Thou Shalt Not Smirk

We live in a time when tolerance is just a one-way street. Those who clamor loudest for tolerance are the most intolerant people around if they are offended—which happens often these days. To wit, the recent story involving the Covington kids.

Every year thousands of Americans come to Washington, D. C. in the frigid cold to participate in the March for Life. Every year they are treated to a virtual media blackout (except for Fox News)—and except for this year because of the false narrative involving the Covington kids.

For those who have been living in a cave for the last few weeks, here is what happened. On January 18, 2019, a small group of high schoolers from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky were in Washington to participate in the pro-life march. They visited the Lincoln Memorial, wearing their MAGA (“Make America Great Again”) Trump hats.

Some black protesters affiliated with a cult called the Black Hebrew Israelites repeatedly regaled them with profanities and vile insults. Then a Native-American man banging a drum walked up to the boys. One of the boys, Nick Sandmann, did not move. He stood his ground and smiled at the Indian, Nathan Phillips. But did he smirk?

CNN commentator Reza Aslan sniped, “Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?”

Anne Helen Peterson, a writer at the now-discredited BuzzFeed, compared an image of Sandmann’s “smirk” with one of Brett Kavanaugh and tweeted, “One theme of the conversations over the past 24 hours = how deeply familiar this look is. It’s the look of white patriarchy…”

Writing for the Chicago Tribune(1/22 /19), John Kass notes, “The boys were wrongfully and publicly accused of confronting Native American activist Nathan Phillips, because that was what was highlighted on a short video of the event that went viral. But it turned out the aggressors were Phillips himself, pounding his drum and singing loudly within inches of a Covington boy’s face, and several Black Hebrew Israelite protesters shouting horrible racist insults at the boys.”

Of course, the media is a major part of the problem—in their rush to judgment against the Covington kids, whose major “crime” was wearing Trump hats and participating in a prolife activity…and, of course, Sandmann’s smile (or was it a smirk)?

The Wall Street Journal wrote in an opinion piece about the Covington kids: “Of the most culturally deplorable boxes one can check in progressive America in 2019, the boys of Covington Catholic High School have most of them: white, male, Christian, attendees at the annual March for Life in Washington, and wearers of MAGA hats. What’s not to dislike?”

Look at a few examples of “tolerance” from media commentators on the Covington story compiled by the Media Research Center:

•Noah Berlatsky, NBC, @nberlat

“Sandmann wants us to believe that he was merely a silent, innocent bystander during the confrontation. But the hat he was wearing spoke hate.”

•Jack Morrissey, Disney Producer, @Jack_Morrissey

“#MAGAkids go screaming, hats first, into the woodchipper.”

•Kathy Griffin, “Comedian”, @kathygriffin

“Name these kids. I want NAMES. Shame them.”

And on it goes.

The end result of the media frenzy against these high school boys, who stood up well in the face of much pressure, is that their school had to be shut down for a while, and the students have faced death threats. They even endured much initial criticism from supposedly conservative voices, until the full story was told.

Conservative actress Patricia Heaton tweeted: “These young people will forever have these smears follow them through their life every time they proffer their resume with the word ‘Covington’ on it….And yet those who perpetrated this destruction, no matter how unintended, are still at their jobs, with nary a consequence for their reckless behavior.”

Christianity invented tolerance. It was Jesus who first articulated the Golden Rule: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them to you, for this sums up the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12, NIV).

My friend Bill Federer, author and speaker, once said to me in a television interview:

“Tolerance was an American Christian contribution to the world. Just as you drop a pebble in the pond, the ripples go out, there was tolerance first for Puritans and then Protestants, then Catholics, then liberal Christians, and then it went out completely to Jews. Then in the early 1900s, tolerance went out to anybody of any faith, monotheist or polytheist. Finally, within the last generation, tolerance went out to the atheist, the secular humanist, and the anti-religious.  And the last ones in the boat decided it was too crowded and decided to push the first ones out.  So now we have a unique situation in America, where everybody’s tolerated except the ones that came up with the idea.”

The True Depravity of NY’s New Abortion Law

Many across the nation are rightfully outraged by the signing of the abortion expansion bill in New York. In response to fears that the Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade, the New York legislature, and Governor Andrew Cuomo, teamed up with the abortion industry to further tighten their grip on the Empire state following the 2018 midterms.

The bottom line is that the recently signed “Reproductive Health Act” goes way beyond a simple expansion of abortion in New York. As is typical with the Left, it takes some digging to bring the true intentions of this ghastly bill to light. It turns out that existing common-sense protections for women and children are stripped away in the name of late-term abortion expansion. This bill fulfills every wish that a late-term abortionist could have, and I have no doubt it will set the stage for the next Kermit Gosnell.

The new law expands the list of medical professionals able to commit abortions (including late-term abortions) from physicians to practically any healthcare professional authorized under New York’s education law (physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and midwives, for example). This endangers women by allowing less experienced, less trained, and less qualified medical professionals to commit abortions.

The new law also removes requirements related to late-term abortions. Specifically, it repeals a requirement that abortions after 12 weeks be done in hospitals, thus increasing the likelihood that late-term abortions are done in less than safe facilities. The bill also removes a requirement that an additional physician be present in the event that an unborn child survives an abortion, as well as legal protections for born alive infants in the state’s social services law, civil rights law, and penal code. Eliminating these common-sense and popular protections for abortion survivors means that abortion survivors can be denied life-saving treatment in the moments following their live birth.

What is most disturbing is that the new law also eliminates the authority previously granted to coroners to examine the cause of death in criminal abortions. Earlier this year, Dr. Robert Rho plead guilty to criminal negligence after his actions resulted in the death of a 30-year-old woman who bled out following a botched abortion. Even more disturbing is the fact that this bill strips “personhood” out of the penal code, which means if a pregnant woman is assaulted and it results in the death of her unborn child, the perpetrator can no longer be charged with murder. By preventing coroners from investigating deaths as a result of botched abortions and assault, it is not only women’s health that is in danger, but it is a travesty of justice for the loved ones of patients who are killed by abortionists and of mothers whose unborn children are killed by an attacker.

The new year has brought a new level of desperation for the abortion lobby. They’re demonstrating a willingness to go beyond simply defending Roe v. Wade. Long gone are the days when their abortion mantra was “safe, legal, and rare.” It seems “abortion, on demand, without apology” is even giving way to a new mantra for big abortion. They now want license to strip away any and all protections meant to ensure women aren’t harmed in late-term abortions, as well as eliminate rights for abortion survivors and assault victims.

Who are we to impose our Western imperialist values on these suffering minorities? Remind yourselves that they are on the right side of history, and the Glorious Progressive World of Next Tuesday is just around the corner. It’s simply taking a little longer than we had anticipated a hundred years ago.

KORREKTION: It appears that our agitprop artist has made a typo, misspelling “pure” as “poor.” A swift investigation by a tribunal has determined that the error occurred while the artist, who is not a native English speaker, was taking our directions over an audio receiver. Rest assured that the guilty have been punished and the artist will never paint again on account of having his fingers broken during the necessary interrogation.

In a bold move, Robert Mueller expanded his investigative and law enforcement powers to include the authority to read facial expressions and assess fashion statements. 

Seeing the potential end to the current Russian collusion investigation, that so far has netted only post-election process violations having nothing to do with collusion, Mueller expanded his powers to include mental telepathy. Mueller explained that it was the next obvious step in the evolution of his authoritarian powers. “I’ve been given so much free reign in these investigations that sixth sense was the only possible new power to be exploited” said Mueller as he attended his weekly back-rub from CNN executives. He added that “fashion police authority was just a bonus.” 

Combining telepathic knowledge of what a smirk really means with the poor fashion choice of MAGA hats put the unfortunate Convington Catholic High School students square in his cross hairs … and indictment writing pen. 

In response to a reporter who accidentally asked Mueller a hard question about legal aspects of fashion indictments, the Special Counsel lead investigator replied, “And your Social Security number is what?”

Long Before the Covington High Incident, Orwell Revealed the Truth about Hate

If the media is “creating and fomenting” anger, this is only part of a bigger story. It may be time to take a lesson from ‘1984’, the political allegory by George Orwell.

What could be a better story for a media devoid of “journalistic ethics” than a group of Catholic high school students, wearing MAGA hats, seemingly mocking a Native American elder?

On social media, people expressed wishes to inflict harm on Nicholas Sandmann. Nicholas is the student who, rather than mocking Native American Nathan Phillips, was stoically smiling. Even after exculpatory evidence was available, some double-downed on their first assessment of Sandmann.

If the media is “creating and fomenting” anger, this is only part of a bigger story. It may be time to take a lesson from 1984, the political allegory by George Orwell. In the totalitarian society created by Orwell, the hate expressed towards the Party’s enemy Emmanuel Goldstein already existed in the minds of the haters. The media are responsible for their lack of ethics, but we are accountable for our own hatred.

In Orwell’s society, the population is required to engage in a daily ritual called Two Minutes Hate. The Party’s enemies, often Emmanuel Goldstein, are made to seem grotesque. Party members are mandated to rage at these hideous scapegoats:

The next moment a hideous, grinding speech, as of some monstrous machine running without oil, burst from the big telescreen at the end of the room. It was a noise that set one’s teeth on edge and bristled the hair at the back of one’s neck. The Hate had started. As usual, the face of Emmanuel Goldstein, the Enemy of the People, had flashed on to the screen.

Readers of 1984 are uncertain if Emmanuel Goldstein really exists. Fictitious or not, Goldstein is perceived as the biggest enemy of the state. Orwell describes the ritual of the daily rage:

The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one’s will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic.

Tellingly, Orwell writes, “[T]he rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blowlamp.” Read Orwell’s observation carefully: The Party depends on its ability to tap into pre-existing rage. Individuals blinded and bonded by rage are easily controlled by the state.

On social media following the Covington High student incident, as in 1984, “a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge hammer, seemed to flow through [the critics of Nicholas Sandmann] like an electric current.”

A universal truth about human minds is revealed in 1984 and in the events involving the Covington High students. In Stephen Covey’s words, “We see the world, not as it is, but as we are—or, as we are conditioned to see it.”

Through our beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, we interpret what we see and mistake our interpretations for reality. We don’t realize, as Covey puts it, that “When we open our mouths to describe what we see, we in effect describe ourselves, our perceptions, our paradigms.”

“When other people disagree with us,” Covey writes, “we immediately think something is wrong with them.”

We are sure our perceptions are true. The real truth is we rage because we want to rage. Who among us wants to see ourselves as a rager? We want our rage to be someone else’s fault. Enter projection.

Projection is our ego’s attempt to absolve itself of responsibility for our thoughts and feelings by denying they exist in us and finding what we have denied in other people.

If it snows where you live, you have probably experienced a snowplow operator undoing your snow clearing efforts. Municipal snowplow operators don’t remove snow to make your personal snow removal easier; that’s just a fact of life. Yet every winter there seems to be a news story of an incensed homeowner attacking a snowplow operator. A snowplow operator can’t cause rage, yet one’s interpretation of the operator’s actions can.

Do you see yourself as a considerate person? Do you value being recognized as considerate? There will be times your actions are less than considerate. If you don’t acknowledge the less-than-kind part of your mind, there are consequences.

If we think of ourselves as considerate but act inconsiderately, our buttons will be pushed by people whose actions we perceive as inconsiderate. We will project our inconsiderate side onto someone else whose weakness we see as more egregious than our own. By not cleaning up our own act, we will be driven to find our failures in a family member, a colleague, or someone else we don’t even know.

Not willing to acknowledge our own shortcomings, we might shout from the rooftops or, in today’s age, tweet: I have found the guilty SOB who deserves to be punished. There is a reason other people push our buttons—when we are not aware of our own failings, we try to get rid of the resulting guilt by making a psychological punching bag of someone else.

When I get angry over the failings of others, I strengthen—not release—that sense of failure in myself. Projection guarantees I won’t change. Instead, I will have more of what I am trying to get rid of by seeing it in others. As in 1984, rage begets more rage. Projections boomerang.

We have a choice: we can look honestly at what is in our mind, or we can attack others.

Donald Trump is the great psychological scapegoat of our time. Daily, we hear he is the stupid one, or he is the cruel one, or he is the lazy one. I can’t recall another American being the object of so much scorn. Is Trump today’s Emmanuel Goldstein?

Not that Trump isn’t, for example, a lazy, undisciplined thinker. The point is, we can discern something without getting incensed by it. We don’t have to get irate at the bus driver speeding down the street; wisely, we choose to not step off the curb. When you experience intense thoughts of judgment and feelings of anger, take notice. The key to understanding that you are projecting is the anger and judgment you feel.

We do not hate others for their failures, but for our own. We can’t help but hate ourselves for our mistreatment of others. This is so because in everyone’s mind is a memory, however dim, of our connection to all of humanity.

In his Meditations, Marcus Aurelius expressed his belief that “Everything is interwoven, and the web is holy; none of its parts are unconnected.” Yet we often forget; separation rather than connectedness seems to be reality. To overcome the tendencies of his mind, Aurelius practiced a mental discipline:

Keep reminding yourself of the way things are connected, of their relatedness. All things are implicated in one another and in sympathy with each other. This event is the consequence of some other one. Things push and pull on each other, and breathe together, and are one.

Ryan Holliday writes that sympatheia—“the belief in mutual interdependence among everything in the universe, that we are all one”—is “perhaps the most radical idea in all of Stoicism.”

Projection is antithetical to sympatheia. When we project, we set out to show our false perceptions of our own virtues are true. To prove our innocence, someone else has to be guilty. We think our perception of bad conduct in others justifies our own lousy behavior. When our mind clears we see how ridiculous our posturing is. In his book, Bonds That Make Us Free, philosopher Terry Warner equates our displays of self-righteousness with bad acting:

Those who are not self-deceivingly stuck in their own accusing thoughts and feelings will see our public presentation of ourselves for what it is—an insecure, self-conscious, anxious striving to make a point about ourselves that is always a bit excessive, like bad acting.

People may be bad actors, but those who won’t take responsibility for their own failings are placing the rest of us in harm’s way. Damon Linker warns: “[I]t’s just a matter of time before real-world violence breaks out in response to an online conflagration.”

Those who became unhinged over the hatred they perceived in the Covington High students were projecting the unexamined hatred in their own minds. Instead of projecting, we can offer understanding and kindness.

Orwell was right, haters are going to hate. Yet, when we are willing to look at our unexamined self and take responsibility for it, there is nothing to project. In that space, nothing is left but our common humanity—we all have a right mind and a wrong mind and the power to choose again.

I Have A Dream for Black History Month

As an American who happens to be black, I wish to share my concerns regarding Black History Month. Racism like every other sin will exist until Jesus returns. However, there is not enough racism to stop anyone from achieving their American dream. Denying this truth is a despicable self-serving political tactic of Democrats. Democrats have insidiously discouraged blacks for decades, deceiving them into believing America is a hellhole of racism. Therefore, voting for Democrats is blacks only hope of keeping evil white racist America at bay.

Irrefutably, America is the greatest land of opportunity on the planet for all who choose to pursue their dreams regardless of skin-color or gender. Right personal choices produce positive results.

Democrats and fake news media do not view Black History Month as an opportunity to celebrate black achievements. Instead, they exploit the holiday with old racial injustices experienced by few blacks alive today. Their evil purpose is to make young blacks who have never experienced an once of racism hate our country, hate whites and continue voting for Democrats to save them.

This great Democrat deception continues to devastate black communities. Cities like Chicago, Washington D.C. and Baltimore controlled by Democrats for decades are plagued with high black poverty and addictive government dependency, high black school dropouts, high black fatherless households, high black incarceration and high black-on-black homicides. 

Democrats are outraged whenever anyone suggests that blacks take responsibility for their success or failure. According to Democrats and their media buddies, all black failure is the result of “white privilege”.

Blacks who achieved extraordinary success by making right choices and taking personal responsibility are despised by Democrats. Blacks like Dr. Ben Carson and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who achieved success the old-fashion way by earning it are excoriated; called Uncle Tom traitors to their race.

My dream is for black history to be taught more balanced.

Teach the injustices endured by blacks. But also teach about the courageous whites and blacks who worked together to right America’s wrongs. Blacks are only 12% of the population. Therefore, blacks could not have achieved freedom and success without help from good white people. And yet, Democrats and fake news despicably want you to believe all black progress was made in spite of white America’s 24/7 efforts to stop them. I know blacks who absurdly believe the black vote won Obama the presidency because most whites would never vote for a black man.

Democrats and fake news say if you are black and do not hate your country and harbor resentment against white America, there is something seriously wrong with you; suffering Stockholm Syndrome. 

Black History Month should be about showcasing exceptional blacks; inspiring black youths to take personal responsibility and be all they can be.

Joe Ford is one such black role model. Joe Ford was a black pioneer in the field of graphic design/advertising. He was the first black art director hired at W.B. Doner, a prestigious Baltimore advertising agency. Joe may have been the first black art director at an ad agency in the country. Joe’s story is remarkable and inspiring; from street thug to advertising art director.

I first met Joe in the 1970s when I was hired part-time at Joe Canale Signs in Baltimore while I was a student at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Joe Canale was the Italian business owner with the personality of Fezziwig in Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Joe Ford worked at Canale signs as a sign painter. He was also a student at Maryland Institute College of Art. I was the naive kid from Pumphrey, a black suburban community. Immediately, Joe Ford became my older Baltimore city streetwise brother.

Joe was raised by his grandmother in a rough area of east Baltimore. As a teen, Joe spent a year in jail. Lindy Jordan, a black teacher at Carver High School mentored and taught Joe the trade of sign painting.

Joe became laser-focused on becoming a professional graphic designer. Joe worked his way through the Maryland Institute College of Art; paying the expense tuition, books and art supplies. Joe drove a school bus while earning his Master’s Degree.

In the 1970s, Joe was not the most artistically gifted in our small group of black artists. However, Joe was by far the most laser-focused on his goal. Most in our group of black artists believed Democrats’ lie that whites would try to block them from success at every turn. Joe ignored this lie.

Joe said he simply pursued his dream and would deal with racist opposition when it arrived. It never did. Joe did experience the bigotry of lower exceptions from his sympathetic white female professors.

At W. B. Doner Advertising Agency, Joe Ford handled multi-million dollar ad campaigns. He later became a professor at Morgan State University and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Joe Ford’s transformation from a street thug to focusing on his dreams opened the door for many blacks to follow in the path he cleared in the field of graphic design and advertising.

MOVIE REVIEW: Film ‘Glass’ Is A Failed Attempt to Shatter Toxic Masculinity

The film “Glass” is about three alpha male characters and one female psychiatrist Dr. Ellie Staple. One of the men David Dunn, played by Bruce Willis, is good, Kevin ( a.k.a. The Beast), played by James McAvoy, is very bad and the third Elijah Prize (a.k.a. Glass), played by Samuel L. Jackson, is brilliant but a deeply troubled villain.

The idea is to convince these three men with exceptional strength, abilities and intellect that they are not super heroes. Dr. Staple believes the three men suffer from delusions of grandeur, specifically men who believe they have super abilities.

MovieGuide.org states this about Glass:

GLASS is a psychological thriller from Writer/Director M. Night Shyamalan, the third movie in a trilogy that includes the movies UNBREAKABLE and SPLIT. GLASS is about three different men, each with special abilities, that are put under psychiatric care because of crimes they committed. David Dunn is very strong, and can tell if people are bad and good, and he secretly fights as a vigilante hero. Kevin is a man who’s split between 23 personalities, one of which is called The Beast and is incredibly strong and dangerous. Finally, Elijah is a brilliant and murderous man whose incredibly fragile bones lead him to believe he’s a villain in a real life comic book world. A psychiatrist tries to convince the men they have the same delusion.

Killing Toxic Masculinity (a.k.a. Heterosexuality)

The psychiatrist Dr. Ellie Staple is part of a larger organization with the mission to mentally neuter these three super heroes.

The attempt to mentally neuter these three alpha males fails. How it fails in the end is the best part of the film.

Glass does have a moral message. There are good and bad men in the world. These men are capable of doing incredible things both good and bad. It reminded me of the spaghetti western staring Clint Eastwood titled “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

If there is any lesson to be learned from “Glass” it is that Hollywood can’t make movies where the good guy wins and the bad guys lose, like in the Clint Eastwood film.

Hollywood has lost its moral compass.

Good must prevail. Men are good so long as they have a strong moral compass. They go wrong when they succumb to the weakness of the flesh or their own sense of importance rather than a higher calling to do good.

It is a film worth seeing. Could it have been better? Yes, if it has a stronger moral message.

A List of the Necessary Steps to End ‘Christophobia’

After the recent incident involving Covington Catholic High School students at the Right To Life march in Washington, D.C. it is appropriate to take steps to end “Christophobia.” Of the three major monotheistic religions of the world, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, only Christianity does not have a plan to end the criticism of its beliefs. The Jewish people have anti-Semitism and the followers of Mohammed have Islamophobia to protect their beliefs from non-believers.

What can America and the world do to protect those who believe in Jesus Christ from non-believers?

Perhaps it is useful to use what the other two Abrahamic religions have used successfully as models. Just as the Jewish people have suffered from persecution and endured the horrors of the Holocaust, so to have Christians. Christians were fed to the lions by the Romans, slaughtered by the millions in socialist/Communist countries and are today being persecuted around the world in record numbers for their faith.

By the way, Jesus (عيسى or Issa in Arabic) is mentioned no less than 35 times in the Qur’an. Jesus is listed 27 times by his name, and 8 times as “the Messiah” or “المسيح” in Arabic. Mohammed is mentioned only 4 times in the Qur’an. (Read: All Qur’anic Passages about Jesus.)

Here are recommended steps to end the fear of Christians globally. (If you have other steps please feel free to list them in the comment section below.)

  1. Demand that all politicians refer to Christianity and Christians as followers of “the religion of peace.”
  2. Call anyone who blasphemes God or His Son Jesus as bigoted, hateful and a Christophobe (Christian anti-blasphemy law).
  3. Have the United Nations pass a resolution condemning Christophobia. Any nation state that speaks ill of Christianity must be condemned in the strongest terms and labeled Christophobic.
  4. Have the federal government hire Christians to go into prisons, neighborhoods, communities and recruit new members to the Christian faith, the religion of peace.
  5. Have the federal government subsidize the building of newer and larger churches throughout America and the world that praise the word of God and His Son, Jesus.
  6. Demand that local, state and the federal governments pass laws making it illegal for anyone to criticizes the followers of Jesus of Nazareth. Known as “blasphemy laws.”
  7. Designate any criticism or attack against any follower of Jesus, either verbal or physical, as a hate crime.
  8. Force all news sources to treat the followers of Jesus as a special class of people who cannot be criticized, vilified or covered in a negative way.
  9. Demand that Hollywood hire Christian actors and actresses in proportion to the followers of Jesus in the population of the United States. The same for professional sports teams.
  10. Require all school children to read the Bible and become followers of Jesus Christ.
  11. Elect more Christians to positions at the local, state and federal levels in proportion to the followers of Jesus in the population of the United States.
  12. Appoint Christians as judges in proportion to the followers of Jesus in the population of the United States.
  13. Force all businesses to serve the followers of Jesus equally.
  14. Force all non-Christian business to serve Christians equally under penalty of law.
  15. Pass resolutions at the local, state and federal levels making Christians a protected class of citizens.

Perhaps after reading this list you you may be thinking this is a joke. It is not.

These same protections, listed above, are provided in law and culturally to the other two Abrahamic religions at the local, state and federal levels in the U.S. and internationally.

QUESTION: Why not provide the same protections to Christians?

House Republicans Vote Twice to Pay Government Employees During Shutdown

House Republicans have now twice voted to pay government employees during the partial shutdown, but neither bill has passed the Democrat-controlled chamber.

“House Republicans have repeatedly introduced measures that would pay federal employees during the stalemate,” Rep. Mike Johnson, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, said in a statement provided to The Daily Signal. “Unfortunately, Democrats refuse to budge.”

“It is disingenuous to express outrage over the approximately 800,000 workers missing paychecks, but then continue to vote in favor of withholding their pay. That is precisely what the majority of Democrats are doing,” Johnson added.

In a statement provided to The Daily Signal, Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga., said Democrats’ failure to vote with Republicans to pay federal employees is telling.

“Before choosing to go home early for the weekend, 215 Democrats voted to deprive hard-working federal workers of their pay,” Hice said, adding:

Once again, they blocked a good faith effort to ensure all federal employees receive pay during this stalemate as we allow negotiations to continue on border security. This is just the latest example that Nancy Pelosi and Democrats are only interested in hurting President Trump instead of actually solving problems.

Texas freshman lawmaker Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, says “actions speak louder than words,” noting that most Democrats failed to join House Republicans and vote to pay federal employees during the partial government shutdown.

“House GOP voted again to pay federal employees,” Crenshaw tweeted Wednesday. “This time just ten Democrats joined us,” he said, adding that the prior time Republicans voted to pay federal employees, only six Democrats had joined them.

The partial government shutdown has now been ongoing for 34 days due to the fight over $5.7 billion in funding for a barrier at the border.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., suggested in a tweet that House Democrats had no “sense of urgency” to end the shutdown.

“Democrats decry federal workers not getting paid in one breath and then cancel votes to leave town early in another,” Meadows tweeted Thursday. “Ridiculous—the shutdown is 33 days old. Where is the sense of urgency? There is zero reason anyone in Congress should go home until this is resolved. Period.”

The Senate will be voting on a package to end the shutdown on Thursday, but it is not expected to pass, Politico reported.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called on the Senate to pass the package, but did not acknowledge the votes the House has taken to fund federal employees despite the shutdown.

“As the #TrumpShutdown hits Day 34, the consequences of this senseless shutdown continue to build,” Pelosi tweeted. “President Trump and Senate Republicans must allow us to do the responsible thing and re-open government.”

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., also introduced legislation Jan. 9 to pay federal employees during the government shutdown who are “tasked with securing our border and deterring illegal immigration,” and Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., told The Daily Signal in an email that Democrats should stop their obstruction.

“Nancy Pelosi and Democrats continue to vote against giving our federal workers a paycheck,” Gosar said. “It’s time for Democrats to stop this nonsense and come to the table and end this shutdown. I remain committed to securing our border and getting Americans back to work.”

Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., also highlighted on Twitter Thursday that “214 Democrats voted against paying our federal employees at [the Department of Homeland Security].”

Planned Parenthood and the African-American Community

Does Planned Parenthood target blacks? That is what Dr. Martin Luther King’s niece thinks.

Recently, I spoke on my radio show with Evangelist Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is the Director of Civil Rights for the Unborn with the organization Priests for Life. The focus was on Planned Parenthood and the African-American community.

Her comments are relevant all year around, especially around this time of MLK day and the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision favoring abortion, Roe v. Wade (January 22, 1973).

Dr. Alveda King told me, “The leading cause of death in the African-American community is not gang-violence, gun violence, heart attack, stroke, HIV, high blood pressure, diabetes. People will name all these. No, it’s abortion. And the reason we have come to that conclusion, statistically, you’ve got 60 million plus abortions legal in America since 1973. About a third of those occur in the African-American community. That means dead babies. And, with us being 13 percent or less of America’s population, that means we are having more abortions.”

She asked, “Now does it mean that African-Americans are more immoral or don’t care? Absolutely not. We are just regular, everyday people like everyone else. But Planned Parenthood moved into our community with the abortion killing centers and said, ‘We’re here to help you. Let’s kill your baby, so you can have a better life.’ Well, killing our babies doesn’t give us a better life. I have had my own abortions in the 1970s. They were secret then, and after I became born again in 1983 and became a pro-life voice, I began to talk about how those abortions hurt me and my family.”

In 1921, Margaret Sanger founded the Birth Control League, which later changed its name to Planned Parenthood. Dr. Paul Kengor, author of Takedown, writes about when Sanger spoke to the Ku Klux Klan in Silver Lake, New Jersey in May 1926: “The Planned Parenthood founder’s KKK talk was a smash hit. Not only did it go very late, after a very long wait, but she received numerous invitations to speak to other groups like the Klan. Why would the KKK be so interested in Ms. Sanger? The reasons are obvious, a natural fit. It was because Sanger was a passionate racial eugenicist with grandiose dreams of ‘race improvement.’”

Alveda King told our listeners: “Margaret Sanger, the founder of the Birth Control League [later, Planned Parenthood], said, that ‘colored people are like weeds,’ and they need to be eliminated. They need to be exterminated. We don’t want the word to get out, so let’s not package it that way. So that’s why they began to make a lot of propaganda and marketing materials, saying that abortion is a woman’s right. It will help her to finish college, get a job, do this or do that.”

Christian author and educator Dr. George Grant points out that it was not just the African-American community Sanger targeted for population control: “Now for Margaret Sanger and her followers, those undesirable aspects of humanity were largely ethnic minorities: blacks, Jews, oftentimes Slavic peoples from Eastern Europe. These were considered undesirables, ‘imbeciles’ she called them, ‘human weeds’ she called them; and so Planned Parenthood was originally designed to limit the populations of those peoples and to increase the population of what she felt were the desirable races. So right at the heart of the philosophy of Planned Parenthood is this ideological and scientific commitment to a kind of racism.”

Sanger did not want it known that she believed blacks should be targeted for a significant reduction in their population. She wrote, “We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” (Margaret Sanger, Letter to Dr. Clarence J. Gamble, December 10, 1939.)

Alveda notes that Planned Parenthood said in effect, “We don’t want the word to get out, so let’s get a slick marketing plan.” That plan included such things as handing out awards (such as to her uncle—a few years before Planned Parenthood began to do abortions, beginning in 1970) and scholarships. She said, “So many people rose to success on the backs and bucks of Planned Parenthood—the rabid, feminist movement, for example—a lot of people who have been elected…the Congressional black caucus—many of them were put in office and are still in office because of dollars from eugenicists, such as Planned Parenthood.”

To see for yourself the ongoing racism of Planned Parenthood in action, notice how often their clinics are still in very poor neighborhoods. Alveda notes some of those Planned Parenthood neighborhoods have streets nearby named after her uncle.

Alveda King concludes, “That’s a baby in the womb, who should have human rights, and I believe if my uncle were here today, he would have to agree that abortion is a crime against humanity.”

DANGER! Toxic Femininity Ahead.

Trending today is the idea that being masculine is dangerous and must be neutered. Neutered in the public square, in the community and in the home. The recent Gillette ad titled “We Believe: The Best Men Can Be” is a corporate effort to become part of the #MeToo movement in the hopes that by neutering what it is to be a man will make men better.

We are waiting for Estee Lauder or L’Oreal or Maybelline or CHANEL to do a similar ad perhaps titled “We Believe: The Best Women Can Be.”

In the name of inclusion our culture has rejected the scientific fact that males and females are different genetically. Major universities have rejected the idea that gender at birth is binary. Yale now has three choices for gender: M, F and N (non-binary). The absurd has now become public policy with New York City allowing parents to choose the gender of their child as either Male, Female or X (whatever that is).

Today we are seeing a number of toxic females. Toxic femininity is now the new normal. Here are a few examples:

  1. Saturday Night comedy writer Sarah Beattie tweeted, “I will blow whoever manages to punch that MAGA kid in the face.”
  2. Alyssa Milano called Red MAGA Hats “The New White Hood.” The white hood refers to the Ku Klux Klan, the militant arm of the Dixiecrats.
  3. Kathy Griffin who photographed herself holding the severed head of a man, namely President Donald J. Trump.
  4. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib who said ‘Impeach the Motherf*cker. Referring of course to President Trump.
  5. Women’s March leader Linda Sarsour who accused Jews who oppose Anti-Semitic Muslim Congresswoman of having dual loyalties.
  6. In 2017 Nancy Pelosi criticizing Republicans for criticizing liberal hate speech before the shooting of Representative Scalise and others on a Washington, D.C. ball field by a follower of Bernie Sanders. (see video below)
  7. Maxine Waters calling for confronting Trump officials to their faces in public places because she disagrees with their policies.

Examples of toxic femininity are being repeated daily. They are being pushed by Hollywood, where in movies women are stronger, smarter and better than men. In books, newspapers, on television and on social media the mantra is men must be put down in order for women to become equal, whatever that means. Policies like equal pay, abortion, and the LGBTQ movement are feminist driven.

As I wrote in my column America’s Education System is Creating Sissies, with One Notable Exception:

Manhood today is considered a micro aggression. Calling a boy a boy, and upon puberty, calling a man a man will trigger violent responses.

[ … ]

Public schools are inviting transgenders into elementary schools to talk about how wonderful it is to be a girly man. But this phenomenon is not new. It has gradually gained a foothold in our public schools and now is fully out of the closet (no pun intended).

It appears to this male that it is the females who are calling for violence, promoting the resistance and denigrating boys in our public schools. Am I wrong?

Pavlovian Politics

We have all seen people on both sides of the political aisle use catch phrases routinely in response to political topics, but it seems the Democrats have honed this skill to razor sharpness. For example, in her recent “60 Minutes” interview, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was asked by Anderson Cooper if she thought President Trump was a racist, to which her reflexive response was, 

“Yes, no question. When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy, when you look at how he reacted to Charlottesville incident where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crisis, like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it is night and day.”

Her response seemed almost robotic. I found her use of words like “dog whistles,” “white supremacy” and “manufactures crisis” illuminating as if she had been programmed to use such expressions on command, kind of like Pavlov’s dog. Say a certain word or ask a question, and the person begins to salivate automatically. Frankly, it’s kind of scary.

The expression “dog whistles” is particularly interesting as it is now commonly used by the Left to denote how they believe conservatives respond. Now I will admit I have seen Republicans use catch phrases, such as “Lock her up” and “CNN sucks,” but I have found conservatives more inclined to engage in honest debate as opposed to Democrats trained in Pavlovian responses.

Do you want to stop a left-wing Democrat in his/her tracks? Just tell them you have voted for a Democrat in the past, as you thought the person was the right candidate for the job, and then ask if they ever voted for a Republican. A wild-eyed expression comes over their face and they are at a loss for words.

I had a Democrat friend who recently told me point blank, “I will never go to any meeting where a Republican is speaking.” So much for open-mindedness. I also guess I will not see him in any of my audiences any time soon.

What I am finding with Democrats is there is less courteous debate and more conditioning in terms of talking points. Whenever I get in an argument with them, I feel I am dealing directly with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow or CNN’s Don Lemon, et al. Interestingly, if you ask them to explain their rehearsed talking points, they are at a loss. This speaks volumes about the power of the main stream media. Further, they tend to turn up the volume as if you cannot hear them. I have found both young and older Democrats becoming excessively passionate and less inclined to hear opposing views, thereby emboldening them to attack their opponents.

Now there is a movement in the media to label Republicans as racist, hate-filled liars. This is all being done as a prelude to the 2020 elections to condition their constituents to believe Republicans are evil and must be eliminated. Through the use of identity politics, the media is creating stereotypes intended for character assassination. I don’t think Hitler could have done it any better.

As to racism, let us never forget not one Republican ever owned a slave. In fact, the Republican Party was created to abolish slavery (anyone remember a guy named Lincoln?). The Left conveniently overlooks the fact that the Ku Klux Klan and Jim Crow laws were all Democrat inventions, and somehow try to blame the Republicans for their creation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nonetheless, by training people to repetitively chant “Racist, Racist, Racist,” they are hoping people will develop a reflexive action against the Republicans.

By religiously parroting the talking points of the Left, the Democrats have become a party of lemmings controlled by the news media who has plotted them on a course to tear their opponents apart. More likely though, they will end up in the abyss.

Black Hebrew Israelites viciously attacked Covington Catholic Students. Who are they?

The media is ignoring a sect that calls themselves the Black Hebrew Israelites, who verbally attacked a group of Covington Catholic students near the Washington Monument on Saturday, January 19th, 2019. See the below Tucker Carlson Tonight video, at the 3:40 mark, to watch and listen to what the Covington Catholic students were called by the Black Hebrew Israelites sect.

According to Ryan Turner from the Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry:

One sect [of the Black Hebrew Israelites] originated before the Civil War. There was another sect founded later in 1896, the Church of God and Saints of Christ, by William Crowdy. In the 1980s other sects began to appear, such as those lead by Yahweh Ben Yahweh (1935 – 2007), or Hulon Mitchell, Jr. There are a number of other sects of this broad Hebrew Israelite movement known as the Commandment Keepers, The Law Keepers, House of Judah, and the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem, just to name a few.1

Let’s look at the Black Hebrew Israelites sect founded by Yahweh Ben Yahweh (a.k.a. Hulon Mitchell, Jr).

Khalil Amani, a former member of the Nation of Yahweh found the below video of Minister Hulon Shah (a.k.a. Hulon X, Hulon Mitchell, Jr ) who would become Yahweh Ben Yahweh from 1967 until his death in 2007.

Khalil Whet Pen Amani states:

Born Hulon Mitchell. Joined the Nation of Islam circa 1960 as Hulon X and given the last name “Shah” by The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, he became Hulon Shah, the minister of Temple #15 in Atlanta. He would later become a Christian preacher named “Father Michel” and then eventually become YAHWEH BEN YAHWEH in Miami in the 1980s.

Khalil Amani became an Elder under Yahweh Ben Yahweh and headed the Newark, NJ temple. Leaving after five years, he would become the most out-spoken critic of his former leader, Yahweh ben Yahweh and ended up in the Federal Witness Protection Program for lifting the veil of secrecy and criminality surrounding the Nation of Yahweh.

His story is told in Pulitzer Prize winning writer Sydney P. Freedberg’s book, “Brother Love: Murder, Money and a Messiah” (Pantheon Books 1994) and his self-published autobiography, “My Id: Ignant & Dissfunkshunal! Life in the Yahweh Cult and the Witness Protection Program“.

At this time it is unknown which sect of the Black Hebrew Israelites confronted the Covington Catholic students in Washington, D.C. However their obscene racist rants were captured on tape in the below report by Tucker Carlson Tonight:

Ryan Turner states that Black Hebrew Israelite sects have the following practices:

  1. Some groups stand on the street corners of major cities and condemn people for their allegedly false beliefs while using vulgar language.2 The Hebrew Israelites are very combative and generally do not want to listen when their views are challenged.3
  2. They frequently use Hebrew words such as Yah [the name of God, Yahweh, shortened as Yah], Yahoshua [Jesus], Shabbat [Sabbath], etc.
  3. They keep the Jewish Sabbath and many other Jewish customs including circumcision, dietary laws, and the observance of certain Jewish holidays and festivals like Yom Kippur and Passover.
  4. They use the Old and New Testament to support their teachings, especially the five books of Moses (Genesis to Deuteronomy).
  5. They do not consider themselves to be Jews in the modern sense of the term as associated with Orthodox, Reformed, Conservative, or Hasidic Judaism.

Why Are Leftists Thrilled by Abortion?

Hillary Clinton and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced their satanic bill to allow abortions through all nine months up to birth. The intense jubilant faces of these two Democrats in the photo while launching their baby killing campaign was bone-chillingly evil. Clinton and Cuomo held their joined hands high in the air like an enthusiastic victorious battle-cry as they grinned ear to ear. Why were they so happy? Why were these leftist politicians barely able to contain their excitement over the thought of killing more babies?

During her presidential campaign, Hillary vowed to protect animals from cruelty and abuse. And yet, Hillary is elated over her bill to allow abortion doctors to deliver a nine-month-old baby except for the head; then shove scissors into its brain to kill it. This barbaric, shameful and evil procedure is called partial birth abortion. 

Hillary cosponsored the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act to end the slaughter of horses for their meat. Meanwhile, Hillary passionately defends Planned Parenthood which kills babies for their meat; selling dead baby body parts – intact heads sell for premium prices. Planned Parenthood has made over $100 million selling aborted baby parts. 

Abortion zealots fear a conservative majority on the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade the unconstitutional law which made abortion legal. Here’s how abortion activist Sarah Silverman expressed the urgency of keeping constitutional judge Brett Kavanaugh off the Supreme Court. “This is a position for life, y’all”. In her sad perverted thinking, Silverman infers that women will die if they cannot for whatever reason kill the horrible thing (baby) growing inside them even on the birth date. 

Eighty-five year old pro-abortion Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s health is failing. If she dies or retires, leftists fear Trump’s replacement will be a conservative. Panicked female abortion zealots are offering their body parts to keep Ginsberg alive. Abortion zealot Alyssa Milano offered her ribs, kidneys and a lung to Justice Ginsberg. Notice the intense passion to do whatever necessary to freely kill babies in the womb.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Alyssa Milano through The Fuzzy Pet Foundation compassionately rescued a dog in South Korea being raised for slaughter. It appears that Milano has zero compassion for innocent babies. She is insanely committed to murdering them before birth. Also, Milano has not complained about Planned Parenthood profiting from the sales of slaughtered baby body parts.

In 2018, abortion was the number one cause of death worldwide; over 41 million children killed before birth. Again I ask, why is this horrifying stat cause for leftists to celebrate?

In a landslide, Ireland voters repealed their anti-abortion laws. Many observers were uncomfortable with the eerie jubilation of thousands of women in the streets hugging while crying tears of sheer joy. 

Co-director of the abortion campaign, Orla O’Connor said, “This is a monumental day for women in Ireland. This is about women taking their rightful place in Irish society, finally.”

Another Irish women thrilled about killing babies said, “ It’s such a great victory for women, for men, for our future generation. It’s just – I’m so emotional.”

“And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…” (Genesis 1:28) Despite God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply”, many youths vow not to have children because leftists have convinced them that childbirth is extremely destructive to the environment. Leftists foolishly believe they are smarter than God.

Unquestionably, abortion is the holy sacrament of the demonic religion of liberalism. Shockingly, over 20 religious leaders gathered to bless the opening of a new Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Washington DC. President and CEO, Dr Laura Meyers said, “In almost every message to our staff, I talk about our doing sacred work.” https://bit.ly/2RsMSaj What is wrong with these people? How can they claim moral and spiritual high ground killing babies and selling their body parts?

Insanely, a majority of the religious leaders who blessed the new dead-baby-chop-shop are black. A disproportionate high number of aborted babies are blacks. Right thinking black ministers have been sounding the alarm for years how blacks are aborting themselves in extinction.

Leftists are in constant rebellion against God’s natural order. Leftist women act like pregnancy is God’s cursed disease as devastating as cancer and abortion is the life-saving cure.

Abortion zealots do not view abortion as a necessary evil. They are actually thrilled when a mother murders her baby. There is something strange and disturbingly evil about leftists having all the sympathy in the world for animals and not an ounce of sympathy (even disdain) for innocent unborn babies – jubilant when a mother kills her baby.

How The People’s Cube Owns Wokeness Like a True Boss

Diverse members of the Cube kollektive! Everybody knows that it is now the ”in” thing to be woke. Being woke is being korrekt, and being korrekt is being woke. Wokeness has certain markers, and I have carefully taken a long time looking at all of the evidence, and have thus determined that all evidence points to the fact that we at the People’s Cube are not just woke – we’re still woke, and have always been woke. We were woke before everyone else was woke. We are the forefront pioneers of wokeness. 

The evidence is undeniable: 

Attention to current events. Our search for the most current truth never stops. Thus, before Chicago declared Obama’s birthday to be a holiday, we’ve been drinking beet vodka and throwing cool parties at Tractor Barn #2 on this day since 2008. Take that, newly woke people!!

Representation. No one represents more minority groups than we do – including dead historical personages, singular brains and other body parts, all sorts of mammals, inanimate objects, and household appliances, especially toasters, which one of us has married. For good measure of an example: I myself am the People’s State-approved minority furry trash <3. Enough said.

Mindless obedience. One can’t be called woke without a blind and unconditional acceptance of the word and the divine authority of the Party, the State, and the Media. Our members never tire of korrekting each other’s thinking and denouncing the guilty of wrongthink. 

Leaders of tomorrow. We at the People’s Cube have developed the concept of The Glorious World of Next Tuesday™. While everyone focuses on the here and now, our focus is on the future, which makes us the pioneers of wokeness. While others follow, we seize the front and tell you what to think. We tell you who’s on the korrekt side of history and who is not – because we’ve seen the future and ran away. It’s therefore not a coincidence that society, and life always imitates/emulates The People’s Cube. Always.
