US Capitol Police Inspector Thomas Loyd Jr., who ordered the initial command for cops to spray lethal munitions during the Capitol riot “completely fabricated” a narrative about protesters waging a “terror attack” against police to District Federal Judge Timothy Kelly in federal court. This took place before this week’s sentencing hearing for Proud Boys Joe Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zach Rehl, Dominic Pezzola and Enrique Tarrio.

In an effort to persuade Judge Kelly to add terror enhancement to the defendant’s sentences, Loyd alongside U.S. Capitol Police Officer Shae Cooney Mark Ode broke down in tears claiming they were traumatized victims of an insurrection that was planned and orchestrated by the former Proud Boys leaders who were found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

J6 attendees who claim they tried to help police officers or enticed police to join them in stopping the certification of the election are using the same tactics as domestic abusers trying to sweet talk their victims, Inspector Loyd argued in a victim impact statement.

“After [protesters] lost the line at Peace Circle, they established another police line at the base of the Lower West Terrace. This wasn’t good enough for the mob… they attacked [again]. I witnessed the most violent fighting in my 33-year career,” he told the judge, noting MPD officers responded without protective gear.

Loyd claimed his officers were attacked with “hammers,” “frozen water bottles,” and “poles” among other weapons and insisted police not only “the saved lives” of members of Congress, but rescued protesters that were in the fray.

“The mob made their way to the House chamber. Once again, myself and just a handful of officers established a police line at the House main door. One of my officers made a valiant attempt to reason with dozens of angry protesters, who once again breached our police line,” he said. “The strength of the door saved several protesters who would have been shot if that door had been breached.”

Lloyd recalled evacuating members of Congress while rioters breached the East side of the Capitol building.

“One protester tragically lost her life” during this breach, he noted, in reference to slain Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.  He then disputed allegations that police officers waved protesters into the building.

“A recent video emerged alleging my officers were ‘tour guides’ from 12:53 p.m. to approx 6 p.m.,” he said. “The mob was in control of the exterior. From 2:10 to 4:30, the mob controlled the interior. When a mob controls one-third of the US government, you’ll see disturbing videos of police being at the mercy of rioters.

“Some defendants have stated they assisted my personnel. This is the same method used by domestic violence [perpetrators] when they want to attack their victims.”

Enrique Tarrio, who was not in Washington DC during the Capitol riot. Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Ethan Nordean committed no violent crimes during the riot as they dodged rubber bullets, flash grenades and canisters of tear gas that police indiscriminately fired at demonstrators. They then walked through the Capitol building for approximately 20 minutes.

Dominic Pezzola found a police shield on the ground that he contends he used for protection during the blitz of lethal munitions by police and in a moment of rage, broke a window on the Senate wing side of the Capitol building before he walked through the building for approximately,

The government is seeking a 33-year prison sentence for Tarrio, 33 years for Joseph Biggs; 30 years for Zachary Rehl; 27 years for Nordean, and 20 years for Pezzola, the only defendant not convicted of seditious conspiracy.

Authoritarian Ruling Class Mulls Post-Civil War Measures To Bar Trump From The Presidency

Anti-Trump legal scholars have been arguing that the third clause of the 14th Amendment, a post-Civil War measure barring Confederates from holding public office after participating in an insurrection, can be used against Donald Trump. Attaching a broken boxcar to the back of this moving train, an Aug. 25 essay at Politico casually compares the case for 14th Amendment disqualification from the presidency to the disqualification of southern congressmen during the Civil War.

You may have already spotted a problem in that last sentence because the story Joshua Zeitz writes about Trump and the 14th Amendment has nothing to do with the 14th Amendment: It’s a story about the refusal of the House of Representatives to take notice of southern congressman in 1864, well before the Reconstruction amendments were ratified. With that in mind, go read it.

The subtext speaks louder than the text. Notice the framing; notice the language that colors the argument. Here’s how Zeitz describes the context for the 14th Amendment: “They had vanquished the Confederacy and compelled Southern states to remain in the Union.”

Here’s how he opens his description of the contest over who would be seated in the House in 1864:

These events alarmed and appalled most Republicans, and especially radicals like Rep. Thaddeus Stevens of Pennsylvania, the grim-faced, irascible “Dictator of the House.” With his piercing gaze and ruthless authority, Stevens, who served as chair of the Ways and Means Committee during the war, was also the unspoken floor leader for the House Republican caucus. He maintained tight control over the chamber, even as he advocated policies that were far more radical than his caucus in his desire to punish the South and impose Black political and economic equality. Stevens advanced the idea that the Southern states were “conquered territories,” their residents no longer citizens of the U.S. and certainly not entitled to govern themselves, let alone participate in the governance of the whole nation.

So what should we do about Donald Trump? Well, there’s this great moment in history in which a grim-faced dictator maintained tight control for the purpose of implementing radically punitive policies over conquered territories to dominate people who were not entitled to govern themselves

That’s the discussion we’re having. The people Angelo Codevilla called the American ruling class, the hegemonic academic-political-media hive people, are now casually discussing Trump and Trump voters as a conquered people who have to be dominated and kept out of the system of self-government. Because Trump is a dangerous authoritarian, you see.

Start looking for this unstated premise, and you’ll start finding it everywhere. There are no legitimate arguments to the right of Hakeem Jeffries; there is only dangerous Putin-influenced extremism that must be firmly suppressed. We are not engaged in anything resembling political debate.

White House Doesn’t Want ‘Big Guy’ Biden Impeached: ‘Would Be a Disaster’

Members of the Biden administration do not want President Joe Biden impeached, claiming it “would be a disaster” for Republicans if they mount the courage to open an impeachment inquiry, according to Breitbart News.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said Sunday an impeachment inquiry could be launched as soon as late September. Such an inquiry would allow lawmakers special power to compel relevant information in their Biden family probe.

“There’s a lot of questions still,” McCarthy said Sunday. “And to be able to get the answers to these questions, you would need an impeachment inquiry to empower Congress, Republicans, and Democrats to be able to get the answers that the American people deserve to know.”

White House spokesperson Ian Sams issued a statement this week warning that an “impeachment exercise” would backfire on Republicans.

“This baseless impeachment exercise would be a disaster for congressional Republicans, and don’t take our word for it: just listen to the chorus of their fellow Republicans who admit there is no evidence for their false allegations and that pursuing such a partisan stunt will ‘backfire,’” he said.

Just this week, news broke that the National Archives possesses about 5,400 emails and records linked to Biden’s email aliases. The Archives, under the control of the White House, refuses to provide the content of those emails and records.

Powerful allegations have mounted for years against the president. The allegations — including, but not limited to, photos, texts, an audio recording, and IRS and former business partner whistleblower testimonies:

Despite the allegations, some Republican lawmakers have not committed to investigating Biden.

“I don’t know how anybody will take us seriously if we can’t vote on impeachment inquiry,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told Breitbart News. “If you can’t vote for impeachment on Joe Biden, then how can you dare to even claim you’re willing to drain the swamp? You’re not!”

Chinese Parent Behind Company Building Michigan Battery Plants Employs 923 CCP Members

The Chinese parent company of Gotion Inc., which intends to build two electric battery plants in Michigan, employs 923 Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members, including its CEO, according to its 2022 ESG report.

The Fremont, California-based Gotion Inc. — which is “wholly owned and controlled” by Gotion High-Tech Power Energy Co., according to a Foreign Agents Registration Act filing — seeks to “invest $2.4 billion to construct two 550,000-square-foot production plants” for electric vehicle (EV) batteries in Big Rapids, Michigan, Fox News reported.

Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer supports Gotion’s plan, and the Biden administration approved the project in June. However, some Republicans have raised red flags over Gotion’s CCP ties through its parent company Gotion High-Tech.

While Gotion Inc.’s representatives deny CCP influence, Chinese-language documents show its Hefei-based parent company is led by a CCP member and employs hundreds more of them.

“Gotion High-Tech founded a CCP branch in 2010 that was upgraded to a CCP committee in 2014,” reads Gotion High-Tech’s 2022 ESG Report. “The CCP committee’s subunits are two CCP general branches and 11 party branches, currently with 923 CCP members, among which over 50% hold master’s degrees or higher.”

Gotion High-Tech’s CEO, Li Zhen, is also identified as the party secretary for the firm’s CCP committee within a section of the 2022 ESG report highlighting the company’s 2022 “party building work situation.”

“The company’s party secretary for its CCP committee, chairman of the board of directors, Li Zhen, led a portion of CCP member representatives, company leader groups and every level of core personnel on a road trip to Anhui province’s Jinzhai Revolutionary Martyr’s Memorial Tower, to tour the Red Army Memorial Hall and Jinzhai Revolutionary Museum,” the firm’s ESG report states.

Questions about Gotion’s CCP-ties arose after The Midwesterner reported that Gotion High-Tech’s “Articles of Association” state that: “The Company shall set up a Party organization and carry out Party activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Communist Party of China. The Company shall ensure necessary conditions for carrying out Party activities. The secretary of the Party committee shall be the chairman.”

In August 2023, Politico reported that Gotion’s North American manufacturing vice president Chuck Thelen criticized those who cited this language in the China-based parent company’s Articles of Association.

Thelen, Politico reported, has insisted that there is no such language in the U.S.-based company’s articles of incorporation. Thelen said the Chinese Communist Party has no presence in the North American company.

“‘The rumors that you’ve heard about us bringing communism to North America are just flat-out fear-mongering and really have nothing based in reality,’” Politico quoted Thelen as saying.

Likewise, an unnamed spokesperson for Gotion told Fox News: “Gotion Inc. makes it very clear in the [Foreign Agents Registration Act] filing that it is not supervised, directed, controlled or financed by any foreign government or foreign political party. … It’s unequivocally spelled out in the FARA document.”

However, lawmakers remain concerned, given that Gotion’s proposed Michigan battery plant will “be located within 60 miles of military armories and 100 miles from Camp Grayling, the country’s largest U.S. National Guard training facility,” Fox News reported.

Camp Grayling occupies 148,000 acres and hosts live-fire combat training exercises, according to its website.

Gotion did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Lessons from Lincoln for Our Current Crisis

This is a dark hour in our country. It is a time when cultural Marxists are trying to tear down our republic. The crisis revolving around Donald J. Trump may well impact the future of our country.

Love him or hate him, since when do politicians in the United States of America get arrested and charged by their opposition? Gary Varvel, the insightful political cartoonist, asks, “Is this the new America where we prosecute political opponents?”

It is a terrible precedent that is being set. These kinds of activities belong in Third World countries—not our country, one nation under God.

Some have noted that these prosecutors are trying to put Trump in prison for the rest of his life so that the prosecutors can run for higher office.

When Donald J. Trump was booked in a jail and had his glaring mugshot taken, he spoke afterwards, noting: “This is a really sad day for America. This should never happen. You should be able to challenge an election….As you know, you have many people you’ve been watching over the years do the same thing whether it’s Hillary Clinton or Stacey Abrams or many others….What they’re doing is election interference…There’s never been anything like it in our country before. This is their way of campaigning.”

Ben Shapiro writes: “All of this is quite terrible for the country. No matter what you think of Trump’s various legal imbroglios…the glass has now been broken over and over and over again: Political opponents can be targeted by legal enemies. It will not be unbroken. If you think that only Democratic district attorneys will play this game, you have another thing coming. Prepare for a future in which running for office carries the legal risk of going to jail—on all sides. Which means that only the worst and the most shameless will run for office.”

It’s a tragedy to have so many leading our country who don’t have the nation’s best interest at heart. But Calvin Coolidge warned us, “If good men don’t hold office, bad men will.”

Ronald Reagan once said, “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We’ll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.”

Is there any hope for our constitutional republic during times like this? I think we can find answers from President Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, delivered on March 4, 1865 in the final weeks of the Civil War, after he won a contentious battle for re-election.

Lincoln declared, “Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword as was said three thousand years ago so still it must be said ‘the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.’”

Dr. Daniel Dreisbach of American University once wrote an article on this classic speech, calling it, “Lincoln’s 700 Words of Biblical Meditation.”

Dreisbach writes: “Lincoln concludes with a humble, poetic plea to a people divided and devastated by war to eschew triumphalism and vindictiveness in victory and acrimony and recrimination in defeat: ‘With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in.’”

I interviewed Dr. Daniel Dreisbach on the subject of Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address and the Bible for a radio segment. He told our listeners how Lincoln learned to read and speak “from the very distinct cadences of the King James Bible. It was very much a part of who he was.” The Bible gives us hope for American renewal.

The founders gave us a system, as they explain in the Declaration of Independence, where we rule ourselves (“consent of the governed”) under God (we have been “endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable rights”). Self-rule under God.

In the Declaration, they add that they are “appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions”—they put their trust in the Lord.

Dreisbach says of Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address: “He calls on his countrymen to ‘bind up the nation’s wounds’ and to care for those left by the war fatherless and widowed. For only through the difficult work of reconciliation can there ever be a ‘just and lasting peace.’”

As a nation, we desperately need what Lincoln called for in his Gettysburg Address, “a new birth of freedom” as one nation “under God.”

The request suggests Joe Biden allowed his son to join trips to facilitate Hunter’s recruitment of foreign investments in the Biden brand.

Early Wednesday, the chair of the House Oversight Committee dispatched a follow-up letter to the national archivist requesting travel records and related documents from Joe Biden’s time as vice president. The documents request suggests that while vice president, Joe Biden allowed his son to accompany him on international trips to facilitate Hunter Biden’s recruitment of foreign investments in the Biden brand — adding more evidence to the already overwhelming mountain of material implicating the Biden family in a pay-to-play scandal.

Last week, Fox News reported that Hunter Biden traveled to at least 15 countries with his then-vice president father. And according to Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Devon Archer, during one official trip to China as vice president, Joe Biden met with at least one of his son’s business associates in Beijing. During other international trips, Hunter also worked to develop the Biden brand with various meetings and conversations.

Oversight Chair James Comer told The Federalist “then-Vice President Joe Biden abused Air Force Two by allowing his son to jet set around the world to sell ‘The Brand’ to enrich the Biden family.”

To uncover the details of what Comer calls “yet another example of then-Vice President Biden abusing his public office for his family’s financial gain,” the Oversight chair requested the national archivist provide the committee access to an array of documents that may reveal the extent of the scandal. In the letter, Comer sought access to the manifests for any Air Force Two or Marine Two flights on which other Biden family members or business associates, namely Eric Schwerin, Devon Archer, or Jeffrey Cooper, traveled during Joe Biden’s time as vice president. Comer also requested copies of “all documents and communications from the Executive Office of the President (including but not limited to the Office of the Vice President) to or regarding certain Biden family members or associates” and related to travel on the vice president’s aircraft. Intriguingly, the House Oversight chair also sought any documents concerning “security incidents” on Air Force Two or Marine Two during Biden’s vice presidency.

While it is unclear what the documents will reveal, a reference in a letter Comer sent the archivist about two weeks ago suggests the type of damning information that may be buried at the National Archives. In that earlier letter from Aug. 17, 2023, Comer requested copies of all the drafts of then-Vice President Biden’s Ukrainian speech on Dec. 9, 2015 — when Joe Biden first called out the supposed public corruption of the prosecutor he would later pressure the Ukrainian government to fire. Comer also sought all “documents or communications” that used Joe Biden’s various aliases, including Robert Peters, Robin Ware, and JRB Ware, as well as documents or communications that mentioned Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin, or Devon Archer, or included them as a sender, recipient, or carbon-copied recipient.

Further — and here’s the telling suggestion of the possible treasure trove awaiting in the archives — the Oversight Committee chair sought “unrestricted special access” to a document entitled “Email Messages To and/or From Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden related to Burisma and Ukraine.” While that document is available on the National Archives website, it remains redacted, so Comer is asking the archivist for access to the unredacted email and attachments.

On Thursday, a Maryland district court sent a clear message to parents at Montgomery County Public Schools: you don’t get a say in what your kids read at school. Or more specifically, as the court concluded, a parent’s right to opt out of a public school curriculum that “conflicts with their religious views is not a fundamental right.” The ruling was a shock to parents, the majority of them Muslim and Ethiopian Christians, who supported a federal lawsuit against the Montgomery County Board of Education earlier this summer in response to new requirements that their children—many as young as prekindergarten age—would be mandated to read (or have teachers read them) books about LGBT topics, regardless of their parents’ objections. “It’s very disrespectful,” Shaykh El Hadji Sall, the parent of three children who attend a school in the system, told me at a rally organized by parents Thursday. “It’s ignoring the will of the people” (Free Press).

A panel of independent advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will meet on September 12th, 2023 to make recommendations on updated COVID-19 vaccines ahead of the fall season, according to a U.S. government website on Friday.

This panel is another effort to impact the 2024 elections as it did the 2020 election.

In an August 30, 2023 article Reason article titled Don’t Bring Back COVID Authoritarianism wrote,

People should be free to choose how cautious to be. Mask mandates, lockdowns, and closing schools won’t stop the virus.

COVID-19 cases are up. Hospitalizations climbed 24 percent last week.

But the media make everything seem scarier than it is. The headline “Up 24 Percent!” comes after dramatic lows. Hospitalizations are still less than half what they were when President Joe Biden said, “The pandemic is over.”

Yet the shallow media keep pounding away: “It may be time to break out the masks,” headlined CNN.

Frightened people believe. The movie studio Lionsgate reinstated an office mask mandate. Atlanta’s Morris Brown College mandated masks and even banned parties.

This month, several school districts in Kentucky and Texas closed. “The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and community is a top priority,” said the school superintendent in Texas.

But kids rarely get very sick from COVID, and schools aren’t COVID hotspots. Studies on tens of thousands of people found “no consistent relationship between in-person K-12 schooling and the spread of the coronavirus.”

A Lancet study found Florida had the 12th-fewest excess COVID deaths in the country, even though Florida students went back to school without masks relatively soon.

At least Texas’ and Kentucky’s closures were isolated and brief. Long-term closures during the pandemic brought America’s lowest math and reading scores in decades. Florida’s kids suffered less learning loss than kids in other states.

Deported Eight Times, Migrant Sex Offender with Vast Criminal Record Enters U.S. Again

In a disturbing case that illustrates the gravity of the security lapses along the southwest border, an illegal immigrant sex offender with an extensive criminal record and previously deported eight times was caught entering the country yet again through Mexico. His name is Elvis Cristian Hernandez-Ayala and the U.S. Border Patrol recently caught him trying to bypass a checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas. Agents arrested the 37-year-old criminal migrant and three others as they walked through a ranch not far from the border.

When Hernandez-Ayala was further vetted authorities confirmed he had been previously removed from the United States eight times following convictions for felony possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and sexual assault. A few days ago, a Trump appointed federal judge in Texas, David S. Morales, sentenced Hernandez-Ayala to 37 months in federal prison for returning to the U.S. without permission, the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed in an announcement that says the migrant pleaded guilty. In the document the DOJ writes that Hernandez-Ayala was on supervised release for a prior illegal re-entry conviction and that he also got slapped with a 12-month prison sentence for that violation.

During the criminal migrant’s most recent court hearing, federal prosecutors presented evidence about Hernandez-Ayala’s frequent illegal re-entries and what the DOJ calls a “troubling criminal history,” that includes convictions for sexual assault involving the rape of another illegal alien in a stash house. Hernandez-Ayala is expected to be transferred to a yet to be determined federal prison to serve his sentence. As if it needs to be spelled out, the DOJ writes in its recent announcement that, because Hernandez-Ayala is “not a U.S. citizen, he is expected to face removal proceedings” following his imprisonment. Based on his history and the famously porous southern border, Hernandez-Ayala will likely return.

A growing number of illegal immigrants that enter the U.S. through Mexico have criminal records like Hernandez-Ayala. In fact, in the last few years the figure has surged dramatically. In 2021 the Border Patrol arrested twice as many criminal aliens during a six-month period alone than in all of the previous year. Among them were 982 convicted of possessing illegal drugs or trafficking, 576 convicted of assault, battery, and domestic violence, 832 guilty of driving under the influence, 381 convicted of burglary, robbery, larceny, theft, and fraud, 265 sex offenders and 162 guilty of Illegal weapons possession, transport, and trafficking. The government stats also reveal that thousands of the criminal aliens arrested in the first half of the fiscal year were previously deported after illegal entry or illegal reentry just like Hernandez-Ayala.

A few years earlier, federal authorities disclosed that over 90% of illegal aliens arrested in the U.S. had criminal convictions or pending charges. They included 56,000 assaults and thousands of sex crimes, robberies, homicides and kidnappings. Many had “extensive criminal histories with multiple convictions,” according to a report issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE). The 123,128 illegal aliens arrested by the agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in 2019 had an alarming 489,063 criminal convictions and pending charges, according to agency records. That translates to an average of four crimes per alien, highlighting the “recidivist nature” of the arrested migrants, the agency points out, noting that sanctuary cities nationwide greatly impeded its public safety efforts by shielding even the most violent illegal aliens from deportation.

Biden Admin Seeks Long-Term Ukraine Aid Plan To Prevent Next President From Scaling Back Funding

The Biden administration is seeking to hammer out a long-term Ukraine aid agreement with European allies in hopes of both preventing Russia from gaining an edge on the battlefield and hamstringing a future president’s ability to scale back U.S. commitments, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

The scheme emerged during sideline talks among Group of Seven leaders at a NATO summit in July, and so far involves negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine, and between the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Ukraine, according to the WSJ. It’s an attempt, in part, to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin he can simply wait until a new American administration, as several top GOP political contenders have expressed intention to reduce or eliminate U.S. aid that makes up the brunt of Western support.

Building up Kyiv’s defense forces in the long term can theoretically deter Russia from invading again, officials calculated, according to the WSJ.

Former President Donald Trump has maintained a lead in Republican primary candidate polling and could face a second showdown with President Joe Biden in the 2024 election. Trump has claimed he could solve the war “within 24 hours.”

At the first Republican primary debate Wednesday, several candidates indicated they would support drawing down aid for Ukraine.

Eighteen countries not belonging to the G-7 wealthy democracies, including the Netherlands and Sweden, have also agreed to the long-term security assistance pledge for Ukraine, according to the WSJ.

European capitals want to cement support and restrict ways countries could renege on pledges, fearing what might happen during a second Trump administration, according to the WSJ. At present, Western European nations lack the industrial and financial capacity to match the billions in annual military aid provided by the U.S.

Since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. has devoted more than $40 billion worth of weapons and equipment, as well as training and investment into U.S. weapons companies, for the purpose of aiding Ukraine’s resistance. The aid has exposed weaknesses in American military readiness and industrial base capacity, provoking criticism that the U.S. should be using those funds to shore up defenses with an eye toward China as the war in Ukraine drags on with no end in sight.

However, the practical workings of the agreement pose significant hurdles to the Biden administration’s goals, the WSJ reported, citing officials. A sitting president has limited ability to bind his successor to any initiative or policy.

The State Department led the first U.S. meeting on the initiative on Aug. 3, involving Ukrainian officials and representatives from the White House and the Pentagon, according to the WSJ. U.S. officials hope to convene a second meeting soon.

France expects to begin negotiations in the coming weeks, a senior French official told the WSJ.

“Our bilateral security commitments will focus on ensuring Ukraine has a sustainable force capable of defending Ukraine now and deterring Russian aggression in the future,” the State Department told the WSJ.

So far, no party has yet decided what the agreement will actually look like, according to the WSJ.

President Joe Biden may have used pseudonyms in nearly 5,400 emails, electronic records and documents when he was vice president, a bombshell letter from the National Archives and Records Administration reveals.

The trove of communications was confirmed after the Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for emails connected to aliases allegedly used by Biden, including Robin Ware, Robert L. Peters, and JRB Ware.

Republicans have been demanding the release of the emails they say could show Biden used the names to discuss foreign business with his son and share information on countries where he was doing deals.

The White House has insisted Biden was never in business with his son, and vice presidents and high-level government officials often use pseudonyms to prevent being inundated with spam and emails from the public.

At the time, the Obama administration dismissed criticism the communications were ‘secret’ because they were all archived.

But the sheer volume of emails raises questions over whether then-VP Biden broke the ‘absolute wall’ he said he maintained between the ‘the personal and private, and the government’.

Emails from Hunter’s laptop also reveal business partners referred to Biden as the ‘big guy’.

The National Archives and Records Administration acknowledged it has about 5,400 emails that potentially show President Joe Biden hid behind phony names while vice president, the New York Post is reporting.

The existence of the records was confirmed by the NARA and came in response to a June 2022 Freedom of Information Act request by the Southeastern Legal Foundation.

Specifically, the SLF, a nonprofit constitutional legal group, requested emails relating to the accounts of Robin Ware, Robert L. Peters, and JRB Ware — pseudonyms Joe Biden was known to use in the White House during his time as vice president under Barack Obama, the Post said.

The legal foundation sued the NARA for the release of the records on Monday. The group claims the records could show Joe Biden may have provided government information to his son, Hunter Biden.

Kimberly Hermann, SLF general counsel, said in a statement: “All too often, public officials abuse their power by using it for their personal or political benefit. When they do, many seek to hide it. The only way to preserve governmental integrity is for NARA to release Joe Biden’s nearly 5,400 emails to SLF and thus the public. The American public deserves to know what is in them.”

Stephannie Oriabure, director of NARA’s archival operations division, wrote the SLF on June 24, 2022, saying: “We have performed a search of our collection for vice presidential records related to your [June 9, 2022] request and have identified approximately 5,138 email messages, 25 electronic files and 200 pages of potentially responsive records that must be processed in order to respond to your request,” according to the lawsuit.

The SLF said none of the emails or documents have been turned over to the group.

U.S. Intelligence Says Ukraine’s Offensive a Failure

The US intelligence community says Ukraine’s offensive has failed by not reaching its stated objective, to take the city of Melitopol.

According to a report in the Washington Post, Ukraine has sought to cut off Crimea from Russia’s army in southern Ukraine. In parallel to that, Ukraine, with US and British help, has been attacking the Kerch Strait bridge that connects Russia to Crimea. While these attacks have damaged the roadway of the bridge, it is still in use.

In fact, the critical fighting is around the village of Robotyne, which is more than 5o miles (80.5 kilometers) from Melitopol. Here the Ukrainians have committed their best-trained strategic reserve forces, including the Ukrainian 82nd Airborne.

Using Western equipment – British Challenger II tanks, Marder (Schützenpanzer Marder 1) infantry fighting vehicles, US Stryker eight-wheeled tanks, Bradley Infantry fighting vehicles and US-built Mine Resistant Ambush Protected heavily armed transports (MRAPs) – the objective was to break through Russian defenses and race to Melitopol.

While the Ukrainians made some temporary gains, these attacks have been extremely costly in men and material. For the most part, the Russians have rolled back the attacking forces.

(If you want to amuse yourself, there are countless stories online that say the Challenger tanks will roll right through the Russians. It hasn’t happened.)

Committing reserves to the battle is a desperate move by Ukraine’s army. Should the reserves take heavy losses, as now seems to be the case, they won’t remain effective fighting units. This could doom Ukrainian plans to continue the war.

Ukraine has no manpower to replace its strategic reserves. Most of the pool of educated youths who might be drafted either bribed their way out of recruitment or left the country.

Zelensky this week fired all the military recruiters in the country. He is trying to enlist the army to carry out recruitment drives in the country, using whatever means necessary. There is now talk about grabbing men 40 years old or older for the war machine; many of the soldiers seen in the field appear already over-aged.

Even if Ukraine manages to scrape up men for the army, without training they are more a burden than anything else. Furthermore, scraping the bottom of the barrel brings in unreliable soldiers who may not want to fight.

That’s a critical problem for Ukrainian officers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs), who not only need to bring recruits up to speed but also must convince them to step into the “meat grinder” and risk their lives. Even now there are examples of units that have refused to participate in engagements they regarded as suicidal.

The Russian strategy has been one of active defense in almost all sectors. The exception is in the Kharkiv oblast, where the Russians are rapidly advancing and will soon attack the town of Kupyansk, a key railway hub that Ukraine needs for running ammunition and supplies to its troops in the northeast. Many observers think Kupyansk will fall in the coming week or so.

Russia says it has not started its own offensive, but is preparing to do so. It has gathered around 100,000 troops in the northeast that could be deployed in a coming offensive. Convoys of equipment have also been seen and filmed, so the buildup process is underway. What is less clear is where Russia is going.

Some think that Russia will aim for Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine. However, the Russian army has other options: it could try and trap Ukraine’s main army from the north and south, once the Ukrainian offensive peters out. This would endanger the country and could trigger an existential crisis for Kiev.

  • The ASMRs for deaths involving COVID-19 have been consistently lower for all months since fourth dose or extra booster in spring 2022 for people who had received at least a fourth dose or extra booster at least 21 days ago, compared with unvaccinated people and those with just a first or second dose.
  • However, the ASMRs for deaths involving COVID-19 have been higher for all months since the introduction of fourth dose or extra booster in spring 2022 for people who had received at least a fourth dose or extra booster at least 21 days ago, compared with people who have had a third dose or booster; this is likely because of fourth doses or extra boosters being targeted at vulnerable populations.
  • The ASMRs for first and second vaccine doses have been similar to those for unvaccinated people from March 2022 onwards; however, the confidence limits are wide for these groups because of lower populations in these vaccination statuses.
  • The ASMRs are not equivalent to measures of vaccine effectiveness; they account for differences in age structure and population size, but there may be other differences between the groups (particularly underlying health) that affect mortality rates.
  • Non-COVID-19 mortality rates are similar, though slightly lower, in people who have had a third dose or booster compared with unvaccinated people in the latter half of 2022 and in 2023.

Non-COVID-19 mortality rates for first and second doses are more likely to be affected by confounding factors in the latter half of 2022 and in 2023 as these are people who did not receive a booster when eligible and therefore may differ from the general population. In this release ASMRs for deaths involving coronavirus (COVID-19) for people who have had a third dose are now much lower for the same periods compared with the previous release (February 2023). Many people who were classified as having had a third dose in the previous release likely already had a fourth dose, which was not captured in the data. In this release these people are now correctly captured as having received a fourth dose.

On August 24th, 2023 President Donald J. Trump flew to Atlanta, Georgia to be arrested, booked and have a mug taken of him, like MLK, Jr.

Ironically, sixty years ago this month, on August 28th, 1963, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where over a quarter million people had gathered along the great reflecting pool to advance the cause of civil rights, especially equal justice under the law.

Since the release of that mugshot of Trump there has been a wave of social media posts expressing outrage, primarily from black Americans.

QUESTION: Why?

ANSWER: Because blacks have, like Trump, been victims of a biased and unfair justice system in America.

Upon leaving his booking in Atlanta, Georgia President Trump’s motorcade took a detour through urban, poor neighborhoods. The reaction and support from those living in these communities, primarily black families, was the reason he’s now one of them. Many of them have been booked, like Trump, on false charges.

On April 25, 2019 Adrianne Haney from the Associated Press wrote this about what is happening in Atlanta, Georgia,

Trump spoke at an annual conference of health, law enforcement, elected and other officials who work to combat drug abuse and addiction, and used the appearance to advocate for the wall he wants to build on the U.S.-Mexico border, saying it will help keep drugs out of the U.S. His wife, Melania, introduced him.

During the summit, President Donald Trump pledged to battle the deadly epidemic of opioid drug abuse “until our job is done” and he claimed progress even though it is unclear whether the crisis has diminished.

“My administration is deploying every resource at our disposal to empower you, to support you and to fight right by your side,” Trump said. “We will not solve this epidemic overnight but we will stop. … We will never stop until our job is done.”

Opioid abuse claimed a record of nearly 48,000 American lives in 2017. An estimated 2 million people are addicted to the drugs, which include both legal prescription pain medications and illegal drugs such as heroin.

While prescription opioids initially accounted for most deaths, the epidemic is now driven by illicit heroin and fentanyl. Those two drugs were implicated in the vast majority of opioid overdoses reported in 2017, according to federal figures.

Georgia’s overdose numbers are just as alarming. Between 2010 and 2017, opioid deaths in Georgia jumped 245 percent — accounting for more than 1,000 deaths in 2017 alone.

It’s not restricted by socio-economic status, region, or neighborhood type. Traffickers often exploit areas where they believe they won’t be suspected or caught.

Myth 4: If they wanted to leave, they could.

Reality: Many assume that victims of trafficking can easily leave their situations if they wanted. However, traffickers often use manipulation, threats, violence, and other coercive tactics to control and keep their victims from seeking help.

Myth 5: Trafficking involves moving across borders.

Reality: Trafficking doesn’t always involve the transportation of victims across state or national borders. It can occur within the same state, city, or community.

Myth 6: Trafficking children can be easily identified.

Reality: The truth is, most victims are scripted and show subtle signs that may not be obvious to most. Many may overlook a child who is attending their school or church, unwitting to the harsh reality that child may be facing in their home life.

Myth 7: Law enforcement can easily spot and handle trafficking.

Reality: Trafficking cases can be complex, and specialized training is often needed to recognize and handle them appropriately.

Myth 8: Traffickers are sinister strangers: 

Reality: It’s a common belief that traffickers are always unknown to the victim. In many instances, traffickers can be family members, friends, or acquaintances who exploit the trust and vulnerability of the child.

Myth 9: ​​Child trafficking is only for sexual exploitation.

Reality: While sexual exploitation is rampant, children face trafficking for many sinister purposes, including forced labor and organ trafficking.

Myth 10: Only girls are trafficked.

Reality: Trafficking doesn’t discriminate by gender. Boys are also victims of trafficking for both sexual and labor exploitation.

Echoes of Trauma: Effects on Child Trafficking Survivors

A. Psychological Trauma:

  • Deep-rooted trauma and PTSD become a part of many trafficked children’s lives. This impacts their mental health, relationships, self worth, and perspective of the world.
  • What may seem normal or even comforting to the average person may be very off putting and even distressing for survivors. Compassion, grace, and understanding, along with quality trauma-informed therapy are paramount to supporting a survivor’s healing journey.
  • If untreated, the persistent trauma can lead to long-term mental and physical health challenges.

B. Physical Aftermath:

  • Trafficked children frequently face health complications and injuries from their experiences. Many have lasting physical symptoms even decades after the trauma.
  • Many victims were deprived of basic needs and suffered additional trauma due to subpar living conditions.
  • Survivors may take a while to get comfortable around other people, especially crowds or strangers, and feel safe in their surroundings.

Our Collective Role Against Trafficking:

  • Government Measures: Strengthen and enforce laws, amplify awareness, and establish dedicated local and federal task forces.
  • Community Vigilance: By spotting and reporting suspicious activities, communities can reduce the predator’s ability to operate and prevent countless children from trauma.
  • Personal Duty: Awareness, support, and action. Support the organizations on the front lines of the fight against child trafficking in the USA.
