernatorial candidate, told the Daily Caller that he believes the graph is a form of “bigotry” and labels conservative families and kids as racist.

Salmon argued that math textbooks with an emphasis on social justice would “not be rubber-stamped” if more “level-headed people” decided to run for school board positions.

Paradise Valley Schools told the Daily Caller that the district’s curriculum review committee is “reviewing a variety of materials from vendors is currently in the process of seeking community input.”

“These materials are not yet approved. Not all materials will be recommended for use in our schools,” a spokesperson for the district said. “Part of the committee review process is designed to identify materials that do not align with the Arizona Department of Education state standards or PVSchools values.”

Melania Trump Is Releasing Her Own Line Of NFTs [Non-Fungible Tokens]

Former first lady Melania Trump announced Thursday that she is launching her own line of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and donating a portion of the proceeds to fund children’s programs.

NFTs are unique units of data, similar to trading cards, that are stored on the blockchain, a decentralized public ledger distributed across multiple servers. Conventionally, an NFT is similar to a deed of ownership corresponding to a particular item of media, like a piece of digital art.

The first NFT, titled “Melania’s Vision,” is a digital watercolor painting of the former First Lady’s eyes by artist Marc-Antoine Coulon and an audio message of her voice, listed on her website, MelaniaTrump.com. The NFT will be available to purchase from Dec. 16-31, after which she will release another NFT.

“I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative,” the former first lady said in a statement.

The NFTs will be stored on the Solana blockchain and purchased through the SOL cryptocurrency at a price of roughly $186.

Mrs. Trump announced that part of the proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will fund an initiative designed to improve children’s technical skills.

“Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community,” she said.

POLL: Majorities Of Both Parties Say The Media Isn’t Trustworthy

Huge majorities of Republicans, Democrats and Independents say the U.S. media is biased and its main goal is to advance its own agenda, according to a Thursday poll from the Trafalgar Group and Convention of States.

More than 76% of poll respondents stated that the media is primarily focused on advancing their own political opinions and agenda, with 62.7% of Democrats, 76.1% of Independents and 90.3% of Republicans agreeing.

The poll surveyed 1,084 likely general election voters between Dec. 4 and Dec. 7. and reported a 3% margin of error. Trafalgar employs a number of methods for conducting its polls, including live phone calls, automated calls, emails, text messages, and two other proprietary methods it does not share publicly.

“Thanks to the decentralization of the news through the internet and social media, the mainstream press outlets no longer have a monopoly on controlling the news,” Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action, said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller. “Unfortunately, the mainstream media has been slow to adjust to this reality and don’t seem to realize that the average American can now see in real time the difference between the actual facts of a story versus what the mainstream media says. People are realizing the open bias and partisanship of the press, and it is making them increasingly cynical.”

The Trafalgar Group was one of only two polling firms that accurately predicted Trump’s victory in the presidential election of 2016. The firm was also among the few that predicted Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ win in 2018, as well as Republican victories in Virginia in November.

The poll is only the latest indicator of Americans’ loss of trust in the media. A June survey from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism found that the U.S. ranked the lowest in trust for the media among 46 nations with developed media industries.

“This is an extraordinary (though unsurprising) finding,” journalist Glenn Greenwald said after the report’s release. “Most amazing is that the corporate sector of the US media is failing in every respect: financially, culturally, collapsing trust.”

The poll also shows a dramatic drop from the “new low” for trust in the media established in January 2021, when just 46% of Americans stated the media was trustworthy. The Trafalgar poll now puts that number at 23.7%.

2021 was a strange year for the film industry. Covid-19 closed the theatres for many months; a number of movies appeared first on streaming services like Amazon and Netflix.

We’ve selected a dozen of the year’s releases for our readers. Not all of them are Oscar material, but they all combine artistry, engagement and reasonably humane values which put them a cut above the rest.

We’ve done our best to cater for all ages and interests. No doubt we’ve left out some of your favourites – please leave comments with your suggestions.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Directed by Jon Watts. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong. 148 minutes. RT 94%

For the first time Spider-Man’s identity is revealed, bringing his superhero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting his loved ones at risk. His application for MIT is rejected! When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell releases the powerful villains, whom Spidey (spoiler alert) puts back in their boxes. Great fun.

Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

Directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. Documentary. 117 minutes. RT 99%

In 1969, after the famous (and debauched) Woodstock festival, New York City organised a music festival stretching over six weekends in Harlem. The producers of “Summer of Soul” rescued the film of the all-but-forgotten event. The all-black performers are wonderful and the enthusiastic crowd are a joy to watch. Exhilarating fare. (The politics of the era were radical and this is reflected in the film.)

Belfast

Directed by Kenneth Branagh. Starring Caitríona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciarán Hinds, Colin Morgan, Jude Hill. 97 minutes. RT 86%

This is Kenneth Branagh’s homage to the Belfast of his boyhood – at the beginning of The Troubles and lethal hostility between Protestants and Catholics – and its close family and neighbourhood ties. It follows 9-year-old Buddy and his family, who are forced to emigrate as the violence and anarchy grow. Beautifully filmed in black and white.

The Father

Directed by Florian Zeller. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams. 97 minutes. RT 98%

Anthony Hopkins, one of our greatest living actors, won an Oscar (his second) for his portrayal of the suffering of a man with dementia. You see his confusion, his distress, his anger, his dependence. It’s a bravura performance – and frightening in its intensity.

The Courier

Directed by Dominic Cooke. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Merab Ninidze, Rachel Brosnahan, Jessie Buckley, Angus Wright. 111 minutes. RT 85%

This is a true story about Cold War skulduggery. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Greville Wynne, a British businessman who was recruited by the MI6 to deliver messages to Russian agent Oleg Penkovsky in the 1960s. Through his work, the US received valuable information which helped to end the Cuban Missile Crisis, although Penkovsky was caught and executed. Beautiful sound track.

Dune

Directed by Denis Villeneuve. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac. 156 minutes. RT 83%

Fans of this sci fi epic have been waiting for a film to do justice to the 1960s novel by Frank Herbert. Canadian director Denis Villeneuve has succeeded. Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man with a great destiny, must travel to the desert sands of Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the universe, to ensure the future of his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over “spice”, a hallucinogenic substance which enables space travel and personal rejuvenation. And this is only Part 1!

No Time To Die

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.Starring Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux. 163 minutes. RT 84%

Daniel Craig is retiring from his highly successful stint as 007. In his last film as James Bond, the spy has left active service, has surrendered his 007 number and is enjoying the beaches of Jamaica. But then an old friend from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain and his lethal bioweapon. Lots of firepower and car chases because the future of the world is at stake.

A Quiet Place Part II

Directed by John Krasinski. Starring Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy, Djimon Hounsou. 97 minutes. RT 91%

Successful sequels are rare, but this follow-up on the impressive sci fi horror film A Quiet Place is excellent. Dad’s dead now, killed by blind aliens who are incredibly powerful but who can hear a pin drop. Mum and her three children have to find other survivors, contending with both monstrous aliens and evil humans. Chock-full of suspense.

King Richard

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. Starring Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn, and Jon Bernthal. 145 minutes. RT 91%

Richard Williams is determined to turn his daughters, Venus and Serena, into world champions. Training on neglected tennis courts–rain or shine–the girls are shaped by their father’s unyielding commitment. Will Smith’s performance is riveting. Like most biopics, King Richard ignores some of the darker corners of its hero’s past, but it’s great entertainment.

Oxygen

Directed by Alexandre Aja. Starring Mélanie Laurent. French with subtitles. 101 minutes. RT 88%

A young woman wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She can’t move and she doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. She’s running out of oxygen and must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare, assisted by an AI bot with a sly and sinister voice. Not for people with claustrophobia.

Worth

Directed bySara Colangelo.StarringMichael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Amy Ryan. 118 minutes. RT 81%

How valuable is a human life? This based-on-real-events film about negotiations for compensation to the families of the victims of 9/11 raises interesting questions. Congress appoints renowned mediator Kenneth Feinberg to head the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. He faces the impossible task of determining the worth of a life to help families who had lost their loved ones.

Minari

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung. Starring Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn Yuh-jung, Will Patton. 115 minutes. RT 100%

Minari received several Oscar nominations and won a Best Supporting Actress award. It follows a Korean-American family which moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in the 1980s in search of the American Dream. Amidst the instability and challenges of farming in the rugged Ozarks, this moving film shows the resilience of family ties.

Abortion is OK but transphobic pronouns are definitely not OK

Strange but true: an abortion clinic is misgendering a trans doctor.

Today’s dispatch from the Reproductive Revolution comes from Kansas City, Missouri. Quinn Jackson, MD, (they/he) is a family medicine physician there and a fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health. Dr Jackson stands out in the reproductive health space – a trans male doctor (i.e., natal female) who works in a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

In a recent article in MedPage Today, Dr Jackson says that they/he loves the work. “I believe abortion can be a very empowering experience, and for many of my patients, the solidarity between women is a part of that. People with uteruses suffer so much violence from men.”

What troubles Dr Jackson is not the ethical issues around abortion, or even the dark clouds hovering over Roe v Wade which threaten to tear through their/his industry like last week’s Kentucky tornadoes. What distresses them/him is pronouns. It seems that even in abortion clinics staff persist in using the wrong pronouns for Dr Jackson.

There has been a concerted effort by some in the reproductive rights movement to make abortion more gender inclusive. Some clinics ask patients for their pronouns and some of those staff members will use them. Some organizations use “pregnant people” in their communications. The key phrase being “some.” Others continue to use language and imagery that excludes gender queer and trans people from abortion conversations. The most hypocritical among us will espouse inclusion publicly, but fail to show up for non-binary and trans folx in meaningful ways. It is exhausting. Yes, I see you prescribing gender affirming hormones, yet calling me “she” in every meeting we attend.

Many people work in toxic environments but it comes as a deplorable surprise that these include Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. Could it be that these rude people don’t really believe, deep down in their heart of hearts, that women can become men? Shouldn’t Planned Parenthood have an Ombudsperson to whom Dr Quinn can bring their/his complaints?

What Are We Waiting For?

Joseph R. Wood: We wait for the Lord, and argue about justice. We wait for what we will have completely and endlessly only in His Kingdom, the Kingdom which is not of this world.

We know the season of Advent is one of waiting. Having heard November’s liturgy readings of the end times and closed the year with the feast of Christ the King, we begin the new year waiting for what we just heard and celebrated.

We may also know the season of the “holidays” can be one of arguing. As Christ promised, many families and friends are dangerously divided over who He is as well as over what our political arrangements should be.

These seasons are closely related. We are waiting for Christ to return finally and save us, and we are arguing about what our politics should be while we wait.

“Thy Kingdom come,” we pray in every Mass, six times in every Rosary, a few times often as penance. A powerfully important aspiration about what government we should seek, given to us by Christ himself. We are told to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.

Perhaps the most important single divide in politics in the last few centuries emerges from this. Some believe we must do what we can to make things better in our political communities, while we await the coming of the Kingdom. Others have had enough waiting and want to bring about the perfect political system right here, right now (these are usually labeled “progressives”).

And that’s the root of the big arguments that unfold all year long and seem to take on a peculiar intensity during the holidays.

But both sides of the argument know there must be something better coming, a better politics or a better and final Kingdom. How are those two related?

In both cases, we hope for justice. We want what is right.

The psalms are filled with cries for justice, with praise for the just man, with the belief that justice will triumph in God’s rule. Psalm 48: “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! . . .[The rulers of the earth] saw it, they were astounded, they were in panic, they took to flight.” Or Psalm 97: “The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many islands be glad! . . .For you, O Lord, are most high over all the earth.” Psalm 89: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.”

No wonder Christ tells us to pray for this Kingdom.

But other sources cry for this city, too. In Mark Helprin’s novel Winter’s Tale, a key to the story is found in the inscription on a grand salver: “For what can be imagined more beautiful than the sight of a perfectly just city rejoicing in justice alone.”

We all long for that city, that community of persons that melds truth, beauty, and goodness.

More ancient sources saw this longing, as well. In Plato’s dialogue Statesman, Socrates watches approvingly as a visitor to Athens helps a young man, also named Socrates, understand what a good ruler, a statesman, really is. Such a statesman knows the souls of his citizens well enough to weave their virtues together for the good of the city, appointing the courageous to be leaders in time of war and the moderate to govern in peace.

The visitor describes six kinds of governments: rule for the common good by one, by a few, or by the many; and selfish or tyrannical rule by one, by a few, or by the many. This scheme of political analysis is still helpful today as we argue about politics.

But the visitor touches also on a seventh kind of government, one that “we must separate out from the other constitutions, like a god from men.” This divine government exceeds human capacity. A good statesman can only know imperfectly the virtues of the citizens. It takes a divine ruler to know men perfectly, and thus only a god could rule perfectly.

Socrates and Plato knew this is how we yearn to be governed. They also know it won’t happen on earth.

Likewise, Plato’s student Aristotle describes the six kinds of government but also sees how real Greek cities fit into that scheme. In the Politics (Books IV and VII), he seems to separate the regimes or constitutions that are actually possible from the government “that one would pray for.” Philosophers dispute the meaning of this, of course, but it seems to me a nod towards Plato’s seventh, divine regime.

The great exposition of this tension between earthly political communities and the rule of God, and the hope for resolution of that tension, is St. Augustine’s City of God. The title comes from the psalms.

St. Augustine sees the divide between the earthly city, those concerned only with the things around us, and the City of God, the saints in Heaven and those still on earth but in the communion of saints. These latter choose God as their final end over physical and material pleasure, ease and comfort.

St. Augustine tells us that these two cities are intermixed here on earth, until the end of time. Sometimes earthly rulers will tend towards justice and tranquillitas ordinis, or an ordered tranquility in earthly affairs that rests on peace and justice. Peace on earth, good will towards men. This order is a reflection of the eternal peace of Heaven.

Other rulers will oppose that tranquility.

But we can never achieve the perfect political arrangement on earth. Eternal peace is only realized in that seventh, divine regime where the seeming contradictions that plague earthly politics are resolved.

Where, in the words of Psalm 85, “Mercy and faithfulness will meet, righteousness and peace will kiss. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from heaven.”

We wait for the Lord. We wait and argue about justice in our politics. We wait for what we will have completely and endlessly only in His Kingdom, the Kingdom which is not of this world.

Biden’s Bounty on Your Life: Hospitals’ Incentive Payments for COVID-19

Upon admission to a once-trusted hospital, American patients with COVID-19 become virtual prisoners, subjected to a rigid treatment protocol with roots in Ezekiel Emanuel’s (Obama puppet)  “Complete Lives System” for rationing medical care in those over age 50.

They have a shockingly high mortality rate.

How and why is this happening, and what can be done about it?

As exposed in audio recordings, hospital executives in Arizona admitted meeting several times a week to lower standards of care, with coordinated restrictions on visitation rights. Most COVID-19 patients’ families are deliberately kept in the dark about what is really being done to their loved ones.

The combination that enables this tragic and avoidable loss of hundreds of thousands of lives includes (1) The CARES Act, which provides hospitals with bonus incentive payments for all things related to COVID-19 (testing, diagnosing, admitting to hospital, use of remdesivir and ventilators, reporting COVID-19 deaths, and vaccinations) and (2) waivers of customary and long-standing patient rights by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

In 2020, the Texas Hospital Association submitted requests for waivers to  CMS. According to Texas attorney Jerri Ward,

“CMS has granted ‘waivers’ of federal law regarding patient rights. Specifically, CMS purports to allow hospitals to violate the rights of patients or their surrogates with regard to medical record access, to have patient visitation, and to be free from seclusion.” She notes that “rights do not come from the hospital or CMS and cannot be waived, as that is the antithesis of a ‘right.’ The purported waivers are meant to isolate and gain total control over the patient and to deny patient and patient’s decision-maker the ability to exercise informed consent.”

Creating a “National Pandemic Emergency” provided justification for such sweeping actions that override individual physician medical decision-making and patients’ rights. The CARES Act provides incentives for hospitals to use treatments dictated solely by the federal government under the auspices of the NIH. These “bounties” must paid back if not “earned” by making the COVID-19 diagnosis and following the COVID-19 protocol.

The hospital payments include:

  • A “free” required PCR test in the Emergency Room or upon admission for every patient, with government-paid fee to hospital.
  • Added bonus payment for each positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
  • Another bonus for a COVID-19 admission to the hospital.
  • A 20 percent “boost” bonus payment from Medicare on the entire hospital bill for use of remdesivir instead of medicines such as Ivermectin.
  • Another and larger bonus payment to the hospital if a COVID-19 patient is mechanically ventilated.
  • More money to the hospital if cause of death is listed as COVID-19, even if patient did not die directly of COVID-19.
  • A COVID-19 diagnosis also provides extra payments to coroners.

CMS implemented “value-based” payment programs that track data such as how many workers at a healthcare facility receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Now we see why many hospitals implemented COVID-19 vaccine mandates. They are paid more.

Outside hospitals, physician MIPS quality metrics link doctors’ income to performance-based pay for treating patients with COVID-19 EUA drugs. Failure to report information to CMS can cost the physician 4% of reimbursement.

Because of obfuscation with medical coding and legal jargon, we cannot be certain of the actual amount each hospital receives per COVID-19 patient. But Attorney Thomas Renz and CMS whistleblowers have calculated a total payment of at least $100,000 per patient.

What does this mean for your health and safety as a patient in the hospital?

There are deaths from the government-directed COVID treatments. For Remdesivir, studies show that 71–75 percent of patients suffer an adverse effect, and the drug often had to be stopped after five to ten days because of these effects, such as kidney and liver damage, and death. Remdesivir trials during the 2018 West African Ebola outbreak had to be discontinued because death rate exceeded 50%. Yet, in 2020, Anthony Fauci directed that Remdesivir was to be the drug hospitals use to treat COVID-19, even when the COVID clinical trials of Remdesivir showed similar adverse effects.

In ventilated patients, the death toll is staggering. A National Library of Medicine January 2021 report of 69 studies involving more than 57,000 patients concluded that fatality rates were 45 percent in COVID-19 patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, increasing to 84 percent in older patients. Renz announced at a Truth for Health Foundation Press Conference that CMS data showed that in Texas hospitals, 84.9% percent of all patients died after more than 96 hours on a ventilator.

Then there are deaths from restrictions on effective treatments for hospitalized patients. Renz and a team of data analysts have estimated that more than 800,000 deaths in America’s hospitals, in COVID-19 and other patients, have been caused by approaches restricting fluids, nutrition, antibiotics, effective antivirals, anti-inflammatories, and therapeutic doses of anti-coagulants.

We now see government-dictated medical care at its worst in our history since the federal government mandated these ineffective and dangerous treatments for COVID-19, and then created financial incentives for hospitals and doctors to use only those “approved” (and paid for) approaches.

Our formerly trusted medical community of hospitals and hospital-employed medical staff have effectively become “bounty hunters” for your life. Patients need to now take unprecedented steps to avoid going into the hospital for COVID-19.

Newsweek reports Florida Governor Ron DeSantis alleged that critical race theory (CRT) and equity training have become cottage industries, suggesting that experts who provide professional guidance to schools and businesses on racial inequities are making a lucrative living off of their work.

“This has become a cottage industry—the CRT. There’s people making huge amounts of money,” DeSantis said at a Wednesday press conference. “They basically will get tens of thousands of dollars to go in and do a training, sometimes in schools, sometimes in business, basically saying ‘Okay, pay me $50,000 so I can teach your employees how racist capitalism is.’”

“This issue is that you have these whole cottage industries of these consultants that will come and they’ll go into a school district or they’ll go to a business or they’ll go to colleges and universities and they bring a lot of this into those institutions and they call it ‘equity,’” he added. “Just understand when you hear ‘equity’ used that it’s just an ability for people to smuggle in their ideology.”

This week, the governor introduced his new Stop W.O.K.E. (Wrongs Against Our Kids and Employees) Act, which seeks to defund schools in Florida that hire and utilize CRT consultants.

DeSantis Announces ‘Stop WOKE Act’ Against CRT in Schools, Workplace

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced the “Stop W.O.K.E. Act” Wednesday “taking a stand against critical race theory in our schools and in the workplace.”

Alongside Lt. Gov. Jeanette Núñez and Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran, he introduced the new piece of legislation: “Stop Wrongs Against Our Kids and Employees Act.”

“I view the wokeness as a form of cultural Marxism,” DeSantis said. “They really want to tear at the fabric of our society and our culture.”

The bill would allow parents the right to sue if they think their kids are being taught CRT.

“Our legislation will defend any money for K-12 going to CRT consultants,” DeSantis said. “No taxpayer dollars should be used to teach our kids to hate our country or hate each other.”

The conservative governor referenced the Left’s attempts to erase U.S. history and topple statues of Founding Fathers and other figures.

Transgenderism Is Communism

So many narratives, so little time.  Today, we take another look at the transgender narrative and zero in on how the wheels are falling off this stupid lie in so many ways.

Before we get started, I’ve said many times there have always been transgender people and always will be.  Nobody should hate them or want to do them harm.  But that doesn’t mean I want them in control of public policy or to give them every bit of political power they desire.  These are separate questions.

Transgenderism is communism.  I’ve talked before about the communist technique of Hegelian dialectical negation.  Take a foundational idea, set up a contrary idea in motion against it, and keep agitating until the foundational idea is destroyed.  Up to now, it’s been universally understood there are only two biological sexes, male and female.  Set in motion the contrary idea that gender is just a social and psychological construct and, Voila!, all of a sudden there are 57 genders, men need tampons and can get pregnant, and women’s sports are dead.  The point of all this obvious insanity is to help usher in the socialist revolution which, in case you don’t know, really means wealth and power for a tiny elite.

But don’t take my word for it.  Now we have video evidence that transgenderism is communism.  There’s a video on YouTube with four trans activists saying, among other things.  “Trans liberation calls for communist revolution.”  In the video, they discuss ways to bring about a “communist society” to benefit trans people.  Revolution would “require the abolition of society as it currently is.  When we demand that society be arranged in certain ways, this is part of the project.” Watch:

There you have it, in-your-face Hegelian dialectical negation in spades, and proof that transgenderism is at root communism.  It couldn’t be any clearer.

So the ideology of political transgenderism is rotten to its core.  But communism is not the only thing wrong with it.  Transgenderism has been destroying women’s sports for a couple of years now, but a particularly egregious example came up recently.  The nation was horrified when a biological male on the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team, who formerly competed as a man, recently wiped out a bunch of records previously held by real women.  It was a massacre.  This guy shattered one women’s record by 38 seconds.  The women on the team are distressed by the fact they will never have a chance of winning again.  Viewed dispassionately, one could say the patriarchy is destroying women’s sports, but women’s rights groups won’t stand up for women’s rights.  Why?  Because they’re hard core Leftists first, committed to the revolution.  They don’t give a darn about women’s rights.  Stop sending them money.

The obliteration of women’s rights in the name of political transgenderism is occurring worldwide now, thanks to the United Nations.  The UN is busy reinterpreting all its documents containing the term “gender equality” to mean ‘transgender identity protection’.  Its women’s rights office has switched from women’s rights to promoting gender identity as a core value.

The stupid transgenderism lie has also been forcing compelled speech, a big constitutional no-no.  The latest example is New York’s new law ordering utilities, phone companies, and municipal governments to use preferred pronouns when interacting with the public verbally or in writing.

Here are some more wheels falling off the transgenderism narrative recently:  Children under 16 presumed to be able to give informed consent to puberty blockers when they aren’t old enough to consent to a car loan; public schools pushing transgenderism on very young kids 4 to 8 years old and hiding student gender transitioning from parents;  a psychiatric journal admitting it falsely claimed gender transitioning improves mental health when it doesn’t; and commercial transgender vendors not disclosing hormones are physically addictive.  I don’t know which is worse – the communist ideology of political transgenderism or the transgender-industrial complex whose only interest in all of this is making money.

Before you Lefties attack me for transphobia, sweep your own doorstep before you come after me.  Ibram X. Kendi, patron saint of antiracism wokitude and great hero of the revolution, said last month he was horrified when his young daughter told him she wanted to be a boy.  So much for intersectionality.  Kendi must be a great disappointment to his fellow travelers who pushed his shtick at every turn.  Maybe he won’t get invited to speak at any more socialist conferences.  So go attack Kendi before you attack me.  Meanwhile, if you want to defend your communist ideology of political transgenderism, your use of the communist technique of Hegelian dialectical negation, or the crassly commercial transgender-industrial complex, I’m all ears.

NATO? If Russia Conquered Europe, it Would an Improvement

As we ponder how our day’s Dr. Strangeloves want Ukraine to join NATO so that we’ll be obligated to war against Russia if it attacks its western, kleptocratic neighbor, we should consider a certain point. It isn’t just, as some have pointed out, that Cold War relic NATO has outlived its usefulness. It’s not just that Russia, no longer being the Soviet Union, has no intention of invading Western Europe and couldn’t pull off a Julius-Caesar-in-Gaul even if it did. It’s also this:

Troubling over such a thing is a bit like fearing that Bill Gates’s bucks will invade your bank account.

NATO was created in 1949 to defend Europe against the Soviet Union, an expansionist, evil empire that devoted time and treasure to spreading the malevolent ideology of Marxism worldwide. Fear of this was entirely rational as such a conquest would have meant descent into hell on Earth, so we rightly drew a bombs-and-bullets line in the sand. But at issue today isn’t your grandfather’s Bear. It’s more like your great-grandfather’s — and relatively bearable.

Consider: Ex-German chancellor Angela Merkel opened the floodgates of Muslim migration, illustrating why late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi once said that jihadist terrorists were unnecessary because 50 million-plus Muslims in Europe would turn it into an Islamic continent in two generations.

Many European leaders sing Merkel’s song, too. Swedish politician Mona Sahlin unabashedly stated in 2001 that “the Swedes must be integrated into the new Sweden; the old Sweden is never coming back.” French president Emmanuel Macron actually advocated the idea of creating “Eurafrica,” a scheme requiring the flooding of his continent with 150 to 200 million Africans during the next few decades.

Not to be outdone in vindicating the Gallic surrender stereotype, French “intellectual” Christian de Moliner suggested in 2017 that France should essentially be divided — via the creation of a semi-autonomous, quasi-Sharia state within the country — to avoid civil war with its Muslims. Note that such sentiments place these politicians to the left of the Dalai Lama, who told the BBC in 2019 that “Europe is for Europeans” and that most migrants should ultimately be returned to their native lands.

And quite Lama-like, Russia boasts a healthy nationalism. Its president, Vladimir Putin, has touted his civilization’s glories and has said, regarding immigration, “Russia doesn’t need minorities; minorities need Russia.” And while Western Europe is awash in multicult mush, Moscow issued a 2014 document stating that Russia rejects “such principles as multiculturalism and tolerance” and “projects imposing alien values on society.”

Speaking of alien values, so-called same-sex “marriage” is rubber stamped in Western Europe, the continent’s social activists often encourage confused children to embrace a Made-up-Sexual Status (MUSS or “transgender”) “identity,” and its authorities may punish critics of such via “hate speech” laws.

In Russia, though, it’s not just that homosexual unions of any kind are verboten and that true (i.e., man-woman) marriage was enshrined in the nation’s constitution last year. Moscow also has outlawed pro-homosexual propaganda, and Putin has sung the nuclear family’s praises. More recently, he has inveighed against the elimination of the terms “mother,” “father” and “family”; has criticized the denial of “the distinction between sexes” and of the categories “of men and women”; and has said that advocating youth MUSS activity borders on “a crime against humanity.”

But that’s not all. In October, Putin criticized Westerners for “the aggressive deletion of whole pages of their own history” and their “reverse discrimination against the majority in the interests of minorities.” He also correctly proclaimed, in 2019, that liberalism had become “obsolete.”

But now, obsolescence is the West’s essence. Back when Russia was the USSR and our Left loved it, we called the Soviets godless and they called us decadent; now we’re godless and decadent.

We hear incessant talk about the “separation of church and state” even though it’s not in our Constitution (but it is in the 1936 Soviet Constitution), and radical applications of it are foisted upon us.  In many European nations, more than 50 percent of young people identify as having “no religion” (70 percent in Britain). What’s more, some European authorities are even labeling the Bible “hate speech.” This is the handiwork, too, do note, of devout adherents of moral relativism — the West’s characteristic philosophical affliction — of the “Whatever works for you” crew.

But it doesn’t work in Russia. In a 2013 State of the Nation speech, Putin lamented that many “Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values. …Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan. This is the path to degradation.”

None of this is to say I trust Putin or take for granted that his pronouncements aren’t just self-interest-driven posturing. I don’t trust him any more than I do Biden or Pelosi or Kamala Harris, though I do trust him to be one thing they’re not: smart.

Putin ought to know, too, that the political correctness he condemns will destroy a nation. After all and as Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov pointed out, the KGB Putin used to work for encouraged such ideas in the West for this very reason.

But whatever the reason, GK Chesterton’s 1926 prediction that the “madness of tomorrow” would lie “not in Moscow, but much more in Manhattan” has come to pass. So explain to me not only why NATO is still necessary but also, very slowly, so I can understand it, this:

If Vladimir Putin or some near-future Russian leader completely lost his marbles, had a Napoleon moment and decided to invade Western Europe, why should America’s sons shed blood over it (let alone over the Ukraine)?

If under such a fanciful scenario the modern-day tsar were successful and imposed Russia’s social norms on the vanquished, what would be the loss to humanity? “Pride” events with men marching mostly naked? Puberty blockers for 12-year-olds? The arresting of pastors for preaching the Bible? The ignoring of the Muslim rape-gang abuse of 1,400 UK girls for 16 years for fear of being called “racist”? It’s a temping cause, really, but I think I’ll pass.

Should our Dr. Strangelove chicken hawks succeed in getting Ukraine into NATO, we can only hope that an ex-high-ranking Polish officer spoke truth when he told me years ago that the acronym stands for “No Action; Talk Only.” For if the West ever fights Russia, it’s possible that maybe, just perhaps, the Bear will now have God on its side.

“The House of Representatives is voting after midnight tonight because @LeaderMcConnell allowed Democrats to bi-pass the filibuster and ram through the debt ceiling increase to $31.5 TRILLION,” she tweeted. “Mitch is Biden’s b*tch.”

As of Wednesday morning, her tweet had been liked more than 11,000 times and retweeted nearly 4,000 times.

“We’ve heard a lot about text messages. I’d like the Democrats and the people on the January 6th committee to produce their text messages, Mr. Speaker, denouncing Antifa, BLM riots that raged across American cities for a year. I would love to read those.

But instead we saw Democrats encourage, incite, and continue to call these riots peaceful. And then when they got arrested and put in jail, they bailed them out so they could go out and riot some more.

I rise in opposition to this resolution to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress because it’s being held by nothing but a kangaroo court. Congress’ job is to make laws, not enforce them. That’s the role of the Executive and the Judicial Branch of this government.

But somehow the communists here in charge have forgotten – or no, not forgotten, are purposefully abusing the Constitution and what this body of Congress is supposed to do.

You see when we go to this level, to the point where we’re forgetting and abusing what our power is, then the American people will trust us no more. And that is exactly what the January 6th committee is doing.”

I love how MTG isn’t afraid to speak her mind and I’m more than certain the left will be outraged that she called them communists on the House floor. But if water is truly wet, you can bet Kevin McCarthy will join the chorus condemning MTG for calling Pelosi and her henchmen ‘communists’.

Biden Admin Releases 1,491 Classified Documents About JFK’s Murder

The Biden administration released over 1,000 classified documents Wednesday regarding the assassination and subsequent investigation of former President John F. Kennedy.

The documents include filings from federal agencies and law enforcement authorities, including the CIA and FBI, as part of the federal government’s review of Kennedy’ assassination.

Among the revelations from the documents is that Lee Harvey Oswald, Kennedy’s apparent murderer, met with the Soviet Union’s embassy consul in Mexico, who was linked to KGB assassins. Oswald, who spent nearly three years in the Soviet Union in the late 1950s and early 1960s, had visited the Cuban and Soviet embassies in Mexico in an attempt to get a visa to the Soviet Union.

Many of the documents appear to be duplicates of redacted files that were previously released, according to CNN. The revelations failed to satisfy many researchers into Kennedy’s assassination, the outlet reported.

“The reason it’s so important is not so much that we’re going to find a smoking gun that changes the entire theory of who killed Kennedy,” Larry Sabato, a professor at the University of Virginia and Kennedy scholar, told CNN. “The lack of transparency and the fact that getting these documents after 58 years is like pulling a whole mouthful of teeth — it tells you why we have so many conspiracy theories.”

“Biden is the first president to come close to acknowledging what cynical conspiracy theorists have long assumed: There are assassination-related documents sealed away at the Archives that might never be made public, or at least not in the lifetime of anyone who remembers where they were when they heard the shocking news from Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963,” journalist and author Philip Shenon wrote in an op-ed for Politico.

The documents also revealed that Australian intelligence agents had warning as early as 1962 that there was a Soviet plot to assassinate Kennedy, but they deemed the person who made the tip to be untrustworthy.

There are still over 10,000 documents to be released, according to CNN, which will be seen by December 2022 at the earliest under the guidance of an executive order issued by President Joe Biden in October.
