SecDef Austin Refuses to Testify on Afghanistan Debacle

Both Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, including chairman Bob Menendez, expressed mounting frustration Tuesday with the Biden administration after Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin refused to appear before the Committee to answer questions about the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, according to Breitbart News.

“I’m very disappointed that Secretary Austin declined our request to testify today. A full accounting of the U.S. response to this crisis is not complete without the Pentagon, especially when it comes to the complete collapse of the U.S.-trained and funded Afghan military,” said Menendez.

The Pentagon issued a statement Tuesday claiming that Austin wanted to attend the hearings but was busy with other “commitments.”

“I expect the secretary will avail himself to the committee in the near future, and if he does not I may consider use of committee subpoena power to compel him and others over the course of these last 20 years to testify,” Menendez warned.

“There’s questions that we really need to have answered, and it’s disheartening that they declined to testify,” added Sen. James Risch (R-ID), ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee.

It’s more than disheartening; it’s suspicious. Considering the magnitude of the Biden administration’s foreign policy debacle in Afghanistan, Austin’s evasion speaks volumes.

Addressing the Matter of “Racists and Extremists” in the Military

During that same confirmation hearing, Austin vowed to rid the U.S. military of the many “racists and extremists” that allegedly had infiltrated its ranks. “The job of the Department of Defense is to keep America safe from our enemies,” he said. “But we can’t do that if some of those enemies lie within our own ranks.” Austin made those remarks with reference to the infamous January 6, 2021 incident where hundreds of unarmed people, claiming to be supporters of President Trump, had temporarily occupied the U.S. Capitol building in Washington to protest what they viewed as a stolen presidential election. Austin and his allies in the Biden Administration voiced concern regarding the fact that about 50 of those individuals were, as CBS News reported, “current or former military members.” But that seemingly ominous statistic was not nearly as significant as it may first have appeared, because only one of the 50 was an active-duty service member at the time, and just four were current part-time troops in the Army Reserve or National Guard.

On February 3, 2021, Austin began to make good on his promise to crack down on “racists and extremists” in the military when he announced a 60-day staggered pause and review – known in the military as a “stand down” – during which commanders and leaders across every branch of the Armed Services could search for evidence of domestic “extremism” among uniformed personnel. This process would include interviews with every service member vis-à-vis their experience with, and their observations of, extremist ideology and behavior among their peers.

Ted Cruz Slams Blinken over Afghan Child Brides: ‘You Brought A Crisis to America’

Ted Cruz slams Blinken over Afghan child brides: ‘You brought a crisis to America’

By New York, Post, September 14, 2021

Sen. Ted Cruz confronted Secretary of State Antony Blinken about child brides being brought to the United States from Afghanistan amid the chaotic withdrawal by the Biden administration, demanding to know what guidance the State Department has been provided to rescue minors among the evacuees that have been victims of sexual abuse.

The Texas Republican argued that the Biden administration has failed to properly vet Afghans who were evacuated and brought to the United States following the fall of the country’s government to the Taliban, potentially bringing “a humanitarian crisis to America.”

“Not only did you fail to evacuate Americans and green card holders who were there, but you also brought in tens of thousands of Afghans who had wholly inadequate vetting, bringing many of them to the United States.,” Cruz charged during an often heated Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing Tuesday.

“And one of the things that has done is that has brought in a humanitarian crisis to America. Child marriage and domestic abuse tragically are widespread in Afghanistan,” he said.

Cruz noted that the World Health Organization reports that more than half of the women in Afghanistan are married as child brides, and 90 percent of women are subject to domestic abuse.

“On Aug. 27, according to public reports, you distributed internal documentation, highlighting numerous instances and intake centers of sexual abuse, in which much older grown Afghan males appeared with children, young children, claimed they were their brides, claimed they were their wives. And the documents said the State Department urgently requested guidance.”

Cruz then demanded answers on whether the State Department had received the requested guidance or could provide information on whether there was a plan to prevent the sexual abuse of minors.

“My question is as follows: Did you receive that urgent guidance? How many children have been subject to sexual abuse? What have you done to rescue young children from illegal and abusive relationships after being brought to America by the State Department?” Cruz said.

Blinked said he was unaware of the “specific guidance you’re referring to,” but “happy to look at it,” adding that the officers are looking into cases of concern.

“Across the entire government, everyone involved in the evacuation effort whether it’s at a transit point, in one of the countries that we negotiated with, whether it’s here in the United States at Dulles, or Philadelphia, or the military bases, we have all of our officers at extreme vigilance to look for and to deal with any cases or concerns that arise,” Blinken replied.

Cruz went on to press Blinken on the level of urgency the State Department had toward addressing the matter and the number of cases it was aware of.

Apple, Google, Amazon Spying On You, Lawsuits Filed

Voluntary fascism from America’s biggest corporations.

Apple, Google, Amazon spying on you, lawsuits claim

All 3 tech companies have voice assistant features and claim that they do not retain the user’s conversations

By Brooke Crothers, FOX Business, September 14, 2O21:

A federal judge has given a green light for a class-action lawsuit claiming that Apple’s Siri voice assistant violates users’ privacy.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White said the plaintiffs would be allowed to move forward with lawsuits trying to prove that Siri routinely recorded their private conversations because of “accidental activations” and that Apple provided the conversations to advertisers, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs claim that Apple violated the federal Wiretap Act and California privacy law, among other claims.

Separate lawsuits against Google and Amazon make similar claims about voice assistants. One of the most common claims cited in the lawsuits is that conversations were recorded without user consent and then used by advertisers to target the plaintiffs.

This is happening against a backdrop of surging smart speaker sales.

As of June 2021, the installed base of smart speakers in the U.S. reached 126 million units, jumping from 20 million units in June 2017, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).

Amazon has the biggest slice of the installed base, with 69% as of June of this year.

“The installed base of smart speakers grew considerably during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding over 25 million units in the past year,” said Josh Lowitz, CIRP Partner and Co-Founder in a statement.

Amazon, Apple and Google all offer smart speakers that use variations of voice assistant technology that is activated when users say key words such as “Hey Siri” for Apple devices or “OK Google” for Google products or “Alexa” for Amazon smart devices.

Amazon devices store that data when activated with a key word or so-called wake word. “No audio is stored or sent to the cloud unless the device detects the wake word (or Alexa is activated by pressing a button),” an Amazon spokesperson told FOX Business in an email.

“Customers have several options to manage their recordings, including the option to not have their recordings saved at all and the ability to automatically delete recordings on an ongoing three- or 18-month basis,” the spokesperson added.

If you don’t want to be recorded by Alexa, in the Alexa app go into the “Privacy” menu. Then go to “Manage your Alexa data” then “Choose how long to save recordings.” Then select “Don’t save recordings.”

Amazon collects and uses voice recordings to deliver and improve services, according to the company. This includes helping train Alexa to better understand different accents and dialects and to provide the right response to requests.

Amazon also said it “manually” reviews data but does not sell it to third parties.

“To help improve Alexa, we manually review and annotate a small fraction of one percent of Alexa requests. Access to human review tools is only granted to employees who require them to improve the service,” the Amazon spokesperson said.

“Our annotation process does not associate voice recordings with any customer identifiable information. Customers can opt-out of having their voice recordings included in the fraction of one percent of voice recordings that get reviewed,” the spokesperson said.

By default, Google doesn’t retain your audio recordings, José Castañeda, a Google Spokesperson, told Fox Business. “We dispute the claims in this case and will vigorously defend ourselves,” Castañeda said in a statement.

However, if you want to confirm that the Google setting is off, go to your Google account and then to “Data and Privacy” then “Web & App Activity” and make sure the box is unchecked next to “Include audio recordings.” The default setting is unchecked.

Apple no longer retains Siri recordings without user permission, according to an Apple statement made in 2019. Siri will only retain your data if you choose to opt-in via settings on Apple devices.

Amazon would not comment on the lawsuit, and Apple has yet to respond to a request for comment.

PODCAST: Avoiding Political Censorship

So you are a conservative and want to write a political OpEd piece, eh? And you want publishers to print it and social media to promote it. The reality is that it is easier said than done. I do not care how well you write or the importance of your message, it is necessary to form relationships with members of the press. Even conservative publications are tightly controlled by publishers and editors. Frankly, it’s a “good ole boy” club you have to contend with. You’re best chance for success is to correspond with them to establish some rapport. If they happen to make a presentation somewhere, be sure to attend and introduce yourself sometime during the meeting. Like most people, publishers and editors like to associate a name with a face (remember this, next time you print business cards). If you cannot contact them this way, pick up the phone and call them to discuss your idea for writing.

I have been writing political copy for several years now and I have learned a thing or two about censorship along the way. Hopefully, the following tips will be of use to you in getting your article published. First, let’s consider the embodiment of your article; here we need to discuss the Title, the Body, and Follow-up.

  1. The Title – give some serious thought to this as it will be used to entice people to read your article, and will be monitored by social media which automatically scans titles to alert them of potentially unsuitable content. For example, try to avoid the following keywords from your title: BIDEN, TRUMP, OBAMA, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, LIBERAL, CONSERVATIVE, ANTIFA, BLM, KAMALA, AOC, ILLEGAL, IMMIGRANTS, BORDER, AFGHANISTAN, IRAN, GREEN, BUDGET, ENVIRONMENT, SOCIALISM, CAPITALISM, POLITICS, POLITICIAN, etc. Such words are automatically picked-up by social media and may result in one of three things: voiding or delaying your posting, the triggering of “fact checkers” which will also void your copy, or suppression of the dissemination of your message. For example, it has been my experience on Facebook, where I have nearly 2,000 “friends,” depending on my posting, either they will all see it or only a handful (my political pieces typically fall into the latter category). Social media also monitors patterns in your postings which can result in an adverse effect on your readership. So keep this in mind when you create your title, your headline is important to getting your article posted and promoted.
  2. The Body – keep it clean and avoid crude language. Both publishers and social media alike will scan your copy looking for foul language and will stop your article from being published if so discovered. Also, add facts to support your argument, but be sure to note their source. Better yet, embed links into the copy to allow the reader to visit the source of the fact.
  3. Follow-up – provide a very brief bio of yourself (one to two lines at most). Be sure to include information on how to contact you, such as an e-mail address or web site. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU PRINT YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER as you will likely be harassed by wackos.

If your article is published on the web, be sure to follow reader feedback. Under no circumstance should you get into a heated debate with a detractor, just ignore them or, better yet, delete them if possible. As Mark Twain said, “Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

Here are a couple more things I have observed regarding social media and e-mail:

1. In some social media, such as Facebook, you may join different clubs. For example, I belong to several political clubs within Facebook. If I have a political column I want to promote, I may “copy and paste” a notice in the clubs as well as notify certain friends (what I like to call “germ carriers” – people who will help spread your message). Here’s the problem: if you “copy and paste” too fast and too often, social media will automatically detect this and cancel your postings. So what can be done? Two things: do not “copy and paste” too rapidly, and slightly alter your postings. For example:

TEACHING RACISM IN THE CLASSROOM – Here is one way left-wing politics penetrates the classroom.

TEACHING RACISM IN THE CLASSROOM – Here is one way left-wing politics penetrates the classroom.

BRYCE – TEACHING RACISM IN THE CLASSROOM – Here is one way left-wing politics penetrates the classroom.

As an aside, this “copy and paste” phenomenon is actively used by the Democrats, particularly in the “Letters to the Editor” sections of newspapers. They simply “copy and paste” the same text for publication in several national papers. If you are properly organized, it takes just a few minutes to perform this.

2. This same phenomenon occurs in e-mail, particularly if you are trying to send bulk e-mails. If you are using Gmail, Yahoo!, MSN or others, they will be automatically looking for bulk e-mails and, if you are not careful, you will be classified a “spammer” and none of your messages will get through. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do here: break down your e-mail list into smaller batches (30-40 receivers at most); change the name in the “Subject” section of the e-mail to avoid detection of repetition (see above), and; mail to your receivers as “Blind Carbon Copies” (BCC), this keeps people from seeing the other receivers on your list.

3. If you don’t play by the rules of the social media, or write something they do not like, you may get suspended for a period of time (aka, “Facebook Jail”) or expelled completely. You can fight the suspension, but I haven’t heard of too many people being successful in reversing their decision. The length of suspension varies, anywhere from days, to weeks, to months, to permanent. When you come back, you are put on a watch list and carefully monitored. Another way to overcome this problem is to register as a new user, but use a substantially different name. The only problem with this, you lose all of your “friends” you have connected with over time, thereby hampering your ability to communicate with them (which is what the social media wants).

The last point I want to make is regarding fights with Liberals regarding your work. If you write several pieces regarding politics, as I do, and they are not aligned with Democrat dogma, they will assign an individual to monitor and criticize your work. The person’s objective is to harass, discredit, and tempt you into a fight. No matter what you write, they will disagree with you, regardless of how logically correct your argument is. Not surprising, the person is usually an “anonymous” person to avoid identifying themselves and face retribution themself. As such, they are cowards.

If your work is routinely printed in a journal, particularly if it is a public periodical, they will demand the publisher censor you and suppress your 1st Amendment Right to free speech. Again, this is what happens when you become popular and do not follow their political dogma.

When you are censored by a publication or social media, do not be surprised if you are not allowed to defend yourself. We must remember the mainstream media is very liberal, as is social media, making their stranglehold on what is printed or said rather formidable. They have a deep disdain for opposing opinions and will go to any lengths to thwart them.

Mark Twain seemed to sum it up accurately when he observed years ago, “It has become a sarcastic proverb that a thing must be true if you saw it in a newspaper. That is the opinion intelligent people have of that lying vehicle in a nutshell. But the trouble is that the stupid people, who constitute the grand overwhelming majority of this and all other nations, do believe and are moulded and convinced by what they get out of a newspaper, and there is where the harm lies.”

The most important trait you, as a writer, must possess is perseverance. Keep looking for new venues to write for, such as a conservative club newsletter, local papers, political blogs and podcasts, etc. Next, learn from your mistakes; consider language and sentence structure, excessive use of jargon, typographical errors and punctuation. Most importantly, KEEP WRITING! Practice makes perfect.

Good luck!

Keep the Faith!

Biden’s Damndest Disasters So Far . . .

Well Joe Biden has been in the Oval Office since January 20th, 2021. We are now into the 9th month of his administration. Each day we the people are seeing more onerous government overreach. The ideals of  life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are being replaced with do as I mandate or else!

What  Biden Hasn’t done for America?

Here’s a list of what we call Biden’s Dammed Blunders. Please feel free to add to this list in the comments section, if you wish.

  1. The Afghanistan Disaster. Biden has done his best to leave Afghanistan in such a mess that even our staunched allies are abandoning him.
  2. The Vaccine Mandate Disaster. Biden’s vaccine mandate has inflamed the people who are now striking back at his unconstitutional power grab. Over half of state governors are looking to stop his mandate.
  3. The Economic Disaster. Inflation is on the rise. When Trump was president regular gasoline was at $2 a gallon. Under Biden it has risen to $3 a gallon. People are beginning to feel the pinch.
  4. Tax and Spend Ongoing Disaster. The Democrats in Congress, with the encouragement of Biden and his handlers, are doing everything they can to tax and spend at historic levels.
  5. The Undoing Everything Trump Did Disasters. Biden from day one undid President Trump’s executive orders and by doing so has made America less safe, less prosperous and less democratic. We are fast approaching a dictatorship.
  6. The Biden is a Laughing Stock Disaster. Biden has made himself, and with it his office, a laughing stock on the international stage. His policies in the Middle East have empowered our enemies (e.g. the Taliban, al Qaeda and Iran) and put in jeopardy our allies including NATO, Israel and other friendly gulf nations.
  7. Destroying America’s Energy Independence Disaster. Biden has gone full tilt green. Biden and Democrats have fully embraced the Green New Deal and are working to destroy our ability to be energy independent. It started with the canceling of the Keystone pipeline and continues to this day.
  8. The Immigration Disaster. Biden has made immigrating Afghans a priority, without vetting them a properly, over extracting American citizens from Kabul. The same goes for illegals crossing our Southern border. No vetting, no testing for Covid and other diseases.
  9. The Ongoing Border Disaster. The Southern border crisis coincided with the inauguration of Biden and continues to this day. Illegal aliens are flooding the Southern border and Biden is doing nothing to stop it. This means that illegals are getting more and more benefits and care that American citizens.
  10. The Woke Military Disaster. Biden and his Department of Defence has gone on a woke offensive. They are targeting those who are white and support the U.S. Constitution. Wokeism is the new normal in our military, degrading our war fighting capabilities to become more “inclusive.”
  11. The National Security Disaster. The only security under Biden is to protect our enemies (i.e. Iran) and harm our allies particularly Israel. National security is not a priority for Biden and his handlers. Biden’s priority is controlling the American people.
  12. Biden’s Damn Lies. Biden promised to unite Americans but his actions have divided us. Biden and his spokespersons are pushing the big lies of Covid, vaccines, white supremacy and it’s all Trumps fault. And the media is not only encouraging these lies but is actively supporting each and every one.
  13. Biden’s Dammed Dementia. It is clear that Biden is not mentally up to the challenges of being president. He is heavily scripted and given only the words that his handlers approve for him. He is not spontaneous and certainly not clever. If anything Biden is at best a puppet and at worst a very sick man.
  14. Biden’s Actions Speak Louder Than His Damn Words. Biden makes promises and then fails to meet or keep those promises or worse does the exact opposite of what he promised. The people are now seeing the impact of his actions and they have lost confidence and trust in him and his administration.
  15. The Abortion Damnation. Biden claims to be a Catholic but fully supports abortion for any reason. The Catholic Church is absolutely anti-abortion.
  16. That Damn Second Amendment. Biden is, like the Democrat Party, against the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Disarming citizens is a key step toward a totalitarian state.

Conclusion

Actions always speak louder than words and promises kept are more important than promises made.

During his inaugural address President Trump stated:

Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.

[ … ]

What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of our country, will be forgotten no longer.

Biden said the following during his inaugural address:

This is our historic moment of crisis and challenge, and unity is the path forward.

Which President told the truth? Which President by his actions has kept his promise?

Trump kept his promise to insure that the people became the rulers of America, again. Biden, by his own actions, has shown that it is his way or the highway, the American people be damned.

Are you as an individual, or America as a nation, better off today under Biden than you were under President Trump?

I think not.

We have just over three more years of Biden. Heaven forbid!

Lost in the Chaos: The Danger of Total Politics

Our politics is idolatrous; it claims too much both in scope and certainty.

I’ve spent most of my adult life studying and teaching philosophy, having never lost the sense that the examined life was worth living, and that it is incumbent on humans to reflect on and weigh their actions and commitments. If, however, the current reductionistic assumptions are true, and we are no more than wet robots, my life has been somewhat ridiculous.

If humans are simply a combination of hardware and software better explained by chemistry than theology, and if our values and mores are cultural memes tainted by unjust power dynamics, then the quest to become fully responsible agents is a fool’s errand. As Terry Eagleton notes, a flattened universe goes hand in hand with flattened humans. Postmodern people, unlike earlier nonbelievers, do not experience the loss of God “as a trauma, an affront, a source of anguish,” since they don’t “experience it at all.” There is no tragedy to this loss, since it was never felt as a loss.

Even if the “death of God involves the death of Man,” this, too, is not experienced as loss, since the human is thought so flat as not to possess the “space” in which either God or a self could reside. Not only has the image of God disappeared, so also have those inner depths where a self might hide. Generations raised without God are, for Eagleton, generations for whom culture, psychology, literature, and morality are stuck in the shallows. We view “depth and interiority,” and the self linked to such depths, as belonging “to a clapped-out metaphysics” that we no longer know. It’s now so alien as not even to be knowingly rejected.

Moreover, if reductionism is true, the ancient idea that the soul and the city are analogues to the cosmos, and thus that we ought to live according to nature, is similarly defunct. Cosmos is a “supreme untruth,” to cite Nietzsche; removing God or the Logos from the world order while smuggling the same assumptions into our rationality, is still to refuse to see the real pattern of the world. A thoroughly clear view of reality would see things more starkly. War, again, has become the father of all.

Consequently, it’s hardly surprising to note our obsessions with power and struggle. Not only are there Foucault and Althusser (for the left), but also Bronze Age PervertJulius Evola, and Ernst Jünger on the metaphysics of pain and war (for the non-conservative variants on the “right”). Held in common, however, is an ersatz transcendence, the desperate attempt to replace the kingdom of God with the kingdom of Man, grace with power, and our supernatural vocation with politicized rationality—to immanentize the eschaton, in other words.

Politics is not first; philosophy is prior, and even that is servant to theology. Reversing the order is a drastic mistake, albeit an all but inevitable error for those lost in chaos. When the universe is utterly immanent, when the human is reduced, when culture is simply entertainment, it is hardly surprising that politics will occupy the centre of thought and imagination. Such a politics thinks too highly of itself. Not only does a politics of ultimacy attempt to govern the entirety or totality of human affairs, it also exhibits a finality or completeness in its judgements.

If there is a transcendent reality beyond human control, politics isn’t total—doesn’t include everything—for politics is simply incompetent in some domains of human life. If there is a divine authority, the judgments of politics are not final, for they are subordinate to the judgements of God. In our own moment, politics seems all-encompassing, inserting its snout into what is properly private, personal, or associational, and political judgments seem to be of considerable importance, tantamount to the demanding claims of morality.

Non-totalizing politics keeps in its proper sphere, and does not interfere with religion, family, conscience, and associations. Furthermore, it is prudent, recognizing that while there are intrinsic moral wrongs, there are far fewer (if any) intrinsic political obligations and thus vast space for prudential disagreement. You might prefer policy A while I prefer policy B, and we both might have good reasons for our preferences; neither of us is a moral monster or outside the domain of acceptable society due to our diverging views.

Just now, however, politics seems to be the only game in town—everything is political!—and political views are absolutist, dogmatic, and accompanied by an aura of hyperventilating moralism. Somewhat counter-intuitively, the more we are lost in the chaos, with the human reduced to mere matter and chemicals, and where God is dead, the more fervent and demanding our politics becomes, even though reductionism lacks any capacity to ground or justify any moral or political norms.

A thoroughgoing reductionism cannot in any way justify human dignity, or equality, or justice, for such things simply do not mean anything in a universe in which everything is merely matter in motion. As it turns out, the old fear that religion was a conversation-stopper and resulted in political dogmatism overlooked the more worrisome culprit: the (incoherent) dogmatism of immanentized secularism.

Politics oughtn’t be first, but it has become first, and it has become vicious as a result.

Politics oughtn’t be first, but it has become first, and it has become vicious as a result. Our politics is idolatrous; it claims too much both in scope and certainty. It’s also making our society chaotic, with everything from family reunions to school board meetings to sporting events overly fraught with political implications and danger. It feels as though no space remains for the pleasures that make life sweet, and that are, in the end, our own business. Consider how difficult it has become to have guests over for dinner—the very food is charged with political meaning, and someone will have a moral-political statement to make about it, one made with zealous intensity.

Politics-as-ultimate seems evident on both left and right. Obviously, there’s endless hectoring or lecturing in social settings, as everyone must share his or her expertise, but that’s more bad manners than a harm. More disturbing is the impulse, on both left and right, to want politics to be overly involved and ambitious, to want to use power to solve the human condition, to have the state push thick goals, to overcome the limits and burdens of very human challenges. (I cannot bring myself to sympathize with those conservatives who think parents should be compensated for caring for their own children, for instance. It’s real work, to be sure, but it’s entirely in the domain of your own agency, not the state’s.) It’s all destined to fail, because it’s simply beyond the competence of government, and it’s all too dangerous, with the state absorbing enormous swaths of what ought to be left for civic associations and families.

It sounds boring, I know, but a perfectly decent life can be lived in suburban America. Peter Augustine Lawler used to make this point, and when I was a young man, I thought his claim uninteresting and slightly insipid. Now I agree with him. Yes, suburbs can be kitschy, monotonous places lacking the excitement and culture of the cities or towns. Sure, but there is still no intrinsic reason why their residents cannot read Plato, enjoy the hammer dulcimer, observe their religious duties, listen to Bach, form friendships, brew beer, coach the softball team, start a business, or do any of those things that free people choose in living decent, prosperous, meaningful, morally responsible lives.

The point isn’t about suburbs. The point is that every human lives out the drama of existence in his or her way, and with great risk: they gain or lose heaven, embrace or reject love, bring a child into being or not, form friendships and romances or sink into loneliness, become sages or fools. Every life is a fascinating mystery of agency and conscience, virtue and vice, and that drama can be played out successfully even under the conditions of imperfection.

Even under the conditions of liberalism.

We don’t need politics to absorb all, and we would be well advised to keep the fully human things in their place of primacy, with politics confined within prudent limits and modest aims. If we forget or forgo the primacy of the person, choosing instead the story of power and chaos, it seems likely we’ll lose the cosmos of our own souls.

Maricopa County Canvass Report — Prepare to be “STUNNED!”

Step by step the examination of the 2020 vote, at least in Maricopa County, Arizona, makes clear that absolute fraud occurred removing President Trump from office. There are many who still hold the belief no voter irregularity occurred. That is their right, but pain staking work has been accomplished to at least determine if significant irregularities did occur in the last election, and could those irregularities be corrected so there exists no doubt about the integrity of our electoral process moving forward. Yet there are those regardless of political affiliation who see even that exercise as a waste of time, not necessary, political theatre, grand-standing or at the least sour grapes over a legitimate election loss.

Final Election 2020 Grassro… by Jim Hoft

The Maricopa County Canvass Report will provide you with more ammunition regardless of which side you proclaim. You may also wish to consider the following from the partial findings of the Formal Forensic Evaluation submitted to the Arizona State Senate (the Final Forensic Report of Findings is to follow shortly, and has been submitted to the Senate for review).

  • 168,000 on-demand ballots were ordered on election day – this alone goes against a Court Order that no one was permitted to vote if not registered on or prior to October 15th.
  • 3,981 individuals did vote but were registered after the court order previously stated.
  • 18,000 votes were removed from voting rolls after voting.
  • 74,293 mail-in ballots with no clear indication as to who was the proper and legal registered voter were found.
  • 11,326 people did not show up on voter rolls on November 7th, but appeared on December 4th.

The Maricopa County voting system was not properly maintained or secure, and the anti-virus systems were not updated since August 2019. There was tremendous vulnerability at forensic examination. The Maricopa County Supervisors did finally come forth and reverse all their statements about voting integrity and security stating a breach did occur to the server, but this acknowledgement came in January 2021, well after the election. Likewise thru public records examination the election process was compromised, and discovered that the Registration Server had been breached. Furthermore, it was demonstrated for forensic examination purposes that it only took 10-minutes to breach and access the voting system.
Another major revelation upon full forensic examination showed that Maricopa County Officials did not have access to the voting machines, did not have the passwords to access, nor had they been able to access in any manner – only Dominion had access to their own machines. At forensic examination it was shown that on February 5th, 37,646 requests for passwords on the voting machines were made by four users, and all of this occurred during one day.

In November of 2020, days after the election, Arizona State Rep. Mark Finchem sought answers, especially after a Maricopa Superior Court allowed for a random sample of ballots to prove authenticity of said ballots. It was shown that from 100 random ballots 6% were considered a “highly unlikely match” which equated to a possible 199,980 highly questionable votes. Biden won Arizona by only 10,457 votes. Thus began the quest to get to the bottom of questions brought by hundreds of citizens, and quickly reaching into the thousands, who demanded answers. A Joint Legislative Public Hearing was held on November 30, 2020, in downtown Phoenix, Arizona where Mayor Giuliani brought subject-matter specialists and constitutional attorney specialist, Jenna Ellis to appear before the Joint Legislative Committee over a ten hour day of testimony and evidence. While many elected officials in both parties still refused to acknowledge a problem, painfully slowly a case was made for a complete and formal forensic evaluation with the findings made public through the Arizona Senate. By God’s grace this has been accomplished, and we now wait for the full and complete Formal Forensic Report of Findings.

If, what I believe will be forthcoming happens, we will see a new dimension appear to the highly questionable November 2020 Election. The new dimension will be a proven fraud of the election in at least Maricopa County, Arizona, which will lead to the question of “Decertifying the Election for President of the United States” in at least the Great State of Arizona. Once again, and as I have said on my show ARIZONA TODAY, we have been sailing in unchartered waters, no map, no history to guide us, and if the forensic findings come forward proving a fraudulent election process and results in Maricopa County, then we move to a potential Constitutional crisis.

Media Attempt to Downplay Alarming New Inflation Report

Despite media spin, price inflation is still very much a problem.

It’s no secret that the mainstream media has a left-leaning bias. So it’s not exactly surprising that when alarming new inflation data were released on Tuesday, many journalists and media outlets attempted to downplay the story. After all, rising concerns about inflation could hamper the federal government’s ongoing efforts to massively increase government spending and expand the welfare state.

Here are just a few examples of countless reports that sought to downplay the just-released inflation figures. For one, the Washington Post dubbed the new numbers “an early sign that inflation could be easing.” And CNBC went with a different spin in its headline: “Consumer prices post smaller-than-expected increase in August.”

Meanwhile, many left-leaning commentators and analysts argued that the new data vindicate their claims that recent price inflation is just “transitory.” (Aka temporary.)

Yet when one looks at the actual report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this rosy spin seems utterly unwarranted. It shows that the Consumer Price Index, an average sample of typical consumer prices, rose 0.3 percent in August. This is less than the 0.4 percent increase that had been predicted, prompting the media spin to suggest that August saw “less inflation than expected.” While perhaps true, this is misleading, because the new figures still show prices seriously on the rise.

On an annual basis, from August 2020 to August 2021, prices rose 5.3 percent. That’s nearly a 13-year high!

In particular, energy costs rose 25 percent year-over-year, while food prices rose 3.7 percent. Used vehicle prices rose a whopping 31.9 percent over the last year as well. These are just a few examples of the many ways Americans’ purchasing power—their real standard of living—eroded over the last year due to price inflation.

It might be true that inflation is easing or slowing down, but that’s not the main takeaway here. Prices have still risen significantly! And, as shown in the graph below, comparing August 2021 to August in years past shows that price inflation is still very much a problem. [VIEW CHART HERE]

Ultimately, prices are still rising in alarming ways. That can be traced back to government policies like the Federal Reserve’s printing of trillions of new dollars to fund COVID “stimulus” efforts. Those who want the feds to spend more and grow the welfare state have every incentive to downplay the consequences of fiscal and monetary recklessness.

But don’t fall for the media spin. Everyday Americans suffer the consequences of price inflation when their paychecks don’t stretch as far as they used to. It’s important to look beyond political narratives to understand just how much “stealth taxation” via inflation is really going on.

Yoo-hoo, stupid Republicans

Why the Republican Party does virtually nothing to aggressively counter the relentless charges of racism hurled its way leaves me speechless.

As the spineless GOP turns the other cheek to scurrilous charges of racism, our Republic is being dismantled piece by piece. Make no mistake. The party of race-arson politics is attempting a coup-de-grâce on our two-party constitutional democracy.

In hopes of culminating Obama’s vow to “fundamentally transform” the country he holds in deep contempt, Democrats are projecting every major issue—immigration, voter integrity, pandemic relief, infrastructure spending, education, policing, the military—through a racial lens, with Republicans cast as white supremacists frothing at the mouth for a return of Jim Crow. The GOP’s response to that absurd charge? Ho-hum.

In every election cycle, Republicans sit by in virtual silence while being beaten senseless with the race card. When Democrats point an accusatory finger and let go with smug cries of “racist,” the GOP leadership mimics the subservient fraternity pledge in National Lampoon’s Animal House by dropping their drawers, bending over and saying, Thank you sir, may I have another?

Maybe it hasn’t dawned on the GOP that the party wielding the race card uses it to distract the black electorate from the unmitigated havoc that party has foisted on the quality of life in urban America. That decades-long trail of carnage is so self-serving, so inhumane that it begs to be exposed in the most public way possible.

Where Black Lives Don’t Matter

For most of America’s otherwise storied history, two evil institutions—slavery and segregation—saw to it that black lives didn’t matter. In 1964, hope among Americans of African descent soared when the federal government launched a war on poverty.

Then, in a bitter twist of fate for a people subjected to economic oppression since their country’s founding, that hope would be crushed when the party of government dependency turned the war on poverty into what has become a third evil institution in this country: the New Plantation, aka America’s inner cities. As was true on plantations of the Old South, the New Plantationis a place where black lives don’t matter.

Over the last half-century, trillions of dollars have been spent to help lift the inner city poor, with a mother lode of anti-poverty funding having gone to blue state governors and blue city mayors. So what have these lavishly compensated Democrats done to improve living conditions in urban communities? A short drive through any inner city area in America reveals the SHOCKING answer: not a damn thing.

According to Bob Woodson, a former executive of the National Urban League, 70% of the $22 trillion in anti-poverty funding never reached the disadvantaged people it was intended to help. Instead, the lion’s share was siphoned off by hyper-partisan Democrats who perpetuated inexcusably wasteful bureaucracies that devoured massive sums of anti-poverty funding in ways that did virtually nothing to improve the plight of the inner city poor.

Democrats say their motives are pure. That may have been true—half a century ago. They say then need more time, more money. Another half-century? Another $22 trillion? They deserve no more time and no more money, because they have become jackals who get fat by feeding on the carcass of impoverished black people whose lives they have ruined.

Despite decades of stratospheric social spending, the squalid living conditions in urban America have only gotten worse. By nearly every metric, the Democrat administration of anti-poverty funding has been catastrophic for urban Americans, with the disintegration of the black family as Exhibit A.

When the war on poverty was enacted, the out-of-wedlock birthrate among African Americans was 25%. A half-century later, that rate had skyrocketed to 77%, incontrovertible evidence that the war on poverty backfired in an unimaginably tragic way that would leave generations of young black women addicted to the demeaning lifestyle of government dependency, and generations of young black men saddled with functional illiteracy and arrested psychological development.

As millions of out-of-wedlock babies were born in ghetto neighborhoods, America continued massive spending on new and existing social programs to help lift the black underclass. Nearly all of those programs were overseen by Democrats, with horrendous consequences, especially for young black males.

Having been robbed of a realistic chance for a successful future by the chronically substandard public schools in Democrat-run cities, generations of young black men unable to read or write defaulted to a life of crime, with many destined to end up dead or in prison before turning 20. While urban kids who want to learn have no choice but to attend the wretched schools in the inner city, America’s most prominent Democrats send their own children to top-rated private academies.

For six decades, residents of the New Plantation have been economically consigned to communities ravaged by urban decay, rampant crime, rat-infested government housing, sorry schools, generational poverty and chronic hopelessness, with each election bringing a new round of empty promises from the party that that uses welfare addiction and the race card to win elections. While the black underclass faces a daily struggle just to survive, the Democrats they helped elect live in new homes, drive new cars and dine at exclusive restaurants.

Yoo-Hoo, Stupid Republicans. So What Are You Going To Do?

In 2013, I notified RNC chairman Reince Priebus that I was through sending money to the GOP until it develops a backbone in response to being slandered as a party of racists. I’ve since contributed to campaigns of many Republican candidates, but have not given a dime to the RNC, which still responds with a yawn to scurrilous charges of racism. If America is to be saved, the Republican spine must stiffen!

The decades-long devastation Democrats have foisted on urban Americans is so thorough, so horrific that it’s tantamount a premeditated crime against the most vulnerable people in our society. It’s time for Republicans to stop acting like a pack of trembling Chihuahuas on the issue of race. It’s time to go on the offense by ramming the race card where it belongs—down the throat of the overseers of the New Plantation. The ramming needs to start NOW and continue unabated until Democrats have paid a steep price at the ballot box for the incalculable harm they have inflicted on a disadvantaged segment of society for which they pretend to care so deeply. Break the Democrat lock on the black vote and you break the back of the Democratic Party.

Now is the time for a full-throttle ad campaign that lets voters in battleground states see with their own eyes how Democrats have heaped misery and despair on generations of decent people in the inner city. I will generously contribute to such an effort, and believe millions of other conservatives fed-up with being slandered as knuckle-dragging racists would do likewise.

There will never be a better time to launch a balls to the wall campaign of 30-sec. ads patterned after a nuclear-tipped YouTube produced by Rebel Pundit in 2014,when Obama was in office. The video shows four black ex-cons in Chicago describe in vivid terms how Democrats have destroyed the quality of life in urban America. An ad campaign called “Voices of the Betrayed” featuring real life victims of progressivism’s cynical cruelty could save America by turning the political tide against the party of Marx, Lenin, Alinsky and Obama.

If not this idea, stupid Republicans, what? If not now, when? Next year will be too late. By then, our Republic will have been brought to its knees.

Racist Segregationist Biden Ancestors Owned Slaves

Now what? Where are the Democrat racist hypocrites? They tore down statues for less – will they tear down this illegitimate regime?

Biden ancestors owned enslaved people, genealogist says

By Celine Castronuovo, The Hill, September 14, 2021:

A genealogist who has conducted a sweeping look into President Biden’s lineage says records show some of the Scranton, Pa., native’s ancestors on his father’s side owned enslaved people.

Alexander Bannerman, who along with presidential lineage expert Gary Boyd Roberts co-authored an article on Biden’s ancestry for the winter 2021 issue of the New England Historic Genealogical Society’s American Ancestors Magazine, told Politico that he came across the findings while looking through census records and slave schedules from Maryland.

According to Bannerman, the 1800 census showed that Biden’s great-great-great-grandfather, Jesse Robinett, owned two enslaved people in Allegany County, and another great-great-great-grandfather, Thomas Randle, enslaved a 14-year-old boy in Baltimore County.

The researcher also told Politico that Randle and his family moved elsewhere in Baltimore County in 1860, at which point they owned a single male slave, according to census records.

The president has long highlighted the Irish roots from his mother’s family, the Finnegans.

Politico noted that Bannerman and Roberts do not include Biden’s ancestral ties to slavery in their academic article, with the authors arguing that it is fairly common for Americans with colonial-era roots to have enslaved people connected to their family’s history.

Bannerman argued that Biden’s ties to slavery are not nearly as strong as many other American families.

“Not a lot of ancestors, and not a lot of slaves,” he told Politico.

However, the genealogist said that the article does include a reference to Biden’s ancestor Allen Robanet, who had a distant tie to Varina Anne Banks Howell, the wife of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

The Hill has reached out to The White House for comment.

Black White Supremacist Slave Governors – Huh?

California’s recall vote is today.  The leading Republican candidate Larry Elder, who happens to be black, was recently called a white supremacist by one of the speakers at a Gavin Newsom rally.   Welcome to the fantasyland of the Left where men can give birth and black people can be white supremacists, even if they’re violently assaulted by radical white Leftists wearing insulting monkey masks as Elder recently was.  Hold certain attitudes and you are no longer black, the thinking goes.  This is obviously crazy.  People who hold these beliefs should seek professional help.

So should the people who believe slavery still exists in America today, like it was 1861 or something.  They’re now using the term ‘slavery’ very loosely to make their phony case, sweeping in all kinds of stuff that isn’t slavery, like blacks not doing as well economically as whites, on average.  Nice try, but that’s not slavery.

Real slavery really does exist in the world today, and that’s one of the points made by Candace Owens in a recent video for PragerU.  She is a conservative black and, therefore, a white supremacist, so says the delusional Left.   At least 700,000 people are enslaved in Africa today, Owens says, subjected to forced labor and human trafficking.    Slavery today is practiced almost exclusively in non-white countries, she goes on to say.

Her video makes other excellent points about slavery, taking down the persistent lie slavery is just a white thing.  The history of slavery goes back at least 5,000 years to Egypt where slaves built the pyramids.  It continued in ancient Greece and Rome, and was a big part of life in many parts of the world.   There is a long history of Muslims enslaving white people.  Blacks were sold into slavery in Africa by other black people.

If truth be told, whites were the first to end slavery, starting with England in 1833, followed by France, then the 13th Amendment in the United States in 1865.

If Larry Elder is elected today, will he be the first slave Governor of California, or the first black white supremacist Governor, or both?  That’s what happens when the Left spins too many narratives and trips over them.   I’m getting confused, but I’m sure the Left can straighten it all out for me.  They’re so clever with words.

The 4 Biggest Problems with Biden’s Vaccine Order

Surely, the White House’s vaccine mandate plan cannot stand.

Back in December of 2020, then President-elect Biden said that he would not make vaccines against COVID-19 mandatory, nor did he think they should be mandatory. Given the new vaccine mandate by the White House, set to affect nearly 100 million Americans by some estimates, one reasonably conclude that Biden misled the people. However, Biden’s actions will likely increase vaccine hesitancy, lead to further distrust of the government, and can expect multiple legal challenges – as well as civil disobedience. These outcomes can all be expected due to four distinct challenges to the mandate.

First, Biden’s executive order is just that – an executive order. Congress, the legislative branch, and thus the entire concept of representative government, has been bypassed by President Biden. The White House has no legislative authority to create an emergency rule under OSHA and it says as much in the U.S. Constitution. Article 1, Section 1 states very plainly, in a single sentence: “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” Nowhere in that sentence are legislative authorities granted to the Executive branch. Likewise, the President does not reserve such powers – powers which belong to the states or to the people, as outlined by the Tenth Amendment in the Bill of Rights.

Second, proponents of the White House’s actions have cited a legal precedent – the 1905 Supreme Court Case Jacobson v. Massachusettsspecifically – which is unlikely to hold up to any serious scrutiny. In that case, a Massachusetts law passed by a legislature and adhering to the principles of the separation of powers (unlike an executive order authored by the President) allowed local town health boards (not federal agencies run by unelected bureaucrats) to establish mandatory vaccines if it was deemed necessary by local, municipal, elected officials. Those who did not comply were prosecuted with a simple fine of five dollars. A challenge was raised to the law, and the Supreme Court – the Fuller Court specifically – upheld it.

However, when compared to Biden’s new mandate, one can readily see legal issues. Apart from the legislative process that the Massachusetts law first underwent as outlined above, Biden’s executive order places the burden not on the people, but on private companies, effectively turning employer against employee. Certainly, in an employer-employee relationship, and even more so in a government-as-employer setting, vaccine requirements have a clearly established basis. What is not clearly established, if established at all, is the federal government pre-arranging the medical requirements upon which an employment relationship may commence between private individuals.

Furthermore, the appeal to Jacobson v. Massachusetts ought to enrage many Americans, especially women and minorities. Jacobson was decided under Chief Justice Fuller, who presided over Plessy v. Ferguson (1896), when racial segregation was codified under federal law. That decision has now been overturned, but remains held in absolute contempt, and rightly so. In addition, Jacobson was decided nearly 15 years before women received the right to vote at the federal level, and was also later cited as precedent – even served as the basis – for the decision of Buck v. Bell (1927) when SCOTUS allowed for compulsory sterilization of women deemed mentally unfit for motherhood.

Third, and speaking of women, there are still ongoing concerns about the safety of the COVID vaccines. Although the CDC has said there is little-to-no risk, and the FDA has fully approved the vaccine, there have been recent reports that the vaccines have been affecting women’s menstrual cycles, raising serious concerns about reproductive health. As recently as early September, in fact, the National Institutes of Health has approved 1.67 million dollars to investigate those claims. The NIH appears to be taking these reports very seriously – unlike the White House, the CDC, and the FDA.

Given the recent tensions and commentary from the Biden Administration in opposition to Texas’ new 6-week abortion law, we might assume that the Biden Administration would be a little more supportive of both bodily autonomy and reproductive health. However, that does not seem to be the case. Furthermore, we might hope that supporters of the Biden Administration would never dream of giving so much deference to a SCOTUS decision made under a Chief Justice who helped codify segregation, and was later used as the basis for forced sterilization. But that does not seem to be the case either.

Fourth and finally, Biden’s mandate makes no exception for natural immunity against COVID, now believed to be more effective than vaccines. Todd Zywicki, a professor at the Antonin Scalia Law School, has already successfully fought George Mason University’s vaccine mandate after filing a lawsuit against the mandate on the basis of natural immunity. Requiring vaccines for those already immune is unnecessary and a violation of medical ethics, and Zywicki’s previous efforts will likely serve as a basis for legal challenges going forward.

It is astounding, truly, to watch the White House bypass the legislative process, ignore representative government, and disrespect the separation of powers. It is enraging to watch supporters of the Biden Administration cite a Supreme Court decision made under the same Chief Justice who presided over Plessy v. Ferguson, years before women had the right to vote, and later used to support forced sterilization.

It is horrific that vaccines be mandated before a new investigation into their safety for women is concluded. And it is unconscionable that such an executive order would make no provision for those possessing natural immunity. Surely, this cannot stand.

Trump’s Big Tech Suit Lawyer Predicts Case Headed to Supreme Court

The very definition of fascism. That’s what it is – in the imposition of communism.

There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism – by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide. Ayn Rand

Trump big tech suit lawyer predicts case headed to Supreme Court, says gov’t pressure made firms state actors

By:  FOX News September 1, 2021:

EXCLUSIVE – The top lawyer for former President Donald Trump in his lawsuits against Twitter, Google and Facebook over his bans from those platforms says that multiple factors make them “state actors,” meaning they’d be legally vulnerable under standards normally applied only to governments, like prior restraint.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News that lawyer, John Coale, argued that the government is essentially deputizing social media companies to censor Americans. And he predicted that the Supreme Court will eventually decide the case.

“The basis for all of this case is that private companies cannot be empowered by the government via Congress, via [Section] 230,” to censor people, Coale said. “The Biden administration and members of Congress can’t delegate what they cannot do themselves.”

He added: “This issue will in the end be decided in the Supreme Court, it’s that important.”

In addition to the initial complaints, Coale and his legal team last week filed a motion for a preliminary injunction against Google – which owns YouTube – to force the company to allow Trump back on its platform.

In all of those documents the main thrust of the Trump team’s arguments is that the companies can be treated like the government in law because they are allegedly taking actions based on pressure, encouragement or willfully in concert with the government. They cite cases that allegedly support this, although they are not perfect fits for facts as the examples are mostly not in the context of speech rights.

“There’s three tests and if they flunk one test, they’re government actors,” Coale said. “The first is if … government officials be they congressmen, senators or people in the executive branch threaten these companies – they did it at congressional hearings, they did it in the media and we show examples of that in the preliminary injunction.”

“The other thing is, if the government encourages censorship that is unconstitutional,” Coale added. “The third test is if … the private company is doing the bidding of the government, and they are. We had Biden’s press secretary confirm that last month when she said that they’re working closely with Facebook to prevent misinformation on the virus.”

Last week’s motion for a preliminary injunction includes several examples of alleged pressure, encouragement and cooperation between the company and government officials.

Among those examples are comments and proposed bills from members of Congress like Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., taking a touch stance against alleged social media misinformation. There are also examples of members of Congress calling for social media bans of the former president and lauding th…

Democrats Want To Punish Americans With $2.9 Trillion More In Taxes

Unsustainable. We the people are no longer self governed. This is punitive. 20% of Americans pay majority of taxes. 61% paid zero fed taxes last year. It’s the 20% that gets the shaft. But we’re all tapped out.

$200 billion in more IRS funding for tax enforcement.

Dems Want To Hit Americans With $2.9 Trillion More In Taxes

By: Hank Berrien • Daily Wire •Sep 13, 2021

Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee have drafted a proposal that would hit the American public with an additional $2.9 trillion over 10 years in tax revenue. Here are some of the increases sought by the massive proposal:

Increase the top individual rate to 39.6%. This marginal rate applies to married individuals filing jointly with taxable income over $450,000, to heads of households with taxable income over $425,000, to unmarried individuals with taxable income over $400,000.

Increase the top corporate tax rate to 26.5% . Increase the top capital gains rate 20% to 25%.

Expand the net investment income tax to cover net income derived in the ordinary course of a trade or business for taxpayers with greater than $400,000 in taxable income (single filer) or $500,000 (joint filer).

Increase the holding period for which a taxpayer must qualify for capital gains treatment from 3 to 5 years.

Increase the rate of tax on tobacco products.

Reduce the deduction on Foreign-Derived Intangible Income from 37.5% to 21.875%.

Provide $80 billion over the next ten years for IRS funding for tax enforcement related to high income taxpayers.

The Daily Wire reported on Friday:

President Biden and the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget plan means to monitor gross inflows and outflows from Americans’ bank accounts, prompting concern that the federal government would be willfully violating the 4th Amendment.

“The proposal would require banks to report to gross inflows and outflows to the IRS, including transactions from Venmo, PayPal, crypto exchanges and the like in an effort to fight tax evasion,” the Daily Mail noted, adding, “The IRS would know how much money is in an individual’s bank account in a given year, whether the individual earned income on that account and exactly how much was going in an and out.”

Patrick Hedger, vice president of policy at the Taxpayers’ Protection Alliance, blasted the idea, saying, “The IRS is first and foremost, a law enforcement agency and the Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures in pursuit of, of looking for wrongdoing and criminal actions, so I think this is going to run into severe Fourth Amendment headwinds.”

He added:

You’re going to push more folks into small cash transactions, you’re going to push more banking offshore … the big fish out there that do have sizable assets that are that are eligible for taxation offshore. This is the ultimate regressive tax. You’re going to end up punishing the worst off among us … the lower income folks in this country have historically been the targets of aggressive IRS audits because they don’t have the CPAs and the lawyers to be able to fight back.  I don’t see why they need to be going after people, you know, just the average, the average Joe and start stooping on, you know, a $600 payment. It doesn’t make any sense, these, this is, I mean this is beyond trying to pick out low hanging fruit.

Manchin: Schumer ‘will not have my vote’ on $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill

Bernie Sanders and the Democrats seeks to inject socialism into America with this monstrosity of a bill. In addition, it has been discovered that this bill would allow the IRS to monitor bank transactions, potentially violating the 4th Amendment. The bill will also grant amnesty to millions of people who have entered the United States illegally. And the bill would provide free community college to Americans, while funding  radical “green” projects in the years ahead. This bill must be stopped. Keep calling Senator Manchin and tell him to vote no.

Manchin: Schumer ‘will not have my vote’ on $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill

By Fox News, September 12, 2021

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said Sunday that he will not vote in favor of his party’s $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package, which is a central part of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda and needs the support of all 50 Democratic senators to pass.

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Manchin was asked by anchor Dana Bash to respond to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., who said Democrats were moving “full speed ahead” on the package for which Manchin previously called for a “pause.” Manchin, who sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said his main issue with the package is its hefty price tag.

“He will not have my vote on 3.5 and Chuck knows that,” he said, adding that it should be more like $1.5 trillion. “It’s not going to be three and a half I can assure you.”

Manchin said the bill that Democrats should be primarily focused on is the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that passed in the Senate and is awaiting House action. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said a vote on that bill would be held on Sept. 27, but progressives have threatened to vote against it if the reconciliation bill is held up in the Senate.

Manchin said there is “no way” the reconciliation will pass this month, and he said progressives are making a big mistake if they follow through on their threat.

“They have to do what they have to do,” he said. “And if they play politics with the needs of America, I can tell you America will recoil.”

Appearing later on ABC’s “This Week,” Manchin criticized Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., after the senator declared on Twitter the day before: “No infrastructure bill without the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill.”

“I just respectfully disagree with Bernie,” Manchin told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “I’ve never seen this in legislation. I never thought the purposes of the progress we make in legislation was basically to hold one hostage over the other.”

Sanders, who appeared later on the same show, fired back, saying “the real question” is whether it is “appropriate for one person to destroy two pieces of legislation.”

Sanders said that regardless of the party infighting, he expected both bills to eventually pass.

Budget reconciliation rules prevent Republicans from filibustering the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill, so Democrats only need a simple majority to pass it. With a 50-50 Senate, Democrats need every senator in their party to vote yes, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.
