Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin Orders the Renaming of All Military Bases & Assets Honoring the Confederacy

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” — George Orwell, 1984

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” ― George Orwell, 1984

Austin orders renaming of military bases, assets honoring the Confederacy

Stars and Stripes • October 6, 2022

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday directed senior defense leaders to begin changing the names of military bases and assets honoring the Confederacy, bringing the Pentagon in line with recommendations issued by a congressional commission.

Austin said he agreed with the findings of the Naming Commission, a group convened by Congress to purge the military of commemorative references to the Confederacy, and is committed to implementing the renaming plan as soon as possible.

“The installations and facilities that our department operates are … powerful public symbols of our military,” Austin wrote in a memo to senior officials. “The names of these installations and facilities should inspire all those who call them home, fully reflect the history and the values of the United States and commemorate the best of the republic that we are all sworn to protect.”

The secretary said he established a working group to review the commission’s report, develop a plan of action and oversee the full implementation of the renaming recommendations. Defense Department leaders and the service branches must hold off until Dec. 18 to begin part of the process due to a mandatory 90-day waiting period required by Congress. Changes to the Pentagon’s memorialization and naming processes can begin immediately, however.

Commissioners spent 18 months reviewing more than 1,100 assets linked to the Confederacy, including installations, ships, monuments, symbols and paraphernalia. Their first report called for the renaming of nine Army bases: Fort Benning in Georgia, Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Gordon in Georgia, Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Lee in Virginia, Fort Pickett in Virginia, Fort Polk in Louisiana and Fort Rucker in Alabama.

The second report focused on assets at the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy, recommending West Point take down a famous portrait of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, while the third and final report addressed all other property under the jurisdiction of the Defense Department.

The list of recommended changes includes the renaming of guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville, which was recently deployed to the East Sea to carry out exercises with Japan and South Korea amid provocations by North Korea, and the stripping of the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia to its base.

It is projected to cost an estimated $62.5 million to carry out the renaming work.

“The department’s implementation of the commission’s recommendations … will give proud new names that are rooted in their local communities and that honor American heroes whose valor, courage and patriotism exemplify the very best of the United States military,” Austin wrote.

U.S. State GDPs Compared to Entire Countries

It’s pretty difficult to even comprehend how ridiculously large the US economy is.

Click here to view the U.S. State GDPs Compared to Entire Countries map.

The map above (click to view and enlarge) matches the economic output (Gross Domestic Product) for each US state (and the District of Columbia) in 2018 to a foreign country with a comparable nominal GDP last year, using data from the BEA for GDP by US state (average of Q2 and Q3 state GDP, since Q4 data aren’t yet available) and data for GDP by country from the International Monetary Fund. Like in past years, for each US state (and the District of Columbia), I’ve identified the country closest in economic size in 2018 (measured by nominal GDP) and those matching countries are displayed in the map above and in the table below. Obviously, in some cases, the closest match was a country that produced slightly more, or slightly less, economic output in 2018 than a given US state.

It’s pretty difficult to even comprehend how ridiculously large the US economy is, and the map above helps put America’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $20.5 trillion ($20,500,000,000,000) in 2018 into perspective by comparing the economic size (GDP) of individual US states to other country’s entire national output. For example:

  1. America’s largest state economy is California, which produced nearly $3 trillion of economic output in 2018, more than the United Kingdom’s GDP last year of $2.8 trillion. Consider this: California has a labor force of 19.6 million compared to the labor force in the UK of 34 million (World Bank data here). Amazingly, it required a labor force 75% larger (and 14.5 million more people) in the UK to produce the same economic output last year as California! That’s a testament to the superior, world-class productivity of the American worker. Further, California as a separate country would have been the 5th largest economy in the world last year, ahead of the UK ($2.81 trillion), France ($2.79 trillion) and India ($2.61 trillion).
  2. America’s second largest state economy—Texas—produced nearly $1.8 trillion of economic output in 2018, which would have ranked the Lone Star State as the world’s 10th largest economy last year. GDP in Texas was slightly higher than Canada’s GDP last year of $1.73 trillion. However, to produce about the same amount of economic output as Texas required a labor force in Canada (20.1 million) that was nearly 50% larger than the labor force in the state of Texas (13.9 million). That is, it required a labor force of 6.2 million more workers in Canada to produce roughly the same output as Texas last year. Another example of the world-class productivity of the American workforce.
  3. America’s third largest state economy—New York with a GDP in 2018 of $1.68 trillion—produced slightly more economic output last year than South Korea ($1.65 trillion). As a separate country, New York would have ranked as the world’s 11th largest economy last year, ahead of No. 12 South Korea, No. 13 Russia ($1.57 trillion) and No. 14 Spain ($1.43 trillion). Amazingly, it required a labor force in South Korea of 28 million that was nearly three times larger than New York’s (9.7 million) to produce roughly the same amount of economic output last year! More evidence of the world-class productivity of American workers.
  4. Other comparisons: Florida (about $1 trillion) produced almost the same amount of GDP in 2018 as Mexico ($1.19  trillion), even though Florida’s labor force of 10.2 million less than 20% of the size of Mexico’s workforce of 59 million.
  5. Even with all of its oil wealth, Saudi Arabia’s GDP in 2018 at $683 billion was below the GDP of US states like Pennsylvania ($793 billion) and Illinois ($863 billion).

Overall, the US produced 24.3% of world GDP in 2017, with only about 4.3% of the world’s population. Four of America’s states (California, Texas, New York and Florida) produced more than $1 trillion in output and as separate countries would have ranked in the world’s top 16 largest economies last year. Together, those four US states produced nearly $7.5 trillion in economic output last year, and as a separate country would have ranked as the world’s third-largest economy.

Adjusted for the size of the workforce, there might not be any country in the world that produces as much output per worker as the US, thanks to the world-class productivity of the American workforce. The map above and the statistics summarized here help remind us of the enormity of the economic powerhouse we live and work in.

So let’s not lose sight of how ridiculously large and powerful the US economy is, and how much wealth, output, and prosperity is being created every day in the largest economic engine there has ever been in human history. This comparison is also a reminder that it was largely free markets, free trade, and capitalism that propelled the US from a minor British colony in the 1700s into a global economic superpower and the world’s largest economy, with individual US states producing the equivalent economic output of entire countries.

What’s the Most Important Issue for the Liberty Movement to Focus On?

There are many great candidates, but there’s one that stands above the rest.

One of the problems with large social movements is that it can be difficult to figure out which issues to focus on, and the liberty movement is no exception. There are thousands of ways the government has inserted itself into our lives, and each of them represents an opportunity for change in a pro-liberty direction.

The good news is that we have thousands of libertarians, many of whom have picked their own niche topics of interest to focus on, which means we can fight this battle on multiple fronts simultaneously. But while the decentralized nature of this movement is certainly one of its strengths, it sometimes makes it hard to build momentum on the topics that are more important.

The question then arises, if we wanted to pick a specific topic to emphasize, which topic should that be? Stated differently, what issue is the most important when it comes to scaling back government intrusion in our lives?

To help us decide, let’s take a look at some of the top contenders, in no particular order.

One of the biggest issues with the US government is undoubtedly its Military Industrial Complex. The $782 billion defense budget is a massive waste of resources, and the civil liberties violations associated with the surveillance state are nothing to scoff at either. Add in war and all other kinds of foreign intervention, and it becomes pretty clear just how big this problem has become.

Barriers to immigration may not be something we think about every day, but they have life-changing consequences for millions of people. Lifting these barriers would not only be a win for human rights, it would also provide tremendous economic benefits as people take advantage of the opportunities that become available.

I still remember the day I first found out America had the highest incarceration rate in the world. I was stunned then and I remain stunned to this day. The War on Drugs in particular has put thousands of people behind bars for non-violent offenses, and harmful practices like civil asset forfeiture and no-knock raids are commonplace. Countless lives have been needlessly destroyed because of this inhumane system.

While social issues often get the spotlight, economic issues are arguably just as important, especially when it comes to the Federal Reserve. As Ron Paul has regularly pointed out, central banking has been responsible for so much of the corruption, war, and poverty that we have seen in recent decades, and anyone who’s been keeping an eye on rising prices can tell you just how much damage it can cause.

Free expression is one of the pillars of a free society. Without the freedom to say and publish what we see fit, we have no means of calling attention to injustice or arguing for our ideas. Fortunately, free speech has many protections in the US, but we’d be naive to think this means we’re in the clear. Government pressure has already prompted Big Tech platforms to censor many important discussions, and surveys show Americans increasingly support the government stepping in to restrict “false information” online. If public dialogue breaks down even more, the consequences could be serious.

Many argue the Second Amendment is the key to defending every other liberty, and they have a point. As history has shown time and again, it’s hard to tyrannize an armed population. At the end of the day, those who have a means of defending themselves will have a far better chance of preserving their liberties than those who don’t.

Though all of the issues mentioned above are important, the issue that takes the top spot in my books is one I haven’t mentioned yet.

Education.

The main reason education is so important is that it is the key to all the rest. The first step for achieving change on any issue is teaching people about it. And we will struggle to do that effectively as long as the government has a virtual monopoly on teaching the next generation.

Think about it. Kids spend 12 years of their life in government schools, learning government-approved history, geography, literature, economics, and civics, being taught to obey authority, standing for the national anthem and reciting the pledge of allegiance. We’re talking 50 million kids in any given year. This isn’t some minor intrusion in our lives. There’s a public school in just about every neighborhood in America.

In addition to public schools being generally pro-government by their very nature, there is also evidence they tend to have a distinct “big-government” bent. For instance, among high school teachers in the US there are 87 Democrats for every 13 Republicans. For English teachers, the ratio is 97 Democrats for every three Republicans.

In his book The Corrupt Classroom, education researcher Lance Izumi summarizes the state of public education in this regard. “Far from being mere anecdotal incidents—and there are a lot of these—,” he writes, “political bias is becoming systemic in public school systems and has turned many public schools into indoctrination centers for progressive ideologies and causes.”

Of course, there’s no guarantee private schooling will be a panacea for these biases, but there is evidence it might be able to help.

Aside from the clear indoctrination potential, there are also profound social and economic problems with public schooling. On the social side, compulsory schooling laws represent a fairly significant civil liberties violation. We don’t often think of it this way, but statutes regulating education are ultimately coercive and thus interfere with the freedom of parents, educators, and students to teach and learn as they see fit.

Economically, public education is of course one of the biggest government expenditures, but it’s also a tremendous waste of kids’ time and potential. So many opportunities for growth and learning (and in the long run, economic productivity) are crushed because of this regimented system that tries to force every kid into the same box.

So what can we do about it?

Clearly, we need to go after the government schooling system with well-crafted arguments and sound reasoning. But just as importantly, we need to be creating alternatives: private schools, homeschool networks, YouTube channels, blogs, podcasts, TV shows, conferences, seminars, webinars, articles, books…all of it. As John Taylor Gatto once said, “there isn’t a right way to become educated; there are as many ways as fingerprints.”

In short, we need to take education back into our own hands. Free speech and gun rights and all the other issues are great, but the way we make progress on them is by committing to learn and to teach, not just as kids, but as adults too. Because it’s only by teaching and learning that we will win each of these individual battles, and ultimately, the war for freedom.

Putin: Crazy like a Fox?

Recently, Professor Victor Davis Hanson said of President Biden:

“An addled and non-compos mentis Joe Biden only nominally remains the leader of the West.”

Hanson describes President Putin as,

“Aged, ailing and paranoid.”

For the leaders of two of the world’s nuclear powers to be out of their minds at the same time does not bode well for humankind. But Biden* might not be the first deranged U.S. President.

Dr. Sigmund Freud thought President Woodrow Wilson was, at times, deranged. In 1966, Dr. Freud, and former U.S. Ambassador William C. Bullitt, co-authored: Thomas Woodrow Wilson: A Psychological Study. The authors claimed that Wilson’s Super Ego sabotaged the Treaty of Versailles and prevented Wilson from accepting the reasonable compromises offered by U.S. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge with regard to the League of Nations Treaty. For sure, Wilson had a medical history of debilitating strokes. For the last two years of his presidency a major stroke put his second wife, Edith Galt Wilson, in virtual charge of the White House. Wilson’s well-documented rants against African-Americans add context to the idea that Woodrow Wilson was mentally ill for part of his life.

Fast forward to Vladimir Putin whose failing health and paranoia do not disqualify Putin from being crazy like a fox. Putin, like the late Rodney Dangerfield, complains,

“I don’t get no respect.”

But he should. After all, Russia saved Western Europe from the Mongol hoards, defeated Napoleon, and defeated Hitler when the Allies who, without Stalin’s Russia, did not have enough military power to defeat Hitler.

Although Napoleon looted Moscow for 36 days, the even more militarily powerful Germans have twice almost brought the totality of Mother Russia to her knees. Recall, In 1914, the Germans humiliated Russia at the Battle of Tannenberg. Many Russians believe there is something in the German character that compels them to militarize and march to the East, in search of lebensraum. Recall, crushing Poland in its path, German military might charged for Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad, killing millions of Russians and scorching the earth along the way.

Maybe a vengeful Putin is using his invasion of Ukraine toward a larger objective: the total destruction of Germany’s ability to ever attack Russia again. But wait, even a feebly-led U.S. cannot permit NATO-member Germany to be destroyed. So, maybe Ukraine is a diversion away from gas pipelines being shut down and even sabotaged. Ergo: Putin may have opted for a “strategy of the indirect approach” Chess game:

Chess move one, fund Germany’s Green Movement. Then, induce the Germans to shut down all coal-fired and nuclear-powered energy sources, relying solely on solar and wind. Chess move two, once Germany is totally dependent on Russia for heat, wait for Old Man Winter. Rather than freeze to death, the Germans might agree to leave NATO, dismiss their armed forces, and dismantle their defense industry. The U.S. and NATO would be helpless to stop such a process.

But Putin’s plan — assuming this is it — isn’t working. Instead. Germany is drawing closer to NATO. Thus, a castrated Germany is probably not the bequest the aging, ailing, and paranoid Putin will be able to leave to Mother Russia.

Nota Bene: As Mike Tyson said,

U.S. Adds Fewest Jobs This Year As Labor Market Cools

The U.S. labor market cooled once again in September, adding the fewest jobs this calendar year, according to a Friday morning report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), fueling investor hopes that the Federal Reserve might reduce the intensity of its anti-inflation campaign.

The U.S. added 263,000 jobs in August, slightly higher than investor expectations, a meaningful drop from August’s addition of 315,000, and half the 528,000 added in Julyaccording to the BLS. The unemployment rate edged down to 3.5% in September, from 3.7% in August, with 5.8 million Americans currently unemployed, beating investor expectations.

The decline in job growth is another sign that the red-hot labor market is beginning to cool after job openings plunged 10% to 10 million in September from 11.1 million in August, according to a Tuesday BLS report. This slowdown is likely to be welcomed by investors, who hope that loosening labor conditions might prompt the Federal Reserve to reduce the intensity of its anti-inflation campaign, according to CNBC.

Members of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Fed group that sets its policy on interest rates, have been consistent in their messaging that high interest rates and elevated levels of inflation are expected to last at least another several months. The battle against inflation is still “in the early days,” said President Raphael Bostic of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, according to CNBC.

Wages grew by 5% over the past 12 months in September without accounting for inflation, according to the BLS. In August, wages were up 5.2% over the previous 12 months, without accounting for inflation, but once inflation and a reduction in the average hours worked were considered, earnings actually decreased by 2.8% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Despite the stronger wage growth due to the tightness of the labor market, a majority of workers are finding their wages falling even further behind inflation,” Fed researchers wrote in a Tuesday report on wage growth published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on Tuesday.

A small minority of workers saw significant real wage growth, while the proportion of workers who saw wages decline fell slightly from pandemic-era highs to 53.4%, the highest rate since 2011, the Fed researchers reported. Amongst those that saw wages decline, the median decline was 8.6%, far greater than the typical range of a 5.7% to 6.8% decline seen in the past 25 years.

Earnings data for September is due on Sept. 13, alongside inflation data in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of the inflation faced by typical urban households in the U.S.

Florida, In 32 Days You Vote For A Builder Or Bullsh**er—Choose Wisely

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis leads a three day rebuilding of hurricane ravaged bridges.

Watch as Governor Ron DeSantis came to Frank Rendon Park in Daytona Beach Shores on Friday, October 7 to give an update on Florida’s extraordinary recovery effort following the catastrophic damage left by the path of Hurricane Ian across the Florida peninsula.

Here are a few more tweets to help understand what Governor DeSantis is really doing for the people of the Sunshine state:

While Charlie Crist works on a three day suntan.

Charlie Crist’s campaign is based on name calling not his record in Congress or his voting consistently in support of every Pelosi/Schumer/Biden policy, e.g. open borders, grooming children for sex with pedophiles, pederasts and perverts, getting oil from a dictator in Venezuela, pro-abortionist, pro-defund the police, pro-higher taxes, pro-BLM and voted for policies which have lead to a nationwide economic recession and bull stock market.

Here’s Charlie saying I don’t want your vote. We agree, we won’t be voting for him.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous: Washington Edition

Federal prosecutors are considering charges against Hunter Biden for failing to report income and lying about his drug use when purchasing a firearm.  We were warned weeks ago the investigation was narrowing to these two topics and leaving behind all the corruption involving Burisma, violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and all the rest of the questions about Hunter Biden’s international business dealings and his father’s involvement therein.

Hunter Biden is not the only Washington figure raising eyebrows.  Anthony Fauci is another.  Senator Rand Paul set the stage in June when he asked Fauci during a hearing about royalty payments received by NIH scientists.  From 2010 to 2016, Paul said, 1,800 NIH employees received $193 million in royalties, but NIH refused to reveal their names.  This makes it impossible to determine whether there are any conflicts of interests.  For example, did scientists on vaccine review committees receive payments from vaccine manufacturers?  We don’t know, because NIH won’t divulge the information.  Fauci said during the hearing NIH employees are not required to disclose such information, not even on their financial statements.  That’s a problem – public servants possibly on the take while making important public policy decisions and we don’t even get to know about it?  I feel better already, don’t you?

As for Fauci himself, his net worth nearly doubled during the pandemic, to over $12 million dollars.  He is the federal government’s most highly paid employee – making more than the President – but what’s troubling is that part of his wealth came from prizes outside groups award to bureaucrats.  Bureaucrat prizes?  Who knew that was going on?  Fauci received a prize worth almost a million dollars from an Israeli foundation for “speaking truth to power” and “defending science” during the Trump administration.  The ins-and-outs of this have not been reported, but it raises the possibility Dr. Fauci was not following the science but was chasing the money when he contradicted himself on numerous occasions and gave the Trump administration fits.  Should public servants win awards from outside groups for policy decisions the bureaucrats are supposed to be making in the public interest?  That spells trouble, it seems to me.  Congress should take a close look at that one and either put guardrails around the practice or eliminate it all together.

Other swamp creatures have been in the news, recently.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was slapped with a Hatch Act violation for urging viewers to vote Democrat in a magazine interview.  The Hatch Act prohibits federal employees from participating in political campaigns.

The wife of the White House Chief of Staff just got a U.S. Special Envoy position at the State Department – nice work if you can get it.   Another White House adviser has a brother who is a lobbyist.  General Motors paid the lobbyist $350,000 to go after federal electric vehicle subsidies.  The Energy Department is now lending General Motors $2.5 billion dollars for lithium battery production.  See how this works?  Pretty incestuous.

Speaking of incestuous and high net worth, how did Chelsea Clinton come to be worth $30 million?  The daughter of a former president brought in $9 million for serving on the board of an Internet investment company.  She earned over $600,000 as a special correspondent for NBC News eight years ago and more from another board membership.  No doubt part of her wealth comes from appreciation of her ‘luxury fortress’ apartment in Manhattan, now worth $10 million.  And she got all this just because she is the daughter of a former president.

No wonder Donald Trump wanted to drain the swamp.  And no wonder he was run out of town for trying it.

Dr. Daniel Metzger was recorded during a video conference meeting where he highlighted some of these findings:

  • Dr. Daniel Metzger, WPATH: “We try to talk about it [transgenderism], but most of the kids are nowhere in any kind of brain space to talk about it really — in a serious way. That’s always bothered me, but you know, we still want the kids to be happy.”

Biden Regime Negotiating With Dictatorship Venezuela For Oil, Refuses To Negotiate With Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma & Other Oil Producing States

Treason: the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

One has to wonder what catastrophic event has to occur for the American people to finally see that the Democrat party is the enemy of the people that seeks our utter destruction.

Clearly, consumers of the Democrat-media-axis media are deceiving the public. But how long can one avoid reality?

U.S. Looks to Ease Venezuela Sanctions, Enabling Chevron to Pump Oil

Engaging Venezuela could serve as a longer-term strategy for the U.S. and European countries trying to secure new energy sources.

By Patricia Garip, Vivian Salama and Kejal Vyas, Wall Street Journal, Oct. 5, 2022:

The Biden administration is preparing to scale down sanctions on Venezuela’s authoritarian regime to allow Chevron Corp. CVX 1.72% to resume pumping oil there, paving the way for a potential reopening of U.S. and European markets to oil exports from Venezuela, according to people familiar with the proposal.

In exchange for the significant sanctions relief, the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro would resume long-suspended talks with the country’s opposition to discuss conditions needed to hold free and fair presidential elections in 2024, the people said. The U.S., Venezuela’s government and some Venezuelan opposition figures have also worked out a deal that would free up hundreds of millions of dollars in Venezuelan state funds frozen in American banks to pay for imports of food, medicine and equipment for the country’s battered electricity grid and municipal water systems.

60% of Third Grade Schoolkids Can’t Read, But the Democrats are Cramming Pedo/Trans/Porn Down Their Throats

The Wall Street Journal reports that statewide in Illinois, in 2019, only 36% of all third grade students could read at grade level. That’s an F, and that’s the good news. That number drops to 27% for Hispanic students and 22% for black students statewide. In certain public school systems, the numbers plummet to single digits. In Decatur, 2% of black third-graders are reading at grade level and only 1% are doing math at grade level.

And that’s before COVID.

This is by design by the left. Children who can’t read, add, or learn to think are easily manipulated and can be made to believe anything. How better to groom a violent army of idiots.

The long term effect is incalculable. We are looking at vast schisms between the educated and the illiterate and not just in income and quality of life.

We aren’t often speechless, but the extent to which that performance is betraying a generation of schoolchildren is hard to put into words. Third grade children are eight years old, full of potential with minds like sponges to absorb what they are taught. Third grade is the year that children need to achieve a level of reading fluency that will prepare them to tackle more complex tasks in upper elementary grades that require comprehension.

A child who can’t read in third grade can’t do word problems in fourth or science experiments in fifth. Promoting Decatur children to the fourth grade when 99% are below grade level in math condemns them to future failure. By 11th grade, 5% of Decatur’s students are reading at grade level and 4% are on par in math. Why shouldn’t every single adult presiding over the Decatur schools be fired?

Fully a third of American students entering the fourth grade cannot read at third-grade level, a sobering statistic from the U.S. Department of Education.

The scores are even worse for students living in poverty, worse yet if no father is present in the household and worst of all for boys in fatherless homes. The task during those first three critical grades is to learn to read. Thereafter, students read to learn. But for those who can’t read at third-grade level, as much as half the curriculum they are taught from there on will be incomprehensible.

Oklahoma City area schools show many students below grade level in math, reading, science

In Decatur, 97.3% of teachers were rated “excellent” or “proficient” in 2017, according to the Illinois State Board of Education. In 2018 that number was 99.7%. This year 100% of Chicago teachers were evaluated as excellent or proficient. The students are failing but the teachers are great? That contradiction shows the system is corrupt as well as incompetent.

Family and social dysfunction play some role in this scandal. But the overriding problem is school governance and the monopoly power of the teachers unions. The Chicago Teachers Union has walked out four times in the last seven years (2016, 2019, 2021, 2022), reaping higher salaries or benefits each time. Wirepoints says Illinois spends $16,660 per student annually, the eighth-highest state spending per student in the country.

Teachers get raises, schools get more money, and children are shuffled through until its time for the adults to collect a pension. Families that can get their children out are leaving in droves. Over the past two decades, 120,000 students have left the Chicago Public Schools. Wouldn’t you?

Department of Justice Indicts 11 For Peaceful Protest Outside Abortion Mill

“The most profoundly revolutionary achievement of the United States of America was the subordination of society to moral law. The principle of man’s individual rights represented the extension of morality into the social system—as a limitation on the power of the state, as man’s protection against the brute force of the collective, as the subordination of might to right.” — Ayn Rand

But a total of zero people have been charged by the DOJ for firebombing pro-life pregnancy centers.

Under the Democrats, we are no longer a nation of laws. Instead select laws, or no laws at all – just edicts, are enforced against one group of people,

Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of religion – the pillars of our Constitutional Republic have been shredded by the Democrat party of treason.

It took centuries of intellectual, philosophical development to achieve political freedom. It was a long struggle, stretching from Aristotle to John Locke to the Founding Fathers. The system they established was not based on unlimited majority rule, but on its opposite: on individual rights, which were not to be alienated by majority vote or minority plotting. The individual was not left at the mercy of his neighbors or his leaders: the Constitutional system of checks and balances was scientifically devised to protect him from both. This was the great American achievement—and if concern for the actual welfare of other nations were our present leaders’ motive, this is what we should have been teaching the world. (Ayn Rand)

DOJ Indicts 11 for Peaceful Protest Outside Abortion Facility

By: Truth Press, October 5, 2022:

In early March of 2021, a group of individuals committed to saving the lives of preborn children visited the Carafem abortion facility in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, as part of a “rescue” — an event meant to reach women seeking abortion, to persuade them to choose life for their preborn children instead. Today, October 5, 2022, that event of more than a year ago culminated in a visit from the FBI to at least one of the activist’s homes. Other individuals, who either participated or were merely present at the facility that day, were ordered to report to their local authorities to be charged under the federal FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) Act along with charges of conspiracy.

The event in March 2021 was reportedly peaceful, with participants lining the inside hallway of a shared general medical office building which, in one area, houses the Carafem abortion facility. The rescuers who were gathered that day prayed and sang, and the event was nonviolent. Some recorded the events on video. Several participants were arrested by local police that day and were later released after posting bail for misdemeanor trespass charges. (Read more here and here.)

Pro-life activist AJ Hurley spoke to Live Action News regarding today’s FBI activities, noting that according to the neighbors of pro-life rescue activist Chester (Chet) Gallagher, Gallagher was out of state when the FBI arrived with guns drawn and entered the Gallagher home.

When agents learned Gallagher was not at home, they reportedly attempted to gain information on his whereabouts from neighbors. The Mt. Juliet rescue was reportedly one of three led by Gallagher at different abortion facilities across the country last year.

Hurley said other individuals were “called by the FBI telling them they had arrest warrants and had to turn themselves in.” A press release from the Department of Justice named 11 individuals in all who are being charged with “with conspiracy against rights secured by the FACE Act, and committing FACE Act violations”:

Chester Gallagher, 73, of Lebanon, Tennessee; Heather Idoni, 58; Calvin Zastrow, 57; and Caroline Davis, 24; all of Michigan; Coleman Boyd, 51, of Bolton, Mississippi; Dennis Green, 56, of Cumberland, Virginia; and Paul Vaughn, 55, of Centerville, Tennessee.

In addition, the press release notes the following individuals were charged with FACE Act violations:

Eva Edl, 87, of Aiken South Carolina; Eva Zastro, 24, of Dover, Arkansas; James Zastro, 25, of Eldon, Missouri; and Paul Place, 24, of Centerville, Tennessee.

The release notes that “All defendants will have appearances scheduled in U.S. District Court in Nashville at a later date.”

The release details the charges in the indictment:

The indictment alleges that, beginning in February 2021, Chester Gallagher utilized social media to promote a series of anti-abortion events scheduled for March 4-7, 2021, in the Nashville area. Other co-conspirators then utilized Facebook to coordinate travel and logistics and to identify other participants for the blockade. On March 4, 2021, Coleman Boyd and Chester Gallager advertised the blockade of the Carafem Health Center Clinic, in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, which was planned for the following day. In his social media post, Gallagher referred to the blockade as a “rescue.”

Boyd also began a Facebook livestream broadcast of the clinic blockade at 7:45 a.m. on March 5, 2021. This livestream broadcast was titled, in part, “Mt. Juliet, TN Rescue March 5, 2021,” and livestreamed the blockade event as his coconspirators and others blocked the clinic’s entry doors and prevented a patient and an employee from entering. The livestream also broadcast members of the group attempting to engage a patient and her companion as Boyd told his livestream audience that the patient was a “mom coming to kill her baby.”

“The FBI isn’t even performing the investigations,” said Hurley. “The DOJ is doing their own investigations and using the FBI as their arm of that organization… Normally the FBI does an investigation, and if they find someone guilty of federal crimes, they issue warrants.” Instead, he says, “the DOJ is… sending local branches of the FBI with arrest warrants to be their strong arm.”

Hurley added, “This is a new tactic the DOJ has been throwing at pro-lifers to see if the charges stick.”

However, the DOJ press release claims, “This case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by the Civil Rights Coordinator of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and trial Attorneys of the Department’s Civil Rights Division,” adding, “An indictment is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

These FBI arrests are the most recent in a line of targeted attacks against pro-life individuals who peacefully participate in activities at or outside abortion facilities in the United States. One of the most notable was the recent FBI raid on the home of Philadelphia sidewalk counselor Mark Houck, whose home was visited in late September by approximately 15-20 agents in tactical gear, with guns drawn, in the presence of Houck’s wife and seven young children.

You Knew the FBI Was Corrupt, But Did You Know It Was THIS Bad?

We know that the FBI was all in on the Russian Collusion hoax, that it faked a kidnapping plot against far-Left Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and that it raided Donald Trump’s home in yet another transparently political attempt to frame the former president for a crime and render it impossible for him to run for president again in 2024. A majority of Americans now believe that the astoundingly corrupt Merrick Garland has turned the FBI into “Biden’s Gestapo.” And it’s true: the FBI is all of that and more. But the full story of how far it has fallen is even worse than that.

The Rev. James Harden is CEO of CompassCare Pregnancy Services in Buffalo, N.Y., which last June was firebombed by pro-abortion terrorists. They painted “Jane Was Here” on the side of the building as they broke windows and lit fires. Jane’s Revenge is a pro-abortion group that has issued open threats to pro-lifers: “We will hunt you down and make your lives a living hell,” the group has said. This is, it says, a “war” against pro-lifers.

Harden and CompassCare duly turned over surveillance footage of the attack to the FBI. Yet to this day, no arrests have been made. Harden told Tucker Carlson Thursday night, “Over seventy attacks on pro-life organizations across the country, zero arrests. I mean, look: It’s naïve to think that the largest law enforcement on the globe, with the best forensic technology known to man, doesn’t know a single person who is engaging in these attacks. If it’s not the FBI doing it, they certainly know who is, and they’re choosing not to make arrests, and we need equal protection under the law. Jane’s Revenge is the pro-abortion terrorist group that’s taken responsibility for these attacks, and they’re getting a pass.” Harden added, “The FBI has gone from abdicating their duty to provide equal justice under the law to pro-life people like us, to downright attacking us.” That’s bad enough, but wait, it gets even worse.

Carlson asked Harden, “Were you really told that you could not have your own surveillance tapes back, because those tapes of a firebombing of your property might inspire Right-wing terrorism?” Harden answered simply, “Yes,” and explained that CompassCare is now suing to try to get the tapes back.

This is in line with the FBI’s obsession with the “Right-wing terrorism” that Biden administration officials and Old Joe himself have insisted is the biggest terror threat the nation faces today. This dubious claim has been a recurring preoccupation of this administration. Yahoo News reported in May 2021 that Merrick Garland “told Congress on Wednesday that violence incited by white supremacists poses ‘the most dangerous threat to our democracy.’ That assertion reflects near-universal consensus among national security experts, including those who worked for the Trump administration.”

Ignore the 55,733 Injuries and Deaths, It’s Full Steam Ahead—Moderna and Pfizer Seek Booster Authorization for Children

Pfizer and Moderna are both seeking emergency use authorization for their bivalent COVID boosters for children.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • Pfizer and Moderna are both seeking emergency use authorization for their bivalent COVID boosters for children. Moderna is seeking authorization for children ages 6 through 17, while Pfizer’s shot is for children aged 5 through 11
  • The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects the bivalent boosters will be available for children aged 5 to 11 by mid-October 2022
  • In the U.S., both bivalent boosters will contain mRNA against the original Wuhan strain and Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5. (In the U.K., Moderna’s booster targets the Wuhan strain and BA.1, an earlier Omicron strain no longer in circulation)
  • The effectiveness of Pfizer’s booster is based on antibody levels in eight mice, which cannot tell you anything about the level of protection you might receive. Moderna’s booster is also based on antibody levels in mice, although the exact number is unknown
  • When it comes to safety, there’s not even mouse data. The safety is assumed based on the original shots, even though the safety data on those is shocking beyond belief. As of September 16, 2022, the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) had logged 55,733 reports of injuries and deaths in children under the age of 18

Even as more damning data are coming to light, Pfizer and Moderna are both seeking emergency use authorization (EUA) for their bivalent COVID boosters for children. Moderna is seeking authorization for children ages 6 through 17, while Pfizer’s shot is for children aged 5 through 11.1

According to Reuters,2 “the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention … expects COVID-19 vaccine boosters targeting circulating variants of the virus to be available for children aged 5-11 years by mid-October.”

Moderna’s new bivalent COVID booster, mRNA-1273.222, sold under the brand name “Spikevax bivalent Original/Omicron,” was authorized for adults over the age of 18 at the end of August 2022.3

In the U.S., the adult dose contains 25 micrograms of mRNA against the original Wuhan strain and 25 mcg of mRNA targeting Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5.4 In the U.K., Moderna’s bivalent booster (mRNA-1273.2145) contains mRNA against the original Wuhan strain and BA.1,6 an earlier Omicron strain that is no longer in circulation.7 8

Pfizer’s bivalent booster also contain mRNA against the Wuhan strain, BA.4 and BA.5. The two bivalent boosters are only be available to those who have already received the primary two-dose series and/or a monovalent booster at least two months ago.9

It’s probably safe to assume the same rule will apply to children. As of late September 2022,10 38% of American children aged 5 to 11 had received one initial dose and 31% have received two doses.11 In the 12- to 17-year-old age group, 67% have had one dose and 57% two doses. Those with two doses are likely the only ones who will be eligible for the bivalent booster, if authorized.

Bivalent Boosters Have Only Been Tested on Mice

For decades, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has had additional safeguards in place for children who participate in medical research.12 With the advent of COVID shots, all of that has been tossed out the window, as children are now being used as medical guinea pigs without any safeguards whatsoever.

It’s really important to realize that these bivalent boosters have been reformulated with new, untested mRNA, yet they’ve only been tested on mice. Despite that, the FDA is now considering giving them to young children.

The effectiveness of Pfizer’s booster is based on antibody levels in eight mice,13 which cannot tell you anything about the level of protection you might receive. Moderna’s booster is also based on antibody levels in mice, although the exact number is unknown.

“Safety is assumed based on the original shots, even though the safety data on those is shocking beyond belief. As of September 16, 2022, the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) had logged 55,733 reports of injuries and deaths in children under the age of 18.”

When it comes to safety, there’s not even mouse data. The safety is assumed based on the original shots, even though the safety data on those is shocking beyond belief. In the short-term, the original COVID shots have between them resulted in 1,417,671 adverse event reports (logged with the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System or VAERS as of September 16, 202214).

That includes 177,973 hospitalizations, 58,024 permanent disabilities, 34,107 life threatening events and 31,071 deaths. For children under the age of 18 alone, there are 55,733 reports of injuries and deaths.

If that’s not cause for alarm, I don’t know what is. It’s certainly not “strong evidence” for safety! What’s more, due to widespread underreporting, you have to multiply those already staggering numbers by underreporting factor of 41 (or more) to get an idea of the true impact.

And, if you still believe the pediatric trials were exhaustive, understand that the monovalent Pfizer booster authorized for children aged 5 to 11, back in May 2022, was based on the antibody levels of just 67 children.15 This is so far outside the norm of what’s historically been required for a drug trial, it’s just ridiculous.

1 in 800 Absolute Risk of Serious Side Effects

While VAERS data paint a clear picture of what’s at stake for parents who opt to inject their children with this genetically engineered bioweapon, we now also have other data showing just how bad of an idea that is.

A recent study16 17 in the journal Vaccine — coauthored by some of the most trusted medical scientists in the world, including Peter Doshi, an associate professor of pharmaceutical services research and a senior editor at The BMJ — looked at data from the FDA, Health Canada and the Pfizer and Moderna trials to assess the risks of Pfizer’s and Moderna’s COVID shots.

They concluded the absolute risk of a serious adverse event from the mRNA shots was 1 in 800, which massively exceeds the risk of COVID-19 hospitalization found in randomized controlled trials.

The risk COVID infection poses to children is even more infinitesimal — especially Omicron infection, which presents as a mild cold in most people — making a 1 in 800 risk of a serious side effect unacceptable beyond description.

Statistics show the rate of COVID-19 associated hospitalization among children aged 5 to 11 is 0.0008%.18 In real-world terms, that’s so close to zero you cannot lower it any further. Additionally, as reported by Clark County Today,19 “Pfizer trial data20 [show] the chance of death in children from the shot is 107 times higher than death from COVID-19.”

Other Data That Confirm Lack of Safety

Other data are also reviewed in a recent paper21 22 by cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra, who initially recommended the shots but has since changed his mind about their safety. For example, Israeli data show post-jab myocarditis is occurring at a rate of 1 in 6,000. Data from male children and teens in Hong Kong found myocarditis at a rate of 1 in 2,700.

As noted by the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation in the video above, myocarditis — one of the recognized effects of the COVID jab — “has a mortality rate of 25% to 56% within three to 10 years, owing to progressive heart failure and sudden cardiac death.”

Norwegian data show the rate of serious adverse events post-jab is 1 in 1,000 after two doses of Pfizer, and the British Yellow Card system shows 1 in 120 people who have received at least one mRNA injection suffer an adverse event “that is beyond mild.” These are simply extraordinary risk ratios, and there’s no telling what the long-term effects might be, say 10 or 20 years from now.

Trial Showed COVID Jab Increases Infection Risk in Babies

According to CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, “rigorous scientific review” has proven the COVID shots to be safe and effective in infants and young children.23 However, as detailed by diagnostic pathologist Dr. Clare Craig24 (video above), Pfizer twisted its clinical data for young children to achieve a desired result.

Craig points out that of the 4,526 children, aged 6 months to 4 years, who participated in Pfizer’s trial, 3,000 didn’t make it to the end of the trial. Why did two-thirds of the children drop out? Oftentimes, this happens when side effects are too severe for the participant to continue. Here, we don’t know why two-thirds of the participants were eliminated, and “on that basis alone, this trial should be deemed null and void,” Craig says. Moreover:

  • Six of the children, aged 2 to 4 years, in the vaccinated group were diagnosed with “severe COVID,” compared to just one in the placebo group. So, what this actually shows is that the likelihood the shot is causing severe COVID is higher than the likelihood that it’s preventing it.
  • The only child who required hospitalization for COVID was also in the “vaccinated” group.
  • In the three weeks following the first dose, 34 of the children in the vaccinated group and 13 of the unvaccinated children were diagnosed with COVID. That means the children’s risk of developing symptoms of COVID within the first three weeks of the first dose actually increased by 30%! These data were ignored.Between doses two and three, there was an eight-week gap, and the vaccinated arm again experienced higher rates of COVID. This too was ignored. After the third dose, incidence of COVID was again raised in the vaccine group, and this was ignored as well.In the end, they only counted three cases of COVID in the vaccine arm and seven cases in the placebo group. They literally ignored 97% of all the COVID cases that occurred during the trial to conclude that the shots were “effective” in preventing COVID.
  • While they claim the triple-dose regimen reduced COVID, 12 of the children actually caught COVID twice in the two-month follow-up, and 11 of them were vaccinated.
  • The confidence interval for Pfizer’s jab is -370% at the lower end of the 95%, which suggests children who get the jab are nearly four times more likely of getting sick with COVID than their unvaccinated peers.25

Why Are They Targeting Children Who Don’t Need These Shots?

Ever since the COVID shots were first authorized for young children,26 the question of why has been raised. Certainly, it’s not because children are in grave danger of dying from COVID.

The most likely explanation for the FDA’s and CDC’s irrational behavior is that they’re helping the drug makers to get the mRNA shots onto the childhood vaccination schedule, as that is the fastest and easiest route to get permanent liability shielding.

Once the vaccine is on the childhood vaccination schedule, the vaccine makers are permanently shielded from liability for injuries and deaths that occur in any age group, including adults. You can learn more about this indemnification process in “The Real Reason They Want to Give COVID Jabs to Kids.”

So, the end goal is likely to get permanent immunity against liability for injury and death from the COVID shots in all age groups, and to get there, they first need the EUA to cover all children. And, since the FDA is now authorizing reformulated mRNA shots without additional testing, using the flu vaccine model, it seems they want to make sure they have annually updated boosters included in the EUA for children as well.

UK Bans COVID Jab for Under-12

Meanwhile, the U.K. recently rescinded the COVID jab for children under the age of 12, unless they’re in a high-risk medical category. As reported by The Guardian September 6, 2022:27

“The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said children who had not turned 5 by the end of last month would not be offered a vaccination, in line with advice published by the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) in February 2022. UKHSA said the offer of COVID jabs to healthy 5- to 11-year-olds was always meant to be temporary.”

Similarly, as of September 1, 2022, Denmark no longer offers the COVID jab to children between the ages of 5 and 17, citing the low risk posed by COVID infection.28 Children with only one dose will not be required to get a second, and no boosters will be offered to this age group.

Sweden opted not to recommend the shot for children between 5 and 11 from the start, as the Swedish Health Agency felt the benefits did not outweigh the risks,29 so boosters for kids are unlikely to be an issue there either.

In the U.S., Florida has gone on record rejecting all COVID shots for children under 5.30 Parents who want to get their toddlers jabbed have the freedom to do so, but it’s not recommended by the state.

Protect Your Children From Medical Experimentation

If you’re still unsure whether the COVID shot is the “right” choice for your child, please read through Dr. Byram Bridle’s “COVID-19 Vaccines and Children: A Scientist’s Guide for Parents,”31 published by the Canadian COVID Care Alliance. It goes through how the shots work, what the known side effects are, results from the clinical trial, the effects of the spike protein and much more.

Side effects from the new bivalent boosters are assumed to be about the same as for the original shots,32 but there’s no guarantee of that. They could be milder, or they could be worse.

In my view, the chances of them being worse is higher, for the simple reason that they’re delivering more than one type of mRNA. Will the BA.4/BA.5 mRNA have different effects? Will they cause cross-reactions? Who knows? There’s no data. At bare minimum, if the adverse effects of the original shots are an indication, there’s every reason to suspect the bivalent boosters will be just as dangerous.

Appeals Court Ruling Sends a Clear Message that Presidents Cannot Nullify Immigration Law through Executive Action

Washington, D.C.The following statement was issued by Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), in response to Wednesday’s ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit declaring the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to be unlawful:

“Yesterday, the Fifth Circuit correctly upheld a federal district judge’s ruling that the Obama-era DACA program is unlawful. Presidents do not have the authority to exempt entire classes of immigration lawbreakers from enforcement, or provide them with authorization to work in the United States, when federal statutes explicitly bar them from being here or working here.

“This ruling could not have been timelier. Building upon what we once thought was the pinnacle of unlawful executive action during the Obama administration, President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have been working around the clock to negate virtually every immigration law on the books. The end result? The worst border crisis in the history of our country with no end in sight.

“The response of the Biden administration and congressional Democrats to yesterday’s ruling is telling and discouraging, and demonstrates that they are the ones using DACA beneficiaries as political pawns. Rather than showing even the slightest bit of interest in addressing a raging border crisis they created, they called for mass amnesty – and not just for the 600,000 illegal aliens enrolled in DACA, but for upwards of 4 million immigration lawbreakers. Amnesty is their only solution when it comes to Congress exercising its power over immigration, and the American people are taking note.

“The multiple immigration crises facing our nation cannot be solved through unlawful executive action or an amnesty bill. They can only be addressed when the White House and congressional Democrats finally decide to act in good faith to restore the integrity of the countless immigration laws to which they have laid waste.”
